The female holly cultivar Ilex aquifolium 'Argentea Marginata' (silver-margined holly) produces a beautiful evergreen tree which has variegated leaves and bright red berries. This tree will grow in moist, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. These two specimens create a welcoming arch over this path in a winter garden.

Can anyone ID this beautiful plant, please? I discovered it in the lovely secret garden of the Airbnb, where I am staying here in La Jolla, and would like try if I can grow it in my garden in Austin. Another crown of thorns, this variegated 'Northern De-Lites' is one of my favorites. 💚 The bracts (colored part of the flower) 🌸 are not very big but the foliage is the star of this plant. In the second picture, you will see that it has some stems that have reverted back to having plain green leaves. I will cut those stems off, because they could take over the plant. Why? Because all green leaves obviously have more chlorophyll than the variegated leaves so they will grow faster. Cut them off! ✂️ Have you had a variegated plant revert back to green? This Ulmus parvifolia 'Frosty' (lacebark elm, Chinese elm) is a small tree with lots of character. It features green leaves with frosted edges and interestingly mottled bark. The tree produces a vase shaped habit and has proved resistant to dutch elm disease.

My little Spathiphyllum Peace Lily collection. Did you know that Peace Lilies are not actually lilies? They are actually from the Araceae family.. I have a four different varieties of peace Lilly. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the little guy at the front is as a variegated Domino, but not 100% sure?. I have the Peace Lilly Sensation which is the big guy at the back. And the other two were both just sold as peace lily's. The Peace Lily is listed in NASA's Top 10 household air cleaning plants. Which is why I originally bought one. They are usually found in rainforests which is why they generally get brown tips on their leaves when bought into the home. This is because the humidity in homes is generally too low for their requirements. I have a humidifier set to 60% plus I usually only use distilled water. Peace Lilies contain oxalates and are poisonous to animals. Though apparently animals don't like the taste and they just end up spitting it back out. But I think worth mentioning. They can also survive in very low light conditions. While this isn't ideal, if you have a spot with not much light these should do fine. Though I would rotate it with another plant so it occasionally still gets some light. To water most people wait till the leaves droop slightly. I try to avoid this by watering a day or so before I expect them to droop. This is just another way to try to avoid those brown tips. Hope you all have a great weekend.
