Weekly Update #246 - New Music Track & Profile Pics
Alright, time for a little progress summary for this week!
First of all, Solo has finished a new track for GENBA no Kizuna! Patrons can check out the full version here, but we have also provided a short preview on our Twitter and Instagram! With this, GENBA's OST currently sits at a total of 12 tracks:
(If you become a patron, you can get access to the full versions of all 12 tracks, plus 2 SHINRAI-related tracks, right away!)
As you can see, our soundtrack is growing slowly but surely, and it's all thanks to our Patreon supporters! So a huge thanks to everyone who has pledged to us! It really means and helps a lot! Without your help, I couldn't share this list today, haha.
On the topic of Patreon, I have also just published another post containing previews for the DPA profile pictures for Ryuunosuke, Shiku, Amber and Terano. You can check them out over here.
That's one thing I've been busily working on over the past few days, but I have also made some more script progress, revising the next scene and getting it ready for proofreading. Next up, I will tackle the sprite variations for Amber and Shiku, both of which probably won't need that many.

Renascentia is the visual novel I am currently developing and it is the story of a young woman (who is controlled by the player) who is brought back to life through necromancy, hundreds of years after her death. . I wanted to explore a medieval fantasy world in its future from the perspective of an undead creature. Mainly so I could present the player with difficult moral choices; undead hunger for life and this is something the player will have to deal with throughout the whole game. . Magic and technology both exist, but the former is an archaic and rare form of power that is looked down upon and dismissed and technology (which was created from researching magical artefacts) which is widspread and used on a daily basis. Weekly Update #248 - Ryuunosuke Sprite Progress
As mentioned in last week's blog post, I've focused on Ryuunosuke's sprite variations, now that Amber and Terano are done. Ryuunosuke's sprites are kinda special in that they can be considered somewhat "spoilery". It's difficult to explain, but I think it'd be better for players to see his sprites while playing the actual game, which is why I won't really be able to share a lot of preview images of him. Nevertheless, I have uploaded one new sprite variation for patrons at least, which can be viewed here. With this, Ryuunosuke's sprites are almost done as well. They just need some little fixes, so that only leaves Shiku now. It will probably be about two weeks before I'll tackle hers, though. Until they first days of June, I probably won't be able to focus too much on work-intensive stuff like sprite art, so I'll shift my focus to a few smaller things instead: proofreading, menu stuff, DPA entries... stuff like that. Then, during the first week of June, I'll take care of Shiku and finish up all the sprites overall. Anyway, I guess that's already it. There sadly isn't much else to report, as I've been mostly focused on Ryuu during this past week. So this will have to end as another really short update! Weekly Update #222 - 1st Part Of Extended Demo Almost Done!
Last week, I talked about the progress of our extended GENBA no Kizuna demo, showing off some of the finally finished sprites for Shinketsu and Rei. Today, I'm happy to announce that the early release of its first part for patrons is just around the corner!
So what exactly will this release include, you might wonder... Well!
There are three new scenes following the content of our current demo release. They focus on the layout of the Kaseki Residence, Shinketsu's and Rei's introductions, and last but not least... the victim! The actual corpse discovery will not yet be included, however. Since that part still requires a bit more work, it will most likely be released in December.
Either way, these three scenes add up to approximately 2,600 words, making them just about as long as the prologue!
According to Natsu, it should only be a matter of a few days before everything is coded. So if you're supporting us on Patreon, keep your eyes peeled! Depending on how the testing goes and, whether or not we'll run into any major issues, it's quite possible we'll release it there this coming week! Then, it'll be your turn to try and spot any bugs if you feel up for it!
In any case, while Natsu is working on the code, I've continued to fix up the next scene as well as prepare the assets for the ones following it. If you're a patron, you can already get an early look at Ryuunosuke's sprite over here! I've also uploaded Shinketsu's sprite sheet, which is available to non-patrons, too!
The extended demo will most likely be released in three parts for patrons. The second one should hopefully be ready soon, but the final one, focusing on the introduction of the suspects, might take some more time until completion. There are still a lot of assets missing, especially in the sprite department. I'll continue to work as hard as I can to finish as many as I can during the rest of the year, but I guess it's very well possible that even patrons will have to wait until next year, before they can get a look at everything.
Welp, not much I can do except to keep working hard, so that's what I'm gonna do! Before I come to a close and get back to work, however, please let me once again remind you that Kuna, creator of Pitch Black Serenade, a romance/mystery visual novel, is currently open for game asset commissions! Weekly Update #210 - GENBA itch.io Store Page
So, before we get to today's blog post, I guess I have to apologize for not keeping up with posting our weekly updates over here for a while now. There were some technical issues at first, but eventually, it came down to me forgetting about it "orz However, from here on out, I'm going to be posting them again simultaneously with our website updates!

And with that out of the way, let's get to today's update!
So, after last week's slightly longer blog post about How To Plan A Crime (as a writer for a fictional work, of course!), I guess that today's blog post is going to be a bit more on the shorter side and just a quick overview of what's currently going on!
As you might have noticed, SHINRAI is currently on sale again in order to celebrate the 2-year anniversary of its release on August 26, 2016. So if you've been considering to try it out for a while, or if you know someone you would like to play it, now's a good chance to strike, as the game and its soundtrack are currently 50% off!
Alternatively, if you have already played SHINRAI, you can also check out the short, initial demo for our next VN project, GENBA no Kizuna! We have now published a page for it on itch.io as well, which you can check out here. Along with the launch of the itch.io page, I have also slightly updated the features list for the game. Furthermore, our thread on the LemmaSoft forums has been updated as well, giving you a quick look at various things we have worked on since April. So if you're relatively new here and have just learned about GENBA but don't want to go through dozens of blog posts... that's a good way to get a quick summary of things!
As for the stuff I've recently been working on (outside of setting up the itch.io page, which kinda took a while "orz), I've started to revise the demo script a little due to the feedback we have gotten so far. A number of people have mentioned some of the internal monologue beats going on for a bit too long, so I've decided to check them over again and trim them down a little. I guess it didn't really strike me as "bad" back in April, but I can certainly see now where those people are coming from.
I've also talked about the next GENBA track with our composer, so patrons can expect to get a listen to it very soon! This will also be the final track needed for the extended demo, so once it's finished, at least the BGM part is going to be fully taken care of!
Speaking of Patreon, this month's art poll is going to run for another week and we're currently sitting at a tie. So if you're a patron, please be sure to get your vote in to help us decide which character will be featured in the September artwork!
I guess that about sums it up, so I'm going to wrap it up right here. Please keep an eye out tomorrow, however, as there will be another quick little posting. It's going to be the 26th after all!
