Could you write something for Alessia where reader is her sister and gets her first england call up. I feel like less would be such a good older sister, slightly protective and over bearing but also just making sure reader is fitting in and has no trouble.

the call up II a.russo x sister!reader
you'd been sat with a few of your club team mates watching a movie together at beths house when you'd gotten the call, shock written all over your face as you glanced down and saw the contact name.
"go! answer it." beth whispered with an encouraging nod as you hurried to your feet and raced out of the living room, hyper aware of the eyes watching as you did so.
accepting sarina's call the dutch woman got straight to the point. you'd seen her in the crowd at a few of the home games you'd started in, and sure enough she advised she'd been impressed with what she'd seen, offering you a spot at the next camp with the senior team.
she was honest in the chances of you getting minutes in the game against scotland were slim, but the opportunity to train with the senior team and absorb and learn was there and waiting as you eagerly accepted, sarina advising she would see you at camp before ending the call.
your first call was to your parents who were over the moon, promising they'd keep it quiet until the squad for camp was officially announced, though within a few seconds your phone lit up with a flurry of notifications as the news was put into the family group chat making you roll your eyes with a fond smile.
you stood to return back to your team mates but your phone lit up with another call, your sisters name and contact photo she despised flashing across the screen making you snicker with amusement at the unflattering 0.5 angle of her with bed hair and a scowl in high definition.
"hi less." you greeted with a chuckle. "you still haven't changed my contact photo have you?" the blonde sighed knowingly as you laughed properly looking at it again.
"of course not, and i won't be anytime soon unless i take an uglier photo." you teased as she mocked you under your breath. "you're such a little shit. but anyway, why the hell did i have to find out about your call up from luca?" alessia scoffed accusingly and you didn't need to be on facetime to imagine the stern frown which would be plastered across her features.
"because no one in this family knows how to keep anything to themselves, you especially." you rolled your eyes, sending a smile and a thumbs up to beth who poked her head in to check on you, the older girl sending you a warm smile back and retreating to the living room.
"i should have been your first call, i'm your only sister and i'll be at camp too. your first call up to the senior squad is a huge deal!" alessia lectured before dropping tone and congratulating you, the two of you having imagined for years what it would be like if you ever made the senior team together.
you were disappointed not to make the world cup roster but having the extra time to focus on football with your club had benefited you immensely in other ways, and you just needed to consistently remind yourself that everything happened for a reason.
you'd started off your professional career with a short term contract at bristol city, and after a year of starting and a semi successful season you were offered a three year contract with manchester united which had always been your goal.
alessia had already known of the offer before you did of course, ella and mary having to practically hold her down to stop her calling to pressure you into accepting the moment she found out.
but none the less it was an offer too good to decline for any club, let alone your childhood dreams of one day playing for united coming true and to get the opportunity to play alongside and see alessia every day.
the two of you fought tooth and nail growing up as sisters did and always over the most ridiculous of things.
but regardless of that and the near five year age gap you were always close, your relationship only strengthening once alessia went away to college and you weren't living on top of one another anymore.
you'd only played a single season with united, most of it spent on the bench or as an impact sub, but you loved the girls and found yourself falling hard for manchesters charm.
which is why the loan had been quite the shock, no real warning given when the club accepted an offer from spurs on your behalf, both you and grace traded with the hopes of gaining proper game time and starting minutes under your belts.
alessia had kicked off the moment it went public, first at you for not telling her and then at everyone else who would listen to her frustrations which you knew mostly stemmed from a worry of how you would go moving to a different place and a different team all on your own.
only, you weren't alone. with grace by your side you adjusted easily into this new challenge in your life, you and the midfielder growing even closer than you were when you were at united, and now you both found no trouble calling each other a best friend, attached at the hip and practically inseparable.
"-i'll come and pick you up friday for dinner for mums birthday. i love you!" alessia confirmed, clearing pausing waiting for you to say it back. "don't you dare hang up and not say it back you little shit." your sister scoffed as you grinned, forever finding it all too easy to get under her skin.
"love you lessi, see you friday!" with that you hung up, hearing the girls in the other room start to argue over what to order for dinner as you took a moment to let it all sink in.
you'd finally done it.
~
"you've got your kits yeah? and the tracksuits, and the training ones, and your socks, and your cleats, and you need to be careful you're not wearing anything that isn't adidas branded if you're being filmed or there's pictures taken by the social media team-" your sister lectured over the phone as you rolled your eyes and flicked her to speaker.
"-then you'll get the schedule when you arrive but i'll show you where everything is anyway. if we're not roomed near each other i'll still come and find you every morning and we can have breakfast before training and i'll run you through the daily schedules-" you started to tune her out as you flicked through your closet, humming every now and then to appease her.
"-are you even listening to me?" you only hummed again, completely checked out of the conversation now as you wrestled to get your suitcase closed. "oh my god you've got me on speaker and you've left the room again like last time. OI!" you winced and zoned back in as she shouted loudly.
"no! i'm right here idiot. but i know you love the sound of your own voice so who was i to interrupt?" you chuckled, grunting as you sat on top of your case and finally got it closed.
“ha ha ha, very funny. what the hell are you doing anyway? why are you grunting and groaning are you working out right now?” your sister questioned. “no! im trying to close my case, which i now have!” you sighed victoriously zipping it up.
“you haven’t finished packing?” alessia shouted as you rolled your eyes. “less.” you warned, muting her momentarily as she ignored you and started to rant and rave about how you needed to step up and be an adult.
returning a few moments later you unmuted her, catching her mid story of something you really weren’t all that interested in.
“oh no less you’re breaking up I can’t hear you!” you spoke in a monotone, voice dripping with sarcasm as you scrunched a piece of paper and made glitchy noises with your mouth.
“seriously? you can’t even just say you don’t want to talk anymore? you have to make up some bullshit excuse and-“ her words fell short as you clicked the red end call button with a chuckle, tossing the ball of paper over your shoulder.
you watched the texts fly in from her, unhappy with your attitude and warning you needed to be mature on camp which you silenced with a roll of your eyes, interrupted by your security buzzer going.
“sorry don’t want any.” you grinned as grace’s head appeared in the security camera, the girl pulling a face and flipping you off as you buzzed her in. “cars here! im not comin up, you’re comin down. hurry!” the brunette warned as your eyes widened and you rushed about making sure you had everything.
you jolted in surprise as a knock sounded on your door, flinging it open and frowning when grace stood there with a grin. “aih ya dickhead the car isn’t here yet it’s not even ten, too easy!” your best friend laughed pushing past you as she dumped her own bags by the door.
“you are such a wind up.”
~
“you nervous?” you asked grace, tapping her knee to gain her attention as the car turned into st georges park and she pulled her headphones down around her neck.
“nah not really. you shouldn’t be either! we wouldn’t have been called up if they didn’t think we wasn’t ready, and your sister is here anyway to look after ya.” grace reminded with a smile, pushing your head with a wink as the two of you rough housed for a bit before the car parked up.
“cameras rollin. how’d i look then?” grace fluttered her eyelashes making you grin. “ugly as ever. come on hillary!” you slid out of the car before she could retaliate, groaning at the nickname.
you knew from the way your phone had been blowing up that your sister was already here, having arrived earlier this morning with lotte and beth.
so it wasn’t any real surprise when you’d hardly stepped a foot out of the car and she appeared, hovering at the top of the stairs with ella plastered to her side who sent you and grace a grin and a wave.
both of you grabbing your bags you flashed a smile and fist bumped the media staff who were filming entrances as you and grace ascended the stairs.
“ready for your first camp girls?” you and grace both echoed back a yes, grinning at the camera before someone wiggled their way in between you both and slung their arms over your shoulders.
"big sister gonna look out for you then?" the staff laughed as alessia beamed and squeezed both you and grace tightly. "well she's got big shoes to follow, we've been working on her backheel." alessia joked, the camera crew moving toward the next van which pulled up which was full of the city girls.
"less get off." you huffed, grace wiggling away and tackling ella in a hug, the taller of the two dragging them inside in a headlock as your sister only gripped you tighter.
"absolutely not, roomie." the older girl grinned smugly as your face fell. "oh you've gotta be kidding me!" you groaned throwing your head back in annoyance.
"she's messin with you, we don't share rooms anymore on camp." a new voice sounded behind you as you managed to throw off alessia's arm and charge toward them. "mazza!" you cheered happily, launching at her as she caught you with a grunt.
"baby russo!" the girl cheered in the same tone before dropping you back to your feet. "just my actual name is fine thank you." you shoved her playfully with a roll of your eyes. "not this camp or any camp after, that is your name now. or we could go with B.R for short?" mary teased tugging on your ears.
"i'm quite fond of her childhood nickname." alessia chimed in with a smirk as you sent her a murderous glare. "don't you dare, or i'll spill one of your secrets. and we both know that i have plenty of them to choose from!" you smirked back as her face fell.
"rat." alessia muttered, nodding for you to follow her as she grabbed your bags and headed for the elevator to show you to your room.
"we'll talk later. you spill some of those secrets and theres more where this came from kid." mary whispered, sliding a tenner into your pocket with a pat and a wink.
~
you were mid dream when you first heard it, the repeated thudding which seemed to leak into your subconscious as suddenly you realized you weren't dreaming anymore and someone was knocking furiously on your door.
raising your head from your pillow you blinked groggily and rubbed your eyes so hard you saw stars, stumbling out of bed and tripping over the corner of the duvet where your foot got stuck in bed.
hitting the ground with a thud and a grunt the knocking stopped for a moment and you paused, unsure if you'd imagined it.
"for god sakes hurry up!" nope, didn't imagine it.
"what?" you retorted grumpily, mornings your least favourite time of day as you rubbed your face and your sister barreled in past you without so much as a greeting.
"go away alessia its too early!" you groaned, shutting the door and trudging back toward your bed. "you haven't even hung anything up? for god sakes this is a hotel this isn't your bedroom at home you can't just fling shit around and leave your mess everywhere like a tornado!" your sister lectured with a click of her tongue, busying herself picking things up and putting them away.
"i've not even been here for twenty four hours yet less surely that stick up your ass is gonna sting something terrible by the end of the week?" you grumbled, sliding back into bed as your sister shot you a filthy look at her shoulder.
"hilarious. but you have to be professional here and set a good reputation for yourself, especially your first camp. that means up on time, early for breakfast, one of the first to the pitch, extra reps in the gym-" you tuned her out, quite the expert at it by now, eyes slipping closed again.
"urgh get off!" you moaned as a weight settled on top of you, wheezing slightly as alessia made herself comfortable sitting on your back. "you have...forty six seconds to get up yourself before i drag you out of this bed by your ankles and we both know i will!" your sister threatened seriously, checking her watch.
"you're so fucking annoying. this is worse than when we both lived at home, at least then you also used to hate mornings!" you exhaled deeply, star fishing out on the bed as she wriggled and purposefully bore more of her taller form into you.
"twenty nine, twenty eight, twenty seven..." the blonde counted down ignoring your statements. "can hardly get up myself with you on top of me can i bigfoot?" you snapped, alessia rolling off of you and squealing as your leg kicked out to push her off the bed.
"right! three, two, one." and with that she flung the covers off, grabbing your ankles and true to her word yanking you out of bed, your body hitting the carpeted floor with a thump as she loomed over you.
"get dressed. if theres no pancakes when we get to breakfast i will be holding you personally responsible and you will pay for it!" your older sister warned, grabbing your top in hand and hauling you up to your feet, shoving a pile of clothes into your hand and pushing you toward the bathroom.
"stop manhandling me hagrid!" you snapped as alessia chose to ignore you, making your bed up and getting herself comfortable on top of it, scrolling through her phone as you snatched yours from the nightstand.
"hurry up!" you were trying to brush your hair back into something more presentable, face still puffy from your half asleep state as her fist thumped loudly against the door.
with a roll of your eyes you gave up, flipping your head and tying your hair up into a messy bun. poking at the bags under your eyes with a sigh, the impatient knocking continuing as you quickly covered them up with a few dabs of concealer.
"i hope you break your hand." you spoke in a monotone as you flung the door open, barely having ten seconds to step outside before her hands grabbed the collar of your jumper and dragged you out of the room.
"let go less! i'm not four years old trying to run away in a shopping centre for god sakes i don't need you to hold my hand i am an adult." you huffed, ripping your hand away from hers and storming off ahead to the elevator as alessia hung back for a second to wait for ella to catch up.
"might need this though? and everyone says you're the genius in the family." alessia held up your key card which was the only thing that allowed you to enter and exit the elevator, holding it out of your reach.
"say sorry for being so grumpy." alessia demanded with a smug smile as you tried to stretch for the card without luck, your sister always having had a head or two of height on you with her ridiculously long limbs.
"no! didn't you make a big song and dance about not being late for breakfast? because the only one making us late is you!" the older girl groaned as you punched her half heartedly in the stomach, snatching the key as she doubled over.
"mary she's tryna kill me!" you hid behind the taller keeper using her body as a shield as she joined you with grace in tow, alessia sending you daggers from across the elevator as mary chuckled but remained a nice protective barrier between the two of you anyway.
"alessia!" you protested as your sister snatched your plate, dumping what you'd already chosen and picking your food for you, pushing you away every few seconds with her spare hand as you tried to intervene.
"why are you such a mum? i can pick my own food!" you demanded which was dismissed with a flick of her hand, too busy chattering away to ella to pay you and your whinging any attention.
"you have to fuel your body properly and that means a balanced breakfast." the blonde lectured, holding your plate hostage in her hands as she walked off.
with your food held captive you were forced you to follow her as you sent grace a pleading look who only smirked and shook her head, sat at a different table than the one your sister sat down at.
"baby russo! where have you been hiding then? i missed you." lucy pulled you into a hug as you took your seat beside her and across from alessia who finally slid your plate over to you. "hiding from her!" you grumbled, stabbing your eggs and shooting alessia a glare who smiled and wiggled her fingers at you in a sarcastic wave.
you sighed and glanced down at your plate which granted was loaded, but not with everything you'd have put on it thanks to your sisters apparent new nutritionist qualifications.
your face lit up as mary joined the table, subtly dumping two hashbrowns and an extra piece of bacon onto your plate with a wink as she sat on your other side squishing you between her and lucy as the three of you fell into conversation.
"oi baby russo, sarina wants to see ya." you'd finished eating as millie suddenly appeared, nodding for you to follow her as your face paled a little, head swirling with a hundred worries of why she might want to see you, all of them negative.
"i can take her mills." your sister stepped in with a reassuring smile as millie headed off to grab breakfast. "come on." she stood with a flick of her head as mary squeezed your shoulder and stacked your empty plate on top of hers.
following after your sister you didn't speak a single word, holding your breath until you stepped out of the cafeteria and the noise and chatter of the team ceased, exhaling shakily.
"come here." your sister spoke softly and opened her arms as you settled into them, your own wrapping around her torso as she embraced you, chin resting on the top of your head.
"i know all you can think of is bad reasons why she wants to see you, but if you freak out and focus on all of the what ifs then you're going to ruin this opportunity for yourself before we even start." alessia murmured, rubbing your back comfortingly.
"she probably just wants to check how you're settling in and go through the motions with you. so stop overthinking because i can hear your tiny little brain going into a meltdown." she teased lightly as you cracked a smile.
she let you go but her arm slipped over your shoulder drawing you into her side as she walked you down to the office, pausing a couple doors down and turning you to face her.
"i love you, sarina loves you, the girls loves you. this is your moment, grab it with two hands and make the most of it yeah? show them why you got called up and why you've earned a place on this team." her hands settled on your shoulders as if trying to charge you up with confidence as you nodded.
she might be overbearing, overprotective and over dramatic at the best of times. but alessia would always be your big sister and secretly, you'd never tell her this, without her you wouldn't be half the human let alone the footballer you were, and it flooded you with relief to take the plunge into this next step of your career with her by your side.
again you didn't dare to tell her that for fear of the relentless teasing that would follow. but you didn't need to anyway, she already knew, because sisters always know.

masterlist
As the PR person, part of your job is to follow Lewis around. For the most part, you enjoy it. Lewis is a great friend and despite your hectic schedule, the pay is great, definitely enough to provide for yourself and Lucas with lots more to spare. It was the opportunity of a lifetime and you were quick to grab it.
You mostly got along with everyone, mechanics, other PR teams and drivers alike. You’re a floater, always floating around the paddocks and making friends with anyone you find yourself with and so nearly everyone knows your name. Your bubbly nature is easy to get along with and you consider most of them your friends despite the team they’re in. Well, all except one.
You’re under the impression that Max Verstappen must hate you. Every time you try to approach him, he’s quick to turn the other way. Every time you try to start a conversation, he gives out one liners as answers and is quick to escape you. Eventually, you stop trying. You never want to invade his personal space or break his boundaries. You know you can’t get along with everyone and Max is known for his brash behavior and focus on the sport.
And in fact, you already have things to think about. Your job is a dream, a balance between travel and luxury. The people you meet and the sights you see are things money can’t buy but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Your son, only two years old, often travels with you most weekends along with your best friend but you know that different hotel rooms every week and barely a sense of stability is not the best thing for a toddler.
The thought of leaving the job you adore so very much causes you heartache though. You love the thrill and the travels. You love the people and the adrenaline. The highest of highs and the lowest of lows. You love it all, but at the same time, Lucas is always of the highest priority. Despite only having the job for less than four years, you’re already contemplating the possibility of quitting. You’ll find other jobs and sure, they probably won’t pay as much but you’ll be with Lucas, watching him grow up.
“You have that look in your eyes again,” Lewis comments as you wait for the press conference to start. You’re still in the Mercedes hospitality and you take advantage of the catering as you throw your good friend a questioning glance. “When you’re thinking too hard.”
Your relationship with Lewis has been a close one since you started your job. Being only twenty three years old, Lewis considers you almost as a little sister. Apart from Lucas, you have no family left and so you often spend your holidays and free time with the Hamiltons. You adore each and every one of them and Lewis is one of the most important people in your life.
“Just thinking about Lucas,” you said. Being a single, young mother meant that you often spend most of your time worrying about everything all at once and after the holidays is always the hardest, just as Lucas is beginning to get used to having you around all the time only for you to go away again.
Before Lewis can ease your worries, your phone alarms, reminding you that it’s time for you to head to the conference room to meet with the other PR personels. The rest of you always arrive before the drivers. You place down your drink and show Lewis your phone, already running out before he can say anything.
You shake your head to clear yourself of your thoughts, putting yourself back in work mode as you walk through the paddock. You suddenly curse yourself for not wearing a thicker jacket as you shiver from the european air.
At that moment, you catch sight of a certain red bull driver. And despite yourself, despite repeating again and again that it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t like you and that you should stop trying, you can’t help but approach him anyways. You plaster a smile on your face as you jog towards him.
“Hey,” you greet brightly. “How was your holiday?”
He nearly jumps at the sight of you beside him, immediately taking notice of your shivering figure. “Good.”
“Oh.” Your smile falters a little bit but you push through it. “That’s good! Good luck on the race tomorrow and see you around.”
And with that, you’re walking away.
Max never considered himself a shy person till you. The moment you stepped into the paddock with that bright smile on your face, you’re all his dreams come true. You carry yourself with such elegance that you have him following and anticipating your every move. The only problem? You wear your silver Mercedes shirt so proudly that you barely paid him any glance.
Pining after you for four years is probably pathetic at this point but there’s something about you that makes it nearly impossible for him to form more than short sentences. When you’re near him, your scent overtaking his senses, Max shuts down. His heart beats so fast that he can almost hear it.
Rushing to his driver's room, he pulls out a logoless jacket from his backpack, making sure there’s nothing about it that will show that it belongs to him. He’s relieved to find his own PR personnel still in the hospitality, just about getting ready to leave.
“Hey,” he says, handing his jacket. “Do you mind handing this to Y/N Y/L/N? Don’t tell her it’s from me.”
The red bull PR woman gave Max a knowing smile as she accepted the jacket. “You know, Max, you should try asking her out.”
Max says nothing. Everyone seems to know about his pathetic infatuation with you apart from you.
---
Max gets P1 but Carlos will be starting pole. You know that no one is happy with Mercedes’ performance today and so nearly everyone retires to their hotel rooms early including you.
That night, as your toddler refuses to go to sleep, the two of you find yourselves in the nearest convenience store, your hand firmly holding Lucas’ while his other hand grips his giraffe stuffed toy, sucking on a pacifier as you look around for snacks.
“Mommy!” Lucas screamed just as you let go of his hand to reach for the top shelf, already running to the next aisle to grab a pack of skittles. “Kittles!”
Your face scrunched up as you looked over at your son with the biggest grin on his face. “You really have no plans to sleep tonight, do you?”
If possible, his grin grows bigger. “Kittles?”
“Fine but only because you’ve been good all week.”
The way he ran to you to hug your legs in thanks is almost enough for the inevitable headache you’ll be having tomorrow after what will surely be a sleepless night. You pick Lucas up and place him on your hip. You were so occupied trying to understand the nutritional content of the belgian snack you’re holding that you hadn’t realized the person in front of you till you bumped into him.
“I’m so sorry–” you start to say only to find Max holding a box of condoms. “Oh. Hi, Max.”
“Y/N!” His voice is a little high pitched as he says your name, one you hadn’t known he even knew. He tries to hide the box of condoms behind him, cheeks immediately turning red. “It’s not– I’m not– It’s not for me.”
You couldn’t help but laugh. “It’s alright, Max. It’s none of my business. And you should be celebrating getting the fastest time.”
If possible, your statement seems to only make him blush harder. “It’s really not! My trainer asked me to get it for him since I run out of shampoo and–”
“You really don’t have to explain yourself to me, Max,” you interrupt despite finding his flustered face to be one of the most adorable things you’ve seen. “If anything, it’s a good thing you’re being safe.”
“I swear it’s not for me.” God, Max really really hates the timing of the universe at that moment. He wants the ground to open up and swallow him whole. “My trainer asked me to get it since I’m already here anyways. You can even ask him to confirm tomorrow. I’m not sleeping with anyone. I don’t have a girlfriend. I haven’t even been on a date in three years much less sleep with anyone which sound really pathetic now that I say it out loud but–”
By some miracle, Lucas decides to save him more embarrassment as the toddler removes his pacifier to speak, clutching a giraffe stuffed toy and a small bag of skittles within one tiny hand. “I’m Wucas.”
“It’s Lucas,” you say softly, both to Max and your son. “He’s still struggling with his Ls.”
Max, with his tomato red face, takes a few moments to compose himself. He notices that you’re still wearing his jacket, the much too big piece of clothing hanging from your shoulders. You’ve ditched your Mercedes shirt and when you lean towards him for half a second, he can smell his own cologne clinging to you as you laugh.
“Hi, Lucas,” he says finally, greeting your son with a smile on his face. “I’m Max.”
“Maxie!” Lucas immediately dubs, trying to shake your arms off him as he attempts to crawl towards the red bull driver. Max throws you a panicked look as Lucas snuggles to his chest.
“Luke, wait–” you try to say but the two year old has no plans to listen, already settling himself in Max’s arms. It’s your turn to blush. “I’m so sorry, Max. Lucas, you can’t just jump to people without asking their permission first.”
Max smiles for the first time since you met him. Of course, you’re sure he’s smiled a ton of times since then but this would be the first time he’s smiled at you and definitely the first time he smiled for you.
“It’s alright,” Max assures you. After rambling about condoms and having revealed that he’s been suffering for blue balls the past four years (because of you since ever since meeting you, it seems as though Max is suddenly unable to form any sexual attraction with anyone and definitely unable to form any romantic attractions), he can’t help but feel much more at ease around you. “Are you guys done?”
You try not to pay too much attention to what the sight of Max holding Lucas does to you and instead hold up the Belgian snack you were inspecting along with bottles of water and Lucas’ skittles. “Just need to pay for these.”
“I can walk you back to the hotel,” he said, nervousness immediately creeping in the moment confusion formed in your face. “Only if you want, of course. I just meant I’m going the same way and it’s pretty late.”
For four years, you’ve been under the impression that Max holds a weird dislike at you. You’ve tried being nice to him, offering food, wishing him luck every weekend but you’re usually only met with one liners. You’re used to his obvious dismissal of you but you’re definitely not used to his sudden kindness.
However, you’re never one to turn down a good deed. It is late, you’re in a foreign country and you know that you’re staying in the same hotel. What’s wrong with accepting a concern offer?
You smile at him and Max could have sworn his heart stopped. “Sure,” you say. “Just give me a minute to pay for these.”
You weren’t even halfway to the hotel when the two of you heard Lucas’ small snores, his head on Max’s shoulder and tiny arms wrapped around the dutchman. You move to take him but Max assures you that it’s okay.
“Can I ask you something?” You say, hands fiddling with the strings of the jacket you’re wearing. Max nods. “Why don’t you like me?”
The surprise in Max’s face is evident as he faces you. “You think I don’t like you?”
When he’s asking it like that, as though the idea is ridiculous, you can’t help but feel a little ridiculous yourself. You feel like a teenager asking an idiotic question, but you force yourself to continue. “I mean I’ve tried getting to know you and you never seem interested.”
“I don’t dislike you,” he says slowly, hesitance clear in his voice. There’s something about tonight that makes him want to admit his feelings. “Quite the opposite, in fact.”
You notice the way his cheeks once again tint an obvious pink and you try not to think too much at the fact that he looks so natural holding Lucas in his arms, your son sleeping so comfortably. “What do you mean?”
“I like you a little too much,” he says quietly, looking at anywhere but you as he feels his blood rush to his cheeks. “I feel like a school boy with a crush when I’m talking to you and I never want to embarrass myself so I just don’t.”
Your breath hitched in your throat at his little confession. And Max thought he might as well continue while he still has the courage to. God knows when he’ll get the chance again. “Making a fool of myself in front of you is a genuine fear of mine and you make me so incredibly nervous.”
You stare at him as if he’s grown two heads. “I make you nervous?”
“Yes, very much. As shown earlier by my mouth running from me.”
“I have a son,” you say, almost mechanically. You’ve learned early on that men don’t like dating women with children. You can understand, of course. No one wants that added responsibility especially so early on in your lives so you just stopped dating altogether, focussing all of your time to work and Lucas.
A small smile spread across Max’s face. “I know and I don’t care. I’d love to get to know Lucas some more and you don’t have to answer now, but I’d really love to take you out to dinner. I’ve wanted to since the day I met you.”
“Max, I–”
“You don’t have to say anything now,” he interrupts. “Think about it and let me know tomorrow. Either way, I’ll respect your answer.”
The next morning, Lewis and Angela manage to convince you to bring Lucas to the paddock, the toddler all set up in Mercedes merch as he hangs from your hips or chases Roscoe around. Currently, you’re in Lewis’ drivers room with the two aforementioned people, Lucas bouncing on Lewis’ knee and Angela going through her ipad.
“Everyone knew, Y/N,” Lewis said after you filled them up about last night and Max. “Man looked like his puppy died the day he found out you were pregnant.”
“Who do you think has been leaving flowers for you every holiday?” Angela asked.
Every holiday whether it be the last day before christmas break or summer break, valentines day, a bouquet of flowers is always delivered to you, never with a card or even a clue of who it might be from. You always thought it’s from a mechanic, maybe one of the few who’d asked you out throughout your time working with them. The revelation that it was from Max was mind boggling to you. You began working as an intern in Mercedes four years ago, straight out of high school. Angela took a liking to you and took you right under her wing but you’ve only been actively working with them for three years after you took a year long break once Lucas was born and throughout it, you’ve always been under the impression that the dutchman dislikes you.
“Why did no one ever tell me?” You asked, your head spinning as Lucas’ giggles filled the room.
“No one actually thought it’d take him four years to own up to it,” Angela says. “And for the most part, I genuinely thought he’d gotten over it. He’s gotten a little more subtle when it comes to staring at you.”
At that moment, a knock was heard throughout the cramped space, making you stand up to find Max and another man clad in red bull merch on the other side of the door.
“Maxie!” Lucas exclaimed happily, immediately climbing out of Lewis’ lap and running to the dutchman. “Maxie! Maxie!”
Max chuckled, kneeling to pick up the little boy. “Hey, Luke. How are you doing?”
“Maxie, want your cap,” Lucas says, small hands already reaching for the red bull cap on Max’s head. For his part, Max didn’t hesitate at removing it, placing it on Lucas’ much smaller head.
“Traitor,” Lewis muttered from behind you guys, earning a chuckle out of everyone.
“Hey,” you greet. “What are you doing here?”
Max’s orange and blue looks out of place around the silver and white, so much so that the mechanics passing by stared at him.
“That would be because of me,” the man Max came with spoke up. “I’m Bradley, Max’s personal  trainer. I hope we aren’t interrupting.”
You throw a glance at Max’s direction before offering your hand for Bradley to shake. “Nice to meet you, Bradley. I’m Y/N and no, you’re not interrupting. We’re just killing time before the drivers’ parade.”
“Oh trust me, I know all about you. Max doesn’t shut up about you–” Max, who was engaged in a conversation with Lucas (mainly consisting of him agreeing to everything the little boy said) reached forward to lightly smack Bradley on the back of his head. “I mean, I just came here to tell you that the condoms from last night are, in fact, mine and that Max is not seeing or even sleeping with anyone.”
You can’t help the genuine laugh that escaped past your lips as you realized the purpose of their visit. Max is still ridiculously focused on whatever Lucas is babbling about, making a point not to look at you as his cheeks burn bright red all the way to his neck and ears.
“Thank you for confirming that, Bradley, but I believed Max last night.”
Max turned to you, still not meeting your eyes. “Just making sure. It isn’t exactly the best look.”
You couldn’t help the flutter in your chest. Maybe Lewis and Angela are right. You should give this a chance. You deserve to fall in love, right? You deserve to be loved and cared for and adored. You go on your tiptoes, planting a soft kiss on Max’s cheek which left the dutch man in shock, his heart beating out of his chest.
“Good luck out there,” you said softly, prying Lucas away from him. “I’ll be rooting for you.”
“Go, Maxie!” Lucas shouted gleefully as Max stood stunned. Loving you from afar has always been thrilling but he’s not quite sure his heart could take loving you so close by.
A few hours later, after consoling a heartbroken Lewis and making sure he’s okay, you can’t help but cheer along with the red bull garage as Max crosses the checkered flags. Lucas jumps along with you, the two of you running out of the Mercedes Hospitality into the track.
“Maxie! Maxie!” Lucas screams happily as you carry him, hands clapping together excitedly and noise canceling headphones enveloping his small head. You’re sure you must look out of place in your Mercedes merch cheering along with the sea of orange and you’re sure that some fan would probably take a picture and post it on social media but still, you can’t help your excitement as Max climbs out of his car.
Max, in his own excitement and bliss, overjoyed at the sight of you cheering for him and Lucas screaming his name happily, red bull cap still on, seems to have completely forgotten about the camera as he ran towards you, wrapping both arms around the two of you as you laughed, accepting his embrace.
You’re sure the camera must have focused on you now and you’re sure everyone will be talking about it come tomorrow morning but you can’t find it in yourself to care as you laughed, letting him pull you both against his chest.
“Maxie, you went vroom vroom so fast!” Lucas exclaimed, hands wildly swinging about in his own excitement.
Max didn’t hesitate to take Lucas from your arms as though he’s done it a thousand times before and for some reason, you hadn’t hesitated handing your son to him as though it’s the most natural thing ever.
Beaming from ear to ear, you spoke up. “So about that dinner date.”
Max turned to you, hope and excitement clear in his eyes. “Yeah?”
“How does seven pm sound?”
Max’s grin stretched as he wrapped an arm around you again, feeling as though he’s at the top of the world. At that moment, he realized that nothing beats this. Nothing beats finally having you in his arms, you smiling at him as though he hangs the moon and the stars or the sound of Lucas screaming and cheering his name.
Not even a championship beats this feeling. “That sounds perfect.”
—
In the months you spend with Max, you begin hating yourself more and more for not catching on to his feelings sooner. Falling for him was inevitable. At the end of your first date, the two of you were already planning your second. By the end of your second date, you were both so giddy and happy that as soon as you got home, after putting Lucas to sleep, you and Max were on the phone, spending the night awake as you talked about everything and nothing all at once.
Your third date was unplanned with Lucas absolutely deciding that he can’t go to sleep unless Max is next to him, you were forced to call up the dutchman, sheepishly explaining the situation as you shyly invited him into your hotel room.
Max hadn’t even hesitated agreeing, already knocking on your door a minute later. The three of you spent the night watching disney movies till Lucas’ snores began, small body sprawled across Max’s chest. Your hands found each other under the blanket, tightly entwining.
“This is my favorite date,” he told you in the darkness, voice quiet as to not wake Lucas.
“Yeah,” you agreed, giving his hand a squeeze. “It might be mine too.”
Your fourth date was canceled. Max was called into red bull HQ, ending up with him giving you an apologetic call as the stewardess reminds him to put his phone on airplane mode as they’re about to take off. Max promised to call you as soon as he landed. He doesn’t end up calling till a few hours later, catching you by surprise as you accepted the facetime call and saw him wearing a suit and tie, candlelit dinner in front of him.
Still, he called you the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen at least two times throughout your virtual dinner despite the fact that you’re only wearing your pajamas and eating take out mcdonalds. The two of you fell asleep on facetime.
On your fifth date, Max insists on staying in and cooking for you and Lucas. Unfortunately, he’s pretty bad at cooking. Fortunately, he’s adorable and so you end up rescuing the mashed potatoes from him, Max slightly pouting as you order him to the side where he situated himself on the countertop, trying to salvage your dinner.
You move towards him, situating yourself between his legs as you cup his cheeks, making Max take a deep breath at your sudden closeness. Despite being with you, he still often finds himself in awe that he doesn’t need to pine after you from far away.
“You’re adorable,” you tell him with a smile, planting a small kiss on his jaw as his hands move to your hips, trying to pull you closer towards his body.
“Be my girlfriend?” He asked, trying to guide your lips against his.
“Yes,” you answer without the need to think about it. “I thought you’d never ask.”
Your lips were just about to touch when a pair of little arms wrapped around Max’s leg. Lucas, who was previously in the living room keeping busy with the miniature race cars Max bought for him, must have noticed that something was happening in the kitchen that he wants to be a part of.
“Maxie, mommy!” Lucas called, raising his arms up as a sign to pick him up. You do so, placing him on Max’s leg as the dutchman wrapped his arms around the two of you, placing his chin on the top of your head as you leaned against his shoulder.
“Hey, buddy,” Max greets your son.
Lucas practically glowed from Max’s attention as he held up his small Red Bull race car. “Maxie, look! Is you!”
Max plants a small kiss on the top of Lucas’ head and for a moment, you’re terrified of what could be. Your heart fears losing Max already despite only being official with him. The thought of losing this, the thought of losing this, feels all so terrifying for you as you watch the two of them.
Max seems to have caught your fear as he tightens his arms around you, meeting your eyes. “We’ll be okay. I’m never letting you go. I’m here till you want me here.”
You smile, melting into his touch as Lucas demands his attention again. Maybe you are making a mistake so quickly introducing Max into Lucas’ life. Maybe this will all be heartbreak with all three of you crying.
Or maybe it won’t. Maybe it’ll be okay after all.
Next week after that, you file your resignation letter with Lewis’ encouragement. You’ll be going back to university at the end of the season and Toto tells you that if you ever want to come back, you always have a place with them. You shed a tear or two as he offers you a hug.
That same morning, you walk into the paddock hand in hand with Max for the first time and you’re sure the three of you look a little ridiculous with you in your mercedes merch, Max in red bull and Lucas on his shoulder in both but your fear of people talking seems to be in vain as everyone else was more interested in making fun of Max rather than scrutinizing your relationship.
“And here I thought you’d never actually ask her out!” Daniel, to no one’s surprise, turns out to be Max’s biggest headache as he grins at the sight of the three of you.
But Max is unbothered by them all, far too happy with finally being able to love you in the open to care. “Me too, mate, me too.”
Four months after you and Max began dating, you find yourself moving into his Monaco home, the three of you spending your afternoons painting Lucas’ new room before his small birthday party in two days.
“Maxie, I want it red,” says your almost three year old. “I’m gonna be a racer one day like you!”
Max’s grin widened at your son’s announcement. You know this already as the two of them are already counting down till Lucas can start karting. “You sure will, Mijn liefde.” My love.
“I’m gonna drive for ferrari!”
At that announcement, Max turned to Lucas so fast that you feared he might get a whiplash. “For what?”
“Ferrari!” Lucas says as though he’s just cured cancer. “Uncle Charles said it’s the best team in the world.”
You couldn’t help but burst out laughing at the horrified look on Max’s face. Being with Max, you can’t help but be closer to the other drivers. Before, you didn’t really get much chance considering that Lewis rarely joins along, preferring to keep to himself and his close knit of friends but now, it’s clear to you that Max, Daniel, Charles and a bunch of other drivers hold a close friendship, especially those who all live in Monaco.
“Uncle Charles needs to keep his mouth shut,” Max says, looking genuinely stressed as he kneeled in front of Lucas, holding the grinning little boy down. Your son looks so much like you that Max can’t help but love him too but even if he didn’t, Max would love him anyway. Lucas looks up to Max. Anyone who’s ever seen the two together can see that and Max swore he’d be the best father figure in his life. “Don’t listen to uncle Charles, he’s just being a baby that my really fast Red Bull car beat him out of the championship. Ferrari is shit.”
You laugh, placing a hand on his shoulder in a faux attempt to comfort him. The entire situation is so amusing to you that you can’t even find it in yourself to scold him about cursing in front of a child.
“Ferrari is shit!” Lucas announced happily, a toothless grin showing as he threw himself at Max’s chest, the driver always ready to catch him.
“Lucas, that's a bad word,” you say but still, your grin is wide.
“No, no, wait,” Max says, holding your son in one arm as he pulls his phone out of his pocket, turning on the camera and pointing it at Lucas. “Say it again, Luke, but this time add ‘and red bull is better’.”
“Ferrari is shit and red bull is better!” Lucas was more than happy to oblige, always ready to do anything for Max’s praise and attention.
“Max!” You scold but your boyfriend only gives you a grin, mirroring Lucas’ so much that they almost look like they might be blood related.
Max sends the video to Charles, to which the monegasque replies with his own video message dramatically frowning and pretending to wipe nonexistent tears. “I’m very very offended, little Verstappen.”
You were so happy that you hadn’t even noticed the nickname the rest of the divers had given your son.
That night, as you both tuck Lucas in with Max reading him a story, the little boy on his chest and you leaning against his knee, you watch as Lucas tries to cuddle deeper into Max’s chest, his tiny hands clutching at the driver’s shirt as Max’s voice become quieter and quieter as he finishes reading.
Seeing Lucas grow up heals your inner child. Seeing him with everything you didn’t get, with the love and affection you craved but didn’t have makes you feel as though you’re doing something right. Even his room, from his rotating planet nightlights to the lego formula 1 cars on his shelf and the books lining his walls. He has everything he could need and want and more and you almost want to cry at the thought that you were able to provide him all of this.
Max seems to be overcome with his own emotions as he watches the little boy sleep in awe, hand reaching forward to gently push back Lucas’ hair as though he couldn’t quite believe that something so beautiful is in his arms.
Planting a soft kiss on the top of Lucas’ head, the two of you move to leave his room but Lucas’ hold on Max only tightens as Max tries to unclench his fist.
“I don’t think he wants to let go,” Max told you quietly as Lucas shifts, snuggling closer to Max’s body like a moth drawn to the flame.
“No, daddy,” the little boy muttered sleepily, objecting to Max’s attempt to move away, causing you and Max to immediately halt your movements.
“Did he just–” Max begins and you feel your head spinning.
You love Max and if there’s something in this world that you’re sure of, is that he loves you and Lucas too. He’s always shown it and never failed to let you know but above all, your son is your priority. The thought of you and Max not working out and Lucas being left heartbroken fills you with so much dread. You know Max will never purposely hurt you or Lucas but sometimes things just happen, relationships just fail and people just fall out of love. There’s nothing certain in this world and less of all, a man. You learned that the hard way and you never want Lucas to learn it too.
You feel Max’s hand softly placed on your cheek, seemingly having read all of your thoughts and fears from your eyes. “I’m not going to promise you anything because promises mean nothing but I will show you. I will show you that if you’ll let me, I’m more than ready to be the best father Lucas needs and I’m here to stay hopefully forever. I’m all in, Y/N. I love you and I love him more than I ever thought possible.”
You face him, leaning into his touch as you hold his hand on your cheek, placing a kiss on his palm. He’s right, he can’t promise you anything but you’re willing to give him the chance to show you. “Okay.”
—
The next race weekend, you found yourself sitting in a lounge chair in Monaco as Max and Checo do PR (something that involves ducks and a pool) along with the Red Bull Marketing, your laptop fired up as you edit things to post for the official Mercedes instagram later. Some must still find it weird, you in your Merc merch following Max around in your free time but most of them are used to it, even welcoming you and considering you a friend now.
On the chair next to you, Lucas had his afternoon nap, now three years old, sucking on his thumb as the world about him goes around. He rarely ever misses a weekend now, usually with you or Max. He promises to be on his best behavior so long as you let him come with you and for the most part, he’s kept the promise.
“Oh hey!” Max exclaimed happily, his face lighting up at the sight of the fish toy. “We got this thing at home!”
You looked up at his statement, immediately recognizing the sight of the yellow fish toy that you both love and hate. For the most part, it makes bath time so much easier but at the same time, if you have to hear baby shark one more time, you think you might just lose your mind.
As if on cue, your boyfriend put his hands on his hips, a smile painting his face. “Baby shark doo doo doo doo doo doo doo. It’s when my son is having a bath that we have that thing.”
Your eyes widened, seemingly along with everyone else’s. The fans know you and know Lucas, a newest fan favorite with his appearances in the paddock screaming Maxie in the happiest voice but Max had never actually called the little boy his son. Lucas has always been your son in everyone else’s eyes and yet Max’s so very casual and natural admittance of the mere fact had your heart bursting.
Max’s loud laughter as he sang baby shark must have woken Lucas as his eyes fluttered open, looking around. Jealousy almost blossomed in your chest in the way your son’s eyes barely glanced in your direction before stopping on Max’s figure if only you weren’t so grateful that he’s getting such a loving father.
“Daddy!” Lucas called, cutting Max off mid sentence as the little boy jumped to his feet, running towards the dutchman, who’s kneeling by the pool side tinkering with the toy fish.
“Luke!” You called, trying to stop him but one of the Red Bull Marketing only smiled at you, letting you know it’s okay as Max picked up Lucas.
“It’s okay, we’re almost done anyways,” the red bull personnel let you know and you thought that for a team that’s so hated, they’ve always been so kind and understanding to you.
“Hey, bud, I thought you were sleeping?” Max asked, voice immediately becoming softer as he pushed back Lucas’ hair, trying to see if there’s anything wrong.
“Hi, uncle Checo,” Lucas muttered sleepily, ignoring Max's question, giving the Mexican a small wave as he rested his head on his father’s shoulder.
“Hi, little Verstappen,” Checo smiles.
You stand up, approaching them as you try to get Lucas back but your son only holds on to Max tighter before you can even reach them, his eyes sleepy and fluttering shut. “Stay with daddy.”
“Can he stay with me?” Max asks you and the marketing team in charge.
“No problem, we’re done anyways,” they said with a smile.
“Are you sure?” You asked, still out of the camera’s view.
Max only smiles at you as he shifts Lucas’ weight to one arm. “Ja, mijn liefste.” Yes, my love.
You’ve heard that sentence enough to understand it as you hesitantly returned to your seat and they continued their filming, a sleeping Lucas now hanging by Max’s side. They continue filming, saying their goodbyes to the camera as you pack up yours and Lucas’ things.
“And that’s all,” the red bull marketing said, cutting the cameras as Max walked over to you, his free arm wrapping around your waist.
“If I didn’t love the two of you so much, I would have been jealous with his obvious favoritism to you,” you joke as you lean to his touch, causing Max to laugh out loud.

(i'm gonna call this part two and a half. part one, two, three)
Trust Dustin Henderson to make an entrance.
With a healthy dose of reluctance, Steve pulls away from Eddie to look over his shoulder at Dustin, who is standing in the doorway with his hands on his head. His question, Holy shit, is that Eddie Munson? hangs in the air.
Steve looks back at Eddie. “So wait, are you actually famous?” he asks, “Because I thought there was still like a thirty-five percent chance that Robin was messing with me.”
“Oh my God, you’re so fucking adorable,” Eddie says, grabbing him by the front of his shirt and pulling him back in roughly.
“Can someone tell me what the hell is happening?” Dustin asks.
A voice that sounds a lot like Max’s chimes in. “Steve is making out with Eddie Munson in Nancy and Robin’s kitchen,” she says, “Catch up.”
Eddie pulls away, grinning at Steve. “Do you want to introduce me to your friends?”
So Steve introduces Eddie to the new arrivals: Dustin, Max, Lucas, and Erica. Their reactions are exactly how Steve would have predicted if he had known more than five minutes ago that he brought a huge celebrity with him. Dustin is baffled and exuberant, Max is cool as a cucumber, Lucas is excited but polite, and Erica is acting above it all but secretly seems a little excited too. None of them seem to have any reaction to the kitten in his hands, but then, that’s the kind of party they signed up for.
Eventually, Robin comes in to beckon them all back into the living room. Steve plants himself cross-legged on the floor in between Eddie and El.
“Look at her, Stevie,” Eddie says, holding up his kitten. “Look how much better than her brothers and sisters she is.”
Steve looks between the other kittens and the one Eddie’s holding. “I don’t know, they all seem good.”
“He doesn’t mean that, sweetheart,” Eddie says, nuzzling his nose against the kitten’s tummy. It should be illegal for anything to be this adorable, actually. Steve sort of wants to set something on fire. “We both know you’re the superior kitten.”
Steve scratches the kitten behind the ears. “She is very cute.”
“Here, you hold her,” Eddie says, passing her off into Steve’s arms.
She rubs her head against his shoulder and purrs while Eddie presses closer to Steve’s side, one arm around his waist and his other hand petting the kitten. Steve can smell his cologne. It’s very distracting, but not quite distracting enough for him to notice that half of his friends are staring at them and whispering right now. But Steve’s not gonna worry about that. The hottest, most adorable guy he’s ever seen is currently wrapped around him cooing at a kitten. How could he possibly worry about anything?
After about twenty minutes, Eddie pulls out his phone. “Oh, my friend Gareth is here to get me,” he says.
Disappointment rises in Steve’s chest as Eddie takes the kitten back. He doesn’t want this to end. What if he never sees Eddie again? But then Eddie is looking at him with those gorgeous eyes and asking if he wants to come with. And of course Steve says yes. He gets to his feet and follows Eddie hand in hand, mouthing I’ll text you later to Robin over his shoulder. She gives him two thumbs up.
Outside, a very nice car that Steve couldn’t name is waiting at the curb. As they approach, the window rolls down, revealing a guy about their age with a fluffy mop of hair.
“Oh my God, that actually wasn’t a euphemism?” he calls, “You got a kitten for real?”
“Yeah!” Eddie says, pulling the door to the back seat open. He slides in, pulling Steve after him. “Meet Steve.”
“Is Steve the kitten or the guy?” the driver asks as he pulls away from the curve.
“The guy,” Eddie says, “The kitten does not have a name yet.” He turns to Steve and grins. “Stevie, this is my best friend and bandmate, Gareth.”
“Hey,” Steve says, giving an awkward wave.
Gareth gives him a skeptical look over his shoulder. “Are you a gold digger?”
“Uh, no?”
“It’s okay, Gar,” Eddie says, patting Gareth on the shoulder. “Stevie didn’t even know I was famous until his friend told him like half an hour ago. He just likes me for my raw animal magnetism.”
Steve can’t even argue with that. And Eddie is grinning at him like he knows it.
“Alright, now take us to PetSmart.”

This was stupid. This was so dumb.
Coat hung loosely around your shoulders, shoes in your hands as if to not make more noise than necessary, you snuck through the Small Heath Shelby house corridors. Almost cartoonishly so, when your frame passed one of the occupied rooms. If you had to guess, the last time you did that was years ago, when you were just a teenage girl with overprotective brothers, now you're an adult, rough-around-the-edges woman...with the same overprotective brothers.
Though, this time it's not a nice stableboy you're sneaking out to see. Now it seems like your brothers would have every right to threaten the man you're seeing with a blinding.
You slowly go down the old, wooden stairs, wincing at every crack and whine that echoes. The whole house is dark, the room illuminated only by the street lamps outside.
Almost...
Before you reach for the doorknob, you clumsily take the keys into your teeth to put your shoes on, which puts you in quite an embarrassing position when a table light behind you suddenly turns on.
"Aren't you a bit too old to be sneaking about Y/N?" Polly asked with a smugly raised eyebrow, nursing a glass of whiskey, legs crossed on the velvet red armchair. You spit out the keys.
"I'm not sneaking." You try to compose yourself as best as you can. "I'm going for a walk."
"Very conspicuous behaviour for a walk, love." The glass muffles her chuckle. Was she just...waiting here?
"I just don't want Tommy to get in my hair whenever I even look in the doors' direction." You whine. "I'll go crazy in this house soon." This seemed to soften Polly up just a bit, or maybe activate the part of her brain which insists on the 'fuck them' mentality when it comes to obeying Tommy's orders.
"Just don't get into trouble. God knows i need to tell you that." She dismissed you with a flick of the wrist, and you just nodded before rushing out the door, as if Polly could change her mind any second.
Street after street, the tension slowly eased off your shoulders as you were exiting the tight Shelby territory. It was a close call once in a while, someone almost recognizing you before you could cover your face more. A group of men whistling after you before you could disappear in a dark back alley. Slowly, you closed in on the place you agreed to meet a man by the name you even feared to say in your head, as maybe Tommy would sit there by sheer coincidence, resulting in you getting cut, or him, or both of you, how Shakespearean...
How has it gotten to the point where you are happily fucking the enemy? Devil knows, honestly.
In the back of your mind, you always had a nagging feeling Luca only started seeing you to spite Tommy. This wouldn't be a problem, of course, you regularly told yourself. You're spiting Tommy yourself!
No, that honestly didn't help. The truth is, whatever Changretta's intentions were, or, still are, you found him irresistibly captivating. Like a substance you just can't resist, one that soothes and pleasures, but at the same time comes with a fifty-page warning label. You can see this blowing up in your face from a mile away, in a million different ways. Yet, every visit, every phone call, hell, every sneakily delivered note shuts off any sense you have left in yourself.
And now you feel like losing it again, when just in front of the speakeasy Luca asked to meet you, a very familliar set of hands gently rest on your waist from behind.
"Took you long enough doll." A kiss on the cheek accompanies the low foreign drawl of Luca's voice, sending shivers down your neck and spine. Shit, if all of you will die soon, you might as well have some fun until then. It's not like Tommy's staying celibate in mourning.
"You're saying that to a doll that has to endure my brothers mythering about town. Sneaking out in the middle of the night isn't as easy for me as it is for you." With your arms crossed, you motion to one of the alleys you emerged from just moments ago. "There's all sorts of shady blokes out and about."
"M'sorry, i got impatient, that's all." You could feel his thumb gently rubbing against your waist "Anyone gave you trouble? You got the gun I got you?" Luca pulled back, looking you over, the slightest hint of concern visible in his dark eyes.
"Yes. To the second thing. I'll be fine." You sigh, relaxing your shoulders. "Are we going in?"
"Right this way cara." Luca's lips curled into a small smile. He linked your arms together and in a nearly over-the-top way led you down the stairs of the high-class Speakeasy.
You might as well have some fun, that's all this is after all.
Tumblr media
The loud whistle of the conductor woke you up from an on-and-off slumber, the train from Birmingham to London wasn't exactly the comfiest place to rest your head in. From outside the window, the ever-so-lively London train platform came into view.
To be honest, it surprised you when Luca invited you to spend the weekend in London, even more so when you managed to form quite an elaborate story to justify the trip to your family, or more accurately, Polly. Tommy seemed preoccupied with fighting the Italians, chasing the May lady around town, and making quite mediocre gin to even care what you were up to. Needless to say, officially you finally found a friend that you just have to visit. Polly seemed to pay it little mind, but the sly look in her eye, as she saw you off at the door, made you just a tad paranoid that she might have caught on.
Like always, this will bite you in the arse sooner or...sooner.
Up until now, every 'visit' you paid Luca hadn't lasted for more than half a day, only once reaching a full 24 hours when, to your horror, you managed to oversleep. That was a morning of sloppily put-on clothes and numerous muttered 'shits' and 'craps', of course, accompanied by a very amused Luca doing everything in his power to distract you.
What you were doing right now seemed like a step up from the usual routine. Two days aren't going to fly by with just sex, though, that wouldn't be so bad. But lately, you realized you just wanted to...ugh, spend time with him. However sappy this sounded. But that's not what this is. What even is 'this'? When you and Luca met, what happened was purely driven by want, maybe with more than a touch of curiosity of the 'forbidden fruit' in the form of the enemy. Sweet, with sour at the back of your tongue.
Lately, you realized, you only feel the sweet when you kiss Luca. And though you'd never admit it, you dread him not feeling the same.
You two have your moments. Pillow talks with topics never discussed with anyone before, coffee filled with banter worthy of an old married couple, and non-sexual touches that linger for just a bit longer than they should. It's addicting and confusing at the same time.
And that addiction and confusion just led you all the way to London.
Stretching out of your seat, you reach for your bag in the luggage compartment, only for a stranger to take it instead.
"There you go, Miss." The man, looking maybe a decade your senior smiled handing you the bag.
"Thank you, sir." You muster a polite smile, praying internally that the stranger isn't from the same place you are. "I could've done it myself though."
"It's really nothing, common kindness it is..." The longer he spoke, the more his voice trailed off. His eyes widened, studying your frame and most importantly, your face with a new approach. "You're-"
shit
"Thankyougoodbye." You rush and almost run out of the carriage, running into multiple people and throwing rushed half-assed apologies their way. You're stopped by a strong, painful grip on your arm, the man from before pushing you further down the platform, more secluded from people.
"I knew you were familiar." He grabbed the collar of your shirt and pushed you into a pillar roughly, knocking a bit of air out of your lungs. "One of those Shelby devils!" The man's gaze was furious, almost seeing red.
"Let me go." You ordered, trying your best not to attract attention to the both of you. "And we can both forget about this." You're trying your best to speak sternly and diplomatically, yet more than a hint of fear is hearable in your voice. He seems to notice.
"You ruined me!" The Brummie spat. "I'll cut your pretty face just like they cut me brothers." A rough, callous hand cupped your jaw to hold it in place, the other reaching into his jacket. You feel a mixture of panic and adrenaline make its way to your veins.
"Get the fuck off me!" All your strength goes towards your legs. You kicked him back a foot or two, which only seemed to infuriate him more. Before he could take even a step towards you, he's violently grabbed by... Wait, Luca?
"How 'bout you let the lady go, hm?" His grip on the brummies' collar turned red, almost lifting the man off the ground. That wasn't reflected at all in the way Luca was speaking however, for the first time he seemed...calm, condescending even. That only changed when the man didn't seem to take no for an answer. "That wasn't a fucking request." Luca's voice became a gravelly threat, which resulted in the attacker promptly looking between you and Luca as if weighing the risk and reward. Finally, he nodded his head frantically.
Luca didn't need to be told twice. He almost threw the man aside, letting him limp off into the distance. The Italian was almost immediately by your side, gently cupping your face, checking for any sign of hurt or damage. You feel his thumb caress a small spot next to your brow, despite you being almost sure you hadn't been hit anywhere near there. You take a look behind Luca to see the man at a larger distance.
"Wouldn't think you'd just let him go like that." You raise an eyebrow at Luca, not in a teasing way, it just feels oddly out of character for him to just let him go.
"Because I ain't gonna." He turns to a seemingly unaware civilian reading a newspaper, mumbling something that sounds like Italian, his head only slightly motioning towards the direction in which the Brummie fled. Ah, one of his men, cousin maybe. Just as he left, Luca stopped him for just a second more. "Alive." He let him go.
"Look at you, my knight in shining armour." You smile up at him while catching your breath and trying to calm down.
"Yeah yeah." He doesn't play into your teasing this time. "You alright?" He rubs your upper arm as if dusting off any remaining trace of the event before.
"Just a bit roughed up, had it worse after playfighting with Ada back in the day." You shrug. "I was prepared for you to bash his head in right here."
"That can wait a few days." His gaze followed a pair of men dragging the attacker off the station, his voice almost a promise.
"A few days? What happened to the vengeful, impatient Luca I know?"
"This Luca-" He holds out his arm for you to take. "-Is going to starve him a bit before giving him the mercy of a pipe through his skull."
"How romantic." You sigh in an exaggerated, lovesick voice. "Talk more like that and maybe I'll lift the 'no shop talk' policy." You wink at Luca as you link your arms together, his shoulder becoming the perfect pillow for your head. This time, Luca welcomes it happily.
"How gracious of you." His low chuckle meets yours as you head off to the London center. A fun weekend out is due, after all.
Tumblr media
Now, this was definitely an unusual location.
At first, it seemed to you that Luca must have just confused locations when calling. Yet here you were, on the outskirts of a local forest, your only companions in the form of singing starlings and rustling trees.
All this seemed like a rope that was being pulled from only one side. You were the one to stress about being found out, evading family, hell, call sometimes. You felt like a brat, honestly. Technically, there was nothing Luca did that should have upset you, he couldn't have if there were no rules. Was that the thing though? Did you want there to be rules?
With every visit, you want to stay longer, talk more, and Luca seemed to entertain all of it. It confused you. What plan did he have with all this? Did Luca want you to catch feelings and lure you into a vulnerable state, resulting in killing you? Maybe he counted on you as a potential ally against Tommy, trying to manipulate you. Maybe he's just incredibly dense?
He can't want an actual relationship. Luca came here to kill your whole family, including you. The fact that he also likes to play with his prey is another thing, hell, he probably has a wife or girl back in New York. There has to be a wedding band under one of these tacky rings and signets.
"What the hell is he planning?" You kick a pebble down the dirt road in frustration. "A damn Picnic?" You finish off with a groan as you squat down.
Your answer came in the form of the sound of a Rolls Royce engine heading closer and closer toward you, the black car kicking up a hefty amount of dust and rocks. As it slows down next to you and ultimately comes to a halt, you see the familiar face of Luca's right-hand man.
"Get in." Matteo nodded in the direction of the backseat, though you didn't take it into consideration, and immediately headed for the shotgun seat.
"What is all this?" You look around the car as it backs up and starts speeding off in the same direction it came from.
"Luca asked me to get you to him safely," Matteo explained, not taking his eyes off the road. "He didn't want any uhh, repeat from last time."
"How sweet." You answer sarcastically. Ah, of course, he couldn't bother.
"He was definitely sweet when he put the bozo out of his misery." He laughed, looking to the side, as if seeking approval for his joke, but didn't get any. Matteo's laughter dies into an awkward cough.
"How long's the ride?" You try to position yourself as comfortably as possible in the stiff leather seats of the car.
"About an hour." He answers, and you visibly deflate in your seat, deciding to spend the time looking at the sights outside, fields, and occasional houses passing by.
A long, awkward silence passes between the two of you. It seemed to bother the man to your right, who tapped his index finger against the steering wheel while stealing the occasional glance. He looked like he was debating saying something.
"So..." He begins, almost like a father starting a conversation with a child he doesn't quite get. "Did you finish Ulysses yet?"
"Did..." You do a double take, studying Matteo for a long second. "...Did Luca give you conversation starters?"
"What if I made them up?" He blurts out.
"We've spoken twice, Matteo." You raise an eyebrow at him, arms crossed. "I never told you what I read."
"Maybe I just guessed what girls like nowadays." He smirked at you, feeling triumphant.
"I'm sorry, but you're the least qualified person to talk about girls." You say with a chuckle.
"Touche." He smiled, then looked back at the road, letting the silence sit only for a few seconds. "But you're right, we've only spoken twice."
"So?" You raised a brow.
"Sooo." Matteo draws out. "We have about an hour to catch up."
You're genuinely confused as to why Matteo was being so personal all of a sudden. Usually, as in, in the last few weeks or so, you've had two separate, short conversations with the man. Once, when you accidentally came into his room instead of Luca's during one of your 'visits'. The other time, when both of you had quite a boring and awkward conversation about English meals in a lift. "On what grounds should we 'catch up'?"
"On the grounds that you're fucking my cousin Miss Shelby." The way Matteo said that was surprisingly casual. "And family is important to me."
"It's not like I'm married to him." You reply faster than you'd want to.
"He damn well acts like you are." He chuckles, and you feel yourself stiffen, looking at the Italian like he just told you the earth is flat. "What? Why are you looking at me like that?"
"What do you mean by 'acts like I am'?" The question leaves your lips in an uncertain tone, almost shy.
"Never seen him so distracted by someone he's known for such a short time." He says with a shrug "Foolish if you ask me, but who am I to judge, at least he's happy."
He's happy??
"Uh, yeah." He throws you a pitiful smile, as if he could see how perplexed this information made you. "At least from what I can see."
Oh, of course, you said that out loud.
You quieted down, gaze resting on your lap. Now this was new information you had no idea how to process. You bit your lower lip in thought, unsure if the emotions you're feeling right now are uncertainty or... giddy, immature happiness.
You sit like that for a good few minutes before a small, sly smile graces your lips.
"Cousin, huh?" You ask, looking out the window, your good humour slowly creeping back in.
"I'm not telling you his secrets," Matteo says almost immediately as if he somehow knew that you were going to ask that.
"And I'm not asking you." You clarify. "But you probably have some nice stories."
"About what?"
"You knooooow..." You draw out, cocking your head to the side. "What was he like, back in the day?"
"Same as now, I guess. Only longer ago." It seemed like that was the end of your prying on Luca, but after a longer moment, Matteo mused more to himself than anyone else in the car. "More chipper in New York though..."
"Chipper? I'd like to see that."
"Oh yeah, and stupid."
"Now we're talking, tell me more." You lean forward in your seat, elbows resting on your thighs.
"No, I already told too much," Matteo says like he's telling his friends he's had enough drinks for the night. "He's going to skin me alive if he finds out I told you about this."
"Oh come oooooon. I won't tell." You shuffle your feet excitedly. Matteo looked forward, focusing on the road ahead, but after a moment of looking between the steering wheel and you, he let out a defeated sigh.
"...Back in New York, when we were just goons for Spinietta, Luca came up with a new con to scam people with, a really fucking stupid one..."
.
.
.
"And then, THEN it turned out the other guy was from London, and when he heard Luca speaking in a shitty Birmingham accent he-" He paused, but only to wheeze in laughter. "He beat the fucking shit out of him." Matteo finishes the story, on the verge of tears.
"No!" You gasped, though not hiding your laughter as well, leaning forward in your seat.
"Yes!" Matteo wipes a stray tear from the corner of his eye, still trying to calm down his laughter. "Never seen Luca on his ass faster in my life, ti giuro. "
"Oh god. And I'm supposed to NOT tease him about it?" You say in amused disbelief. "When he's all 'Look at me, I'm mister smug and aloof, I've never gotten beaten up like a bitch before'." You put on your best impression of the Italian, even going to the lengths of putting a match between your lips and exaggerating your words with excessive hand gestures.
"Hey, we're all hiding behind something principessa." Despite Matteo defending his cousin, he still couldn't help but laugh along with you. After a moment, both of you calmed down, this time falling into a pleasant, comfortable silence before you spoke up again.
"What about you?" You turned to Matteo again.
"What do you mean?"
"You said you want to catch up." You lean against the leather seat, bringing your knees to your chin. "We've got an hour, you ever played two truths and a lie?"
It was a nice ride.
Tumblr media
Everyone and their mother thinks the Small Heath home is haunted. Random objects flying off the wall at night, specific items appearing in places they weren't before, the occasional crooked painting.
Footsteps are definitely new.
The boys and Polly are dealing with business outside of town for once, while Ada just went out and should be here any minute. But that definitely isn't Ada.
Slow, almost wary footsteps cause the floorboards to creak on the ground floor. You're sitting next to the stairs, knees tucked to your chest and spare pistol in your hand.
Another step.
You press your ear to the floor, trying your hardest to pinpoint how many people were inside just by footsteps... Just one?
They appear to be coming closer, and you internally brace for confrontation with whoever broke into your home. As the intruder passes the corner you were hiding in, you stick out the gun and press it to the side of their head, making them immediately freeze in place.
Wait-
"Luca????" You blurt out in shock, your voice becoming at least a few octaves higher.
"Hey, you actually kept it," Luca says, sizing up the gun he gave you that's now pressed to his head. "Though I'd rather not die by it sweetheart, no offense."
"FUCKING hell Luca! You scared me half to death!” Your arms drop next to your hips. putting the gun on a table nearby.
“Relax, who would it be if not me?” Luca moves towards you, probably to say his hellos in the form of peppered kisses.
"Who would it be? What do you MEAN who would it be?!" You rub your eyes, not sure if out of frustration or as a way of trying to wake yourself up. “Police? IRA? My own bloody brothers?!” Somehow, this is exactly what you wanted. Luca being the one that sneaks through Small Heath and avoids the blinders, instead of it being always you. Though now, instead of it being a late-night fantasy of the charming man sneaking into your bed despite the dangers of doing so, it's a real-life nightmare of this idiot trying to get himself killed.
“Yeah well, it’s not them.” He shrugs, glancing around the house. “I’d like to see anyone try to stab you in the back in this house. I figure before I’ll get to them you’ll just kill them yourself.”
“Yes, I am quite amazing.” You muse to yourself before snapping back into reality. “Don’t think you can butter me up and I’ll drop it, what are you doing here?!"
“I’m seeing my doll.”
“Need I remind you you’re inside my idiot brothers’ territory?”
"Relax, we'll manage."
You two did not manage.
Who knew Luca Changretta had a talent for knocking down hanged pictures and stepping on the creakiest parts of the wooden floor.
“Shush for once in your life.” You hissed at Luca as you led him through the tight corridor, internally begging whatever made-up deity may be watching over you to please not let Arthur or Polly magically appear out of the corner.
“Please, it’s not like-” You can practically hear Luca roll his eyes, and despite you usually letting him release whatever condescending thoughts he had on the daily, you think you just heard a door open in the distance. You practically drag him the remaining meter to your room's door and push him inside, shutting it way too loudly.
As it turns out, the deity listened to you, but only to half of your half-assed prayer.
“Ada! Heyy!” You try to stay nonchalant as you lean against the door.
“...Hey?” Ada's pace slows down next to you, “What’s got you so pent up?”
“Pent up? Pshh.” You're really not good at this. “Well, I guess I’m just tired, I better get to bed.” Your thumb points back towards the door of your bedroom.
Ada stays put, looking at you puzzled and suspicious.
“Are you going?" She asks.
“Yes.” You blurt out. ”What about you?”
“Y/N, cut the crap. I heard something.” She looks at you for answers, but only when she looks at the door again it's almost as if a light turns on in her head. “Are you…Sneaking someone in?” She reached for the doorknob only to be stopped by you slapping it away.
“Ada no!” You shield the door with your whole body.
“Ow! Hey, come on, I’m not judging. God knows you deserve some fun once in a while.” She rubs her hand. “So who is he?” Your sister looks between you and the door excitedly, her voice now hushed, like all these years ago when the two of you spent hours under the covers giggling about the stupidest of things.
“Uhh, just-” You stammered, struggling to find the right words. or any words for that matter. “You don’t know him.”
“I trust he’s not afraid of Tommy since he followed you here.” She threw a wink your way. “Reminds me of Freddie and I back in the day.” A fond smile graces her face as she looks to the side.
“Oh he’s not, that’s for sure.” You laugh nervously, internally waiting for the sweet release of death. Ada seemed to notice.
“All right, I’ll get out of your hair.” She laughs at her sister, squeezing your cheek as she walks past you. “Don’t get her knocked up Romeo, then maybe I won't have to tell Tommy!” She calls, walking off down the corridor. Only after Ada completely vanished from your periphery you opened the bedroom door just a few inches and slid in. The door locked, checked three times, and you finally released a big sigh, hands sliding off the door to rest next to your hips.
You turn around to see a very out-of-place Luca. Almost everything about him clashed with your small childhood room, the humble interior looking somehow even cheaper next to him. After the company took off, the family never bothered to fancy up the place, instead, everyone went their separate ways into apartments and stylish homes. Yet somehow for you, no king-sized plush bed will ever replace the old, creaking twin you have right here in Small Heath, always ready for you with open arms.
Luca took his sweet time taking in the place. Picking up and then putting down every insignificant object, from small toys you never bothered to throw out or sell, to numerous books lying around the room. He spends the most time looking at an old, framed picture sitting atop your windowsill. Luca's thumb brushes off a heavy layer of dust from 10-year-old Y/N in her year 5 uniform, while the actual Y/N takes her place beside him, leaning her head on his shoulder.
"Adorable." Luca nudges you, a sly smile on his lips as he puts his other arm around your shoulders.
"Oh hush, I'm sure I can find a picture of little Luca if I sneak into your home." You stab a finger into his arm playfully, smiling fondly at the picture.
"Wishful thinking, doll. Wishful thinking..." Luca sets down the frame and focuses his attention on you. A kiss on your temple leads to his lips softly trailing down to your nose and meeting your lips. Now the stress of the whole damn ordeal seemed to start slipping away, and the sweet taste is there once again.
The sound of a door crashing on the far end of the hallway takes both of you out of your trance.
“So, that…was Ada.” You turn your head to try and hear any sounds of your sister leaving her room, but Luca doesn't seem to pay it any mind.
“She seems nice.” He hummed against your skin, his lips trailing down to your collarbone, biting down gently.
“What are you doing Romeo?” You turn your head slightly to squint your eyes at him, a distrusting smile gracing your lips.
“Breaking my promise to your sister.” His sly drawl is muffled against your skin as both of you step by step head towards the bed.
“Did you want to come here only to sleep with me under Tommy’s nose?” You sit down on the bed, your brows furrowing.
“I always come firstly to you and because of you,” Luca emphasizes every word as he slowly gets on his knees, never taking his eyes off you. “But yeah, being here does come with its satisfaction. If only they’d see you now, cara.” His hands push up your dress, finding their way to your thighs, fingers getting busy with the garters holding up your stockings.
“Yeah, maybe cut it with the Italian. My sister could be listening in.” Luca only seems to respond in a musing hum. “You never know.”
“Should I put on my best Birmingham accent?” He looks up at you, his signature smartass grin more endearing than annoying.
“Not now. You’ll ruin the mood.” You murmur just mere inches from his lips, laying back into the old, creaky bed, Luca following put. “But definitely save it for later, I need to hear that."

Y/N woke up sore with puffy eyes. Her reflection wasn't ever a pretty girl anymore. It was a girl who was abused, hurt, and drained. She gently cleaned the three new marks on her face. Her skin slashed open from her dad. She felt tears falling down her face as she was reminded of last night. Him waiting for her to finish work, threatening to take away Dustin from her. She'd never let that happen. She refused to let her dad ever see Dustin. She'd take the abuse, but she will never let Dustin be the target.
"are you sure you're okay?" Dustin asked from behind her. Sadness in his eyes as he watched his sister place band aid patches on her cheek.
"yes, don't worry about me dusty" she said, she gave the best smile she could. The bandage stopped her from making a real one.
Dustin knew not to try to fight with her. Nodding as he kissed her hurt cheek, heading to get ready for school.
She felt everyone staring at her cheek and she hated it. Luckily everyone in this school was an asshole. None caring to ask if she was okay or what happened. That included her cheerleading team. A group of girls she was with constantly but didn't have a real single friend on it.
She didn't want to deal with them so she headed to where she knows Dustin's table is. Seeing only Mike was seated, she took the spot across from him.
"hey Y/N, you okay?" Mike asked gently. Being closest to Dustin, he knew all about Y/N's relationship with her father.
"not today Mike" she said as gently as she could. Opening her lunch box, dividing her sandwich in half and digging out Dustin's half of the brownie.
She ate silently as the table filled up. Dustin still wasn't arriving yet, so she left his parts of lunch near her lunchbox.
"and who the fuck are you?"
She looked up to see a taller and much older boy, compared to the rest of the table. He had long hair and deep brown eyes. She's definitely seen him with Dustin, but couldn't recall his name
Before she could even answer, he spoke again.
"I don't know what game your little cheerleader ass is playing. But we don't allow stuck up assholes to sit at our table" he barked out, very harshly.
So harsh that she felt like her dad was standing across from her.
"Eddie stop" Mike said harshly as he could see Y/N's eyes watering.
"Mike shut up. I'm handling this" Eddie, apparently, said.
His brown eyes, glaring daggers at her softening slightly when he noticed her bandaged cheek but moved on. Figuring it was some cheerleading accident. She sat quietly letting him continue his rant.
Letting him call her every name in the book. A bitch, a princess, stuck up, rich, and shit she's never heard of.
She sat there and silently cried. Head down as she tried to take deep breaths. Reminding herself this was a random boy, it wasn't her dad and he wasn't going to hurt her.
She panicked when she felt a hand grab her shoulder. Flinching as she flew out of her seat.
Eddie quickly withdrew his hand as she practically sprung out of the seat. His eyes softened once again when he saw tears working down her face.
"Y/N, what's wrong?" Dustin quickly dropped his tray on the table and walked closer to her.
She shook her head and wiped her tears.
"nothing dusty. See you at home" she said quickly, handing him the sandwich and brownie. Racing as fast as she could out of that cafeteria.
~~
"dusty?home? Who is that?" Eddie asked
"that's my sister. What the fuck did you do?" Dustin snapped, Lucas walked up confused at all the tension.
"what's going on?" He asked
"Eddie just totally freaks out on Y/N for no goddamn reason" Mike scoffed. Standing up as he grabbed his backpack.
"really Eddie. What did she do to you?" Lucas added in
"what you say to her?" Dustin said filled with anger. He didn't take that Eddie could easily kick his ass. He can't protect his sister from their dad, but he can protect her from Eddie.
"I didn't know she was your sister! I saw a cheerleader sitting here and I just got pissed" Eddie tried to explain. But seeing all three boys staring at him with the most pissed off look he's ever seen, he had a good feeling he fucked up.
"so you lashed out on her totally unprovoked? I mean did she even say anything to you?" Dustin argue.
"well no...she just kinda sat there and before I knew it she was crying. I didn't think she'd be so upset. Usually the jocks are cold-hearted assholes." Eddie tried to defend his stance
"SHE'S NOT LIKE THEM!" Dustin screamed.
"she only joined that stupid team to get a scholarship so she can leave this hellhole of what she's forced to call home. Fuck you Eddie" Dustin snapped as he grabbed his backpack. Marching straight to the parking lot.
"dude you know nothing about her. If you did, you'd feel like the biggest ass right now" Mike sighed, following behind Dustin.
"well I already feel like an ass" Eddie sighed
"that's a shame. She was excited that Dustin found a new friend. After this, I don't think he's going to ever want to see you again" Lucas added, following behind Mike.
Eddie decided to follow the group. At least he could apologize for being an asshole. He found all of them standing in a circle against her car.
Eddie gave them their space but waited to talk to her. With being so close he could easily hear their conversation.
~~
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt your guys' lunch. Go eat, I'm fine" Y/N said as she wiped her face. Carefully not to touch her bandage.
"you didn't. Let's take deep breaths and talk a little bit. I know you don't want to talk about last night but may-"
"Dustin! I told you last night never happened and we don't speak about it." She snapped
"you can't let dad abuse you like this" Dustin said softly as he touched his sister's cheek.
Mike held her hand softly and Lucas rubbed her back.
~~
Eddie felt a very bad feeling in his gut.
He's been abused, he knows what it felt like. He didn't ever think twice about a girl being on the cheerleading team would struggle with the same shit he has. Eddie wanted to be better than the jocks but he proved he was just like them. Judging someone based on how others perceived them.
"I don't know what happened. But the way he was calling me names made me think of dad. And I shut down. But then he touched me and my brain was screaming at me to prepare for another blow."
Eddie could feel his own tears in the back of his eyes.
Eddie can't believe he allowed himself to be something he hated.
He was abused, he should have noticed the signs. He should have stopped talking the second she got quiet and didn't say a word.
If it was a joke, like he thought. She wouldn't have sat there and taken every word.
He was an idiot.
He took a deep breath and wiped his eyes. Putting his hands in his jeans as he walked towards the group. All seated in the car, except for Dustin.
"hey Dustin can I talk to her?" Eddie asked softly.
He watched as her eyes snapped to him through the windshield. He wanted to offer her a small smile but his heart shattered at the fear that rested as she quickly looked away
"hell to the fucking no. Leave her and us alone. We won't be at hellfire tonight" Dustin snapped as he slammed the car door.
Eddie watched as she drove out of the parking lot.
~~
Dustin stook to his word. Not a single one of them showed up to hellfire. And Eddie wasn't even upset he had to cancel the campaign. He was more upset with the fact he put himself in a position that he wasn't sure he could get out of.
~~
A few days past and the three little sheep, and Dustin's sister hasn't looked in his direction. They all sat at a table in the back corner, smiling and laughing.
Eddie noticed her cheek was no longer banged. Small marks left in her cheek but she smiled like she wasn't bothered.
Eddie thought she was gorgeous. He thought she was gorgeous when he first saw her at the table but watching as she laughed so hard, she had to clench her stomach. He realized how beautiful she really was.
She didn't deserve what he said to her and she deserved a real apology.
~~
Y/N was searching through her car when she heard someone knock on her window. She jumped and quickly looked to see Eddie standing there.
She rolled down her window
"can I talk to you?" Eddie asked as he peaked his head in
"um I guess" she said quietly.
Eddie hated how closed off her body was. She didn't feel safe near him and he gave a good reason for that.
"I wanted to say I'm really fucking sorry. I was completely wrong. I should have never spoken to you like that. I should have never put a hand on you. You didn't deserve any of that"
She nodded with a small smile. Showing that she appreciated his words.
"I also overheard you talking to Dustin about your dad"
Her body stiffened quickly and Eddie noticed
"it's okay. I actually have been there before" he said softly, pulling out a piece of paper.
"I used to call this number every time my dad got done hitting me. No matter the time, they will pick up. And I added my number at the bottom. In case you need someone who can slightly understand." Eddie smiled as soft as he could.
"thanks Eddie" she said tearfully. Putting the piece of paper in her backpack
~~
She calls Eddie every night, and he always picks up. He listens and listens. He never hangs up first or says he has to go. He devoted all his time into her calls. Speaking of things he buried down to forget. But allowing himself to open it back up for her.
The more she called, the less it was about her dad. She just loved hearing his voice. It made her feel giddy and excited. She was terrified the first time she called without wanting to talk about her dad. Afraid he'd hang up because that wasn't the reason he gave his number out.
"hey Eddie. I'm actually doing good tonight but I still wanted to talk to you. Maybe about happy things? I know it's stupid and that's not why you gave me your number but i-"
"shh it's okay. I gave you my number because I wanted to. And I'll gladly sit here and listen to you talk about anything you want gorgeous. Hit me with it"
After that call, she screamed into her pillow and kicked her feet. Dustin teased her for it for weeks. Making kissy faces at the lunch table when Eddie looked away.
"OW!" Dustin screamed as she kicked his leg under the table.
Eddie turned to the noise, "you good Henderson?" He asked as he looked at Dustin concerned
"totally" Dustin huffed out as he rubbed his leg.
Then she wanted more. She wanted more than phone calls
"random question but would you maybe want to go eat sometime? Talk in person instead?" Her body was shaking with anxiety. Preparing for a no
"only agreeing if this means I get to finally take you on a date"
And after that, there were many more dates planned.

"One more minute, and I leave." You thought to yourself, looking at the watch. You promised your mom you'd pick up Dustin from the Hellfire Club meeting, but you were so done waiting for him and his friends. "He owes me this time." Your leg's been stomping every second in impatience.
You glanced at the minute hand, ready to leave just when the club's door opened rapidly. The group of people flooded the school corridor with your little brother ahead, too excited to even notice you.
"Ekhem." You grunted loudly. "Dustin!"
"Hi, Y/N!" Dustin, Mike, and Lucas greeted you at once. Oh boy, they were so coordinated.
"Do you realize how long I've been standing here? It was supposed to end half an hour ago!"
"We had to finish the campaign, and it was so-"
"I don't care. We're running out of time." You interrupted him. "I promised to give you three a ride home, so let's go."
"Why so eagerly? Late for the date with Andy?" Dustin wiggled his eyebrows with a significant smile.
"No, I'm tired. That's all." You sighed. "And don't even mention this douche, ew."
As you sprang from the wall and turned to leave, you heard another voice, much more mature yet with a hint of silliness.
"Yo, Dustin. Didn't know you had a nanny."
You probably wouldn't react but being called nanny for the first time in your life made you feel like ripping out your guts. However, you didn't even have time to open your mouth. Your brother jumped into the conversation as his pride was visibly hurt. "She's actually my sister."
"Oh, that's a surprise, Henderson." The man with dark, soft-looking curls stepped into your tracks, making you stop.
"I. Just. Want. To. Go. Home." You repeated in your head like a mantra over and over again. "And why is that?" You asked, looking into his eyes. Oh, they were mesmerizing. You were drowning in their pitch dark abyss for a while, and you didn't want to scream or ask for help. No, quite the opposite. You let yourself sink.
"Well, I didn't think he has a sister and, on top of that, such a beautiful one." There was a bit of mischief behind his smile.
"Smooth talker, are you, Eddie Munson?" You could feel your brother's stare grinding into your head as he probably thought, "what the hell is happening?".
"Lovely lady knows my name?"
"Oh, how could I not? Although, I must say I'm a little disappointed. Everyone thinks you're a pure devil, but I don't see any horns. Such a shame." A playful smile appeared on your face.
"If you're interested, I can show you them someday."
"Woah, Woah, Woah!" Dustin stepped in between you two. "You. Him. Gross. Stay away from my sister. Now goodbye." Your little brother grabbed your hand and dragged you to the exit, with Mike and Lucas following you and laughing in the background.
"Can I at least know your name?" Eddie shouted after you.
Before your brother pushed you through the doorstep, you yelled, "Y/N!". You couldn't see Munson anymore, but he was thankful for that. The smile that appeared on his face was never so big, and he wouldn't want you to see this side of him. Not yet, at least.

And here we are part 3 of ‘Mine’! I may or may not due a part 4, it totally depends. I was originally going to go with Luca but changed it to Nico. I was actually going to be named Nico if I was a boy and was happy to find out it’s an Italian name. Anyway, not edited in the slightest and I hope you like it!
On another note: my wifi came back and I’ll be able to add this and the one I posted last night to the masterlist. Keep sending prompts for Melissa and Chessy, and I haven’t received any for Marilyn Thornhill yet. I do have an idea for Marilyn but it’s more of a series.
Italian translations:
Non ho voglia di mangiare cibo Italiano, per l’amor del cielo - Not in the mood for any Italian food, for fuck sake
Ti amo - I love you
Mine - Part 3
Warnings: sweet and soft Mel, swearing (in both English and Italian)
Words: 3.2k
Tumblr media
You and Melissa both stare at the doctor at your ultrasound appointment, you’re 10 weeks pregnant at this point.
“I’m pregnant with what?” You say after a few seconds.
“Twins. You’re pregnant with twins.” She tells you and points to the ultrasound picture. “See there’s one and…there’s the other.” She points out and you both see it.
“There’s 2 little Tesoro’s in there?” Melissa says and the doctor looks at you.
“She’s asking if there’s really 2 babies in me.” You tell her.
“Yes, there’s 2 of them in there.” The doctor says.
You both walk out of the room and Melissa engulfs you in a hug. “Woah!” You say, surprised. She pulls back and has the biggest smile on her you’ve ever seen.
“Omg Amore! We’re gonna have twins!” She exclaims and kneels down and hugs your stomach. You see a couple look at you guys and they’re smiling at Melissa’s excitement.
“She’s really excited.” You tell them.
“Ya, that’s really obvious. Congratulations with the twins.” The woman says.
“Thank you.” You tell them and Melissa stands up.
“Omg I can’t wait to tell everyone!” Melissa says and bounces.
“Ok before we do anything, we have to pick Amelia up from daycare as it’s 4:15 and they close at 5.” You tell her and she grins.
“Omg Amelia, how are we gonna tell her she’s gonna be a big sister?” Melissa says and you laugh.
“Mel, honey, she’s 20 months old. I don’t think she’ll understand yet. She’s more focused on walking and getting into everything around the house right now.” You tell her and Melissa smiles. “Come on, let’s go pick the little terror up.” You tell her and Melissa practically skips out of the clinic
You get home after picking Amelia up and Melissa is still basically on cloud 9. You FaceTime Barb and she picks up on the second ring.
“Hey y/n! How are you sweetheart?” Barb says
“I’m good but Melissa is a little too excited since-“ you get cut off from the redhead herself.
“OMG BARB WE’RE GONNA HAVE TWINS!” She shouts and you have to pull back as it was right in your ear.
“Honey, no need to shout in my ear.” You tell her and she apologises then hugs your stomach again.
“Omg twins! Congrats you two!” Barb says and Gerald heard.
“Congratulations you two! We should celebrate this weekend.” He tells everyone and you all agree. Barb and Melissa talk for a little bit while you feed Amelia some dinner. Melissa has taken a particular interest in feeding Amelia as she has enough teeth now to have spaghetti. Although the first time she fed it to Amelia, she called it ‘the Italian test’, and Amelia loved it and Mel said she passed.
The next day, Melissa pretty much skips in the break room and she spins you around slowly. Everyone looks at you and smiles.
“What’s gotten you so happy?” Janine questions and Melissa looks at you, asking to share the news and you nod.
“We’re having twins!” She exclaims and everyone’s jaw drops. They all come up to you both and give you hugs with a congratulations. You then feel sick and run out to the bathroom, Melissa runs after you. You make it to the bathroom just in time for you to throw up and Melissa holds your hair up.
After a couple minutes you exit the stale and go to wash your hands. “This is the part of the pregnancy I don’t miss.” You tell her and she giggles.
“Well since you have two little critics in you, I packed an extra breakfast for you since you’re eating for 3 now.” She tells you and you perk up at the mention of more food.
Once you get to the break room she takes out the frittata she made you that you loved during your pregnancy with Amelia and hands it to you. You pretty much inhale it and Melissa is looking at you with heart eyes the entire time. Everyone sees it and they smile. Melissa’s tough bravado is only down for you and they love to see those little snippets of ‘Soft Mel’ they like to call it. To which Melissa rolled her eyes and glared at them when she found out.
“U know I still like the name Caterina.” You tell her and she smiles at you.
“Ya?”
“Ya, I think it’s a beautiful name.” You say and she kisses your cheek.
The both of you end up telling Amelia that you have 2 babies in your tummy after school. While Melissa was cooking dinner you put Amelia to sit on the kitchen counter in the middle and told her.
“Amelia, you’re going to be a big sister! I have two little babies in here.” You told her and put your hand on your stomach. And as you expected, she didn’t understand. “Told you.” You said to Melissa and she just smiled and went back to cooking.
Melissa keeps giving you more food than usual since you got little ones in you who also need to eat. And because of your morning sickness, she always packs an extra breakfast for you to keep your strength up. She always does little things for you and you appreciate it every time.
Your morning sickness does stop when you were about 4 months pregnant and she still keeps bringing you an extra breakfast in case you were hungry. Then the cravings start and Melissa throws a fit when you told her that you’re not in the mood for any Italian food. She starts swearing and ranting in Italian.
“Non ho voglia di mangiare cibo Italiano, per l’amor del cielo!” She rants while pacing around the living room. “What are you in the mood for then?” She says and crosses her arms. You think about it.
“Pea soup.” You state proudly with a nod and Melissa rolls her eyes.
“If I didn’t love you so much then I would just give you the store bought one.” She says and goes in the kitchen to make the soup.
“Ti amo!” You tell her as she walks in the kitchen.
“Ya ya.” She says with a smile.
You pick Amelia up then put her in her high chair to feed her dinner.
At dinner time, while you nearly inhale the soup, Melissa has a conversation with you that’s needed.
“We should move.” She starts and you look at her.
“What?” You say confused.
“We should move before the twins are born.” She tells you and you look at her confused. “This house only has 3 rooms, not 4.” She states and you finally understand what she’s telling you.
“Mel, we don’t have to do it before their born. We have like 3 years before they’ll start needing their own rooms. Or if they’re two boys or two girls then they can share. Or if one of each then the girl can share with Amelia.” You tell her.
“Face it y/n, our little household is growing and we need more room.”
“Are you ready for that? I know you love this place.” You tell her.
“I am. This place served its purpose and you’re right I do love it and I won’t forget it.” She tells you with a smile.
“Ok, if you’re certain then we can start looking and move when we find the perfect one.” You tell her and she nods.
A month later you have an ultrasound appointment.
“I want to know the genders of the babies.” Melissa tells you. “Do you want to know?” She asks.
“I do actually.” You say and she smiles.
At your appointment, the doctor squirts the gel on and brings up the video of the babies.
“Alright there they are.” The doctor says and she then looks at both of you. “Want to know the genders?” And you both nod. She looks for about a minute before she speaks. “Alright looks like one is a little camera shy but I found the genders. Looks like one’s a girl and the other a boy.” She states and Melissa lets a few tears slip and smiles.
“I’m gonna have another daughter and a son.” She says happily.
“That boy is gonna feel so out numbered.” You say and she laughs.
“There’s some boy cousins he can hang out with.” She tells you and tucks a strand of hair behind your ear.
When you get home, you hang the ultrasound picture on the fridge next to a picture of Amelia.
“So since we have a couple hours, why don’t we go upstairs and have a little us time?” Melissa says with a wiggle of her eyebrows and you laugh. It’s been about 3 weeks since you two had sex. While your sex drive skyrocketed with Amelia, it seems this time around it did the opposite. This time it’s Melissa who’s been using the vibrator when needed.
“Ya, I’d love too.” You tell her and she grabs your hand and pulls you to the bedroom.
*a week later*
“What do you think of this place?” Melissa says and shows you a house listing. You look at the pictures of the house.
“You like the kitchen don’t you?” You say and she giggles.
“I’ll admit that it is one of the attractions. But it’s got 4 rooms, a basement and a big open floor dining and living room.” She tells you.
“Ya it’s nice. We should check it out this weekend.” You tell her and hand her phone back.
“Great! I’ll message them now.” She tells you.
You two have been able to put money aside since you were living together in a place that Melissa was able to afford by herself. And since you’re selling the house when you move, then you’ll have enough to buy a bigger place. You’ve so far seen 5 places and none were speaking to you two. And because of that, when you went to see this new place, it surprised you that you both liked it. You found the place that you’ll call your new home, a place for you, Melissa, Amelia and the twins.
“Melissa!” You call out to her from the living room and she comes to you from upstairs.
“What?”
“I can’t pick up the box.” You tell her with a pout and she laughs.
“Where do you want it?” She says and stands in front of the box.
“On top of that box.” You tell her and point. She picks it up and brings it over to where you want. You’re 6 months pregnant at this point and you’re moving in 3 weeks. You’ve recruited the Abbott crew, and a few family members from both your families to come and help you on the day you move.
“The babies are kicking again.” You say with a hand on your belly and Melissa is immediately by your side and you put her hand where they’re kicking. She already felt them kick but she always loves to feel it when she can.
And just like last time, Melissa is extremely protective when it comes to other people wanting to touch your belly. And you get déjà vu when she pushed Janine’s hand off your belly and says “mine” while hugging you and kisses your forehead.
“Melissa, you should let Janine feel it at least once.” You tell her and she huffs.
“Fine. But just this once.” She says and Janine finally feels your stomach and one of the babies kick and she gasps. Melissa is glaring the entire time.
Amelia sees your belly grow and is a little confused as to why. She’s turning 2 in 4 weeks, but she’s still a little young to understand.
Melissa has been doing some of the same things she did for you as last time. Which is helping you up the stairs, putting a shower seat in the tub for you to shower with, guiding and holding you through a crowded hallway, and catering to your every craving (whether or not she approves of it).
It’s finally the day to move and you dropped Amelia off at your parents place for them to watch her.
“Don’t spoil her too much.” You tell them.
“You know we can’t promise that.” Your mom tells you and you giggle while you go back to the house to help pack up the loading truck. Turns out you do almost nothing, per Melissa’s instructions, and you end up telling people what to do instead. 3 hours later and the truck is packed up and house is cleaned for the new people that bought the place.
You and Melissa stand in the empty living room and look around one last time. Melissa hugs you from behind and puts her head on your shoulder.
“You ready?” She asks and you sigh.
“I think so.” You say. “Did you say a final goodbye to the kitchen yet?” You ask her, half joking half serious.
“Yep. It’s time to start a new chapter.” She tells you and kisses your head. You lean into her touch for a few seconds before you both decide to leave to the new place with everyone.
You get there and like before, Melissa instructs you to just tell people where to put what where. “I’m pregnant, not physically disabled.” You tell her annoyed and she glares at you before you cave and instruct people.
A few hours later and the kitchen and bathrooms are unpacked and a few things you’ll need until you can unpack more boxes. You unpack most of Amelia’s room and decorate it how she likes it. You get help to unpack the nursery which will be one of their rooms in a couple years.
2 weeks after and you’re celebrating Amelia’s second birthday. Most of the cake surprisingly ends up in her mouth instead of on her face. She gets a bunch of new toys and starts playing with all of them immediately.
You go on maternity leave when you’re 33 weeks pregnant and you end up using the days to unpack boxes and you end up finishing in 2 weeks.
“Momma.” Amelia says and Melissa turns to her.
“What’s up my little Tesoro?”
“Mommy tod mwe to come get you. Saying wabour.” Amelia tells her and Melissa immediately picks Amelia up and rushes to you.
“Are you in Labour?” She asks you from where you were on the couch and you’re holding your stomach and squeezing the arm of the couch.
“Ya, I thought it wasn’t the real thing at first, then my water broke.” You tell her and Melissa rushes to get your bag and her and Amelia’s bag to bring to the hospital for when the day arrives. She ushers you in the car and puts Amelia in her car seat and brings you to the hospital while you call Melissa’s sister, yours and Melissa’s parents, as well as the Abbott crew.
“I can’t believe you’re in labour, you’re only 35 weeks.” Melissa exclaims during the drive.
“They told us that most of the time with twins, they’re born early. Besides, I gave birth to Amelia when I was 37 weeks.” You say and a contraction hits and Melissa holds her hand out for you to squeeze.
You arrive at the hospital and Melissa gets Amelia out and helps you walk out and into the hospital. Melissa’s parents were there and they took Amelia while you and Melissa gets ushered into a room and prepped for labour. Barb arrives a few minutes after and this time your mom is able to be here as she worked last time and couldn’t get out of it. You sit on the table, as it’s easier to push that way instead of laying down, and you squeeze Melissa’s hand when a contraction hits.
“For fuck sakes.” You grit through your teeth and Melissa prepares to get yelled and cursed at again, all in the name of love she thinks.
Melissa starts humming a tune she knows soothes you when a nasty one hits and you lean into her.
“Ok, are you ready to push? You’re fully dilated.” The doctor tells you, an hour after you arrive.
“Don’t think I have much of a choice.” You say and Melissa laughs.
You start pushing and Melissa is saying praises to you the entire time.
“Oh shut up Melissa! Why don’t you try pushing!” You yell and she just ignores you and keeps doing the same thing. You have a death grip on her left hand and she has the other one rubbing your back.
“Ok, you’re doing great, push again.” The doctor says and you do. “I see a head.” She says.
“Mom! It hurts!” You complain while your mom is on the other side of you, holding her hand.
“I know honey, but you’re doing great and you’ll have 2 little trouble makers after this.” She tells you and you chuckle.
You push again and your second child is born. “It’s a boy!” The doctor says and Melissa cuts the cord. She hands the baby to a nurse and gets ready to help with the second one. “Ready for the other one?” She asks you and you groan.
“For fuck sakes!” You say and Melissa continues rubbing your back and she kisses your forehead.
“I know it’s a lot of work baby but look at what we get when it’s over.” Melissa tells you and points at where your son is.
You start pushing again and you end up cursing at Melissa to which she encourages you to keep doing it every time.
“Very good Amore! Don’t worry I still love you. Keep yelling at me.” She tells you.
And 6 minutes later your second daughter is born and Melissa cuts the cord again. The nurses give you both at the same time to do skin to skin contact for a few minutes until you hand your son over to Melissa to hold and you move your daughter to hold her in your arms. Your mom takes a picture of both of you with the twins.
“What names are you thinking of?” You ask Melissa.
“I’m happy with Caterina if you are.” She tells you and you smile and nod.
“Caterina Lisa Schemmenti.” You say and look at your newborn daughter.
“What do you think of Nico Schemmenti for this little guy?” She asks you and you nod.
“I love it.” You tell her.
Amelia comes running into the room a few minutes later and gets held up by Kristen Marie to get a good look at her siblings.
“They tiny.” She says and you laugh.
“You were this tiny too, little one.” You tell her and she looks at you shocked. Barb takes a picture of you and Melissa holding a twin each while Amelia is sitting between you both on the bed.
Melissa looks around the room and sees her parents and sister there, your parents are there too, Barb as well, and knowing the rest of the Abbott crew is outside the room. Then she looks at you holding Caterina with Amelia looking at her new sister, while Nico is sleeping in her arms and Melissa thinks she can’t be happier.

Journaling Billy is so personal for me.
Billy with a gratitude journal that he writes in every time something good happens, or someone does something nice for him.
He got the journal from a nurse at the hospital post-starcourt, who thought it would be a nice way for him to pass the time, while also lifting his spirits and helping him realize how much love and kindness is around him, even if he doubts it.
It's just a blue, soft cover bound book, but he humors the nurse because she's got warm, pretty eyes and reminds him of his mom.
He uses it often, even after leaving the hospital.
Steve catches him writing in his journal one day, and Billy tells him it's fine if he reads the gratitude journal but not his diary.
Steve, of course, is dying to see what's in the journal, what Billy considers nice, and what good things have been happening to the love of his life.
Aug 1, 1985 Everyone came to see me. Even those kids Harrington always babysits. That's nice, right?
Aug 5 Harrington brought me some food from some burger joint. It was good. I guess he's nice even though I was kind of a dick to him.
Aug 21 Harrington showed up to drive me home. I don't know why he's being so nice to me. It pisses me off because I think he just feels sorry for me. I'm probably using this journal the wrong way but I don't care. I can't talk to anybody about this. I'm not feeling that grateful for shit today.
Aug 25 Max helped me with my pain medication. I thought she hated me. She acts like everything's fine. I have to admit I’m grateful what happened only stays in my nightmares and I wake up to a different reality.
Aug 29 Harrington called to check on me. Offered to come over and play cards. He doesn't have to keep pretending. I like the company, though.
Sept 10th Max tried to stay home from school to look after me. I'm doing a lot better so I didn't need the help. I still don't understand why everyone's being so nice after what I did. Sept 14th Felt strong enough to go out for some air on my own. Saw Sinclair and that other kid. Think his name's Dustin. They were on their bikes. They waved and asked how I was doing. Told them I was fine and they rode off. Do I deserve their concern? Sept 15th Sinclair came back while I was on the porch. Asked for Max. I told him he couldn't be here because of Neil. We waited for Max a few houses down and talked about basketball. He's trying out for the team so I gave him some advice. It was a nice conversation. Didn't feel forced at all.
Sept 20th I told Lucas I was sorry for what happened that night. He said he'd forgotten all about it. I know the little shit was lying, but I guess he forgives me. That was cool of him.
Sept 29th Lucas made the team and thanked me for the advice. I don't feel like I did anything.
Oct 4th I'm feeling better than ever. Driving around on my own again. Nobody seems to blame me for what I did, and everyone's nice everywhere I go.
Oct 11th Went to see El. She's always kind to me. She's like the little sister I never had. She made me some waffles.
Oct 15th Saw Harrington again. It was warm so we went swimming in his pool. I really missed the water.
Oct 29th Haven't been writing much down. It feels like I'm saying the same things over and over. Everyone's always nice to me. Dad's not bothering me anymore. I feel like I have a lot of support around me. For once I feel safe. Oct 31st Went to a halloween party with Harrington. First time having a beer in months. Got a little too drunk and we kissed. He didn't seem to hate it. I didn't either.
Nov 9th Finally talked to Steve again after the kiss. He asked if I wanted to go steady. I said no at first, then changed my mind. I'm glad I did.
Steve smiled as he read every entry. Every few days, Billy's entries were longer and longer. He talked about things that made him smile, people he met, and how much he appreciated the simplest things. It was an amazing transformation. He continued to read the entries, his eyes widening when he read the most recent one. January 12th 1986 I'm falling in love with Steve. I was hoping he’d say it first but he hasn’t said anything. Maybe I’m too hopeful. He treats me like he loves me too, I think. But I’m not sure. Steve quickly closed the book, feeling like he'd violated Billy's privacy by reading something he hadn't known before. "Why so quiet, Steve? You read yesterday's entry, huh?" "I—yeah. I thought maybe you wrote it in the wrong journal."
"I didn't. I was gonna tell you, I just...I dunno. I didn't want you to think I was trying to move too fast."
Steve laughed. "You have no idea how relieved I am."
Billy narrowed his eyes. "Why?"
"Billy, I've been in love with you for weeks."
Billy snorted. "You're such a sap, pretty boy."
They shared a kiss and Billy wrote in his journal about how grateful he was, to love and be loved.
January 16th On August 21st last year, I was wrong. I have everything to be grateful for.
▪️▫️▪️
A little something to show my gratitude for reaching 400 followers. I appreciate all of you ❤️
Also tagging some friends I’ve met here that really belong in my gratitude journal for all the kindness they’ve shown lately and their posts just make me smile.

Friends, lovers… and an orange | Chapter 3

Masterlist
Tumblr media
Adele had been on her daily run for less than twenty minutes, when she noticed that a car was following her.
"Shit, fuck" she said under her breath, looking for a place where she could hide or ask for help. But she was in a residential area, so she sped up until she made it to the closest open business she could find: a flower shop.
"Hi, good morning" she said, trying to catch her breath. "Could you please do me a favour?"
"Of course" the woman from the shop smiled.
"Could you check if there is a grey car waiting outside? I think they've been following me."
"Oh dear" the woman said. "Wait here. I'll go outside as if you've asked for some of the flowers I have there."
"Thank you" Adele replied.
"You were right, there is a grey car outside" the woman said when she walked back into the shop. "I saw a man leaving the passenger seat, nod towards here, and then talk to the driver."
"Shit. Shit, shit, shit."
"It's ok, I won't leave you alone" the woman smiled again. "Come to the back of the store with me. I'll make you a cup of tea while we wait for the police."
"Thank you very much, ma'am" Adele said while trying to contain her tears.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"And?"
"They are gone" Luca said, sitting next to his sister. "I'm pretty sure the police scared the hell out of them."
"Good" Adele said. "They deserve it for doing the same to me."
Paparazzis. The men who had been following her, were paparazzis.
Turns out that the girls at the restaurant where she and Mason had had dinner, the ones she swore had said their names, recognized them the moment they walked in and had spent the whole night taking photos of them and posting them on social media, the press writing articles about it not long after. And if you only saw the photos, they did look like a couple on a date. The smiles, the way they were looking at each other, Adele touching Mason's hand...
"Is there anything else I could do for you?" the woman from the flower shop offered.
"Oh, no, don't worry. We are leaving" Adele said. "But thank you very much for your help, the tea, the company... You are an angel."
"Just doing what anyone would do" she smiled.
"I'm not so sure of that" Luca said. "But thank you for taking care of my sister."
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"I can't fucking believe it!"
"Mase..."
"No! They followed you! They harassed you! They crossed so many lines!"
When Luca and Adele had made it home, Mason was already there, pacing around the living room. And when he saw her, he had ran towards her and hugged her in a way he had never before, completely catching her by surprise.
"But now it is over" she said. "They know that if they do it again, we will call the police and they will be in trouble."
"Yes, them. But what about the other photographers? What if they do the same? This is not ok, Addie. It is not."
"What should we do, then?" Luca asked.
"Ignoring it like everyone has suggested us hasn't worked, so it's time we take matters into our own hands."
"Mase, what are you going to do?" Adele asked him while watching him furiously type on his phone.
"End this" he grunted.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"I know it is early for Christmas or my birthday, but I already know what I want as a gift: for the press to stop harassing my friends. Do you think that will do anything?" Jourdan asked Adele over the phone.
"I don't know" she sighed.
That had been the message Mason had posted on his Instagram stories and twitter account, and so far, people were going nuts about it. Them, and his agency. They hadn't liked that he had done something like that without consulting them first, but he didn't seem to care.
"When are you coming back home?"
"In a couple of days when Mason is done with his job. His agency booked us the tickets."
"Is that wise, tho? Traveling together after everything that has happened?"
"I don't know" Adele said again. "I honestly don't know what to do anymore, what is a good choice or a bad one. But if there are paps at the airport, at least I know I'll have him by my side."
"Addie..." Jourdan chuckled.
"What?"
"That sounded as if... As if you are starting to feel something for him."
"What? No! We are just friends!"
"Yeah, yeah. But maybe this thing about people believing that you are together is starting to like... rub off?"
"Jourdan, no. We are just friends."
"Ok, ok. Just friends" she repeated. Though she didn't sound too convinced.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"I wish the flight had been longer" Adele yawned, resting her head on Mason's shoulder while they waited for their luggage.
"You shouldn't have slept that much. Jet lag is gonna kick your ass" he laughed.
"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it."
"Just try not to fall asleep here, ok?"
"I don't think I would be able to even if I wanted to. What is going on?" she said, turning around to see what was causing all that noise.
"Fuck" Mason whispered. The paparazzis. They had found them and were inside the airport, security trying to keep them away.
"What are we going to do?"
"Mr. Mount? Miss Turlington?" a security guard said next to them. "Please follow me, I'll get you out of here."
"But our luggage..." Adele said.
"Don't worry about that now, Miss Turlington. Please follow me."
"C'mon" Mason said, grabbing her hand and starting to walk.
"Please let us through. Please" the man said while trying to push the photographers away. They had followed them after seeing Mason and Adele leave, and there were so many of them.
"Mase..."
"It's ok, we are almost there. I've got you" he said, giving her hand an encouraging squeeze. He was walking in front of her, protecting her from everything and everyone. If he hadn't been there, Adele was sure she would have not survived it.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"Addie, are you sure you are ok?"
"Yeah, yeah. For once I'm not complaining about being jet lagged." Because it meant spending most part of her day sleeping and not having to leave her house and face the paparazzis waiting outside. "How is Milan?"
"Beautiful as always" her mother Elizabeth said over the phone. "But I was thinking... Why don't you come to Paris with me? We could have some time together like we used to."
"I don't know, mum..."
"C'mon, Addie. You used to love spending time with me during fashion month! And it will help you distract yourself a bit."
"I'll think about it" she said.
Adele had always loved being backstage with her mum during fashion shows, getting to see how everything worked. And more than once, she had been asked to walk. But unlike Elizabeth, she hadn't been born to wear heels.
"Ok. But think about that hot chocolate from Cafe Angelina..."
"That's cheating, mum" Adele chuckled.
"But if it convinces you to come with me, then it will be worth it."
"Let me call Mase first and ask him what he is doing. If we both are in Paris at the same time..."
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"I'm skipping Paris, I have a shoot in Italy for the perfume I told you about. So go have some fun with your mum, don't worry about me."
"You sure?"
"I'm sure" Mason smiled over facetime. Though it wasn't his usual smile, the one that made his dimple pop.
"Mase, are you ok?"
"Yeah, I am. Why?"
"I don't know. You look a bit... Off."
"That's this phone's camera. I think I need to get a new one."
"Ok..." Adele said. But for some reason, she didn't believe him.
"You have to promise me something, tho."
"Something like what?"
"One, that you will eat some chocolate macarons for me."
"I will" she chuckled.
"And two, that you will enjoy Paris. Wear something fun, take as many photos as you can, attend some parties with your mum... Don't let them ruin it for you, Addie. Do you promise?"
"Promise" she smiled.
"Great. Now I better go, my agent is coming."
"Wait, have they... Have they found out yet who tipped the paps at the airport?"
"I gotta go, Addie. Bye" Mason said before hanging up, leaving her thinking that something was definitely going on with him.

My Sun, My Moon and All My Stars-Part 1
Tumblr media
Luca Changretta x OC (Aurora Sabini Changretta)
Summary: Luca and Aurora Changretta come to the UK to avenge the murder of Luca's brother and father. However, as their volatile marriage unravels, events take an unexpected turn.
Author's Note: This has been on my mind since I created the moodboard ages ago. And it's been requested in several forms, the most recent being a lovely anon who wanted to see Tommy with an American mafia girl. OC Rose Solomons belongs to @raincoffeeandfandoms. Prequel has been posted as phone calls in two parts here and here. I would def recommend reading that before starting this fic! One more part coming soon!
Warnings: language, domestic violence, mention of blood, use of ethnic slur
☀️🌙✨MASTERLIST
Luca stood pointing at a map with his forefinger, tracing a path from the garden to the center of Arrow House, mumbling in a low voice to his men. Thunder rumbled overhead as Aurora made her way into the room, unnoticed by everyone, skirting the perimeter of the room as she listened carefully. When she’d heard enough she spoke up from the back of the room, voice even and measured to show she was in control as much as her husband. “Non sono d’accordo, Luca.”
Luca’s head shot up as he searched between the faces to find his wife, though he thought he’d caught a hint of her perfume moments earlier, taunting him as he attempted to strategize.
“It’s too risky to approach him at home again,” Aurora declared, stalking toward the desk with cigarette in hand. The smoke parted the men before her arrival at the table and she stamped out her cigarette a bit too forcefully before joining her husband where he stood. Although she hadn’t been invited to give her opinion, she’d been listening to every word, silently judging the ludicrous plan Luca was suggesting.
“Don’t you remember what the intelligence said about his family? They’re gypsies, fucking savages,” she emphasized. “And he’ll be expecting us this time so he'll have even more protection,” Aurora said with a dismissive shake of her head. Luca’s face and neck reddened at the scolding tone of her voice, his blood boiling instantly at the brazen way she dared to usurp his power.
The air grew thick with their silence and as Aurora’s eyes scanned the room, she noticed not one of the men looked in her direction. They shifted uncomfortably as Luca reached for a matchstick, placing it between gritted teeth.
A low growl emitted before his words, causing everyone to stand at attention once more. “And what would you have me do, tesoro?” he said the pet name without any hint of warmth, but Aurora did not back away. In fact, she stepped closer to her husband, standing just below his shoulder as she placed a hand to his forearm gently.
“I’m only asking that we consider a few more options,” she said diplomatically. Then she reasoned, “There must be another way to get to Tommy Shelby. His sister’s home in London or perhaps one of his factories. We’ll have to wait for him to come to us this time.”
Luca removed the match from his mouth as she spoke, lighting it and held it perilously close to her face as he taunted, “We smoke him out, principessa? Is that what you want?” he asked moving even closer, the flame in danger of catching her loose curls on fire.
Aurora didn’t blink as she watched the flame dance before her eyes. She could feel the heat close to her skin and her pulse quickened. “Basta cosi!,” she warned with raised eyebrow.
As lightning flashed outside the office window the spell was broken, Luca blew out the match with a dark chuckle. Turning to his men he concluded with a wave of his hand, “You heard my wife.” Then rolling up the map before him with haste he added, “We’ll pick this up tomorrow when everyone’s rested.” Everyone filed out, but Matteo and Enzo remained to ensure nothing else was needed for the evening. Aurora remained at the window as Luca instructed, “Seven o’ clock sharp, you understand?”
“Yes, boss,” Matteo and Enzo replied, trudging toward their rooms. It was only their second night in England and they had not yet acclimated to the time difference. They felt the exhaustion seeping into their bones, the relentless demands weighing on them heavily.
Before they could move more than a few steps down the corridor, they heard the shouting begin. As the sound of glass shattering broke the crescendo of voices, Matteo ran a hand down his face, a hint of irritation as he sighed heavily. “Do you have the number for the hospital?” he asked his associate.
Enzo nodded slowly. “And the morgue,” he added solemnly, eyes lingering on the doorknob. He didn’t want to listen to the distinct sounds of Luca’s blows striking the object of his ire or Aurora’s muffled cries, but he would have to stand watch until it was over to know how to proceed.
Luca tired easily tonight and Aurora limped from the suite thirty minutes later, hair disheveled to hide the bruise forming across her cheekbone. She fell once, picking herself up from the hard wooden floor with a sniffle and Matteo and Enzo turned from her as though they hadn’t seen her in ruin, a familiar routine of make believe.
“Let’s get some fucking sleep,” Matteo said when she disappeared into a separate room.
Enzo had just closed the door to his room and kicked off his shoes when the phone began to ring.
“Enzo, what’s going on? Luca hasn’t phoned,” Mr. Sabini grumbled.
“Luca’s been…working on strategy,” Enzo fumbled, thinking of the fight he’d just witnessed. He didn’t dare mention it to Aurora’s father though. Out of everyone who knew of their tumultuous marriage, Antonio Sabini was somehow unaware of his daughter’s plight.
As if on cue, Antonio asked, “How’s Aurora?”
Enzo gulped as he thought of a reply. “You know, she’s got her ideas,” he said truthfully.
“That’s my little girl!,” Antonio answered proudly. "She's got a sharp mind and she's good under pressure!" he boasted. "Mark my words, Enzo, this vendetta will end as quickly as it started now that Luca has my Aurora by his side. She won't lose any of our men either because she's much more delicate than he is with these affairs you see. Luca's always been too temperamental," he mused.
"Yeah," Enzo agreed quietly, hoping Mr. Sabini was right.
“Keep me informed. I want to know everything,” Antonio said sternly. “And keep Aurora out of danger if it comes to that.”
“Yes, sir,” Enzo reluctantly agreed, unsure how he was going to keep the promise.
“And Enzo, buy her blue hydrangeas tomorrow,” Antonio ordered. “They’re her favorite. I don’t want her feeling homesick,” he added softly, the fondness of a memory seeping into his voice and making it much quieter than before.
“Of course,” Enzo said, replacing the heavy receiver in the cradle and falling into bed, only to be awoken an hour later by the sounds of lovemaking in the room next door.
—————————————-
At seven the next morning, Aurora entered Luca’s office, smiling to herself as she held a large bouquet in her arms. All the men in the room turned to drink in the sight of her glamour, a trait that lived on in her from her exceptionally beautiful mother. Enzo and Matteo exchanged knowing glances as they traced the lines of her face, noting how talented she’d become at hiding the swelling and bruises.
Although it sickened them to watch, she bent low to capture Luca’s mouth in a tender kiss, pulling away to breath a near silent “mi dispiace” against his lips. For reasons known only to her and Luca, they always fell back into each other’s arms. It was as predictable as the rising sun.
“I know you are, baby,” he replied, turning her out of his lap.
“Grazie, amore,” she said sweetly holding up the flowers and stroking his cheek adoringly.
Luca knitted his brow, a hint of confusion noticeable, before he glanced up at his wife with a smug grin. “Of course, sweetheart. If you’ll excuse us, there’s business this morning and I think you had your say last night.”
Aurora nodded obediently and went to put the flowers in water as though in a trance. As soon as the door had shut behind her, Luca’s expression changed to a deep grimace. “Which one of you assholes got flowers for my wife?” He leaned forward onto his elbows, awaiting an answer.
Soon Enzo spoke up with a slight tremble in his voice. “It was me, but it wasn’t because of last night, Luca.”
Luca narrowed his eyes. “What the fuck did you say to me?”
“Her father asked me to get ‘em,” Enzo clarified with a slight cough, suddenly remembering his lines in the play they were subconsciously rehearsing at any given moment.
“Figlio di puttana!” Luca said, smacking the desk with his palm. “He spoiled her and now look how she acts!”  He shook his head with an indignant scoff, turning to look out the window. “Thank God she married a man like me to keep her in her place, right?”
———————————————
“We aren’t in Darby’s territory any more. Where are we going, Luca?,” Aurora asked as the car bumped along the narrow roads. Luca turned to look out the window as though he didn’t hear, second guessing his decision to bring his wife along to the negotiations with the mad baker of Camden Town. However, Aurora would not be ignored. She had played the dutiful wife for weeks so as not to insult his manhood further, but every attempt at moving closer to Tommy Shelby had failed, resulting in multiple casualties. To make matters worse, every man lost was a member of her own family, brought from New York to aid the Changrettas in their vendetta. The idea of losing more men sickened her and she began to consider the possibility that she would have to challenge her husband once more.
Then Luca spoke up, but he only offered a sliver of information. “We’re on our way to Camden Town, alright?” he said before settling back into his seat with a sigh.
Aurora was raised at her father’s elbow watching the deals he made and how he researched his enemies. However, there were things she’d learned on her own as a result of being the only woman in a room full of men. How you had to demure and make them think an idea had been their own. She’d learned the art of manipulation and weaponized it early on as a means of survival. Today called for such an approach.
“An alliance with the Jews? That’s clever,” she praised, hoping her guess was correct. Running a hand along his knee seductively, she waited for Luca to confirm her suspicions.
Luca turned to face his wife, a surprised look on his face. “And how do you know about Alfie Solomons?”
“He’s connected to the east Boston Jews. But, Darby knows him, of course. Says he’s unpredictable and violent,” Aurora added wearily.
She watched the muscles in Luca’s jaw tighten beneath the shadow of his fedora, knowing he didn’t like Aurora involving herself. Rubbing two fingers against his chin thoughtfully, he dismissed her concern. “I’ve spoken to your father and he approves. That’s all you need to know,” Luca said firmly.
“I wish you would tell me more about today,” she cajoled.
“No, amore. Not this time,” Luca said, clasping his large fingers over her gloved hand and giving her a squeeze that bordered on painful reprimand.
As the car jerked to a stop in front of a dilapidated building in Camden Town, she turned to her husband and took once last desperate chance as they exited the vehicle. “Luca, let me speak to Mr. Solomons. A woman’s touch to the negotiations might be just the thing to keep him from erupting,” she said innocently.
This infuriated Luca and he pulled her back, making her stumble on the rough cobblestones. “Like hell you will. This is my deal!” he spat.
“That concerns my family name and my blood!” Aurora retaliated, batting at his chest with her fists, unable to control herself further.
Luca’s eyes blazed with fury, striking her with full force and causing her to fall to the ground. Landing on rough stone, she sliced her arm as she hit, immaculate clothing ruined in the filthy street.
“Get the fuck up,” Luca commanded through clenched teeth.
Aurora winced involuntarily as she pushed her body forward, feeling the pain in her arm throb as soon as he placed weight onto her hand and blood trickle from her nose. “Vaffanculo!” she yelled, placing her fingertips to her chin and thrusting them toward him.
Luca leaned down and dragged her to her feet, fingers digging into her flesh as he swore, "You make any more trouble for me and I swear to God you'll die here, Aurora. No one will know the difference if I tell them the Shelbys did it," he hissed in her ear as a small woman with dark hair appeared before them.
“Can I help you with something?” she asked, looking the couple up and down, hands on her hips with more authority than someone her size ought to have.
Luca released his wife immediately, straightening her clothes as he painted on a charming smile. “She fell on the cobblestones,” he explained smoothly. “I’m here to see Alfie Solomons. Is he in?” he inquired as he stepped forward, seeming to forget his wife in distress.
“Depends on whose asking,” the woman replied, glancing at Aurora with concern.
Luca removed his hat as he introduced himself. “I’m Luca Changretta,” he said, extending a hand.
Thoroughly unimpressed by his charisma, the tiny woman tilted her head at him. “And who is she?”
Luca coughed to cover his embarrassment. “This is my wife, Aurora. She’ll be staying outside,” he said with a pointed look at his wife, who stood, cradling her arm.
“If you want to see my husband, I insist this woman come in as well. She requires medical attention,” Rose said sternly.
“If you insist,” Luca said, pursing his lips.
“I insist,” the woman said with a definitive nod. “I’m Rose Solomons, Alfie’s wife. Come in,” she said with a wave of her hand.
“Darling,” Luca said with a sneer, extending his arm toward Aurora.
Aurora pushed past him and followed Rose inside. Luca followed two steps behind, removing a match from his pocket and chewing it ferociously. He didn’t like being humiliated by the Solomons woman and made a mental note to make Alfie pay dearly for it.
As Luca was shown to Alfie’s office, Rose took Aurora to a separate part of the distillery. Her interest was peaked now that she’d witnessed something between husband and wife that felt unsavory. The Solomons’ liked to make it their business to know everything about their associates and this felt like something worth noting.
———————
Rose expected someone quite different from the woman she was meeting today. She’d heard Aurora Changretta was a tigress, someone who never gave an inch to her enemies. However, the woman who stood before her bloodied and broken was not in a position to argue. She might listen to the plea on Rose’s lips so she began in earnest.
As Rose handed over a flannel dipped in cool water, she admitted what she wanted. “I’ll be blunt, Mrs. Changretta. My Alfie has cancer. He’s riddled with it. The doctors say it’s probably from the gas during the war,” she explained with furrowed brow as though she didn’t understand or believe the words that came from her lips. However, Aurora knew them to be true. They were the admission of someone who loved deeply and had not yet come to terms with an imminent loss.
“I’m sorry,” Aurora responded. “But I don’t see how I can help,” she admitted.
Rose cleared her throat and straightened her shoulders, rising to her full height. “You can get that man out there to go home. Leave us in peace for the days we have left,” she asserted.
Aurora bit her lip to keep a bitter laugh from escaping. Instead she just shook her head. Taking a deep breath she turned to Rose and spoke slowly to make the other woman realize her predicament. “You think I tell him the ways of the world? No, he doesn’t answer to me,” she admitted, dabbing at her wounds. “He has very little use for me these days,” Aurora admitted in a soft whisper.
"I thought your family ran New York?" Rose asked slightly confused.
"And now it's my husband so you see we're bound," Aurora replied with a look of resolve.
Rose took in the sight before her, bruises covered by layers of make up, bones badly healed over time. The limp when she walked inside and the arm she cradled gingerly now. This was a woman who knew suffering and yet there was tenacity in her hazel eyes that couldn't be denied. It was this strength Rose appealed to now.
“You’d die by his hand? Because that’s where you’re headed, love,” Rose warned, recalling her own difficult past. “Won’t you try?”
Aurora paused for a moment, a trickle of bloody water running down her elbow as she washed. This went against everything Aurora had ever been taught. You never spoke against your family, no matter what happened. Her parents ingrained that in her at an early age. However, her parents’ marriage had been one based on love and respect. No matter how many times they reconciled, she and Luca did not carry the same affection.
As she sat in the damp distillery, listening to the distant sound of machinery, she thought of her future with Luca and his intention to crush her beneath him became abundantly clear. He didn’t care for her as he once did. When the money and the resources were gone, he would dispose of her.
Finally Aurora mumbled one word into the darkness of the small room, keeping her voice low in case Luca was nearby. “How?”
Rose inhaled a sharp breath, chin rising suddenly with renewed hope to meet Aurora’s wide eyes, full of questions and doubt. She knew how hard it would be to ask this of kind of trust from a stranger, but if she could convince her to take the first step, the rest would fall into place.
“We get you to Tommy Shelby,” Rose said confidently.
Aurora shook her head violently. “No, please. He’ll kill me.”
“He won’t. He’s not Luca,” Rose promised, rushing the rest of her speech for fear Aurora might bolt in fear. “This vendetta was started by the Changrettas and your husband is using your family to fund his war. Now he’s asking my husband to help. It won’t stop unless we say so. We can stop him, Aurora. Will you join me?” Rose asked, reaching for Aurora’s bloodied hand.
Aurora’s lip trembled thinking of crossing Luca, but she had had enough. If there was one thing her father taught her it was to fight for her own interests and she knew she still had fight within her.
“Yes, I’ll help you,” Aurora agreed on a shaky breath, reaching for Rose.
“We’ll protect you, I promise,” Rose said, intertwining her fingers with Aurora’s stained fingertips. The blood that tainted her would soon be washed clean.
————————————
It had taken another week and several clandestine phone calls before Aurora could steal away to meet Rose. She’d convinced Luca that she needed medicine for her cuts and he allowed her to leave the hotel though she knew she didn’t have long. Rose knew a man who could help them meet in neutral territory, but it would be brief as Luca sent someone to watch over Aurora whenever she left. With that in mind, Aurora stole away one afternoon wondering if this was all a mistake.
The bell above the door of the chemist rang out and Aurora took a deep breath, scanning the small shop for Rose. The tiny woman stood in the corner, observing a box as though she were another patron and when she spied Aurora she beckoned to her. Aurora felt her heart thundering in her chest as she followed Rose through a narrow doorway, descending a dark staircase. However, it was far too late to reconsider and she marched ahead with as much courage as she could muster.
Aurora soon found herself face to face with Tommy Shelby who paced the length of a small, dimly lit room. She knew him instantly from photographs and descriptions of his deep blue eyes like two pools that could drown you if you stared too long. The moment she entered, she was mesmerized by him.
“You killed my wife,” Tommy said, a stillness coming over his features when he caught sight of his enemy. Aurora sucked in a breath, recognizing the inherent danger facing her. Violent men all had the same deceiving comportment, a snake coiled and ready to strike.
“Tommy, please....” Rose interjected in a pleading tone, willing the meeting to continue. Rose glanced at Aurora and noticed a visible change in her demeanor, a hardening of her exterior as she refused to show any kind of weakness.
“Luca killed your wife. I only tried to kill you,” Aurora said defiantly, head held high.
A moment of silence passed as Tommy considered Aurora. Then she spoke again, "You misunderstand, Mr. Shelby. I'm trying to end this. It was never my fight," she said softly, feeling the weight of every life lost in service to her and the family.
“If this wasn’t your fight, why the fuck are you supplying your husband enough money and soldiers to overthrow the British empire, love?” Tommy countered.
“Loyalty. I hear that you’re like me when it comes to your family, Mr. Shelby. You would do anything to protect them. I didn’t agree with my husband, but I promised to protect him….”
“Do you honestly think he’d do the same for you?,” Tommy asked, blue eyes icing over to match the chill in his voice. He knew he was being cruel, but he had to test her in this moment to see if she would crumble.
“I have no illusions about our marriage,” Aurora confided on a low breath. She forced herself to make eye contact as she said, “That's why I'm here. Rose told me you might be willing to strike a bargain.”
Tommy scoffed, turning away from Aurora and she worried what she’d been told about his mercy was false.
“Fucking hell, Tommy. She’s here and she’s willing to talk. Isn’t that enough?” Rose asked.
Tommy turned with a look of warning, “Alright, give him up.”
“What?” Aurora asked.
“Give up your husband and we’ll call it even,” Tommy demanded.
Aurora swallowed harshly, considering the choices at her disposal. Stay and see more bloodshed or end it with one final betrayal. It took only a fraction of a second to see the choice she had to make.
“An ambush,” Aurora agreed quietly, fixing her gaze on Tommy. “But we have to make Luca think you aren’t expecting him. That he can take the shot.”
A smug look came over Tommy's handsome face. "You are as ruthless as they say, aren't you?" he commented. Then just as suddenly the amusement in his features disappeared and he turned stone faced once more. “How do I know I can trust you?” Tommy asked.
Aurora began to laugh bitterly.
“That’s fucking funny to you?” Tommy asked.
Aurora shook her head as a tear fell from her cheek, the enormity of her decision causing her to fall into a momentary fit of insanity. “He married me and he saw cashmere, cologne, red racing cars…All I wanted was love. It wasn't supposed to be like this,” she sniffed as she looked away from him, trying to catch her breath and regain composure. She pushed the pain away and felt her anger rise up in its place, “I just want out, you understand? I want out from under him," she confided, her whole body beginning to shake.
Rose approached her and covered her with her shawl. “It’s alright, Aurora. You’re going to be alright,” she promised, looking to Tommy.
“Artillery Square, two days time,” he said with a satisfactory nod.

Happily Ever After.....
Oh Baby........
Tumblr media
A couple of days after you and Jensen came back from your honeymoon, you decided to tell your family and friends about the pregnancy. Everyone was happy for you both. Becca being the most excited at becoming an "auntie". The kids were a bit apprehensive to begin with but when Jensen sat then down and explained that he wouldn't love them any less they came round to the idea of having a new baby brother or sister. JJ and Arrow were hoping for another girl, but Zeppelin was adamant you were having a boy. He was kinda feeling outnumbered so said he was praying for a brother to play with.
You and Jensen sat nervously in the waiting room of the sonogram clinic, your hands intertwined tightly. You were about to find out whether you were having a baby boy or a baby girl. Your heart raced with excitement as you and Jensen anticipated this special moment.
When your names were called, you both entered the room and met the sonographer, a kind woman named Dr. Thompson. You lay down on the examination bed as Dr. Thompson prepared the sonogram machine. You couldn't help but feel a mix of nervousness and anticipation. Jensen held onto your hand, providing a steady support.
As the sonogram began, Dr. Thompson moved the wand over your belly, searching for the first glimpse of the baby. Your heart skipped a beat as you saw the flickering image on the screen. The room seemed to hold its breath, waiting for Dr. Thompson's words.
"I see two heartbeats," Dr. Thompson finally announced, her voice filled with excitement.
Tumblr media
You and Jensen gazed at each other in disbelief. Twins? You were going to have twins! Your joy was quickly overshadowed by a surge of anxiety that washed over you quite quickly. Thoughts about how you would handle caring for two babies at once overwhelmed you causing an anxiety attack. Of course Jensen had already been through this with Danneel so he knew what to expect. Jensen immediately recognized the signs and gently placed his hands on your face, your eyes locking. "Hey, hey, look at me," he spoke softly, his voice soothing and full of love. "We can do this. We're in this together, and we'll figure it out together. Take deep breaths, just like we practiced."
You focused on Jensen's voice and tried to match your breathing with his. Slowly, your racing heart began to steady, and a sense of calm washed over you. Jensen's unwavering support was their anchor in this storm of anxiety. He always knew how to keep you grounded when he could see you were struggling. After what happened when he came home from filming, finding you gone, he vowed that you would never feel like that again.
After a few moments, your breathing steadied, and they managed to regain control. You gave Jensen a weak smile, grateful for his unwavering strength when you needed it the most. Together, you and Jensen turned your attention back to the sonogram screen, where the image of their twins continued to fill the room.
Dr. Thompson resumed the examination, capturing images of tiny hands, feet, and little faces. You and Jensen watched in awe as your babies moved and wriggled, as if sensing their parents' presence. It was a breathtaking sight, one that melted away any lingering doubts or fears.
When the sonogram was complete, Dr. Thompson printed a copy for you to take home. You and Jensen held the image close, marveling at the miracle growing within your womb. The twin babies were a blessing you both never expected but were beyond grateful for.
Months passed, and your belly grew round with life. The day finally arrived when you went into labor. Jensen never left your side, offering words of encouragement and love as you endured each painful contraction. You weren't going to lie to Jensen when you told him you were scared.
In a whirlwind of emotions, the day turned into night, and after what felt like an eternity, You and Jensen finally held your babies contently in your arms. You named them Eliza and Lucas, two perfect little beings who had captured yours and Jensen's hearts from the moment they saw them on that sonogram screen.
As you and Jensen gazed down at Eliza and Lucas, your hearts swelled with love and a newfound sense of purpose. The anxiety that once consumed you seemed like a distant memory as you marveled at the tiny hands and feet, knowing that they were embarking on the greatest adventure of their lives.
From that day forward, you and Jensen tackled parenthood as a team. Through sleepless nights, endless diaper changes, and moments of chaos, you and Jensen stood together, providing love, support, and a stable foundation for your growing family.
Eliza and Lucas grew up surrounded by an abundance of love and joy. You and Jensen treasured every milestone, knowing that your journey towards parenthood wasn't always easy, but it was undoubtedly worth it.
And as the years passed, Yours and Jensen's love story continued to unfold, filled with laughter, tears, and countless memories that you both cherished. The twins, Eliza and Lucas, were a reminder of the strength they found within each other, and the power of love to overcome any obstacle.
Together, Yours and Jensen's love grew with every passing day, your bond forever solidified by the beautiful family you both had created. And you lived happily, knowing that you both were blessed beyond measure, grateful for the journey, good and bad, that had brought you both to this moment.
So I think this has finished the little series off nicely 😁 hope you guys enjoyed it 🥰

STWG Prompt: “Goodnight Love”
Sue Sinclair was a smart woman.  She knew her children were hiding something from her.  She knew there was something wrong with Hawkins.  She knew that this town was operating under a mob mentality.  At the moment though, all she cared about was getting her children home.
The last few days had been bad.  Particularly bad, like the nights Lucas had disappeared, only to show up hours later, visibly shaken and with the chief of police of all people.  Like when Erica had disappeared over the summer and Lucas hadn't come home, both of them silent and terrified outside the burning mall.  But this was... this was a new level of bad.
They'd run from the cops, dangerous on any occasion, but the way Deputy Callahan's hand had twitched towards his gun had made her heart stop.  They'd vanished and then there had been..  Well, the official explanation was an earthquake, but it wasn't like any earthquake Sue or Charlie had ever heard of.  The ground had opened just a few blocks down...
The phone lines were miraculously still working.  And hearing Lucas plead for them to get to the hospital had nearly stopped her heart yet again.  Lucas was a level headed boy, only occasionally got overly emotional, and she only heard him cry when something truly awful happened.  He'd reassured her that he and Erica were alive, but the way he'd said it hadn't sounded right.
She clutched Charlie's sleeve, his hand solid on her lower back as they walked briskly into the overcrowded hospital.  "Lucas?  Erica?"  Her head swiveled as she tried to catch a glimpse of them.  They were in the corner of the waiting room and she pulled Charlie that way.  Her heart broke at the way Erica burst into tears at the sight of them.  Charlie picked her up like she was the baby she hadn't been in many years and Sue could see bandages on her knees and palms, dress stained with dirt and grass and blood.
Lucas wasn't doing much better.  Tears had already begun to fall down his cheeks, eye badly bruised and lip swollen.  She could see blood at his hairline and it didn't paint a pretty picture of what had happened.  "Lucas," she whispered, pulling him into her arms.  "Oh baby, what happened to you?"
"Jason Carver happened to him."  A girl she recognized, dressed up in camouflage and reinforced leather clothing stood up, reaching out a shaking hand to lay it on Lucas' arm.  "He was- Max-"  The girl, Robin, Sue belatedly remembered, couldn't seem to get a full word out.  She was injured too, it looked like someone had tried to strangle her along with various scrapes and cuts and bruises on her exposed skin.  Her hand looked burnt, hastily wrapped in bandages.  "Shit," she hissed, wiping at her eyes.
Lucas let out a soft sob into her shoulder at the mention of Max.  She knew they'd been through an elongated rough patch, Lucas insisting things weren't over between them.  "They won't let me see her," he whispered, voice trembling.
"She's in surgery."  The other girl with him, Mike's older sister Nancy, spoke up, but her eyes didn't settle on one place for long.  She was scanning the room, only lingering on the entrances and exits.  Her hands twitched like she was supposed to be holding something.  "She was hurt.  Bad.  She wasn't the only one."
"Who else was hurt?"  Sue had Lucas lift his head and she delicately wiped away his tears.
"Steve... and Dustin... and- and Eddie."  The last name came with another sob and he was burying himself in her arms again, clinging like he hadn't since he thought Will had died.
"Eddie Munson?"  She frowned, the name all too familiar.  Chief Powell had seemed sure the boy was behind the latest string of murders, had asked them and the Wheelers and Claudia if they knew where he was, seeing as their boys were in his club at school.  She didn't quite believe it, even if Lucas had his disagreements with him, she doubted the fantasy game had anything to do with real violence.  "What happened to Eddie Munson?"
Robin scrubbed at her eyes, keeping the heels of her hands against them as she squeaked out a quiet "he died."
Lucas cried harder and she could hear Erica's quiet sobs to her left.  "Oh honey," she murmured.  "Because of the earthquake?"
"...yes."  Sue could hear the hesitation in her voice and knew that this wasn't adding up.  But Lucas' sobs were growing in volume and Erica seemed inconsolable.
"What about Dustin?"  A sweet boy, he'd been one of Lucas' first friends when they'd moved to Hawkins.  He could be loud and eccentric, but Lucas had never had anything but good things to say.
"He broke his ankle, he's getting it set and put in a cast."  Robin wrung her hands and Sue felt the urge to reach out and stop her before she hurt herself.  "And Steve was... he's hurt, they're taking care of him."
Steve Harrington was the only babysitter in Hawkins who could keep up with Erica.  She insisted she didn't need a babysitter, but she didn't argue when it was Steve who came over.  Sue wasn't sure why he got along with her so well, but he'd been present for Lucas too, after saving him from that Billy Hargrove a couple years back.  "Right..."  She cradled the back of Lucas' head as he seemed to slump against her more firmly.  "We should get you two home," she murmured.
"But Max-"
"We can come back tomorrow."  Part of her was tempted to ground both of her kids, keep them locked in their rooms until summer break.  But it wouldn't be fair.  She needed the full story, but knew that wouldn't be happening anytime soon.
The older girls promised to call if anything changed, and she and Charlie got the kids in the car.  She glanced back on the drive home and saw Erica clutching Lucas' hand in both of hers, shaking like a leaf.  It was unusual to see her shaken like that, to see her upset and quiet.  She was usual outspoken and a little too bold, but she looked young and small in the back seat.
In the light of their home, the injuries felt worse to Sue.  Felt wrong on her children's bodies.  Charles knelt on the kitchen floor and wiped Erica's scrapes clean while she cleaned blood and tears off of Lucas' face.  It was quiet, far too quiet.  The kids seemed to be settling into the shock, Lucas still trembling with every touch.
"You two go get ready for bed, we'll be up in a few minutes," Charlie said, voice low as he stood from the floor.
Erica reached out and latched onto Lucas' arm before going upstairs with him, an odd sight.  She hadn't reached for her brother like that... maybe ever.
"There are so many questions I didn't think to ask," she whispered, falling into her husband's arms.
He held her to his chest and kissed the top of her head, but there was a steadiness that wasn't present like it usually was.  It was almost nice to not be the only one knocked off kilter.  "I didn't think of any either.  Eddie is... Wayne's kid... Christ, do you think he knows?"
Charlie went out to the bar with a few other veterans in town, he'd mentioned Wayne a few times.  "I wonder..."  She sighed.  "I don't understand.  Erica has never done this before, Lucas... I don't know what the connection is or why he keeps disappearing.  It's always just when we think it won't happen again."  She clutched Charles' shirt in frustration.  "What aren't they telling us?"
"I don't know, honey."  He sighed.  "We'll take them to see Max tomorrow, but then they're grounded indefinitely."
"Until college," she agreed.  "Mike isn't even in town, why were they with his sister...?"
"And not all of those scrapes are just from tripping, who would hurt Erica?"  They were both quiet for a long moment, knowing very well that the type to hurt a young black girl existed in Hawkins.  It was just hard to understand the why.
Sue shook her head sadly.  "For tonight... we'll let them sleep.  We'll get answers in the morning."  She let her hand drift down Charlie's arm, just grounding herself to him for another moment.
As she climbed the stairs, she could hear hissed whispers from Lucas' room.  "We can't tell them."
"We didn't sign anything this time!  They're going to find out!"  Lucas had never been very good at whispering.
"What if we get in trouble?  Hopper isn't here to keep us safe anymore.  Who knows when the suits are gonna show up?"
"If they show up.  They're going to leave this town to the dogs," Lucas spit, sounded far too bitter.  "Literal dogs."
"I still don't believe you on that.  We need Eleven."  Eleven?  What did that mean?
"Mrs. Byers would know what to do.  Or Will.  I wish they hadn't moved."
"Even Wheeler might have some idea.  He's been your stupid leader long enough."
"Hey!  He's not our leader!"
She took that as her cue to finish ascending the stairs.  "Kids?"  She looked inside just in time to see Erica scramble off the bed.  "Remember to brush your teeth," she called after her.
Lucas went quiet and looked down at his lap.  He was holding a pajama shirt in his hands, but wasn't making any moves to change.  "Mom?"
"What is it, honey?"
"...I'm scared," he whispered, eyes going glassy.  "Max- she-"  He sniffled and wiped at his eyes before any new tears could fall.  "Her heart stopped, mom."
"Oh Lucas," she whispered, pulling him into her arms again.  She wasn't sure when he'd gotten so tall, but sometime around Christmas she'd realized she had to look up at him now.  But here, he was bending down in her arms until he could tuck his face against her neck.  "She's in the best place she can be right now.  They'll do whatever they can to help her."  She didn't know that for sure, she didn't even know what had happened, but it was what Lucas needed to hear.  He sniffled and she could feel his tears on her skin.  "Never disappear like that again.  You aren't getting out of trouble, you got it?"  She held him tighter and felt his arms clutch at her.
"I know, mom."
She held him for a few more minutes, could hear Charlie come upstairs and heard his low voice from Erica's room.  She sent Lucas to change and brush his teeth, hating the way he looked so small when he came back.  The blood had been wiped away, she hadn't found any deep cuts under his hair, but the bruises stood out and his eyes were bloodshot.  "Come on, it's time for you to rest."
He let her tuck him in and kiss his forehead, but before she could go far, he spoke up.  "Mom?  Will you... will you stay?  For a little bit?  Please?"
Sue sat on the bed on top of the blankets and gently pulled him until his head was by her side.  "I'll stay."
It had been a long time since she was here, sitting with him like this.  He held her like he was still the same little boy he used to be, but instead, he was a young man now.  It hurt her heart just as much as it warmed it to be clung to by him.  "Goodnight, my love," She whispered to him, watching over him until he fell asleep.
Tomorrow would be another day, just as long and harrowing as this one.  She'd demand answers and get them, hear things more horrifying than she could ever dream up.
But for now, Lucas slept, curled right up to her side.

Eddie Munson x fem!reader
Word count: 2.1k
Summary: Eddie and Max play an innocent game that inevitably ends up focusing on you.
A/N: I really like to imagine that Max and Eddie could have been good friends, so here's a short one. I hope you like it!
Tumblr media
Eddie rubbed his eyes as he walked to the door to attend to the knocking. It was pouring rain outside, who the hell could it be?
"Red" he greeted lazily. It was his youngest neighbor, Max, who had taken shelter from the rain on the porch of the trailer.
"My mom isn’t here and I don't have a key, can I stay here?" she asked, to which Eddie nodded and stepped aside to let her pass. After both of them had been nearly killed by Vecna they had grown closer, a friendship blossoming from their common trauma. Eddie sometimes took the girl to school and had visits from her like this on occasion, while he had even learned to play some of Kate Bush on his acoustic guitar for her to listen to. He felt good having the girl around, as he had always wanted a younger sister and somehow he could see her as that.
“Do you want something to eat for dinner?” Eddie asked, pulling a couple of grapes from a fruit bowl to pop into his mouth. Thank Wayne and God at least there was never a shortage of food in that house (or trailer, rather).
"I ate something at Lucas's house"
"Huh, so you were with Sinclair," he sneered and inevitably she blushed "He stopped being a jerk yet?"
"Not yet, but... it's less so now"
"It's less so now," he repeated with amusement. He didn't want to push her too hard so he just flopped down on the couch next to her, not mentioning anything else on the subject. Before she arrived, he was writing a song for the band so he took the notebook back to check how he could improve the lyrics, but the truth was that he abandoned it after a few minutes. He was racking his brains to find something good, but he knew inspiration would come at some point, no pressure. "Do you want to play something?" he murmured, hoping that with that they could beat the boredom.
"Play what?" Eddie held up a finger as a request that she wait and dashed into her room to find a small black and red D20. “No! You know I don't like D&D."
"I know you don't like it, it's not that," he laughed. He motioned for her to come over to the bar and sit in front of him, “We're going to say random things, and then we're going to throw it. If a natural 20 comes up, we have to do it,” he explained. It was simple, nothing dangerous and fun, so she nodded at the idea.
"And what do I have to say?"
"I don't know, whatever you want," he exclaimed as she shrugged. Max thought about it for a moment and then spoke again.
"If I roll a natural 20, you... you're going to go out in the rain for a minute." she rolled the dice on the bar and when she stopped there was a 3 on the top face of it.
“My turn,” Eddie said, taking the object and shaking it in his hand. “If I roll a natural 20, you're going to steal Mike's lunch on Monday.” The girl laughed and nodded as Eddie rolled the dice. This time a 9 came up.
So they went on, beginning with small things, for a long time. The challenges ranged from wearing ridiculous clothes to school to ruining beloved Steve Harrington's hair, but luckily only a couple of those had come to fruition. At some point Max's eyes lit up at an idea and she smirked at the boy.
“If I roll a natural 20, you have to call Y/N and tell her you like her”
Eddie froze at this, not even daring to breathe at the sound of your name. Oh, how could he begin to describe you? He and you had started talking, like most of his new friends, thanks to the disaster that had threatened Hawkins. Chrissy's death in the school gym had shocked everyone and although there was no relationship, most had harshly judged Hellfire under the allegation that they ‘were a cult’ and practiced all that satanic shit. And that's where you came to the rescue, willing to even fight with blows with those who messed with your children. You were very protective of the underage group, and luckily for Eddie, you were also protective of him, even though you barely knew him. Inevitably he got mixed up in the 'Upside Down' stuff and that's how you formally introduced yourself. It had been months since, for reasons still unknown to you, Eddie had saved you and Dustin from a demobat attack and the rest is history.
But he had never discussed his feelings for you with anyone. If he had, he'd probably tell her that he'd felt that way for many years, when he'd seen you sometime in high school, and that he'd been trying to bury that silly crush deep inside his being. But sometimes it was impossible for him, especially when he looked at you in the corridors looking so pretty, with that smile that drove him crazy.
The idea that someone knew how in love he was with you terrified him and in the panic of the moment, he understood that Max wasn't stupid. Any movement would simply give him away.
"And why would I say that?" he murmured, trying not to stutter, as he drummed his fingers on the bar.
"So you deny that it's true?" she responded nimbly, narrowing her eyebrows in his direction. Eddie was silent for a moment and shook his head.
“I don't know what you're talking about” he answered nervously and she laughed.
"Don't be a liar, I've seen how you look at her"
"What?" he half screeched "And how do I look at her?"
“With those goofy eyes of yours. And then your eyelashes flutter like you're a flirtatious schoolgirl”
"Shut up!" he laughed, nudging the redhead slightly. "That's not true."
“Of course it is, we all know that,” she exclaimed with amusement, but that made Eddie's heart clench a little.
"Are you serious?" he asked sadly. He didn't want you to think he was weird or depraved or anything like that and his friend finding out so quickly worried him.
“Well, by everyone I mean just Dustin and me. Maybe Robin and if she knows so does Steve, who probably told Nancy…”
"Okay, I got it, everyone knows I'm head over heels in love with Y/N."
"So you admit it?"
"Mayfield!" he complained, pouting. "Just forget it, it's stupid and she'd never pay attention to me." Eddie snorted, visibly sad.
“Oh, c’mon, don't be discouraged. I know you're not the best and you smell a little ugly but maybe she can get to like you” he tried to encourage him, but Eddie let out an offended laugh “Listen, we've rolled the dice so many times and it's never come up a 20, what could happen?” the younger murmured, holding out the dice to her friend. "Just do it, just like I ate that horrible thing you had in the fridge," she practically demanded.
Eddie sighed and took the dice in his hands to shake it a couple of times before throwing it on the table. One, two, three turns and he finally stopped.
20.
“It has to be a joke,” Eddie groaned, staring in disbelief at the result.
"Well, I guess it's fate, Munson," Max sneered. The boy was pale because he knew perfectly well that his friend wouldn’t forgive him for the dare.
“But how am I going to tell her? It's going to be super weird, she's going to freak out!" he muttered worriedly, unconsciously biting off a piece of his fingernail.
“Just call her and explain that you want to tell her something, and tell her. It’s not complicated”
“Easy for you to say,” he screeched. The two of them argued for a bit until Max practically forced him to comply, after all it had been his idea of the game in the first place.
“I don't know her phone number, to begin with.” He tried to excuse himself, but Max recited it from memory. Both your number and Steve's and of course her mother's were engraved in her brain for emergencies.
Eddie took a deep breath as he punched in the digits and with each passing second, he became more convinced that this was a terrible idea. But Max was right, he had to comply and he wasn't going to look stupid in front of a girl.
"Hello?" your soft voice asked. He jumped when he heard you and froze "Is anyone there?"
“Hello, Y/N”
"Eddie?" you murmured at his stutter "How did you get my number?" you said from the other side of the line. You sounded a little confused but the truth was that you were just curious. Eddie was a company you were enjoying a lot lately, always being goofy and pretty without even trying.
"Max…" he exclaimed, but his response sounded more like a question.
"What happened to her? She is fine?"
"Yes, she is wonderful" he continued, avoiding at all costs having to make his confession. But Maxine’s questioning look across the bar didn't help much. "But I asked her because… huh, well… I wanted to tell you something important."
“Oh, something important?” you asked and he nodded, wanting to punch himself realizing you couldn't see him. Max obviously laughed at this. "Sure, tell me," you exclaimed cheerfully, even if you hadn't received a verbal response. That was when Eddie felt his palms sweat and a knot form in his stomach. How could he say that he liked you? "Ed?"
"I'm here," he exclaimed shakily. Shit, he was just going to say it “I just wanted to tell you that I really like you… rrr hair”
Max looked at him in confusion and Eddie closed his eyes as he let his head fall back. He had chickened out at the last moment and just hoped he hadn't sounded too stupid, which he probably had.
“My hair?” you exclaimed, hearing yourself confused even through the phone.
“Hjm” he hummed “And I wanted to ask you what product you use because it always looks so soft and silky and I would love mine to look like that”
"Oh," you exhaled, still a little weirded out by things. That wasn’t the direction that Eddie would have wanted for the talk, but it would be necessary to improvise “I use a shampoo and a conditioner of the same brand, in addition to drying it after I shower. But my hair is a bit straighter than yours, pretty, that's why it looks like this."
"Super, you can tell me where you bought it later and I'll go get them" he mumbled, trying to ignore the fact that you had called him pretty "Thank you very much, Y/N"
“Did you call me in the middle of the night just to ask me what hair product I use?” you said amused, letting out a giggle that wasn't meant to be mocking. Eddie also laughed on the other end of the phone.
“I'm sorry, you know when I have something on my mind, I can't get it out of my head” he apologized. Max, who was witnessing everything, was looking at him with murderous eyes.
“Your curls are cute either way. I like them"
"Really?" he said, with one of the goofiest smiles.
"Yes. Even if you want…”
"Yeah?"
“There are some products to define curls and if you want to invest in something that would be a good option. I can accompany you one day”
"Please. I only know the 5-in-1 shampoo that my uncle buys” he confessed and you burst out laughing.
"You need urgent help then," I snorted, making him laugh softly. There was a short silence and although neither of you could see each other each had a loving smile.
"Thanks again. Have a good night"
"Rest, Eddie"
“You too,” he said, and even though he didn't want to do it he had to hang up. He didn't need more than a glance from his redheaded friend to start whimpering “I panicked! Okay? And technically I told her… in a roundabout way, but I did.”
“You’re a complete fool”
"Someday I'm going to tell her, don't push me" he snorted, walking to the couch and flopping down "Forget that stupid game, come and pick a movie, and don't say anything anymore" he groaned as he crossed his arms. Max just shook his head in amusement and did as he asked, not saying a word about it.
After all, she knew that, with a little effort, that boy could finally tell you how he felt about you. Someday he would.

CHAPTER I: “There I was again tonight”
Chapter’s playlist:
The night we met- Lord Huron
Enchanted- Taylor Swift
Chapter's T.W: Social drinking, mention to smoking, light reference to smut.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Y/N sat down at her vanity doing her makeup for tonight’s party, to which she had agreed to go just trying to share something with Lucas again. They had been together for almost 5 years now -living together for 3 out of those-, and even though nothing specific had happened, she could feel how the two of them had slowly drifted apart; that complicity and friendship once shared long lost and gone. The blonde looked at him through the reflection in the mirror as he walked around the room getting ready as well. All she knew was one of Lucas childhood friends was coming back home from Spain after filming a movie for over a year, you had never met him, as you hadn’t any of them in fact. Maybe that was one of the things that caused her to slowly pull away from him; it almost felt as if their relationship were some kind of secret he didn’t want seen by part of his world. She slept next to the man every night and yet felt so alone most of the time. “Are you almost ready?” he barked out at the girl “don’t wanna be late yet again because of you” you heard him say as he was already halfway down the hallway of the apartment the both of them shared.
“Coming” Y/N sighed softly, getting up after putting her boots on and taking one last look in the body length mirror in the master bedroom, she had decided to wear the outfit that was once Lucas’ favorite on you, still desperate to regain that spark that had long blown out- black leather pencil mini skirt, black crop top, beige overzised corderoy shirt and knee high black suede boots- although this time around, he didn’t even seem to notice. Hastily making her way to the door grabbing her purse going straight to the car as Lucas already waited there. On the way to the party Y/N glanced at him in more than one occasion  to see if he would look at her and bit the inside of her lip, seeing his eyes always glued to the road and so she grabbed her phone going through it. “Where are we going? what should I expect? who’s gonna be there?” the petite woman looked at Lucas once again seeing his eyes fall on her for a bit “can I at least know that?” he sighed and nodded.
“My childhood friends will be there, the party’s for my friend Esteban, you know he just came home after spending over a year in Spain shooting some film, as to who’ll be there, that you know, Amelia will surely be.” Lucas stated matter of factly and a smile spread across the girl's face knowing his sister would be at the party, they got along quite well. After all, being an only child, Y/N liked having a sisterlike figure in her life.  Y/N picked up her phone texting Amelia. “Meme! I just heard you’ll be at the party, please tell me you are in the mood for drinks, I know no one but you and your brother there, you know how I get 🥺” she smiled seeing the typing immediately coming onto the screen. “Y/N/N my babe! OF COURSE I’M UP FOR SOME DRINKS! who you think you talking to? oh you’ll love the guys, don’t worry”  the smile stayed on as she read her friend's text. When the car finally haltered to a stop, she grabbed her purse and walked out waiting for Lucas, to walk in with him by her side. As soon as the pair crossed the door into the house Amelia jumped at Y/N engulfing her in a tight hug.
“Com’ere babe, let’s ditch my boring bro, I’ll introduce you to the gang” she linked their arms together walking over. Amelia and Y/N were a few years younger than Lucas, both of them shy of 25 and him and presumably his friends all around their 30s, yet she had always- much to Lucas demise- tagged along with the group. As the girls approached a group of guys all chatting away, beers in hand; Y/N's eyes felt immediately drawn to one of them in particular, messy light brown hair, sweet looking face, big brown eyes and a shaggy beard that looked like it kinda didn’t belong on there. When she looked his way, he was already intently looking at her, as if he were trying to take a glance into her soul, something about him made Y/N's insides flutter, like a million butterflies had erupted in her gut. She could kinda hear Amelia going around the group making introductions and had to remind herself to smile and greet them as she said their names, trying not to come off as rude, she finally looked at her firend “and this is Esteban, no one calls him that though, well…only his mom when she's mad at him” she chuckled. “Kuku” he interceded “everyone calls me kuku” he shot a glance at his friend that read I’m gonna kill you before turning back to the new addition to the conversation with the sweetest smile you had ever seen a grown man produce. Y/N reciprocated the gesture, not being able to stop it even if she had wanted to, with a quirked brow at the strange nickname, taking a mental note as to ask about it later on.
“Y/N, everyone calls me Y/N/N tho, nice to meet you all” the smaller girl forced herself to take her eyes away from Kuku and look at the rest “I’m Lucas’ girlfriend” she smiled softly, stating the so called title more out of duty than pleasure. Out of the corner of her eye she caught what thought was the wavy haired man slightly drop his smile. “I think I’ll go grab myself a drink” she stated before walking away to the table where all the bottles and drinks were.
Kuku’s POV
He had missed being around his friends so much that when Amelia proposed throwing him a welcome home get together, and said she would be in charge of inviting the gang if he invited his cast friends, Kuku thought it was a brilliant idea. They had both decided to do it at his parents place, they weren’t in town that weekend, so that was fine, and it was bigger than the two bedroom apartment he owned, also, for old times sake -parties were always at his parents place-. As they both got the place ready the eldest looked at Amelia “What do you mean Lucas’ girlfriend is coming? he has a girlfriend now? is this new?” he chuckled as he had no idea his friend was seeing someone. Lucas could be quite reserved when it came to his private life, he had learnt to accept that in the over twenty years of friendship they shared.
“Oh, this isn’t new boo, they’ve been together for 5 years-ish I think, they live together” Amelia looked up from the red solo cups she was placing on the table by the wall, “he hasn’t told you guys? he can be a turd sometimes, I swear… he’s lucky that Y/N even agreed to go out with him back then, and that she’s still next to him”. She rolled her eyes, as much as she loved her brother, she knew he was an idiot most of the times. “She’s waayy too out of his league if you ask me..she’s my age, dirty blonde hair, stunning body, sharp witty mind, gorgeous face, she’s an artist too, she’s a photographer, you tell me what she’s doing with someone as boring as Lucas, deadass serious lawyer, always doing what he must” she rolled her eyes huffing. Kuku laughed shaking his head softly in amusement.
But Amelia’s description did Y/N no justice if he was being honest; from the moment she walked into that room half a step behind Lucas, he could see her-only her- it was as if the rest of the people in the room had disappeared from the face of the earth. The woman was absolutely breathtaking, the petite frame half hiding behind his friend, looking down at the floor, he could tell she was nervous. And when Amelia brought her friend over to introduce them to her, and he got a glimpse of those hazel eyes, that looked like the most exquisit honey he knew, he was fucked, she smelled like a mixture of coconut an vanilla, absolutely intoxicating. He was lost in the youngest's face, so much so that he hadn’t even heard Amelia making introductions and cleared his throat gently when he heard his name being spoken. “Kuku” he could just get out “everyone calls me kuku” and by the look on Y/N’s face, she thought it was a strange nickname to say the least. He couldn’t blame her tho, if you didn’t know where it came from. When she walked away he just kept his eyes glued to her, he just hoped  he was being sneakier than he thought he was, it was his friend’s girlfriend after all.
~~~~~
Y/N made her way to the drinks table, completely aware of the guy’s eyes stuck to her back and she couldn’t help but like the newfound attention for a change, plus, he was really hot, she had to admit that much. The girl made herself a drink before walking around the place taking a look at it and making her way outside seeing Amelia out at the backyard. Y/N took  a sip of the drink in her hand and came up to her friend, “so…those are the childhood friends huh?” an innocent smile on her lips, not wanting to let it be known that she couldn’t care less about all but one of them, the relationship might be as good as dead, but they were still technically together and she wasn't one to disrespect the vow that it implied.
As the night went on, Y/N found herself naturally falling into the groups where Kuku was more than once; conversation just flowed so naturally between the two, it was easy, fun, it made her feel less anxious being around him. Even if she had just met him a few hours ago, and maybe giving its due credit to the alcohol running in their bloodstream, but it was familiar. “so…Kuku, where does it come from? it’s quite an unusual nickname if do say so myself, and they called me bubbles when I was little” the blonde chuckled sitting at a bench out on the yard with him, they had ended up alone not long ago while he joined her as she had a smoke.
Esteban chuckled running his hand through his unruly hair looking at the girl, and there it was again, that spark of electricity in the air between them that Y/N had felt earlier when shecame into the house “it’s short for Kukuriczka, my last name, teachers would always mispronounce it and kinda repeated themselves on the first bit, and so Lucas started calling me that and it stuck” he shrugged his shoulders lightly. Mentioning him in that conversion felt wrong, not that the two were doing anything bad, but it just felt that way. Shelet out a small laugh at the story of the birth of his nickname, finding it quite endearing. When he heard the girl's laugh, melodious and unique he had to hold himself back from kissing her, it had been tugging at the edges of his mind all night, the way she licked her lips before she spoke; or how she bit at her lower lip when she started feeling anxious, and now, the way those plump rosy lips curled around the cigarette as she smoked, he could only think of how they would look curled around other things; and each time one of those dark thoughts came across his mind, he had to remind himself she was his best friend’s girlfriend, and it was utterly and completely wrong to be thinking what he was.
As the night came to an end, and Y/N were to leave with Lucas, saying their goodbyes to the group and Kuku, he stopped her, gently placing one of his hands on the girl's arm; “Y/N, could I have your number? I’ve been kinda getting into photography myself lately, and I would like to pick your brain some more about it” he smiled as she nodded holding her hand out for his phone so that she could add her contact in it for him. Y/N could feel Lucas’ glare stuck to the back of her neck, not that she cared all that much about it now, any excuse to get to see the chocolate eyed man again was good enough. As she walked back to the car, she could feel it in her gut, this wasn’t going to end up well, the chemistry was palpable in the air with kuku, and he made Y/N feel seen for the first time in what felt like forever. This was either going to be the change her life needed, or the end of the world as she knew it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

10 things I Hate About You pt.2 (Jack Hughes X Reader)
Tumblr media
‘I hate the way you drive my car...’
Bianca got up with a start looking at her father offended.
“But she’s a mutant! What if she never dates!”
“Then you’ll never date, ooh I like the sound of that,” her dad says smirking as he rubs his hands together before continuing,
“And I get to sleep at night, the deep slumber of a father whose daughters aren’t being impregnated!” he said facing Bianca before his very out-dated pager beeps notifying him that he had an emergency call at work, he points at Y/N and quickly says
“We will talk about Sarah Lawrence later!” he says as he walks out the front door
“Fine.” Y/N replies going up the stairs to finish her book without having to be annoyed by Bianca.
Bianca’s nostrils flare as she rushes towards the end of the stairs looking up at Y/N
“Can’t you find some blind, deaf guy to take you out so I can have one date!” Bianca shouts
“Sorry Bianca you’ll just have to miss out on the witty repartee of Trevor ‘eat me’ Zegras.”
“You suck!” Bianca says walking away
“You suck!” Y/N mocks back walking up the rest of the stairs.
Luke waited in the library for Bianca, he had learned French and found time in between hockey to be able to teach her French, something Quinn thought he was an idiot for.
Bianca storms in, Luke thought she looked gorgeous. Bianca had her long black hair in a ponytail and a red headband to hold back any falling pieces. She was wearing a red long sleeved crop top with a floral skirt and tiny red heels. Luke’s throat went dry as he opened the book, his hands shaking.
Bianca rushes towards Luke, being almost a foot shorter than him and that makes Luke go wild, he just stares at her before Bianca speaks “Can we make this quick? Troy and Dani are having an incredibly horrendous public breakup in the parking lot, again!” she said, smiling up at him.
His cheeks turned red “Well, uh I thought we would start with pronunciation?”
“Not the gagging, hacking and spitting part please.” she said folding her arms over her chest
“There is an alternative, French food, with me, this saturday.”
“You’re asking me out?” she said her red lips growing into a smile
“That’s so cute? What’s your name again!” she said, making luke embarrassed.
“Luke Hughes. Listen, I know your dad doesn’t let you date, but I thought that if it was for French class he would,-” he said before Bianca spoke again.
“Oh wait a minute, Lyle..”
“Luke.”
“My dad came up with a new rule, I can date when my sister does.” she said before Luke cheers
“Really? Do you like beach houses because me and my brothers have a beach house and-”
“A small problem Luca, In case you haven’t heard, my sister is a hideous breed of loser.”
“Y-yeah I noticed she is a little antisocial…Why is she like that anyway?” Luke asked leaning closer to Bianca
“She used to be really popular, but she got sick of it or something. So then she became some moody indie rock loser.” Bianca replies as she makes a smug face at the talk of her ‘bitch’ sister.
“Yeah..but I am sure there are many men who wouldn’t mind going out with a difficult woman…like…Extreme dating!”
“You think you could find someone that extreme, and you’d do that for me?” Bianca replied holding his hand
“Hell yes! I mean…yes.” Luke said before shrinking down in his seat. Luke’s mind immediately went to his older brother…Jack Hughes.
Luke and Quinn saw their brother at hockey practice at around 2pm, Luke had already told Quinn and decided what was going to happen. He was pushing people into walls and gliding the puck into the net with such ease and then doing a very cocky celly, the rest of his teammates looking at him with fear.
“Hey brother, what’s up my man…” Luke said as he approached
“Yes, Luke? Is there something you need?” Jack said as he went to sit on the bench taking off his skates as his brother talked to him with his gear still on.
“Can you maybe take out this girl, Y/N, you’re the only one I know who could handle her-” He tried to say before being interrupted
“No way Luke, I am not taking out some chick, for your benefit.” he said as he walked to the locker room, not even glancing at his brother before taking off his jersey while walking into the locker room showing his toned back and his chest guard.
“God, of course he said no.” Luke said as he got on the bench as he took off his skates while Quinn skated off the ice and sat next to him.
“What we need…is a backer…someone who could convince Jack…” Quinn says before looking at Trevor and immediately knowing who his target was.
“Hey Trevor…” Quinn said as he skated towards Trevor. Trevor gave him a look.
“What’s up Hughesy, what do you need?” Trevor said as he skated around the ice rink.
“I need you to ask Jack to date Y/N L/N. Now here me out, all you have to do is pay him, and you may score a date with Bianca…” Quinn said desperate to help his little brother out.
“Fine, Bianca sounds nice…Ok I’ll do it, you owe me.” Trevor said before skating off the rink and going towards the locker room and approaching Jack.
“Hey Jack…buddy…Wanna go out with Y/N L/N for a couple bucks?” Trevor asked Jack as Jack stripped down to his boxers grabbing his regular clothes which consisted of a white t-shirt and blue swimming shorts. Jack gave him a confused expression.
“Why does everyone want me to go out with this chick? She got brownie flavored nipples or something?” Jack asked while taking out his vape and taking a hit.
“It may have something to do with her younger sister…Bianca L/N…But I’ll pay you 50 bucks a date.” Trevor said as he smiled
Jack didn’t even care, money is what caught his attention, he couldn’t get a job because he was too focused on hockey, so getting money for taking out a girl, a girl he thought was kind of pretty, it was perfect.
“Fine, I’ll do it, but I want the money in advance. Now I’m gonna go try to ask this girl out while you sit here in uniform.” Jack said before taking another hit and walking out of the locker room with a mission on his mind.
“Hey girly.” Jack said as he approached Y/N who was at her locker grabbing her books for psych.
She looks towards him with an amused smile. She was wearing a white long sleeve top, a long blue skirt and black chunky sandals, her h/l h/c hair was let down with half of it up.
“Why hello?” she said looking at him with a slight smirk
“What are you doing pretty girl?” Jack said as he looked at her
“Trying to grab my notebook for psych as a certain white boy is pestering me.” she said as she finds her book and slams her locker closed
“Mm I wonder who that boy is.” Jack said as he smirked at her “Do you maybe wanna go out sometime?” he asked, using his charming white smile to grab her attention. “I’ll give you a hint.” she says as she pulls open her locker revealing a mirror and pointing it at Jack. Jack looks at her with a shocked but amused face..now this girl has caught his attention, he is still in it for the bet, but Y/N…she was starting to make this a bit more fun and exciting for him.
