so a character connected to death huh.... as you know he's been on my mind a lot lately. i was originally going to do xiao, who i may still make an edit for on this theme just for fun! but after finishing the sumeru archon quest and just everything ever the past few weeks or so, dear lord. it's so hard to do anything that's not scara for this.

scara is someone who's been cast aside and disregarded for pretty much his entire life. whether it was ei discarding him and deeming him weak, people fearing him and ostracizing him, or even mortals succuming to their mortality around him, he's never been able to find real solace in anyone, anywhere, anything.

in a way, he's not so centered around death, but an idea of rebirth, but to be reborn you first have to die or be destroyed one way or another, so i think he counts well enough. if not, just look to the death he's witnessed around him or left in his own wake, the mortals around him who have "died" and abandoned him, the death of his own humanity and emotion as he vowed to shed any traces of them, the death that he even onced longed for and his wish to have never been born at all, or even the "death" of his name and history from irminsul.

i've not gotten to play inversion of genesis yet but i trust you fully when you say it's going to fuck me up so bad. but i know that when you look at it, "scaramouche" "kabukimono" and "kunikuzushi" are all identities that have "died". i know that eventually, he's able to start to let go of all the pain, hurt, violence, anger, and trauma connected to these names as he assumes the new role of the wanderer. he's able to shed the burdens of his past and no longer be defined by it, and is instead given a chance to start fresh, to learn better, and to be good.

in this way, his story is one of not just death, but rebirth and redemption. kunikuzushi, kabukimono, scaramouche, and all of these titles he's gone by in his hundreds of years in teyvat have all died, so that way he, as the wanderer, can live fresh and start new.

Misc:

First, I believe my name was Natoru (Japanese name meaning bird).

I am not cannon-compliant, but I follow most of the cannon.

I have no memories of Scaramouche, or being with the Fatui, only as Kabukimono, Kunikuzushi and Wanderer.

General appearance:

Skin toned puppet (or ball-jointed dolls) joints

My hair is more purple than the in-game model, and I also had Kitsune ears- the same pose/position as Yae Miko’s (inner ears were white and light pink).

I had scars from the wires connecting me to Shouki No Kami

I also had small cracks in my ‘skin’, I don’t remember if they were fixed or not, likely not.

General memories:

As Kabukimono- I was taught to fight with a blade by Niwa and the others (I cant remember who exactly).

Nameless/Kabukimono:

I forged my sword during my time wandering.

I used to stay under trees and watch the rain in Inazuma.

I never had a name while wandering, giving me the nickname of Nameless (this was before I even met the sick kid).

I The sword I had got destroyed after the sick kid died- may be when I became Scaramouche.

Wanderer:

Traveler never revealed his true name, and he never had a nickname that he was called.

I was forced to go with traveler to find the rest of the Aranaras and clear corrupted zones.

I usually had to sleep, despite not needing to. If I couldn’t sleep that night, Nahida would usually put me in either a dreamless sleep or a dream with her in it (unwanted therapy season lmao).

Others:

Nahida had round glasses and was just slightly taller than the in-game model.

Traveler was Aether, I believe we were either in a queerplatonic relationship, or we were dating, I'm still not sure.

I had a Fontainian pet bird named Kane given to me by the Traveler. Said bird is a fucking idiot (possibly one of the gulls? I’m not sure)

Having (probably stupid) thoughts on Húrin and Aerin parallels (a rare post where it’s mostly in the tags because I’m unsure if it means anything yet)

I noticed your hair seemed to be shorter, if it brings you comfort-- cutting hair mostly represents an end to a chapter, cutting bad memories or simply change, so hang in there! :)

Only until summer break I fixed to cut the rest completely. I felt more than comfortable and dyed it with my favorite color! And you are completely right about those analogies, because since then - I've been back on track to improving and putting myself out of my comfort zone.

being an Artemis Fowl fan since 2022, and disappointed about the movie, i was so delighted when i found out about Number Five from Umbrella Academy, who has a very similar personality to Artemis.

i started watching Umbrella Academy just yesterday evening and Five is obviously now my favourite character… three years too late, though, hehe

if you enjoy one of the shows/books but haven’t heard about the other, i highly recommend doing so! look below for a quick almost spoiler-free synopsis on both!

Artemis Fowl is a 13 year old criminal mastermind. Yes, you heard me right. He has an IQ above 200, but follows in the footsteps of his father by getting money on the wrong side of the law. ‘Aurum est potestas’ (Gold is Power) is his motto. He decides to dabble in the stealing of fairy gold one day, and though things don’t go wholly his way, he’s not disappointed by his haul. READ THE BOOK SERIES NOW-

The Umbrella Academy is a group of children born at exactly the same date and time, and bought by an old guy called Mr. Hargreeves. These seven children all have magical powers that allow them to fight bad guys. Mr. Hargreeves, their ‘father’, gave them all numbers from one to seven, and got their ‘mother’ to give the children real names. Two of the seven children are now gone��Ben Hargreeves passed at a young age, and Five Hargreeves/Number Five (I think he’s unnamed, but idk I only watched the first 3 episodes so far) went missing after an argument with his ‘father’ about the former wanting to time travel. Five later comes back (obviously, what else would happen?), and is apparently 58 years old stuck in the body of a 13 year old. (Time travel. Don’t question it.) He’s now a little shit to the rest of his siblings, but that’s kind of reasonable because the apocalypse is coming and ‘wE dOn’T hAvE tImE fOr ThIs!’.
