Season 7 should just fully ignore Eddie and Buck's respective love lives for the first 8-9 episodes. Let the show should focus on the other main characters and give them major story lines since 6b was very Buck centered (rightfully so the man died).
I want- no I need - to see Hen and Karen learning to balance being mothers to a newborn baby and a pre-teen and working. Let us see them figuring that out and supporting each other.
I also want to see Bobby and Athena back from their honeymoon and glowing and realizing that there's so much more to life than their jobs. It would be very fun to see them start talking about retirement with other people and seeing how the other characters react.
We need a Ravi story line too! Ravi begins??? We could use a Ravi begins. Let us see Ravi's backstory and his childhood in and out of hospitals. Let us see his family react to him becoming a firefighter.
Maddie and Chim are obviously planning their wedding, but I also want to see Maddie at the call center stepping up and maybe training to be the next Sue? Or even better, maybe Maddie thinks about getting back into nursing.
And Chim's story should be about how he's finally got the family and home he's always dreamed about and he doesn't know what comes next. Give us Hen and Chim bonding about feeling like you're waiting for the other shoe to drop when things are going too well in their personal lives.
Eddie should have a story line outside of his love life and outside of being a dad. He's been so defined by fatherhood, firefighting, and being a widower, he needs something in his life that's just for him. Maybe Eddie has a bit of a mini breakdown about Chris growing up and we see him spending time with each of the other characters trying to figure out who Eddie is. We hear a bit about him and Buck without Chris trying different hobbies together while Chris is at sleepovers and being a 12/13 year old.
Our main lens to Buck's personal life should be through him helping Maddie and Chim plan the wedding (clipboard Buck please and thank you!), through seeing him with the Diaz boys doing domestic stuff like making dinner and game nights, and hanging out with Eddie. We never SEE Buck and Eddie hanging out alone, but we hear them talking about it.
THEN in episode 9 or 10 we should see everyone getting their invites to Maddie and Chim's wedding and both Buck and Eddie RSVP 'plus one' except we haven't seen them with a girlfriend all season?? What the fuck is up with that??
Only for them to show up to the wedding together. And the audience thinks it's because Buck is Maddie's Man of Honour and Eddie is one of Chim's groomsmen. But then we get a shot of Eddie helping Buck with his tie or something and then after he pulls him into a kiss. And it's clearly not a first kiss, it's a gently peck like they've been doing it for months.
AND THEN after the wedding we get an episode that's the missing Buck and Eddie scenes from the season. We always heard about them but it wasn't ever shown. And it turns out all those little adventures were dates and they've been dating for months without telling anyone.

I find it super ironic that Cyclonus has this highly romanticized, propagandic view of the Decepticons, because like:
This is him 🔽
Tumblr media
And this is also him 🔽
Tumblr media
Dude you yourself was a member of the ruling elite of the old order. Even if what you said about the Decepticons were all true, you're a big part of why people needed to be emancipated in the first place.
He was part of Nova Prime's inner cadre during a time when bigotry and oppression was even more predominant. Nova. who's literally the founder of functionism, which flourished and peaked under the so-called Golden Age of his rule. And Galvatron's... Galvatron, I don't even want to talk about him everyone knows what he's like. But Cyclonus was somehow fine with being yes-man to both?
The way he spoke about the Decepticons, it sounded as if he's this super dedicated sjw filled with righteous passion about stuff like liberation and revolution and emancipation and 'the people', when in truth it's shown that he'd never cared about any of those things before that point.
Nova Prime's ideology was literally this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Cyclonus didn't have a problem with it during his entire life before the Ark, compared to more decent people like Dai Atlas and Omega Supreme who eventually clashed with their group and got kicked off the Ark b/c they couldn't stand Nova and co.'s lack of a bottom line and misuse of the word freedom.
As a matter of fact Cyclonus still believed in Nova Prime after he became Nemesis - not that he was much of a better person as Nova. Where's his sense of justice against corruption? Nova got turned into a literal demon, surely it's hard to get more corrupted than that. But his only complaint wasn't about what Nova/Nemesis was trying to do, it's about the process being too much of a damn ordeal.
Tumblr media
He's super excited over the anticipation of murder and has no scruples whatsoever about killing non-combatants. The same thing happened again at Kimia.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He finally grew enough of a conscience to break off from Galvatron in the end but notice his wording. It's not 'you forced me to hurt people', it's 'you forced me to hurt Cybertron'. He even said Cybertron twice for emphasis.
Tumblr media
It's not mind control, he just thinks like that. The guy's obsessed with Cybertron - with what Cybertron once was. The Cybertron he lived in. Nova Prime's Cybertron. The Golden Age. He's shown to repeatedly lament over it in his internal monologues.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's all about the loss of his 'perfect world.' The infrastructure. the scenery. the Tetrahexian real estate lmao. How about let's feel some sadness for the billions of Cybertronians who once lived on it? When did he ever spare a thought for all the people who died?
Tumblr media
The Decepticons worked so hard to destroy this. It's a gilded carcass rotting from the inside. It eats people alive. The rot was already there in his own time. He was complacent in putting it there. But he only had eyes for the beauty and nolstalgia.
In the first panel he lauded the Decepticons for wanting radical change. Well he himself seemed to be dead set against change judging by the way he kept wanting things to go back the way they were 8 million years ago.
Back in the Golden Age he would not have looked twice at a bot like Tailgate. He was part of the people who didn't give a shit about the disappearance of one waste disposal bot. He still wouldn't have given a shit if circumstances hadn't forced them together over and over again.
Looks to me he's enarmored with the grandness of the concepts of liberation and revolution and emancipation for 'the people' in the Decepticons' (theoretical) ideology. The concepts of fighting against corruption and bringing down the old order. Just like how he bought into the concepts of Nova's 'spreading freedom to the galaxy' and the glittering prosperity of the 'Golden Age.' Does he know that the Decepticon ideology is a twisted lie built on terror and massacres and genocide and despotism? Does he know that Nova's idea of spreading freedom and enlightenment is galactical conquest and his beloved Golden Age is built upon a foundation of misery and suffering and systematic subjugation? Of course he knows he's not stupid. He's nose-deep in it, it's virtually impossible not to. But he's able to willfully ignore those ugly truths as well as his role in them by only engaging in shallow romanticism through rose-coloured lens and refusing to delve deeper.
It's either that or imperalist mindset and the endorsement of violence and casual murder resonates hard.

Every reference I could find to Fitz's love of monkeys in Marvel's Agents of Shield, organized by episode numbers
According to this article, Fitz's love for monkeys comes from Iain de Caestecker's love for monkeys. The actor joked in season one about wanting a monkey sidekick for Fitz and it made it into the show's story. Fitz even has monkey figurines on his desk in early seasons.
season 1 episode 2:
FITZ: “I would love to see a capuchin in the wild. Maybe even a yellow-tailed woolly monkey. You know, um, Peru has 32 different species of monkey.”
season 1 episode 3:
FITZ: “If we had a monkey, we could get in.” SIMMONS: “Ugh, Fitz!” FITZ: “If we had a small monkey, he could slip through the sensors and disable the fence's power source with his adorable little hands.”
and
FITZ: “Did you hear the deadly lasers part? Without a brave monkey—”
season 1 episode 8:
FITZ: “Still, this is definitely the type of work a monkey could easily do.” WARD: “You're our little monkey.”
season 1 episode 16:
MAY: “What's this?" FITZ: "Um, say you need to tag a fleeing vehicle... or a wild monkey, if it was to get away from you.”
season 1 episode 22:
SIMMONS: “That means that every bit of energy inside us, every particle" *breathes deeply* "will go on to be a part of something else, maybe live as a dragonfish, a microbe, maybe burn in a supernova 10 billion years from now. And every part of us now was once a part of some other thing ... a moon, a storm cloud, a mammoth.” FITZ, softly: “A monkey.” SIMMONS, also softly, accepting: “A monkey.”
season 2 episode 14:
Daisy: "Okay. But why am I suddenly feeling like old yeller right now?" Coulson: "Kind of surprised you know the reference." Daisy: "I've had a lot of downtime lately. That and Fitz really wants a dog." Coulson: "Thought he wanted a monkey." Daisy: "Guess he readjusted his expectations."
season 2 episode 16:
*When Fitz is packing up his stuff to leave, his three-monkeys statue is the first thing he's seen grabbing*
season 3 episode 21:
*When Fitz is getting ready for the broadcast with Talbot, he's making monkey noises as his vocals warm-up*
season 4 episode 3:
FITZ (counting his breath): “One chimpanzee, two chimpanzee. One chimpanzee, two chimpanzee.”
season 5 episode 5:
*Fitz is shown drawing monkeys on his cell's wall as a way to mark the passing of time while being there, instead of the regular line-markings that are usually used for that*
season 5 episode 16 (as Bobo is a common monkey name):
Jemma: "I was hoping you could tell me more about our future." Deke: "I mean, you saw it... It sucked." Jemma: "No, I mean Fitz and me. Do you recall any evidence of major injury, any noticeable scarring, perhaps?" Deke: "I don't remember you guys at all. I didn't even know your real names. Everyone in S.H.I.E.L.D. changed them when they were getting hunted down. I just knew you as Nana and Bobo."
season 5 episode 21:
*when Simmons is packing up Fitz's things into the suitcase, his monkey statue from the earlier seasons can be seen among the things already in the suitcase*
season 6 episode 3:
SIMMONS: “Expecto Patronum! [a small hallucination of Fitz in a monkey suit appears on her straw] Hello, little monkey Fitz.”
season 6 episode 6:
*while in the memory of the night they first became friends, after Simmons tells Fitz she also remembers "how manic you were and thinking that genius is just a tick away from madness", the wall is seen suddenly covered in drawings of monkeys in the same way Fitz did to the wall in his cell in season 5 episode 5*
season 6 episode 8:
SIMMONS (about the events of s6ep3): "I saw you in a monkey outfit dancing." FITZ: "No, no, reverse on that bit, what do you mean you saw me in a monkey outfit dancing?"
season 7 episode 13:
*When Alya gets up from her bed in the pod to hug her mom, a few monkey dolls can be seen at the edge of her bed*
and
FITZ (about Alya): “This little monkey is punching me as hard as she can in the leg.”

I'll be storing all of my glacio headcanon/info dumps here
post will consistently update
Ship: Gale Dekarios x Marcio Leles (Tav) Ship Name: Glacio Name Origin:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Headcanons
[1]
Gale will read aloud or info dump to Marcio to help him fall sleep (or if he notices Marcio is having a fit in his sleep). Sometimes, Gale does this without even realizing it, because he sleep talks. It makes Marcio feel safe <3
Reasoning:
Tav has been shown to consistently get little good sleep—if they get any, that is—thanks to bad dreams or restlessness.
Gale canonically talks in his sleep.
[2]
In the chronicles timeline, Gale is around 26. Marcio is 30. The reasonings below were presented when I was doing some Sword Coast research.
Reasoning:
Tw/ implied grooming for this one
Gale was scouted out at 8 by Elminster.
There was a lot of weird timeline stuff regarding when Mystra was reformed—leaving Gale anywhere between 25-35 years old. Some theorize he’s a similar age to Elminster, but Morena is still alive, so I highly doubt it.
Gale mentioned that he was a child prodigy when Mystra. The word revealed was the biggest red flag, and I immediately looked up if Gale was implied to be groomed.
I found this post and it made me disgusted in Mystra forever:
Tumblr media
On a more light-hearted note, I saw a headcanon that looks older than his 20s due to the orb draining his life force. I liked that! So, it's canon in the Tav Marcio Chronicles.
[3] Tieflings sometimes have animal-like behavior due to their devil bloodline. I'll make a guide to how I interpret tielfing tail language in the future.
I mostly associate Marcio with cat behavior thanks to my roommate's comments when I told her tielfings are implied to have no control over their tail movement. Marcio's tail might lift or wag when happy, he purrs or chirps, he has a tendency to curl up when sleeping, etc.
[4] Gale was born a sorcerer.
Reasoning:
His charisma starts off decently high.
Gale says he's been able to do magic for as long as he can remember.
I've seen some compare his fireball at age 8 to a Storm Sorcerer, which checks. He knew how to speak Ignan (Primordial), an ability a Lvl 1 sorcerer gets.
I found this book in the Goblin Camp, Magic of the Weave - An Introduction:
So, this means that Gale probably just prefers to call himself Wizard based off of this standard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mystra says all of his power was taken from him by the Karsite Weave. She also compares the power to a storm right before hand. Interesting...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Info Dumping
[1]
Tiefling’s tail movement is implied to be involuntary (you aren’t allowed to try and stop moving it when your tail movement scares the wolf in the Druid Grove).
My friend compared it to a cat’s tail movement, and now that’s canon in my mind—tielfings having shared behavior with cats. This includes purring, which I think is fitting for Gale—to fall in love with a Marcio who can purr.
Marcio is also a Mephistopheles Tiefling, meaning he has an affinity to magic. I think it would be funny for that to be a sense of “love at first sight” for Gale, possibly just sensing the magic radiating off of Marcio.
For Marcio, it was just that Clone High meme: “I like your funny works magic man.” 💕
[2]
It’s a little poetic that Marcio is a Mephistopheles tielfing trying to keep Gale away from the Crown’s corruption, and Mephistopheles is the devil that kept the Crown from Raphael.
[3]
I broadcast my gameplay on the living room TV for my roommates to watch. Recently, one of them saw that Marcio carried a little bag of magical items—his reasoning being, “just in case Mystra takes away his ability to control the orb”. My friend said it was Marcio carrying period products for his boyfriend, just in case.
So, trans Gale valid and you might see it from time to time! 🏳️‍⚧️
✨ I've decided that Gale, in the Tav Marcio Chronicles, is cis, though. Marcio, on the other hand, is trans.
[4]
Marcio’s eyes remind Gale of the weave sometimes. They also glow in the dark, which is terrifying to wake up to sometimes.

El's protectiveness and friendships in the lab
wanted to take a minute to appreciate that El's protectiveness isn't a character trait that only emerges post-lab. she's always been that way [assuming, for this post, that NINA stuff more or less happened]; it just couldn't always present in a way that looks badass on a poster.
El and Eighteen
only crumbs here, but if I have to point out a lab kid that El is friendlier with than the others, it's Eighteen.
Tumblr media
El holding Eighteen's hand is the only affectionate act I've ever noticed between any of the lab kids, and offering that comfort to her littlest sister is probably as "protective" as El can afford to be (esp as an eight year old with the least power and social standing of anyone).
when the kids in general laugh at El for failing at the light game, Eighteen is not one of the kids shown doing so.
Eighteen is the first dead child El is shown to be upset about. it's not that she looks more distressed about her than the others, but it's odd that she saw Ten dead on the floor next to Brenner a second before this and didn't really react. (maybe she couldn't tell Ten was dead from the doorway? idk)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
maybe an El/Eighteen friendship is cornplating or whatever the youths are calling it, but bearing in mind that we're never actually told that El/Eight had some super close friendship, maybe theirs looked something like this.
side note - are friendships even permitted in the lab?
letting the kids form friendships could be dangerous, as Brenner, couldn't it? risks them forming alliances against you? this is why I was asking the other day if socializing seems discouraged in the RR. like, even the bullies, who were "friends," never chatted openly in there unless the cameras were off. maybe any lab friendships have to be hush hush by nature.
anyway idk there's just something about us going "🤯 same numbers!!!" upon seeing the 001 / 011 tattoos, and then 008 + 018 being the only other kids El is hinted at being friendly with... why are we reusing the same pattern? 001 / 008 / 011 / 018 just happen to be every combination of those three numbers within the number of available children.
especially with El "being 8" (as in, years old) at this time. it's giving Henry, 12 / mother of 5. idk where I'm going with that but I'm squinting. Eighteen, you're not some bizarro Little Eight who has an inverted friendship with Big El, right?
El lashing out in the lab
we're shown repeatedly that El hates seeing people get hurt, but multiple times onscreen (and you know innumerable times off) she witnesses severe abuse to her siblings, and we never see her act in their defense like post-lab El would. of course, that's because she realistically can't. we know trying to help anyone in the lab accomplishes little except getting both people in trouble. but I was thinking about how we DO see El lash out for her own sake in 1983. so what's the takeaway? El cares more about protecting herself than others? nah. let's look at the other guard killing scene (again. assuming this really happened):
Tumblr media
when similarly cornered in 1979, El's immediate response is silent surrender.
why is her behavior so different? because she's weak? too scared / well controlled? too nice to kill? all those factors have already been established as non-issues in this moment. (she does have her powers here; the circle game proved that Brenner can't control El and knows it; killing when cornered is canonically within her nature)
you might think having a staff member on her side would make her more defiant, but instead she's more compliant here than in '83 (either time. even in the non-guard-killing flashback, El screams and struggles the whole way.)
El and One
he's the difference. she doesn't know he's her brother or has powers yet, but he has presented himself as a fellow prisoner rather than someone in a position of authority. she's also already seen him get punished because of her.
as far as El knows right here, if she lashes out - whether she then escapes successfully or not - she'd be bringing SEVERE punishment onto a nice guy who can't defend himself or escape.
she has a chance at freedom, the power to kill, and the escape route all planned out, but she doesn't do it. the thing that's not in her nature is abandoning a friend to God-knows-what punishment on her behalf.
so while One killing the guards is an act of protection to El, it's also a massive act of protection to One that El is ready to throw out the whole plan right here. don't miss it just because it's not the classic El-screamy-hand thing.
she's sacrificing her chance at freedom in hopes of slightly mitigating his punishment. (they're both doomed to very bad punishment upon capture right here, but if she escapes I think he'd get punished even worse. so she's choosing to share in pretty bad punishment over him being punished extremely severely and her not at all.)
even aside from punishment, she knows she'll be returning to an even worse home life than the one she believed necessitated her immediate escape (Brenner apparently arranging for her to be killed).
Tumblr media
so here, can she afford to act out not only because she's acting alone, but because she's an only child, so to speak? there's no one else who could potentially suffer as a result of her actions. no other siblings to use as leverage. no one to protect.
whatever consequences Brenner carried El off to after killing those orderlies, she bore it alone.
I can sorta read this as protective of the other kids in general - not that she did it, but that she didn't until now.
am I saying Brenner might have randomly punished other kids as a result of something El did?
have you met the guy? definitely would've threatened it, might've actually done it. manipulation by whatever means necessary.
when you work in a building full of superpowered people who hate you, you gotta control them psychologically, because physical control isn't something you can maintain for long. it's imperative that they're more afraid of the consequences of kicking your ass than they are of whatever torture you're putting them through. emotional manipulation using friends and innocents as pawns is a classic move. (another reason the kids might want to keep lab friendships secret even if they're allowed.)
Tumblr media
that's not theory - we've seen Brenner use this tactic onscreen, telling El that he'll have Owens killed if she tries to get to him. he knows he can't physically control her, so he exerts psychological control by placing Owens' blood on El's hands to get her to cooperate.
the phrase "blood on one's hands" means being responsible for deaths, not having literally, personally committed murder. this imagery is used onscreen to denote El's sense of guilt about the massacre well before she comes to the conclusion that she actually did it. (this could be symbolism that El's mind organically dreamed up instead of engineered fuckery, but who knows. we have no textual explanation yet for how her hands would be that bloody).
Tumblr media
and together with Brenner very textually using the kids against each other in other ways - having them literally duel each other in the circle game, but also the "driving them to do exactly what he wants" stuff - I don't think it's unreasonable to figure that fear of harm to the other kids was a manipulation tactic used in the lab.
that definitely includes One - lines like "I'm not going with you / if he finds me he will find you" "I wanted to help you, but I only made things worse" smack of a guy kept in line by fear of something happening to the kids.
and the Brenner-orchestrating-El's-murder story smells like a psyop. is this just Brenner wanting One to think harm would come to El as a consequence of his actions? (she became "uncontrollable" as a result of his coaching). El is too valuable an asset to actually kill. who would know better than One that the treatment for being uncontrollable is soteria, not death? assuming One is being truthful, why would he not see through that. idek what I think is going on here anymore
anyway. MKUltra is ALL about manipulation but I'll talk more about that in my other post
times El protects her friends the same way she protected One
Tumblr media
practically every move El makes is about protecting her friends but I want to point out a few times that are specifically reminiscent of her protection of One, where she's ready to give up her freedom to protect her friends even at risk of the worst case scenario (going back to the lab):
sacrificing herself to protect the party from the demogorgon ("no more") <- is that line in reference to the 6 people the demogorgon has snatched, or is that a massacre reference given how incredibly parallel these scenes are. I'm not sure whether "goodbye Mike" meant she thought she'd die or just get so wiped out that she'd be easily recaptured by the lab
leaving Kali and "freedom" to return to Hawkins and protect her friends, where she volunteers to go back into the lab to close the gate
leaving Cali and "freedom" to return to the lab to get her powers back to protect her friends
final thought: I just had a chuckle with myself at the fact that iirc it's Mike and Nancy whose lives El has individually, directly saved the most times.
[honorable mention for Max because I don't know how to quantify 4x9. is that like one massive save?]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like, Mike, okay, but why the Nancy emphasis when she and El have basically zero onscreen relationship. (actually I have a lot to say about El and Nancy coming up soon that might add context)
idk.. lab sibling guilt smth smth El protecting Nancy "she'll be like your new sister" and Mike "will you be like my brother" Creeler. you gotta love it

How old is Hal Jordan really?
TL,DR: Hal Jordan was most likely mid to late 20s when he received the ring and approximately early to mid 40s when he became Parallax.
Few Notes:
I give precedence to mentions of aging + time passing in Green Lantern comics versus his appearance in others.
This will be pre Zero Hour continuity as he was retroactively deaged during that arc (and the timeline was shortened to 10 years).
I will be treating pre-crisis and post crisis Green Lantern comics as one continuity because the pre-crisis Green Lanterns survived the crisis
I will be assuming that at the youngest Hal was 18 when he joined the military because Hal has been shown to be rule abiding in that regard.
How Old Was Hal when he received the ring?
Pre-crisis, he was no younger than 28. Post crisis, he was no younger than 25.
In Green Lantern (1960) #36, it is established that Hal's best friend in the Air Force was a man named Bill who died in the Korean War. As this comic came out in 1965, if he joined during the last year (1953) of the war at age 18 (the youngest possible age), he would be 30 during this comic. While there was not any direct reference to time passing in issue 36, in Green Lantern (1960) #27, at most 3 and a half years had passed since he became a Green Lantern and at least two and half years had passed overall. This makes him no younger than 28 when he became a Green Lantern. This makes sense with other established timelines, such as the fact that Jim (Hal's "kid brother" as he calls him in Green Lantern (1960) #22) is already out of college and has been for a while and that Hal was complaining about kids these days in the 60s. He was written as an older character, with several issues contemplating on how much stuff has changed.
Post crisis, the main timeline changes happened in Green Lantern (1990) and the surrounding Green Lantern books. In Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn II #1, Hal is noted as having flown missions in Vietnam and for this to have happened several years before. In addition to flying in Vietnam, he was a test pilot which requires a college degree plus at least 3 years of military experience. He most likely was at the very least 25 during this point.
Timeline Mystery: When Did GL/GA Happen?
Green Lantern (1960) #76 (the first issue of Green Lantern/Green Arrow) most likely happened eight years after Hal became a Green Lantern.
This timeline assumes 3 years between Showcase #22 and Green Lantern (1960) #27 (the midpoint of the smallest amount of time possible and the largest time possible), takes note of the fact that there is a year between Green Lantern (1960) #42 and #52 (note: #52 is set pre Green Lantern (1960) #49, in which Hal self exiles himself from Coast City). In addition, it assumes 3 years between Green Lantern (1960) #49 and #74, taking into account the several six month/year long time mentions in those issues and the fact that Tom had three children within that time frame.
There being eight years between Hal becoming Green Lantern and gl/ga makes sense, especially since in Green Lantern Corps (1986) #201, it has been five years since GL/GA and in Green Lantern Corps #215, it has been 12 years since the start of the Solar Director arc which started in Green Lantern (1960) #8, which was over a year since Hal became Green Lantern but less than two.
How Old Was Hal when he became Parallax?
Hal was, at the very least, 41 when he became Parallax. He was at the very least 40 during Green Lantern (1990) #1 and there was a year long period between Green Lantern (1990) #1 and #48.
This number bases on the fact that he was at least 25, and there is fifteen years between Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn (1989) and Green Lantern (1990).
Hal being at the very least 40 makes sense because during this era he was supposed to be older. In fact, Adam Strange even teases him about going cosmic in his old age (Green Lantern (1990) #38) and he's called old by Guy (Green Lantern (1990) #25). Hal even complains about how much his back hurts and how it didn't hurt this much when he was 30 (Green Lantern (1990) #32). He's supposed to be older than this era, the one people look up to, the one who is tired of always doing what is right but hurts himself in the end. His age is an important aspect of the narrative. Erasing this weakens what the passage of time and growing up means to him.

Alright, timelines. (link to my old post)
Today I'm going to walk you through the cluster fuck of Toriyama not paying attention to what he writes from the Trunks arc to the epilogue of the Perfect Cell arc.
Reminder that I divide the "Android Saga" in 4 arcs:
Trunks arc (arrival of Frieza to 3yg training),
Android arc (until the time machine is discovered)
Imperfect Cell arc (until Cell absorbs 18)
Perfect Cell arc (+ epilogue of Trunks killing imperfect Cell)
I will also pull Toei and Daizenshu content if needed just to show how bad it gets, BUT that's just to enhance my argument. Everything here is manga-deductible without extra context or content.
As I've shown in the link above, the manga implies 4 timelines:
Forgotten timeline (Cell kills Trunks and steals his time machine),
Lost timeline (the timeline that dead!Trunks traveled to, which did not have a Cell pop in the middle of its Android Saga, otherwise Trunks would've known about Cell),
Future Timeline (the one we know and see, Trunks traveled to a uni where Cell traveled to first, so there's changes and Cell pops up in the Android saga),
Main Timeline (the one we know and follow, to which Cell and Trunks traveled to),
Let's go into details about dates and math and everything first. (under the read more because LONG)
When Future Trunks discovers dead!Trunks' time machine, he states that it comes from age 788, which is 3 years from where he comes from (which means he comes from 785), and that the Machine landed here "4 years ago". 4 years ago was about one year before Trunks first came (aka one year before Meca Frieza stuff).
Tumblr media
During the first trip, Trunks states he comes from 20 years into the future.
Tumblr media
That means during his first trip, he went from 784/785 to 764.
We also know he's 17 at this point and "will be born in 2 and a half years"
Tumblr media
(Baby Trunks is supposed to be ~6 months old by May 12th, 767, so "I warn in 764, I'll be born in 2.5 years, so I was born in 766" works. Ignoring the wikis about Trunks' birthday being June and Future Trunks' birthday being in November, it doesn't matter here, we just need the years))
For Trunks to be 17 during his first trip, he needs to travel from 784 (before his 18th birthday). So by the time he comes back the second time, it needs to be in 785 (so he is 18!); since it takes 8 months to charge the machine (Trunks the Story manga chapter), that works out.
Tumblr media
So in terms of trips, we have:
Trunks (both versions) : (early-mid) 784 to 764
Trunks (both versions): (early-ish) 785 to May 12th 767
Cell: 788 to 763
Tumblr media
(handy recap sheet)
At the time, for Toei, there were only two Timelines (aka it was both multiverse theory AND dynamic time travel theory, because Trunks becoming aware of Cell who killed him means Trunks isn't killed by Cell... yeah it's all sorts of EHH ??):
Tumblr media
Anyway, you'd think this would be fine right? The image of Cell killing Trunks while he still had his sword (which he shouldn't since he broke it on 18's arm he never used it again in canon) is anime filler, we're all good.
Except... no. This fucking panel right here. Cell explains "(the machine/bots collecting dna) could've gotten Trunks cells but didn't because we had enough Saiyan cells".
Tumblr media
Cell supposedly comes from a timeline where GOKU killed Frieza and Cold. But this god forsaken panel contradicts that. (of course it's just that Tori forgot, but we are DB fans, we take things seriously and word of god of the manga is supreme and can't be wrong)
This means that THIS particular version of Cell doesn't come from the Forgotten Timeline.
The Cell we know and love/hate comes from a timeline in which a future Trunks killed Frieza and Cold, BUT everything still went to shit (Goku + gang dying, dead!Trunks traveling to the past, and coming back to destroy the Androids).
In this timeline, Bulma met Future Trunks (who killed Cold and Frieza) in 764, presumably the gang got all the warnings like in the main timeline, but everyone STILL died. So she invented the Time Machine to send her Trunks to the past (perhaps with different instructions so as to not repeat the mistakes of the Future Trunks she saw 20 years prior).
Here's the thing. There is a way for this timeline to exist. You "just" gotta work on the postulate that "each time there's a time travel to the past, a new branch is created". And "if the time machine travels back in time a second time, it lands in the timeline it first branched out unless it travels back further in time". Rephrased: The "784 to 764" trip created a new branch in 764. The "785 to 767" trip landed in that new 764 branch. However the "788 to 763" trip created a whole new branch in 763.
The Time Machine that was piloted by dead!Trunks actually "traveled further back in time", creating an earlier "branch"... which is why Trunks noticed changes, including Goku's late arrival (or Frieza's earlier arrival, we don't know).
Yes, because Future Goku did not use Instant Transmission to fight Frieza and Cold. We know he didn't because Future Bulma had the coordinates where Goku landed, which is how Future Trunks got said coordinates. If Goku had IT to fight Frieza and Cold, Bulma wouldn't have known where the pod was going to land 3 hours later.
So timelines and where does Cell come from? Well you need a timeline from the Branch that started in 764 (with a Future Trunks' arrival to kill Frieza and Cold) but in which everyone died to the Androids, and in which, when Trunks traveled back home, he was able to destroy the Androids...
Anyway here's my final recap of all the timelines in Z, in which "one time travel is one interference creating a new branch". And this is how we can see where Cell comes from :D
Tumblr media
This opens a realm of possibilities!!
Did a version of Trunks stay in the past, during his first trip and got a wish to Shenron to have a way to destroy his androids, so he didn't come back in 767 and didn't grow strong at all? Did the future trunks that warned against the Androids but that timeline still went to shit approached the problem differently?? who knows! Time for fanfics and doujins I guess :D
Peace!

So, I was thinking about one of my most recent posts:
The one I talk about how much I hate doing digital lineart and that my artstyle depends on it.
And that gave me an idea!
What if I created a whole new artstyle for the sole purpose of not doing any lineart?
So that's what I did!! (✯ᴗ✯)
I didn't have any idea on what I'd do or how I would do it, so it's still a bit rough and the proportions and other stuff may be a bit off ┐( ̄ヘ ̄)┌ I'll try to make it better with time!
Anyways, my first subject was....
TAILS!!!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ No bangs version (at first I completely forgot about them)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ w/ bangs version (With this, I found out I have no idea on how to draw his "hair")
HE'S SO FREAKING CUTE!!!!!!!! \(ÒwÓ)/
"Oh but why did you draw him with lashes if he's a boy?" BECAUSE HE IS THE CUTEST AND LASHES MAKE EVERYTHING CUTER!!!!!! (「`・ω・)「
Now for the facts! :
Miles "Tails" Prower is a character from the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise.
His name is a pun that refers to "Miles Per Hour"
He is Sonic's sidekick, and had his first debut in 1992, in the game "Sonic The Hedgehog 2".
One of his favorite foods (if not his favorite) is mints!
Even though he is very young, being only 8 years old(or 4 ½ if we're taking "The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog" into account), He is extremely smart and has a IQ of 300. He once even made a TV out of paperclips, for heck's sake!
He has made multiple gadgets and tech items because of his inteligence, his probably most famous/used one being "The Miles Electric", a multi-use portable computer, or the "Tornado", which is an airplane.
His intelligence and knoledge on technology is very advanced, with him being able to figure out how tech he'd never seen before works within only a few glances/minutes.
Although his main focus is in being a scientist that creates technology, he also has good knowledge in history, physics and just science in general
His origin story can vary a little depending on what piece of media we're talking about, but two things that are confirmed in the majority of iterations are that:
1- He used to get bullied in his village because of his 2 tails (That is also why his nickname is, well... Tails.)
And 2- One day he saw Sonic run by, found him cool and decided to follow him around until they became friends.
Tails can fly with his 2 tails, using them like a helicopter propeller. While flying, he is shown to be able to keep up with Sonic's speed, although he does get tired if he flies too much. Using his tails the same way, he can also push boats and stuff like that underwater. He also sometimes fights using them as weapon, and is a very skilled fighter.
Still about his tails and fighting skills, although I think those are just plot errors, he is shown to be able to use his tails to slice through metal, and is seemingly strong enough to lift up tons and sometimes is even faster than Sonic. (Okay, let me rephrase this. These definitely are plot errors. Sonic is literally supposed to be the fastest being on earth. And which 8 year old child can LIFT UP TONS OF STUFF??? It's already impressive that he can lift Sonic and other people up along with him when flying!)
(ahem...)
He is agile and has some acrobatic skills.
Unlike Sonic, he is a good swimmer, and also a good cook.
I can't think of any more random facts..
And again, sorry for the drawing's awful quality, it is my first time trying that artsyle TwT I promise I'll get better.
Also, it's almost 2 AM and I should be sleeping long ago. ( ಥ ‿ ಥ )
So as always,
BYE BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And have a good night~!
(or day, idk.)

you know funny enough, I feel like Jake and the neverland pirates would actually do really well as a Disney channel show for older kids (like say Gravity falls) instead of a preschool show. You’d be able to get more into lore and emotional stuff. Maybe even plot?
I don’t know, if they ever did decide to reboot the show it’s a neat idea.
*grabs your shoulders and shakes you excitedly*
THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING!!!! LIKE!!!!
Ok, I think there is something to be done with Jake and his crew and his dynamic with Peter and Hook. Like for example how do the kids feel that Peter is only here for a day or a few hours, just enough to help with their issue? I'm sure the kids have a bit of an unhealthy attachment to him as he's really the only guardian figure they know, and as shown in Peter Pan's return, they all crave his attention so bad that they fuck up the mission trying to impress him! Like sure they can call him to bring him back to Neverland, but they don't perhaps he implemented a rule that they can only call him for emergencies. Which is also kinda hm. But you know he doesn't completely neglect them.
Word vomit incoming
Now let's take this a step deeper; what about Peter's relationship with them individually, it's clear he has a favorite, and it's Jake like that isn't a contest. Even if the show tries not to portray it in that manner it's obvious (I mean for fuck sake his name is in the title lol). His item(s)? A wooden sword personally hand-carved by Peter himself. After completing the Forever Quest, a golden sword called the Destiny Sword (towards the end of season 3) turns him into Captain Jake after giving the others a rousing speech about teamwork and how they can all get together to defeat Fathom with it. So it's clear he's the chosen (I'll touch more on that pressure later) by Neverland. But what does that mean for Izzy and Cubby? I mean sure they got items from him and he does care about them, but they're not as special as Jake. And they're never going to be, I mean god, Disney didn't even bother to make them Birthday episodes yet gave Jake two, then gave Skully and a minor character one. So it could develop into them realizing that while they are well-liked they aren't loved by Peter, Cubby is in denial about this revelation as he has gotten more gifts than Izzy. Izzy, the only girl in the main cast, is grated by this knowledge, she KNOWS and she has known for a long time. Enough to the point where perhaps she deserves a villain arc (then a redeemed villain arc) with the help of Captain Hook, who sees this opportunity to manipulate her for his gain.
Ok so jumping, let's go back to that Captain Jake issue. I personally didn't like Season 4, I thought it was shit BUT this new Captain Jake in a reboot could bring up an interesting little angst point called, "The pressure of being forced to be THE responsible one when you're only still a child." You might have all these other well-established Captains around you but, they depend on you to think of ideas, and come up with solutions to save the day, if you fail then it's on you but you're only 8 or 10 years old!!! A user mentioned this before but Jake could develop an entirely new personality as a Captain to make himself seem smarter and more capable than he actually is! This can go two ways A) he burns out and he burns out REAL bad and rather fast. B) The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and the realization of how much power he holds makes him realize he can almost do whatever he wants because he IS the 2nd most powerful person after Peter. This then comes his Power-tripping arc and the consequences of Peter not dividing this power between the trio, and being gassed up everyone, which raises his ego through the roof. This can only end badly obv and it does, how? idk but just know it does.
As for Captain Hook, because this is New Disney he can't be 100% back to his OG self but he can absolutely be raised to be more of an asshole in a Disney channel show and probably a bit fucked up. But you also would have to thread carefully on how you do these things, because one wrong move and Disney will have you rewrite the whole thing and tone it down more than need be. I also think there would be more to explore with the kids and their dynamic with him, since they also would have more nuance to them. They could have more stakes with him, and could honestly do more messed up shit with them he could make them have an inner conflict, he could manipulate one to join his side temporarily. Put the kids in more life-threatening situations that they don't come out unscathed from. Hell, you know what, I want him to win some episodes and get his way with Jake and his crew being powerless to stop it. It would teach a lesson that some days, you just can't win, someone who is nasty will win and get away with it and you have to be ok with that! (if you have resourced all your options first) Life will not always go your way. As for him and Red Jessica, show a toxic relationship, I mean come on do you REALLY think she has a thing for hook lol, it was shoehorned Hetero-shipping bait and it worked now can we do something else with it? As for smee, sharky and bones? I guess they can be less friendly to the sea pups, it would be more of a loyalty thing rather than a personal thing.
Also, the show could bring back the lost boys, to make the island seem less empty than it is, and maybe a different set of kids to replace the Native Americans.
Finally, to end this word vomit, the relationship between the kids. I really beg it be explored more. Now don't get me wrong they can have a wholesome and loving bond but not everything has to be peachy-keen. Like sure Jake is their captain but do they, not envy or resent him in some way? For example, they're all bright but Izzy is shown to be the brightest she has more knowledge about Neverland and its artifacts, so why is she not captain? Is it because she isn't naive enough? She isn't as nice or forgiving as Jake? She has no issue snapping at you when she's fed up? Then there's cubby, does he even have the real guts to be cut up for this type of thing? The classic "why him and not me?" type of deal. Then there's Cubby, does he hate being just stuck as coconut boy by his peers and other pirates? Will he ever break out of his shell, does he have a breaking point with his friends? Then Jake gets annoyed that they're not as in sync as they once were, he kinda hates that they're developing on their own and steadily gaining more and more independence. They're willing to talk back to him, be rude, and do less trio activities. Which leads to more conflicting ideas, possibly fights, and less "what I say goes!". He is scared of them changing and becoming their own individuals, he's scared that they might be growing up.
Sorry this is so so so long and rambly, I just have a lot to say about a reboot for this show that I cannot help myself.

i’ve always had a problem with ages in MCD, they don’t makes sense (ik it’s cause at the start the npc’s aged quicker and stuff, but let’s fix one of the main ones that confuses me) Brian.
so first of all, i don’t think Brian is Dales son, Brian is darker skinned than both dale and molly, so what if he has a different dad. molly didn’t cheat, oh no, Brian is simply a child from a past relationship (i’m about to dump this head canon on all y’all so buckle up)
i think our dear sweet Molly is from O’kasis, she a very religious person, dedicated to Irene, and O’kasis is a very religious city, it makes sense. now i can see Molly being kinda poor while living in O’kasis, not the best support system, this is where she meets and “falls in love” with this guy, he’s a criminal and he’s trouble.
Molly’s probs like “i can fix him” when in fact what he does is breaks her. he’s abusive both physically and emotionally, and does what he wants no matter what she says. and Molly doesn’t fight back because she thinks this is punishment for something.
but then molly finds out she’s pregnant, and there is no way in hell she will raise this baby with a man like this guy, so in the dead of night she sneaks out with a small bag of treasured items, maybe a change of clothes, and that’s it. she finds her way to Nahkara village before stowing away to Scaleswind (the birth place/home of Irene, of course she’d be drawn to it)
she arrives and with the help of some kind strangers she settles in a small home, she has Brian and makes a living helping the elderly neighbour with his chicken farming, telling anyone who asks that Brian’s father passed away leaving her a widow (both o’kasis and scaleswind seem like places that would frown upon premarital sex) so Brian grows up thinking his dad was a good person who died (he most def sees the elderly neighbour they help as a grandfather)
then when Brian is around 8 or 9, Molly’s out one evening giving the chickens their last feed of the day when she sees a wagon coming into the city, there sitting with the reigns in his hand is her ex partner, Brian’s dad, and she me never felt more terrified. she runs inside and locks herself and her son indoors. that’s the day Brian finds out that his father his an abusive cruel man, and it causes anger to bubble up inside, anger at his dad for being that way, angry at his mum for lying, angry at himself for being a product of someone who hurt others.
with the help of the old neighbour they yet again, slip out of the city walls under nightfall. an old merchant on his way to bright port offers them a ride, but Molly is worried about going to another well populated town, but the merchant explains he has to stop off at a small village before bright port, it’s sounds perfect. so on to the wagon her and Brian get.
it’s daybreak of the 3rd day travelling when they arrive at this tiny little village of Phoenix Drop. and with the kindness of the lords wife’s (Matilda was always willing to take in ppl in need) they had a home. They were shown to their new house and around the village by a kindly guard (DALE) and with that they started their new lives.
when aphmau comes along she still sets up Molly and Dale (who’ve been smitten with each other for years now) at first Brian is excited cause he’s got a new dad, but then Dale starts going on and on and on about guard academy, Brian’s happy to go, but when he gets there he meets another student who’s got a step parent, only the step parent sent this kid away to get rid of them. this gets Brian thinking, and the more he talks to this kid the more it sticks in his head that Dale is doing the same thing (when really Dale is just so happy to have a son and wants to share being a guard with him too) and then when Brian comes home and finds his mother expecting a baby it’s like a moment of solidified acceptance, that Dale was trying to get rid of him and it worked.
then when Brian is arrested for betraying everyone, molly and dale visit him, Molly can’t stop crying no matter how much Brian pleads with her to not cry, but she can’t and so she walks out with Alexis in her arms. Dale is left looking at his son with a blank expression. Brian turns to his “father” coldly, spitting how Dale finally got what he wanted, a family without Brian.
and then Dale let’s out a dry sob which catches Brian’s attention. and Dale apologies to HIM. “if i ever made you think you were unwanted in this family, then i failed as a father…i’m so sorry my boy”
and Dale’s always called Brian his boy, but it hits so much harder in that moment because it’s the spark that ignited the copious amounts of doubt Brian begins to feel, that maybe all these years he was wrong, that Dale did in fact want him after all.

The Sea Witch’s Curse
pairing: Benedict Bridgerton x Sophie Beckett
summary: when Sophie loses her voice at her job as a disney princess at the disney store she has to get creative… not thinking it would completely change her life
Tumblr media
warnings: none. Just fluffy nonsense
word count: 2224 words
author's note: I saw a post on Instagram about something like this happening and @sophiebernadotte told me to write it… so I did 😂
The Disney store was not where Benedict had hoped to spend his afternoon but he had promised Hyacinth he would take her out shopping so that she could have whatever she wanted, within reason, if she behaved for him whilst he was looking after her the week before.
At 8 years old she was obsessed with Disney and the princesses and every weekend when she was at the shopping centre, she demanded she be took to the Disney store so she could hang out with the Princesses.
Benedict, so far, had managed to avoid that particular trauma with his youngest sister but this weekend he knew he had no choice, he had made the promise and since it was a toss up between Disney Store shopping or three separate events for Eloise, Francesca and Gregory… he knew which he’d prefer and so he’d bundled his youngest sister in his car and headed off to the shopping centre with no idea how much his life was about to change…
~*~
It was the last thing Sophie Beckett needed today. Waking up with no voice when she had a full day at work and they were already low on staff so she was working a longer shift than normal so she knew there was no way that she was phoning in sick.
Not only was it against her working ethics, it wasn’t fair to her friends there so she’d messaged her manager to tell her what was happening and that she had a plan…
It was a little unconventional, she knew some of the kids in the shop would be a bit confused but she was sure it would work, at least to some degree anyway.
And for the most part people just wanted pictures with her in her Princess uniform anyway so she wouldn’t be required to do much speaking she was sure of it.
She’d made sure her Ipad was fully charged and her Apple Pen was ready and raring to go as she made her way into the packed shopping centre.
Saturday’s were always the busiest and there would always be a steady stream of people with kids coming in and out of the disney store so she knew she was in for a busy day.
Kate, her best friend was also on shift but due to the shortage of staff was on the tills today rather than being dressed up as usual and had laughed at Sophie’s plan but said it was ingenious, Tabitha, who was dressed as Ariel had laughed and agreed to Sophie’s hairbrained plan for the day and agreed to back her up if anyone asked why Cinderella was walking around with a sign that said “Ursula the Sea Witch has gotten confused and stolen my voice today but I am still happy to assist you”
Sophie knew it was a long shot and some of the kids had been very confused as to how Ursula had gotten confused between the two of them but Ariel had explained that she and Cinderella had been trying on each other’s clothes and it must have confused the witch and some of the younger kids bought it.
Sophie did have one creep offer to give her “true love’s kiss” to get her voice back but after a disgusted look and the security guard coming over to protect the princesses from the creep in the shop who had no kids with them, most of it stopped.
That was until one of her regular and favourite customer’s came in.
She hadn’t seen little Hyacinth in a few weeks and the last time she’d come in her older brother had spent a lot of time talking to Kate and so Sophie had shown Hyacinth the new Moana stuff they’d gotten and it had been a fun afternoon with the young girl.
Sophie didn’t know much about the Bridgerton’s but she knew they were a large family and so when she heard Hyacinth’s squeal of happiness at her favourite princess being there and looked up and saw a different older brother with her, Sophie felt her heart do a little flip.
He could have given any Prince Charming a run for his money and some but Sophie didn’t have long to admire the man as Hyacinth had thrown herself into Sophie’s arms and was hugging her tightly.
So tightly, Sophie had lost the grip on her iPad and it had fallen to the floor, “sorry Sophie” Hyacinth exclaimed as she bent down and picked it up and then read what was on the screen and gasped “Ursula has stolen your voice!?” she explained
The man with Hyacinth chuckled “I thought it was Ariel that she usually stole the voice off…”
“Well Sophie’s got such a nice singing voice, even better than Ariel’s that clearly Ursula wanted someone else” Hyacinth said in a matter of fact tone to her brother as she handed Sophie back the iPad, “besides, it doesn’t matter, if she’s lost her voice then we have to find a way to defeat Ursula to get it back!” she said “Ohhh there is Kate! I’ll go ask Kate for idea’s!” Hyacinth said and ran off before Benedict or Sophie could say anything.
“Sophie huh? I thought you were Cinderella?” the handsome man asked with a brow raised and a lopsided smirk on his face
Sophie grabbed her pen and scribbled Hyacinth’s been in that often she’s seen me on non-princess days so refuses to call me Cinderella anymore, same with why she calls Kate, Kate and not her princess
“Well that make sense… that and Anthony is now dating Kate” he said
True. but she was calling Kate her name long before then.
He smirked and shrugged “she is very strong willed, she’ll have a thousand ideas as to how to get your voice back when she comes back”
I don’t doubt it but some rest and not speaking will do it for me I am sure. I’ve not seen you here with Hyacinth before but clearly you’re a brother… so you must be Benedict? I’m assuming.
Benedict blinked, most women, or people just saw him as another Bridgerton and rarely did someone who had never met him before even know his name
“How… did you know?”
Sophie beamed and wrote Hyacinth told me she had four brothers, Anthony i’ve met, she told me that Benni was taller than Anthony, and Gregory is 10… and i’m sure I saw Colin in here a few weeks ago talking to Kate and trying to make her see sense about Anthony and he was definitely shorter so you have to be Benni… and Kate told me it’s Benedict not Benni…
Benedict laughed “yes, Benedict, or Ben… it’s nice to meet you Sophie, Hyacinth doesn’t shut up about you or Kate or the rest of the princess to be honest…”
Well she’s a sweet kid
“Sweet isn’t how we’d word it…”
Strongwilled?
Benedict laughed “that’s kinder than pain in the arse but yes, she’s got the entire family wrapped around her finger”
It must be nice. Being close to your family
“It is maddening but it is nice…” he smiled at her, wondering why he felt so comfortable around her and found her so easy to talk to.
Hyacinth had always said that Sophie was a kind hearted girl, that she was training to be a Vet, that she was very pretty but Benedict was blown away by her green eyes, the smile on her face and he’d not heard her talk but he could almost imagine her melodious laugh and tone when he read her words.
There was a magical quality about her and it was drawing him in.
They spent half an hour talking, or he was talking and Sophie was writing, just chatting about his family, he’d asked about her course and how it was going, whilst Hyacinth was talking to Kate and then talking to Ariel and a few of the other princesses, her eyes kept flicking over to the keep and eye on Benedict and Sophie and he missed the scheming look in his sister’s eyes when Kate had come back and whispered in her ear a few seconds later Hyacinth came running over “I know how to fix it!”
Benedict and Sophie looked towards the young girl with their brows raised and looking amused “and how is that Hyacinth?”
“Kate said it’s the same with Ariel, she has to be kissed by her Prince Charming!”
That may be the case Hyacinth but I don’t have a Prince Charming
“I know! Kate told me! But Benni could be him!” Hyacinth said without a care in the world, causing Benedict to splutter and Sophie to go bright red.
“I’m not Prince Charming Hy, you know that…”
“But you could be!” Hyacinth said, jumping up and down excitedly.
“Hyacinth, you can’t just kiss people you’ve just met and not when they’re at work…” Benedict said trying to defuse the situation as he felt his own cheeks growing red
“But you could take her out and then kiss her! Kate said you were checking Sophie out and flirting with her! So you could!”
“Hyacinth…” Benedict whined as both Sophie and Benedict shot Kate a look who was just standing behind the till laughing away to herself as she served a customer and clearly enjoying the look on her friends face.
Hyacinth, it is nice of you to try and help me out but I am sure i’ll be fine in a few days, and besides I am sure Benedict wasn’t flirting with me.
“He was flirting with you!”
Benedict went bright red at being called out by his littlest sister.
“Hyacinth, look, just… here… here’s £30, go find a toy and buy it. Please…”
“But…”
“Look, just let us talk please… if you do this we’ll go for a mcdonalds and then an Gunthers on the way home…”
Hyacinth looked at the money and then between Benedict and Sophie and grabbed the money and ran off into the toys looking for something to buy and Benedict turned to Sophie, both of whom were bright red and a little mortified
“Sorry about her…”
It’s fine. She’s not the first one to try and find me Prince Charming today. It’s okay you can just… I don’t know tell her you’re not interested or whatever or say we’re going out and just lie?
“And what if I am interested in taking you out? And was actually flirting… and clearly doing a bad job if you think i’m not interested”
Sophie spluttered, the first real noise to come out of her mouth all day; you’re interested?
“Of course I am. You’re beautiful, you’re funny, I see why Hyacinth loves you so much, so what about it? Give it a few days for your voice to come back and i’ll take you out to dinner? If… if you want?” he said suddenly wondering if perhaps he’d misread the signs
Sophie nodded, i’d like that… if you give me your number i’ll message you when i’m off work and we can text whilst my voice heals then we can go out.
“Really?” he asked excitedly
Sophie nodded with a shy smile.
Benedict stuck his hand in his wallet and grabbed a business card out and with the actual pen Sophie had on her lanyard he scribbled another number down “this is my personal one, this is my work one… and my email just… just incase” he grinned sheepishly, realising how uncool it was to go over the top but Sophie just grinned and took the card and slipped it into the top of her costume and out of sight and Benedict tried not to look as it disappeared into her bra and he went more red than he already was
I’ll send you all mine later
“Thanks”
“BENNIIIIIII” came a voice that was skipping back with a huge Stitch stuffed toy and an innocent smile on her face “can I have this?”
“How much is it?”
“£55…”
Benedict sighed, it was more than he wanted to spend and he knew Anthony would kill him but considering Hyacinth in her bulldozer way had maybe just helped him get a date with the most beautiful woman he’d ever met in his life he nodded “fine… but you have to chose Gunthers or McDonalds we’re not doing both…”
Hyacinth squeaked “thank you”
“Come on, we’ll go pay, it was nice to meet you Sophie and I look forward to hearing from you later…” he grinned at her and Sophie beamed
It was lovely to meet you too. See you later Hyacinth…
“Bye Sophie!” Hyacinth said waving and Sophie watched as the brother and sister made their way to the till and Benedict’s clearly sheepish interaction with Kate and Kate looking over at Sophie with a smirk on her face, which Sophie returned with a glare, and mouthed “i’m going to kill you”
Though she knew it was just payback considering she’d done the same thing not a month earlier when Anthony had been in the store but as Benedict left with a bright smile back at Sophie, she couldn’t help but save his number into her phone as Prince Charming…
And when he proposed to her, 18 months later…he did so dressed as Prince Charming from Cinderella…

so. um. on top of everything ive been dealing with this week. ive also learned my dog might have heart problems. she's going to be 15 years old in a couple of months so i've always been really scared that one day she'll just. y'know. keel over. since the day she turned 11 years old i have spent every single day worrying if it's her last. she isn't even unhealthy or anything! she's just old!!! she still jumps around and acts like a puppy, she's so energetic, but like. she's just... so... old. and i hug her and kiss her every single day and tell her i love her so much and every night when i jolt awake from a nightmare she crawls onto my chest and kisses me until i calm down. i really hope she knows that i love her. i miss her every single time i have to leave the house and then i count the minutes until i can get back so i can hold her again.
she doesn't show any symptoms of hurting or being in any pain, but she has a stage 5 heart murmur, or so one vet says. came completely out of nowhere, i just brought her to the place today to get her annual rabies shot, and the vet was suddenly like "hey her heartbeat is like, abnormally loud. oh she has stage 5 heart murmur. you need to get that checked." so im taking her to another vet this thursday to get an x-ray. the vet said she could live without any heart problems with the murmur but that's only for like... stage 1 murmurs... Coca's at 5... symptoms would show blue gums, her fainting, panting even while lying down, stuff like that. she hasn't shown any of those symptoms at all, she has been extremely healthy with zero problems her entire life. last year while i was on my 8 month unplanned hiatus, she had accidentally ingested 2 weeks worth of bug poison (long story), and she survived it and didn't have any long lasting problems. she's just a little shih-tzu, she's so small, yet she's so sturdy. i want to hope that everything is okay but a part of me is like "oh no, this is it, this is the thing that's gonna kill her" but i also want to hope that she's fine for at least... another year. maybe two. i keep hoping and praying she lives to be at least 17 years old. i just want her to stick around as long as possible
anyway. i'm crying and having a lot of anxiety attacks. i dont want to jump to conclusions, because maybe she'll be fine, but... "stage 5 heart murmur" sounds horrifying especially when your dog is old and gray. and then of course i tried to internet search it and the results are like "your dog will DIE of HEART FAILURE" and then other sources say "oh they can live their whole life with a heart murmur" or "it's fatal if they're fainting and you have to catch it early" like bro WHICH IS IT. guess i'll find out thursday

NATLA Episode 8 - Legends (2/4)
[Masterlist of my NATLA thoughts]
Of course, full spoilers ahead.
<previous/next>
I really enjoy how Zhao (Azula) is a much smarter villain in the live-action than he was in the animated series. While I do love them both, leaning into the Fire Nation not just working off brute force, but rather being strategic and clever with their attacks was a great choice. The Ice Moon caveat for the spirits and Kuruk's spirit knife made the world feel bigger to me than just having the moon and ocean spirits conveniently always sitting there to kill by any means. I don't think the live-action team went in with the idea that the ocean and moon spirits being mortal was 'a plothole to fill' like some claim (yet again, always jumping to the least charitable interpretation of the live-action rather than spending three seconds to think about what it ADDS to the story to flesh that part out), I think they used it to seed a lot of lore and worldbuilding while also giving reasons as to why events played out the way they did.
Like I said in my post about episode 6, it makes a lot more sense to me that Zhao would have easy access to the info (and weapon) needed to kill the Moon Spirit rather than that shlub somehow finding the super hidden library that an archeologist spent YEARS searching for. While it was a cool foreshadowing of the library in season 2, having Zhao discover the moon and ocean spirit stuff in Avatar Roku's temple in the live-action I think makes more sense.
The fire sage being the one to explain the spirit oasis and the origins of waterbending to Zhao was a really cool change! It shows Zhao formulating his plan rather than having it just told to us like in the animated version - it includes the lore behind the ocean and moon spirit without making it so obvious that that's the solution to their problem, it introduces it as the problem and we have to work our way to the solution instead of it just being given to us. The fact that the sages still know and revere (even though they're using it to form an attack plan) the histories of bending is a nice touch. Especially the older sages, they remember the old ways and stories and don't discount the power of the old tales like younger people might. It doesn't stop them from falling into fascism (it stops some, but not all), but it does add layers and nuance to their world view rather than the very surface-level 'all others are bad, we don't pay attention to them' view that was shown mostly in the animated version.
Kuruk appearing to Aang to warn him was super cool!! I like how past Avatars can appear to their current iteration (not to mention they were right outside his shrine) to warn them of something and having it be Kuruk's knife that he can feel added a lot. It's another instance where the Fire Nation can turn anything into a weapon against the world - the weapon Kuruk forged to PROTECT the world from evil spirits and keep the world in balance is now being twisted and used by the Fire Nation to hurt the good ones and throw the world out of balance. Just as Zhao and the Fire Sage took a beautiful story about the creation of the Water Tribes and twisted it into something to harm them, they're taking a weapon of protection and making it a brutal weapon against the light.
UUUGGGHHHH Zhao and his twisted 'justifications' as to why killing the moon isn't actually all that bad. "Killing the ocean would deprive people of their lives - I'm not a monster!" of course he wants a world to rule, so he can't kill them, only fully subjugate them and wipe out their culture! See, they will get to live under his amazing rule, why would he deny them that opportunity?? Watch closely, everyone - that's the reasoning a lot of fascists give when they start trying to eradicate cultural practices - they argue that they're leaving the people alive, so it's not actually bad! We're just stripping away their identity and replacing it with our own! Save the man, kill the savage and all that.
"The Avatar's power is great, but it pales in comparison to the elemental spirits" SUCH GREAT FORESHADOWING WITHOUT GIVING IT ALL AWAYYYY!!!!!!! Also a great way to show the power scale of the world - as powerful as Aang is in the Avatar state, the spirits are the OG - especially the elemental ones. Aang ISN'T the most powerful thing in this world. It sets up how they're going to defeat the fire nation army without Aang in control of the Avatar state really well! They're leaving breadcrumbs rather than telling you the plan in a monologue or just randomly deciding to join with the ocean spirit - a power that hadn't been discussed at all in the animated show.
That Momo fake out death was CRUEL!!!! He just saved a girl's life and we think he gave his life to do it!!!! But it was a great way to introduce not only the spirit oasis, but also the healing properties of its waters. In the animated show, that's not mentioned at all until Pakku gives Katara the water vial and tells her it can heal - it's actually SHOWN in the live-action that it's powers are beyond normal healing. Yue's story about her being healed in these waters makes a lot more sense here as well rather than in the animated series where she tells the story once the moon is in trouble. At the time, it seems like it has nothing to do with the immediate danger, it's just a way to set up that she'll give back that life in the end - a quick lore set-up break in the action. In the live-action, it's directly tied to what's happening - she's doing the same thing to Momo that was done to her to save her life. Her connection with the moon isn't relevant yet, so that part of the story is held till later when it is relevant.
Honestly, I think the spirit oasis is much more impressive in the live-action. In the animated show, it's just a small island of grass with a pond - in the live-action, it's a whole valley filled with life. And I love how NO adaptation can resist showing Zuko fire-blasting his way out from beneath the ice - it's just too damn cool to leave out! I like how Iroh is still playing his loyalties close to the chest - he's not going to outright attack Zhao yet, but he'll definitely stall and not help out as much as Zhao wants him to.
Zuzu!!!! Like always, huge shit is happening all around but Zuko still thinks him capturing Aang is the most important thing in the world. I like that they're keeping that narrow focus for him - one of his biggest flaws - that blinds him to everything around him. He's not concerned about saving Agna Qel'a, he's not concerned about saving the spirits, he just wants to capture Aang and restore his place in the Fire Nation.
His face as Katara says she's gonna fight him and Aang agreeing - oof. Here he is thinking he's Aang's biggest threat and Aang is just handing his battle off to Katara. And Aang's sly little 'go easy' that wasn't to Zuko - the poor thing. So we begin Zuko v Katara round 2!!! Back in episode 2 on Kyoshi Island, Katara stood against Zuko - untrained and terrified, but knowing she needed to protect Aang. She was beaten easily, but now, she's had training. She's had experience. She's forged herself into a warrior and she's ready for everything Zuko can dish out. Well, not EVERYTHING as even in the animated series, Zuko does win due to his extensive training, but she puts up a wicked fight!
I am good with the siege only lasting one day rather than several like in the animated version. Though I do miss the 'you rise with the moon, I rise with the sun' line, it does kind of feel like Zuko kidnapping Aang was more to provide a cliffhanger for the end of The Siege of the North: Part 1 rather than a necessary narrative choice. In a 2-part finale, yeah we want a cliffhanger, but since this is all one episode, like I mentioned in my post about how episode flow has to change given the new format, that just wouldn't have worked out as well as a smooth single-night attack. Aang seeking guidance before the battle rather than getting kidnapped mid-meditation I think was a smart move. (I've always felt like that cliffhanger was a bit of an odd choice anyways because they make this huge deal about Aang not being able to find his body if it isn't right where he left it, but then it's…not a problem at all - his spirit just zooms back to his body - conveniently showing the Gaang where to find him and Zuko and nothing actually comes of that 'threat' of him not being able to re-enter his body. I'll talk about Zuko's speech about Azula later when it's brought up and altered in the live-action).
I LOOOOOVE Zhao's little speech here - his ambition to gain status - to become a legend, has led him to more and more dangerous things. He truly believes he could become the new Fire Lord. Iroh pleads with him not to do it, but Zhao is too filled with the desire for power that he's not listening to reason. Even after Iroh's threats, Zhao isn't concerned in the least - he views the threats 'empty' and is so smug about how 'this could still work out for you'. As if Iroh is like Zhao and would cave to any opportunity for power.
Like always, Aang tries to talk his enemy down - he tries to appeal to their better nature, an idea that they wouldn't want to throw the world into chaos. The exchange here is SO FREAKING GOOD. Aang pleading with Zhao that this isn't power, Zhao so drunk on his own importance that he can't imagine why anyone would give up the chance to wipe out an entire race of benders - and Aang knowing exactly what that's like, how horrifically awful it is. But for Zhao, those are only stories - he's never known a world with airbenders in it, but Sozin went down in history for that 'accomplishment' he, himself, can be in the history books along side such a 'legend' with no thought to the actual real, human hurt necessary to get there.
Aang finally tries the last thing he can - making Zhao the same offer he made Zuko: leave the attack behind and he'll go with them peacefully. But Zhao isn't Zuko - he wants more than just the Avatar. He wants to cause pain and suffering and have people look upon him with fear. I think it's such an interesting take to have Zhao, like June, not view the Avatar with reverence. He's bought into the Fire Nation propaganda that the Avatar isn't actually all that powerful - the Fire Lord has taken that place. Even the legitimacy of the concept of the Avatar itself is called into question - after all, the Fire Nation wants all the power and the Avatar would stop them. That's not helping  them, so the Avatar must be useless.
Unknowingly, Zhao has just struck at Aang's biggest fear: while Zhao thinks the Avatar doesn't matter on its face, Aang is afraid that he's not good enough as an Avatar TO matter.
I've seen people confused about Iroh's loyalties and his true goal in the live-action - is he really working against the fire nation or not? And some criticism that it seems like he's helping Zuko capture Aang TOO much/ doesn't stop Zhao soon enough from killing the moon spirit. I'd point them, yet again, to the animated series where he very clearly, in The Waterbending Master episode, tells Zuko "once we get to the north pole, the Avatar will be yours". At the moment, animated Iroh is fully on board with Zuko capturing the Avatar. If he plans on trying to influence him not to turn the Avatar in to the fire lord, it's not even hinted at yet, so I think keeping it up in the air for the live-action is staying true to Iroh and Zuko not being 'good guys' - their goals are still to capture Aang. Live action Iroh even attacks Zhao BEFORE the animated Iroh does! In the animation, Iroh threatens Zhao, but doesn’t make a move until Zhao has killed the moon spirit - in the live-action, he attacks in an attempt to save the spirit. Yet another example of people criticizing the live-action for something even more apparent in the animated series - often because they're thinking of the character 2 seasons from now and what they think THAT version of the character would do and trying to apply it to season 1 when that's not even the characterization the animated show gave them in season 1.
I think the subsequent fight in the moonless night is even more emotionally intense in the live action than it was in the animated series. You can FEEL the terror and SEE people dying as the waterbending fails and the fire nation advance. The way this sequence was shot is honestly amazing - it's not gruesome or violent for the sake of it - it's showing the truth of war and the horrific cost of such an assault. Letting the warriors of the Northern Water Tribe have a heroic stand against the firebenders even when their best resource was taken away was great to see. Giving Hahn and Chief Arnook their moment showed that it truly wasn't just about Aang and his friends - this story is about every single person who stands up to fight against tyranny, no matter the weapon they might wield or power they have.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off - Small Changes
So, naturally, a lot of focus has been on the big overall narrative changes. Pretty obvious that the focus would all be on the big 'oh what' moments from Ep 1, and then 6-8. But there are a ton of smaller focus shifts that matter.
Not planning to focus on the Spoilers but they might show up.
Wallace Wells
You might think this is where I say 'he's meaner' or 'he's more of an asshole' and you'd be wrong. He's simply less kind. Or, more accurately, his kindness just isn't in focus or shown off. See, in the books you get a lot of him being an asshole. Making out with Stacie's boyfriends and two timing... everyone not named Mobile. But you also get him being viscerally angry at Envy over what she did to Scott. He calls Scott out, but does like having Scott around. We get a little of that Wallace in ep 7, but mostly? We get cruelty without the counterbalance. It does change how he reads.
Knives Chau (17 years old)
So the film and books her 'Scott is not her life' moments are off screen. Takes off did them on screen, so we get a lot more of who Knives is without Scott in her mind. That her love of music is deeper than just 'she cares about Scott' or 'she actually listens to Stephen's lyrics' (that's from the beach episode when Julie is being awful). Where the Wallace change made him somewhat worse, this change made Knives worlds better.
Ramona Flowers
This isn't about the plot focus, that's a big change. I care about just a thing in Ep 1 (and a little of Ep 3). In the movies Ramona is aloof, better than, and distant to the idea of dating Scott. In the books she's more directly antagonistic of Scott, his hobbies, and who he is. Ramona in this version more directly shows her interest over him being a charming idiot and seems completely in for his nerdy gaming and comics things. Even if she doesn't know anything about Sonic the Hedgehog. This change is very subtle, but cements the rest of the show.
Scott Pilgrim
Scotty, of course, is a little different too. He's still dating Knives, but there's less interest in his reasoning. Wallace still calls Knives Scott's 'fake high school girlfriend' and Scott doesn't claim to be dating her, just 'sort of' dating her. It also doesn't give him any slack for not breaking up with her when he should. But makes clear his intentions are more or less being a dumbass, not taking advantage. The other change, of course, omitting most of Scott's past. If you know the books, you know this stuff to explain why he's bad at things™. But without that information his being a dumbass manchild is just left there for us to weigh without context. This omission isn't bad, exactly, it simply is. He still works as a main love interest, he's still charming enough to believe Ramona would love him. But it does remove some of this depth, the cost to add depth to... everyone else.
The others don't have small changes, not to the degree of those four. Young Neil is more of an idiot than the books. Kim's less complicated without exploring her history. Those things. But they aren't as worth discussing.
I also wouldn't call the changes to the exes small. They're pretty large changes. But if you think I should talk about some of them I can.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?
55!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
183,074
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The short answer is basically "whichever one I'm feeling".
the longer answer is: Arata the Legend, the MCU (specifically my own OC content and Eternals), Good Omens, The Old Guard, The Wicked + The Divine, A Discovery of Witches/All Souls Trilogy, Doctor Who, Ted Lasso (in theory, so far) and like... other stuff I can't think of right now that I haven't published but still write for, and other stuff I have written fics for but wouldnt say I "write" for the fandom.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Okay
Rotten Work
Ethereal
First Word
everybody wants someone (i want to be somebody)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! Or I try to - I try to respond to every comment people leave, even if it's only a heart emoji or a 'thank you'. Because I want to show them I see them and appreciate them!!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Toss up between "no home sweet and no sweet home" with Joan having to run away from an abusive household in the middle of the night to a life of just constant running and loneliness she's not emotionally prepared for after having a relatively normal life and "my heart is a stone, my body is not my own" with Yataka dealing with years of blackmail, sexual assault and noncon suddenly being exposed to everyone by one of his abusers and just refusing to talk about it at all and rejecting the (admittedly flawed) attempt at comfort shown to him (points for being a fic I wanted to end with comfort and instead became my first hurt/no comfort).
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
It's hard to choose but I'm gonna say probably First Word (link above) because. I mean how does it get better than Human!Ten, Donna and Jenny being a little family together and Jenny's first word being Donna's name and Ten being absolutely in love with his girls-
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Oh I did like, back when I was 13. My ATLA OC fic got cyberbullied by some dude on tumblr, who copy&pasted whole chapters of my fic and then would go through the chapter and add shitty comments.
The only good thing about that situation was that he even added a whole post to express his confusion that all the comments on my fic were positive. everyone else was loving it. and then he apparently needed to ruin me and left his own comment telling me he was reviewing my fic. which of course led to a shock and some hurt feelings but uh, seeing him annoyed at everyone else liking the fic helped lmao now I can look back on it with amusement like what was going on with that guy that he felt the need to harass a 13 year old.
I also got another comment on the same fic accusing me of plagiarizing their fic and OC because both my oc and hers could bend 2 elements and had sort of similar names and when I went to read her fic it was so completely different from my own I had to LAUGH.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I've attempted it a few times but I really don't know what I'm doing with it.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I've never written a whole crossover - I admit I did start an au fic where all different studio ghibli characters were in the story of Anastasia the movie, but it did not get super far before I stopped.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
luckily no.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No but if anyone ever asked I wouldn't say no!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope!
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Oh my god.... I mean as hard as it is to choose it's gotta be TenDonna. like platonically, romantically, a secret third thing, they are amazing together and I love them so much.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I try to never say I'll never finish a fic, but there's one for certain I don't think I'll ever finish, Prince Mononoke - a role swap au of Princess Mononoke. I was writing it for years and had my grandma proofread every chapter before publishing. I put it on hiatus for years, but then she died, and it didn't feel right to keep going.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I feel I write dialogue really well. I try my best to hit the right voice for every character and I think I do a good job at it. And honestly it's hard for me to not write dialogue like half the time I'm like can you guys shut up already and progress the plot with actions instead-
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm not as poetic as I'd like to be, I guess. Like. some writers are just fucking masters with words and I feel like I'm stammering. I'm also not super confident in writing romance - like, pining, or friendly relationship with a splash of romance for fun? I've got that. Actual romantic relationships? Not so much.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If I do, I use google translate and hope for the best, but usually I don't. Ethereal has a lot of Canadian French in it because Marianne is from Quebec, but I use my sister (a French Immersion student) as my translator.
I mean I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Like, use the best translator website you can find and hope for the best.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
If we want to get really technical it was for The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, before I even knew fanfic was a thing. If we want to be specific to published fic, it was Avatar the Last Airbender.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
UGHHHH HOW DO I CHOOSE
honestly I have no way to choose. So I'm simply not going to lol
