first date with graham would include;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay so. i’m imagining this with young, romantic 17-18 year old/sixth form graham, since he said in an interview once that when he was around that age he was so endorsed in the idea of falling in love AHHHH
it starts with him asking you out all awkwardly after class finished thinking that you’d reject him, until you say yes and agree to going on a date.
you guys decide to meet the same night, 6pm-ish at a small café that’s near both of you guys; its winter season so its dark and cold out
as you walk in, you see that graham is already seated by a table for two, right by the window reading a book
this warms your heart as you see him all snuggled up in his coat due to the cold weather, you could tell he had only been in there for about 10 mins or so.
his hands are delicately pressed on the page of his book, one finger tracing the sentences as he mumbles them slowly, trying to analyse and understand the sentence in a much deeper extent, his facial expressions so peaceful, you could tell he was only focused on only that page, nothing else.
not wanting to distrub him, you walk up to him slowly, only until you’re stood by the table does he notice you, his head lifting up instantly as he pulls up his glasses, shutting the book and smiling at you straight away.
“hey, how are you??” he asks with such care laced in his voice its so heart-warming jiefshiu
after a couple minutes of catching up and talking, you both agree on getting drinks, to which he practically runs to the counter, leaving you awkwardly sat in your seat.
“you didn’t have to pay,” you say as he brings two big cups of steaming hot chocolate to the table, carefully placing both on the table as he falls back into his seat again, dying to talk to you
“i wanted to,”
a couple seconds of silence pass, you’re both blowing on your drinks, taking a sip after you’re almost certain it’s not that hot
imagine if the smiths or the cure are playing in the background of the coffee shop, the dimly-bright lighting pouring out on the both of you guys
DISCUSSING MUSIC TASTE.
“i’m not that big of a fan when it comes to morrissey,” you say whilst the smiths are in topic, you both bonding over how you think johnny marr is genuinely one of the greatest guitarists of all time-
your eyes focused on the drink engulfed by your palms, him staring at you as you get so happy as the drink’s warmth passes down your throat
him nervously mentioning that he plays guitar and blushing crazily when you’re so shocked and interested in it
“i could show you sometime,” he says implying a second date, to which you nod furiously!!!
“wait, you’ve got something on your top lip,” he mumbles, grabbing your tissue and wiping your top lip, causing you to blush insanely due to how much care he’s showing for you
once you both finish your drinks, its probably around 8-ish now, so you both decide to leave, him insisting on walking you home
as soon as you both walk out the shop, you’re straight away hit with the sudden cold rush of winter air, immediately making you walk closer to graham, grabbing his hand
at first he’s shocked by the contact, but eventually he pulls you closer to him, if thats even humanely possible at this point-
you both walk in silence, both enjoying each other’s presence, immensely glad that you said yes to going out with him tonight
once you guys have arrived to your house (his being a couple streets down), you turn your body to face him, staring deeply into his soft features as you hold his face in your hands, brushing over his fringe lightly with the tips of your fingers
“thank you so much for today,” you murmur, holding his hands again. “can you do saturday?”
“saturday?” he asks, oblivious to the point of your question (I FIND THAT SO CUTE OK BYE)
“i wanted to see you play guitar!” you explain, watching his scrunched up face of confusion melt into realisation
“o-oh, of course,”
“perfect, i’ll see you saturday,” you say, kissing his cheek before walking to your door, turning away, leaving a soft graham starstruck and practically head over heels for you.

❀ Chapter 24: Your Fiancé's Waiting ❀
"I'll miss you, buddy."
You hugged your tall best friend as tears were triggered to fall anytime. Joohyuk comfortingly patted the top of your head as you squeeze the life out of him.
"Do you want to kill me before I go?" He mumbled as he hugged you back. You shook your head on his chest, slightly tickling him. "That tickles, buddy."
"You should have souvenirs when yo come back, okay?! Don't forget that." Tiffany said, already in tears as she watched you two. You hesitantly pulled away from Joohyuk. Tiffany patted his back and smiled. "Give it your best shot, Hyuk."
"I will." Joohyuk grinned ruffling bith of yours and Tiffany's hair. "Be good, okay? Don't get too lonely without me. I'll be back before you know it."
"Don't worry, we'll replace you easily, stupid." You mumbled, playfully rolling your eyes as you crossed your arms. Joohyuk frowned and poked your forehead.
"Just try!"
"Paging, passengers for the second flight to Singapore, Gate 3 is already opened. May I repeat..."
You trapped your lower lip with your teeth as you felt like crying again.
Your best friend was leaving.
"Hey, hey. Stop crying now. I don't want to leave you guys here with those eyes." Joohyuk whined as he wiped your cheeks and glanced at Tiffany, who seems calmer than you. "Take care of each other while I'm gone, okay? I'll miss you two." He hugged you both together.
"Hyuk..." You caught his arm before he pulled away. "... wait for me there, ne?" Joohyuk's grin widened as he heard you.
"I will, buddy." He gently placed a kiss on your forehead, making you cry more. "Greet your father for me."
"Bye, Hyuk! Have a safe flight!" Tiffany said as she waved at him, his back on you and her. Joohyuk waved back before running towards the assigned gate with his luggage behind him.
"Come on, sweetie. Let's have a chat in a cute sweets shop here." Tiffany held your hand and walked ahead with you closely behind her. You glanced again at the airport.
"Bye, buddy."
You and Tiffany went to the sweets shop she was talking about earlier. The place has this calming atmosphere that makes you want to sleep as you sit down on their soft bouncy couch.
"So, you're telling me that your father wants you to marry someone from his world, aka the business world?! Is he that old? I mean, it's been a very long time when arranged marriage was popular to many." Tiffany exclaimed as she almost choked on her graham cheesecake. You cringed at her.
"Yes, unfortunately he already scheduled a meeting with my fiancé. It's even just after the wedding! What am I supposed to do?" You sighed as you stopped eating your blueberry cheesecake. Tiffany took a long sip of her cold-iced coffee before speaking.
"I know!"
Your eyes lit up as she cheered as if she thought of a very good plan.
"You can just meet him to tell him that you already have someone you love and leave dramatically with tears in your eyes! That will make him leave you alone, right? He'll let your father know that and your father will understand how much you love Kai! He won't be a hindrance anymore!" Tiffany narrated her fantastic plan with a proud grin. You slumped your shoulders as you looked down.
"Like it's that easy." You mumbled, stabbing your cheesecake with your fork. "Father will never allow that."
Tiffany noticed your sudden gloominess, making her feel sad too. You're like a sister to her already.
"Just try meeting the guy and don't beat around the bush, just tell him you don't want that arrangement. I'm sure if he's a decent guy, he'll understand you and won't force you to do anything that you don't want." Tiffany reached for your hands and held them with a comforting smile. You smiled back.
"Thank you, unnie. You're right, I'll just do that."
"But have you informed Kai about that? Does he know about it? I mean, he has the right to know since you two have a thing, right?
Tiffany's question made you feel like hitting your head on the wall hard. You didn't want Kai to know about this. You want to handle this by yourself. You do not want to bother Kai since you know he has so many important things to do rather than worrying about this arranged marriage your father made, because he should know by now that he's the only one you want to be with forever.
You want to solve this problem by yourself.
That's why I'll do it.
"I'll do that, unnie. I'll talk to that guy and tell him that arranged marriage is too old for me to follow!" You said with a determined face.
"You didn't even answer my question." Tiffany pouted, playfully biting your hand. You awkwardly laughed.
"Actually, I didn't tell him about this. I don't want to make him worry about it. He has his own problems too, that's why I'd like to face this obstacle head-on just like how he does to his own."
Tiffany nodded in agreement.
"You're more mature than I thought."
"Was that supposed to be a compliment, unnie?"
"Yes, it is! If you haven't noticed, you're like the unnie here not me!"
"Yah!"
Your best friend left but that doesn't mean you'll be alone already.
"Unnie..." Tiffany turned to you as she happily chewed on her food. "I think I'm resigning."
She stopped on chewing and stared at you with wide eyes. You bit your lip, looking down as you prepared yourself for her angry shouts and complaints.
But they never came.
"Why are you closing your eyes, idiot? Isn't that rude?"
You instantly opened your eyes, surprised that Tiffany didn't get mad at you. Instead, she was smiling and gently squeezed your hands.
"I think following your dream is the best decision you'll ever make, Lin. I know how hard it was for you, enduring everything by yourself. It's time to give yourself a reward."
You almost cried as she told you that, you gripped on her hands tighter with a grin.
"Thank you, unnie."
♫ ❧ ♫ ❧ ♫ ❧ ♫ ❧ ♫
The weeks passed by so quick that you didn't even realize that today's the wedding day of your father and Aunt Ji Hyo. You and your father haven't talked since his announcement of your schedule with your fiancé. You didn't know how to approach him but you hope Aunt Ji Hyo has convinced him with your plans. You already passed your resignation letter to Minseok last week after the summer outing, making your co-workers complain.
You remember how Dara hugged you as if she'll never see you again, how the young part-timers whined at you for not being with you a little longer, how Jongdae smiled sadly but encouraged you anyway for your studies as he says that education is more important than working, how Minseok pouted as you passed him your resignation letter, and how Tiffany patted you on the back as you cried because of their sweet goodbyes.
"How can you get up late, noona?!" Taeyong barged inside your room like a boss. You eyed him from head to toe, observing how the white suit, white polo, white pants, gray belt and pale blue necktie were worn perfectly in on his tall lean body. His hair was styled, the hair gel making it shine.
Your little brother was gonna break hearts for sure.
Or maybe he already is.
"Looking good there, bro." You chuckled as you stood up. Taeyong kept on complaining how late you woke up, telling you that he's been up since 5 in the morning.
"What did you even do last night?!"
"I arranged everything I'll need when I get my flight ticket to Singapore, Tae. The books, school supplies, new clothes, essentials and etcetera. I forgot that today's the wedding." You yawned, pulling your hair tie off your hair.
He stopped moving, staring at you as if you told him the most shocking news ever. You got your towel from your closet and heard a knock.
"Come in."
Two ladies walked inside your room with bags on their hands. They're the hairstylist and make-up artist that were assigned for you. You nodded at them in greeting.
"Goodmorning, Lin-ssi."
"Please wait for me here. You can sit on my bed." You replied, waving at them before getting inside your bathroom. Taeyong just stood there as he let his mind take in what you've just said.
"She's leaving?" He mumbled to himself as he walked out of the room.
Hours passed by, you looked at the mirror in front of you and blinked in surprise. The two ladies grinning in success behind you.
"You look enchanting, Lin-ssi!" Yoora, the hairstylist, said as she looked at your reflection.
"I knew it. You'll look so great with my skillful hands!" Hana, the make-up artist, squealed in delight.
"Thank you, Yoora unnie and Hana unnie. You both made me look beautiful today."
"No, no! We just enhanced your natural beauty and made you look so much more beautiful!" Yoora argued, arranging the things they've used.
"Yes, that's right. It's a wedding, you should at least look pretty even though you're not the one getting married." Hana said, nodding to herself. You stood up and got your dress from your closet.
"I'll go change now."
Wedding bells rang as a sign of the end of the ceremony, making the crowd follow the newly wedded couple outside. Petals of roses fell from the sky as flower girls and boys threw them in joy, making you stop and look at them.
"Hey, why are you staring like an idiot there?" Tiffany's face suddenly appeared in front of you. "Your pretty face would be a waste if you don't showcase it around!"
"You know I have Kai, okay? Don't influence me, unnie."
"He's not here anyway." Tiffany mumbled, eyeing the guests that walked past her.
"That doesn—"
Your phone suddenly rang loudly as you two walked out of the chapel. Cars drove off to get to the wedding reception, located at the hotel near your home. Tiffany stopped as well and stood beside you. You picked up your phone with a grunt.
"This is Lin speaking."
"Where are you and who's with you?" Sehun's deep voice welcomed you, surprising you.
"The wedding ceremony just ended. I'm with your sister. We're on the way to the hotel. Why?" You asked, glancing at Tiffany, who just shrugged.
"Jongin's not there?"
Your eyebrows knitted in confusion at his question.
"No, he didn't want to come. He said he has something to do today."
"Well, I was weirded out by Jongin. He told me he's gonna meet someone on the afternoon. I thought it was you but then I remembered, today's your father's wedding."
Your eyes widened, taking in what Sehun said.
"Anyway, never mind. Sorry to bother you. Tell your father congratulations for me—"
"Did he say where he was going?" Panic rushed through your veins.
He's not cheating on me, right? We haven't been communicating that much but he won't think of doing that to me, right?
"He didn't. But I think he's still at your old dorm. I heard he's gonna leave at 2 in the after—"
"Okay, thanks."
You quickly hung up and turned to Tiffany.
"I'm going." You said as you ran towards the sidewalk, planning to wait for a taxi.
"Where are you going?!" Tiffany shouted.
"Just let the driver drive you to the hotel. I'll take a taxi!"
"What?!"
"Just go!" You've managed to stop a taxi and hopped in quickly. You told him the address of your dorm and bit your lip,
"I hope he's still there."
After an hour, the taxi stopped in front of your dorm. You paid the driver and got out. You saw a familiar blue Maserati GranTurismo parked in front, a silhouette was seen on the driver's seat. You walked on its window and gently knocked.
A man with glasses appeared as the window rolled down.
"May I help you?" He asked with a blank face, probably confused inside when he observed your outfit.
"Is Kai still here?" You asked him, his eyes slightly widening.
"How do you know Mr. Kim—"
"I'll just see for myself then."
You walked towards the gates and pushed it, seeing it was opened. You barged inside the dorm and saw Kai walking down the stairs in a formal attire. He was putting on his neck tie clumsily as he got on the end of the stairs. He seems like he's in a rush.
"Kai..." You called out, breathing in and out. As you called his name softly, his head quickly turned to you.
"What are you doing here?!" He almost shrieked like a girl, weirding you out.
Sehun's right. I'm getting weirded out by his reaction too.
"Where are you going?" You calmly asked, taking a seat on the couch you missed so much. Kai walked over to you and kissed your forehead.
"I have someone important to meet."
"Who's important?"
"Aish. Why do you have to be here? Don't you have to be somewhere right now? You didn't even change your clothes. Did you go here in a rush?" Kai whined, looking at your dress. Your feet actually hurt from all the running you did earlier but you feel satisfied you got in time before Kai leaves.
"Well, Sehun called me—"
"He called you? What did he tell you? Did he say something weird?"
"You are acting weird, you devil. You didn't tell me you're meeting someone today. Not even accompanying me on the ceremony. What kind of lover are you?" You scoffed, poking his stomach and blushing when you felt his abs. Kai chuckled at your actions, pinching your cheeks.
"Let's go now then."
"Hey, wait!" You squealed when he picked you up like you're both a newly wedded couple. "How did you even know I—"
The driver opened the door at the backseat and let Kai put you down, sitting beside you after.
"Questions will be entertained later, babe." Kai shushed you as he nuzzled his nose with yours, making you shut up. "Be a good girl now." He gently kissed your lips, smirking as you hummed in reply.
Of course, your phone should be ringing at that moment, interrupting your heated kissing scene with your devil dancer.
You groaned as you answered your phone with a frown, making Kai giggle beside you. You glared at him.
"Hello—"
"Where are you now?!" Your father's voice boomed on the line, making you lean away from your phone.
"Shit. I forgot about the meeting." You whispered to yourself. Kai tilted his head as he watch you curse at yourself.
"I-I'm sorry, appa. I'm on my way." You stuttered, glancing at Kai.
"You better be. Don't make your fiancé wait. I'll be expecting good news later when you get home."
With that, your father hung up, making you sigh in relief. You put your phone back in your pouch. You leaned your back, feeling the soft cushion comfort you.
"Can you please drop me off at Exodus Hotel? I have an appointment there. My father wants me to attend... Argh." You mumbled, looking away from Kai's questioning stare.
"What kind of appointment?"
You gulped as Kai asked the question you've been fearing of from him.
"U-Uhm. About his company?" You answered uncertainly, nervously laughing it off.
"You're interested in business now?"
"Not really."
You swore you heard Kai chuckle under his breath like he's refraining to laugh at you.
"What's so funny?" You whined, hitting his bicep.
"You, baby."
You rolled your eyes as a smile crept up on your lips.
"Tss."
"We're here, sir." The car stopped in front of the hotel, 'Exodus' was elegantly carved on the entrance of the building.
"I'll get off here, Kai. Thank you—"
Kai held your hand and got out of the car with you. He crouched down to look at his driver.
"Pick us up later before 5, okay?"
The driver nodded and drove off after Kai closed the door. You watched in horror as the car got off your sight.
"Come on, babe. Your fiancé's waiting."
Kai smirked, dragging you inside the luxurious hotel.
Oh my fucking shit.

PART 4: Tall Tails, Rambling Yarns
"Do you offer any gluten free toppings for the vegan ice cream?" A guest wearing a beanie and striped sweater asks at the counter. Harper smiles.
"Yes ma'am. All the syrups, the chocolate chips, dark and gold raisins, nuts and if you want, we can crumble a gluten free cookie on top. But the graham crackers and Pirouline wafer sticks, mostly the unspecified items, are not gluten free" she explains, pointing out the items on the big chalkboard menu above the wall counter with all the kitchen appliances.
"Thanks. Fantastic" says the guest.
Anekke excuses herself and leaves from behind the counter. Pradeep watches as he pulls on a pair of see through gloves.
"These better be the nitrile ones. Boris knows I'm allergic to latex" he mumbles. "You should let Kitt know. You know, just in case" says Harper.
"Excuse me?" Says Pradeep, putting down a measuring cup harder than intended. "What's going on? You keep mentioning Kitt"
"Huh? You said something?"
Pradeep scowls, unimpressed with Harper's faux oblivion. In fact, it was getting under his skin. People must really be jealous that he and Kitt actually have something. That they are real friends and actually enjoy one anothers company. Harper had no right to try and be like Anekke, who was closer to Pradeep and allowed to joke about him and Kitt. Harper was trying too hard to be "one of the guys" and it was ticking Pradeep off.
He prepares a customer's order of rooibos tea and oatmeal raisin cookies on a wooden tray, and decorates the edges of the tray with a few fake Fall leaves. The customer takes the order and pays, then resumes a spot at one of the tables.
He watches Harper hand the gluten free customer their kawaii styled ice cream order in a pretty parfait glass. As usual, the ice cream scoop is decorated with a cat face using chocolate syrup. She always did it the best since she went to art school. He had to give her that. At least she had some kind of talent to make up for her lack of social graces.
He then turns his attention to the thump of Kitt's heavy booted footfalls. Such a tiny girl made such a sound. He smiles slightly, wiping down the greasy wooden counter.
Kitt says something to Carl who then heads to the back and downstairs. Pradeep runs the back of his neck and shrugs.
Anekke comes back to the bar and washes her hands over the stainless steel sink against the wall.
"So Stephen's letting me take the extra hours" she boasts.
"Excellent" says Pradeep. "You can't leave me here with them"
"Oh gosh I know"
"Hmmm..." Pradeep pulls out the folded daily program from his pants pocket. "Kumlyun has downstairs now? No wonder she fell off the map"
"That's the best post if you ask me. Especially for her" she says with a sneer. "I could do 3 whole slots there except having to overhear Boris on the phone yelling at his son gives me a headache"
Pradeep laughs.
"I have break with you downstairs" Kitt says to Carl when he returns to the floor. "If you need to talk" she adds, slowly, wary. "I'm just waiting for Kumlyun and Humbert to relieve us"
"Oh, right, Humbert takes my post" says Carl, examining his daily program, which he only folded in half and managed to fit it in his pants pockets.
"Uh. I wish I had pockets that deep" says Kitt, chewing the inside of her cheek. She throws a glance back at Gary Nygard who appears to be enjoying his relative privacy and lack of attention that Kitt has tried for the past hour to maintain.
"Hi" Carl says to Humbert who steps next to him silently, holding out his hand. Carl goes to shake it but he moves it away and points at the lanyards hanging from Carl's other pocket.
"Those should go in the apron pocket. Did Stephen or Boris give you an apron?"
"I don't have on my half apron, Humbert. It's okay. Its Carl's first day" Kitt cuts in. Humber hurrumphs as Carl hands him the lanyards.
"Protocol is protocl" he grumbles. "Good luck" he says to Carl. Kumlyun appears, poking Kitt in the arm.
"You're good to go girl" says Kumlyun, wiping her hands on her corduroy skirt. She must have eaten something crumby.
"Let's go Carl. We need this lunch more than ever" says Kitt, dating towards the back staircase. "Oh crap, Pradeep" she mutters. Carl awkwardly heads towards the staircase, looking back. Kitt goes to Pradeep at the bar.
"Kittie MacIntyre with the caramel glaze and raspberry on top. Enjoy babysitting so far?" Pradeep asks.
"Pradeep Gupta. Out here looking like a Bollywood snack with those perfect eyebrows...." Kitt teases back. "Carl is really not so bad. He's... bewildered all the time but he's a sweet guy. It could be that he's new"
Pradeep moves his head side to side and shrugs. "If you say so. Let me know how it goes with Mr Carl a.k.a Clark"
Kitt pinches Pradeep's shoulder playfully before taking her hidden box of muffins from under the counter, then striding towards the staircase. She sees Harper grimace in disgust before she disappears down the stairs.
"Hating a*s Buzzfeed looking b---" Kitt stops herself as she bumps into Boris while descending the single flight of steps. "Oh! Sorry!" She says quickly. Boris ruvs his shiny bald head, adjusts his tortoise shell glasses and goes up towards the office, uttering not a single word.
Kitt shakes off her chill and enters the breakroom with its cozy lit scented candles, cat scratching posts and junky arrangement. She takes a seat on one of the couches and unfolds one of the wooden tray tables from against the wall.
She watches as Carl sits on the couch next to her and does the same. They take out their lunches in silence. The sounds of containers opening and tea pouring fills in the thick warm air.
"So, how do you like it so far?" Kitt asks.
"Huh? The veggie wrap?"
"No. The job"
"Oh, I like it so far. Got my allergies under control, getting used to the schedule, and the atmosphere is really something. Everyone is so friendly. The customers are quirky and bring books to read. It's great" he says before taking another big bite of his tofu scramble wrap, picking up slivers of sundried tomato that escaped the filling and popping them in his mouth.
Kitt focused hard on her oatmeal, trying not to ask the invasive questions she had for Carl. Looking at him, he was an above average attractive man in his early 20s, with a small beard, parted dark hair and kind blue eyes. He wore a semi-fitted button down and hoodie with black chinos, and comfortable looking loafers.
There was no reason to fault him for his naivety or clumsiness. It's just quite possible that he's used to being an only child, spending a lot of time with his parents.
"Are you a homebody?" Kitt asks before she could stop herself.
"Yeah, how'd you guess?" Carl asks, sipping coffee from his thermos loudly, concluding the gulp with an impressed "mmmm that's good mocha"
"Just guessing. I'm into MBTI and stuff. I like trying to place personalities going by subtle signs. I guess I read too much Psychology Today in my high school library years ago"
Carl grins genuinely. "I used to too. Mostly looking to see if I could find things I could relate to, and I guess to try to understand people, but, it's still a mystery. The way brains work"
"Right" says Kitt, running her fingers through and pulling her long burgundy dreads over her shoulder. To Carl she looked swallowed by her hair. Which dwarfed her frame more than her scarf and cardigan. Her fingers looked so dainty bringing spoonfuls of goopy oatmeal to her glossy mouth.
He didn't mention anything about earlier. Kitt was a combination of relieved and curious at the same time. Was it true? Was he really.....? She texted Pradeep, asking him if he wanted to drive her to Food Emporium after work.
"I like how eco conscious this place is. Paper straws, cloth napkins..."
The word napkins jolts Kitt out of her slight daze. Her ears perk up.
"Everything being reusable. The takeout boxes being compostable. I mean it's really something" Carl continues. "Hey. Sorry if I'm rambling. I could stop if you want-"
"Oh it's fine, really" says Kitt, scrolling her Twitter profile on her phone, tweeting away about Gary Nygard being gorgeous in real life and how shimmery lip gloss was only found in nude colors.
"Smells like maca. Do you put maca powder in your oatmeal?" Carl asks.
Kitt rolls her eyes but at her phone.
"Yeah. Need the extra vitamins or whatever. Pradeep put me on to it. But he literally puts everything in his oatmeal. I make fun of him for adding turmeric. Like he'll eat pizza flavored oatmeal, no lie" says Kitt.
Carl laughs.
"That doesn't sound too bad. It's kind of like soup right?"
"No. It's like cereal. Gross" says Kitt. She texts Pradeep about that too. Pradeep texts back with,
[Now you're telling him my business? I've got something for you if you keep that up]
Kitt grins widely at the implications.
"Wow time flies" says Carl as his phone alarm goes off. "It couldn't hurt to have an extra ten minutes. 30 minutes is so short. My internship gave us a whole hour"
"Ugh. I wish. But no. We're not that lucky. And frankly, we don't get paid enough to eat into our schedules. Ugh. Life at Cat Cafe" says Kitt, putting her empty insulated bowl, spoon and such into her lunch tote and bringing it to the sink to quickly wash what she could.
"Is it really time?" She asks over the sound of the gushing faucet.
"Five minutes till post" says Carl, folding up his table and tossing his brown paper bag into the paper recyclables bin, and the spotless foil into the glass, plastic and metals bin.
"That was great. Really great" he adds before heading up the stairs. Kitt watches, then puts her washed and dried stuff into her locker.
