hello hi, i had never read anything for timkon before ever in my life until i stumbled across art for bbts that intrigued me and then i promptly read the whole thing in a night (and ruined my sleep schedule). you are a genius and your writing is masterful. take your time with the next update because i know a story like this takes a lot of effort and dedication and it will most certainly be worth a wait <3 but meanwhile, i wanted to ask if you have any timkon fic recs since i am now incredibly invested in these two (when/if you have a spare moment :)

🗞️ The Plan by Hayleythewriter

in which conner kent fake-dates superboy, and ends up real-dating tim in the process. like all of @hearteyeshayley’s fics, the plot is snappy and fun with the best kind of mad genius weirdo tim characterization. the timkon dynamic is sweet and hilarious, and i especially love kon’s relationship with the kents here (there’s a line of dialogue from jon that made me laugh out loud at 3am). alsoooo the restaurant scene is, to me, peak timkon. go forth and enjoy the good food here.

💸 call me cute and feed me sugar by suzukiblu (wip)

last month an anon with very good taste recommended another one of this author’s fics to me, and in the process of looking for it i ended up reading this first and it is a delight. in superboy’s early-ish days, tim notices that kon doesn’t have a real support system yet/is still dependent on cadmus for room and board, and tim sets out to fix that in the most convoluted tim way possible. premise is hilarious and so is the fic, and it’s also sweet and emotional and has enough subtle angst to keep me on the hook too. fav line so far: “Tim thinks taking care of someone for the entire rest of their life is perfectly romantic, actually, but fine, he'll buy some damn aquarium tickets and then do the bank fraud.”

🧟 Young Justice: A Little Help From My Friends by Hayleythewriter (wip)

this one is weighted more evenly on the tim & kon & cassie & bart ensemble, and it’s incredibly fun so far. it’s a retake on young justice’s rocky road toward being a functional team—and, more importantly, friends—with some very compelling slow-burn timkon in which kon does not like robin at first (for some understandable reasons from his pov) and tim’s dreams of having instant superhero bffs like nightwing are crashing and burning around him. there are some tim pangs scattered throughout that are 🤌 very much to my taste 🤌 and i adore how messy and real all four characters are in this. (the emoji choice will make sense after reading, i swear.)

i just got an email notification that someone just followed/subscribed to the sga/bbt wip on ff.net that i last updated in may of 2010 (and the last time i posted ANYTHING on that account was from 2010???), and:

BBT gave us all the perfect opportunity but I have never seen a fic touching on Yusie being able to see the pre Zero Reverse world.

Where is my Yugi and Judai taking Yusie to see the world that was destroyed by his father’s energy plant? The world he never got to see cos it all went up in smoke the day he was born? A world where he isn’t looked down on for his family name?

Let them give him a tour. Let him see the man who built the Kaiba dome he discovered his signer mark in. The man who created the game he loves so dearly and see the four great champions duelists in their heyday even if just from afar. Heck that last one would be awesome for Judai as well. Let Yugi take these baby duelists to see the big leagues before they go home.

And where’s my fic of them finding each other in the future. We’ve established that Judai is immortal and I refuse to believe Yugi went out like a chump in Zero Reverse so where’s Judai getting back to his time only to find Yugi waiting for him and the same with Yusie once he gets a moment alone from his friends?

We need more fics of the ygo bois hanging out together. You hear me internet??? We were handed the golden opportunity to write inexplicable crossover stories and crack adventures and by god I want to read that.

I, for one, am attempting to (slowly) do my part, with my wip that I've talked about a little bit on here: Dear Fellow Traveler. The fic I started writing before I even watched BBT solely because the phrase "Jaden and Yusei roadtrip" popped into my head and refused to leave.

Some of my favorite scenes I've written so far are me having to take a step back and ask myself "Well. How much does Yusei even know about a pre-zero reverse world?" Could he, if pressed, operate a diesel vehicle? Has he ever seen a carnival when it's active, not just a run down spooksfest like we see on Satellite in the dark signer arc? Bonds Beyond Time takes places right before the crashtown arc, so he's never even been outside of Domino City.

I think he deserves to see the stars.

This fic is also a blast to write because you couple that curiosity about the world with Jaden Yuki, a guy who does not know what normal human behaviors are and will absolutely never learn. Shenanigans, inevitably, ensue.

What are your writing strengths? I've been told I'm good at dialogue and keeping everyone in-character.

What are your writing weaknesses? Plot. It's so much easier for me to write missing-scene type stuff or just a character's inner thoughts during canon events. Sort of going along with that, I'm awful at writing anything lengthy. I'll get to like 1000 words and be like 'okay yep I've said everything I wanted to say.'

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language? I don't think I ever really have? I feel like if I do it will end up being Klingon lol.

faraway look is my wip big bang! i started it in 2020, it’s an it (2017/2019) canon divergence , which is not normally my thing but i always wanted to come back to this idea and am super excited to finish and publish it soon

breathe in breathe through is a ygo gx fic! it’s several years postcanon and post-bbt, and in retrospect it was ummmm in direct response to some emotions and problems i was having re: grad school. but it’s an asuka (and asuka/jim) centric character study about like. what happens when you fall out of love with the thing you’ve spent your whole life doing

How does the government system in your WIP work? What type is it (is it a monarchy, or theocracy, or democracy, etc), how are laws passed, how are new leaders/rulers chosen, how does the justice system operate, etc etc?

Gonna talk about the Elemental Republic in BBtS, since that's the one I've developed the most.

The Republic's government is a democracy based on its military and governed by a Council of 13 members, one for each element of bending. The Councilors are technically the highest-ranking officials, though they don't actively participate in the army life; they're more supervisors.

Between other high-ranking officials, there's a pool of possible candidates for the role of Councilor. When a Councilor dies or steps down, the remaining members draw a vote, keeping in mind any preference the ex-Councilor may have expressed.

Laws are formally submitted by the Council and then passed through a referendum. There's little need for broad laws regarding rights, though, since the Republic is free of discrimination. The propositions are often about minor tweaks for efficiency purpose, rather than what we're used to.

The Republic has a reformation justice system, so there aren't any prisons. No punishment, only education and social work to strengthen the connection to the community. Before the terrorist attacks in book one of BBtS, crime is at an all time low anyway, and the 'criminals' usually consist of, like... two dudes (gender neutral) who got into a fisticuffs or kids who stole apples from a fruit stand.

Shenny! All the other titles looked interesting but then I saw Shenny and my heart leaped. Talk about it please!

That would be my Sheldon/Penny BBT fic Penny’s Code Of Condust For Sheldon Cooper that I havent update since January, lol. Its been a while since I rewatched the show and i’ve been distracted by other fandoms. 

The premise for the fic is that since Sheldon likes contracts so much, and responds well to rules and structures, Penny makes her own contract/friendship agreement for him to sign. largely to get him off her back about things he wont shut up about and to make him less annoying. They actually help him understand how to be a better friend tho and it helps the two grow closer. Its supposed to get shippy but I keep failing to actually work anything beyond friendliness into it. By Ch. 8 a reader actually commented like “slow burn is great but there’s gotta be a little heat to spark it!” lol 

Here’s a WIP snippet that hasn’t made it into any chapters yet:

“Friends help each other, Sheldon. Like when everyone helped with that huge Penny Blossoms order. Or when you loaned me that money.”

“Or that time when you went to San Diego to help me get my World of Warcraft character back.”

“Yup.” Penny said, popping the ‘P’ and giving Sheldon a grin before she turned to unlock her door.

As Penny made her way to her bedroom to change out of her work uniform, Sheldon settled into his chosen seat. He had not re-examined that occasion with the new knowledge he had both of the social conventions surrounding friendship, and the added insight into Penny herself he had recently gained.

A GOOD friend would have come to San Diego to pick them up. But only a truly great friend would have invested themself in the boys’ original goal the way she had. It wasn’t her fight, wasn’t her video game account. At the time Leonard couldn’t bring himself to call his own romantic partner for assistance for fear of being mocked. But Penny had understood.

Penny always seemed to try to understand.

Penny, who hadn’t played video game before she met the boys but still threw herself into Age of Conan. It had been quite enjoyable questing as Sheldor with Queen P at his side, until she had become rather obsessive about it. She hadn’t wanted to risk a repeat and had refused to try World of Warcraft herself but she had never made fun of Sheldon for his investment in his character. She had committed actual physical violence to get it back for him.

To say Penny was a good friend was to greatly understate her value and abilities in that area.
