it's so interesting how klaus handles his romances. taking the loyalty from stephan when he wouldn't give it willingly. and then when it came to caroline when he craved her loyalty as well instead this time he confessed he adored her and would wait until the end of time for her to give it to him. which is just a wild jump from one end to the other. this man truly only works in extremes.

No but fr. I was watching more episodes and having thinky thoughts about this. Sorry took me a bit to get back to you, nonnie! I think when Klaus decided to pursue Caroline, he thought he might stick around for the long run. His mother was back, his whole family was there, Mikael was gone. They were all about starting over or whatever. I think in that very naive moment, he thought he might actually settle down in Mystic Falls for a bit and try to rebuild what he'd lost in New Orleans, so he tried a different approach with Caroline, seeing as things with Stefan had kinda gone all sorts of wrong.

You can see he loses his shit a few times, but then holds back just before he does something rash. It was pretty clear things wouldn't work with Caroline the way they did with Stefan before. She wasn't gonna fall for his bad attitude, wasn't gonna let his bs slide and was also not gonna join the dark side of the force with him. And I think he respected Caroline for that. He always saw how strong she was, how much character she had, and that was truly what drew him to her. Klaus may be whatever Klaus may be, but I don't think he would've ruined something he thought was beautiful (in every sense of the way). He *fancied* her, as he said. It was more than just physical attraction, he genuinely thought she was interesting. If he tried to compel her loyalty, he would kill everything he liked about her. So he didn't.

But I also think there might be a thing there to be said about honesty. He liked that Caroline was not just honest, but unafraid to speak her truth, which is something not a lot of people did in front of Klaus. Not even Stefan back in the 20s. Stefan was sly AF. He was there for a good time, not for any realness. And if you consider Klaus' whole fear of abandonment issues, the way he treated his family, how he wanted to build himself a hybrid army to surround himself with undestructible immortals, it implies he was a very lonely person, and in spite of his bravado and the face he put forward, how he wanted people to believe he was above all these things, it wasn't something he appreciated. Seeing the Scooby gang fighting for each other, seeing Rebekah and Elijah becoming tight again and hating on him, seeing how totally devoted to Elena Stefan was, and also how Caroline was just willing to fight for her friends, I think Klaus might have envied that. He probably wanted to have that too, people who would fight tooth and nail for him because they wanted, not because he compelled them to, or because they were sired to him. He valued family a lot, and that's what family was. So I also think there might have been a part of him that wished Caroline would come to feel that way for him, and knew that he would never have it if he tried to pry it from her by force.

For all his mistakes and flaws, Klaus was very generous towards Caroline, in a way. He saw her, understood her, knew there was a part of her that longed for more than the small town life, but also knew that she was a very young vampire who still had some human life to burn before she was truly free. And he was just willing to wait for her to be ready.

You get kai and bonnie so much together and individually everything you say fits them in canon so well it's too bad the writers really fumbled with them because when kai showed up he was a breath of fresh air and the best part about him is he's all about bonnie that was new and realistic bonkai was their last shot at getting the vampire diaries interest back up again

AH thank you so much for this lovely message, you're so sweet!! Yes, it really is such a shame the writers fumbled Bonkai bc it rly did seem like they had some great ideas there in the beginning, but the execution fell flat :( I feel like Kai was a breath of fresh air not just for us fans but also the cast & crew! U could rly feel their spark of new excitement for a dying show when kai showed up bc i think they all sensed that he was unique and different from the tired, recycled plotlines they'd had since S4.

Ian in particular seemed much more interested in his scenes when Kai was around (and much more lifeless when he wasn't) and Bonnie ofc was *given* much more interesting scenes when Kai was around, compared to prior seasons. Even Alaric & Jo, who started S6 as rick's new boring romance of the season, became relevant, layered and interesting bc of their links to Kai. Like rick loved to play the hero & act like damon was morally beneath him in S6 but his need to protect Jo from Kai brought out a selfish streak that made him go behind Jo & her fam's back to make shady deals w Damon & Kai as long as it kept Jo safe! Even Jo was revealed to be quite crafty considering her backstory of how she tricked & betrayed Kai in 1994, which made her much more interesting than her early role as rick's bland gf.

Even Liv & Luke were (im sorry) SO BORING in S5 but 1000x more interesting in S6 once their story got linked to Kai. His existence single-handedly linked so many disjointed characters & plotlines from previous seasons (like why'd they even bring Rick back after dying in S3? His relationship w Jo (and by extension, Kai) was the only thing that made him relevant for the rest of the goddamn show)! Even the Heretics were introduced to the show through KAI & the gemini/siphoner lore and fully lost steam as soon as Kai wasn't there to make 'em interesting!

As for Kai's links to Bonnie, ya i agree she rly was their last chance to make things interesting bc they'd already given Elena & Caroline "dark" romances that fans were too attached to to accept anything else (see: Delena being forced to stay together; Steroline forever being overshadowed in most fans' minds by Klaroline) so giving Elena & Caroline new pairings would've disappointed fans, whereas Bonnie was a blank slate they could've gone WILD with bc none of her canon pairings had strongly attached fans... yet they gave Elena & Caroline new romances anyway and scrapped Bon's romance with Kai :)))

That is what felt malicious. In S6 alone, they gave Elena who ALREADY HAD DAMON the new guy Liam, then gave Caroline the same guy Liam, Enzo (briefly) AND Stefan, whereas Bon *almost* got Kai & *fully* lost Jeremy in S6. ??? Any writer who paid half as much attention to her fans as Plague did (considering how much ott fan-service she wrote into tvd & how many twitter fights she got into w fans whose ships she disapproved of) HAD to have known her fans wouldn't accept Caroline/Enzo, Care/Stef, Care/Liam or Elena/Liam as much as they loved Care/Klaus & Elena/Damon. Yet she did it anyway bc she preferred LOSING FANS to giving Bonnie someone interesting!

She even planned Kai to be Bon's love interest in S6 bc she thought he wouldn't be popular w fans & instantly torpedoed that once she noticed fans' love for him bc, as I said before, Plague PAID ATTENTION to her fans' reactions. So fans having lukewarm feelings about Steroline was enough to get 'em married, but fans LIKING Kai was enough to get Bonkai axed. It's a common joke that Plague saw Caroline as her self-insert (neurotic, hyper-organized blonde control-freak) which is why she dated more men than even Elena. But I think a large chunk of tvd's white teen girl fans saw Care as a self-insert too (bc w each subsequent season, Caroline was increasingly written & designed that way, which is why fans turned on tvd's original self-insert, Elena, & worshipped Care instead).

Her "im never the one, im not perfect like elena" insecurities made her a blank canvas for (white) girls to see themselves in, which is why she wins Miss Mystic Falls, why she's a privileged Founding Fam member, why she gets to dress fancy & go to Mikaelson balls that have nothing to do w her, why she gets ALL the men, why she becomes the 1st vampire to be pregnant, why she gets to marry Stefan (then instantly lose him so she can go kiss Klaus in the spin-off), why she gets to be tvd's last vampire standing, why she repeatedly gets to have her cake and eat it too. By presenting Elena as "perfect/ideal" & Caroline as an "underdog," fans naturally sympathized more with Care's "struggle" (even tho she repeatedly got EVERYTHING!) Based on this, Plague refused to let ppl like Klaus date Bonnie (which would've made sense) but shoved him w Caroline (which didn't make narrative sense) bc that gave her & white fans the chance to see themselves in Care & feel like THEY were dating Klaus.

(Btw I wanna add that I actually do like & enjoy Caroline! This is a critique of the shadiness that went into *writing* Caroline, not a critique of Caroline herself)

Similarly, Kai was allowed to want Bonnie as long as fans didn't like him, but once he got popular, Plague killed Bonkai bc she believed that she & her (white) fans wouldn't be able to see themselves in Bonnie and feel like THEY were the ones dating Kai. But Kai was not Klaus, Stefan, Damon, Enzo or Kol. His character was CONCEIVED w Bonnie in mind to the point that erasing his obsession w her would make him not even feel like KAI anymore. And that wouldn't work bc fans wanted gucci kai, not walmart kai. Also, his general personality quirks were just not the type that would vibe w Caroline. Chris Wood said it himself, "Kai likes to be the one who talks, he doesn't like to listen, so I think Caroline might make him wanna snap her neck & move on" bc Caroline ALSO likes to talk. So writing him w Care would change Kai too much & writing him w Elena was not an option bc Delena was set in stone & Nina was leaving. So, how'd plague have her cake & eat it too? She refused to let Bon have Kai, and bc there was no other white girl who made sense for him, she kept Kai eternally single so white fans could eternally imagine themselves w him.

And uk what's the worst part? I don't believe all white fans would've necessarily struggled to see themselves in Bonnie if she'd dated Kai. I think Bonnie being the ACTUAL underdog struggler of the show made her very relatable to people, regardless of what your race is (esp bc tvd rarely addressed her race or centered any plotlines on it). I think Plague's own subconscious biases just made it impossible for her to fathom seeing herself in a PoC character, which is why she wrongly assumed all her majority white fans worked the same way & letting Bonkai happen would've disappointed them & made them stop watching. (But that being said, even if it was just a "business decision" to her... isn't it funny how disappointing masses of white klaroline fans didn't stop her from tossing Care at stef, enzo, whoever she wanted, but ONLY stopped her when it came to Bonnie's ships (bc she was looking for excuses to scrap 'em anyway)? Oh plagueee ur biases are showing, girlieee)

👽 Strangest fic you ever written?

Honestly, in my opinion it’s probably a extremely crack MCU fic I wrote from a prompt from a friend of mine, that will never, ever see the light of day. It went so off the rails, honestly I think I threw in ten or so references to other fandoms in three or four paragraphs. I also tried to cram pack Fitzsimmons being somewhat related to MJ, and a bunch of AOS references into like one really awkward paragraph of spoken dialogue. Ya, it was bad, and really weird, and I’m still not sure why I ever wrote it.

😚 A fic you like writing more than other fics?

Out of all of my fics I have two universe that are especially my favorite to write in. The Hidden Heir universe, which is just a pet project back story for a one shot Idea I had in October of 2020, and nearly two years later I still haven't actually gotten there. 

And the second, is the backstory I have for Tribrids, Plural? The backstory is just some of my favorite Klaroline I have ever written, I just love the version of Caroline, and the secret aspects of the plot and how the impact the characters.

📺 Any references to other media that you put in your fics?

So, so many. Honestly, my writing style in general is so stacked full of references it’s hard to keep track. There are subtle things like pop culture references characters would never, ever make, in cannon, but I adore so they make them. And less subtle things like character names, for instance, names, I have a lot of references in the names I use. In fact, the entire Le fay bloodline is technically a reference to multiple incarnations of Morgana and my love of them.

Well… turns out I have a lot of opinions on characters I don’t even think strongly of. Who knew?

No joke, this is probably not as thorough as I like, but this idea came to me and I have so much to say that I don’t know how to structure it. Okay? Let’s talk about Damon Salvatore!

If you read any of my previous posts, you’ve probably gotten a decent idea of how I feel about him from my quick snippy remarks. I genuinely believe he is the worst character in the show. Yes, other characters can be more boring than him. Yes, there are people that can be more infuriating than him. It’s not simply who his character was, it’s how the writers wouldn’t stop messing with him that convinced me he was utter trash. Sit back, cause this could take awhile.

Let’s start with season one and the two brothers. Theory time! I’m strongly of the opinion the writers wanted a love triangle between Elena, Stefan, and Damon from the very beginning. Not that crazy to believe considering this show was born off the heels of Twilight’s grossing fame, not to take credit away from all the other shows at the time which featured a love triangle or two. From fanfics to original stories written by tweens I read when I was thirteen, love triangles were huge back then (in a way they still are fairly popular, but not like back in the day. Now I feel old). So they wanted a love triangle? Sounds cliche enough to be in the vampire diaries, what’s wrong? Well, there’s a bit of an issue with the candidates, or more specifically candidate. You see, Edward was a creep and Jacob was an incel, but you can say they weren’t monsters (well by my standards they were, but by YA standards they were pretty normal). I mean, the movie made a point to say the Cullens didn’t feed from humans, and they’re only seen killing in self defense, meanwhile Jacob is treated like a good person throughout despite everything. My point is, at least at the beginning, the story didn’t want to paint either candidate as irredeemable. Back to tvd season one, Damon tortures Caroline, kills Zack, two random humans, and that one football coach/history teacher, mentally and physically tortured Vicky Donavon before turning her against her will and made it impossible for Stefan to remedy the situation until he ultimately had to kill her to save Elena, and this is all from the first seven episodes.

Now, I used to think at least Damon was a fun villain, but was he really? I mean, yeah he could be funny, got a few chuckles outta me, but besides humor and violence what was his character? For example, in season one we are introduced to Stefan, a supposed “good vampire” who has taken a liking to Elena due to similarities between her and his ex before admiring how much better of a person she is and wanting a true connection with her. We later learn that his experience with his ex Katherine was extremely one-sided as he was compelled to love her to satiate her needs. Even later (still season one), we learn that his only drinking animal blood is because he is a ripper or “blood addict” as I call it cause even one taste of human blood and he’ll go on a rampage. So by seasons end we have a character who was a victim of serious abuse (which is never truly addressed in the show btw) and carries a rare vampire trait that makes not being a murderous psychopath incredibly difficult, yet he still tries to beat the odds and not hurt people. This is a lot to learn about a character in its first season, and it helps us gravitate towards wanting him to succeed. Stefan is what you would call a good character (at least for now). So that was all we got on the first candidate, what about option number two? Well, he’s funny and he likes to kill people, that’s about it. That ripper gene that Stefan’s fighting, Damon’s not someone who gave in to the gene to explain why he’s so murder happy, he doesn’t even have it! There’s nothing making him be a bad person, he just is one! Why? Your guess is as good as mine. The most we get is learning he had real feelings for Katherine and was never compelled to love her as an explanation for why he hates Stefan so much. Wow, two brothers at war over a girl one of them doesn’t even like. You can’t even say it was because Stefan turned him, because Damon says it blank that it’s cause of Katherine in 1x20, so don’t. So Damon kills for no reason, hates Stefan for a stupid reason, and has no personality traits outside of humor, murder, Katherine, and hates Stefan. With all of this on the table, my question is this, how do the writers expect me to pick Damon over Stefan in this love triangle with everything we got in season one? And the writers realized this.

Season two starts this long “arc” asking if Damon can be redeemed, or that’s what the writers wanted. Second theory: the writers realized they couldn’t justify Elena picking Damon over Stefan without ruining her character (lol), so they decided the best way to keep this love triangle idea afloat was to redeem Damon. The theory comes in when they realized they couldn’t completely redeem him because they had written themselves into a corner and being a murdering psycho with quirky one liners was his entire character, therefore redeeming him would take away what made Damon himself and so likable among fans (not me). I’m gonna pull the rug from under ya, remember when I said klaroline was not actually a love story, but was positioned and is still believed to have been one despite this fact? Same applies here. Did Damon ever go through a redemption arc, or did the writers want you to think that he did so they could have their cake and eat it too? Is there any actual story progression that show growth in Damon as a character? Nope. He’s sadder, wouldn’t say that’s him being a better person. In the early seasons, his characterization feels more like a seesaw than an arc. Sometimes he’s chill and helping with a plan, and the next episode he’s biting a chunk out of more innocent bystanders while abusing more women (*cough* *cough* justice for Andie). The longest I can say he was a genuinely decent person was in season six when he was trapped in the prison world with Bonnie (cause she’s the only character that would put up with his bs). Everywhere else, an inconsistent character, and I feel like that was intentional. They wanted to keep Damon how fans liked him while making him seem like a better person. An example is the introduction of Enzo, which I think was a ploy by the writers to make it seem like season five Damon was interacting with a season one Damon to show how far he’s come, but that doesn’t stick at all (mostly because Enzo’s crimes in the show compared to season one Damon’s feel less psychotic and malicious). All in all, to me Damon on his own was a truly boring character and even more boring villain. No motivation and no personality outside his infatuations. Which leads me into the worst plot line of my entire cw experience: Delena.

If you haven’t noticed, I hate this ship with a fiery passion. The only reason I think it’s slightly better than klaroline was at least the writers tried to write a story with them (keyword tried). I said they would have to ruin Elena’s character to have her choose him over Stefan, and I was right! Not only does she cheat with him (2x22 and other scenes from season three), it’s never explained why she likes him in the first place (actually in season six they say it’s cause he gave her Stefan’s gift necklace despite being in love with her, which is so stupid it made me laugh). Furthermore, why does Damon develop feeling for Elena? Supposedly it happens while he’s still obsessing over Katherine, so is that it? The turning point which pushes them together is revealed to all be fabricated by a sirebond. For real, the only reason Elena fell out of love with Stefan is because a bond out of her control made it impossible for Stefan to help her through vampirism and thus she had to lean on Damon for support. I know the show states the bond didn’t create her feelings merely heighten them, but it did isolate her from everyone else she loved and made it so she had no choice but to rely on Damon, and that’s not exactly better than the former. Let me say it louder for the kids that were corrupted. Codependency. Is. Not. Healthy. It’s toxic, and the trope in romance needs to die a horrible death. And the show knows it’s toxic, they bring it up all the time in season five and six thinking that will excuse them to keep going with it. Sorry hun, self awareness does not give you a pass. The worst part is the pacing. I mentioned the sirebond storyline in season four which takes up a huge amount of the season with them debating if her feelings were real before abruptly deciding Elena doesn’t care. Great conclusion, but it gets worse. Season five is pretty thin as far as a story, so what fills the run time is a storyline straight out of fifty shades. Fighting, sex, fighting, sex, breaking up because they aren’t healthy, sex, fighting followed by getting back together followed by more fighting and more sex. I can’t tell you what was gained after everything that transpired in the season. Lastly is season six which took time away from the first interesting villain since season three to give us an amnesia storyline! I’d tell you more, but if you’ve ever seen a movie you could probably explain it exactly. All that time that could’ve been spent in better ways, was given to something I stopped caring about by season fours end.

Honestly, the fact that the show treats this like the greatest love story of all time makes me less angry and more concerned, because the audience who watched this show weren’t adults who understand what love really is, the people who watched this was made up of mostly tweens and teens. I can’t get too mad, this trope is everywhere, girl helps abusive guy be better person while sapping away all her energy in the process was done before and is still being done today. All I ask is that the young adults who remember this show fondly understand how wrong this is. How people like Damon should not be pitied and relationships like Delena should not be celebrated. Ship whatever you want, but please tell me you’re okay. Are you okay? In conclusion, Damon is trash and Delena wasted my time along with being extremely toxic and abusive. Goodnight everybody!

Psycho Kai x FemReader Fluff

Summary: Kai takes reader as a hostage while in a tantrum, but just as help comes- you get tired of Kai’s antics and give him what he really wants.

“Are you serious?!” He growled, kicking a nearby box over. You blinked rapidly, trying to come up with just what to say. You had let Elena go by creeping up when he was distracted- you didn’t mind if he had caught you either. For some twisted reason, this psycho seemed to have a soft spot for you. Of course, you never gave in. Why would you? He’s a sociopath- a psycho- a killer. Elena and Bonnie nicknamed it a ‘Klaroline’ syndrome- whatever that means.

“I-I couldn’t let you keep her-“ You stuttered, uneasy as you stood there with fear for what he could do. Elena had intended for both of you to get away, but of course he used magic to keep you invisible and... well, here you were, standing in the middle of a classroom as Kai threw a bitch fit.

“Did I fucking ask what you would have me do?!” He yelled in your face, making you jump with shock. He was so, so mad. “I NEEDED HER! WHY?! WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE YOU!-“

You were honestly getting pissed now. Did he think you wanted to risk yourself? It was the right thing to do. You stood up straight, angry and walking forward to yell in his face as well.

“DO YOU THINK I WANT TO BE HERE?! DO YOU THINK I WANTED TO MAKE THE SACRIFICE PLAY? NO! IT WAS THE RIGHT CALL!-“

“THE RIGHT CALL?! HOW IS ANY OF THIS RIGHT?!”

“WHY DO YOU CARE?! WHY DO YOU CARE IF ITS ME ANYWAYS?!-“

“BECAUSE-!” Kai frustratingly turned around, grunting throwing the desk against the wall with a wave of his hand. “UGH! YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND!”

“Then-“ You scoffed, coming up blank as he turned around and glared with those intense eyes. They were filled with something that you couldn’t quite grasp- why did he care so much? You were about to ask him to help you understand- but why would you want to? Why should you care- even though you wanted to- you shouldn’t.

He stalked to you suddenly, grabbing you and putting you over his right shoulder. You yelped, “Ah! Kai, what are you-“

“You know, you look so much more pretty with that mouth closed, (Y/N).”

You huffed, “Didn’t peg you for the sexist type.”

“Not sexist.” He chuckled, carrying you through the unfamiliar halls. “I just like it when you’re not yelling at me.”

You scowled, but couldn’t help the pang of adoration that rang in your chest. It didn’t exactly help that he was so, so cute. “Kai... why do you care so much?”

“Isn’t it obvious?” He walked out the school, blinding you with the sudden daylight. You groaned in annoyance, which he blatantly ignored. “You’re cute, feisty, and I like you.”

You went silent immediately, resting your face in your hands with a slight sigh. You hated the way your heart beat fast at his words.

“Put that idiotic little twit down and tell me where Elena is.”

You were dropped to the ground, and you groaned and glared up at Kai. “Are you for reals?”

Kai smirked at you with a raised brow, “As much as I’d love to feel your body on mine, I’m a little busy.”

Damon rolled his eyes, “Enough with the lover’s quarrel. Where’s Elena?”

You frowned and laid against the grass with an annoyed grunt. This drama was too much for you. “I let her go. She disappeared, but she doesn’t have a daylight ring-“

“Yeah... see, that’s the thing.” Damon’s voice took a grave turn, making you sit up with alarmed eyes. “I didn’t ask to tell me what happened or what you- an idiotic human did with your faulty rescue- I asked you tell me where she is.”

“Here’s the problem, chief. I don’t know, my girlfriend doesn’t know-“

“I’m not your girlfriend, Kai!” You protested, standing up and slightly shoving the siphon witch. He continued despite your shove.

“So I would say you should get out of here.” Kai finished with a smile, “I mean, unless you want me to use my super magic.”

“Or how about I just kill your little pet-“

Kai held out his hand immediately, making Damon’s hand start on fire. Damon groaned as he frantically tried to put it out, “Agh!”

“You don’t ever touch her- or even mention her!” His voice was deadly, and you shivered at the way he was overprotective of you.

“Damon, no!” You turned to see Elena step out in the sun, only to wince at the burn and step back into the shade of the school’s doorway. The fire spread on Damon’s skin as Kai continued to hold out his hand at the vampire.

You grabbed onto Kai’s arm, pleading as he stared at Damon with a grin. “Kai! Please, stop this-“

“Why should I?” Kai chuckled, looking down at you with what you quickly realized to be hunger and lust, while also lightened up with delight and genuine joy at hurting Damon. You couldn’t blame him- Damon was an asshole but... Elena loved him.

You thought to yourself for a second, and suddenly couldn’t help but roll your eyes. You took out your lipstick from your back pocket, applying the red shade with annoyance. Kai looked at you confused as you huffed, “Fine.”

He was about to speak up when you suddenly leaned up and kissed his cheek. He looked at you with slightly widened eyes, and you suddenly realized it wasn’t enough. You kissed his other cheek, making him stammer in confusion and slightly back up.

“Wha-What are you-“

You grasped him by the nape of his neck and kissed his jawline next, making him shiver as he grabbed your arms in protest. You didn’t know why you liked the way you left your lip marks on him, but at this point- who cared?

“(Y/N)-“

You kissed his collarbone, making him sharply inhale with frustration. You looked up, gauging his reaction. He looked at you with a slight smirk, somewhat pleased and smug with this development. But you could still hear Damon’s screams, so you needed more. A real shock.

You leaned up, pulling him in by the collar, and planting your lips on his with a slight moan. Damon’s screams starting to die down, but even then you couldn’t stop yourself from kissing Kai even deeper. Your nails raked his skull, holding him against you just for this precious moment. Your tongue brushed against his, and the groan from the witch as he overcame his initial surprise and kissed you back passionately stirred something deep in you. Kai’s teeth bit at your bottom lip with a moan, making you release a small whimper. You had to stop yourself from continuing, you had to or you’d jump him right here, and stumbled away from him as you pushed him away.

Kai swallowed, looking at you with a flustered face and neck, his eyes wide as they could be and looking at you with shock. You panted, nodding to yourself as you looked back at an appalled Damon who laid on the floor, staring at you and the witch with a disgusted expression.

You raised a brow and shrugged, wiping the small trace of saliva from the bottom of your lip. “You’re welcome.”

You looked back to Kai, standing there with his disheveled appearance and red kiss marks all over him, and decided you’d slightly fixed his collar. You glanced up at him as you patted his jacket and let your hands rest on his chest, his face still flushed and confused and shocked, “Don’t think I like you just because of that very awesome kiss, Malachai Parker.”

He swallowed again, looking away with a red face. You couldn’t help but smirk at the way you made that smug witch finally shut up. You walked past him, approaching a confused and grinning Elena.

You took off your sweater, and handed it to her with a scowl. “Shut up.”

Elena giggled, holding your sweater over her head as she walked into the sunlight. “I didn’t say a word.”

every since you said that you could see klaroline pulling off christopher and lorelai dynamic i haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. could you explain why please? i’m curious on your thought process bc that’s honestly a dynamic i’d never even thought off.

It’s really just the chemistry Jo and Candice have together, Usually if I talk about Klaroline and chemistry, I focus on their stares, I usually focus on the kind of simmering, potential fiery aspect of it because really, we talk about them in relation to Delena and how they could do that dynamic better but I have also said this about their dynamic:

The more Caroline interacts with Klaus, the more she’s drawn to him and that shows with the kind of  chemistry they have where, as someone who is quite indifferent to their  dynamic, the more they interact onscreen the more I want them to remain onscreen, I start off unimpressed (much like Caroline) and move toward  being engaged (again like Caroline) and like I said, they do their  dynamic well too, Caroline’s annoyed-but-charmed and Klaus’ arrogant-but-charming  

and that means that when they’re spending time together they have a very breezy vibe, they banter

and they’re cute and I don’t mean AWW, SE is SO adorable, I mean OK-relax-don’t-be-cute which just makes them flirty

and even when Caroline is alone and she’s looking at a letter that Klaus sends her or a gift or whatever, she has that look, like she knows better but his efforts still get her, she still responds even though she has the sense not to and it’s not the UGH-THIS-IS-SO-TORTUROUS vibe, it’s the yeah-ya-got-me

like she’s charmed in spite of herself

and that is very Lorelai and Christopher

Especially in season 1, the way that he puts on that charm and the way Lorelai is like *big grin* you-know-what-no-I-see-what-you’re doing

The timing is never right and he doesn’t have his shit together, they don’t know each other as adults, there are many real, practical reasons as to why they aren’t together and shouldn’t be together, one of which is she doesn’t actually love him the way she or he needs, but they’re in a room and he’s just ... Christopher

and the way the show is able to portray that is because Lauren and David have the same kind of breezy, flirty, knowing chemistry as Candice and Jo

that when they interact there’s this undercurrent of sexual tension, there’s this charm, there’s this ease

and you can understand how Lorelai could be flustered in that moment or have ideas in that moment and I think Jo and Candice could do that well since they basically already do it as Klaroline

Ya know I m so fucking annoyed right now that kc didn't have a proper fucking storyline after s4 of tvd ...like I disregard klaus and caroline's shitty so called development after tvd s4 . It is definitely a more wonderful "love story" than delena but no they want more money and hence they had to make originals and atleast the ahittiest show to ever exist legacies (while writing this I feel I will have to take aspirin mind you). Instead of all that ridiculousness why didnt they develop klaroline ....it could have been delena level iconic(personally I couldnt care less about DE just stating the facts) in terms of pop culture ....couldnt both the ships be iconic at the same time in their own wayssssss argh?!?!?!?😤😤😤 anyway I will always regard it as one of the most "healthiest" "gender neutral" "gothic" ship in teen tv/movies ...actually I would include adults genre as well.

I mean for really real, had they actually gone all in on KC’s success I really think it would have matched DE, it’s popularity was nearly DE levels already.

♥♥♥ KLAROLINE DRABBLE REQUEST #14: Eat Up♥♥♥

She could have skipped lunch and demanded they went straight to his apartment so he could unravel her all over his stupidly expensive sheets, but they hadn’t seen each other for a whole month and his suggestion of a lakeside picnic was incredibly thoughtful. She would have been a fool not to say yes to such a normal date.

They planned it carefully, making sure everyone’s schedule kept them away from Mystic Falls Park that afternoon. Was it questionable of them to keep their relationship a secret from their friends and family? Perhaps. But after one magical, drunken night at his place, they realised that they liked keeping everything under wraps; it helped them avoid nagging questions while they figured out what they wanted.

“This is beautiful, Klaus,” Caroline gushed, finding a small skip in her step when she had mentally decided on their spot. She placed her hands on her hips as she looked across the lake. He was quick to wrap his arms around her from behind, settling the picnic basket on the floor. Yes, her buying an actual picnic basket was a little...cliche, but she thought it looked cute!

With a chaste kiss to the back of her neck, he sighed, “You absolutely are, love.”

She giggled, wriggling away from his addictive grasp. “I’m not looking to get arrested today,” she retorted before she poked her tongue out. “Besides, I want you to be as pent up as possible by the time we go to your apartment.”

Klaus raised both his brows playfully, pressing both hands to his chest. “Would you really be so cruel to me?”

“Me? Cruel? I think you must have mistaken me with yourself,” she teased and plonked herself down on the blanket he so swiftly placed in reaction.

“Brother?”

Their bantering was brought to a halt and their faces became frozen. She widened her eyes at him and in a silent conversation she asked, ‘I thought you made sure no one would be here?’, to which he attempted to convey, ‘Kol never leaves the house! How was I supposed to know?!’.

“Well well well, what are my two favourite people doing at the park...together?” Kol sauntered to them, his signature devilish smile inhabiting his face. “You wouldn’t happen to be on a daー?”

“No!” they denied in unison, both of their faces uneasy. Caroline decided to take the lead, looking up at Kol and Klaus with her winning smile. “I was out for a little picnic by myself and your brother happened to be here, and we thought it would be silly to sit apart so I asked him to join me! What a coincidence, huh?”

Okay, it wasn’t her best lie.

“The biggest,” Kol responded, eyes gleaming at the two of them. “Well, I suppose three would not be a crowd in that case?”

“Not at all,” Klaus choked out to Caroline’s masked disdain. The two brothers sat onto the flowery blanket and Kol took it upon himself to rummage through the basket.

He hummed softly as he noted the items, “Two water bottles, a bottle of champagne with two plastic glasses, two sets of sandwiches…” Kol bared his teeth and a fox-like grin, “and two cupcakes? My, Caroline. You must have been hungry.”

The blonde giggled furiously, unable to muster up a better response than, “Just a treat-myself day!” She glanced at Klaus, whose eyes were burning into her with one request, but she would have to make it up to him later. “You can have one if you like!”

“How kind of you, Caroline dear! See, this is why you are my favourite! Is she not so wonderful, Niklaus?” his grandiose changes in intonation were grating as their lies were so obviously crumbling. He happily took one of the cupcakes, taking care to unwrap it before practically inhaling the dessert.

“Almost wonderful to a fault,” Klaus bit out. There were three things Klaus was looking forward to that day: seeing Caroline, making love to Caroline, and eating that cupcake.

1. Tell us about your current project(s)  – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?

Well, I’ve got Better Late Than Never, Double Crossed, and my novel series that are the big three focuses right now. 

BLTN is an AU/AH Klaroline fic where five-year-old Henrik kind of plays matchmaker, and then becomes kind of about the battle for custody of him between the brothers Mikaelson and their criminal parents. Meanwhile it’s also about Klaus letting down his boundaries to love Caroline, and her getting past her history of abuses to love him back. I think, actually, he’s the one being more open to letting himself love her in this fic and that’s a really fun and interesting angle to write from. Most of the time it’s about Caroline fighting to get him to accept his love for her so this has been different for me. Also writing fluff instead of angst has been a big shift.

Double Crossed is the third installment in the fic series in which I basically rewrite canon from the point of...oh god, was it season three? I believe it’s post Dangerous Liasons. I sent Caroline off to Italy with the Originals, where she forms a bond with them all, but then there’s drama when Bonnie gets kidnapped, Klaus’ bio dad comes into play, along with a super powerful OC witch who hexes Klaus. It’s unintentionally a super slow burn but I happen to like it that way. I think the thing I love most about this one is that it’s basically become my headcanon for the what if scenario. It’s also probably some of my best Kalijah!

Annnnnd then there’s my novel series. For reasons beyond rationality I’m not going to go into detail about it, really. It’s an ensemble series with characters trying to make it in all areas of the art world - art museum, art business affairs, actress, writer, photographer (possible fashion or musician characters coming into play later too) and it’s based in NYC. There’s drama, scandal, romance, and the big underlying theme is the flaw of humanity, how we’re our own worst enemies, and how we can pick ourselves back up from the mistakes we’ve made. It’s my baby and very few have seen any part of it, but it’s sentences away from being finished and ready to start editing so stay tuned!! [Sidenote: I used this for a pitch project in my screenwriting class and the producer who heard it said it sounded like Grey’s Anatomy in the art world. ;) Talk about ego boost!]

3. What is that one scene that you’ve always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all of the set-up and context it would need? (consider this permission to write it and/or share it anyway)

Like 99% of my fic/drabble ideas? xD This is usually me with smut scenes, if I’m being honest. I love to write foreplay, banter, all the build up. But when it comes down to the brass tacks of it all, I’m like eh. 

4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like).

Let’s see if I can find one from each... 

“She seemed almost ethereal in her sleep, every feature of her face that had been hardened by the travails of her life now softened. Except for her lips. They were still that same plump pout that weakened warriors and beguiled thinkers. He was damned for eternity to the mercy of those lips.“ - Double Crossed

I will forever be proud of and in love with this line. I don’t know where it came from but it just came out so beautifully, and really encapsulates how besotted Elijah is. 

“Tatia had issues. So did Klaus." She looked down, her finger tapping her knee. "Nobody blames Klaus for her death." Her finger stopped but she didn't look up. "But it's not like he took her keys away from her either.” - Katherine, Better Late Than Never.

There are a lot of lines in BLTN that I love, but the thing I like about this one was that it gave me actual shivers when I wrote it. There’s a bitter anger in her voice, a certain shock value from the admission that kind of takes your breath away. Especially considering at this point, the entire story of Klaus and Tatia’s relationship is still relatively unknown. 

8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?

Yes and no. I like to read realistic fiction, drama, fantasy, historical fiction, romance, medieval, some YA. I think I mostly write in the realistic/YA dramatic genre(s). I also don’t like to write smut as much as I like to read it. 

10. How would you describe your writing process?

Methodically disorganized. I don’t follow proper outlining processes. I generally get hit with an idea for a scene or conversation and build around that. Eventually I do have to sit down and organize everything because it gets a little overwhelming, but there’s always a method to the madness. I’ve always told my readers that I never do anything in my writing without a reason, it’s never sheer shock value or guessing games with my writing. I also research the hell out of the tiniest minuscule details to retain authenticity. It’s one thing that I’m a big stickler about.

a/n: Joel Goran meets the Mystic Falls/NOLA gang. But it is totally AU- Klaus Mikaelson is a surgeon, and so is Y/N and Caroline Forbes.

Joel listened to his voice mail- the message from Y/N.

"Hey, it's me. What happened to you? Why are not answering my calls? I guess things didn't go good. Ok. I guess you need alone time."

Joel now made a painful sigh, and played the message again and then flashed back to about what had happened half an hour before.

Flashback

Joel and the woman he had picked up from the bar crushed on the bed. And as she started pulling his T-shirt off of him, Joel suddenly stopped her and now got up, straightening the T-shirt, gulping.

"I- don't - want this! I am sorry- this is a huge mistake. I got to go."- Joel now stumbled out of the hotel room.

As he got out of the hotel, he walked down the road, his head thumping violently. He waved a taxi and soon he was on  the way to his apartment.

He now pressed the speed-dial and Y/N answered -

"Are you ok?"

Joel gulped feeling terrible.

"I am ok."- he replied-"I just - needed time to myself like you said."

"So, you didn't managed to- get to any kind of agreement?"- Y/N asked.

"Can we talk about it tomorrow?"- Joel said.

"Sure. I will see you tomorrow."

"Thanks."- Joel said.

"Hey. It's ok. All of it is kinda not an easy thing for you."

"Yeah"- Joel muttered.

It was clear to Y/N that something much deeper went on and she now said a little see you and they both hang up.

At Rousseau’s

Caroline waved a little at Oliver with a little smile. As she walked over to the bar, her mind now played the call she had picked up earlier.

Flashback

Seeing Klaus’ name on the display, Caroline made a mental sigh and trying to keep it cool, answered the call with a small yes.

“I thought - that - I will see you- thank you - for the card.”

“I was - so busy- Jo has just piled up so much work and - yeah- it’s so good to - you scared us all.”- Caroline said.

“Like my sister said - I am no race car driver- I am better at mending people. Ah - I know that your shift is over - nurse Trevor told me- I know visiting hours are over - ”- Klaus said.

Caroline now drew a long deep breath trying to keep her tears at bay. Oh, she was so wanting to visit him, everything, but - there was this big BUT - and hearing his voice now half hope half anguish, calling her name-

“Caroline?” and then remembering all the stress Camille had already caused, with a heavy heart, she now replied-

“I - can’t- ahm- my date is waiting for me. Yeah- you now think of getting better”

“Date-ha?”- Klaus muttered with a broken voice.

“Yeah. I got to go.”- Caroline said adding a little see ya, and hung up.

“Beer?”- Oliver now asked, and Caroline nodded and added “ and a shot of Tequila.”

“Right. I see that Dr Parker has really got it in for you”- Oliver now said.

“Yeah - we go way back - and there is no love lost there”- Caroline said and now downed the shot of Tequila as the bartender served her drink-”but can we forget about the hospital. I got the next 12 hours free and I just want to unwind and so do all the things that are so not work - maybe do some other kind of work- anyway - I want to know more about you.”

“All right.”- Oliver now said-”what do you want to know?”

“Can you sing?”- Caroline now said.

“Can I sing?”- Oliver was surprised to hear that question.

“Yep. Let’s do a duet.”- Caroline now took hold of the Attending’s hand and walked him to the karaoke machine.

He had heard that Caroline was a fiery ball of fun, but now he had to experience it for himself.

The other thing Caroline was so good at was getting a party started and get the bar on their feet. She let herself go. To forget and try to turn over the new leaf. And even though her heart burnt and ached for someone else, hours later as Oliver took her home in his car, she kissed him and said-

“For date 1 - this was really mad. So, what are we doing on date 2?”

“I don’t know. I know I will have to somehow top this”- Oliver said.

“You have 24 hours to think about it.”- Caroline said and slipped out of the Attending’s car.

In the hospital, Klaus looked at the card Caroline left for him, feeling like the world had just crushed down as he had just heard from the nurses commenting that Dr Queen has asked Dr Forbes out on a date.

The next day, Joel was paged early in the morning and went to hospital. As soon as he finished he went to find  Y/N, who had just gone to the OR herself.

"Can you please call me the minute she is finished"- he said to one of the nurses at the hub.

He had other patients to attend and finish some paperwork. He did all like a robot, his mind evidently in  different universe.

Vincent, who called him up to the ER, having noticed Joel not being himself.

"Don't tell me there is trouble in paradise?"- Vincent joked a little, to which Joel nodded somewhat.

"I thought you found the one? Don't tell me you messed this up?"

Joel was quiet.

"Seriously? I can't believe it."- Vincent said.

Joel's phone rang and it was the nurse telling him Y/N finished in the OR.

She waited for him at one of the examination rooms. 

"Hey"- Y/N now smiled a little at Joel, walking over to him placing a little kiss on his lips. Joel kissed her back and then taking her hands looked at her seriously now saying-

"I have to tell you something."

Him being deadly serious and edgy, Y/N's stomach suddenly churned with a hollow pain.

"What?"- she slipped her face now changing expression into deep worry.

Joel sighed a little and then told her briefly  how his talk with Alex went, him ending up in a bar, and picking up the woman, going with the hotel she was staying at, and - him walking out of the hotel room. As he finally said- nothing happened, Y/N, who was first in a strange haze now slapped him hard across the face.

"I should have known. HUH- my head said no, but my heart said- yes, give him a chance. Love him, teach him to be loved. But, you don't deserve to be loved"- the words went right through him, feeling like she had slid the knife in his heart and twisted it. 

She wanted to go on, as she now felt strange kind of anger wash all over her, but her phone rang and it was Alaric, so she answered, walking away from Joel.

As he tried to call her and talk to her later, she ignored all his calls and avoided him. Luckily, she was not in his team that day or the following, and the days after that. And no matter how much he tried to talk to her, she ignored him. Y/N found refuge at her best friend Bonnie, trying to nurse her bruised heart.

"If  we look at this technically- he didn't actually sleep with her."- Bonnie said.

"No, but - it's the intention that kills me. He kissed and he went with her to her hotel room, and- what is wrong with him? Does he not have real feelings? I know he is messed up- but- he just had a talk with Alex and - he- what? Flipped his emotions and - I don't know what to think. Well, I am the one who is so stupid. He cheated on Alex with me. Why would he be any different to me?"

"We know he has problems with love- and emotions and- I think that - in a very strange way- he is doing this to hurt himself. This may sound strange. But it is like- when there is something good - he kind of self-harms.It sounds crazy but - yeah- that's what it is. It is a conduit for release from emotional stress. It makes him feel better in the short term, that's true. However it can cause emotional damage because the person becomes addicted to the relief that the harm brings and then just gets stuck in a cycle. I think Joel has that problem. But I might be wrong, but - sleeping with other women - is kind of a pattern. Some cut themselves - he- well, you know-"- Bonnie said.

"Makes sense."- Y/N now said-"But I just- can't deal with it- not right now. I am-"

"Hurt, angry."

"Yeah. He needs to get better first, before - if we ever- get - a new chance. I don't know. I feel- huh, I told him that he doesn't deserve to be loved."- Y/N now remembered what she had said to him. 

"Well, I don't know what to tell you, but you- two need to talk."- Bonnie said-"no communication is not good. You know it."

"You are right."- Y/N said and then grabbed her phone now dialing Joel's number. It went straight to voice mail. 

"He is probably in the OR. He is on-call today. Ok. I am going over to the hospital. Thank you."

"What are bffs for!"- Bonnie said-"and whatever happens, I hope it works out for both of you."

Y/N now hugged her best friend and then left.

An hour later

Joel, Alaric, Alex and Vincent were paged to the ER- and they were there hands on.

"There has been a shooting outside the Coffee Bean."- they were told and soon those who were injured were rolled in. 

And as Joel now got to deal with one of the patient, his eyes now froze as his eyes set on a sight he couldn't believe he was seeing. 

Y/N was rolled in. 

In a nano second Vincent, and Alex now crossed their looks with Joel, who was screaming with his eyes- NOOOOOOOO. 

Y/N was wheeled away to the OR, and Joel, had turned to the patients in need of help. 

Caroline, who was summoned as well, and finding out her sister was shot, was completely beside herself, but as a professional surgeon she had to assist and she did the best as she could to help others letting the Attendings do their job and save her best friend. 

A few hours later, Joel, waited in front of the OR where Y/N was still operated on-

Charlie, one of the General Surgery Attendings now went out of the OR

"Tell me, Charlie!"- Joel said with trepidation coursing his heart.

"It's very critical."- Charlie said-"All we can now do is- pray."

Joel shook his head in disbelief. A few days before he had it all. And now - everything turned around like the end of the world was nigh.

Joel walked in the ICU room where Y/N was brought to. He sat down on the bed, and looked at the woman with his heart clumped up in pain, his stomach aching with regret for having hurt her. He loved her, it was the holy truth.

"Please, you have to get through this. I refuse to lose you.I have never wanted to hurt you. Ever. Please, Y/N. I love you so much. I never loved anybody like I love you. You may not  believe it, but it is the truth. Please, fight. You can do this. Please, don't leave me."

Joel now took the Maori pendant that he gave her for her birthday and put it on the side table. 

"I love you."- Joel said bending down to kiss her.

___

Days that followed, were filled with anguish. Caroline and all Y/N’s friends were there around the clock, sitting with her friend, praying, hoping that she would wake up and come back to them.

 Y/N’s aunt Jenna that came down to from New York  and sat with Y/N nearly all the time she was allowed to. Caroline practically lived in the hospital. Joel had also spent every free time he could find with Y/N, meeting Jenna at one point.

"Caroline said- you were Y/N's last boyfriend? Attending, no more no less. I hear you are a cowboy casanova?"

Joel could only imagine where the name came from, and now made a face saying- that it was a bit exaggerated.

"Caroline also said that you have sat with her the whole night after they brought her out of the OR and wouldn't leave her sight."- Jenna continued.

"I did."- Joel said-"and if it ok, I came to sit with her now, and read to her."

"I have also heard about your ex-ex- girlfriend being pregnant"- Jenna continued.

"What is this? A third degree?"- Joel now asked.

"You can call it that. Look, I know that those two can look after themselves, and I am not a great example of a mom, but - this is somewhat a bigger complication Y/N had ever found herself in. So, if you plan to stick around, and make amends, you better mean it- or- just be a man and walk away."- Jenna said, and seeing Alaric now went to him.

Joel got in the room and sat on the chair, opening the book.

"I never read poems. I mean I did, in school, but not- like this, to someone. I got this book from a patient, who- well, she heard that my girlfriend was not well, and she reckons if I read this to you, you will wake up. Because it comes from the heart. It comes from mine. Ok, here we go"- Joel now randomly opened a page.

Joel now descended again in his thoughts. He wished he could go back in time and change so many things. But now he made one wish. He wished Y/N would wake up and she was fine. 

Klaus, having heard about Y/N being shot from one of the nurses, now asked one that came into his room to wheel him to the special ICU area where Y/N was at.

As got there, he now stumbled upon Caroline kissing Oliver bye for the day. The sight made his heart now quiver.  He could not fault her, as he had broke it off with her, even though, deep inside he had regretted it from the moment she had walked away from him that particular day.

And now, he saw that she had moved on. Kissing Oliver Queen openly, meant they were in a relationship.

"Can we go back?"- he said to the nurse now, but Caroline saw him and him turning now away from her would not have been right.

"Hey"- Caroline said as she now came up to him.

"Hey."- Klaus said back now asking the nurse if they could be left alone for a second.

"Of course, Dr Mikaelson."- the nurse said and looked at Caroline.

"It's ok. I will see that Dr Mikaelson gets back to his room."

The nurse left and Klaus now asked how Y/N was doing and said how sorry he was that she was going through this as he knew that Y/N and her were like sisters.

Caroline thanked him for his concern and now filled him in on Y/N's current state. She then asked how he was doing.

"Walking still presents difficulty, but I am determined to get on my feet as soon as I can. And back to work."- Klaus said.

"I am surprised you are still in the hospital."- Caroline now said.

"I prefer to be here than home. Too many women stressing over me. Here I have peace and quite. I am more at home in the hospital than at the family house"

"I get that."- Caroline said- and then with a small gulp. She then wanted to go look for a nurse to take him back to his room, but Klaus took hold of her hand and Caroline stood still for a second, looking at him, trying hard to keep it together.

"I see you- are- I hope he is good to you."- Klaus said referring to Oliver.

"What?"

"Nothing."- Klaus sighed a little and then said-"Oliver Queen is a good guy."

He then let go off her hand and turned the wheelchair around wheeling away to the elevators.

Caroline stood like frozen looking for a second, her heart now thumping wildly. Seeing Klaus get in the elevator, she whispered-

“Damn you Mikaelson.”

Yes, Caroline is my favorite female character on the show. I didn’t like her straight away, though. I actually thought she was very annoying at first. lol I started watching TVD from mid-season 2 and it wasn’t until season 3 that Caroline started growing on me. When I went back to watch the beginning of the show, s1-2, she was really, really, really unlikable, the type of character I cannot stand (every bit your stereotypical cheerleader mean girl of every single show under the sun). But what eventually made me like her was the fact that she was so clearly growing on the show.

By S6, she had had such great development, maybe the best out of every other character, and the fact she started as someone I was very resistant to became a plus. Caroline had to win me over. And the great thing about her is that she didn’t get a complete makeover and turn into someone else entirely, she genuinely matured. I feel like it was almost accidental the way she ended being written on the show. lol Of maybe the actress had a lot to do with that. Caroline was still often obnoxious and bossy and had this huge expansive personality, but she was a fully grown character, made all the stronger precisely because of that. I liked it that they never tried to hide her flaws or the things that made her annoying in the beginning. It made Caroline more relatable, even if I share no personality traits with her.

For KC... My relationship with TVD is a little weird. So I watched the show for like six years with a huge detachment. lol I didn’t really care that much about it, it was just something that I would watch because it was easy entertainment. I didn’t join fandom until after TO was over. But I did ship KC almost right off the start. I wanted them to be together and the fact I wanted to see that happen one day was one of the reasons it took me so long to give up on TVD and why I went back to watch the last season of TO. But I didn’t have any huge strong feelings about them until the show was over and I was OVERCOME with how dissatisfied I was with what I was given. lol I had a bad history with my ships, someone always dies, and I thought KC was THE ONE that was going to happen because there was no way a teen show on the CW wouldn’t deliver on something as obvious as that. LOL WHAT A SUMMER CHILD. But the moment they failed to give me their endgame was the moment I realized how invested In was. lol

I wanted them to be together right off the start. 3x10 (or is it 11? anyone, Caroline’s 18th birthday episode). I liked Klaus because he was an interesting character and I have  THING for villains who develop inappropriate feelings for the people they should want dead. lol So already that was promising. But he chemistry between them was ridiculous and so instataneous that it was inevitable. Plus, the fact I hated every much every relationship Caroline had ever had played a huge part in it, too. I hate Tyler, I hate Matt, and I would live to hate Stefan as well. Klaus was the one motherfucker on that show who ever saw Caroline the way I came to see her, who saw the same qualities I saw on her as qualities, instead of reasons to offer her condescending little eyerolls like ‘Oh, Caroline...’, you know? And their dynamic was just SO great. Ships that are too easy do nothing for me. Like Stefan and Elena - instalove. Blergh. I like the conflict, I like the chase, I like the difficulties, even the angst. Enemies to lovers is not my favorite trope for nothing. lol And KC had everything! So yeah. It was almost as though someone in the writers room went had written them PERSONALLY for me. And it only got better from there. So I was 100% gone.

And I guess I ended up writing a full essay. 🤣🤣 But yeah, that’s why I love Caroline and why I shipped the hell out of her and Klaus. Sorry that I still can’t answer you in Spanish! lol And I do so love to get questions and chat away here, so come back any time! :) Thank you!

Once again kc was used, this time for a “poor Hope” story line. I would really have preferred kc be left alone, they could have done something with Hayley instead.

I have to say, this tidbit with the dress is weird as fuck. I was talking to Moni and Mery about it, and in the end we were like ‘huh??’. 

Like as lovely a callback as it is, I can think of about a hundred other ways they could’ve gone about doing this. And I’m struggling, if I’m being honest, to grasp why a dress Klaus chose for someone else, is what they went with. This could’ve easily been done with idk, something Klaus left behind with the intent of it going to her. He owned a bajillion things, or is his NOLA home not still standing, ya know? 

Ultimately my thoughts are that it’s intentional to squeeze in Klaroline whenever they can, because otherwise this makes no sense. Like to have Hope finally have this breakdown about Klaus, and have it be ignited by a dress...that was meant for someone with entirely different intentions. It just doesn’t really fit in my opinion, given the sentiments they were aiming for Hope to feel. 

Again, not that I’m complaining. But as a person who always has many thoughts, that’s mine on this, absdjhbjhdba.

Mini Prompt: Klaroline based on Warner and Ella from Restore Me?

Urgh, so sorry for the delay nonnie, plus I was waiting for the spoiler period to end on the recent book lol. I adore this book series, in fact it’s my fave YA fiction series. Hope this first part is okay given it needed to be longer (and you’re still checking your answered asks) more to come, I promise! 

Alone Together

I don’t know where you’re going, but do you got room for one more troubled soul?

It’s dusk, the sun setting in a brilliant array of pinks and oranges across the usually gloomy sky above. Klaus Mikaelson, Chief Commander and Regent of Sector 45 surveys their territory as is usual on evening inspections. 

He squints, noticing something unexpected ahead. It’s a body stretched out across the road. Klaus Mikaelson never shows much emotion but the sight of her figure catches his eye. 

He motions to the driver to stop and makes his way towards the woman splayed out on their oncoming path.  She seems still and unresponsive, in fact his heart constricts at her predicament which is not the usual reaction when you’re the son of an evil tyrant. He bends down, choosing to ignore the prying eyes of his guard as he does it. Her skin is the colour of the most pale porcelain, her golden waves falling across her face. Klaus is struggling to breathe she looks so pure. 

“You’re an ass, anyone ever tell you that?” She murmurs, her blue eyes fluttering open and surprising him without warning. 

“That’s an interesting way to thank your saviour, Miss?”

“Last time I checked you didn’t do much but try to advertise your pathetic Prince Charming tendencies and supposedly come to my rescue which, by the way, I don’t appreciate.” 

“Says the girl who is laying on the road,” she doesn’t respond immediately her pink lips pursed in thought. “I’m assuming Prince Charming scarred you for life,” he murmurs, his crimson lips pressing together awaiting her belated response. 

“I don’t need anyone, especially someone so blatantly sexist.”

“I’m merely stating a fact. And, by the way, has anyone told you that you talk a lot for someone supposedly injured?” He quips. 

“I’m actually surprisingly low maintenance.” 

“Could have fooled me,” Klaus chuckles. She doesn’t respond, just sends him a steely gaze before emitting an ear piercing scream and knocking him off his feet momentarily.

He’s caught off guard, especially as the ground begins to shake beneath them, the truck he arrived in toppling over and sending his guards onto the road and knocking them unconscious in the process. 

For some reason his concerns lie with the mouthy stranger more than the emotionless guards he arrived with. He attempts to calm her, his hand finding hers in the commotion, unsure of why he’d do that for someone endangering his safety. She reels backwards, her eyes resting on their connection as a twisted look of disbelief takes over her face. 

“How?” He looks at her questioningly. “How can you touch me?”

“I didn’t mean to, If this is because of the whole sexist asshole thing then…”

“No,” she rasps, moving closer her blue eyes wide. “You touched me,” she murmurs. “Nobody can touch me.”

“I realise you’ve basically totalled my ride here but is making fun of me the grand finale, love?”

“I need to get out of here,” she whispers, her blue eyes darting around nervously. He suddenly feels a need to touch her again but after the last time he’s reluctant.

“So, you’re just going to leave me here without a ride?” 

“Is everything always about you?” 

“I’m working on that glitch,” he teases, although noting her worried expression he softens. “Funnily enough my father has a vacation house nearby, I’d be happy to take you there to rest.”

“And then kill me I suppose.”

“Only after dessert, I promise,” he jokes. “I’m unable to function without any sugar.”

“If this is your way of getting women then I think you need to change your tactics.”

“You don’t really like me, do you?” 

“You’re some stranger who’s either trying to hit on me or kill me, so what do you expect?”

“I’m not hitting on you, in fact I should be pretty pissed that you faked injury then demolished my best truck and guards, although their attributes leave a lot to be desired. ”

“You realise we’re never going to be friends, Mikaelson?” 

“I suppose we’ll have to wait and see about that but obviously introductions aren’t at all necessary, love.” 

I don’t know where I’m going, but I don’t think I’m coming home….

Okay, so I didn’t actually think anyone would care what I had to say. I just saw a post that riled me up and I wrote that to let off some steam. That being said, to everyone who liked my post or just read it thank you from the bottom of my heart. Seriously it means so much to me that there are people who notice what I have to say. That being said, I want to do more of these cause I have a lot of opinions that aren’t widespread, and I’d like to start with a post gushing about a certain character that receives too much hate. However, seeing as this isn’t a rant out of agitation this might take a bit longer to get out. With that long introduction out of the way... Cami O’Connell!

As I said, Cami is my favorite female character in the whole of the tvdverse (Bonnie is a close second). The reason why I want to start with her instead of Bonnie or my favorite character (Marcel) is because while both were royally screwed with by the writers, there are plenty of fans online who sing their praises (as they deserve). However, when it comes to Cami the consensus online is either hatred or indifference by a vast majority of the fans (that being said there are still a good amount of people who do love her I’m not saying there aren’t, but they are in the minority). This is something I never quite understood, but I’m gonna try my best educated guess on it.

I suppose before I go any further, I have a confession to make. The way I watched both tvd and to was not a straight line. Several years ago, I decided to finally watch tvd and started with the first two season (which I really liked), then a youtuber dropped a video analyzing the pilot for to and the premise hooked me immediately so I started the first season and kept watching until finishing the third, then I decided to go back and watch tvd seasons three and four, then got bored so I switched back to finish to, and finally after a few months declared I wanted to finish what I started and slogged through the second half of tvd. Why is this relevant? Well I just wanted to inform y’all as this might’ve led to my different perspectives on many things in both shows, and it hopefully can somewhat explain my reasoning

Going back to Cami, why is she my favorite female? A multitude of reasons. Firstly, I love how different she is from other female characters we’ve seen. Characters like Elena, Bonnie, and Caroline are fun in their own right, with bubbly personalities and childish innocence. This makes sense because they’re teenagers! Even Elena’s angst comes off more like young naivety than a wayward soul. I’m not knocking this characterization, it makes sense that a show aimed at teenagers would have teenage girls as it’s main cast. Where am I going with this? Cami might be the most mature character we’ve seen in this universe that actually has a pretty big part in the cast. What I mean is that shows like this paint maturity on women as being motherly or a stick in the mud, but Cami is neither. She’s still fun and loose, but with an aura of restraint and intelligence that needs to be accumulated over time. She’s not even that old! My guesstimation puts her at 23 cause we know she’s graduated college with a degree in psychology and was already working at Rousseau’s in the pilot (you mean to tell me you don’t just get your dream job right out of college, you have to work some dead end jobs first? YA lied to me!). I don’t know how quite to describe it beyond that, Cami just feels like a real person to me, and that makes me invested in her life even more.

Secondly, is her personality beyond her intelligence. I love how empathetic and kind she is! In the span of three seasons, she had helped almost everyone in the show while never sticking her feet into the main drama. That’s another thing, she knows when something’s over her head and will step out when she can, when something is pushing her, she fights back. I love that despite how kind hearted she is, she’s not a pushover. If there’s something she doesn’t like, she will attest. She may be nice, but get on her bad side and her sass will cut you like a knife. Considering she’s only a human against these witches, vampires, and originals you would call this unrealistic, but it works because unlike most people on the show, she’s smart. I know I just said beyond her intelligence, but I just want to gush about how fun it is watching Cami get out of trouble on her own by using nothing but her brain (I just think it’s neat). Characters this complex are not usually reserved for women on the cw, which leads into my final reason.

I love how much agency Cami has throughout her run on the show! Like, her story isn’t stapled to Klaus, she does so much without him even being there. In tvd, I can’t think of a single storyline Elena had that wasn’t tied to one or both of the Salvatore brothers, Bonnie is constantly being abused by the writers, Caroline is forcibly impregnated, Hayley starts off with her own goals before being tied to Jackson and later Elijah, Davina also starts off with her own ambitions before also being shackled to her love interest to resurrecting Kol being her only storyline in season three. I’m sure there are more, but these are just ones off the top of my head. While this makes me wish she had her own storyline, I acknowledge she is a supporting character (which begs the question of why none of the women in the main cast get this luxury but I digress).

This has been very long, and we’re just getting to complaints. Unlike complaints about the ship, I have yet to find an argument about why Cami sucks that isn’t factually incorrect, so if you have one please share. The first complaint I hear is that Cami is a copy of Caroline (I’ll give y’all that have seen the show a second to stop laughing at the statement). I’ve already explained why Caroline and Cami are two very different characters (hint: one is bubble and energetic and one is calm and mature), I know they’re both blonde, nice, empathetic, and have names that start with c, but try paying attention to what you’re watching then maybe you’ll have a better grasp on it. Secondly is that Cami’s only purpose is being Klaus’ love interest. Like I stated, there’s a lot Cami does where Klaus isn’t even present, unless you’re saying everyone Cami has had a story with was a love interest (So Davina, Josh, Hayley, Elijah, Marcel cerca season two onward, Vincent, Lucien, that detective guy, and her uncle Kieran), in that case I think y’all are onto something with Cami being a Mary Sue cause she getting all the action (note the sarcasm)! That’s another thing, people say Cami’s a Mary Sue cause almost everyone loves her and she has basically no flaws. First of all, I don’t believe Mary Sue to be a character problem but a story problem, and above all an excuse to neuter powerful women lest they make fragile men uncomfortable. Second of all, we see Cami form these relationships in real time through her actions not by her existence. Third of all (not that she needs them to be a good character since other favs don’t), Cami has her stubbornness that eventually got her killed and the fact that strength wise she is the weakest character in the show by her being human.

Are you catching on to some of what I’m saying? Most of these complaints aren’t even true, yet it’s all we hear. My first inclination was to blame this hatred on klaroline shippers who were bitter that their ship could no longer sail, but then I saw posts of people who claimed not to ship them and still hated Cami because she was “just a love interest.” Which leads into the other problem with haters: the hypocrisy. Reasons people hate Cami are elements in other characters that these same people love. Never mind the fact that some of these complaints don’t even apply to her like the love interest thing. To use something that isn’t a lie, people will hate on Cami for sleeping with Marcel in season one when Marcel is Klaus’ son, meanwhile y’all seem to forget Elena not only dated but cheated on Stefan with Damon in the finale of tvd season two (spoiler: she kissed him on his deathbed while her boyfriend and his brother was searching for a way to save him, which doesn’t even go into all their kisses in season three) and furthermore shipping Marcel with Rebekah who would be his aunt (I know some people who ship them acknowledge this but damn). I also know these people jumped at the chance to attack Cami for stealing the white oak stake in season three and ignoring what she was going through meanwhile will wave past everything Elena, Damon, and Caroline did when they had their humanity turned off as “they were going through a lot” (disclaimer: no hate to either of those girls, they were understandably in much pain, just wanna expose the hypocrisy). This all made me reevaluate the reasoning as more than just shippers being bitter, this seemed much more malicious to just be that.

After a lot of thought, my only conclusion I can come to is sexism. Cami is a very different female character than what we’re used to, she’s strong willed, opinionated, smarter than the men, and more mature. I guess fans weren’t ready for a character like that so assumed it was bad or just wrote her off as too different, but that’s giving the benefit of the doubt. To be honest, I still don’t know why she was so hated and continues to be ignored by fans, but maybe it’s time we start asking that question. It’s time we appreciate characters like this so maybe we can have more of them on the cw. It’s time to give Camille O’Connell and Leah Pipes the respect they deserve!

@townsheriff — i love liz forbes, that’s not a secret to anyone. i love lia and that’s also not a secret to anyone. so can you imagine how i felt when lia made a liz???? if you can’t, lemme tell ya: i fangirled for, like, 3 hours straight. liz forbes is - as i’m sure a lot of you must’ve noticed - not a character that many people want/like to play, so to say i’m happy to see her on my dash every now and then would be a huge understatement. lia does a wonderful job bring liz to life; you can hear the sheriff’s voice in everything she writes and every action she describes is something that makes me be like ‘oh, liz would totally do that’. so lia, this is my formal thank you to you. thank you for bringing such an important character to life and for giving my caroline her mom. you have no idea how much it means to me to be able to write with such a talented writer as yourself (hint hint: a lot!!!!!!).

@temperproblem  — it’s pretty much impossible to talk about photoshop and pretty graphics and not think about alie. i mean, have you guys seen the stuff she does??? the wonderful graphics and jaw-dropping themes?? i could never do something remotely similar. alie is so talented at everything she does, it’s honestly so amazing to be able to see her talking about theme designs and code stuff because i know it’s something that really interests her.

Hi zal! Sorry if this is similar to any questions you've answered before, and if you don't want to break it down I totally understand since I know you don't ship any of these ships lol. But in a way do you think chair and klaroline share parallels/similarities? I suppose I ask because I often see both compared to delena, and I hate delena but I like(and loved until later seasons) klaroline and chair, yet I rarely see the two compared?? I guess all three are the "toxic" trope and delena are just badly done but the most talked about. I've been thinking though that maybe a lot of what works for chair/klaroline chemistry and dynamics -- at least in my opinion -- are similar, especially (but not exclusively) in contrast with delena?

You know a long time ago I was asked to do a Gossip Girl as TVD couple comparison and I didn’t believe anyone fit the bill for Chair - I actually said that Klaroline was closest to Chanessa (although KC is more interesting and has more chemistry) because of the whole girl-with-morals-and-ethics-and-boy-with-questionable-morals-maybe-there’s-more-than-meets-the-eye except that Chanessa never went anywhere

Personally, I think the only similarity Klaroline and Chair share is that they both have chemistry.

When I’m being super generous with Chair and think about the narrative that they originally had that I liked and responded to:

OK when I said Chuck “saw” Blair, I meant only in season one when Nate was basically looking at every girl not Blair. At that time, Chuck saw her as someone to be wanted, he saw her as desirable, her saw her as beautiful, he saw her as worthy of attention when Nate simply didn’t,  and essentially saw her as frigid and uptight and a burden, which is why when Nate confronts Chuck about sleeping with Blair and is super indignant about it, Chuck says [and I’m paraphrasing] “Yes, Nathaniel, I took what Blair kept throwing at you and you kept throwing back.”

I don’t think there’s any similarities with Klaroline because I maintain that I hadn’t seen anything in the show that indicates that Klaus actually saw Caroline in a way that no one else had. I just don’t see it.

And then when we get to the kind of relationship Chair was - there is a reason why they’re compared to Delena because they have a lot of the same type of dialogue

it’s just that Chair actually had the kind of chemistry that could back up the dialogue of having this kind of cosmic, beautiful torture, I-breathe-when-you-breathe kind of love (even if I think the narrative took their relationship as far as it could go in season 3)

and Delena didn’t nor did Delena have the kind of details Chair had like the wardrobe

Then there was also a duality I was playing with, with Blair and Chuck's colors when they were in certain scenes together, that would tie them together without really knowing that they're going to end up a couple. I would help illustrate that through keeping them in similar tonalities when they were in emotional scenes together. If she was in a green dress, he would have a green pocket square on; just things that were little hidden gems.

as I’ve mentioned before Delena should be Chair the way that Steroline should be Dair and both fail. 

The kind of chemistry Chair matches this kind of dialogue

The kind of chemistry that Klaroline had substantiates this

which is a different kind of vibe:

The more Caroline interacts with Klaus, the more she’s drawn to him  and that shows with the kind of  chemistry they have where, as someone  who is quite indifferent to their  dynamic, the more they interact  onscreen the more I want them to remain onscreen, I start off  unimpressed (much like Caroline) and move toward  being engaged (again  like Caroline) and like I said, they do their  dynamic well too,  Caroline’s annoyed-but-charmed and Klaus’ arrogant-but-charming   

and that means that when they’re spending time together they have a very breezy vibe,

and they’re cute and I don’t mean AWW, SE is SO adorable, I mean OK-relax-don’t-be-cute which just makes them flirty

and even when Caroline is alone and she’s looking at a letter that Klaus sends her or a gift or whatever, she has that look, like she knows better but his efforts still get her, she still responds even though she has the sense not to and it’s not the UGH-THIS-IS-SO-TORTUROUS vibe, it’s the yeah-ya-got-me

like she’s charmed in spite of herself

and I don’t think that’s Chair-esque.
