I’ve recently come into possession this bottle of Yang Ling. I don’t know what type of spirit it is I’ve seen it listed as Whisky or Baijiu (Sorghum wine) but I’m not opening or drinking it to find out. 

It’s from the Jiahua Brewery in Yangchun, Guangdong in the South East of China. I’m guessing my Little Nanna got it when she was in Thailand.

My Little Nanna loved odd and peculiar souvenirs and she’d travelled all over the world usually by herself, going To Russia, Egypt, Thailand and America - and those are the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

We called her Little Nanna ‘cause she was just that little, well under 5 foot she would go wherever she felt like and really get into wherever she was (I remember watching UFC with her one sunday morning and she told me how she’d watched Kickboxing in a shitty arena In Bangkok). She was incredibly independent, and did what she wanted and most importantly didn’t care what other people thought of her.

Theres a part of me that thought she’d always be around because of that and when she died suddenly I found it really weird to process. Still do.
