I've seen fans' theories saying that could be Astaroth.

I mean, it's definitely a recolor of Asmo's OG battle sprite, right?

I'm not sure who Astaroth is... was that a name they mentioned once in OG that we never heard of again??? Because if so, I've forgotten all of them lol.

Anyway, yeah, I doubt they're ever gonna give that little Majolish demon a name, so I say you can make them whoever you like! Astaroth, Majolish's owner, Asmo's evil twin, the possibilities are endless!

I haven't really considered who I think they could be, but I kinda like the idea of it being Majolish's main model. Like they use them on all their advertising and they're the face of the store. Of course if Majolish's owner is the type that likes the spotlight, then perhaps it's just a cartoonified version of them. That'd be pretty funny, too, I think.

Once again, the lack of worldbuilding details allows us to come up with so many options of our own!

1) Recently both @confusedhummingbird @spider-jaysart and I have been formulating an idea for a new character to act as a Wonder family member akin to Diana with Bruce and Clark, a character that’s a third POV and brings a more excited and passionate side to the Duo’s dynamic, someone to compliment them on adventures

Hence I shall take this questions as an opportunity to introduce a new character I can further develop in future posts.

Jake’s other best friend if not for Chris Kent would be named Penelope Haney Troy, a clone daughter of Donna Troy aka Troia created by Project Cadmus. She’s the lively, no nonsense, and adventurous type of girl about Jake’s age who’s always there to bring some comfort and fun to his life as he does for her. Her hero codename would be Hoplite with her main teacher being Cassie Sandsmark, similar to how Jake’s main teacher is Tim Drake

Basically think of her as the Donna to Jake’s Dick; platonic best friends, Wonder Twins

Then there’s Chris, for his best friend besides Jake, without doubt that’ll be Thara.

Oh yeah and these are in addition to a classmate Chris knows well back at school and Jasper Logan for Jake as well respectively for other best friends

2) Well that sort of relationship between Zsasz and Jake happens after a particularly difficult and cruel case involving some street orphans who are mercilessly taken by Zsasz, put into a gladiator type tournament where whoever survives then faces (and inevitably loses to) him. When Jake manages to find the location of this wicked scheme, Zsasz had him captured and personally taken into a duel against him, stripped of his powers, most of his equipment and even his own boots for this match. Had Jake won, the surviving children go free so the brave young hero takes that challenge. It was far from an easy fight as Zsasz was armed with both a butcher knife and a familiar rusty crowbar. The beat down Jake endured during this battle left him scarred both physically and emotionally while Zsasz was utterly remorseless in his work. Thus, Jake has deemed Zsasz his personal archenemy ever since

On a meta level, I just felt like Zsasz compliments Jake in that sort of ‘person driven by their commitment to their own’ archetype and give it a unique dark twist to it as Jake can attest to. Plus, since the original version of that arc (which btw introduced the world to Colin Wilkes) has its protagonist regularly nowadays have arch-nemeses linked to the League of Shadows in one form or another more often, that left Zsasz up for grabs thus Jake can fulfill that role

3) Oh I have a good passing knowledge of that book (mainly for the fact it’s further taking name of Chris Kent or rather Lor Zod in general further though the mud but I digress);

Now if there’s any sort of evil or at least anti hero mainline universe counterpart to the Starburst Duo, I would cast them being like a bastard preteen son of Blackfire and the aforementioned Vla-Blo (the young bully Kryptonian who was locked in the Phantom Zone by an ancestor of Chris and had the goal of humiliating the House of Zod for this perceived injustice) who both antagonize our main heroes in many fields with the notion in their minds of proving themselves superior to them, though often to failing results.

At least that’s what I can think of for this moment if anything comes up, I’ll let you know ;-)

4) Probably Mongul, a lot of it due to a time when he’s revealed as a mysterious business partner for Blockbuster regarding trading with for some reversed engineered fear toxin and the brawl that ensued between them and the Warlord tyrant was nothing short of brutal and devastating*, even if they stopped that shipped of fear toxin getting to Mongul’s hands.

*Just picture that what the Duo, also Corvus/Jasper Logan and Hoplite/Penelope Troy went through here with Mongul was akin to what happened with Mark Grayson aka Invincible and his friends when they faced Battle Beast for the first time.

5) Definitely the MCU as a general whole, Family Guy and about a few pro wrestlers they can name off the top of their heads….surprisingly not John Cena. More likely Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, The USOs and definitely The Rock. Heck Dwayne Johnson both in wrestling and especially as a film actor, they can’t stand people who claim he’s the best…or rather fittingly The Great One. It internally the Duo out hearing about him in school all the time.

6) Easily the Monsterverse movies, Hell’s Kitchen, We Bare Bears, and during the Halloween season Hellraiser (that’s if Chris and Jake are feeling brave enough to watch through it’s more gruesome moments lol)

Match 1 and 2...

Carimus and Margaret lost!

Damn you guys took out the whole family in round 1 lol (maggie was also a round 1 loser in the previous tourney)

Carimus: West of Loathing protagonist, part of the "2 bards 1 evil wizard" timeline. He's an edgy snake oiler with a rocky past who firmly believed that nothing in this world could love him (and then something in this world loved him).

Margaret: Shadows over Loathing protagonist, part of the of the "2 bards 1 evil wizard" timeline. She's a cheese wizard, one of two twin daughters of Carimus, and doomed to be evil from the start because she was my shadow taint run lol!! She eventually morphs into the evil monster girlboss Margaret but cooler (or MBC for short).

Match 3 and 4...

Beddin Spectre and Loony lost!

Beddin Spectre: I DONT THINK IVE POSTED HER BEFORE. She's a Shadows over Loathing protagonist, and a milk mage (like cheese wizard but a little to the left). She inspects every bed she can find, even ones she shouldn't be able to reach normally. How does she do it I have no clue honestly she's just built different

Loony: The main protagonist of Pocket Clockwork and an AU version of Moony. She's a lot more quiet and timid than her original counterpart. Loony lives in a small town named Minut Town, going by a nice perfect little schedule every day. Until, yknow, plot happens and such.

What are some of your favorite games of all time?

This is a great question, more questions about video games, less questions where people make up things I never said and demand I defend those positions, XD

Anyway, here's a short list:

Pathfinder: Kingmaker. The best isometric RPG ever made, in my opinion.

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. The best version of one of the best games ever made.

Mass Effect Trilogy. Yeah the third one shit the bed in a lot of ways, but I still enjoy the series as a whole. Playing a game series where your choices carried over from one game to the next was groundbreaking in the 2000s, and I always enjoyed my time with these games. Especially rereleased in the legendary edition.

Resident Evil 2, Original and Remake. My favorite Resident Evil game of all time. Great game, great story, great characters.

Resident Evil 4, original and remake. Second favorite Resident Evil game. Also, my husband's favorite game ever. I love seeing him get excited over it, XD

Suikoden 2. Great gameplay, great story, best game in the series.

Tales of Zesteria. Mikleo my beloved!

Jaws (NES). Yes, it's bad. Yes, it's short. No, I don't care. This was one of the first games I ever owned, and me and my dad used to play it together when I was very little. I have a lot of fond memories of trying to figure out how to beat the game with him. I still remember how excited we were when we started to figure out the gameplay loop for the very first time.

Mortal Kombat 2. The game that introduced me to the series, and still one of my old favorites. I still play and love MK to this day because of it.

Kingdom Hearts, whole series. I can't really pick one game, because they're all both really, really good and really, really bad, XD. But I love the story and the characters, and I've enjoyed each of them in different ways. But if I had to pick just one, I'd probably pick 2.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. Still the best Star Wars game ever made. Still one of the best western RPGs ever made. The plot twist is still one of my favorite moments in video game history.

Max Payne 2. Ugh, so good. Great storytelling, fun gameplay. Took everything great about Max Payne 1 and did it better. RIP James McCaffrey.

MegaMan Battle Network, whole series. Probably the best reimagining of a classic IP I've ever seen, from the old days when "reimagined" didn't mean "vandalized". I was several years older than him when the first game came out, but in a lot of ways I grew up with Lan and his friends, and these games will always have a special place in my heart.

Jade Empire. Another great BioWare western RPG. Great setting, good story, unique characters, and really good and unique-for-the-time combat.

Soul Nomad and the World Eaters. I don't even know why I like this game so much, but I do, lol. They should have given the male PC a romance ending with Gig, though >_<

Pokemon Red and Blue. Pure nostalgia entry, but even though there are a lot of boring Gen 1 haters, to be a 10 year old kid when the original US Pokemon craze was at its peak was something special, and the games and the Pokemon will always be cherished in this house. Gen 1 supremacy, noobs!

Batman Arkham Asylum. You have no idea what it was like growing up a Batman fan and a video game fan in the years before Arkham Asylum. Every Batman game was terrible. It was a running joke how no one could do a good Batman game. Hell, half the word of mouth for AA was "did you hear someone's trying to make a good Batman game?" That they got many of the incredible voices from Batman the Animated Series back was even better. RIP Kevin Conroy and Arleen Sorkin. (And fuck Mark Hamill)

Legacy of Kain, whole series. Aside from Metal Gear Solid, this series is the definitive master class on video game storytelling and voice acting. I love the plot, I love the characters, I love everything. I hate how the ball was dropped so hard after Defiance, because that game set up an amazing follow up that just...never happened. It was such a sad fall from grace, because in the early 2000s this was the AAA game series. Everyone loved it. Everyone was desperate for the next game. And then it just kind of fizzled out after a few missteps and developer woes. And it died a quiet death in a proto-live service multiplayer game that no one wanted and even fewer people played. And while the tragedy is appropriate to the Gothic setting, I'm still hoping against hope for a faithful remake of the first games that spurs the original developers to finally finish the series the way it always deserved.

Honorable Mention: Final Fantasy 8. Gonna be honest here, 70% of my love for this game comes from fanfiction, lol. I played the game when I was a kid, and didn't really like it. It was weird and looked bad (I played it long after I'd gotten used to the "modern" graphics of the PS2 generation) and even with a Codebreaker and cheats the final boss was super frustrating. But there's some really great FF8 fanfic out there. Stuff I reread every few years. And it's given me a phantom nostalgia for the game.

Gilded Family; Chapter 33 - Part Two!

Auric finally gets to tell his story, nice. Glad that you found a place to work it in. Explains Dagger's actions nicely too.

Jason's really not letting him wiggle out of having to tell the truth, is he? Good for him. I think that being briefly separated from his family was good for him, he's matured a lot from the beginning of the story.

I appreciate that you are allowing Belos' side of the story to be told, even if not from Belos' mouth directly. It's easy to cast this whole conflict as a black and white battle of good versus evil, but one of TOH's big themes is that people are complicated! So the shades of gray interpretation holds true to the spirit of the show itself.

:( I do feel sorry for Caleb though, it's... not easy to get called out on the mistakes that you've made, especially by your own family.

Still, rational thought is not the teenage brains' strongpoint, lol. Add in hormones on top of that, and well...

Caleb's right. He was young, dumb and hopelessly in love with someone who his community would never allow him to love. He never could've foreseen the deprived depths his little brother would sink to in order to "get him back".

That being said, however upset and worried for Caleb's safety Philip was, nothing remotely justifies his actions once he did make it to The Demon Realm himself. I mean, man made his first Grimwalker as an adult. An aged adult at that! He doesn't have the grace of just being a kid to fall back on when he started making his biggest mistakes.

Would Caleb having taken Philip with him to The Demon Realm in the first place have changed anything? Whose to say...

Everyone in the Gilded Family owning up to their own individual responsibilities regarding Belos and how they helped him achieve his goals is a wonderfully heartwarming scene.

"“Are we going after him?” they breathed, “Are we finally taking the fight to him? Can I go this time?”"

But is also a rappresentation of wukong worst impulses.

Because of him being able to hear the future, he is able to pull very well the disguise of sun wukong (because yes, he does commit identity theft, and does shapeshift to try and replace wukong), and also uses this disguise to try and kill Tripitaka. (Sun Wukong master.)

long story short, because of this six eared demon being so well at pretending to the point no one can tell, they have to call Buddha himself to understand who is the real sun wukong and who isn't, once the truth gets told, wukong kills the six eared macaque.

now the most believed story for Macaque i was talking about is him being a rappresentation of wukong worst impulses and thoughts, sun wukong evil twin. And when he gets killed by wukong it was basically a metaphor saying "i have killed my flaws" or accepted them, one of the two i don't remember. Because the story is a big metaphor of you having to accept yourself and being conflicted with yourself, pretty sure it was because wukong needed to become better and follow the oath of enlightenment so he had to get rid of his homicidal impulses. talked in my david lynch class today about frankenstein and how his version of the uncanny is entirely opposed to bob (from twin peaks lol)...how frankenstein is made of literal human body parts and is expressed as a kind almost-child, whereas bob is made up of parts of people's minds: the ultimate evil which resides within all of us...bob is all the problems with twin peaks, with the psychological doubled mirror-self, everything within the characters that can be represented by "evil" comes in the form of this nebulous bob character...idk. was interesting to think about it in the context of a human-uncanny–unheimlich in the sense that the body is the home and when that is un-homed in its reflection is too late ...you can never view your double in an objective sense, it confronts you with subjectivity inherently–and in twin peaks BOB is the object where the issue is NOT within the object...it's within the viewer of the object...because the form of the object can never be "canny" or "normal" because of our own subjectivity in viewing the object. it can never be perfect because our gaze is not! -> thus bob represents the ultimate other: ourselves. well yeah.

FUCK. (what a way to start an essay woah) THIS IS MY!!!!! FAVOURITE ACT OF ALTERING THE SOURCE MATERIAL AND IT SUCKS THAT PEOPLE JUST.... do not get it lol. it's an excellent addition and it says sooooo much if you read the text properly... let's look at it shall we:

the worst fate is to be a wife -> the worst fate is to live my life without you in it. she never confesses love!!!! she would... if they were still children. back when i love you only meant i love you ... when it could be something that was solely theirs!!!! she's not saying that she wants to marry him... she's just picking the lesser of what she considers to be two evils... and YEAH, it is a love story, her best friend is absolutely essential to her (which she knows now. that he's gone.) and she is lonely. and man the lifespan of this letter (it is alive to me ok) is simply devastating... it is kept alive in the mailbox laurie introduced, it is locked away thanks to the key laurie's gifted jo and her sisters (her sisters. the only force capable of overpowering jo's ambition). and that, to me, is the perfect metaphor for jo and laurie themselves... keeping each other alive, but at what cost... does the world you created protect you or cut you off from everything else (they are physically separated from everyone during the dance sequence... on the porch while life goes on) their friendship ridicules social norms and jo LOVES that, she loves seeing herself in laurie... and then. and then the person you thought shared your worldview is perfectly happy living the life both of you were supposed to be running away from... she literally tries to embody him here. (WEARING HIS CLOTHES IN THAT SCENE WITH BETH TOO!!!!!)

look at this progression:

they're practically sharing a face in the scene above vs the camera barely even lets them be in the same shot in the scene below and when it does there's a clear drift between them (excellent work with filters too. mwah), like they're not supposed to be in a room together (OBSESSED with how damn physical it all is and it's a FRIENDSHIP!!!! so punk, punk rock equivalent I AM RIGHT)... they embrace, but the focus is on each of their faces separately while the twin boys hug (jo sells her hair moment) from their youth does little to accent their individual features... their faces are mostly hidden...

she's not in love with him!!!!! the person who was supposed to be her equal in everything is just... not the same as her... what if she's the only one dreaming of far away places and pirate ships? well, for one... that would mean she's all alone. I'M NOT IN LOVE WITH YOU!!!! WE ARE JUST THE SAME!!!!! because of you i can love all the crooked parts of me. it's so fucked up actually lmaooo. back to the letter... THE DEATH SCENE (letters can die) look at the script, this fucking haunts me:

once it left the mailbox, the letter has to die... "she might end her suffering in the most tragic way - she leans towards the river"... just... the loss of friendship synchronized with physical impairment. it's all about the idealized world you've created in your head blending with the harsh version of reality you've also created in your head and resulting in The Unknown (the truth is always in the in-between) and jo wants the world to just ... stop altogether because of this... she can't get the bookish culmination of events, neither the fairytale nor the tragedy... she can't love laurie differently so no Happy Ending from her romance novels (she reads them!!!! we always forget it, but she loves romance novels!!!) and everything is so mind-numbingly passive so no Shakespearean Death... (i'd even argue that she doesn't end her suffering in the most tragic way because she finds her reality lacking in events that would support that sort of final act... also ties in to my thoughts on the movie's particular manner of storytelling! nothing Important ever happens, but lives keep on changing... amy march gets it!!!!) idk man... just. the letter. it's all about the letter.

So actually in House of Mistakes, Patricia was not supposed to be the temp Osirian. However, it was a way more fun plot to write, and also I wanted to explore the potential of the Osirian powers more. Like in TOR this man glows purple. I wanted more of that action in S3!!

I also wasn’t originally planning for KT to have a crush on Patricia which is nuts bc that’s a major subplot. But yeah, that developed a little later and so I went back and edited earlier chapters to reflect that. Actually, I’m currently going through a reread of the fic and fixing/adding/deleting bits of it. Doing a little fine-tuning if you will. So if you reread it now, you might find things slightly different.

And for Two is Company, believe it or not, there is a version where Kira is manipulated by Caroline right out of the gate once we hit S3 and is working with the adults. I wanted to explore the parallels between the relationship between the chosen sibling who has the weight of the world on their shoulders & the ordinary but capable sibling who feels rejected. I also wanted to explore how that would have affected her relationship with Eric and Eddie, as well as her friends. It would be particularly interesting for her and Eddie though, given the fact that while she was always the more accomplished of the two, in reality Eddie was far superior to her on the grand stage of destiny. (Think the extended version of “Crossing the Line” from Tangled the Series. Very much how the sibling relationship is framed between the twins)

Ultimately, however, this didn’t fit with the original structure of how Kira was created (by Instagram polls lol). Her fate was decided by the fandom when she was created, and I wanted to stay true to that. So Team Evil!Kira Miller was scrapped. It’s kind of a shame because I think this arc would have been rewarding, but I think what I have planned instead is equally as fulfilling for all the characters. At least imo. Some of y’all who actually read this fic might look at this alternate version and go “damn that would have been way better”

Anyway this was a super long answer to this ask! Thank you for indulging me. Also YES I PROMISE I WILL UPDATE GLASS HOUSES, as well as everything else I have to update 😭 I’m sorry I’m literally only able to focus on one long fic at a time and that means I end up shelving so many fics. my top oc is Brooke who's Buffy's younger identical twin sister and became a slayer at the same time as her. she stemmed from a thought experiment about how slayers work and things that could glitch it like say, potentially identical twins. it's also a way to explore the whole slayer vs girl thing. the best way to describe her is aesthetically 00s Britney meets Sporty Spice and personality wise she's a mix of Faith and Buffy. if Cordelia is Buffy's "rode not traveled" shadow self then Brooke is faith's Cordelia, she's kinda coarse sports girl ace who when she fails into some Serious Life Issues like drugs has family and friends who support her. it a version of life i can see faith thriving in but she never got. they also date in s3 (it goes badly lol). the twins tend to share slayer dreams and if one dies the other will also die because they're not 2 slayers like Buffy and Faith, they register as 1 slayer (like i said before they're a slayer glitch) and they found that out the hard way. i could go on for ages but i will Refrain lol

Charlotte Worth is a watcher who gets assigned to faith and has big emma frost energy. she's a wealthy new englander who like, Cares About Children even while being a stole cold bitch. she and Faith end up having a good relationship bc Charlotte consistenly got to bat for her and is just very Mom-Like to her which you know..... kinda fucks Faith up a lot lol. she's a necromancer as well and not afraid to use that against people. in one fic i have her using her necromancy to solve the whole "Darla has to die to save the baby" shit in ats. and like yeah it kills her but only for a second! she gets better! she's between Giles and Wesley in age and she bullies both of them.

Katherine "Kat" Farwell is the scion of the Farwell family, one the founding families of Sunnydale (so they're evil lol). She's also not the host for an old one. she is an old one. basically her family is the sunnydale branch of a global cult spanning millennia that worships the power that be/old one whomst created humankind and have worked to slowly return them to the earth after they died trying to build a utopia for humanity safe from the demons of the primordial age. ofc this means deals with demons, ritual sacrifices, magic eugenics etc etc etc. like Kat had siblings! never met any of them! did get fed them tho! the idea is just bringing forth more of their god's essence and then distilling it into a single host via breeding and cannibalism and that kinda shit (it's all only possibly bc mankind was made from this old one's flesh so). it's terrible! kat's nice tho. she's a mix of daria and rory from gilmore girls. she's class president and one of the only 2 survivors of the sunnydale high art club. between the fights with glory and jasmine (whomst she devours ofc) she fully transitions to pure old one and is honestly like.... Weirder But The Same tbh. she doesn't look different like illyria vs fred but she has an uncanny valley vibe to her looks. she's basically you know, an eldritch god on earth that no one could kill if they tired but she's nice and not interested in destroying the world so it works out. maloker is her archnemesis bc they're STILL pissed off about the defilement and corruption of their fave creation he did in the making of vampires. the mc vampires get a pass but they're on THIN ICE.
