DOTTORE WITH STUBBLE,, God he so would, because he's an annoying mf. You're in his lap? Cuddling and spooning? His face is nuzzled into the crook of your neck and you can feel the stubble literally stabbing you in your neck and cheek. His arms are tight around you too so you can't leave even if you want to, you can kick your feet and whine but the only thing he'll keep doing is hum while he continues to nudge his stubbled chin across you... 😭 Eventually, you accept your skin getting assaulted by his scratchy stubble is a part of your daily routine... perhaps it's not too bad? He gets to focus and you get (some) attention! (Delusional!)

He only shaves properly when you start giving more attention to his younger segments who don't harass you with stubble since he got jealous. (I just know Webttore has the most loveliest squishy cheeks. His mask literally has his whole cheek on display he's just begging you to squish it a little!!! :3 Be careful before he bites you though-)

i saw that you're currently reading my stand-in novel but you're not really spoiling anything. how are you finding it so far if i may ask? is it as angsty as people say it is?

(i waited until the end of the day to answer this because as i thought i've already finished the novel, so much for self-restraint lol also sorry this got a bit long... oops?)

i enjoyed it a lot! and it made me get over my reading slump, so i will even excuse it getting into some tropes i'm not particularly fond of at the end. it got cheesy…er, and not even in a way i like. amazingly, that didn't make me like it any less.

from the synopsis of the series and the tags in novel updates (and i only skimmed those because i didn't want to get spoiled) i had a pretty good idea of what the novel was going to be like, which is why i decided not to really liveblog since, transmigration aside, i'd say it's a pretty straightforward story. i could be persuaded to make a recap if there's interest though, since there's still over three weeks left until the series starts airing and i'm probably going to go over everything again and take notes anyway...

and oh, is it angsty! the whole thing hinges on zhou xiang (joe) being a sweet angel baby and yan mingxiu (ming) being a fucking idiot, and it's pretty much what you can expect from any dogblood/makjang with the scum ml, misunderstandings, heartbreak, regrets, etc. i have to say i'm not usually a fan of the misunderstanding trope bc i tend to find it annoying, but as with most tropes i don't particularly enjoy it's because of the way i often see it done. here it was painful for everyone involved, so i really liked it. also, please keep in mind that i'm a huge fan of big character development and characters redeeming themselves, so. there's that. wink wonk. (i've been reading some reviews and think for some people it may be best to know what kind of story this is before going in, other than because of triggers–which, very important if you need them, at least in the novel–because of the whole. scum ml more than anything lol even though yan mingxiu is not that scummy really!)

i love my stories character-driven, so having them being this well fleshed out and compelling was a joy, and being able to see so clearly what both zhou xiang and yan mingxiu were thinking and feeling, sometimes a lot earlier than they themselves could (please bl gods keep at least some of the internal monologue in the series, i am begging), was soooooo ugh. you're supposed to hate yan mingxiu allegedly but i just couldn't, not even in his scum era, because he was so obvious and so oblivious and so set in his own ideas he kept gaslighting himself into not noticing things. this could have gotten frustrating pretty easily, but again, everything feed into the delicious, delicious suffering. that being said, and because it doesn't seem to be a popular opinion... i think it's important to empathise with both of them, or at least sympathise, for maximum enjoyment of all that angst. you cannot cry over yan mingxiu's pain if you want him to get hit by a bus.

oh and the relationships (not only the cp's, though their progression is really good) are very important in this story, which is something i hope we get to see more of in the series because i ended up missing certain side characters in the later chapters. not tan yin though, i hope that fuck ass didn't make it into the series. how is a character so annoying while being in maybe six scenes total.

i can't say if it's good or not but it was extremely enjoyable, zhou xiang is my sweet darling angel baby, yan mingxiu is okay too (if you see me in the trenches defending him in about a month…), and i can't believe i am now, somehow, even more excited for my stand-in.

(My back has literally been getting so bad recently that I can barely be hunched over my chair before the pain comes in😭)

For how much time Dottore spends hunched over a desk himself, he can easily see and notice if you're having back pain. Needless to say, he's rather annoyed you don't take your own advice... (you constantly harping at him to take breaks from his work.) However, obviously, he's not going to let you keep hurting your back. You're his assistant, you need to be in top shape. (You're his darling too, who he cares for, but that part is conveniently left out.)

You're probably a bit embarrassed to be lying on your tummy nude as he looms over you, but Dottore isn't phased in the slightest. In time the embarrassment and nervousness die down as he hits the exact point with just the right amount of pressure. Getting rid of a lot of the tightness and stiffness in your back. He makes fun of your expression during the whole thing, but you can't bring yourself to care, his hands are very skilled.

If you want to coerce Dottore (lovingly) into giving you a massage, just tell him that you're going to hire another random professional to do it for you... he shuts that down extremely quickly... he is not letting anyone else see you like that. (But don't be surprised if he tickles you painfully or something, he will be a bit devious and snarky.)

I think I said before that I am indifferent to every tgcf ship that’s not hualian, so same goes here. However, this ship would only work as one-sided on pei ming’s end, and I think the revisions make this canon? Of course, Pei Ming doesn’t deserve the dirt beneath Yushi Huang’s shoes, though, which is why she ignores his ass. Shipping her with the man responsible for her death, this fandom sure is audacious…

Wukong turning into a bustard while fighting Erlang, why did Erlang decided to shoot him down then?

So funny thing about the bustard apparently and while I am not an animal expert or even know to what length the bustard is to symbolize depravity or shamelessness within literature but apparently it is enough for Erlang Shen to stop mid-battle and REFUSE to get close to not catch whatever "immodest" vibes this bird apparently gives off!

Anytime I try to look up any symbolic meaning this bird could have it is usually more like 'connection to regality' or 'good fortune' so I'm not sure if it was common knowledge back this or some kind of pun that has been lost to time. Though I have heard it said that it is because Erlang Shen was a crane at the moment that he had to give superiority to Wukong in the battle as he was a creature that... hypothetically defile him. There is kind of a reoccurring joke where Wukong takes like a treasure from a demon and duplicates it to give them a fake treasure, while he has the real one. Thus when the treasure doesn’t work for the demon, Wukong always explains that it is because he has the male treasure and they have the female treasure, and wife would never lash out against the husband so to speak. And I’ve seen some people say that this is a similar joke as the crane would not lash out against the bustard ard. As such is Erlang’s aspiration to change quickly and just shoot him XD

First, I just want to excuse because English is not my first language. So my question is what can you say about why Yuan Qi (Gu Jin) accidentally kills A Yin due to the reason that A Yin let the Fox Prince escape (although her reasoning is right) I think her just deciding to free Hong Yi even though there's really a Devil that controlled him, just felt disrespectful to the immortals who died but also risked her life who Hong Ri, Yuan Qi (Gu Jin), and Yan Shuang tried so hard to extend. Because as I watched and I saw a lot of reviews supporting to not forgive Yuan Qi for accidentally killing A Yin when they can clearly see the Point of View of Yuan Qi that he is also in pain. The one accused of the murder of those in Daze Mountain and the Heavenly Emperor is someone who he got close to at some point even though they don't get along much but they accompany each other in travelling in order to collect Feng Yin's scattered spiritual energy and extend A Yin's life. On the other hand, the immortals in Daze Mountain, A Yin and Yuan Qi (Gu jin) they are close to them and it makes it difficult to decide on sentencing the accused (Hong Yi) because they are close to him.

I just don't get all the hate to the character of Yuan Qi (Gu Jin) and why even other entity is opposed to him when he just followed through what is right. He even made changes to make the punishment to A Yin a bit lighter and they also shown the despair in his face after he realized that A Yin cannot take it. The pointers I got from Yuan Qi's parents Shanggu and Bai Jui that being a True God means they still need to follow through on what's right and not what they feel they should do, like taking note on how Shanggu and Bai Jue's relationship it's also chaotic. Being a True Gods/ddesses means Duty then Love.

I hope you can make it clear to me because I'm getting confuse. Thank you so much.

hi anon! apologies for not getting to this sooner. have you watched the recent episodes? i'm not sure if that already answered your questions or not, but here's my take.

what's important to remember here is that the devils had already made hong yi their scapegoat. if he had gone through the trial/punishment, he would've died. there was a lack of time to prove everything so a yin had no choice. it would've been more disrespectful to the immortals if they had punished the wrong person and let the devils get away. also, don't forget! a yin and gu jin's senior brothers already knew that hong yi was not the one doing the murders! they already asked a yin to reveal the real truth and essentially help hong yi.

for your other point: we the audience saw that yong yi, gu jin, and yan shuang spent a lot of time and effort to help a yin, but a yin does not know. and i don't think her friends want her to know. as friends, they are willing to help each other, not because they expect gratefulness or gifts.

in true xianxia genre style, there are sacrifices made for each other without the other person knowing--which leads to unintentional consequences. that's kind of the whole point.

for example: gu jin, in trying to save a yin from death, gives his command seal to hua shu--who later uses it to deceives a yin, making a yin think that gu jin doesn't care about her. in trying to save a yin, gu jin indirectly harms her ! it's tragic.

i also personally don't understand all the hate for gu jin/yuan qi, but i can see why some people are frustrated, especially on the point of gu jin not being more honest/transparent and communicative with a yin. his whole personality in the beginning of the drama was that he was very straightforward and always tried to clear any confusion with a yin. but after he got his emotional threads back (and after he had that one talk from his aunt), he started to keep things from a yin and then tried to shoulder everything on his own. it felt jarring to see him act like this. if he had just talked to a yin and if they could've just worked through some of the obstacles together, then a yin wouldn't have been kept in the dark for so long and wouldn't have suffered so much.

though it's true that gu jin suffered physically for a yin, he was willing. it was his choice. but for a yin, she never had choices. she suffered from other people's actions and from being kept in the dark. this makes it very frustrating/sad to watch a yin who faced injustice over and over.

but personally, i think this is the tragedy of the entire show.

gu jin, forced to become True God yuan qi through the death of his entire sect, forced to take on responsibilities he never wanted, forced to do a job he was never trained for. (We have to remember that Bai Jue and Shanggue grew in the God Realm, with other Gods. Yuan Qi, on the other hand, was pretty much a child in the God Realm briefly before he was brought to the Immortals Realm). He's forced to focus on Duty before Love, but he's trying to have it all--and he's failing.

For a yin, we know that feng yin will get her justice later in the drama, but the tragedy of a yin's death is that she dies at her lowest of low: no home, seen as an accomplice or helper of the devils, her actions misunderstood, her loved one (gu jin) seemingly not trusting her. she dies believing she is unloved. she dies, wronged.

I think it's super tragic all around.
