I kinda fell out of the BL game the last several months thanks to irl things, but I think I'm finally feeling like wading fully back in. I started with Love Syndrome III(only because @heretherebedork piqued my interest) and just finished Moonlight Chicken. What should I watch next? My limits are romanticized sexual assault, cheating, miscommunication as a main plot point, and no HEA. I could also do without a straight side couple, but I'd tolerate it if the main plot and couple are really good. Bonus points if there's a D/s dynamic, but that's not 100% necessary.

Our Dating Sim (Viki) - if you haven't watched this it's a must. I actually handed out a 10/10. I NEVER do that. I can't tell you how much I loved this show (or have already rewatched it). It's a perfect short form KBL, an office set reunion romance featuring geeks that really suits 8 eps with no fluff and no chaff. Just comforting and yummy. Full review.

The New Employee (Viki) - just so good, SO QUEER, so soft, a near pitch perfect office BL with conflict derived from that setting. Also... Rainbow Rice Cakes and found fam and a lesbian bestie and all the goodness. My review is on MDL.

The Eighth Sense (Viki) - speaking of queer, this one is a bit rough (sticky and gritty), more in the Moonlight Chicken area. But very high quality, fabulous chemistry, and a remarkably complex offering for a KBL - think Blueming-esk but even better.

Unintentional Love Story (iQIYI) - @heretherebedork and I LOVED this one, but it is kinda hard to get hold of. I found the seme a bit stiff and reserved but Gongchan (who plays the uke) is a fucking GIFT. He has THE MOST expressive eyes, just drown in the emoting abyss. The external conflict tension and pressure is complex and excellent plus Korea gave us legit side dishes (NOT a love triangle, hally-fucking-luya). Review on MDL.

My School President (YouTube) - I adored this one! My favorite GMMTV offering in dog's age, and my new favorite pair GeminiFourth. It could have gotten a 10/10 from me but for too much singing. This is the side pair from Moonlight Chicken anchoring a high school BL full of the most teenage pining ever and it's GREAT.

All the Liquors (Viki, Gaga) - another KBL hitting hard and solid. This one is KBL-weird in the way of Tasty Florida or Behind Cut (which I've gotten used to, but is kinda a "type" now). It will wig you out if you have any baggage around alcohol. The logic behind the phobias are typically Asian romance qua? BUT it's still quite cute.

Never Let Me Go (YT) - of GMMTV handing out new series to established pairs this has been the most successful IMHO. PondPhuwin were about 10000x better in this than FUTS (and that's FUTS's fault, not theirs). It's typically Thai in that its a bit bloated and has a confusing plot, but at least it HAD a plot and the central relationship is solid and loyal. Their Our Skyy 2 follow up is also good. And very much adds to the cannon in a fun way rather than feeling superfluous - making this show ultimately 14 eps rather than the usual 12.

Bed Friend (YT, iQIYI, Gaga) - speaking of a bit bloated, this one derailed somewhat in plot for me (even at 10 eps) but NetJames really are glorious, and absolutely the hottest and the prettiest of 2023. Full of triggers for childhood abuse and sexual assault (backstory), but the main pair is very communication-heavy and based on a fuck buddy premise which has negotiation and everything, unique & fun to see. This is my high heat rec for the year so far, because the heat is PART OF THE PLOT and that's a gift we don't usually get. Review on MDL.

Between Us (iQIYI) - I'm still processing this one. I didn't have as high expectations as most but it was still a little disappointing. BounPrem are lovely of course, but somehow it just wasn't quite what I wanted. I did a watch along for this one so you can see me struggle. However, objectively, held up against other BLs? It's actually pretty darn good.

I hope some of these you haven't seen. None have romanticized sexual assault, cheating, or miscommunication as a main plot point (hum... maybe Between Us? Honestly I can't remember the plot points, it was all over the place), and all have HEA (this is me after all(.

Youtube influencer AU. who's doing book reviews, who's shilling skincare and cosmetics, who does urban exploring vlogs and keeps getting caught breaking into abandoned buildings?

Oh I like this one! They're all like early 20s in this because I feel like that would lean into the most chaotic dynamics.

Matt is essentially still doing BTE, but from a fan perspective. He's got really absurd wigs and pretends to be certain wrestlers. He gets actual wrestlers as a guest sometimes, but people from his local indies mostly. He also has a slice of life vlog from time to time where he expresses his frustrations about his younger brother's antics, who is...

Nick Jackson: Cryptid Annihilator. He has not gotten within 10 feet of let alone annihilated even a single squirrel. He's convinced he can tempt Mothman with a siren call, which is a "ba CAW!" you can hear from time to time in the background of Matt's videos. He has more than once expressed that his life's goal is to get railed by Mothman, but he's willing to simply meet a cryptid. The closest he got was running into Bryan Danielson, famed yoga youtuber, when he was doing yoga in the woods and Nick was on the hunt for Bigfoot. But that ended with him in a headlock, so he kind of pretends it never happened.

Adam Page is a climate and nature vlogger. His main focus is on sharing the damage climate change has done to areas over time, but his most popular video is an attempt at a collaboration with Nick. Mid video, the two of them started arguing over whether or not Mothman was real or a fictionalized rationalization of climate change until Matt, who was hanging out in the other room, stomped in and yelled, "Would you two just kiss already?!" They've been together 3 years and have not stopped arguing with each other and Matt. He's also in a mild war with Bryan for best nature vlogger because he doesn't think being half naked in the woods counts as nature vlogging.

Daniel Garcia is a gossip/sports blogger. Mainly, he and his best friend Zay shit talk everybody as much as they want and there's never any backlash because the two of them are so goddamned charming in person everybody gives up. Daniel is also an insufferable flirt, which probably has something to do with it. There's rumors he's been spotted in the background of Renee Paquette's wrestling vlog in the indie promotion she runs with Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley, but nobody can prove it was him making out with Eddie in that two-frame shot in the background.

They all meet up at a con one summer and shit gets...weird. Nick thinks he spots Mothman, jumps him, and knocks the head off only to reveal a dude with dark hair and a weird little smile. "What the hell is wrong with you, dude?" Wheeler Yuta, frequent commenter and viewer of all the previously discussed vlogs. "Can't a dude cosplay?" Matt helps Wheeler clean up and finds rants about Mothman and steel drums and cryptids far more appealing when they're coming from a guy this cute.

Move in silence 🤫

2024 I’m moving in silence period. Too many losers and leeches who won’t do the work and hate on your success. I recently had job interview and didn’t tell everyone. I won’t know if I got the job till Tuesday or Wednesday.

People tell they plans cause they seek validation and approval from others. At 31 I don’t need people validation or approval. What people don’t know they can’t destroy. I had so many women hating on me cause I refuse to be mediocre. I hold myself accountable and dont point finger or blame others for shit I should be doing.

Some people addicted to they bad habits and bare minimum. At 31 I realized I needed go harder and less excuses. And I’m blossoming into a baddie. I dont care to know what others doing cause I’m to busy worrying about myself. Stop telling your business and ruining your life cause you are naïve about how most people think. Majority of people are losers. Only 1 % of people are winners.

People you call friends should have goals and productive and letting go bad habits, and holding themselves accountable and showing action and not just words. Who don’t gossip about people cause they too busy improving their lives. Who gives you what you give them. Who never drains you and doesn’t play the blame game. I agree and believe you are who you hang out with seriously. Stop hanging and associating with women who are losers and accepts bare minimum and low maintenance and don’t take accountability for themselves and low standards. She will hate on you and backstab you.

2024 I’m focused on myself and my goals. And learning consistency, discipline, dedication, commitment, and determination. I will be having success stories left to right. Most will not know my blessings cause I don’t believe in bragging and most will hate your success. If you gone tell make sure you accomplish the goal first and then tell. But never tell when you are planning and working for the goal. Cause once you accomplish a goal and they hate thei can’t do shit cause you already accomplished the goal.

I will be doing a video on this for my YouTube channel and explaining this with words from spirit and ancestors. 2024 my year. I refuse to be who I was in 2023. Im so happy since 18 I been in therapy and focus on improving myself. It’s been years and I’m finally reaping the benefits of therapy at 31. More black women should go to therapy and heal and do better.

Spirit and ancestors is all I need. I can do bad all by myself I don’t need another human being approval or validation period. Im too much of a bad bitch to care about others approval and validation. I hold and have the key to success and truth is some people can’t go to the promised land with you. We would accomplish more if we got rid of people who are dead weight. I know my worth and is a beautiful and intelligent and hardworking and well put together bad bitch. And stand out and rather hang by myself then fake people.

Got my 3 new wigs. Will try do quick review. Got Chinese food today. And worked out twice today. And did good at job interview. And busy working on my goals everyday. My goal is week of intermittent fasting 16:8. And gym once this week. Really need be stricter and actually go gym and interment fast 16:8. If I have more updates I all update y’all. The glow up level of journey isn’t for faint of heart. 💖💖😍😍😍

Adding more ideas to the streamer au cause I love it:

Jack’s white hair and blue eyes are fake; he dies his hair and wears contacts. He had a white wig early on but soon switched to dying it because he liked how it looked on him.

Rapunzel had a lot of family drama go on behind the scenes that she doesn’t like to talk much about but she is in one of Anthony Padilla’s videos and just airs the whole thing out and it’s insane insane (pretty much just her canon backstory but modern).

Merida’s family is like, really rich. She doesn’t share that info but she always had the high tech stuff even when she was starting out.

Hiccup and his dad had a short falling out about his career as a streamer. Stoick thought, understandably, that is wasn’t a viable career but came around when that first big check arrived.

Jack joins the GSMP (Guardians Survival Multiplayer) and the other three are so proud of him (cause that’s a huge opportunity).

Charity streams!!! Every time they hit a goal they do a challenge/dare or something. They get Hiccup in a maid outfit for it once and he hates everyone for a solid hour.

As most streamers do, they all have connecting YouTube channels.

Jack’s is mostly just stream recordings edited down or compilations his editor puts together (think Wilbur Soot’s channel minus the music videos).

Rapunzel’s channel is a little bit of everything. Stream recordings, baking videos, guitar playing videos, book reviews, you name it it’s probably on there.

Hiccup’s channel is similar to Jack’s but his is where all the vlogs end up going. Rapunzel videos most of the time (sometimes they hire a camera person) and Hiccup likes to edit them so he posts them.

Merida’s channel gets uploads like just stream recordings (though they are much more frequent than Jack’s). They’re usually just silly things like “unban requests” “fans send me bad tiktoks” etc.

They always talk about starting a “Big 4” channel but that never ends up happening because they’re all too scatterbrained.

They go to cons together every time and get into the craziest shit.

They get invited to parties but they mostly like to cause chaos in their hotels.

Jack takes them to a Walmart for the first time and they go insane. Like the regular energy of a Walmart mixed with the Big 4? Crazy.

Will never turn a fan away. Like even if they’re in a bad mood, they immediately perk up upon meeting a fan.

They never live together just because none of them want to be far away from their families, but they will make trips to each others’ country every once in a while.

Merida and Hiccup are the closest to each other so they’re most often hanging out.

The shipping is rampant but they try not to let it get between them.

They love fan art.

Someone draws Rapunzel as Sailor Moon and she freaks out. It becomes a permanent piece in the background of her streams.

Speaking of, they all love anime too. Around Halloween they dress up as the cast of an anime they started watching together.

IQIYI Trailers Review, Lightening Round

With the disclaimer that trailers aren’t representative of quality, I’ve been disappointed by trailers and then enjoyed the drama, and vice versa.

The order is just the orders which I watched them, aka the order that IQIYI uploaded onto their YouTube channel.

Also, I noticed there’s a lot of xianxia and wuxia, and my record with that genre has been spotty at best.

*drumroll*

Love of the Divine Tree: very pretty, probably too Xianxia for my liking, but it currently doesn’t look like it’s dubbed over (yay!) and it’s like a 2-way shizunfucker? Anyways, the gifs will sure be pretty.

For Love: I guess this series exists to give ZLH’s hairline a break from the wigs. The brief trailer is pretty, but also very “this could double as an ad for some expensive jeans.” No seriously, I was half expecting the trailer to end with “Ralph Lauren Jeans.” Why does the MDL summary make this drama sound like a porno though (hotel manager meets eastern medicine doctor who cures her insomnia *wink wink*)

Perfect Her: … I almost didn’t click on the trailer bc it looks like another slick modern but it looks bonkers (like 2008 TW Drama bonkers). I really do not like dubbing in modern dramas, but I might just check it out. I feel like it needs more soap opera background music.

A Lonely Hero’s Journey: there are more sausages than a 4th of July hot dog cookout. Unlikely my genre, but the lack of dubbing is nice.

Reborn for Love: I admit, I have been excited for this one most because I like both leads and I’ve liked a good chunk of the director’s work so far (under the power, sword and brocade, and legend of zhuohua). I don’t love Jing Tian’s eyeshadow. But it looks like no dubbing so far? Which is fantastic. I’ll never get why Zhuohua dubbed over Feng Shao Feng.

Fox Spirit Matchmaker, red moon pact: I feel like I’ve seen a variation of this trailer since last year. Everyone looks pretty. I’m not sure about the Yang Mi-Gong Jun pair but we shall see.

Foxy, Love in the pavilion: the trailer certainly didn’t communicate what the plot might be about, but Liu Shi Shi looks great.

Foxy, Sword and Beloved: I think this one captures my attention the most bc it is hinting at an actual plot? But also, I can’t stop thinking about the Cheng Yi kabob and I’m surprised they didn’t cut a segment of Cheng Yi spitting blood.

A Moment But Forever: whyyyy the dubbing? It looks a bit too Xianxia for my taste but I swear the dubbing made it feel so much more generic than it probably is. Liu Xueyi looks great though.

Fangs of Fortune: visually stunning. Not holding my breath for an amazingly cohesive plot bc GJM is gonna GJM. But also, it’s weirdly Witcher-like which I honestly might be into. We’ll see.

Snowy Night, Timeless Love: it might be too wuxia for my liking. But it visually looks stunning. Also could double for a perfume ad.

Northward: listen, if no amount of Wang Kai can make me watch 大江大河, no amount of Bai Lu can make me watch this. It looks like it’s going to be well done, but I can smell the CCP propaganda from this side of the pacific.

Follow Your Heart: this was not on my radar but I’m excited??? The plot is very much the type of historical romance mystery that I read. So it should be fun!

I hope it's OK to ask, but would you be willing to give any advice on buying and wearing wigs for women? I'm also suffering from hair loss despite still being young (it's the hereditary kind unfortunately, and treatment doesn't seem to help) and I'm pretty intimidated by the prospect. Like, are wigs convincing? Are they a lot of work to wear or take care of? Thanks for any advice.

I started losing my hair when I was 17, so not as young as some, but I was in highschool and it was devastating.

I've been clocked twice (I know of) in my 7 years of wearing wigs, and I've been told easily over 100 times that people don't believe I'm wearing wigs or are surprised when I tell them (I always tell people it's one when the compliment my hair. I choose interesting colors or curly styles so I get a comment about once a week. More when I had a pure white wig that was surprisingly VERY convincing) so yes, there are wigs that are convincing. I was talking to a new friend the other day when we were out and I made a joke about wearing wigs bevause I had been running late that morning and I can just literally throw my hair on and she was like ???? Wig?????

I could probably find better wigs, but I found a bunch of alopecia ladies on YouTube and they got their wigs from wigs.com or wigsoutlet and so I've been getting my wigs there. The first wig I ever got was from an irl store!!!! There was a lady who specialized in wig fitting and alopecia hair. I got lucky there. I'd recommend watching some YouTube videos on wig reviews as well as how to make the wig fit you better/seem more natural, like plucking the hairline or adding concealer to the lace.

I have a long list of wigs in varying conditions (I still keep ones that are ratty because I have very specific up dos I like to wear the curly ones in to hide the rattiness and it keeps the new ones fresher.

Depends on the wig how long it will last and how to care, straight will last longer because you can steam them easier and they tangle less (so they say) but I personally think curly or wavy looks most natural for me because there's more chaos. I use a spray conditioner sometimes, mostly use my fingers to brush curly wigs, a wig comb for the straight ones. Curly ones may sometimes need a deep brushing, but not often. My wigs last me minimum 5 months, I get them on sale or I make a new email and new account on wigs.com and use the welcome15 code

Gwen and Heather both have youtube channels and I feel like we as a fandom forget that a lot. It opens up so many questions. Did Gwen make an apology video after World Tour ended? How many subscribers Heather got? WHO ELSE OF THE CAST HAS ONE TOO???

Anyways yes there is so much untapped cursed potential in knowing Heather and Gwen are youtubers, I do definitely think Gwen did an apology video after the world tour incident and then promptly vanished of the face of the internet and the public eye until her one cameo in ROTI and then going to AS to try and fix things with Courtney.

Heather gives me make up and beauty channel vibes so I think that’s what she’d do, or maybe gossip stuff, or all three combined. Also while she was bald she 100% made wig reviews.

Lastly, Geoff has that Youtuber personality, you get me? He has that always upbeat and cheerful demeanor to him that a lot of the big youtubers have.

Hi there. Congrats on your first cosplay! Welcome to this fun hobby.

If you haven't checked out this website yet, it's an archive of Homestuck related cosplay tutorials and guides. They have a sections dedicated to specific characters, so just scroll down to you find Dave.

The difficulty of this cosplay depends on which version of Dave you are cosplaying. WhatPumpkin used to sell official Dave shirts, both plain white tee shirts and the red sleeve baseball tees. You should be able to find either of those on eBay pretty easily. Here is an etsy listing for made to order Dave shirts. If you're looking for more DIY, purchasing a shirt at a thrift store and modifying it is also a great option. Here's a tutorial for using heat transfers for the shirt logos.

Here is a Dave cosplay guide. It's for his godtier outfit, but should help you out nonetheless.

Thrift stores would be a great place to start for aviator sunglasses. I think every pair of glasses I ever bought for cosplays were from Walmart or the Dollar Tree, so those are also good starting places if you have them locally.

Here's a link to a pretty cheap blonde wig to get you started. When I first started this blog 10 years ago, there wasn't much of a market for cosplay items on Amazon yet. I've bought a few wigs from there over the years. Just always check reviews! Some other good cosplay specific wig sites are Arda Wigs, EpicCosplay Wiigs, and the Five Wits Wigs, bu they are all on the pricier side because they sell very high quality synthetic wigs. A simple Amazon or eBay wig is plenty to start off with, though. Here's a wig styling tutorial on YouTube.

Unforgotten Nights (Weds on GaGa) Ep 1 - why yes I do like it better than KP, expectations are a bitch, aren’t they? TRASH WATCH REBORN!

KinnPorsche (Sat iQIYI) Ep 12 - This ep featuring dum arguments, bad pottery and questionable hair. Why is Chay suddenly in an awful wig? Did he have ror dor? VegasPete are saving this show but still a dead hedgehog does not a cactus make. (Well THERE’S a sentence.)

Sky in Your Heart (Fri YouTube) Ep 4 - It’s cute I guess.

Love Mechanics (Sat WeTV) Ep 1 - oh it’s great, also very very messy, but in my part of the world you need a sub to watch it and I am just not going to. I love YinWar, but not enough.

Check Out (Sat IQIYI) Ep 3 - Getting back together with your ex is a bitch especially when she is? I guess we know why Daonuea was ghosted. This is definitely a messy cheating story, although actually nothing happened.

To My Star 2 (Korea Viki) Ep 5-6 - oh it is extremely painful and I just can’t. Pass me another tissue and more ttopokki. (I may be disassociating with BL because of this show.)

Senpai, Danjite Koidewa! AKA Senpai, This Can’t be Love! (Japan Fri Viki) Ep 2 - I don’t love this one, but I love the flipped POVs. It’s taking me a while to warm to Kaneda, but I finally found him cute when I realized how painfully subby he is. Also a TOTAL praise slut. I’m not there yet but I think I’m getting there. No ep next week, resumes week after.

Plus & Minus (Taiwan Viki *rec* & GaGa Fri) Ep 12fin - Why the baseball field? That bit I don’t get. This is probably the most cheek-kissy couple ever – kings of the trope! Both couples are cute and kiss pretty in this one. All in all, I’m satisfied. It’s not groundbreaking, I liked all the cameos. I don’t know why Vicky says that there are 15 episodes on this one. Obviously this is the end. In conclusion, solid sweet unassuming little show. Full review here. 8/10 RECOMMENDED

Want to See You (Vietnam YT) Ep 3-4 - The faen fatale character is just so asinine in this one. The brother is truly adorable though.

Love in Spring (Korea grey) Ep 9-10 . . .

Frankly, I picked up Alchemy of Souls which is the Kdrama take on a wuxia dumpster fire I have been waiting for. It’s het, but I do not care because it’s like CW level craptostic and apparently that was all I wanted in life. What I’m saying is: I have a limited capacity for flowing robes, scenery chewing villains, wooden female leads, and slightly terrible fight sequences. So I am less enamored of Love in Spring, and I already wasn’t much enamored of it. I’m not saying I’m DNFing, just that my judgement is off.

Gossip

W-Story, the Korean production house behind Where Your Eyes Linger, Sherry Blossoms, You Make Me Dance, and Mr. Heart is doing a new project: Jun and Jun. No further info.
