Being a fan of new panic! songs doesn't make you a fake fan, it makes you a mainstream fan
Panic! at the disco has a lot of genres
They have rock, pop, punk, edgy, emo, they've got a fuckin country song in pretty. odd.
You can be a fan of newer pop songs like High Hopes and not older punk songs like Hurricane
And that's fine
As long as you don't trash other fans or band members, like whatever you want
You could enjoy listening to I Write Sins Not Tragedies every once in a while
You're a fan
You could know some of their songs and like singing or listening to them
You're a fan
You could memorize every one of their songs and go to every concert that comes to your area and buy three shirts every time
You're a fan
You could join all of brendon's twitch streams and know everything about his personal life in the past and the present
A little obsessive, but you're a fan
You're a fan in all of these scenarios
You don't have to like every single genre that panic! at the disco produces
Stop criticizing other fans for their taste in music
Listen to the genre you like and stop complaining

All the people saying Serena “got what she deserved” by getting her finger cut off for reading have completely missed the point of the entire show. Not a single woman on that show deserves the violence and degradation placed upon them by Gilead, including Serena.
Does she deserve to be punished? Probably. But she deserves to be punished for setting Gilead into motion. She deserves to be punished for what she has done to June. But she wasn’t punished for that. She was punished for reading. For being a powerful woman who stood up to the rules of Gilead. She didn’t deserve that.

It reminds me of the argument people have made about The Handmaid’s Tale when they say the handmaids aren’t *really* being raped because they technically had a choice.
Yes, if I had a choice between being raped once a month or being sent off to die slowly and horribly of starvation and/or radiation sickness, I’d pick the former. Most women would.
Doesn’t mean I’m still not being raped though. Because I wasn’t given any real choice.
