* MAJOR a little life spoilers*
No one prepares you for how much you will grieve this book. You try to cope reading fanfics with alternate endings, or one-shots of happy moments you imagine -you hope- happened. You will reread the first few sections, back when it was just the four of them trying to figure out life in New York. Back to their beautiful friendship, back to the parties and the rooftop, back to Lispenard St and the bacteria cookies. Back to the adoption day and Malcolm being post-black and Willem working at a restaurant. Back to the gallery shows and the subtle, eerie hints that Jude is hiding something.
You skip the bad chapters. You skip Brother Luke and the monastery. You can’t skip JB’s cruel mockery because you enjoy reading that Willem punched him so hard he ended up in the hospital. But you skip Caleb and the axiom, you skip Dr. Traylor and the counselors, you skip Cody Leary because, like Jude, you’re too angry of having no answers for his pain. Why so much pain? You sometimes skip Harold’s memories with Jacob. Not because you don’t care, but because it’s a reminder of how alone he must feel right now.
And that’s the thing. They all felt so real. You picture the streets they walked so precisely. Willem’s affection so vividly it almost warms up the pages beneath your fingers as you flip them over, eager to read the next line when he wraps his arms around Jude. You read over and over The Happy Years. The list, the loud kisses on the cheek, the I’m sorrys, the holiday trips, their morning talks, their fights, their all encompassing, all consuming, deeply rooted love for each other. And then you stop. Because you can’t bring yourself to face the truth.
Because the truth is that Willem died, and so did Malcolm and Sophie, and Jude never got better, and Andy wanted to retire, and Harold is alone and Jude never believed Willem or Ana or Harold or Julia or Malcolm or Andy. He believed Brother Luke and the counselors and Dr. Traylor and Caleb and (unfair, I know) JB.
The book is diminished now. Before it was a beast of almost 800 pages that you didn’t know how to get through. But there are not enough pages of the mundane conversations and daily affections that became so essential for Jude’s survival. There are not enough pages.
Jude deserved more pages.

I'm trying to read through the entire Riordan-verse, but is there a specific order I should read these in? Especially as Percy Jackson and the Chalice Of the Gods came out last month, when do I read that? I know Percy shows up in The Kane Chronicles and in the Magnus Chase Books but how do I read them so I'm not all over the place in the timeline?? Google has like 50 different orders that all say they are chronological to read them so it's not any help.
I am currently reading The Heroes Of Olympus books but if I need to swap to a different book I will.

why are people suddenly making it seem like you’re not a reader if you don’t read a specific amount of books each year?
You’re a reader if you’ve read 3 books last year and you’re a reader if you’ve read 40 books last year.
Reading literature is not supposed to be a chore or a competition, it’s supposed to be enjoyed and loved.
Don’t let anyone tell you that you don’t love literature just because you’re a slow reader or because you simply don’t have time to read as much. It’s completely okay <3

Reader/Author Problems
Does anyone else have books on their TBR, they're several years old now and you go and look at your pile and you read the descriptions and all you can think about is "What the hell kind of person was I when I bought this?" But you're still going to read them at some point (it's all an illusion) because you spent money on them. Is this just a 'me' problem?

Pick my next read for me! Tumblr voted for Fingersmith last time and it was excellent so I’ll stand by this choice too

It's reassuring to see that my TBR pile is still around 50 books over the last 3 years.
My "I will read everything before buying new books" turned into "I will read a book and immediatly replace it on my TBR pile with another one".

“You know, Willem,” Jude had said, “you should obviously sleep with whomever you want. I just”—he fumbled—“I know this is selfish, but I just don’t want to hear about it.”
“It’s not selfish,” he said, reaching across the bed for him. “And I wouldn’t do that, not ever.”

The books I've read this week. I have started a new book already, but i'm gonna have it be part of my next week because it's part of the next series.
By the way, I've had these books for a while (since childhood) and they've survived more than a dozen moves and so many cats. That's why they look so in disrepair. If anyone knows where I can buy a cheap full set let me know!

Have you added Spells of Tarot & Tragedy to your TBR?
An urban fantasy dark romance book with spice that doesn’t overtake the plot about a young woman searching for her place in the world without her family, finding and choosing her own along the way in her friends. Intrigue, mystery, and thrill all come to bring you a book that dives in a secret underground magic world where not everyone can be trusted.
