"Get us back to the ship!!" Dean shouted as he heaved himself the rest of the way up and into the rear of the wagon. Everyone was ducking to avoid the unrelenting volley of projectiles crisscrossing their path. Sam flicked the reins and shouted for the horses to take off.
In the bed of the wagon were two wooden boxes, along with Donna, Jody, and an injured Jack. Dean frantically looked around him to see what he could use as a weapon, when his eyes finally landed on the two treasure chests. He needed something to stop the villagers that had emerged from the cover of the jungle and were now chasing them. His only option to get them to break off the attack was to use the two treasure chests as a distraction.
>>>About 36 hours earlier<<<
The map indicated that the treasure was buried somewhere on the largest of the seven isles that made up the Crystal Islands. Legend was that the island was mostly uninhabited, except for the coastal areas. There were some small but organized settlements with homes dotting the landscape. They were generally agrarian in nature, taking advantage of the fertile soil near the coast.
Dean managed to barter with one of the clan leaders for some much-needed supplies, such as food and tools. In exchange for a share of any treasure found, he was given the use of four horses with full tack. He attached the horses to a wagon that would carry what they needed, along with any valuables unearthed in their quest. Payment was expected upon the return of the wagon and horses, to which Dean agreed.
During their preparation for treasure-hunting, Dean couldn't shake the uneasy feeling he had when his eyes fell on the chief's brother. He picked up on a few subtle hints that not every village member was on board with helping him and his crew. As they followed the map, he shared his thoughts, and everyone agreed to remain alert for any possible threats. There were enough outside forces working against them. They didn't need angry and suspicious villagers added to the list.
Using the landmarks referenced on the map, the group maneuvered through the thick jungle foliage with their gear. It wasn't long before they arrived at the opening to a cave, which was wide but didn't appear to be very deep. Before venturing any further, Dean put Jack in charge of finding a shortcut or alternate route back to the ship. In case of a quick escape, such information would be extremely beneficial.
Once inside, the group followed a narrow walkway around the perimeter of the cave's interior. This pathway led to a deep pool fed by a natural spring, which is where the treasure was found. Under the clear, blue water, several chests brimming with valuables could be seen resting on the sandy floor of the pool. Glimmering objects made of gold, silver, jewels, and other precious metals were just waiting to be brought to the surface.
After a brief celebration at their success, the crew began the work of retrieving the treasure. Through a system of ropes and pulleys, the trunks were hauled up from below and loaded onto the wagon and returned to the ship. As they worked, each crewmember entertained fantasies of what they would do if even a fraction of the treasure were given to them. It was difficult to contain their excitement and wonder at seeing so much wealth in such a small place.
Finally, the last two trunks were loaded onto the wagon, ready to start on the path back to the ship, with Sam on driving duty and Jody in the back of the wagon. Dean led the crew as they exited the cave, first scanning the dense jungle for hidden threats. When he felt safe enough to continue, Dean motioned for Sam to climb up into the driver's seat and wait for his signal. He continued to survey the area as preparations were made to leave.
A whizzing sound passed Dean's ear, and suddenly Jack screamed in pain and clutched his arm. An arrow was embedded in his right bicep, a crimson stain blooming beneath the point of entry. Donna quickly yanked the scarf from around her neck and tied it snugly around the wound on Jack's arm, trying to put pressure on it. Jack winced at the tightness, but knew it was the best way to stop the bleeding.
Donna and Dean helped the injured young man to safety by each grabbing a foot and lifting him up over the back end of the wagon. As soon as Jack's backside hit the wood, Jody tugged him off to the side, out of the line of fire. Dean then assisted Donna with her ascent, trying to cover his head whenever possible. He knew that parts of his body would likely be covered in bruises from being pelted by rocks and other small but dangerous objects. He managed to haul his body halfway into the wagon, then hook his leg over the edge as an anchor.
"Get us back to the ship!!" Dean shouted to Sam as he heaved himself the rest of the way up and into the rear of the wagon.
He tried to think of how he could use them to stop the villagers that had emerged from the cover of the jungle and were now chasing them. His only option to get them to break off the attack was to use the two treasure chests as a distraction.
Dean tried to pull one of the chests towards the edge of their escape vehicle, but with the weight of its contents, it barely budged. Donna and Jody caught on to what he was doing and they shouted for him to join them behind the box to push it over the back of the wagon. Fueled by adrenaline, together they managed to move one of the trunks enough for it to tumble off the edge.
Upon its impact with the ground, the wood smashed into pieces, with glittering treasure spilling onto the jungle floor. The greedy villagers started scooping up whatever they could carry, pushing and shoving each other out of the way. By the time anyone realized there was a second trunk, it had also crashed to the ground and was demolished on impact. The villagers' attack was forgotten, which allowed Dean and his crew to safely return to the ship and leave the island.

Lucifer strolled from his assigned quarters in the governor's mansion to the kitchen for something to eat. Since he arrived two days ago, he'd made multiple attempts to speak with Lord Ashton in private to settle his accounts and receive payment. But each time he tried, the nobleman was on his way to another "important meeting" with the governor or something to do with the wedding.
The captain of The Red Dragon decided that today was the day he would press Lord Ashton for the payment of 50,000 gold coins. If he refused, Lucifer was prepared to settle the matter with his fists or his blade, whichever method first presented itself. He had business elsewhere to attend to and had neither the time nor the patience to wait around for Lord Ashton to hold up his end of the bargain.
At that moment, Lord Ashton emerged from his office, his eyes focused on a set of papers. His second-in-command, Damon Sharpe, was at his side, trying to shepherd him to another meeting. Perfect timing, Lucifer thought. He put himself directly in Lord Ashton's and Damon's path, giving them no choice but to see him and stop in their tracks.
"Ah, Captain Lucifer, I was told you and your crew had left Ochana," Lord Ashton drawled.
"Lord Ashton, I certainly don't know why anyone would've told you that," Lucifer smirked, then leaned close to Ashton's ear. "Especially since I haven't been paid yet," he whispered.
"Ahh, yes," Lord Ashton replied nervously. "Well, about that," he began, but was interrupted by the feel of metal against the skin of his neck. Damon had started to leap to Ashton's defense but was stopped by Ketch's grip on his arm.
"Now, you weren't planning on weaseling out of your end of the deal, were you?" Lucifer asked ominously.
"No, no, nothing like that," Ashton squeaked out as a little more pressure from the blade was brought to bear. "Why don't we, um, step back into my office, where we can discuss our business?"
Lucifer hesitated a moment before he finally removed his dagger from anywhere near Lord Ashton's throat. "All right. Lead the way, while my man Ketch keeps your Mr. Sharpe company," he stated in a tone that left no room for negotiation.
The two men returned to the office, with Lucifer locking the door behind him. Ashton shuffled some of the papers on his desk, trying to look busy while stalling for time. "So, that was 35,000 gold coins, right? I'll grab those out of my--" He had rounded the corner of his desk but was stopped in his tracks by Lucifer's hand on his chest.
"You hired me to locate and safely return your wayward fiancée, and I did exactly that. The deal was for 50,000, not 35,000. I really don't like what you're trying to pull here, Ashton, so let me assure you of something. One more attempt to cheat me out of what's rightfully mine, and you won't live long enough to regret it," Lucifer warned.
Ashton gulped at the mention of further violence, because he knew the ruthless captain was more than capable of carrying out his threat. He held out the bag of coins, but just as Lucifer was about to take it from him, Ashton pulled it back a little. The look in the captain's eyes caused him to step back in fear. "Wait. There's more where this came from, if you're interested," Ashton whispered. "A-A bonus, if you will."
"And what would I have to do in order to obtain this....bonus, as you say?" Lucifer asked.
"For an extra 25,000, all you have to do is keep my fiancée from escaping again. She has been promised to me, and I intend for us to be married. Plus, she made me look like a fool by sneaking out of the mansion and sailing off on some ship," he muttered.
You don't need your fiancée's help to look like a fool, Lucifer silently commented. To Ashton, he shrugged and said, "All right. For 25,000, I agree to your offer to make sure your lovely bride-to-be sticks around long enough to say 'I do'," he replied.
"Excellent!" Ashton quickly declared. "I'll have the staff make sure that the rooms for you and your men are serviced with clean linens and towels. If any of you want anything special, as in foods or whatever, please let me know and I will speak to the governor."
Lucifer could tell that Ashton was anxious to bring an end to this conversation, but there was one crucial point left to be made. On his way out, he stepped closer to Ashton until he was nearly nose-to-nose with him. He could see the fear growing in his opponent's eyes, which gave him immense satisfaction. "But if you try to double-cross me again, your Lordship, I will not hesitate to make good on my earlier threat." He gave Ashton a smug smile, turned on his heel and left the office.

By the time Dean and his crew made their way back to the ship, the treasure had been safely stowed and hidden aboard. As Dean boarded, he looked behind him to see the angry villagers had nearly caught up to them. They had broken out of the dense jungle and were headed for the docks. A few of the warriors had launched their spears and arrows towards the retreating vessel in an attempt to stop her, but she had already sailed out of range. The weapons either landed short in the water or clattered harmlessly on the deck.
Once the ship was well underway and a safe distance from the island, the med kit was pulled out and Jack's wound was dressed. Everyone else escaped with mostly minor injuries, mainly cuts and scratches from being grazed by arrows or bruises from thrown rocks. A change of clothes was also in order for anyone still wet from diving for treasure in the cave.
As Jack was being patched up in the infirmary, Dean paced outside, wondering how he was going to explain this to Kelly. Deep down, he knew it wasn't his fault, but as his captain, Jack was still his responsibility. When Rowena was finished with her healing duties, she poked her head outside and told Dean that her patient wanted to speak with him.
Before Dean could apologize, Jack mentioned that he didn't blame his captain for what happened. He understood that this was a dangerous mission in uncharted territory, but that he agreed to go because of his friendship with Rhaya. Soon the two men were laughing, especially when Dean pointed out that his scar might give him an advantage in the pursuit of young ladies.
The closer they got to their destination in Ochana, the more apprehensive Captain Dean became. The better part of his life had been spent at sea, first on his father's crew, where he worked his way up through the ranks. After Captain John passed away, Dean assumed the captaincy of The Black Diamond and added a couple of new members.
Dean thought about the life Rhaya had growing up, the daughter of a governor. As such, she was practically a member of the nobility, part of the upper class. Someone like that was more accustomed to lavish estates, gourmet meals, the finest fabrics for designer clothing. And what exactly did he have to offer her? A rootless existence, where he was away at sea more often than not, simple meals limited to the supplies onboard, and garments better suited for life aboard a ship.
"I thought I might find you here," a voice from behind him startled him out of his dreary internal monologue.
"What's the matter, Keira, can't sleep?" Dean replied.
She chuckled. "Not really. Trying to come up with a plan to get Rhaya out of her predicament with Lord Ass-hton. Anytime his father had a meeting with the governor, Ashton made sure to tag along so that he could be around Rhaya. He made his intentions toward her quite clear. He believed that he deserved the best. Since he considered her as 'the best', he declared that they would be married one day. Rhaya shut down that line of thinking rather quickly, though. She wasn't interested in marriage to anyone, let alone Lord High-and-Mighty."
"I'm sure that was a blow to his oversized ego," Dean grinned.
"Oh, you know it was, because he stopped tagging along with his father after that. We only saw him briefly at state-sponsored events, such as Ochana's centennial ball and various holiday galas. Then Carissa made that ridiculous announcement that they were engaged. Darcy told me Rhaya was furious and begged her father to undo it all," Keira related.
"But....if it's not Lord Asshat, Rhaya deserves to marry someone who can give her that kind of life. Not someone like me," he muttered.
Keira rolled her eyes at the captain's last comment. "Listen to me. The kind of lifestyle and attitude represented by Lord Jerk-Ass are not who she is, and it's not what's important to her. This whole 'prim and proper, lady-like' agenda is being pushed by no one but Carissa. Lord Darius and Lady Isabella didn't subscribe to that stuff. They encouraged Rhaya to think and stand up for herself, to practice in the art of defense, and know that she is inferior to no one."
"That's all well and good, but it doesn't mean anything when she would be giving up so much just to be with me," he protested.
"Are you saying you're not deserving of her? That you're not worth the effort? Because I think that's Rhaya's decision to make, don't you?" Keira shot back.
Dean dropped his gaze to the deck as Keira's comments were stingingly accurate. "Keira, you know what kind of life we lead. Traveling from port to port, sometimes only staying home long enough to re-supply, then it's back out to sea on another job. And the dangers we face when we're out there, like storms, illness, injury, even attacks from our enemies. She shouldn't have to put up with that in her everyday life," he finished softly.
"Captain, I know my sister. What you just described is exactly the way she would want to live her life if she was allowed to choose. The only reason she hasn't been out on the open water with me on my ship is because of her concern for her father in the clutches of her stepmother. Now, we have a little more than two days before we reach the port of Ochana and we still need to come up with a rescue plan. You still with me on that?"
Dean considered Keira's remarks about what Rhaya wants her life to look like. Back at Harvelle's, he mentioned to Sam how he could see her accompanying him on jobs. How he wouldn't have to leave her on land while he worked, that she could be his partner in every sense of the word. Why was he having second thoughts all of a sudden?
Maybe he didn't yet know what name to give his feelings for her, but that didn't mean they were of any less importance. He was certain about one thing, though. There was no way he was going to let Rhaya marry Lord Ashton Kane. Dean would not allow the light in her eyes to become dim for any reason. "You're right. Let's get the others and see what we can come up with."
***
In the days leading up to the wedding, Rhaya was spending more and more time in her room, away from Carissa and her plans. All of the pomp and circumstance surrounding all aspects of the wedding was giving Rhaya a headache. She made herself available for her dress fittings, going over the menu for the reception, and designing her bouquet. She left everything else up to Carissa, though the one aspect she didn't mind was the cake tasting. The pastry chef had been with the governor since Rhaya was young. After sampling the various options, she knew this detail was in good hands.
Two days before the wedding, Rhaya was sitting on the bench in front of her bedroom window, a book in her hand. However, her mind was not terribly focused on the pages in front of her. The words were swimming within her vision, and she was certain she'd read the same passage about ten times. Her mind was racing with strategies and half-baked escape plans that all involved sneaking out of the mansion again to avoid having to marry Ashton.
A knock at her door broke Rhaya out of her thoughts. She hoped it wasn't another one of the "consultants" coming to ask her about something wedding-related. When she saw it was Darcy, she grabbed the young woman by the hand and swiftly pulled her into the room. Before closing the door, Rhaya checked up and down the hallway. She was relieved to find it deserted, which meant that Darcy had not been followed by Carissa, Ashton, or anyone associated with them.
"Rhaya, what is going on? Are you okay?" Darcy asked.
"No, Darce, I'm not okay. Carissa moved up the wedding date, so I have to get out of here, because there's no way I'm going to marry Ashton. Especially not when my heart belongs to someone else," Rhaya murmured.
Darcy moved to sit beside Rhaya, facing the headboard and gave a deep sigh. "I thought something was different about you since you got back. Is it this Captain Dean, hmm?" she smirked, then gasped as a thought entered her mind. "Are you in love with a pirate captain?"
Rhaya sat up straight as her eyes widened in shock. "What? No, no. No. Wait--maybe," she confessed. "I don't know what to call it, Darcy, but right now, part of me feels like it's missing. This wedding business isn't the only reason I'm miserable. It's also because I haven't seen Dean in two weeks and I'm afraid that maybe he's moved on and forgotten all about me."
A look of sympathy crossed Darcy's mind as she patted Rhaya's hand. "Nonsense, there's no way that man has forgotten about you. I'm sure he has some business to attend to, after which he'll be headed back this way to rescue you from Lord Ashton."
"Maybe," Rhaya reluctantly replied. "Anyway, enough about that, what were you coming to talk to me about?"
Darcy mentioned that she stopped by to check on how her friend was doing with all of the unwanted wedding preparations going on. She listened to Rhaya talk about her gown, the flowers, and the ever-increasing guest list. Darcy's thoughts drifted back to the message she'd received the previous day and wondered how such information would fit into an escape plan.
"And I told Carissa that I wanted to dye my hair blue before the wedding, so I'd have my 'something blue'," Rhaya declared.
"Mmhmm, that sounds like a good idea," Darcy murmured.
"I knew it! You haven't been listening to me!" Rhaya pouted, though her tone softened when she saw the look of concentration on Darcy's face. "Hold on a minute, are you all right? What is it?" she asked worriedly.
This seemed to break Darcy out of her trance, as she shook her head to clear it. Then she flashed Rhaya a tired smile. "Nothing, honey. I promise I'm all right. Hey, can you show me what your dress looks like, or do you want it to be a surprise?"
"No, you can see the monstrosity now if you'd like," Rhaya muttered. "It's hanging over there, on the hook next to my wardrobe. You can even try it on if you want, we're practically the same dress size."
"I think it would bring bad luck if I did that," Darcy replied. She removed the dress from the garment bag and held it aloft to inspect it. The strapless bodice was made of white chiffon, ruched in a crisscross pattern. There was a beaded crystal band that sat at the waist, then it gave way to a full ballgown skirt. "The top part of your dress is certainly beautiful, Rhaya. Only....is the bottom part supposed to look like--?"
"Like someone stitched together a bunch of huge roses made out of white tissue paper? Because that's what it looks like," she supplied wearily as Darcy nodded. After a beat, both women dissolved fully into laughter for a few minutes until Rhaya had a sobering thought. "How could she do that to me, make me wear something so hideous? A girl only gets married once in her life, and wearing that dress is not a memory I want to have of that day."
"I know, sweet pea. I don't know what she was thinking either, but I have a feeling that all will work out for you in the end," Darcy replied. She motioned with her arms and laughed softly as Rhaya got comfortable with her head in Darcy's lap. As she stroked Rhaya's hair, she considered the communication she received from Keira. The message was simple: Mission accomplished, we're on our way.
***
Dean and Keira sailed back to Alcaria to pick up her ship and the rest of her crew, then she would sail The Aurora on to Ochana. The key was to stall or even stop Rhaya's wedding to Ashton long enough for Dean to get his affairs in order. He and his crew would then sail The Black Diamond to Ochana. Once there, he would reunite with the beautiful stowaway who constantly occupied his thoughts and had also captured his heart.
When Dean first took over as captain, he began to set aside a portion of his wages to buy a piece of land in Alcaria. Eventually, his dream was to build a house on the land, complete with horses, chickens, and perhaps some cows. Up until he took on this "treasure quest" on behalf of his father, he had pictured himself alone in this scenario.
Lately though, whenever he pictures his home on this stretch of land, he no longer imagines living in it alone. Now there's a woman, and she's leaning on the porch railing, waiting for him. Long, wavy strawberry-blond hair pulled back in a braid, dark chestnut eyes with thick, fluttering lashes and a soft smile on her face. A smaller figure was running up to the porch, arms outstretched. The newest addition to the vision was almost in focus--
"Dean, are you almost ready to go?" Sam's voice rang out from the other side of the door.
His brother's voice broke through his reverie and Dean took a deep breath. "Yeah, one second, Sam." He checked his appearance in the mirror one last time. Satisfied with the results, Dean left his room to join his brother. He clapped his hand on Sam's shoulder and grinned. "Let's go see that man so I can sign those papers for my little slice of paradise."
***
The night of the wedding rehearsal went smoothly, with everyone playing their respective parts. Of course Lord Darius proudly escorted his daughter down the aisle to her fiancé, who stood waiting with an air of arrogance about him. The governor gently placed Rhaya's hand in Ashton's, then retreated to take his place at Carissa's side.
While the officiant explained what would be happening during the ceremony, Ashton focused on Rhaya, a self-satisfied grin on his face. In less than 24 hours, she would belong to him, along with the sizeable dowry provided by her father. Soon he would get his hands on The Shadow Pirate's treasure map and recovered the precious items. Too bad his new bride will be unable to share in the wealth, he thought smugly to himself.
Rhaya somehow managed to tolerate Ashton long enough to get through the rehearsal ceremony. The toasts at dinner were harmless enough, with a few exceptions from Ashton's friends and business associates. There were comments that strayed into eye-rolling territory, but weren't exactly crude. They referred to Rhaya as the "little woman" and how she would be an "excellent bearer of sons" for him, which grated on her nerves.
Fortunately after dinner, Ashton excused himself to mingle with the guests, leaving Rhaya alone at their table. Her father stayed to chat with her for awhile, until Carissa drew him away, with a reminder of his promise to dance with her. Just before Rhaya was about to return to her room, a familiar face approached her table.
"Good evening, Lady Rhaya. I see congratulations are in order," the man remarked as he took a seat next to her. "I also understand you've recently returned from a voyage at sea."
"A good evening to you as well, Captain Crowley. In answer to your question, yes. I have been returned to my home and my fiancé by Captain Lucifer," she replied. "He was rather insistent that I come back."
"I see. Yes, Captain Lucifer can be a rather persuasive man. Tell me, did you meet any other interesting people on your journey?" he asked.
A bashful smile graced Rhaya's face as she thought of the time she spent with Captain Dean. "Yes, I did. I, um, sneaked out of my room and stowed away aboard The Black Diamond," she confessed.
Crowley pretended to be shocked. "Why, that's Captain Winchester's ship! And he didn't banish you to an uninhabited island or make you walk the plank?" he exclaimed.
"No, no, nothing like that," she laughed. "I explained that I was running from my engagement to Ashton, and we reached a sort of agreement. He allowed me to remain on board his ship, while I earned my keep by serving as a member of his crew. We became friends along the way. At least that's how I think of him," she murmured, her hands twisting nervously in her lap.
Crowley nodded his head in understanding. "Rumor has it that Captain Dean 'acquired' a map for the treasure of The Shadow Pirate," he commented. He cast her a sidelong glance, as he wanted to see her reaction.
Rhaya momentarily dropped her gaze to the floor before meeting Crowley's once again. "Can you keep a secret?" she asked softly. When he nodded, she explained how she took the treasure map from her father's study and brought it with her on Dean's ship. She mentioned their mutual plan to retrieve and split the treasure between them. With it, they could each determine their own destinies and not have to live a life that was planned for them.
"Do you think he found it? The treasure, I mean?" Crowley inquired.
"I haven't heard from him since the night before Lucifer and his men took me and brought me home. I would assume he continued on his quest for fame and fortune," she shrugged. "In any event, I hope he did find it, and that it was what he was looking for," she replied. "I suppose I shall see him soon, even if it is just to complete our 'business transaction'," she added with a sad smile.
At her words, Crowley couldn't help but wonder if finding and sharing a cache of valuables between them would be enough for Rhaya and Dean. That perhaps the real treasure was something they would find in each other to complete their own puzzle. "My lady, Captain Dean is an honorable man. For a pirate, anyway," he muttered. "I'm certain that should he succeed, he will honor your agreement and deliver to you your fair share," Crowley assured her as he stood. "Before I take my leave, may I have the honor of dancing with the bride-to-be?"
Rhaya sent him a genuine smile and rose from her chair. She took his offered hand and gave him a small curtsy before responding, "I would be delighted, Captain Crowley."
For a man who spent a good deal of his time away from land, Crowley was quite skilled at guiding his partner across the floor. When the music ended, he bowed as she returned the gesture with a curtsy. Before he departed, he took Rhaya's hand in his and pressed a chaste kiss to the back of it. "Don't settle for second best, my lady," he murmured as his eyes quickly darted in Ashton's direction. "You deserve to receive nothing less than what your heart desires." With a final bow, he bid Rhaya farewell.

Shortly before midnight, a ship pulled up to the port in Ochana and dropped its anchor. A figure clad all in black maneuvered along the docks in search of a particular ship and its captain. The new visitor to Ochana found success in the man standing next to his ship, a lazy smirk gracing his lips. The two quickly conversed, and with a nod, they each went their separate ways. The captain returned aboard his ship, while the mystery figure headed towards the governor's mansion.
As the minutes ticked by, Rhaya's dread about her wedding day continued to grow. She had been unsuccessful in figuring out how to escape the mansion and her groom-to-be. She was a little perplexed by Darcy's behavior earlier in the evening, but pushed it out of her mind for the moment. Rhaya took a deep breath and closed her eyes, desperately willing sleep to come.
The black-clad figure moved among the shadows to avoid detection by the security force that seemed to have been doubled since she last visited. From memory, she located Rhaya's bedroom window which was fortunately open. She effortlessly climbed the trellis attached to the outside of the mansion, as she had done so many times before. With only a small creak, she opened the window a bit more and eased her way into the room.
Rhaya heard soft footfalls approaching her bed and prayed that it wasn't Ashton in a drunken state and confusing her room for his. She lay absolutely motionless in her bed with her eyes squeezed shut and the blanket up to her chin. Her heart began to race when the intruder padded over and stood next to her bed. Before she could utter a word, a hand clamped over her mouth and her eyes flew open in terror.
"Shhh, relax," the figure cooed. At hearing the stranger's voice, Rhaya began to relax but was not without questions.
"How did you get here? How long are you staying? Never mind that, I'm getting marr--" Rhaya tried to explain but was interrupted.
"Simple, I'm here to rescue you, Sis," Keira replied with a mischievous look in her eyes.

FF questions! Out of all your couples, who do you think is the most compatible and has the best chance at a future together? And what would that future look like?
Oh man, okay. What a great question. Thanks for asking!!!
The most compatible is Kelly and Dean, Sam and Michelle, Kate x Steve...Darcy and her boys...lol
Kelly and Dean's future is a house they share with Michelle and Sam. They have kids. They eventually get married. Dean slows down and they live.
Michelle and Sam's future is a little more turmoil but once they actually get settled, they're in it for good. They get married first ;) They argue sometimes but they have the best communication out of them all lol.
Kate and Steve are great. They do live happily ever after but going into detail will spoil some things lol.
Darcy and her boys are compatible, especially as she gets worse lol. Their future is bloody, sexy and great. Going into more detail is also spoilers. lol
(this is not to say the others aren't happy but these guys have the least amount of stress and fight...aside from Michelle and Sam who take a while lol)

to get you back into a darcy headspace...how about: darcy x sam wilson + Coriander (warm and bright)
The first time Sam brings Darcy tea she squints at him, but says thanks.
The second time, she pauses in her work on her dissertation [The Politics of Powers: Superheroes and Social Reform in the Early 22nd Century]. “I haven’t even gotten to Cap yet, you know,” she says.
“Oh?”
“Yeah. You don’t need to butter me up, I’ll probably say nice things about you.”
“Probably?” he says, rocking back on his heels and placing a hand over his heart. “That’s cold.”
“Mmhm,” she says, eyeing him while she sips at the tea. “That’s academia. No tea is worth compromising my objectivity.”
“What if I told you I don’t want your work on Steve?”
“I’m listening.”
“A little birdy-”
“You’re not getting my commentary on Hawkeye or SHIELD, either.”
Sam grinned and continued, “-a little birdy told me you were thinking about writing up the bug squad and their counter-terrorist reallocation of scientific experiments.”
She gave a one shoulder shrug. “It serves as a nice counterpoint to the early Iron Man activities, what of it - oh. Oh right. I almost forgot - you met Scott first.”
Sam pursed his lips. “In a manner of speaking.”
“And you lost to the Ant.”
“’Lost’ is such a strong -”
“Tell you what. You start bringing me coffee, and I’ll let you look at that chapter before I send it in for final edits. I won’t change anything, but you’ll have forewarning.”

In a world where soulmates can communicate telepathically with their partners, Steve Rogers has always had Bucky Barnes with him, a calming voice in a sea of turmoil. And, when Bucky falls off the train during World War II, Steve experiences deafening silence for the first time.
Now, after crashing a plane in the Arctic to save the world and being frozen for 70 years, Steve’s still trying to figure out how to live without Bucky there. His new friends are trying to help him adjust, to move on. And he thought he was doing better, he really did.
So, why is he suddenly hearing Bucky’s voice again?

Steve Rogers is a famous movie star, known for his role as Captain America. Bucky Barnes is a bored law student who drinks too much wine. Bucky gets on match.com to boost his confidence. What he doesn't expect is a guy using Steve Rogers' pictures on a dating profile. Bucky decides to mess with the guy. After all, what idiot uses Steve Rogers' pictures on a dating site?

“Nat wanted me to-” Nat clears her throat and he rolls his eyes. “I wanted to tell you something.” He looks at Steve with a look he hopes says ‘play along’. “Okay. perfectly right wrong number | melonbutterfly (AO3)
cap steve x modern bucky
It all starts because Steve is too dumb to handle his smartphone.
A wrong number AU in which Bucky Barnes doesn't enter Steve's life (meaning: Bucky wasn't born until the eighties, but Steve is still Captain America) until Steve accidentally dials the wrong number. Wherein there is a lot of texting, some advice via Natasha and Darcy, a bit of pining, and a first date in an amusement park. Oh, and on top of being a disabled veteran, Bucky is a professional catwalker. Literally.

steve x bucky (modern au)
Steve tucks his phone back into his pocket and turns back to the computer. He only has to click a few times before he finds the link to the questionnaire and opens it, inputting the participant number before hitting next. The beginnings of the consent form fills the page, and all Steve has left to do now is wait for the participant— one James Barnes, according to the website— to show up.
Thankfully, Steve doesn’t end up having to wait very long. James Barnes shows up ten minutes early and knocks on the door before cracking it open and peeking in.
“Oh, hi,” he says, when he spots Steve sitting at the desk. He pushes the door open all the way and steps into the room just as Steve spins in the chair to face him.
“Um, I’m, uh, a bit early, but I’m here for the decision making study,” James continues, clear blue eyes flickering around the room before landing on Steve again. The skin between his eyebrows crinkles up a little, and god, Steve probably shouldn’t find his uncertainty as cute as he does. “Am I in the right place?”

"You are never going to believe what just happened," Bucky bemoans, shaking his head. He's at Steve's side in a moment and doesn't bother to give any warning before he dramatically falls into Steve's lap. Steve just barely manages to save his book from getting squashed.
"What is it?" Steve asks, matching Bucky's dramatic tone. "What am I not going to believe?"
"I just got off the phone with Natasha," he starts. "She cancelled on me!" Bucky throws his arms up, nearly smacking Steve in the face in the process.
Steve carefully places his hand on Bucky's forearm and lowers it away from his face.
"You're kidding," he says, a frown curving onto his lips at the news.
"I wish I was," he sighs. Bucky presses his lips together into a disappointed line and deflates against the back of the couch, slinking down Steve's thighs a little. "Who goes to Coney Island alone? How pathetic is that?"
Steve snorts, earning a glare from Bucky, and pats Bucky's thigh. "Aw, don't be such a sourpuss, Buck," he says. "Who said anything about going alone?"

There are three well-known facts at Shield High:
1. The history teacher Mr. Barnes is a stone-cold terror, and it’s not even because he only has one arm. 2. The other history teacher, Mr. Rogers, is a mysterious enigma, and it’s something to do with the body of a Greek God and contradicting stories of his past. (They’re all rumours, anyway.) 3. Mr Barnes and Mr Rogers hate each other.

According to the article, Steve’s dream girl should be intelligent, altruistic, well-versed in current events and have a wicked sense of humor. Oh, and he had a thing for high heels and red lipstick. Bucky’s stomach churned as he re-read the article. Was that really what Steve wanted? Make-up and stilettos?"

Listen, Steve is at least marginally aware of modern pop culture. He’s heard of nudes — not that nudes are exactly a modern invention; artists have been creating them for millennia — and he does know that people tend to misspell words to be cute or funny. They did that when he was young, too. Because time is a flat circle, apparently.
But, wait—does that mean…?
No. Not possible. Bucky isn’t asking Steve to send him…nudes.

It’s 2014. Captain America has been out of the ice for three years and is trudging along, saving the world and trying to get used to living in the future. Steve thinks he knows how the rest of his life is going to pan out – a life of duty, which he chose when he signed up to be Erskine’s science experiment. But then, he meets Bucky Barnes: the out-of-this-world-gorgeous mechanic and war vet, who turns Steve’s life upside down and makes him question everything he thought he knew. Slowly, Steve comes to realize there is more to life than duty and punching Nazis. Just one problem though: how on earth does a 96-year-old virgin who only just realized he may not be entirely straight make the transition from crush to relationship? Cue healthy amounts of self-doubt, awkward flirting, pretty blushing, existential crises, emotional growth, and maybe, possibly, a sexual awakening.

“Listen, I was just thinking,” Steve says, his face open, eyebrows raised in a tentatively hopeful expression. “Why don’t you come stay at my place for a while? I’ve got an office that I barely use, and a change of scenery might do you good, right? Help you beat that writer’s block?” With a crooked smile, he adds, “I promise I’m not a serial killer.”
While Bucky would normally crack a joke about how that’s exactly what a serial killer would say, right now, all he can do is blink at Steve in surprise, heart tripping over itself in his chest. Steve wants him to come and stay at his place. In Massachusetts. Just the two of them.
"Oh," Bucky croaks. "I- Wow."
“I mean, no pressure,” Steve says hastily. “Totally fine if you don’t wanna. I just thought I’d offer, in case it might help, y’know?”
“Yeah.” Bucky ignores the little voice in his head that sounds an awful lot Nat and Becca, telling him he’s setting himself up for heartbreak. “I mean, if you’re sure, that would be amazing.”

supernatural x mcu crossover
i saw a twitter thread about which supernatural & mcu characters would be friends, so here’s my take:
dean- bucky, steve, nat, clint, carol
Tumblr media
dean would have a massive crush on all these people and experience bi panic whenever he interacts with them.
and he’d probs relate to bucky since they both have trauma from being forced to kill & torture people against their will.
dean’s relationship with carol would kinda be like his relationship with claire, minus the father/daughter dynamic. and he’d admire nat a lot but also be super intimidated by her. obvs him & clint would go drinking together and be a menace to society.
sam- bruce, thor, darcy, rhodes, sam
Tumblr media
sam, bruce, and darcy would bond over nerdy ass shit. and he’d probs have a severe crush on darcy but be extremely awkward around her bc she’s a literal genius. i also feel like he’d have intellectual conversations with rhodes and sam about politics, and discuss stuff that actually matters. we love our human rights activists <3
also you KNOW that holding mjölnir in “What’s Up, Tiger Mommy?” (seriously, writers?) was the highlight of samuel winchester’s entire hunting career, despite having saved the world multiple times. he’d probs secretly have a major fanboy moment when he meets thor.
cas- mantis, vision, mobius, ajak, valkyrie
Tumblr media
cas and mantis’ interactions would consist of no words, no thoughts, just bonding telepathically by putting a finger on each other’s foreheads. he would also relate to vision & mobius, bc all 3 are extraterrestrial beings who have existed outside of time and fell madly in love with humanity (aka dean, loki, and wanda) they would all cry together bc their chaotic lovers are literally the most amazing people on the planet.
he would also relate to ajak bc just like himself, she was a warrior who later rebelled against her creator bc she learned that humans are beautiful beings, and they both have the power to heal!
also him & valkyrie would kick homophobic asses together.
jack- groot, shuri, ned, peter, kate
Tumblr media
imagine all of these teenagers going on a space adventure together in one of shuri’s spaceships. like guardians of the universe but make it gen z. i think jack & groot would be besties, shuri would constantly try to figure out the science behind jack’s powers, & peter would try to show jack nerdy pop culture stuff. also jack would kinda have a small crush on kate but ultimately he just admires her from afar and thinks she’s a badass.
also imagine wholesome moments between jack & ned like pls why can’t this be real
bobby- fury, alexei, phastos, rocket, happy
Tumblr media
imagine phastos, rocket and bobby all talking about engineering and shop. i think they would all build awesome stuff together and try to invent cool things! and fury would remind bobby of rufus bc of his sense of humor. he’d also get along with happy even tho he’d kinda think tony stark is too arrogant, but he’d eventually change his mind after he gets to know happy.
and idk why i think alexei would remind bobby of john winchester. oh wait, it’s bc they’re both questionable fathers who trained their children to become killing machines…
rowena- wanda, dr. strange, agatha, sylvie
Tumblr media
okay, witches assemble. i wouldn’t want to mess with this group of people, i’d rather eat a laptop before crossing them. like uff imagine wanda, agatha, and rowena forming a coven! that’s too much power in one trio. and rowena + dr. strange would make a cute couple imo since they both have questionable morals sometimes. also bc sylvie is also a magical being, i see them teaming up to cause some mischief.
jody & donna- pepper, aunt may, maria hill, hope
Tumblr media
ofcccc the wayward sisters would be besties with all of the women in marvel bc hello, they’re all girl bosses, every single one. but something about them getting along with the moms or mother figures like aunt may, pepper, & hope too bc scott has a daughter.
also bc jody and donna are cops they’d be so impressed by maria hill being a commander in shield, like wow such powerful queens.
crowley- tony, druig, drax
Tumblr media
these 4 give such dom!masc energy, it’s insane. all i can think of is “it’s about DRIVE, it’s about POWER! we stay hungry, we devour!”
but in all seriousness, tony & crowley would compete to see who can respond with the most sarcastic and witty remarks at all times. and technically druig also possesses people’s minds in the same way that demons do so put these 2 in the same room so we can see who’s mentally stronger. also drax would teach crowley fun ways to torture people (or vice versa).
lucifer- loki, kang, deadpool
Tumblr media
the amount of chaos that i envision this group of men causing is just criminal. combine loki & lucifer’s daddy issues and you just have 2 narcissists doing fatherless behavior. kang would look at these men and say “could i interest you in letting y’all rip the fabric of our reality and disturb every universal timeline?” deadpool would go along for the ride just so he can witness the scandal and bc he’s the only person who doesn’t complain every time lucifer decides to kill him.

Strawberries & Cream
A/N: Hi! So I’m finally back with the follow up to my first fic.😄I had such wholesome hopes for this but I seemed to have unintentionally taken a sharp turn into Smutville🙈 Kudos to anyone who writes this on a regular because the whole process was like pulling teeth🙃 My real-life friends who proofread for me will forever be scarred and they won’t let me live it down lol😅. I’m hoping my Tumblr peeps are more forgiving. I don’t think it’s *that* bad but we’ll see. So I hope you enjoy! Apologies in advance if you need to bleach your eyeballs after! 🤣🤦🏾‍♀️Feedback is welcome as always.💜
Read Part 1 here: Sweet Surprise
Title: Strawberries & Cream (Part 2)
Pairing: Darcy Lewis x Steve Rogers
Summary: Steve and Darcy’s date doesn’t entirely go as planned.
Rating: Explicit. NSFW under the cut 🔞
Warnings: Smut. Absolute filth🙈. PWF. Fingering. Squirting. Cursing. Attempt at humour. Very little plot lol (It’s supposedly super intense y’all⚠️)

Steve should have known that things were going a little too well.
He arrived at Darcy’s SoHo kitchen promptly at 6 pm and was immediately put to work on the frostings for the blueberry-lemonade and blood orange cupcakes. He was the perfect gentleman while they worked, only flexing his biceps when he caught her staring. Needless to say, he had no problem how frequently that happened.
With the SUV Steve borrowed from Tony’s collection at the Tower, they dropped off the cupcakes a few blocks away and headed back to Brooklyn for dinner. Cheeseburgers and strawberry milkshakes with knees brushing under the table at the diner near the docks, turned into strolling on the pier holding hands and heated kisses at the lookout over the water. Until Darcy announced with a naughty glint in her eye that she was ready for dessert.
She sighed happily as she smoothed her hands over his sculpted chest. She pinched one of his pink nipples and he jumped. “God bless America. I’ve been thinking about motorboating these all day.”
She sighed happily as she smoothed her hands over his sculpted chest. She pinched one of his pink nipples and he jumped. “God bless America. I’ve been thinking about motorboating these all day.”
Steve promptly choked. He couldn’t have heard her right. “D-Darcy, I-”
“No need to get your super-soldier briefs in a bunch,” she assured Steve huskily. He was left spluttering as her fingers followed the happy trail of dark blonde hair down his rock hard abs. She got up to take off her charcoal cardigan and burgundy cami and wriggled out of her black leggings. “You’ll get a turn too.”
At the sight of Darcy in a skimpy thong and just short of spilling out of a sexy lace bra, Steve’s brain short-circuited. Darcy knew the black number with appliqué details did nothing to support her fantastic tits and she was a little conscious of her soft tummy. But the hungry look in Steve’s eyes did everything for her ego.
“Beautiful,” he whispered as he pulled her back to him.
She straddled his thighs and rolled her hips against his. Her grin widened at the feel of his covered length pressed incessantly under her bare cheek. “Is that a spatula in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”
Steve stifled a chuckle as he silenced her with a kiss. He was starting to think she was trying to kill him. If he had the heart of a regular centenarian, his pacemaker would be on the fritz. But what a way to go!
The sudden upbeat ringing of Steve’s cellphone echoed through the apartment, over their panting and kissing. Steve fastidiously ignored it in favour of sucking on the soft spot behind Darcy’s right ear, which left her mewling. It was quickly becoming his new favourite sound.
Neither of them paid any mind to the ringing of Darcy’s phone a few seconds after his stopped. The screaming roar of Black Sabbath seemed a distant hum as Steve ground his crotch against the rapidly dampening spot on Darcy’s panties, much to her delight.
But at the unmistakable tone of his communicator vibrating off the table, Steve groaned, burying his face in Darcy’s neck. “Fuck.”
“We’re getting there, soldier.” She quipped, giggling when he retaliated with a nibble on her ear lobe. He sighed as the beeping stopped but he knew it wouldn’t be the end of it.
“Steve?” Darcy pulled back to catch her breath and get a better look at his face in the little moonlight illuminating the dark apartment. She took no small amount of pride in how botched he looked. She could barely see the ocean-blue ring around his dilated pupils. The rosy flush from his cheeks extended to his muscled chest.
She ran her fingers through his dishevelled dark blonde hair, fingernails scratching his scalp in an attempt to soothe the tension coursing through his body. “It’s a mission, isn’t it?”
Steve closed his eyes and nodded. “Yeah. I’m sorry, Darce.”
“It’s okay. Really!” She added when he shot her a disbelieving look. Still stroking his hair, Darcy gave him a sad smile.
“It was going to happen eventually, Steve,” she admitted. “Look, I may not be involved right now but I’m not a regular civilian. I know what reality is like for you and I can accept it.” She kissed him chastely. “Now, the sooner you go out there and be Captain America, the sooner you can come back here and be Steve Rogers with me.”
His heart squeezed at her words. He pulled her close to him again and kissed her forehead. “Thank you, doll.”
They traded a few more kisses before his cellphone started up again. This time he answered on the first ring. “Rogers.”
“Sorry to ruin your date night, old man,” Tony began, “but we have a situation. Your balls will have to stay blue a little longer-“
“Tony,” Steve warned as Darcy snorted.
“-Or you could make it a quickie.” Tony ploughed on, Sam and Bucky cackling in the background. “Either way, we’re coming to get you. ETA 15 minutes.”
Steve let his head drop against Darcy’s collarbone in defeat as he hung up the phone. He really needed new friends.
“Rain check?” Darcy suggested. The undertones of disappointment in her voice strengthened Steve’s resolve to make it up to her. Captain America- and more importantly Steve- did not break his promises.
In an effortless show of strength, he manhandled her to lie horizontally across his lap. Her squeal at the sudden movement turned into a moan, as he parted her legs and rubbed her nub through the damp thong.
“Steve!” Darcy gasped, eyes flickering between his and watching his fingers work as she clung to him. “We don’t have the time! They’ll be here in 15!”
”I’ve always got a plan, Darce,” he assured. “This is Plan B. And I’ll only need 10.”
Steve groaned as he peeled off her panties to find her dripping. He ran his fingers from the neatly trimmed triangle of hair above her pussy to her glistening lips. “Sweetheart. You’re soaked.”
Blushing, Darcy bit her lip. “I’m a gusher.”
“A wha…?”
Steve blamed it on the lack of blood flow to his brain but it took him a few moments to understand exactly what she meant. His eyes darkened and she shivered. “Oh.”
With his right hand, he gently rubbed wide circles around her little pearl, spreading the moisture. Darcy writhed with pleasure as she held her knees apart to give him better access. Both moaned when he sunk two fingers into her tight, hot hole, sliding in easily up to his knuckles. She jolted as he pinched her nipple with his other hand.
“So sensitive, Darce,” He whispered against her temple as he began thrusting his fingers in earnest. “Let me hear you.”
Darcy can’t help but chuckle in disbelief. He was so smooth with his filthy mouth. Steve may have seemed like a sweet innocent lamb on the outside but here in the dark, he was definitely a wolf ready to devour her.
In no time at all, she was trembling on his fingers with a gasp, arousal spilling down her creamy thighs and onto his jeans. Feeling the build-up of pressure as she squeezed him, he pulled out his fingers and was rewarded with a powerful gush.
“That’s it,” he praised. He returned to steadily rubbing her clit even as she tried to squirm away from his touch. The friction of her ass wriggling against his cock was delicious but he needed to focus on her for a little while longer. He sucked a mark on the side of her neck, toying with her nipple again. “Give me one more, sweetheart. One more. Cum for me.”
This time Darcy screamed as the orgasm ripped through her, squirting onto the couch below them. Her wails had him cumming with a grunt in his jeans not too long after. He kissed her deeply, holding her close.
Reduced to a boneless puddle of pleasure, Darcy purred contentedly as Steve scooped her up and took her to his bedroom, where he laid her on the bed. With a warm washcloth, he cleaned her up before jumping into the shower to quickly rinse himself. He was suited up, cowl in hand, with a minute and a half to spare.
He knelt down to brush the curls away from her face. “I want nothing more than to climb in and cuddle with you, Darce but I’ll be back as soon as I can.”
She yawned when he kissed her forehead, halfway to dreamland and melting into his sheets. “We’re gonna have to work on Plan A when you get back,” she mumbled.
“Yes ma'am,” Steve hummed in agreement. She was definitely going to kill him.

Blocks
Summary: Still Hurts Alternative; Reader POV
Words: ~1.1k
Pairing: past Bucky x Reader, Sam x Reader (Modern AU)
Warnings: language
Inspired by: Eleven Blocks - Wrabel
Repost from caps-best-girl
Tumblr media
It’s been over two years since you broke up with Bucky.
You both wanted different things, you had said when he asked why, and you did. You wanted to enjoy your youth while you still had it. You didn’t want any regrets when you were sixty and looking back on the things you did while you were still young. At first, you were okay. You thought that leaving him was for the best. You went out with your friends every weekend, you stumbled home after midnight more often than not, and you were having fun. But eventually the appeal of going out every weekend faded and all you wanted to do was curl up on the couch next to Bucky and watch whatever movie was on TV that night.
You had to stop yourself from walking out your front door late at night on more than one occasion, your destination his house. It was only nine blocks. It would have taken you less than twenty minutes to walk to his house from yours.
It got worse as the days wore on. You would sit in the small coffee shop on the corner that you and he used to frequent, and your eyes would always drift to the secluded table in the corner of the room where you used to sit with him, talking over coffee and sharing shy smiles. Your mind would replay all of the memories that you had made at the table; the first time he told you he loved you, the time you broke down crying because your best friend was moving across the country, the time he spilled coffee on his lap while reaching across the table to kiss you.
You normally left before you had even finished your coffee.
It was getting worse and worse, missing him. You would catch yourself saying Bucky’s name when you should have been saying Sam’s. You would turn on old documentaries while you read your books, thinking Bucky would come down the stairs and sit beside you, hand resting on your thigh while you sat in companionable silence. You would absentmindedly walk towards Bucky’s house on your way home from work on Thursdays because Thursday used to be the day he always made dinner for you.
Before you knew it, it was Friday again.
You were going out. That was why you had broken up in the first place, wasn’t it? Bucky never wanted to go out, but now you had Sam. He was exactly what you thought you needed. You met him at Darcy’s birthday party, and you were happy for a while. Where he was vodka sodas and loud music, Bucky was cold coffee and quiet nights in, and for the first time, you were ready to admit that you were wrong. You never should have left Bucky.
The thought tumbled in your mind, nagging at you to no end until you just couldn’t take it anymore. You took one shot, and then another, and another after that. Eventually, the alcohol drowned out your thoughts, but the feelings were still there. You needed to see him. It wasn’t a long walk to his place from where you were at. There were only eleven blocks separating you. It would take you thirty minutes at most to get there.
“Y/N, where you going?” Sam asked when you pulled yourself out of his arms.
“I need some air,” you lied easily. “I’ll be right back.”
He didn’t ask you anymore questions. That was another difference between him and Bucky. You used to think that Bucky asking all of his questions was annoying, but you knew now that he was only showing he cared. Sam didn’t care as much as Bucky did. And that’s not to say that he didn’t care, because he did. You knew that. Sam just let you do what you wanted regardless of the consequences because it was easier than trying to change your mind..
You made it three blocks before you turned around. What were you doing? What exactly did you think was going to happen when you just showed up on his doorstep? You knew he’d be home. He was never the type to go out on the weekends. Maybe he’d have Steve over. Maybe he’d have a girl over. God, you hoped he didn’t have a girl there. You were Bucky’s girl. Fuck. You turned back around, heading for Bucky’s house.
You made it nine blocks when you got a barrage of texts from Sam.
I’m heading home. Where are you?
Darcy said you left. Where’d you go?
Seriously, Y/N. This isn’t funny.
Call me.
I left the door unlocked for you.
You sat down on the curb. You loved Sam, didn’t you? Hell, you didn’t even know anymore. The only thing you did know was that you still loved Bucky. You probably had never stopped, but you hated admitting that you were wrong, and the fact that you still loved Bucky two years after you broke up with him was the biggest indication that you had been wrong.
You ran your hands through your hair and remembered the time that Bucky promised you’d always be his girl. You glanced down the street, taking in the familiarity of your surroundings. If you squinted, you could see the streetlight outside of his house where you had kissed for the first time. You stood up and kept walking.
You made it eleven blocks when you stood outside of his house, looking at the bluish glow from the TV coming through his window. You took a deep breath before climbing the stairs to his door. One, two, three, four. You knocked.
Panic set in then. What the hell were you doing here? Sam was waiting for you at home, expecting you to walk through the door at any second, and you were standing on your ex’s doorstep, ready to drunkenly pour your heart out to him, to tell him that you still loved him and that you had made a mistake breaking up with him.
You didn’t want different things. You wanted cold coffee and quiet nights in. You wanted Bucky and you never wanted to let him go again.
The door swung open and for the first time in two years you came face to face with Bucky. He had grown out his hair and it looked like he hadn’t shaved in a few days. You opened your mouth to say something but nothing came out, and there you stood, on Bucky’s doorstep, unable to even speak.
“Y/N? What are you doing here?”

Do you have any book recs like yours and w. epic love scenes like yours?
I appreciate anything I’ve written being called epic in any way :)
I don’t really know if I could accurately compare any books I’ve read to my own but I do have some book recs that I adore! I’ll give you my top ten lesfics for some variety
- Behind the Green Curtain by Riley LaShea (my ultimate fave romance)
When Caton’s sleazy boss offers her a position as his wife’s personal assistant, she accepts the job with reservations, certain Jack Halston has ulterior motives. After meeting Jack’s wife Amelia, though, it’s Caton’s motivations that begin to unravel. As vicious as she is beautiful, Amelia threatens Caton’s position and her sense of decorum. As the attraction between the two women spirals into a torrid affair, Caton is drawn deeper into Jack and Amelia’s world of privilege and prestige, where everything is at stake and nothing is what it seems.
- All That Matters by Susan X  Meagher
Life is going damned well for Blair Spencer. She's a very successful real estate agent, happily married to a man who encourages her to live the independent life she loves; and they're actively working to have a baby. The wrench in the works is that Blair favors adoption, while her husband David desperately wants to have a biological child. The fates are against them, and they finally seek the help of a group of reproductive specialists. One of the doctors, a surgeon named Kylie Mackenzie, eventually becomes a good friend to Blair. And she needs all of the friends she can get when things start to go horribly wrong at home. As her marriage teeters on the brink of collapse, she relies more and more on Kylie's friendship. Kylie's happily gay; Blair's happily straight. But the way they structure their relationship leads friends and family to privately question whether the pair is setting themselves up for heartache. They eventually come to a crossroads, which could either destroy their friendship or turn it into what each of them has been seeking. The question is whether each woman can change her view of herself and her needs. The answer is all that matters.
- Alone by EJ Noyes
Half a million dollars will be Celeste Thorne’s reward for spending four years of her life in total isolation. No faces. No voices. No way to leave.
Since Celeste has never really worried about being alone, the generous paycheck she’ll receive for her participation in the solitary psychological experiment seems like easy money.
When she finds an injured hiker in the woods bordering her living compound, her strictly governed world is thrown into disarray. But even as she struggles with the morality of breaking the rules of the experiment, Celeste can’t deny her growing attraction to the kind and enigmatic Olivia Soldano. Still, how much can you really trust a stranger? And how much can you trust yourself when you know all the faces you’ve seen and voices you’ve heard for the past three years have only been your imagination?
But what’s real? Celeste’s reality may lie somewhere between the absolute truth and a carefully constructed deception. (the concept of this is just INcredible. and the execution as well - perfect)
- The Goodmans by Clare Ashton
The lovely doctor Abby Hart lives in her dream cottage in the quintessential English border town of Ludbury, home to the Goodmans. Maggie Goodman, all fire and passion, is like another mother to her, amiable Richard a rock and 60s-child Celia is the grandmother she never had. But Abby has a secret. Best friend Jude Goodman is the love of her life, and very, very straight. Even if Jude had ever given a woman a second glance, there’d also be the small problem of Maggie – she would definitely not approve. But secrets have a habit of sneaking out, and Abby’s not the only one with something to hide. Life is just about to get very interesting for the Goodmans. Things are not what they used to be, but could they be even better? (there are not one but TWO perfectly written romances intertwined in this *chef kiss*)
- Pretending in Paradise by M Ullrich
When travelwisdom.com assigns PR specialist Caroline Beckett and travel blogger Emma Morgan to cover a hot new couples retreat, they're forced to fake a relationship to secure a reservation. Ten days in paradise would be a dream assignment, if only they'd stop arguing long enough to enjoy it. Reputations are Caroline's business. Too bad she was forced out of her previous job when an ex smeared hers all over the office grapevine. She's never getting involved with a coworker again, especially not one as careless and unprofessional as Emma. Emma knows that life is too short to play by the rules. But when she goes too far and a defamation lawsuit puts her job in jeopardy, she has to make nice with Caroline, the image police, and deliver the best story of her career.
Only pretending to be in love sure feels a whole lot like falling in love. When their story goes public, ambition and privacy collide, and their chance at making a fake relationship real might just be collateral damage. (there’s just SOMETHING about this that is super freaking cute)
- The Brutal Truth by Lee Winter
Australian crime reporter Maddie Grey is out of her depth in New York, miserable, and secretly drawn to her powerful, twice-married, media mogul boss, Elena Bartell, who eats failing newspapers for breakfast. As work takes them to Australia, Maddie is goaded into a brief, seemingly harmless bet with her enigmatic boss—where they have to tell the complete truth to each other. It backfires catastrophically.
A lesbian romance about the lies we tell ourselves.
- The Red Files by Lee Winter (kudos to her for being the only author that makes it to this list with two separate books)
Ambitious Daily Sentinel journalist Lauren King is chafing on LA’s vapid social circuit, reporting on glamorous A-list parties while sparring with her rival—the formidable, icy Catherine Ayers. Ayers is an ex-Washington political correspondent who suffered a humiliating fall from grace, and her acerbic, vicious tongue keeps everyone at bay. Everyone, that is, except knockabout Iowa girl King, who is undaunted, unimpressed and gives as good as she gets. One night a curious story unfolds before their eyes: One business launch, 34 prostitutes and a pallet of missing pink champagne. Can the warring pair work together to unravel an incredible story? This is a lesbian fiction with more than a few mysterious twists. (as someone who is usually pretty bored by any plot other than the romance, I actually enjoyed this mystery)
- Tricky Wisdom/Tricky Chances by Camryn Eyde
(for tricky wisdom)  Darcy Wright is a closeted lesbian who has been infatuated with her best friend, Taylor, since junior high. Leaving her small northeast Minnesota town for Harvard in a quest to become a doctor, she moves in with med-student Olivia Boyd, a neurotic, anal, gigantic pain in the backside. The first year of juggling medical school is grueling, but it’s nothing compared to living with Olivia.
Coming out to her friends and family with an anti-climactic flop, Darcy uses her newly publicized sexuality to try and win Taylor’s affections through an ill-hatched scheme that crosses uncomfortable lines. The result is as unexpected to Darcy as Darcy’s affinity for medicine is to Olivia.
The first year of medical school is a nerve-wracking encounter in medicine, learning lessons the hard way, and finding what her heart desires.
Tricky Chances is the sequel to Wisdom, but it’s the only lesfic sequel that i truly felt added to the first one and was just as gripping! Plus, the first book is only 48k words so the followup is perfect to come right after
- Who’d Have Thought by G Benson
Top neurosurgeon Samantha Thomson needs to get married fast and is tightlipped as to why. And with over $200,000 on offer to tie the knot, no questions asked, cash-strapped ER nurse Hayden Pérez isn’t about to demand answers.
The deal is only for a year of marriage, but Hayden’s going into it knowing it will be a nightmare. Sam is complicated, rude, kind of cold, and someone Hayden barely tolerates at work, let alone wants to marry. The hardest part is that Hayden has to convince everyone around them that they’re madly in love and that racing down the aisle together is all they’ve ever wanted. What could possibly go wrong? (this book comes in 9th because i don’t love it QUITE as much as i do all the others, but it was the one that got me into lesfic so! it’s good stuff)
And in a guest pick from the only other voracious lesfic reader i know, @debbie-eagan -
Beautiful Dreamer by Melissa Brayden -
Philadelphia real estate broker Devyn Winters is at the peak of her career, closing multimillion-dollar deals and relishing it. She’s pretty much blocked out her formative years in Dreamer’s Bay, where the most exciting thing to happen was the twice a year bake sale. Unfortunately, a distress call hauls her back home and away from the life she’s constructed. Now the question is just how long until she can leave again? And when did boring Elizabeth Draper get so beautiful?
Elizabeth Draper loves people, free time, and a good cup of coffee in the warm sunlight. In the quaint town of Dreamer’s Bay, she’s the only employee of On the Spot, an odd jobs company. She remembers Devyn Winters as shallow in high school, but now everything about Devyn makes her lose focus. Though her brain knows Devyn is only home temporarily, her heart didn’t seem to get the memo (I’m personally not a huge Brayden fan but a lot of other lesfic readers are so I reached out for a second opinion on this matter)
I hope you enjoy!

At a gala one night, her stepmother, Carissa, announces Rhaya’s engagement to Ashton Kane, a wealthy nobleman. Only problem is, no one checked with Rhaya first. After overhearing plans made by her fiancé, Rhaya decides to go on the run and stows away on Captain Dean’s ship. What will happen when he finds her?

Tune in to find out....Enjoy!

Rhaya listened as Keira reviewed the events of the past few days. She explained how they arrived at the island, found the treasure, and their narrow escape from the island's inhabitants. When Keira mentioned that some of the crew were injured, she was quick to assure Rhaya that nothing was life-threatening. Jack would make a full recovery, she promised. Both women laughed at Dean's assertions that the young man would now have better luck with the ladies.
"Speaking of Dean, will he....is he....um....he's on his way here, right?" Rhaya asked in a small voice.
Keira thought back to her last conversation with Dean, right before she set sail for Ochana. She knew he was committed to the plan to at least stall, if not stop, the wedding. However, he mentioned some business he had to attend to before he could leave Alcaria. He had sent her ahead to carry out the plan, in case he couldn't get to Ochana in time.
"Honey, I'm not sure. He said he had some things to do once he got home to Alcaria. But he sent me here first to make sure to stop or somehow stall your wedding to Lord Dumbass," Keira muttered.
"Well, I am all for that, you know. But how are we going to do it? I mean, you've got a plan all worked out, right?" Rhaya wondered.
Keira snorted. "Are you seriously doubting my scheming ability right now? I think you've forgotten who you're dealing with," she responded with a slight scowl. "Here's what I've got so far."
***
Dean stood at the bow of the ship, willing it to find the right winds to carry it faster from Alcaria to Ochana. The plan he had outlined with Keira was only designed to get things to a certain point, which was to prevent Rhaya's marriage to Ashton. After that, the details were a little fuzzy, but Dean figured that the pieces would somehow magically fall into place.
Sam cautiously approached his brother, who continued to stare out at the horizon, wishing they had already reached their destination. "Dean, we're going as fast as we can. Keira knows what she's doing, and she has allies on the inside to help her and Rhaya. No one wants to see her marry Lord Hoity-Toity," Sam grumbled.
"I know, Sam," Dean sighed. "It's just....I want to be there to protect her, you know? It's not only Lord Stuck-Up that I'm worried about, it's also her horrible stepmother. Rhaya told me about her, and it wasn't a rosy picture. Carissa has ways of dealing with people who don't bend to her will, and for that reason, I don't want my girl anywhere near her. There's no telling what that witch will do to Rhaya when this wedding goes south," Dean noted grimly.
Seeing his brother so determined to defend his girl against her stepmother ignited a glimmer of hope in Sam that maybe Dean had found his someone. "Then it's a good thing I see the coastline of Ochana," he grinned. He pointed to a stretch of land in the distance, a sandy beach giving way to a hill of green grass. Wooden docks extended out into the water, with tall, well-muscled men waiting to catch the docking ropes as soon as they were thrown.
"Hot damn, that's it!" Dean exclaimed. Seeing how close they were made him even more anxious to reach their destination. Only problem was, they were at the mercy of the wind currents. Suddenly, as if by the Fates, the sails seemed to catch a tailwind, which increased their speed. Hold on, sweetheart, Dean silently pleaded. I'm almost there, and once I am, I promise I will do everything in my power to protect you.
***
Sunlight filtered through gauzy curtains, stretching its fingers across the hand-sewn quilt tucked around the sleeping form in the bed. A knock at the door elicited a groan from the body being kept warm under the quilt. As much as she wanted to send away her visitor with a bark of, "Go away!", Rhaya reluctantly sat up and swung her legs over the side of the bed. "Just a minute," she mumbled.
Slowly padding over to the door, she opened it to reveal Darcy and Keira, and gave them a sleepy smile. "Come on in," she said through a yawn as she stepped aside to allow access.
"Your stepmother is expecting you to join her at the breakfast table to discuss some wedding-related details with you. She said, and I quote, 'If she's not here in the next 30 minutes, I will drag her to this table myself and I won't care if she's still in her nightgown'," Darcy explained with a grimace.
The three women looked at each other and all rolled their eyes. "Fine," Rhaya sighed. "I'll wish my father 'good morning', have some breakfast, and hear what the Evil One has to say. Then I will return to my room where I will disregard everything she said that doesn't fit with our plans."
Twenty-nine minutes later, Rhaya sauntered into the dining room, where her father and Carissa were seated. Her father was situated at the head of the table, where she stopped to give him a peck on the cheek. "Good morning, Papa," she wished him with a smile, and then took her seat in the chair to his right.
"Good morning, Rhaya. I was beginning to wonder if you'd be joining us as I requested, or if you'd run away again," Carissa remarked.
"Good morning, Stepmother. As you can see, I am present and accounted for, and within your 30-minute deadline. Fully dressed as well, because goodness knows I wouldn't want to be brought to the table inappropriately dressed," she challenged, her eyes narrowed at Carissa.
Lord Darius turned to his daughter, barely suppressing a smile. "Today's a busy day for you, sweetheart. Are you nervous with all of this? It would be all right if you were, since you are taking an important step in your life," he pointed out as he reached for her hand.
Rhaya squeezed her father's hand. "No, Papa, as important as all of this is, I'm not nervous. I'm certain that events will unfold exactly as they are supposed to," she replied.
At that moment, a staff member entered the dining room and informed Lord Darius of a matter that needed his immediate attention. He politely excused himself, expressing his apologies to his wife and daughter. He pressed a kiss to Rhaya's temple and told her that he would be waiting for her in the designated area of the church to walk her down the aisle.
As soon as he left the room, the tension between the two women increased to the 11th level. The remaining staff stood off to the side, ready to fulfill any need, but were also prepared for a hasty exit, should the situation require it. They glanced nervously among themselves as they waited for some sort of break that was sure to occur.
"You certainly enjoy pushing my orders to the breaking point, don't you? I ask you to be here in thirty minutes, you show up in twenty-nine," she commented dryly. "Mark my words, Rhaya, this day will unfold exactly as it is supposed to, because I will make sure of it. I will watch your father walk you down the aisle in the dress I have chosen for you. He will then take his place at my side, where we will bear witness to your exchange of vows with Ashton," Carissa concluded.
Rhaya scoffed in response to her last comment. "You know damned well that I do not want to be married to Ashton or to anyone else unless it is my decision. Just because I'm the governor's daughter doesn't mean I'm entitled to anything less than my own choice of who I share my life with. I realize that today is going forward whether I like it or not, but that doesn't mean everything will happen exactly according to your plan," she retorted.
Carissa slammed her hands on the table, causing the dishes to rattle and the staff to jump in surprise. "Watch your language, and DO NOT cross me, Rhaya!" she shouted, then took a deep breath to calm herself. "I will get what I want, which is you married to Ashton and out of this house, away from your father. Should you decide to take your chances and choose to defy me, there will be hell to pay, I assure you."
"Are you threatening me? Your own stepdaughter?" Rhaya exclaimed in disbelief.
Carissa calmly sipped her tea. "No threat, darling, a promise. The last person who got in the way of what I wanted? She suffered a great deal before there was nothing in this world that could save her. Your father, bless his soul, attempted everything to save her, which nearly cost him his own life. Luckily the Fates decided to intervene and spare him. While it's unfortunate that his salvation was at her expense, in the end, I got what I wanted. As I always will," she added darkly.
Rhaya watched as her stepmother returned her teacup to its saucer and rose from her chair. When Carissa rounded the corner of the table, she bent close to Rhaya's ear and whispered, "Don't be late." She patted her stepdaughter's shoulder before leaving the room.
The last exchange left Rhaya and the remaining dining room staff stunned and in shock. They all asked themselves the same questions. Did we hear that correctly? Did the governor's wife just admit that she had something to do with Lady Isabella's illness or even her death?!? What should we do now? With a renewed determination, Rhaya stood up from her chair and flashed a quick, sympathetic smile to the staff before leaving the room.
As soon as she closed the door to her bedroom, Rhaya began to pace the floor, her hands shaking in both fury and fear. Fury that Carissa essentially admitted to playing some part in what happened to her mother. Fear, because if push came to shove, and Rhaya pushed, Carissa would shove. After that, there's no telling what the outcome would be. She's already somewhat proven that murder is not beneath her and would feel zero remorse about it.
Rhaya wrapped her arms around herself, trying to focus on the plan formulated with Darcy and Keira. She glanced at the clock on her dresser and noted that it was time to start gathering what she would need to get ready for the wedding. Her dress and veil were already at the church, but she needed her shoes, makeup and hair accessories. Keira and Darcy would be helping her to apply her makeup and arrange her hair.
This new development from breakfast with Carissa further solidified Rhaya's decision to abscond from her wedding day. She didn't love the groom and couldn't stand to remain any longer than ten minutes in his presence. In addition, she knew of his plans for her to meet with an unknown "accident", one from which he would make certain that she would not survive. Then there's that last, pesky detail. Her heart would always belong to a treasure-hunting sea captain, and that was unlikely to change.
***
Crowley paced back and forth beneath the tree while he waited for his counterpart to arrive. He had received a message from a member of the governor's staff, asking for a meeting. The note said it was important and pertained to the upcoming nuptials of Lady Rhaya and Lord Ashton. Crowley was of the opinion that the wedding was ill-advised, due to his perceived reluctance on the part of the bride-to-be.
When he heard the soft footsteps to his right, his hand immediately flew to the dagger at his side. Before he could draw it, the mysterious stranger called out. "Captain Crowley? Thank you for meeting me here." The visitor stepped into view, with beams from the moonlight allowing him to recognize her.
"Ah, Captain Keira, I presume," he drawled. "Currently of The Aurora, as inherited from Sydney "The Sparrow" upon her retirement," he remarked.
She nodded. "I appreciate you meeting me on such short notice and hope you can help me. I assume you are here for the wedding of my sister and her pig of a fiancé," she started. At Crowley's nod of confirmation, she continued. "This wedding must not take place, for many reasons. Not the least of which is Rhaya has developed feelings for Captain Dean Winchester."
Crowley snickered. "You don't say? Well, will wonders never cease. And what, pray tell, does this have to do with me?" he asked.
Keira explained the plan, or as much as had been formulated so far. Crowley listened intently, nodding where appropriate and offering his own suggestions. When she was finished presenting her case, she kept her gaze firmly locked on her fellow captain. "Can we count on your assistance, Captain Crowley?"
He thoughtfully stroked his bearded chin before his face broke into a wide grin. "From one captain to another, I will assist you in your endeavor. The lady Rhaya deserves much better than she has been promised to. Not to mention, it will give me no end of amusement to see Lord Jerk-Face get ditched at the altar," he muttered, sticking out his hand.
A look of gratitude passed over Keira's face as she shook Captain Crowley's hand. "Thank you, Captain, I swear you won't regret this. I promise to see that you are more than fairly compensated at the conclusion of this fiasco," she vowed. After giving Crowley a salute and receiving one in return, Keira reminded him to wait by the tree for the next phase of the plan.
On her way back to the mansion, Connor, the captain of the guards, was on his way to meet her. "Captain Keira, a ship has just entered our sovereign waters, The Black Diamond, and is asking for permission to dock in our harbor. However, Lady Carissa gave strict orders that our harbor is to be closed from now until the newlyweds depart. What shall I do?" he wondered.
Keira pinched the bridge of her nose and gave an exasperated sigh. "Of course she'd order that," she mumbled. "Connor, I've known you almost as long as I've known Rhaya, and I'm sure you'd want what's best for her. In that spirit, please grant docking privileges to The Black Diamond. I accept full responsibility from Lady Carissa," she affirmed, then glanced at her watch. "I am expected to meet with Rhaya to start getting ready for the wedding, so I must take my leave."
"I will do as you suggest, Captain Keira," he nodded, then took a half-step closer to her. "I hope I won't be out of line when I ask if you have some sort of plan for our dear Rhaya?" he asked.
"Absolutely, Connor," she smirked. "Please ask Captain Winchester to meet Captain Crowley at my favorite tree, the one where Rhaya and I first met." He agreed and watched as Keira continued on her way.
***
Rhaya sat in her chair at the vanity, absently twirling a makeup brush while she waited for her partners in crime. The plan was simple enough, sensible, not too many moving parts. She only hoped it was sufficient to ensure the ultimate outcome of her non-marriage to Ashton. If for some reason this didn't work, well....she shuddered to think of the alternative.
Keira and Darcy entered the room around fifteen minutes later and began the process of preparing the bride. Rhaya's hair was styled in a classic updo, with wispy tendrils on each side loosely curled to frame her face. Her makeup was kept minimal, using mostly neutral colors to allow her natural beauty to shine through.
After those tasks were completed, the women helped the bride to step into her dress. While Darcy laced the corseted bodice, Rhaya closed her eyes and allowed her thoughts to drift towards Dean. Though it had only been a short two weeks since she had last seen him, it had seemed like the longest two weeks of her life.
It was more than just his friendship she missed. His absence made her heart ache to be with him, see him. She longed to look into his mossy green eyes and not find judgment in them for being her true self in his presence. Especially now, she craved the safety and security she felt when his arms were around her. Only now was she finally able to admit to herself that she loved him, and had been in love with him for some time.
"Time for your veil, my dearest friend," Darcy nudged softly. Rhaya gestured with her hand to where the veil was draped over the back of a chair. The silver tiara was simple, yet held no shortage of crystals to add sparkle to the occasion. Darcy situated it in her hair, careful not to disturb the locks piled on top of her head. Keira fanned out the piece of netting at the back to ensure no wrinkles, then moved to stand in front of the bride.
"For what it's worth, you look beautiful, Sis. Are you ready?" Keira asked as she and Darcy each took one of Rhaya's hands, giving them a gentle squeeze in consolation.
Rhaya took a deep breath to steady her nerves. "Ready as I'll ever be, I suppose," she replied. A knock sounded at the door and she heard her father's voice from the other side announcing it was time to go. Rhaya picked up her bouquet and the trio headed for the door.
Keira and Darcy stepped out first in their floor-length bridesmaids' dresses made of navy blue crèpe back satin, with a lace overlay on the bodice. Their hair and makeup were similar in style to the bride, and each carried a bouquet of white roses with a red ribbon woven among them.
Lord Darius gave each woman a beaming smile and expressed how lovely they looked before giving them a peck on the cheek. When he turned to his daughter, his eyes became glossy as he realized she was no longer his little girl, but a full-grown woman on her wedding day. "How I wish your mother was here to see this," he whispered, a lone tear streaking down his cheek. "Whatever happens today, I want you to know I love you very much, Rhaya."
Tears were threatening in her own eyes as the magnitude of the occasion and all that would unfold suddenly caught up with her. "I love you too, Papa," she replied softly. "Quick, pass me your handkerchief, please. Darcy will have my head if I ruin the work she put in on my makeup," she chuckled.
He did as she asked and watched as she carefully dabbed at her eyes. Once she had her emotions somewhat under control again, he kissed her forehead. Then he reached up and brought the veil down over her face. The doors then opened, and the music began to play the chosen piece for the march down the aisle. There were many expressions of approval rippling among the guests as the bride and her father walked past the pews.
At the altar, Lord Darius placed Rhaya's hand in Ashton's, then moved to take his place at Carissa's side. Rhaya hazarded a glance at her stepmother, who had a satisfied smirk on her face, certain that she had won this particular battle, if not the war. A grin twitched at the corners of Rhaya's mouth, because she knew the day was only getting started.
"Please be seated," the officiant commanded. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today...."
***
Dean was met at the docks by Connor, who relayed Keira's message for him to meet someone in the trees behind the estate. The message was cryptic, but he trusted that the meeting was all part of Keira's plan, thus he followed its instructions. When he got to the designated spot, he could see no one waiting for him. He was about to leave when a figure emerged from behind the giant trunk.
"Captain Winchester I presume?" the man inquired.
"Who's asking?" Dean countered, his hand on his sword.
"Name's Fergus McLeod, but I'm better known as Crowley, Captain of The Moon Raider. I'm here on official business for Lady Rhaya and her friends, whose objective is to stop the wedding," he revealed.
Dean relaxed a bit and held out his hand for Crowley to shake. "I've heard of you. Nice to meet you in person, and I appreciate your help." Leaning closer, he asked, "By the way, what exactly is the plan?"
"Right now, we need to get you and Sam to the church, so I'll explain on the way." Dean started to follow, then stopped short at the mention of his brother. Crowley rolled his eyes at the unasked question of how he knew Sam had tagged along to the meeting. "Your brother must not have done well at Hide-and-Seek when you were wee Winchesters. He sticks out like a sore thumb. C'mon, we don't have much time," Crowley remarked.
***
The officiant had nearly finished his speech about how important it was to love, honor, respect, and cherish each other. Then he asked the most crucial question. "If anyone here knows of any reason why these two individuals should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace."
Rhaya waited anxiously for someone, preferably Dean, to speak up on her behalf. As the silence grew, so did the beating of her heart until she thought it would nearly leap out of her chest. When a respectable amount of time had passed with no objections, the officiant smiled and prepared to resume the ceremony. Rhaya's heart plummeted to her shoes at the prospect of being legally bound to Ashton, and with that, she would always be at his mercy.
"Do you, Lord Ashton Kane, take Rhaya Payton to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forth?" the officiant asked.
"I do," Ashton replied with a fake smile.
The officiant turned his attention to Rhaya. "And do you, Rhaya Payton, take Ashton Kane to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forth?"
Rhaya looked into Ashton's eyes and saw nothing but a hardness and an arrogance, with no love for her in them. She was determined to not be trapped in a miserable marriage with him. If Dean wouldn't save her by bursting through the doors and declaring his love, then she would have to save herself. "I....I....," she managed to get out before collapsing to the floor in a puddle of white.
Chaos erupted at the altar, with Keira attempting to assess Rhaya's condition among the ever-growing crowd. Lord Darius broke through and knelt at his daughter's side while bellowing at people to back away and give the bride some room to breathe.
Keira clasped Rhaya's right hand while checking her pulse with the left. She felt an almost imperceptible pressure on her right hand, then noticed a minute twitch in Rhaya's nose. To her relief, Keira realized this was the signal from the bride that it wasn't a true fainting spell.
Nonetheless, she had to get Rhaya somewhere more quiet to reassess the situation. Fortunately, she saw Connor weaving his way through the crowd to offer his assistance, so she called out to him. When he finally reached Keira's position, she told him what had happened. The captain of the guards scooped Rhaya up in his arms and took her back to the room she was in before the ceremony.
***
Carissa was a mixture of emotions as she watched the picture-perfect wedding crumble before her eyes. She was so close to getting what she wanted, and then Rhaya had to go and faint in front of everyone at her own wedding. Appearances meant everything to Carissa, and this certainly didn't help matters any.
Ashton was sure to be embarrassed by her stepdaughter's inability to suck it up long enough to say "I do". Lord Darius, of course, was beside himself, worried about his precious daughter. He rushed after Connor and the others back to the dressing room, where the doctor waited. Carissa moved to follow her husband, but was stopped short by a look that said he preferred she wait for him to return with news.
Maybe it was the stress of Rhaya trying to meet everyone's expectations of her, or her objection to an arranged marriage that caused her to faint. Frankly, Carissa didn't care. All that mattered was that at the end of the day, Rhaya was legally bound to Ashton in holy matrimony. However, the more Carissa thought about it, the more her anger grew at the distinct possibility that some shenanigans were brewing.
Carissa turned just in time to see Lord Ashton stomping over to where she was standing at the back of the church. "What in the hell is going on? One minute she's about to say 'I do', the next minute she's on the floor passed out!! She must be plotting something," he muttered. "For all we know, she could be escaping out of the window of that little room where they're keeping her!"
"Get a grip, Ashton," Carissa hissed. "I agree, her behavior is rather suspicious, but I have given her ample warning of what will happen if she does not follow through. Besides, I have guards stationed at every possible exit. They are under strict orders that if she tries to escape, one of them will see her and not allow her to leave the grounds," she assured him.
Ashton snorted. "Most of those guards have known her since she was a child. Those who haven't will take their cues from the more senior members of the guard," he grumbled. He scanned the crowd to see if Rhaya was somehow trying to blend in with the crowd to then make her escape. Finally, his eyes landed on Lucifer and a few of his men, standing around and taking in the scene. Ashton marched over to the group with a plan forming in his mind.
"Well, well, Lord Ashton, seems you're having some trouble closing this deal," Lucifer smirked.
"If you want to keep that bonus, you'll help me make sure my bride doesn't escape," Ashton seethed.
Lucifer shrugged. "From what I can see, the escape routes are all blocked by the governor's guards," he replied.
"I want people I can....trust, and unfortunately, you with your men are the best candidates. That's who I need to be guarding the exit points, not Lady Rhaya's 'friends'," he snapped.
"Fine," Lucifer muttered, before going over to his men. He relayed Ashton's instructions, but with a few modifications to make sure the deal was upheld.
"Now, I'm going in there to make sure she finishes what was started," Ashton grumbled as he started towards the back room.
Right as Carissa had picked up her skirts to follow him, Lord Darius returned to her side to give an update to his wife and his daughter's almost-husband. "Rhaya's fine, she just got a bit overwhelmed with the magnitude of the day's events. Keira and Darcy are in with her now, getting her calmed down enough to where she can continue with the ceremony."
Carissa looked at her husband in disbelief, as if he'd sprouted another head. "Are you serious? The three of them are plotting something, I'm sure of it, and I'm going to find out what," she declared. She started to head towards the back room, determined to put a stop to whatever mischief was being plotted.
At that moment, the bride reappeared, veil covering her face, ready to begin the ceremony again. Carissa and Ashton made their way back up the aisle, their actions assuring everyone that the wedding would pick up where it left off.
Once she reached the altar, Carissa moved into her designated pew and Ashton took his place in front of the officiant, while Lord Darius escorted the bride. He turned to face the bride before giving her away again to Ashton. When the governor lifted the veil, a collective gasp rippled through the church.
"YOU'RE NOT RHAYA!!" Ashton thundered.

I See You || Who’s Billy Hargrove? - Pt 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Masterlist | Send In Requests | Buy Me A Coffee
Warnings: slight angst if you look hard enough, fluff, loss of loved one mentioned, brothers being brothers, light swearing
Word count: 1718
Pairing: Winchester Sister, Billy x reader
Request: hi! i was wondering if you could do a sister!winchester where maybe they go to Hawkins for a case? the reader ends up meeting billy and they fall for each other?
A/N: I’ve decided to write multiple parts to this request, thank you and my apologies for taking so long. I’m desperately trying to get back into my flow of writing, and I appreciate all of you being so patient :) Enjoy!
~
“Where are we going again?” “Indiana, only three states over, so no need to worry.” “Only three? Dean, that’s like an eleven maybe twelve hour drive.” Your brother gave you a shrug, keeping his eyes on the road in front of him while Sam stayed glued to the book in his hand.
“What am I supposed to do for eleven n’ half hours? Suffer?” “Well, you could start by listening to some good ol’ tunes.” Dean grinned, turning up the volume as ‘Kashmir’ started blasting through the speakers. Rolling your eyes, you slumped back into your seat with a grumble. This was going to be a long ride.
For hours on hours, you listened to Dean yell the lyrics to Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Aerosmith and even The Rolling Stones if you were paying attention. Thank god for Sam, who at least talked to you every now and then, desperate enough for even a game of ‘I Spy’. But when the time came around, the three of you stopped at a small motel for a break. The moment the key to the room was given to you, you sprinted outside, running towards the room number as you mumbled it to yourself on repeat. Grinning when you finally reached the door and entered, throwing yourself on the bed with a content sigh. Your older brothers laughing and rolling their eyes, “Didn’t you sleep the entire way here?” “Listen, travelling is tiring no matter what.” Dean shook his head, sitting on the other bed and opening up his laptop as Sam headed for the table. Your eyes eventually shut, preparing your body and mind for another long day tomorrow morning.
Your brothers dragged you out of bed, still half asleep in one of your old Ac/Dc shirts, as you thanked the heavens for being in the back seat of the Impala once more where you slept most of the way. Dreaming and keeping thoughts to yourself, majority of them being memories until you finally went back to sleep. By the time you woke up, you noticed the small sign of ‘Welcome To Hawkins’ “Hawkins?” “That’s right sweetheart, welcome to Hawkins.”
Although you were a hunter, your brothers pushed you towards school. Sam encouraged and helped you get A’s, and Dean sat with you during meltdowns or threatened the boy who only checked you out. They never wanted ‘this’ life for you. They wanted the best for you, even if they only knew you for the short period of time, the one phone call that brought you into their lives changed everything. And if your happiness meant out cuddling with a boy on his couch giggling to Looney Tunes at three am, then it made them happy too. Now, this meant school. Online, or offline. If they knew you were staying for more than a week, you were pushed to attend the school outside of the screen you were so used to. ‘To socialize’, as Sam would say.
“‘Hawkins High School’. Couldn’t they have named it something better?” You sighed, letting your hair down from the bun it was originally in as Dean shrugged his shoulders. “Can’t help you with a school name, princess.” “Y/n, it’s fine, just.. Try and talk to the witness, okay?” “Right..” letting out a small huff while Dean pointed a finger at you and winked, “I’m heading out now, should be back later tonight. Don’t do anything I would do.” Rolling your eyes, you went and sat down beside Sam the moment Dean closed the door. “Do I really have to attend school, again? It’s easier to just do it online you know.” Sam gently wrapped an arm around your shoulders, “I know it’s hard Y/n, but school’s the best option for you. And it’ll be much easier for you to be in school with Darcy rather than us talking to a teenage girl.” scrunching up your nose, you sighed. “Yeah, I know..”
Waking up to a pillow thrown at your face, was not something you wanted. In response, you groaned and threw one back. Only to earn a laugh; “Hah! Missed!” Coming from your oldest brother, while Sam laughed at the two of you while staying glued to his laptop. “C’mon Y/n, first day.” “First day of the hell hole, sure.” “Hey, all of us here have been to hell, and we’d all agree that we’d choose school.” Grumbling softly to yourself, you sighed “yeah, I guess..” Sam gently patted your shoulder, “Listen, if you leave now maybe you and Dean can stop for coffee.” “Woah, woah. Who said I was driving grumpy?” “Ha ha.” Sticking out your tongue as Dean mocked you in return from across the room.
“Guys, c’mon. Dean, just drive Y/n and go get yourselves some coffee.” “Alright, let’s get going ken doll.” sighing, you grabbed your older brother by the arm and headed for the door. Groaning softly the moment you closed the door and looked up at the sky, praying that today would bring you at least some form of joy or entertainment.
The moment you entered the school, you wanted to just walk right back out. Although, that would leave you dealing with more grumbles and raised eyebrows from Dean, as he gave you a long lecture about boys, girls, dating, school life, and to not drop to the bottom of the food chain, as he says.
“Excuse me,” Smiling softly, you sat down in front of a girl, she had her nose shoved in a book, and when she looked up to meet your gaze, she adjusted her glasses. “Yes?” “I’m sorry, I’m just kinda lost and not sure how this school works.” Mentally, you crossed your fingers. She looked like her, she acted like her description, but you could never properly know sometimes. “Oh.” The girl placed down her book, “I guess I can help, I’m Darcy.” Perfect.
Smiling softly, you reached out and shook her hand. “Y/n.” “Where you from Y/n?” “Kansas, I moved here with my brothers.” Darcy furrowed her eyebrows, “just your brothers? What about your parents?” “Mum was an alcoholic, not too sure about dad.” You weren’t entirely lying, there was at least some truth behind your words. “Oh, I’m sorry..” She frowned, shutting her book and pushing it aside, leaning into the conversation. “My parent’s aren’t together either.” “I’m sorry to hear that,” you frowned, but this conversation was getting too depressing for you already. Nodding your head towards the book, “What are you reading?” “Oh,” she glanced down, pushing the book gently towards you. “Fahrenheit four fifty-one.” “Ah, the book about books.” “So you’ve read it?” “Bits and pieces.” You mumbled, looking through the book as another figure came into view, sitting beside Darcy and wrapping their arms around her.
“Dar, I heard about Nathan the other day..” the two girls shared a glance, before hugging each other tightly as you sat silently, gently pushing the book away. “Sorry Y/n,” Darcy sent you a small, sorrowful smile, “someone close to me just passed away, I hate to drop this on you like that. Even though we just met.” “I’m so sorry to hear that,” you frowned, “I hope things get easier for you.” Her eyes welled with tears, “Thank you.” wiping her eyes, she whined, “Dammit.. I’ll be back, please stay here.” Darcy ran off with her friend following her lead, and your heart ached, understanding every emotion that she’s going through.
Science wasn’t exactly your forte. Hell, school wasn’t even your forte. Constantly sighing and grumbling, your eyes darting back and forth between the window and your notes. Desperately wanting to throw yourself out the window, away from this hell hole that you’d only been here for nearly half a day. Third period was killing you so much, that you were actually interested in the flirting going on between the boy that sat behind you and the girl that sat in front of you. But dear god, at some point both of them got annoying. You could practically feel this guy’s breath on your neck, and the girl kept leaning over your desk. Sighing softly, you glanced up with a small forced smile. “Sorry, I know you’re probably too self absorbed to understand, but some of us actually want an education. So if you could flirt with him later, that would be great.” The girl in front of you gave a scoff, narrowing her eyes and glancing you up and down. While the guy behind you, chuckled.
Writing notes for science turned more into drawing doodles for the art show you were never going to have. But by the time the bell rang, a sigh fell from your lips. Relieved as you gathered your things and slung the bag over your shoulder, heading towards the door where a figure stood. A tooth pic resting in between his lips as he chewed on it and smirked, “Hey sweetheart.” Furrowing your eyebrows, you stared at the boy in front of you. “If this is about me telling your girlfriend to fuck off, I don’t care. I need to focus.” “Focus on your art, or science?” Raising an eyebrow, you grumbled, “listen, don’t bug me, and I won’t bug you.” moving towards the door, his large figure moved to block your exit. “What if I want to?” “Want to what?” “Bug you.” A small groan fell from your lips, “I don’t have time for this, and I don’t even know who you are, so please move.” The boy chuckled, “Billy, Hargrove.”
“How’d it go?” Dean hummed, pulling out of the school parking lot the moment you stepped into the Impala. “Fine, just get me out of here before I plan my own funeral.” Dean chuckled softly, Ac/Dc was already playing quietly, and you wanted nothing more than to just get back to the motel and sleep embrace you. “Did you find her?” Nodding your head, “Darcy, yes.” “Make any friends?” Your thoughts traveled back, to Darcy’s other friend, the girl in front of you in third period was definitely not your friend, and neither was Billy damn Hargrove.
“No.” Was all you said, as you looked back out the window and let the thoughts in the back of your mind consume you.
A/N: In all honesty this will probably turn into a mini series, but this is finally posted so I can stop hating myself for it. Next chapter should be posted sometime this week!
Feedback is great <3

A Well Built Ship (Captain) (Jim Kirk xDarcy Lewis)
Tumblr media
Jim x Darcy
Life in the 23rd century wasn’t too bad, if somewhat strange, Darcy reflected frequently. Technology was vastly improved, there were no money issues, medical knowledge was leaps and bounds better and many societal barriers no longer existed.
It had taken them awhile to adjust to their new reality, but in the end, the four of them who’d made the time jump had started to blend in and thrive. Darcy, Sam, And Bucky had all joined Starfleet in various capacities and Jane was currently sciencing in Space on a research mission. Darcy herself was stationed on the Starbase Yorktown, undergoing some intensive cultural studies to aid her in her diplomatic jobs. She eventually hoped to get a posting on a ship and explore strange new worlds with the rest of them, but for now, she was working on situations such as how to tell when a Tellarite was seriously angry or just complimenting someone. (It could be hard to tell, given how they loved arguing). [[MORE]]
She was meandering along the beautiful walkway, (seriously, the architecture and design were mind-blowing!), when an approaching ship caught her eye.
“Is that what I think it is?” She exclaimed to herself, seeing NCC-1701 emblazoned boldly across the saucer. It was.
“Wow. The USS Enterprise,” she breathed, wondering why no one else seemed remotely excited by the appearance of the famed ship. Sure, ships arriving was a regular occurrence, but the Enterprise had never yet graced them with her regal presence.
“Oh, baby, you are gorgeous,” she muttered, reluctantly tearing her eyes off of the Enterprise. She’d have to hold off her admirations for later, or she’d be late for her next lecture. Turning on her heels, she marched off, plotting how she could get herself an up close visit to the flagship of Starfleet.
Several hours later, Darcy watched as the last stragglers from the Enterprise emerged into Yorktown’s main hub. She scanned the crew to see if their were any potential information sources, but most looked very intent on a goal or were busy in conversation or happy reunions. “Hmm, this could be harder than I thought,” she pondered. “Dang long winded ambassadors!”
Her eyes suddenly fell on a lone gold shirted man standing alone, apart from everyone else, watching the commotion and joy. He had a downright wistful look on his face that tugged on her heart. Ah. Target sighted.
She strode toward him, noting his striking good looks the closer he got. Then she saw his rank stripes and almost stopped.
She was walking right up to a Captain to ask to see his ship! Was she crazy? Maybe, but what did she have to lose? Couldn’t hurt to strike up a friendly conversation. The man looked lonely, after all.
“You look a little lost, Captain? New here?” She asked in a light, slight teasing tone.
“You could say that.” His voice was soft and deep and vivid blue eyes focused on her as he spoke. Darcy’s own eyes widened. Holy crap, the man was gorgeous. She’d seen holo pics of the famous James T. Kirk, but none of them had done him justice. Gulping slightly, she smiled at him in a hospitable manner.
“Well, welcome to the Yorktown, Sir,” she greeted. “I can point you to the nearest kiosk, if you like. I also am an expert on the best cafes and watering holes around here.”
She stopped herself and blushed at her annoying tendency to have her mouth run away from her brain. The last thing she wanted was for him to think she was hitting on him. (Well, Maybe not the LAST thing.)
Captain Kirk smiled at her. “I appreciate that, Lieutenant. This place is a maze to me right now. It’s a but overwhelming after being out in the Black for so long.”
“I would imagine so,” Darcy agreed, trying to restrain her inner fangirl from getting out and betraying her. “Professional. Remain professional. You can do this,” she told herself.
“The nearest directory kiosk is just down that way about fifty meters,” she pointed out to him, indicating the direction with her finger.
“Thanks, Lieutenant....”
“Lewis. Darcy Lewis,” she replied, willingly shaking his hand, perhaps a second too long.
“Jim Kirk,” the captain responded. “Nice to meet you. Are you stationed here?”
“For now,” she answered. “But I’m going to apply for a posting on a Starship once I’ve finished my studies here. Wanna-be diplomats have a lot to master before we’re let loose on the universe.”
“Diplomacy, huh? A much needed skill these days. Goodness knows, I somewhat lack in that area myself.”
Jim grinned a self-deprecating smile and Darcy’s stomach flipped even as she giggled at him. It was no wonder Kirk could charm anyone. One look at those dimples and she’d follow him to the edge of the universe.
“Oh, I’ve heard the stories, Captain,” she assured him. Kirk had a history of getting himself shot at or punched, and even though said incidents had decreased lately, the reputation stuck.
“Of course you have,” he sighed. “Let me assure you, most of them are greatly exaggerated.”
“Really? I wonder if your CMO would agree,” she said with a smirk.
Jim snorted and rubbed his forehead sheepishly.
“Bones gets stressed over a paper cut, so no.”
The wistful look returned to his face and she followed Kirk’s gaze to a cute couple enthusiastically embracing, a small toddler clinging onto her father’s legs.
“Awww. They look happy,” she observed.
“Yep,” he sighed. “They needed this. These deep space missions can be really hard on a crew, especially those with families.”
Darcy nodded. She couldn’t imagine being away from loved ones that long. Good thing she was currently unattached. She wouldn’t be leaving anyone behind to worry about her. On the flip side, their was no one to come home to, which probably explained Kirk’s sad looks.
“I take it you don’t have family nearby?”
“My mom’s in the black and my brother is off planet. Hope you’ve got better luck.”
“Not really,” Darcy shrugged, unable to even begin to explain her time travel and that all her family was likely dead. “But I have a couple of good friends around who are like brothers, so that helps. How long will the Enterprise be here?”
“Don’t know. I’ll find that out once I’ve met with Commodore Paris.” He glanced at the time unit on a nearby screen. “Speaking of which, I need to check in with her. I should probably head over towards the important looking buildings.”
“Of course,” Darcy replied with a smile, trying to think of a way to see him again. Before she could, Jim’s eyes were back on hers.
“Hey, Maybe if you’ve got time in the next couple of days, you could show me one of those great dining spots you mentioned?”
His tone was nothing but friendly, yet with a touch of hope to it that encouraged Darcy.
“I’d be happy to, Captain,” she replied slyly, “On one condition.”
His eyebrow rose.
“What’s That?”
“You give me a tour of your beautiful lady ship,” she decreed boldly. “The Enterprise is incomparable and I have a mighty need for a close up view.” (Of that ass!) Her wicked brain added, all too aware of the fact the Captain was as well built as his ship.
The Captain looked at her with downright awe and decided interest now.
“Wow. Someone who appreciates her. It’s a deal.”
He stuck out his hand again with a wide grin. “Call me Jim.”
Matching his grin with one of her own, Darcy shook it. “And you can call me Darcy. When can we meet?”
