Unfinished Work #30: “Smudge goes to StarClan”

I never finished it, but it’s still something I really like the idea of! The basic idea was that Smudge had a very lax belief in StarClan bc of his SkyClan dreams and Firestar overall, and when he died that belief got him into that afterlife, where he is then helped by friends and associates of Firestar (as well as a few surprise guests)

The end result was going to be Smudge being, like, the shittiest kittypet-warrior ever, where he could hunt and stuff but mostly he just hung out with the kits, and ended with him meeting up with Firestar and sharing an embrace. Alas, it just never came out.

Smudge doesn’t know exactly when it all began. You listen to Firestar long enough, he’ll make you believe in anything, even cats in the stars.

Not at first, of course. But he liked the idea of it. Of having a bunch of Firestars in the sky, just generally making a fuss. It helped ease his heart when the forest was torn down.

After awhile, when he was getting on in his years, Smudge even talked to them. He knew they wouldn’t hear, or answer, but it was nice nonetheless.

“You look nice tonight,” he’d tell the stars on a clear night. “Firestar used to tell me stories- well, mentioned it to me, really- about you all chattering on together tonight. I wish I had more cats to talk to.”

Eventually, Smudge died of a bad heart. That was when his troubles began.

The first StarClan cat he meets is a gray tom with a thin build and wild gleam in his eye. He knows it’s a wild cat because that’s the look Smudge has seen in Firestar’s green eyes.

“It’s nice to meet you, Smudge,” he purred. “I’m Mole. I waited behind here just for you.”

Smudge blinked at him. He knew he was dead, without a doubt, but… He reared back on his paws, fur fluffing up. “You’re one of those star-cats, aren’t you?”

“StarClan,” Mole agreed cheerfully. “Don’t worry. It won’t take long to meet the others, now that we know the way.”

“But- but I’m a kittypet!” The thought of spending eternity among bloodthirsty forest cats turned his body cold. “StarClan is for warriors!”

“I’m a rouge myself. Well, was.” Mole shrugged. “I believed just like you did. Don’t be afraid, Smudge. It’s a safe journey.”

Sinking in on himself, the deceased kittypet wondered if it were possible to stay behind. It’s too late now; I’m dead. Besides. I owe Firestar a talking-to. He should’ve warned me! “I don’t suppose I could go a different path?”

Mole gazed at him a long moment. “Your destiny was your own, Smudge. This just happens to be the path you took.”

The words soothed him, in an odd way. He talks just like Firestar.

Smudge got to his paws, a longing to curl up in his nest quickly rising. “I’m not much of a wild cat.”

“You don’t have to be,” Mole purred. “Just a decent friend.”

Smudge won’t say walking across the mountains was easy, even as a star-cat. He also won’t say that he didn’t hold Mole up on many occasions, not knowing how to hunt or find shelter.

“Don’t worry, I’m used to it,” Mole had meowed. “I’ve traveled with house cats before.”

The second star-cat he meets honestly terrifies him. She’s bright red, like Firestar, but with a calculating look about her. Scars everywhere. The kind of cat that Smudge hears stories about.

“One of Firestar’s kittypet friends, I presume,” she meowed smoothly. “As if StarClan didn’t have enough as is.”

“Now, now, Russetfur,” Mole chided. “You’re from the Twolegplace yourself.”

Russetfur twitched an ear dismissively. “I never counted myself out of that list,” she murmured, then turned tail. “Come on. I found you a place to nest.”

StarClan, it turns out, is a house cat’s worst nightmare. Cats are scattered everywhere, hunting or sleeping or talking. Some look nicer than others. Smudge had held the forlorn hope of maybe receiving a rundown house to use, but instead the she-cat leads him to a hollowed out log close to a stream.

“I hope you can hunt, kittypet,” she growled, flicking her tail for him to go inside, “because I’m not doing it for you.”

“I’ll help Smudge get settled in.” Mole dipped his head respectfully. “Thank you, Russetfur.”

Russetfur snorted and walked away.

Mole gently led him inside. “She was a great deputy, or so I hear. Perhaps a bit too confrontational, but still great.”

“I thought she was gonna eat me!”

“Eat you? No. Probably scratch you up a bit, though. No, let’s see where we can get you some moss.”

His fourth acquaintance brings the fifth, and they both come while Smudge is trying to nap.

Mole is a decent nest-mate, but it’s hard to get some rest when the world itself seems to be breathing. He misses the sounds of his owners; the fan and creaky footsteps on the carpet. He also longs for his soft bed, and struggles to make do with moss that has to be switched out all the time.

It’s hard to tell how long he spends hiding in the log, Mole coming and going. Smudge remembers all too well that time when Firestar almost ripped his pelt off for straying into Clan business. He’d rather avoid another confrontation like that in the afterlife.

Instead, they come to him.

“Hello?” A kindly voice calls one morning, and Smudge won’t deny that he tries to call upon the use of his claws, which are about as useful and sharp as twigs. “May we come in?”

I’m getting suspicious as a forest cat! Embarrassed, Smudge forced his pelt to lay flat. “Uh, sure?”

In trots in a cat that, like Russetfur, intimidates the fur off him. It’s not like before, where it was on a physical level. Something tells Smudge this cat knows the way of life better than any forest cat, has fought through innumerable triumphs and defeats. For a cat who’s been to the cutter, it’s easy to see he’s no match.

He sits down. His fur is black and whites, and he matches Smudge a bit in that sense. He waves a long tail to a small scrap of fur- also black and white. They could all almost be related, if not for the body types- Smudge is pudgy and soft; the long-tailed one is lean an strong- the small one is a stocky one, with Russetfur’s big shoulders. Had he grown, he might’ve been as muscular as her as well.

“I’m Tallstar,” the big one says. “And this is Badgerfang.”

Smudge blinks, trying not to show his terror. “Hi. I’m Smudge.”

“I know,” Tallstar purred. “You need not fear, Smudge. I’m an old friend of Firestar’s.”

He relaxes slightly. “Oh, thank goodness.”

“Wow.” Badgerfang breaths, creeping closer to dab a paw at his fluffy pelt. “You look so soft!”

“Badgerfang has never met a kittypet before,” Tallstar informed him apologetically. “I hope you don’t mind.”

“Keep those claws sheathed, and I guess it’s fine.” Smudge stretched out his legs. “Aren’t you young for a warrior? Not that I would know, of course.”

“Yup!” Badgerfang chirped.

Tallstar bowed his head, whiskers trembling. “One must admire such a great honor for a kit.”

“Oh.” Smudge gives his chest a quick lick. “Sorry.”

“Honor isn’t something to feel sorry for, although death may be painful.” Tallstar gingerly stretched, sharp teeth, dangerous in the half-light. “So, are you pleased to know Firestar is safe?”

“Huh?”

“The last you saw of him was before the monsters destroyed the forest. Surely you must’ve worried?”

Smudge lowered his ears. Mostly he’d just felt lonely. “Well, it was Firestar, you know? I figured he’d find a way to keep all of them safe. And he always had this place.”

“This place?” Tallstar probed.

“Yeah. Stars. There isn’t a lot of them in the Twolegplace, but there was some. I figured there wasn’t enough for all the wild cats, so he had to be alive.”

The tom seemed thoughtfully. “You believed even then?”

“I guess? Really, I just like the idea. Firestar was a close friend of mine, and having a bunch of protective cats living in the stars didn’t seem so bad. I never thought I’d end up here or anything.”

“You don’t look much like a warrior, even for a kittypet.” Badgerfang commented. “Did you ever even battle?”

“I held off Firestar’s warriors, once,” he meowed, neglecting to mention that his friend had been there within a few swipes. “I wanted to talk to him.”

“About what?”

“Weird dreams. I was worried I’d have to join ThunderClan. I was never made for this kind of life, honestly.”

“True, but maybe you can find comfort in the afterlife of it.” Tallstar shrugged. “I came to ask if you’d like to learn how to hunt.”

The idea made his belly turn. “I don’t think I’d be very good at it.”

“You don’t have to be. You only have to try.” A proud glow lit up in his eyes. “The greatest rule of the warrior code is you must pull your weight about time you started, Smudge.”

avengers endgame spoiler-filled review

below the cut bc spoilers obviously

even after two viewings this movie is super overwhelming so I’m just gonna jump right in

- clint’s family disappearing was so haunting and traumatic omg

- i didn’t like the music choice over the marvel opening crawl

- nebula was so adorably intense when tony playing footbal with her

- carol is such a bad bitch she just carried an entire fucking ship through space

- steve running up to tony and holding on to him... that was content I didn’t know I needed

- the pepperony hug ughhh I’m not a huge gwenyth paltrow fan but she was so good as pepper in this

- honestly I get tony has been through a lot but he was such a dick back at the avengers compound. I’ve always preferred steve to tony and that scene really displayed why. Yes tony was right something bigger was coming, but his way of going about preventing it was proven wrong both times. I don’t consider ultron to be super canon because joss whedon sucks but tony’s first idea to try and solve it failed, and then the accords also failed and even rhodey regretted it. Infinity war was basically “hey yeah the accords was dumb af and steve was right and now the avengers are scattered.” Both tony and steve were selfish and made mistakes in civil war but the fact that it had been over three years and tony was still soooo angry with steve and holding a grudge just rubbed me the wrong way.

- I really felt for thor when they went to get thanos. Chris hemsworth’s acting in that scene was so good when he realized they had failed

- again who on earth put steve in charge of a support group. And while yes its nice to have some lgbtq representation marvel is way behind on that so to me it did not feel like enough

- paul rudd did so well in this movie and scott is such a good dad ugh

- 10/10 would die for morgan stark. She is soooo cute and it was hilarious when she was like “mom told me to come rescue you”

- i know a lot of people are mad at tony dying bc he could have “retired” but that scene with his daughter before steve, nat, and scott show up shows he could not. He still had a garage where he built iron man suits and suits for pepper. That’s not what someone does when they are out of a fight. That’s why he fell back into it so fast because he never left it. He was still tinkering and preparing and even when he retired he was still fully ready to go back

- i like professor hulk but at the same time i miss bruce

- tony and steve love each other so much it made me so happy when tony showed up at the compound. they’ve had their differences but there is real love there

- speaking of real love I will still never forgive joss whedon for taking clintasha away from us like yes their platonic friendship is great but UGH. They love each other SOOOOOOO much

- tom hiddleston as loki always steals the show and i miss him so much. I was convinced he wasnt dead so I’m sad that he was still dead in the current timeline. But maybe since there is now an alternate dimension with loki and the tesseract he will show up again

- him impersonating steve, his side eye, just... *chefs kiss*

- the america’s ass comment... amazing, iconic, beautiful. And then steve’s “yeah I know” comment to his 2012 self. I’m so glad the russos let steve be funny

- I love how much winter soldier played into this one especially since it was the russo’s first mcu movie. The elevator scene... steve outsmarting the hydra agents. Secretary pierce showing up... and then steve fighting his past self was just *chefs kiss* again. The fact that he knows his own weakness is bucky and uses it against himself

- not excited to see tilda swinton’s character because its just a reminder of marvel’s whitewashing but I appreciated it trying to explain the timeline/dimension stuff

- i also loved that at the army compound tony was able to get closure with his dad, something he deserved for a long time. I think that was another hint he was going to die because his arc was completing while steve’s.... the look on steve’s face when he saw peggy just broke me. absolutely broke me. Steggy was my first ship in the mcu and so steve and peggy hold a special place in my heart. The fact she still keeps the picture of tiny steve after all these years (a reference to agent carter)... they both moved on enough to enjoy life but never truly moved on enough to leave the other behind. And so while tony was getting closure, steve was being reminded of what he wanted most and couldn’t have. I also loved the tie in with agent carter and showing Jarvis this movie was truly a fan service to us all

- okay so rhodey/nebula: so ive never been a huge nebula person but i really liked her in this movie. I loved rhodey’s line about “you work with what you got” as far as their disabilities. I felt so bad for new nebula because old nebula SUCKKSSS and I hate she had to face her. I loved that in this movie thanos was wearing his armor because 2014 thanos was not as strong or secure with himself. His energy was SO different compared to the thanos we saw in infinity war so props to josh brolin

- natasha/clint: Well go ahead and rip my heart out. The audience knows only one of them is coming back but they have no idea. And they love each other SO FUCKING MUCH they both tried to sacrifice themselves to save the other person. That is true love. Jeremy renner is such an underrated actor and his reaction to natasha dying just killed me. But so did scarlett johansson’s acting as much as I hate to admit it because I’ve really stopped liking her as much due to her recent acting choices but she played that scene so well. And I will miss natasha romanoff forever. She deserved so much more and paved the way for all the other female superheroes in the mcu

- everyone crying over nat and especially steve broke me. They had such a special friendship, almost as strong as her and clint and I feel so many people forget that because of how natural they were together. And her last words to him were that she would see him in a minute and then she didn’t come back..

- i just realized i havent talked about thor and thats honestly because my brain blocked it out. I like that they explored his depression but dont like that he was made the joke of the avengers and I don’t think it was handled well. I did enjoy his conversation with frigga and by that I mean it made me cry. (also loki deserves a conversation like that too don’t @ me)

- STEVE WIELDS MJOLNIR!!! IT WAS SO BADASS AND MY DREAM COME TRUE I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE EXCITED IN A MOVIE. To me that was the absolute highlight of the movie

- And then sam says “on your left” and all the characters come and the music... poetic cinema

- thanos is a weak little bitch and as soon as wanda was beating him he was fine with his own troops dying just so he could get away

- TONY AND PETER REUNITING CURED MY DEPRESSION AND THEN GAVE IT RIGHT BACK

- CAROL IS SO POWERFUL MY LESBIAN QUEEN

- sebastian stan has no business looking this good my god

- I forgot how much I missed peter parker

- I didn’t notice mbaku until my second viewing and honestly the wakandan characters were shafted like poor shuri we didn’t even know she was dusted until a few weeks before the movie

- I know everyone loves the scene of all the women characters carrying the gauntlet but honestly marvel has a long way to go before they reach equality and it honestly wasn’t enough for me

- side note pepper fighting back to back with tony was awesome

- ugh tony’s face when he realizes what he has to do and he looks at strange for confirmation... give rdj an oscar like my god. He knows that the past few years have led up to this moment and he is absolutely terrified and determined and I am tearing up while writing this because I am remembering it so vividly

- peter parkers goodbye had me crying why is tom holland such a good actor

- pepper’s goodbye BROKE ME... “you can rest now” I think that is the epitome of tony’s arc. For his entire storyline he has been trying to right his wrongs and save his friends and the world and that is so much for one man to carry on his shoulders and everyone knew it would be the death of him. I know tony stans are pissed off that he died, but I don’t see him just being able to retire. Obviously I didn’t want him to die, but his whole storyline has been leading up to this. He truly got a hero’s sendoff and was solidified as THE hero of the mcu. This era started with him and it ended with him. It was a beautiful sendoff for the character that started it all. And I don’t think rdj would go along with it if he didn’t approve

- Steve’s ending.... so I knew from spoilers what would happen and while it was something I wanted in theory I was pissed when I first found out. But it somehow worked. If you look at steve’s arc, he has always been a man out of time. For everyone getting mad he was hung up on a girl he kissed once, it’s pretty much confirmed in agent carter that he and peggy were on the DL for 3 years. she wasnt just a crush he knew for a few months. They loved each other and fought side by side for three years and time took him too soon. In age of ultron the only part I liked was steve’s vision where he gets a dance with peggy. As much as he moved on in the present, the possibility he missed with her always haunted him. You can tell in peggy’s video in the winter solider that even though she married and had kids, the thought of steve still gets her choked up. When she sees him as an old woman she immediately crumbles. They both have referred to each other as the loves of their lives.

- So with that said, I don’t think it’s weird or out of the blue that he would suddenly decide to try and go back to peggy. They won, bucky is back and safe, sam is back and safe, he can finally rest, and he has the tools to go back in time. The way I interpreted it, Bucky 100% knew what he was going to do. The look on his face, the tone of his voice. He knew Steve was not coming back, and he also knew he deserved to have that happy ending. So while sam and bruce thought it would only be 5 seconds, bucky turned away from the machine, knowing steve wouldn’t show up there. I ship stucky too because I just want steve happy so while at first I was like “how could he leave bucky??” watching it on screen it made sense. Bucky approved of his choice, and while he was saddened by it, he understood it.

- In my interpretation, I don’t think steve stayed in the main timeline. I think him going back created an alternate timeline where he married peggy, dissolved hydra earlier, and freed bucky earlier. At some point, those two timelines merged, and he wandered over to where he knew they would be. OR after peggy died, he used the technology to travel back to that timeline when he was old. Or my friend suggested he could have met tony stark in his alternate timeline and asked for his help. Who knows. He literally came back with a shield, meaning he was at one point captain america again in that timeline. I don’t think there is anyway he could just stay quiet for 70 years about bucky being tortured and peggy running shield that was secretly hydra. I refuse to believe that. If the russos come out and say that’s what he did, then I’ll backtrack and say I don’t approve of steve’s ending. But as of right now I’m okay with it.

Okay. I’ve allowed a night to let everything sink in. I’m ready to talk about Endgame now.

*cinemasins voice* spoilers!! (duh..)

so the wounds are still fresh. v v v v v v v v v fresh. but my thoughts during the entire movie were just OMG IM TRYING TO REMEMBER EVERY SINGLE THING THAT IS HAPPENING SO I CAN REMEMBER IT AS LONG AS POSSIBLE BEFORE i inevitably go see this movie again

This is what the movie reduce me to like 99% of the time btw

now, I’m gonna try and break this up to be as organized as possible into 4 main sections which will be general thoughts, the highs, the lows, and closing thoughts. that may sound organized but I promise it won’t be and as always I’ll have to use bullet holes to even stay relatively "organized"

I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out that I either loved or would wanna discuss but tbh the ENTIRE FILM i was just like GOD I WANNA REMEMBER THIS FOREVER!! Every scene that happened i was like god there's still 3 hours of stuff that's going to happen but I want to remember it all!!!

Overall

this movie was good. and i’m mad it was so good and i found it so enjoyable for how dirty they did me. The pacing was pretty well done for a first viewing, but I'm sure after a couple rewatches I'll get caught up on the occasional misstep in the pacing and general direction the story took, but I really liked it!!

I thought the Thor stuff was kinda distasteful and honestly a joke that ran too long. Like ha ha okay we get it but also? He went through so much fucking trauma can we just lay off him? Damn? I don't wanna linger too much on it bc honestly the more I think about it the more I get upset the russos did him dirty

all the callbacks??? made me so emotional????? eleven years and almost two dozen films guys holy fucking shit it felt like such a good homage to bring stuff back

Yo literally when they went up to busted ass thanos i leaned over to my bf and whispered "are they just gonna kill thanos in the first ten minutes is that allowed" and uh YEP! WOW

Also the opening scene being Clint's family getting dusted... gasps in my theater y'all they went in hard on us

TIME HEIST!!!!!! FUCK marvel knows how to take you on a fun journey!! The concept was so fun!!

I also appreciate them mixing up the plot a bunch to keep us guessing!! Like fuck, when Thanos was finding out through Nebula... future nebula talking to past gamora i was SO SOFT... sisters...

Hulk was... weird. It felt a weird kind of fanservicey for a little bit, and honestly a little out of place? But. Eh. Wasn't the worst part. Certain parts of it were fun! I think I got used to it haha

Everyone looked. So good. After the time jump. Damn. Thank you make up department for everyone's new looks. I live for silver fox tony always.

I loved seeing Loki again i know it was so little content BUT I DONT CARE I'LL ALWAYS LOVE MY FUCKING PRINCE

We didn't get as much Nebula and Tony content as I was hoping but god it was so cute and tender in the beginning. Imagine all that bonding. Nebula finding tony on the floor, knowing he's on the brink of death, and propping him up in the seat :'(((( tony helping fix nebula :(((( the father daughter relationship we deserved and didn't get to see come to fruition.

All the New York flash back was so fucking fun. The elevator scene. Brilliant. I really thought they were gonna recreate but it was such a fun tease. Also cap making fun of his past self for saying "i could do this all day" I SCREAM why do the Russo's get steve so well

Carol taking a direct punch in the face from Thanos without even flinching? We stan a goddess

ALSO SHORT HAIRED CAROL YESSSS I LIVED!!!!! YES!!!! (But also that movie could've used like way more Carol thats just mY OPINION)

Also AGAIN, I DON'T CARE THAT IT WAS FAN SERVICE, STEVE WEILDING MJOLNIR WAS E V E R Y T H I N G. They have TEASED US since that one middle avengers movie we don't talk about that he was worthy and!!! Our!! Son!! Is!! Fucking!!! Worthy. And the scene of thor making him swap w/ him "you get the little one" i screamed bitch

also I was living for how much Steve swore in this film lol literally fuck joss Whedon's characterization we don't know her!

That entire final action scene..... holy fucking shit y'all. It was just crazy enough without being too crazy. I loved the callback to the original long continuous shot

THE HEAVENS OPENED UP AND SANG WITH THAT A-FORCE SCENE. YES. ALL THE MARVEL LADIES LINING UP. THEY ARE HERE AND THEY ARE THE STRONGEST OF US ALL. A-FORCE. FUCKING A-FORCE. Thank you Russo's for my LIFE

Carol's little "hi peter parker :)" god i love them. I love peter. My fucking spider son. I missed him so much. I missed Tom Holland's sweet peach little face AH I CRIED WHEN HE SHOWED BACK UP

Also last kind of ~general~ thought i know i don't get time travel at all and it is an instant way to confuse me in any franchise but wouldn't steve doing what he did fuck literally everything up idk we'll get to steve in a bit

FUCKS. im getting off topic anyway i was just happy they brought him back because I am an iron man 3 enthusiast and his relationship with tony was SO important and this confirms that at the very least tony kept in contact with him over all these years!!! and he wasn’t just some insignificant blip

I appreciated the closure with Howard like?? A lot?? I'm the last person to be a Howard stark apologist, but I think his character and his relationship w/ Tony and how Tony viewed him as a father and as a man was so well crafted throughout the series??? Idk I liked that scene it was good to my baby.

And now a pOSSIBLY CONTROVERSIAL~~ opinion but..... I loved Steve's ending. I really did. I thought he got a beautiful and fitting ending and I was so happy. It meant so much especially to hear his reasonging being that in a way, he did it for Tony. He was inspired by what Tony told him. He saw Tony get his happy ending and for so many films now Steve has been searching for that and he missed an entire life. Tony helped him realize that. It just made me!! So emo!! Like Bucky's face when he knew Steve wasn't gonna be coming back. Steve's last convo w/ Sam. It was just amazing. I can't believe I'm seeing hot takes from people calling Steve selfish or blaming the fact that the Russos have a boner for Steggy or whatever. Who cares!!! Steve got his happy ending and it was well deserved and a wonderful arc!! Lay off him bc you ship him w/ Bucky or tony more damn!!!! (Idk about the timeline y'all dont come for me i really have no idea i think the Russos just said fuck it for that one even when talking about not fucking up the timeline)

Lows

Natasha deserved better. She did. I understand why they took her character arc the way that they did, and honestly, this is the first time I've felt we've seen Natasha have even a modicum of actual character traits since like, Iron man 2 and Avengers 1. She found purpose in keeping the family together and trying to help the people left living, while never stopping or losing contact with anyone else in their endeavors to fix what Thanos broke. As tired as I am of seeing a female character die for ~man pain~ this felt like so much more than that. In the end Nat wanted to sacrifice herself for the greater good, and that's what she did. I'm still fucking upset though, even though they've butchered her character across almost all the films she's been in

Thor being turned into an entire fucking joke. That's it. I got nothin left for the writers at this point.

So..... let's talk about Tony's death, shall we

"You can rest now" broke me. It truly did. I've never loved any fictional character across any medium as much as I have loved Tony Stark. But Pepper's line at the beginning "you'll sleep, but will you rest?" Is so fucking telling. I think I immediately knew for sure in that moment. Because she's right. And that's the worst part.

Peter :)))) finally :)))) calling :))))) tony :)))) by :)) his :)))) first :)) name :))) as he was dying :)))) asking him not to go the same way he told tony he didn't want to go when he was getting dusted GOD. AND WE THOUGHT THAT SCENE IN INFINITY WAR WAS ROUGH. HAD N O T H I N G ON THIS.

That funeral scene.... seeing everyone there drawn together..... god. It was beautiful. It really was.

Of course I'm not happy. I'm extremely fucking upset. I knew tony wielding the gauntlet would be coming, but I thought they would find a way for him to make it out alive. As soon as they were showing that even the hulk couldn't handle it with the gamma radiation, I knew the nail was going to be in the coffin.

All that aside... what I can say, is that if they HAD to kill him off, I think it was a proper send off. We saw so many arcs of Tony's come to a close, and I knew it was just a matter of time. Also that being said, I really don't believe in death being necessary to end a character's arc. Yeah yeah blah blah we get the sad and tragic but TRUE message that at the end of the day death is inevitable and that tony had to sacrifice himself for the greater good. He and Strange both knew it, and as soon as Strange held up that finger I knew that was it for him.

It wouldn't be so hard if they hadn't given us everything they did with tony after the 5 year jump. He healed. He was HAPPY. But pepper was right, and as long as Tony was alive... he would never truly /rest/. And that's the only way I'm able to make peace with this death. Tony has always been a character who was just going going going, never going to stop even if it killed him, all to protect the ones he loved, and protect the whole world and make it a better place. He had a beautiful story that was told so well over these past eleven years, with admitted shortcomings here and there. He had the most cohesive trilogy films, the best character development and arcs, and an incredible portrayal. I'm grateful for it, but that doesn't make it any easier that they decided to go and show us that Tony was able to FINALLY settle down with Pepper and see him find the best version of himself as a husband to her and a father to his little baby girl. A baby girl that now has to grow up without her dad, and pepper has to go on without her husband, the love of her life. It's fucking tragic and honestly, we didn't need that imho lmao

The hardest parts is that like.... idk. I feel like the only reason they killed him is for shock factor, but somehow without the shock? A lot of us felt or were worried that this was coming. I think the russos and co. We're just totally set on the idea that like... tony HAD to die and that was the only way for this arc to come to a close not just WITHIN the universe, but meta, outside of the MCU as well. They did the same thing with Hugh jackman as Logan and that shit HURTED me y'all. Eleven years we had RDJ give us this amazing character and he is the SOLE reason the MCU is where it is today. So you know what, the Russo's and everyone can circle jerk about how much ~poetic justice~ there is in this ending for Tony, but at the end of the day... it just ain't it fam.

Realistically I know after wielding the infinity stones there is no way Tony, a human, could've survived, even with his armor on. I knew that. And as biased as I am towards seeing Tony living, if he had wielded the stones and NOT died? It would've felt cheap. So again, if they had to end his life, I appreciate the way they did it and thought it was the best send off they could've given him. I also would've appreciated some kind of alternate option where oh i dont know carol or someone strong enough could've handled the snap and tony could live the rest of his days with his wife and daughter and found family but..... ig that's just me huh.

:(((( Happy asking Morgan what she wanted and her saying "cheeseburgers" SHE'S JUST LIKE HER DADDY I AM SO!!! UPSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And last thought is that I fucking cried AGAIN because the biggest applause moment was during the credits when RDJ's name appeared. My theater gave a standing damn ovation. Also the very last sound after it faded to black... Tony hammering away, building the very first Iron Man suit.... that shit hurted.

I can't believe some people are getting angry at Tom over his dog. Because he's shared the dogs name in casual conversation but not with a blatant fan who's paid to meet him? Sorry, is he not allowed to talk to people at the park or tube like a normal person? People saying"well he told us the dogs name" no, he told people in everyday conversation. Whatever he does some fans call him a hypocrite.

Thanks to the dog anon for clearing up some things. Makes sense that Tom wasn't so forthcoming with answering questions about Bobby in Chicago when he knows the fan knows Bobby's name already. As the anon said, that's disingenuous. Also, great reasoning for why Tom would be fine talking about Bobby to strangers he meets versus confirming info to fans that they would have only known through online gossip or pap pics. The first one is his choice, the second one isn't.

O lord dam if he does dam if he doesn’t. I’m hoping he doesn’t post pictures of his dog. It was cute with CE in the beginning but then it was like yeah ok. I’m not so bothered with Tom not using his SM bc when does surprise us it’s like all my Christmas’s have come at once. Will probably get more once he’s back at work.

I think Tom is a naturally friendly person but also wary of fans and media spreading things. I'm not surprised the two things conflict and seem "hypocritical" - it must be difficult enough from his POV to be able to act like a normal person but also keep aware of things going too far. I mostly feel bad for him, not angry and offended like a baby.

His dog's name is all over internet only because he has talked about it with strangers and revealed the name to the random people - - - - > no, his dogs name is all over the Internet because that woman stalked him, acted friendly, then chose to publicise the info. Arguably he could be "more careful" but you can't blame him for being polite and sociable in a non-fan environment. Honestly, I think some of this anger is because it puts the spotlight on us fans doing things he's not 100% okay with.

What did I completely miss here? Has Tom been rude or not wanting to talk about bobby, like what is all this about and I can’t seem to find the original source on your blog?!

First of: where’s that story where someone said he showed her pictures of himself and bobby from his phone? And second: Tom is not being weird for not wanting to talk about his dog. He was the same way about TS. He want to keep it private but he also has said before that he lives his life like any other person, and just hopefully people respect his privacy. Which they don’t, and then I can understand why he would be a little off. If he even was.

Thanks to the anon who explained the conversation. I didn't feel personally insulted, I felt like he blames his fans and I do find that act wrong. It is my opinion. I became his fan after Ragnarok and it is weird what he has done before (2017) and what he is doing right now. Of course people will say it is because of "only" fans and media again but I don't feel in that way.

Why are people so obsessed with Tom's dog and his take on the whole matter is beyond me. But I'm the weird one, I guess. I don't obsess over my faves private life. I think, once again, this attitude is what makes him retreat and not share anything anymore. One more thing, are you going to leave tumblr or will you use both blogs? Thanks.

About Tom not sharing things or talking to strangers about some things and not doing the same with fans in context like the cons, it's not lack of consistency imo, it's where this stalkerish attitude many fans show has lead him (using the dog as a deflection for the new album made me roll my eyes). I would act exactly the same. We are having what we deserve, given how we treated him.

OK, last (second-last) dog post - and these are the comments from all sides, I think.

The story was an IG post after the BFI event, where an (apparent) Swifty was talking about how she had a long chat with him and he showed her pics on the phone.

And yes, I agree it’s absolutely different talking to a random person in the park (who may or may not be a slight fan), and giving info at a con, where there are thousands of people lined up, who will all want the same thing. Again, I mentioned the interview from 2016 where one guy wanted a selfie, and he said he couldn’t just take one, as there was a whole lineup of people there he’d said no to. It’s kind of an extension of that - 1 or 2 people at an event is different from tons in a time-constrained lineup. Hope that makes sense. It would also seem incredibly rude if he refused to talk to a person in the park/on the tube, etc.

And I will probably be using both - I’m still working on getting the other set up to my satisfaction (which will be never, but whatever).

Hello!!! I have another week off so I’m kinda taking it easy since school has been really tough lately. I’ll try and post as often as I can. Oh, and also I really want to thank everyone because I know I haven’t been so active lately and instead of losing followers like I expected I would, I’m actually gaining them and honestly, thank you all so much!!! I hope you like this one! xx

Your first big break, so to speak, and it was going to be on what was predicted to be this year’s biggest superhero film,

Spider-man: Homecoming.

It was luck, or divine intervention, or good karma, or whatever the hell you wanted to call it. Imagine it though, you had auditioned so many times, along with hundreds of different, more qualified people but you were the one who got a call back and you were casted!

Being a huge fan of both the comics and the cinematic universe, it was such an honour to get any role on this film. You were cast as Betty Brant, one of Midtown Tech’s smartest, most popular girls and best friends with Liz Allen, Peter Parker’s love interest. Although you didn’t have as many lines or scenes as you would have liked, you were beyond grateful and excited for everything to happen.

It was only a few days since filming officially started but a bond was immediately formed between everyone, the importance of everyone’s roles or how big of a star they were didn't matter. You were all just kids having an extraordinary time.

On one of your lunch breaks, you found yourself huddled in your trailer that you shared with another actress on the film who played one of the decathlon kids, but since she had a scene to shoot, you were left to your own devices.

You were supposed to be memorising your lines for later but the film playing on TV won your attention.

With your knees hugged close to your chest, tears dropped onto the blanket you had draped over yourself. You just couldn't wrap your head around the concept of why there were some films that revolved around dogs or any other animals dying.

Marley and Me was one such film. Onscreen, Owen Wilson’s family were beginning to say their goodbyes to their beloved Labrador and at that point you were already desperately trying to keep the tears at bay.

“Good bye, clearance puppy.” Jennifer Aniston tearfully uttered

With that, you were a goner.

The overflowing dam of tears you’d worked so hard to hold together finally broke wide open, unleashing streaks of white hot tears upon your red cheeks.

“Stupid, stupid film.” you muttered, wiping at the corners of your eyes angrily

Unbeknownst to you, the door to trailer was slightly ajar, with one Harry Holland sneakily snapping pictures of you while you cried with everything you had. Without your consent, he posted the photo on his Instagram for his thousands of followers to see.

“Didn’t know she was a weeper.” Harry captioned the photo and immediately tucked his phone back into his pocket

“Y/N?” he proceeded to knock, feigning innocence

The credits have been rolling for a good five minutes but you were still in tears and you just let them roll down your cheeks. You didn’t have to hide from Harry. The two of you became best buds in such a short time, since you were both around the same age.

As he approached you, he started to feel a little bad about posting your picture, but that didn’t mean he was going to fess up right then. He took the seat next to you and offered you his jacket sleeve to blow your nose on. If it were any other day, you would’ve given him a funny look, why would he want your snot all over his sleeve?

But since you were highly emotional and Harry was feeling guilty, you took his sleeve and he let you. You blew your nose, hard, complete with comical honking noises. Harry winced but said nothing, he turned his attention to the TV still rolling credits.

“I'm guessing that's what got you crying?” he asked, wondering what film it could've been

“It was a horrible film, Harry. Like…” you trailed off, grabbing his sleeve once again

He recoiled from your grabby hands and took his jacket off, handing it to you with a sheepish smile.

“And what film would that be, love?”

“Marley and Me.” you replied, blowing your nose again

Harry tried, I mean he really tried not laugh but it failed miserably. He let out a big laugh that was short-lived once he saw the expression on your face, that’s when he thought it wise to shut his mouth.

“Thought so.” you muttered, grabbing your phone to raise it to your face so you could see the damage done

Harry felt his heart rate pick up. All of a sudden he didn’t want you to see what he did, because he had a feeling you wouldn’t be laughing with him.

As if God had tuned in directly to his line of thought, he heard you say,

“Shit. My phone’s dead.”

You rushed out of your seat to plug your phone in, also catching a glimpse at the wall clock.

“Shit! Harry, I’ve gotta get to hair and make-up. I’ll catch up with you later.”

The door shut behind you and Harry breathed out a sigh of relief, he definitely had to take that picture down before you saw it. And that’s what he did, he took the picture down in seconds, it only lasted on his page for a solid twenty minutes.

But, alas, this was the internet and twenty minutes was just enough for everyone to see it and give out their opinions that no one asked for. It’s just a shame that Harry kept his phone too quickly, not even stopping to check on the numerous notifications that popped up since he posted your picture.

That wasn’t the issue though, the problem was what was on your phone, Harry glanced at it as it harmlessly rested on one of the counters. He didn’t have the chance to check on it as Tom walked inside the trailer.

“Y/N told me I’d find you here.” Tom smirked, crossing his arms over his chest

That snarky look on his older brother’s face would’ve ticked him off if he wasn’t so distracted.

“What?” Harry asked, trying to get around to your phone. Tom immediately noticed this.

“Oh, oh, hey.” Tom swung around and swiftly grabbed your phone, out of Harry’s reach

“Rule number one, mate. Never touch a girl’s phone without her permission.” he held your phone behind his back, expertly dodging his younger brother’s attempt at snatching it away

“Tom, wait-”

“You just leave it alone. Now come on. I need something to eat, catering’s down.” Tom grabbed Harry by the shoulders and steered him out your trailer door, despite his blubbering protests.

Harry gave your phone one last hopeless look before heading out with his annoying older brother.

“Y/N! That was great! Thank you, I think you’re done for the day.”

You gave Laura and Jon a hug before dutifully retiring to your trailer. Maybe one of the upsides to having a small role was that you got to head home before everyone else, actually, scratch that, it was definitely one of the upsides. Tom was always whining like the boy man child he was, about how exhausted the whole thing was for him.

You stretched your arms above your head as you walked through the lot, wondering what the rest of the day had in store for you. Your trailer was just how you left it earlier, your phone was still plugged into the socket.

You were just about to turn it back on when Harry came bursting through the door.

“Y/N!” he exclaimed, like he’d just caught you with your hand in the cookie jar

“Well, hello to you too, Harry.” you greeted him, regarding him cautiously. He looked a little shaken up.

Harry took a step towards you as you placed your finger on your phone’s power button, you eyed him warily. Just to test your theory, you lifted your finger from the button and placed it back, making him take another step towards you.

“Okay. What’s going on here?”

“Nothing! Nothing! What’s going on, Y/N?”

“What?”

The two of you shared confused looks then you burst out laughing.

“Harry, you are so weird!” you told him, finally powering on your phone

“Wait, Y/N. Uh, maybe-”

You held up a finger to silence him as you began to scroll through your hundreds of Instagram notifications. It was strange, you’ve never gotten this many in like, ever. Maybe you did, once when you posted that selfie with Zendaya and Tom the very first day of filming but that was a few days ago, what could all this be about?

Reading each comment carefully, you were shocked to see so many people you didn’t know saying such hurtful things about you. Most of them didn’t make any sense but the ones that did and the ones that were very eloquent in stating their hatred for you brought tears to your eyes.

Harry audibly gulped, he wrung his hands together in an attempt to curb his discomfort.

“What, what is this?” you shakily muttered, sniffling as you quickly swiped down, trying to get to the photo that everyone was hating on you for.

When you finally got to the top, you were shocked to see a picture from earlier today, with you sitting on your trailer couch, bawling your eyes out in front of the TV. You slowly lifted your gaze to Harry, and your eyes began to burn with anger.

“Why would you post this?!” you yelled, thrusting your phone towards him

He didn’t get the chance to pry it out of your hands as you began scrolling through the comments again.

“I took it down, Y/N. I’m sure I did.” Harry said in his defense

“‘What right does she have to be crying like that when she gets to hang out with Tom and Harry. What an ungrateful bitch.’” you read out one of the comments for Harry to hear

“‘What an ugly dumb ass hoe’?” your voice rose an octave higher. You just could not for the life of you find out why these people were being so cruel.

“Please just stop reading, Y/N. I don’t want to hear any more.” Harry said, running a hand down his face

“You don’t want to hear it anymore?!”

The fucking nerve of him to say that! This was his doing! This was his idiocy at work!

“Why the hell would you even do this, Harry?! I just, I don’t get it!” you yelled, tightening your grip on your phone, you wanted to chuck it at him

Harry was at a loss. He couldn’t muster up the courage to answer your questions, mostly because he didn’t really have a good reason. He just wanted to have a bit of fun with you, it just.. Backfired. Horribly.

“I am really sorry, Y/N. I am so so sorry. I didn’t know people were going to react like this. Y/N, please, I am so sorry. I-”

“Leave.” you cut him off, feeling like you were going to lose your head if he didn’t leave you alone.

“Y/N, come on. Just-”

“Harry, please go. Now.”

The steely look in your eyes made his heart plummet to the floor as he began to walk to the door. Harry had to do what you said. It was all his fault, it was the least he could do now. He stepped out into the bright afternoon, and he bumped right into Tom.

“What have you gone and done now, Harry?” Tom asked, scrolling down on his phone. Looking at all the hate you got, no doubt.

“Not now, Tom.” Harry grumbled, leaning against the walls of your trailer

Tom looked at his brother incredulously, “You’re bloody right, not now, you arse. Get in there and apologise!”

“She doesn’t want to see me.”

“Well, I don’t blame her! What the fuck were you thinking posting her picture like that?”

Harry definitely wasn’t feeling the big brother hat Tom was wearing right now. He knew he was in deep shit with you and he knew he needed to apologise.

“I wasn’t thinking! Alright! That’s what you want to hear and that’s the fucking truth. I’m an arse, I know!” he snapped, rubbing his temples

“Right. Well, it’s good that you know. Now go and do something about it. Apologise.” Tom yanked your trailer door open and shoved Harry inside

You heard a dull thud from where you stood inside the bathroom. You ignored it and clutched the edge of the sink tightly, knuckles almost turning white.

“Deep breaths, deep breaths.” you chanted to yourself, trying to hold yourself together

It wasn’t very helpful though. Tears were still making their way down your cheeks, you really wished that you hadn’t read all of those comments. You really fucking wished Harry wasn’t such an idiot.

“Y/N?”

Speak of the camera-wielding devil. A tired sigh left your lips as you turned to face him, you kept one hand on the sink for support.

“Didn’t I tell you to leave?”

Guilt once again knocked into Harry’s senses, stronger this time. The skin near your eyes was red from how harshly you had wiped your tears away but more was still coming. Harry cleared his throat and tried his best to efficiently verbalise what he needed to say.

“You did but I need to apologise, Y/N. What I did was stupid, and insensitive, and senseless. And I’m an idiot.” he hastily added that last part

You definitely agreed with him, nodding your head for him to continue.

“I’m sorry, Y/N. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I never want to hurt you. Please forgive me. I’ll get down on my knees if it would make you feel better.” Harry pleaded with you, his eyes desperately searching yours for any sign of forgiveness

You regarded him apprehensively. The whole thing really brought you down, even though it was ridiculous to listen to the famed “keyboard warriors.” You were new at this, and it was going to take some time for you to fully get over your so-called “haters.”

“Help me to the couch please? I’m feeling shaky.” you extended your hand out to him without letting go of the sink

Harry took your hand in his and his gentle touch brought a sense of calm to you, even though he was the root of all of this. He guided you gently to the couch and draped a blanket over you.

“May I?” he asked, gesturing to the space next to you

“Sure.”

As he sat down, you found yourself inching toward the heat that radiated off him, all the crying made you cold somehow.

“May I?” Harry asked again, extending his arms towards you

The fucker was being too cute. You rolled your eyes at him but nodded anyway and it turned out to be the right call. Warmth began to seep through your body and you nuzzled your head into his chest appreciatively.

“I’m really sorry, okay? I will never ever do that ever again.” Harry whispered to you, running his fingers along the length of your back

“The only pictures you’re posting of me next time are extremely flattering selfies, do you understand me?” you looked up at him pointedly

Harry nodded earnestly and placed a quick kiss on the tip of your nose, much to your surprise. You stared at him in shock but he just smiled at you cheekily.

“Yes, ma’am.”
