Hyello! I'm not sure who else to ask and I admire your work so here goes, Is there any possibility a Ren Faire would hire a full time librarian with an enthusiasm for performance? As long as I'd have weekends off for the faire's season? I know you can't speak to every Ren Faire but I'd like to gauge some feedback from those who've worked Faire's before to see if it's even doable before I contact anyone. Feel free to answer or not to answer! Have a great day! :)
Hey there - hope you don't mind me publishing as I think it may be of interest to other people. General cast at most RenFaires are volunteers. It's more like community theater than anything else. So, are you a warm body with enthusiasm who wants to try and perform at a RenFaire? Odds are good they'll take you! Follow your local festival's page and look out for audition notices MONTHS before the faire is due to open.
Are you looking to get paid? That's a whole 'nother banana. Best way to start is in whatever general cast they have. Work your way up to a paid position (some street cast / characters get stipends to perform at certain faires or develop acts that become worth money to the faire to retain).
Alternatively, you can look for other paid positions - working games, food, or other vendor positions. That'll get you into the atmosphere while still making money and may help you make connections for other opportunities. My personal RenFest journey looked a bit like this: Worked for games throughout high school / college. -> Auditioned for a local cast -> got hired with a stipend (due to audition + distance from the faire) -> developed a stage show & auditioned with it -> got hired with low pay + tips -> pitched to other festivals while developing the act -> got hired with pay increases, went full time on the road
Not going to go into the whole can of worms that was working on the road full time, but as a weekend gig, it's pretty great. Just know it's most likely to be an unpaid donation of your time and energy for at least the first few years if not forever.
(also thank you!)

Anyway I’m a clown because this is how I chose to costume myself as a female Orc for a renfaire
In my defense, it was nearly 100 degrees out and being sexy is fun

I think the funniest competition I’ve ever won was a kids’ costume contest at a huge Renaissance Faire. There were 40 other children and I won for being a little freak

A page from my travel journal.
We went to the Tennessee Renaissance Faire the week after our dog Arwen passed away. It was so nice to be around fairies and knights and princesses and plague doctors.
I wish I could live there.

🔥Firespinner!Crowley🔥 for @cemeteryangel725's RenFaire AU, Of Fire and Falcons (Rated E, mind the tags)
This is probably my favorite Crowley I've painted so far. I had SO MUCH FUN designing his tattoos for this piece. Please enjoy them in the detail shots.

Happy Faire Friday!
Taking a break from this cold weather to reminisce about warmer times at faire with @unicorn-shieldmaiden.
The sun was so intense that day, but thankfully we had some watery wenches to douse us off afterwards. lol
A huge thank you to Liv F.H. for capturing these moments. 💗

Of Fire and Falcons: A Good Omens Renaissance Faire AU by CemeteryAngel725
Tumblr media
Thank you so much to @quona for the amazing art bringing these characters to life!
Rated E, 54,201 words
Read on AO3 here!
Summary:
Since they met at a Florida Renaissance faire a year and a half ago, fire spinner Crowley and falconer Aziraphale have been a great deal more than friends, but they've never quite admitted what they really feel about each other. Now Crowley has fallen in love, and he has five weeks at the Catskill Mountains Renaissance Faire during the most romantic season of the year to convince Aziraphale to see the light.
Excerpt:
Later that evening, Crowley was back at the campground, spinning his LED poi among the other dancers next to the fire, the sounds of drumming all around them. He had discarded his shirt long ago, and he was in his element, the energy of the night flowing through him and the warm firelight on his skin. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a flash of blond curls, a pair of bright eyes watching his every move. He slung his poi over his shoulder and sauntered over.
“Evening, Aziraphale,” he drawled. “You know, you look like an angel in this light, with your fluffy little halo. Have you come down here to keep all of us demons in line?”
“Hush, you.” Aziraphale dragged his eyes down Crowley’s torso, a little sigh escaping his lips. Crowley knew he looked good, and he shivered a little under the appreciative gaze. “Besides, you’re hardly a demon.”
“Oh, really? What am I, then?” Crowley stepped a little closer, leaving barely a foot of space between them.
“Something rather delectable, I think.” Aziraphale placed a hand on Crowley’s chest and ran it upward, over his shoulder and around the back of his neck. Threading his fingers through the red hair, he pulled Crowley down into a kiss, right there in the firelight, amid the noise and bustle of the post-faire party.
Special thanks to everyone over at @goodomensafterdark for all the support!
