Friends- Next week @krakatoakatie and I will be launching a fundraiser to support the camps at Standing Rock. Katie has made some beautiful hand painted necklaces and I made linoleum block patches of Stephanie Big Eagle's thunderbird design. Stay tuned for more details next week.
Katie (http://katiemakesart.com) and I made some rad Bowie saint candles and arranged an altar for the David Bowie memorial party she’s hosting. Now we’re going to watch Labyrinth!
There's a starman waiting in the sky
He'd like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds
I have been nothing less than heartbroken for the last three days. David Bowie has been a constant in my life, from the days when I was too young to remember sitting in the back seat and singing Man Who Sold the World, to polishing off my mom’s old Aladdin Sane record in high school, to forcing my college roommates to watch Labyrinth. Since Monday I have been taking the time to go back and listen to his music catalog chronologically, which I have never done before. It is mind blowing to hear how he reinvented himself again and again on each record. I have the utmost respect for Mr. Bowie, for his art, and for his incredible work up until the very end. Rest in peace.
