I thoroughly enjoyed The Final Empire. Work has been incredibly hectic this week so to forget it all after a long day and escape into The Final Empire has been nothing short of a privilege.

I am starting out with a series I have wanted to read for a long long time - Mistborn. And so, the first book of this challenge will be The Final Empire. Super excited!

Upcoming changes to this studyblr

Happy New Year everyone!

I started this tumblr last year as a place to record my learning journey. My posting fell off a cliff after September as I had to travel a lot for my job (consulting sucks in that regard) and life in general was very hectic.

This year, I am hoping the travel will be less and I am also planning on making more posts as I have already put together a learning plan for 2023.

Lastly, I am doing the 52 book challenge this year as well as learning Japanese and so this place is going to become a combination of studyblr, bookblr and langblr. I will also be making a studygram which I will go into in detail in a post.

Day 11/30 of the 5:30am challenge

I woke up at 5:25 am today, right before the alarm rang at 5:30. Anyways, had a really productive weekend. Studied statistics, logic and also prepared next week's bujo spread.

Along with logic, I am thinking of starting formal study of philosophy. Not back to college, but from basic textbooks and working my way up. Stanford encyclopedia of philosophy is a reference material I am aware of but I have no idea where to start otherwise.

Folks who studied/study philosophy please suggest an approach and where I should start.

Day 7/30 of the 5:30am challenge

Well, it's been a while. Work has been pandemonium the past week, I have been deployed on two (two?!) projects at the same time. I have been pulling 12 hr days all week, the only respite I get is the peaceful 3 hours in the morning when there is no one but the birds to keep me company.

I am still covering statistics - tomorrow I start probability.

The other news is that my book arrived today! I have read a couple of chapters already and it's super interesting.

Anyway, only two days to go to the weekend.

September 3 - Saturday

Day 3/30 of 5:30am challenge

My new digital clock arrived yesterday! Looks really cool too. I clicked that photo in the dark right after I got up so the quality is even more terrible than it usually is.

Anyway, today is Saturday and I have had a really productive morning. Studied some statistics, then meditated and went for a walk. I am currently listening to the Hellinistic Age episode of Philosophize this podcast and a line from Epicuris (I don't know if I am spelling that right) really stuck out to me.

"Pleasure is the absence of pain"

Really felt that one.

5:30 am challenge Day 2/30 :

What a day it's been, holy shit. Work ramped up so much that I didn't even get time to eat lunch today.

Got up at 5:33am though, and completed some material on finance.

Day 1/30 of the 5:30am challenge

I am going ahead with the 5:30am challenge for September.

Today I woke up at 5:20am, completed a lecture on statistics, went for a walk, listened to an episode of the Philosophize this podcast, meditated and completed a module of my assigned trainings. Super productive day so far.

Yesterday was really productive as well, though I notice that when I get up so early, I start to lose steam around 3-4pm and cannot get much done after that. So that's something to work on.

I got up at 5:30am again today! Yesterday was so massively productive - I completed a two hour module on PowerBI in addition to the statistics studying I did in the morning. I also completed several admin tasks that were pending so now I no longer have those hanging over my head.

Anyway, today I am back to studying stats currently and working through Prof Leonard's playlist on YouTube. Today I need to decide my goals for the next month and flesh out the framework in my bujo.

I did get up at 5:30 am today. Working through ISLR currently and pausing as and when required to brush up a basic statistics concept as it comes up.

The silence is amazing for studying.

The past week was really messed up which is why there wasn't a post (and why I am up at 5:30 am today)

I was planning to wake up at 5:30 am everyday and make it a 30-day challenge of sorts for September, dunno if I will go through with that since I have never done a challenge like this before and consistency isn't my strong suit.

August 22, 2022 - Monday

My notes on Introduction to Statistical Learning in R. One thing I realised after starting ISLR is that I need to revise basic stats again. And I don't have the time😭 I will have to cram that in somewhere.

On the plus side, studying from a hard copy is so much easier!

This week's podcast: Philosophise this! Target is to complete up to episode 11. Let's see how that goes.

PS: My handwriting changes depending on my mood, the pen I am using, the weather, the time of the year, which table I am sitting on etc. etc. Hence the slanted scrawl

Quite a productive day today.

Started a bootcamp for SQL - I had been meaning to get round to it for the past week but never quite managed to find the time. SQL is fun! I liked it so far.

Also, I have been becoming interested in philosophy more and more so I finally started reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. Quite intense. I have never read philosophy before so really looking forward to that

Hello everyone!

I am imjustheretolearn81 and I am going to use this space to record my progress across the many learning journeys that I plan on undertaking.
