GAS Presents - "CHALLENGE OF THE AMALGAM SUPERFRIENDS" - Original Hero and Villain Character Art Mash Ups
All of My Marvel and DC Comics Original Amalgam Heroes and Villains - Drawings, Bios, and Videos.
25 years ago, Marvel and DC did an epic crossover event that led to the creation of Amalgam Comics. A short lived brand of one shots where characters from DC and Marvel were merged together to form an all new hero. (ie: Superman & Captain America merged became Super Soldier, Batman & Wolverine became Dark Claw, etc.) In keeping with that theme, and in honor of the 25 year anniversary of the…

WHO WANTS TO BE A SUPERHERO?
WHO WANTS TO BE A SUPERHERO?
Last year was a difficult one for me. I found myself kinda depressed and not really doing much by way art projects. When the new year rolled in, I wanted to change that around and get back to doing something I love that I’ve ignored for too long. So, I’ve started a fun new project to get me back into the swing of things. I’m designing all NEW original superheroes! I wanted this project to be way…

ODE OF A HORROR FAN - POEM and HORROR VIDEOS
ODE OF A HORROR FAN – POEM and HORROR VIDEOS
Hello Peeps! What a summer that was huh? Well, My Favorite Time of Year starts ramping up now…Halloween!! I love horror all year round, but I love it even more once October rolls around! I watch tons of horror movies, and draw up some horror themed pictures. To get into the evil spirit of the season, I’ve plucked some of my Horror-Fueled fan-made videos, and poetic ode to horror, from the…

OP/ED - What The Hell Happened?
OP/ED – What The Hell Happened?
“What Woman Want” (2000)
Last night I watched this mind reading Rom-Com from the Millennium right now on AMC. Stars Oscar Winner Mel Gibson and Oscar Winner Helen Hunt – about a womanizing chauvinistic pompous ad man accidentally getting the ability to read women’s minds, right at a time when he is about to be overshadowed by a new firecracker female Boss hired to bring in more business for…

"Another Face in the Crowd"
“Another Face in the Crowd”
“Another Face in the Crowd” by Gerry Albert This is my latest art piece, a digital illustration I like to call “Another Face in the Crowd”. The genesis of this idea, is essentially that I really like drawing different kinds of faces and facial expressions. This probably stems from my childhood affinity towards comic book artist Kevin Maguire’s talented approach at perfectly conveying facial…

Decoupage Project – “Horror Film Collage on Canvas” – My Daughter the Model
When I was photographing my latest Art Piece – my daughter Kenleigh insisted on Modelling it.
Decoupage Project – “Horror Film Collage on Canvas” – Starting with a Dry Layout
The art piece is a Decoupage on Canvas Horror Film Collage. Kenleigh helped a little bit with painting the poly glue on and setting some images onto the canvas. The strips are paper “filmstrip collages”, which I’ve previously designed for my former horror blog, all lined up as the background. Once I laid out the look I wanted, it was time for the polyglue.
Decoupage Project – “Horror Film Collage on Canvas” – Pasting First Layer
Decoupage Project – “Horror Film Collage on Canvas” – Pasting Second Layer
Once the first layer has been applied, I pasted several horror movie posters randomly across the canvas. Kenleigh liked this part, brushing glue on…lol. She loves helping me. Kenleigh’s a great helper, and loves to take part in any Arts and Crafts activities. I have 2 easels in the basement (a regular sized one for me, and a tinier desk top easel for Mini-Me) and I set them up side-by-side. When I sit down to paint, Kenleigh does as well on her own canvas right beside me. It takes me longer to set everything up and clean up then it does for her to paint, but it’s good Daddy/Daughter time nonetheless. At this point, we propped the canvas up to dry overnight.
Decoupage Project – “Horror Film Collage on Canvas” – Adding Blood Spatter
For the blood splatter effect, I did this part on my own. It was fun trying to come up with a nice blood red mixture with a good spatter velocity. Once I found what I liked, I placed a drop cloth on the floor and laid the canvas on top. To get in the horror head-space, I played a pre-arranged playlist of classic horror themes — including The Shower Theme from “Psycho”, and The Halloween theme from…well, Halloween.
Decoupage Project – “Horror Film Collage on Canvas” – Finished Dryed
Because we had worked on most of it together, I unveiled it first to Kenleigh. She loves that Daddy likes “scary movies” and always asks about them, I always have fun coming up with ridiculous cartoon-y and kid-friendly make-believe plots as answers. Like that Jason Voorhees is a bully that chases all the counsellors around the camp to scare them for splashing water on him in the lake. Or that Werewolves became extinct in the 1940’s.

Good wholesome, Scary (not really), fun. :)

“OUTATIME” – Poster Collage. I Just Turned 40 and Wishing I Could Go Back in Time
“OUTATIME” – Poster Collage. I Just Turned 40 and Wishing I Could Go Back in Time
**Originally posted on Sister Site – Imstillakid Designs**
“OUTTATIME” by Gerry Albert – Time Travel clock theme.
This was my “Turning 40” poster. I had made other posters this year starring my friends who have turned 40 as well (if you haven’t seen those yet, you can see’em here). But for my kick at the can, I did something a little different. I decided to pay homage to time. But specifically…

The 40 Club...So Far...
The 40 Club…So Far…
The 40 Club…so far… There’s quite a few “old” pals turning 40 this year (myself included). So I wanted to do something special as gifts to my dear friends to commemorate this milestone in ageing. I wanted these gifts to be cost effective, unique to them, and something that highlights some of their likes or interests. So I created little mini – posters for a few of these friends as their birthdays…
