Story Summary: Ozpin works tirelessly in his pursuit: to make Beacon of Hope a safe place for kids to grow up. With a bigger location and more kids to take care of, Ozpin starts to feel the weight of responsibility crushing him, and he plans to carry the whole thing himself.

For Qrow, volunteering for Beacon of Hope had only one purpose: to get Summer off his back for a little while. When he meets the polite, friendly, and handsome man in charge, he wonders if he could actually get something out of this whole ordeal after all.

Someone once asked me if, in my Halfway House AU, Raven hated Oz like she does in canon and I answered "no." I'm only now realizing that I was wrong because I was thinking about the context of canon too much.

Because she does end up hating him for a bit, but it's not til after she returns. When she feels like a stranger in her own life. When she feels like she has no idea what's going on with her own family and her own brother is almost unrecognizable to her.

Because it's been almost 20 fucking years since she spent real time with him. Since she did anything even remotely close to bonding with him.

Meanwhile, Oz has been glued to his side for the past seven years. Hell, even Raven's daughter has spent more time at Beacon than with her.

And it fucking eats her alive. And to her, there's one clear person she can lay all the blame on.

And it's Oz.

I'm having Cloqwork Thoughts™️ again everyone. Have a super short ficlet I thought of while napping:

Oz held Qrow close and ran his fingers through his partner’s hair. They had both had a long day, but holding Qrow in his arms made everything else just fade away.

Oz smiled into Qrow’s hair. “I know I’ll be alright. Because at the end of every day, for the rest of my life, I’ll always come home to you.”

Qrow shot his head up off Oz’s shoulder and stared at his partner like a deer in headlights. “Is that how long you think we’ll be together?”

The question came out like an accusation. Oz’s heart pounded in his chest. “Y-yes. Don’t you?”

Oz wasn’t ready for the kiss, but he leaned into it, welcomed it. He could taste the answer on Qrow’s lips.

Qrow slowly pulled away and whispered, breathless. “Gods, I hope so.”

Sign Up Guidelines

The main method of communication for this project will be through email. This is how you will receive your assignment information with your recipient’s preferences, squicks and triggers, and favorites. If you have any concerns, feel free to reach out either via DMs, reblogs, or asks.

When signing up…

Please feel free to be as specific or as general as possible with your answers! For instance, if you wish to prioritize characters and ships, feel free to number them (i.e. “1. Ruby 2. Weiss” or “1. Ruby/Weiss 2. Yang/Blake”), but it is not a requirement. The goal is to give your giftee enough information to create something you will enjoy, while leaving some room for them to be creative and put their own spin on it!

When coming up with prompts…

Try your best to provide a variety! You can stick with just a setting, such as “Beacon Days” or “Atlas Ball,” you can provide a scene set up, such as “Yang and Ruby having sister bonding time” or “Team STRQ getting into shenanigans,” or you can even provide an AU idea, such as “Role Swap AU” or “Nothing Bad Ever Happened AU.” You can even provide your own AU if you’d like! If you decide to do that, try to provide at least one or two non-AU options, just in case.

When creating…

The focus of your fic must be at least one character or ship from the recipient’s list! If they prioritized, try your best to use their number one as the focus!

Avoid all squicks and triggers, respect your recipient’s boundaries, and make sure you consider their favorite tags, categories, and tropes when creating your piece. Try to use at least one of their prompts as a jumping off point, too!

If you get stuck…

You can always always always reach out if you have any questions or just need some help brainstorming. You can DM, reply to the assignment email, or send an ask (especially if you wish to remain anonymous).

Try to keep your identity a secret!!!

But if you want to learn more about your recipient (for instance, if they used their own AU as a prompt and you need more information on it), feel free to send them an anonymous ask here on Tumblr or reach out to me! I’d be happy to send an anonymous message on your behalf.

Even if you don’t have questions, reach out and talk to your recipient (anonymously) as you work on their piece! Offer encouragement, ask them questions, and just spread general excitement and love for the show!
