Ayesha 🛡

Since the beginning of times every generation of the Proud Keepers tribe must’ve offered one child to the gods. That was their way.

That child was taken from the tribe for 13 years of training in the Temple of the High Ones. Only to be returned to the tribe afterwards and serve its members to the rest of their days.

One of those children was Ayesha.

20 years ago she returned to her folks, to her friends and family, but everything has changed. They changed. She changed. But that was just the way it always was, and the way it always will be.

And thus, with the strength of her sacred shield and the might of her sacred spear, Ayesha served.

She kept on training. She kept on fighting. She kept on keeping the Proud Keepers safe.

And she intended to keep fulfilling her duty until the very end.

Space Explorers: Revamped! 🪐

My take on one of the coolest sets of my childhood - LEGO 6705 Space Explorers, released in 1994.

3 different space factions (from left to right) - Ice Planet 2002, Spyrius and Unitron. 5 different minifigs. Lots of weapons and accessories. All in one set. No wonder I now love the sets I love and make customs the way I make them 😁

I tried to keep that same vintage nostalgic vibe in both style of minifigs (I tried to build them how they’d look if this set was released these days, but using as many elements as possible from the originals) and in style of photos (I tried to recreate the box art, but with some twists and buildable elements).

The Knight of Gotham: Shenanigans!

Batman heard they call him the Dark Knight. He took this “knight” part very seriously.

The Steel Steed is the Batcycle from the latest issue of LEGO Batman Magazine by Blue Ocean Entertainment. Bruce (“who’s Bruce”) is my own custom (not much customizing went into him but I think it counts lol).

“G’day, mate!”, said the City Crocodile 🐊

Everyone knows stories about alligators living in sewers of the NYC. These are commonly considered urban legends (because in reality and according to science, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles already live there). Meanwhile, in 2019 they did discover crocodiles living in a sewage system of Australia, for real this time.

The above photo portraits the latter. This City Crocodile came out of their cozy sewer house just to say hi and wish you a good day in a very Aussie way. Now isn’t that nicer than a warm vegemite toast!

I like this photo a lot. It may be one of the best LEGO photos I’ve ever taken. I tried to implement as many LEGO photography tips by @fourbrickstall as I could here, and I do like the effects (even Anna herself said it’s promising - which I take as a huge compliment 😁).

New batch of used LEGO elements 🧱

If you know me from Instagram, you know I LOVE buying used bricks and pieces. That’s an entire process and I love every part of it.

I’m lucky to have a wonderful shop with used LEGO in my hometown - Kopalnia Klocków (meaning the Brick Mine - I live in a heavily industrial area). Generally, you go there, see what they have, pick everything you like by hand and you pay per grams. It is quite exciting (and addictive) - you never know what you’ll find, and you can hunt some real gems there. And as I had a dark age (meaning - I wasn’t that into LEGO at that time) from about 2002 to 2015, it’s a great opportunity to catch up and get some of those sweet pieces you’ve missed out on before. Or even get some things that are still on shelves cheap.

There are different price categories. Minifigs and accessories (my favorite one) are the most expensive among those, but it’s still quite affordable - 10 PLN for 10 grams, but you can get a loyalty card and get -20% off every purchase.

As those pieces are used, I always clean them (2 days soaking in water with dish soap, then some light scrum with toothbrush), then I dry them, then pre-sort and document them (mainly for my own purposes), and then marry them with the rest of my already sorted elements.

All of these are from my last 2 trips to the store. And I’m very happy with this loot. Can’t wait to sit down and build something cool using these!

Golden Dragon Kai 🔥

This is an unusual photo for me. For two reasons. First, I tried to do it at least semi-right in terms of LEGO photography, plus make it a bit more dynamic. Is it great? No. Can I do better? I think so. Is it good for now and am I content enough with it? Yes it is, and I am. Second, it’s not a custom - and I usually just take photos of my customs.

This is Kai (Golden Dragon) fresh outta the latest issue of my beloved LEGO Ninjago Magazine by Blue Ocean Entertainment (yes, I read them in full, I do all the puzzles and everything). As I’m based in Poland, I get the Polish edition. I’m sorry, my dear US friends, I know you don’t have LEGO magazines - but hey, at least I can share it with you that way! The current issue is on the left, and on the right is a sneak peak of what we can expect in September.

Absolute treat in this issue. A minifigure that would be unique (in LEGO Ninjago 71769 Cole’s Dragon Cruiser) if it wasn’t for this magazine. Let’s take a closer loot at what we’re getting in terms of bricks and pieces.

I’d say we’re getting quite a lot. And good stuff too. This issue was a tad more expensive than they usually are (19.99 Polish zlotys instead of 16.99), but all things considered, I’d say it’s absolutely worth it.

What else is there in August issue? Facts about Golden Dragons. Breakdown of included minifigure with instructions. 2 posters. A graphic story. A board game. Some puzzles. And a lot of LEGO entertainment! Seriously, I’m 31 and I enjoy these magazines more than any others.

And here are just few pages to pique your curiosity without spoiling your fun.

The Knight of Cyclopia 👁

One of many foot soldiers dispatched to a distant land by the One Eyed Order of Cyclopia. Sculpted and brought to life by the most secret, the most powerful magic.

Strong. Loyal. Disposable.

His gentle and kind mind is being controlled by the Living Eye - an ancient being bound to the stone and carved into the shield.

A spell that can never be broken as once the Knight releases the shield from his grasp, he turns into a lifeless stone once more.

Another one of few short stories (accompanied by customs) I wrote (and built) as parts of my mini fantasy universe. More to be published soon!

Side note - it’s LEGO’s 90 birthday today! I can’t really express how meaningful and important LEGO is to me (no matter how unusual it may sound to some). Wishing us all another 90 and more years of creativity and rebuilding the world!

The Falconer 🦅

Kaellan was the Falconer of the tribe almost his entire life. He was but a lad when the best Falconer of the village took him under his wing. For years the old master was training him; teaching all that every Falconer oughts to know - the Way of the Bow and Arrow, the Way of the Axe... And finally, the most important one - the Way of the Falcon. That most sacred knowledge of those brave warriors, hunters and tribe peacekeepers the Falconers were. He passed it all to his young apprentice before he went on the Hunt Eternal himself.

As Kaellan was roaming through the sacred forests, holy plains and the cursed highlighands, he just couldn’t stop worrying about the future. For quite some time he felt weirdly restless. Strange rumours from the Mountain Rangers patrolling borders of the land of gorillakind were coming to his ears. With the eyes of his falcon he saw the Watchers of Cyclopia marching further and further North... He couldn't deny what he saw and heard, and he couldn’t shake away his bad feelings.

He knew that something is coming. But all he could do was to trust his Bow and Arrow, trust his Axe, trust his Falcon... And protect his tribe as well as he could.

Both this story and this minifig were inspired by a gorgeous Tartan Batman torso I bought some time ago. Everything here was created in the beginning of 2021 (and tweaked just now). And I still like it.

Common creator problems: you’re overflowing with ideas, can’t wait to try to turn them into reality, but you can’t just drop everything and start creating right away (because work, life, general adulting and stuff). Instead, you manage to write down about 50% of your ideas (50% at best because they keep flying off your head to go to someone else - Sir Terry Pratchett would agree they act that way). Then, you’re struggling to find time to actually sit down, set everything up and start creating. But then, when you do have some time, you’re simply too tired because you’re just human (and/or not an indestructible teenager anymore). And yet, you’re still overflowing with ideas, so you’re writing some of them down instead, and then… It’s kind of a vicious creative cycle lol.

Ok is this common or is this just me? 😅

Trunks (Dragon Ball Super) 🟠🐉🗡

My take on Dragon Ball’s Trunks (or rather Future Trunks from Dragon Ball Z, or even more Trunks from Dragon Ball Super). I spent quite a lot of time making him look as good as I can, but I’m quite happy with results.

And I’m quite happy with these photos. It may not be my masterpiece, but I still see a bit of an improvement over my usual ones.

What If… Kai got corrupted by Master Chen but then overthrew him to rule in his place? 🐍

Or, what if Kai was turned evil, if you will.

There was this scene in season 4 of Ninjago (one of my favorites by the way), when Kai seemed to be turned to the dark side by Master Chen. And I’ll be honest, while watching it I had doubts if this was just a trick on Kai’s side, or if Master Chen got through to him for real.

So I decided to toy with the idea of Kai turning evil for a moment - and this is the result. Plus, I do love those Anacondrai swords, so once I scored one (I missed out on all the sets from the first 7 seasons lol), how could I have not used it?

And remember - only one can remain!

My take on DC’s Killer Croc. There were many canon versions of Waylon Jones (which is Killer Croc’s real name). Here, I decided to go with his more animalistic look. But, of course, armored and quite over the top.

This is one of my buildable bigfigs, as I call them - extended legs and arms, an armor… Plus, in this case, a buildable tail.

I tried to implement some toy photography tips by @fourbrickstall here and I’m quite happy with those photos (they are not perfect, that’s for sure but I like them!).

The unholy trio of Staten Island: Nandor the Relentless, Nadja of Antipaxos, Laszlo Cravensworth.

All three are purist custom minifigures accompanied by buildable picture frames of my design. It means I made them all with genuine LEGO bricks and pieces only.

🏆 Nandor the Relentless:

Once a fearless warrior and the leader of Al Qolnidar, now the leader of (at least 3 other) vampires of Staten Island.

🏛 Nadja of Antipaxos:

Co-leader of the Vampiric Council of the Eastern Seaboard of the New World. And now, also an enterpreneur/owner of Nadja’s, the vampire club with the blood sprinklers from Blade.

🪶 Laszlo Cravensworth:

Poet. Dreamer. Artist. Lover. Need I say more?

What If… Johnny Thunder (main protagonists of LEGO: Adventurers series) had a daughter who’d team up with Lara Croft’s (from Tomb Raider) unknown younger sister.

I must say, I really enjoyed building these explorers. And I like how they turned out.
