( re2r!Leon Kennedy x gn!reader || late spring flower garden trip with your best friend, Leon )

To be honest, it was hard paying attention to the view when Leon had you in front of him.

Was it normal for you to look this pretty? Leon didn't know. You probably were. He was probably too dumb to notice until he was this close, just an arms length away from your face.

Late spring mornings just weren't for the blonde, but you insisted on getting up early to go to the nearby flower garden before the blooming season was over. How could he say no to you when you sounded so sweet over the phone?

Good god, he didn't want to sound like those movies he always quoted to make you laugh. He didn't want to ruin the moment. Leon’s head couldn't wrap itself around the feeling blooming in his chest. In a flower garden. How fitting. How cliché of him, he thought silently to himself at the realization his blues glazed over the various flower beds peppered along the beaten down cobblestone you were crouched on, eagerly staring down at the already budding flowers.

“Don't you think it's sad?” You say aloud, your hand perched against your cheek. “These flowers only live for a couple months, then they die. Poor things, don't you think?” You glance over your shoulder to look up at him. Your sudden movements make Leon straighten his back. He thinks about your words before replying.

“The way you word it sounds sad.” He says in agreement, hands in his pockets. He didn't really know why you insisted on this flower garden specifically, but since you cared so much about it, Leon guessed he should, too. He just wanted to be around you. Your presence was comforting to him. Would he ever admit it to your face? Probably not.

Oddly enough, crouching down next to you and silently observing flowers with you felt comforting, too. Even if he hated late spring mornings. He didn't know if you felt the same way as him. You probably didn't. You probably care more about the flowers. “You think we're the last faces these things see before they wilt and die?”

“God, that sounds morbid.” Leon comments, chuckling softly. “I mean…I hope not?” He thought about your question, his eyes tracing back to the flowers. They still had some dew on them. “It'd be sad if we were the last faces they saw…” Leon trails off, trying to figure out what to say. His lips poking out slightly as he thought of the right words. “But they'll come back. They always do.” He sounded sure of himself. “Every spring. I'm sure of it.” He nods his head as he speaks.

“Even if they don't look like the same flowers…things change. Things can be different.” Leon adds, he sounded even more sure of himself now.

You listen along to his words, letting them soak in before humming in agreement, lips pursed together in thought. “That's deep…” you murmur.

You stand up, dusting off your pants. Leon mirrors you, doing the same. You yawn softly. You both got up earlier than usual, after all.

“Let's go get breakfast! I know how grumpy you get on an empty stomach.” You joke, stretching out your back. And you were right, Leon was always a bit grumpy when he didn't get breakfast.

He chuckles for a moment and extends his hand out for you to take. “Yeah, let's go. My treat.”

This little trip to the flower garden wasn't half bad, Leon thought.

Important update!

Alright after a good deal of thinking, I've decided I need to take a break! I'll still be active on here, but polls will stop until either June OR when the server comes back.

There's a few reasons for this, mostly so I can finish up school and focus on moving into the new house. I've never moved before! So we are struggling a bit.

Again, I'll still be posting, because I love doing this (and our playdates are so fun)! But I just need to take a small load off for a little while.

I'll see you all tomorrow for some relaxation <3

first and foremost, thank you so very much to all three thousand (and ten) of you! it is genuinely so baffling to me that that many people are interested in my writing and this silly little project but your support and encouragement mean the absolute world to me. i cannot thank you enough!

i've done quite a few of these in the past and i've been wracking my brain for something new and exciting to do to celebrate when i decided to just keep it lowkey and stick with what i know. which is writing ofc. that is what got me to this point after all!

for the celebration itself, i'll be doing the standard personalised drabbles for 2 people chosen at random. this entails your mc and ro in any scenario of your choosing, between 800 and 1000 words. if you wish to participate, all you have to do is the reblog this post. i have to ask that you reblog only if you want the chance of being selected, likes and comments will not count.

i'm also interested in doing an interview with all the characters. you can submit any question for any character in the mirror mine universe using this here form and the finished product will be posted near the end of september.
