Emergency Comms (help me afford to live)

I've been staying in a hotel since May 6, the only one that would take me because I'm 19. After all those months I've finally been able to land a cheap apartment. 650/month all utilities paid. However as you can see, i cant afford that now. I'm unemployed right now because I'm disabled. My one and only source of income is commissions.

I cannot begin to ascertain why this could possibly be the case but the Wings of Fire book series has suddenly and inexplicably taken up at least like 10 times the thought it usually does (like maybe 0.25% to maybe 2.5%. It's not like I'm obsessed with it now or anything but it's weirdly prominent now) ever since slightly earlier this week.

The last time I touched one of these books was apparently in November of 2023. The last time I seriously considered the story, setting, or characters was more than a couple months ago.

what's your least favorite part of making pixel art?

what is your most favorite part?

Oh hey I felt inspired to draw something to give a visual reference for what I'm talking about. Here are the steps I usually go through when making pixel art, demonstrated by my attempt to draw an screw (with a really flat point for some reason)

1. Basic Outline

This is consistently terrible. I'm so bad at drawing good outlines of things, especially when things like foreshortening come into play. Unless I'm drawing a square or something, it will take me numerous attempts to make a good outline of something.

2. Basic colors

The screw is black. I decided to make it more metallic in color in my drawing. Whatever. I'm pretty good at making the colors I want, so this isn't bad. The only times it starts getting bad is when there's a boundary between colors and it looks wrong.

3. Shading and details

This stage is where I add shading and details. It's either very frustrating when it doesn't come out well (most of the time) or deeply satisfying when it does. I also adjust the outline if needed if it's not quite right or it needs to be different to accommodate a detail, like a wrinkle for example.

4. Highlights (if necessary)

If something is shiny and/or the lighting is sharp, then highlights are needed. I feel the same way about highlights as I do about shading, but the issue with highlights is that I cannot recall ever getting them right.

5. Final touch-ups

This could theoretically consist of anything, but it mostly means improving the colors of the outline for me. At least this one's easy to do and makes stuff look better.

dude why does everyone always misinterpret my tone of voice. like if i say something to correct someone or i'm talking about something and someone asks what something involved in what i'm talking ab is and i think i'm saying it in a calm way but everyone always acts like/points out that i'm talking to them like i think they're a complete moron or like i'm talking very aggressively with them and i don't understand. and then when i'm talking sometimes people will tell me i'm being loud and i don't usually think i am when they tell me this. it's like i don't understand how i sound when i'm talking to people and everything always comes off wrong/everyone always reads me wrong and idk what to do ab it.
