Accepting the mating bond, at this point, is basically just confirming the Cauldron, which in canon has been corrupted, is in fact always right. That there is no freewill when faced with your destiny. That fate will always command your life and, despite what you might want for yourself or your life, you’ll never be able to escape that fate. It says that, no, love cannot change your destiny. That your destiny is fixed. It always has been, and always will be, no matter what you do to try and escape it.

WHICH GOES AGAINST EVERYTHING BEING BUILT FOR ELAIN’S CHARACTER AND HER STORY.
