If I finish the chapter I'm in
That might be the last chapter?
And then the epilogue
And the Nagito chapters?
Maybe?
Maybe?????

That's fun ! Hajime/Sonia, Chihiro/Mondo and Sai/ouma.
Yaaaaaaas
Sonata
What made you ship it?
I like both characters and feel they have a respectable amount of chemistry. Also cute FTEs and Island Mode. Also, I’d date Sonia and Hinata’s the self-insert, so...
What are your favorite things about the ship?
The pairing name. Also, the fact that they’re co-leaders. I like co-leader...ships. Co-leaderships. Yes,
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
...are there any to have...it’s pretty unpopular just to like this ship. Uhhhh, I guess Komahinania >>>>>>> Soudamnia and KomaHinaNami. What do you mean that shouldn’t count? IT SHOULD!!!!!
ChihiMondo
What made you ship it?
This fanart won me over and this comic cemented it.
What are your favorite things about the ship?
It’s about two people trying to deal with toxic masculinity in super misguided ways which tragically end in both their deaths, however, the fact that it’s treated as a tragedy over a crime still gives the characters a lot of humanity and carries on dr1′s theme of hope and the belief in humanity’s compassion over despair in cynicism.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Uh... Mondo would accept Chihiro no matter who they are, even if it took some work getting there! Is that any good...?
SaiOuma
Why don’t you ship it?
It’s shallow and I don’t buy the idea that Ouma actually gives a shit about Saihara and the fact that he primarily uses Saihara as a tool to get under Kaito’s skin in Chapter 4 doesn’t help. On the other end, Saihara doesn’t really care much for Ouma in the main story, either. It’s hard to like a ship when the two characters don’t care about each other much less like one another.
What would have made you like it?
If they...liked each other or had any kind of relationship where they’re invested in each other’s wellbeing? That might’ve helped...?
Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
I mean, it looks cute. And even if Ouma uses Saihara against Kaito, I do still think SaiOuMota is a pretty solid OT3, provided it’s not focused on Saihara. =w=;;

A/N: I feel like Kaede would have shared the SHSL Hope title if she was in dr1. Okay but if Kirigiri was in v3 she wouldn’t do a half-ass detective investigation. She’d test out traps and know a rigged game when she sees one. SPOILERS on the mastermind.
Other switch AUs: luckster | togami | naegi | troublemaker | detective | maid | liar | protagonist dr1/sdr2 | protagonist dr1/ndrv3 | protagonist sdr2/ndrv3 | heroine dr1/ndrv3 | heroine sdr2/ndrv3 | fem protag dr:ae/ndrv3 | mastermind
Heroine in the Wrong Game - Kaede and Kyouko
“We’re going to be alright. If we all just work together, I’m sure that we can get through this!”
She says this for the nth time already. She’ll say it as many times as she needs to. Sure it took them a few trials and more dead bodies than one would have liked, but she thinks that maybe she’s finally getting through them.
“Might I remind you that one of us is the killer? I don’t care if you peasants start holding hands but do not include me in your incompetent schemes.” Byakuya brushed her off just like he always did whenever she brought up cooperation.
“Geez, would it kill you to get off your high horse for once!” Kaede huffed at him.
“How dare you t-talk back to Master Byakuya, you… y-you bitch!” Touko yelled the insult with surprising volume especially on the last word.
“Bitch?!” Kaede was offended but she knew better than to engage in a pointless verbal warfare with the writer. She sighed. “I really shouldn’t be the one you’re shouting at. You could at least hear me out first.”
“Don’t worry, Kaede-chin! I’m placing my bets on you! My fortunes say that you’re on the right track. I’ll take the payment in cash later!” Hagakure gave her a thumbs up.
“Are you extorting money from me in exchange for your support?” Kaede asked disbelievingly. She tries not to think about the fact that his fortunes are only correct 30% of the time and how those aren’t exactly great odds.
“I don’t know… Our friends just keep on dying. Worse is that we just keep on finding out a friend who’s betrayed us every time. I don’t think what we do makes any difference.” Asahina admiited hopelessly.
“You’ve got that wrong!” Kaede shouted in protest. But despite her loud yell, her next sentence is soft and comforting. “I know. It’s frustrating and sad and heartbreaking finding corpses of our friends and… finding out that they were murdered by… our friends too. But we can’t just let it end here. If we did then that would mean that we lost. Haven’t we already lost enough? I don’t want us to lose any more.”
“I agree. It’s too early to give up. I know we’ve been fighting for so long now but just because we haven’t won yet doesn’t mean we already lost.” Makoto seconded her speech with one of his own.  "We can’t lose hope. As long as we hold onto the hope that we can still get out of this together, we’ll be fine. I just know it!“
"Wow, you’re really great at this motivational thing. If I didn’t know better, I would’ve said it was your talent.” Kaede stared at him in awe and respect.
“Well, optimism is my one redeeming quality.” Makoto sheepishly scratched his head at the sudden attention. “Your words honestly touched me too. That’s why I want to support you with all I’ve got. I’m sure that if you hold on to those words, to that hope, everyone else will eventually listen to you too!”
Kaede’s still working on getting her classmates together but she thinks she’s getting there. One person at a time.
“Alright, team! We can do this! We have the enemy outnumbered!”
Meanwhile, in another class…
“We’re not voting.”
She says it so suddenly and with so much authority that it has the whole class uncharacteristically quiet.
“Nyeh? What do you mean, we’re not voting?” Himiko although being the slowest among them, was surprisingly quick on the uptake. It must have been the shock.
“Exactly what it means.” Kyouko calmly confirmed.
“Gonta is confused. Don’t we need to vote?” Gonta asked, scratching his head in thought.
“We were TOLD that we need to vote,” Kyouko clarified. “There is however, no real reason for us to vote immediately other than a time limit ill-imposed on us.”
“So what? Are you telling us to just die all because you thought we could get away with not voting? Why the hell should we listen to Kyoucum here?” Miu loudly expressed her concerns with all the unnecessary insults.
“I’m telling you not to vote because this is a trap.” Kyouko narrowed her eyes. “Clearly, not all of the mysteries have been solved yet and we’re already asked to vote. Doesn’t that seem suspicious to you?”
“Does it matter? We already figured out that it was Shuichi who did it.” Maki countered, eager to just get this over with.
“No, we didn’t figure out anything concrete. He’s only the suspect not the culprit.” Kyouko corrected her. “We have yet to confirm if his trap did in fact work.”
“But there’s no other way that Rantaro could have been killed, right?” Kirumi asked in an effort to further the discussion.
“Not necessarily. I have a theory…” Kyouko paused, placing a hand on her chin in thought. “I would like to discuss it with all of you first before we finalized our votes.”
“Listen, I know you two are buddies because you’re both detectives but there’s a limit as to how much you should protect your friends…” Ryoma warned her darkly.
“It’s precisely because I’m a detective that I can’t let this slide so easily.” Kyouko counters vehemently. “Jumping to conclusions without irrefutable evidence is just sloppy work. Whether or not Shuichi is my friend is irrelevant. I am a detective first and foremost, and I am here to solve ALL mysteries.”
“That’s enough, Kyouko.” Shuichi who has been quiet all this time, finally spoke up. His hand was trembling as it clutched his hat. “I’ve… I’ve already accepted my crime. There’s no need to prolong the inevitable. Just vote for me… and all of you can survive.”
“…” Kyouko just stared at him. Disappointed. She let out an audible sigh. “And you call yourself a detective?”
“I… Does it matter anymore?” Shuichi sadly smiled. “You’re clearly a better detective than I am, Kyouko. If it’s you, I’m sure the whole class would be fine even with me gone.”
“…If you have nothing better to contribute then I suggest you just observe. You should know better than to just rely on confessions without any concrete proof.” Kyouko pointed out. “I don’t care which of us is the better detective. As long as you also hold the title, I suggest you stop acting like a victim and start acting like a detective.”
“As expected of Kyouko-san! Between her and the degenerate male, she is clearly the more superior detective!” Tenko squealed.
“While it does not wound me to hear your support, I would like to keep this strictly professional.” Kyouko brushed a few locks behind her ear, hiding her embarrassment. “Any opinions of either of our work ethics should be decided only after we’ve proven ourselves in this trial.”
“Kukuku… How beautiful! Spoken like a true detective! You have truly risen to your role! It fills me to the brim with excitement thinking of just what is the solution to this mystery you so desire to earnestly solve!” Korekiyo laughed.
“…Let’s move along.” Kyouko did not want to humor him.
“Nyahaha! Atua has a question! See, Angie has been thinking this whole time… Isn’t it strange? Isn’t it strange? Angie said it twice for effect haha! How come we get to have two detectives hmmmm?” Angie asked with a coy smile.
“That’s… actually a good question.” Kyouko doesn’t deny it even if it brings the heat to her. “There is no necessity to have a duplicate in terms of talent. This redundancy has been bothering me ever since I learned of what my true talent is.”
“Yeah, usually getting doubles in characters counts as lazy writing but apparently it doesn’t count if one of them is a fan favorite.” Tsumugi casually drops.
“Who cares if there are two detectives? They’re different people anyways so there shouldn’t be a problem.” Kaito innocently reasoned.
“No, that’s wrong.” Kyouko objected. “There’s nothing inherently wrong or suspicious with having two detectives gathered however… given our circumstances, it should have been obvious that we were all selected to have unique talents. And yet, we have two people with the same talent. For what reason?”
“Ah, but wasn’t your title originally SHSL ???, Kyouko? You couldn’t remember your talent like Rantaro but you eventually figured it out during his body’s investigation.” Kiibo brought up.
“That’s another mystery. Two people who can’t remember their talent. We may never know what Rantaro’s talent was but mine has been revealed to be exactly the same as Shuichi’s.” Kyouko bit the inside of her cheek in frustration. “There are so many redundancies to ignore.”
“You’re thinking too hard on this, Miss Detective! There’s obviously a simple solution to this!” Kokichi tutted and then smiled sweetly. “And that is… You’re lyiiiiing!”
“…Would you care to explain your theory?” Kyouko encouraged him, unfazed by the accusation.
“You keep pointing out all these weird character points but if you look at the source, they’re all about you! Who’s to say that you really can’t remember what your talent is? Maybe you just faked that story once you heard our beloved Rantaro introduce himself as not remembering his. Who’s to say that your real talent is at being a detective? Maybe you’re just that good at shadowing what our poor Shuichi does. See, you say it’s weird but really, it’s not. You’ve just been lying to us! And I hate liars!”
“Well that was… certainly less farfetched than most of your lies.” Kyouko admitted that much. “But that just now was a lie too, isn’t it? You don’t really believe Im lying.”
“Awww, you seriously are better than Shuu-chan.” Kokichi pouted but she could see through his feigned disappointment. “Welp! Guess there’s no use in you pretending anymore either. Now that we’ve cleared up your suspicion, Kyou-chan, I think it’s safe to start pointing fingers at the mastermind!”
“M-Mastermind?” Shuichi looked on with horror. “But the trap failed! It didn’t kill the mastermind, it only killed Rantaro instead!”
“Again, do not let me repeat this more than necessary. While it is unfortunate that Rantaro has been killed, it has yet to be confirmed that it was your shot put ball that did it.” Kyouko stared at Shuichi with an unreadable expression. “You set up the trap to lure the mastermind, right? Your original goal was to kill them after. In a way, the trap had only been fifty percent effective.”
“Fifty percent?” Shuichi’s eyes widened in shock. “The mastermind is obviously not dead since we’re having a trial so… does that mean… you really did figure out who?”
“Yes, I’ve had my list of suspects but after enough evidence has been presented in this trial, I have narrowed it down to one.” Kyouko crossed her arms. “There’s still a possibility that my theory is wrong but that is why this trial exists. That’s all the more reason we should not vote and continue discussing instead.”
“Nishishi! Don’t keep us waiting in suspense, Kyou-chan!” Kokichi cheerfully interjects. “Tell us already who’s the sicko that had us trapped in this stupid killing game!”
“Very well. Given all the evidence at hand, there is a concerning possibility that the mastermind is none other than…” Kyouko scans the trial room until her eyes land on a particular someone. “Tsumugi Shirogane.”
“Eh?”
“WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?”
“Tsumugi’s whereabouts during the murder had been the most suspicious. That alone shouldn’t have been sufficient but her actions during the whole trial had led me to believe that she has been steering this trial to serve a goal that’s more than just our survival.” Kyouko narrowed her eyes at the now quiet supposedly plain girl. “Isn’t that right, Tsumugi?”
“Oh, dear… It’s only the first trial and we already have a mastermind reveal…” Tsumugi sighed, resigned to this lazy writing. “This is what we get when we let the fans choose a comeback character.”
Kyouko casually flips her hair.
“It doesn’t matter what kind of mystery you throw. I’ll solve them all.”
The two heroines continued to struggle with trials of their own and unbeknownst to them that they were in the wrong class.

It Happened Again [Fever February Day 17 - Hospital Fever]
FEVER FEBRUARY INDEX
Summary: Chiaki receives a call from not one, but three of her friends, and all for the same reason. A reason so strong, she leaves her livestream viewers hanging without a word, and runs for the local supermarket. Because it all happened again.
Fandom: Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair (Non-Desp AU, cameos by characters from DR1 and DRV3) Ship: Hinanami (Hajime/Chiaki)
Word Count: 3K words
Notes: No long time to see in the Hinanami sphere with my usual sickfic business. Can't say this is the best comeback ever, but I hope to do much better next time haha. This was mostly a warm-up. A three-day warm-up, but still, a warm-up.It turns out using my ideas from July 2017 more than half a year after originally having them made this fanfic very stale and with nowhere to fucking go. And I still don't know how to write Chiaki so that's good I guess. Kind of a follow up to a Pixelated Fever oneshot from a while back, "Hajime discovers shiny hunting: the fic". At least, takes place in the same settings and AU conditions.
AO3 version available here.
The hunt was going strong for Chiaki, who was sitting in front of her computer for a surprise livestream. It doesn’t happen often, because she attends college (as she should), and while she couldn’t really launch herself into competitive gaming thanks to it being too fast for her, she still dreamed of making video gaming her source of income in the near future.
Sure, shiny hunting required ungodly patience to most people’s eyes. It was, after all, a long and slow process of trying over and over until you find the perfect gem. Some people said it was useless because it was “just the same but in different colours”: Chiaki loved it because she could do it at her pace. She also happened to think it was a great challenge with a satisfying reward, since she got to keep the fruit of her labour.
So, of course, when her phone rang, she didn’t pick up at first.
The chat got a bit upset over this. It was probably just a friend from college who was calling to get some news of her. At worst, they would leave a voice mail and she would call later. Maybe. She didn’t like phoning people. She preferred talking to them over Discord and Skype. She’d see later, she thought.
“Don’t worry guys… It’s probably just a friend from school…” she told her audience, in an attempt to calm them down.
But the phone kept ringing.
Chiaki wondered if she shouldn’t have muted it, because she didn’t like being disturbed during her livestreams at all! It was meant to be a sweet surprise for her viewers, not some kind of chore to go through because of someone desperate to talk to her when they could wait for later.
Still, she eventually picked her pink cell, if only to look at who’s calling her. The name on the screen couldn’t mistake her: it’s Makoto. It seemed like she had also missed calls from Kazuichi and Kaito. That was weird… Why would the three of them call her at the same time? There must had been a reason for it. She picked up the call.
“Chiaki, finally!” Makoto sighed in relief from the other side of the line, but she could still tell he was very tense. His voice was shaking between every word.
“What’s wrong, Makoto? You sound so stressed…”
“Oh, huh, yeah, that’s why we were trying to call you! It’s about what happened a bit earlier at the shop…”
The supermarket, of course! Makoto, Kazuichi and Kaito all worked there. That made a common point between the three of them. She felt a lump forming in her throat, in anticipation for what was to come.
“Could you come to the supermarket as soon as possible? I’m afraid I won’t be able to explain you everything on the phone, I have stuff to attend to real quick! But please, please come as fast as you can, Chiaki!!”
The urgency in Makoto’s voice made her accept, even if she would had been more reluctant usually. Displaying a cold face, or at least one colder enough to get a mixed reaction from her worried viewers, she waved them goodbye and went offline. Without a word.
Her fingers were shaking. She didn’t have to be told to guess it was about Hajime. Why else would they all call her? It had to be about Hajime. She quickly grabbed her bag, her keys and headed outside as soon as possible, running down the stairs of her building, almost forgetting to lock the door to their flat.
In front of her apartment lot, was a car waiting for her, much to her surprise. In its driver’s seat, Kaito. Chiaki sat the passenger seat quicker than she could have ever expected coming from her, barely looking at him to thank him for the ride, or just to even say hello to him. How unpolite of her, but her anxiety was already growing to high levels.
“You really didn’t take long after Makoto called you, dontcha? It’s weird, cause you’re usually pretty slow!”
The car took off as soon as he stopped speaking, heading straight to the supermarket. And that was where everything fell apart to her eyes.
Chiaki ran straight to Makoto and Kazuichi, who were standing near the glass double-doors of the entrance. They both seemed sad, compared to their usual grins and smiles… This only meant trouble, and what kind of trouble and to what extent, she would soon know. Kaito followed closely behind her, his footsteps loud enough to be heard from far enough in the almost-empty parking.
“Makoto, Kazuichi, I’m here…! Sorry for the missed calls and lateness…!”
She was breathless, but she didn’t mind, as long as she got to know what was wrong and whatever she could do to fix it, as little as the fix would be.
Kazuichi looked at her with an uncharacteristic lack of enthusiasm. At that point, it seemed like even a kiss from Sonia couldn’t make him look happier.
“So,” he told her in a calm voice, “you came, huh… Guess we don’t have much choice but to explain you what’s just happened, right?”
Makoto seemed very embarrassed upon seeing Kazuichi’s eyes laid upon him.
“Hajime… isn’t really here anymore…” is all the lucky boy added, looking down.
That was even worse! What had even happened in there?!
“What do you mean?” she asked, determined to squeeze an answer out of them.
“Yeah, guys,” Kaito arrived into the conversation, “Hajime was there when I left! Where is he?”
“We had to call an ambulance man!” Kazuichi yelled as his reply. “His fever wouldn’t stop rising, we got scared shitless!!”
Chiaki completely froze.
For once, she had an insistent glaze laid on everybody around her. It wasn’t really them she was blaming: of course they’d call an ambulance if their friend and workmate had a potentially lethal fever. No, it was an anger directed at both her, for not preventing this situation to happen when she could have done so in the morning, and at Hajime for being irresponsible again.
He truly hadn’t changed on that point since Hope’s Peak.
“Oh, right!” Makoto reacted. “You can’t know the full story yet, Chiaki! One of us will have to tell you when driving you to the hospital, since at least two of us need to remain here…”
“I’ll drive her myself,” Kaito said as he patted her shoulder. “You guys take care of the mall while I’m away, okay?”
“Copy that, Roger!”
It was with anxiety and an intense worry burning in her blood that Chiaki followed the astronaut-to-be to his car which he had sloppily parked when bringing her there.
Kaito’s story enabled her to put in pictures what had happened at the supermarket while she was hunting for a Reshiram she’d have to put on the side.
While they were ordering shelves, with desert alleys in dire need of restocking, he heard a weird thumping sound. Thinking it was just some product someone hadn’t put in there properly, Kaito went to check out what had caused the noise, as faint as it was.
He was confronted to his workmate and friend collapsed to the ground, face against the cold floor, having seemingly fallen from his stool as he was restocking soulmate-themed cereal boxes.
Growing instantly worried, he ran to Hajime, who fortunately was still breathing. He wasn’t breathing fine, that was for sure, as it was in ragged breaths, but he was alive. Not alive and well, that was for sure, but he was alive. He also didn’t seem to have hurt anything except for his nose and some quick bruises here and there on exposed parts of his skin.
Turning the older boy on his back revealed two things to Kaito: Hajime was paler than if Celestia Ludenberg and his best friend Shuichi had a corpse baby together, and that his cheeks and bridge of nose were redder than Himiko’s hair. He also happened to have dark rings under his eyes. Well, darker-than-usual rings that was. After all, Hajime always looked tired and done with everything ever.
(Chiaki couldn’t really contradict that. Hajime was, frankly, a bad sleeper who really enjoyed waking up early in the morning.)
Of course, Kaito immediately ran to warn Makoto and Kazuichi, who were in near alleys, about Hajime being half-dead on the cold-ass floor. He didn’t even think about checking the latter’s temperature: his face alone, and the heat beneath his fingers, were enough to give away how high the guy’s fever was.
Of course, Kazuichi immediately panicked. Despite the fact he used to be in Hajime’s class and was probably the one of them three to be the most aware and used to the ex-Ultimate Counsellor’s antics. Instead, it was Makoto who got the idea to bring their workmate to the break room, lay him on the sofa there and call for Chiaki and an ambulance.
(Kaito apologized for not remembering the ambulance call at first. Chiaki excused it as stress taking over his memory. After all, she was dead worried for Hajime too.)
And that was when she finally picked up their calls, or rather, their pleas for desperate help as they really didn’t know how to deal with the situation. Dead in their tracks. He didn’t have any idea: even if he was often sick, he wasn’t that insane.
(Chiaki nodded.)
The trip to the hospital had been deadly quiet on her part. Chiaki still couldn’t utter a single word, actually: she was worried beyond her mind, and words just wouldn’t exit her mind. Instead, it was a bit of a turmoil inside of her. The question was: how hadn’t she noticed something would go wrong?
Recalling her day as best as she could, she remembered he had woken up far before she did, leaving the flat before she could be out of bed. She swore she had heard some suspicious sounds here and there, probably tumbling. It was easy to brush it off as Hajime not being very awaken yet. But she should have known better.
She should have known he was an earlier bird than that.
Before she knew it, Chiaki was getting leaded into some corridors and into a hospital room. She knew it wouldn’t be as happy as the time they had all gone to check on Kazuichi who had broken his leg trying to please Sonia again (it had worked, somewhat, at least she had recognized the kind gesture). It would also not be as dark as Kaede telling them about that time Shuichi had almost strangled her in a delirium.
At least, she was certain Hajime didn’t have pneumonia. That was a plus, right? Else, she would have heard it, if Kaede’s descriptions were anything to go by.
In the room, she was left alone to face an occupied bed, door closing softly behind her. “I’ll let you two have some privacy” was the worst sentence ever when she barely knew what was wrong. Timidly, the gamer made her way to the bed, weary eyes fixated on the patient. She wasn’t scared of him: she was scared of what he had, and what he had done. There was always something terrifying, or at least intimidating about what he was capable of doing for the sake of something mundane.
Chiaki grabbed a nearby chair calmly, silently, and put it next to his bed. She sat just as noisily on it, sighing, afraid of studying his current condition from the outside, yet feeling the duty to do so. After all, she was his best friend and girlfriend. One of the things she owed him was to take care of him.
Kaito was right: Hajime looked tired all the time. However, it didn’t mean it couldn’t get worse: the Hajime before her eyes right at this moment was exhausted, if not worse. His dark rings had taken the shape of a dark purple canyon. It would have scared those who didn’t know him in his worst times: having see him overworked before, it didn’t scare her as much as it should have. It still made her worry, just as much even, but it wasn’t scary anymore.
The dark rings were alone on this face, though. While Hajime wasn’t as pale as a “corpse baby”, his skin had still lost a couple tones of colours, making him shades whiter than he usually was. That would be to ignore the important redness on his face: his cheeks were, indeed, tainted in a sickly shade of red.
His ragged breathing was one more indication of how unwell he actually was. How on Earth had he even been able to go to work in this condition? Sweat was rolling down his face, accompanying a pain look even in slumber and the other sickness symptoms he was showing. She could only wait for him to wake up to discuss everything she wanted to discuss.
Chiaki had dozed off without realizing it. She only realized it when she felt a hand shaking her shoulder gently, almost weakly, and stirred her eyes open. She woke up a bit quicker than usual, much to her surprise, before realizing she had napped in a room she wasn’t familiar with. Moments after that, she remembered where she was and why so: she was at the hospital, because Hajime had collapsed at work. Well, the collapse part was a hypothesis, but it had to be that, right?
The hand, in fact, belonged to him. He was half-sitting half-lying, a small smile on his face, and that despite his half-closed eyes and shabby breathing. He looked so weak… It was always weird to see him so vulnerable, far from his usual physical strength and both comforting and almost intimidating aura.
“Good morning, Chiaki…”
His smallest smile was driven with kindness even if it was, like everything about him right at this moment, weak.
“You shouldn’t be the one waking me up, Hajime…”
He snickers lightly.
“Why so…? You were asleep, weren’t ya…?”
“Because I’m not the sick one here!”
Hajime got taken aback, well, as aback as he could get when it seemed like his body had given up on him for the most part. Only then, did he weakly smile again, scoffing to himself.
“Heh, you’re right… I actually don’t recognize that place… We’re not in the staff room, right…?”
“Indeed, we’re at the hospital…”
Chiaki couldn’t bring herself not to be angry at him. She was, usually, never angry, except when stuff like that happened. According to her friends, it was anger born from worry, and she couldn’t see any other explanation to her uncharacteristic anger otherwise.
“I pissed you off, didn’t I…? Should have expected it as soon as I left…”
“Why are you doing this?”
He goes completely silent.
“I already explained to you countless times you shouldn’t be doing this for whatever reason you come up with… And so did everybody else… So, why are you doing this?”
The (cold) sweat running down his face was telling her he didn’t know himself. He never knew, in fact. He just kept doing because he considered it was his duty, or his obligations, and that you shouldn’t not accomplish your duty and said obligations.
Instead, his eyes looked at the IV in his wrist.
“Dunno… But I know I always tell you that I dunno… People keep telling me I can’t stop, they’re probably right… Haha…”
“I think that… If I hadn’t woken up so late, I may had been able to stop you…”
“What do you mean…?”
“You’ve been exhausted for a few days, yet I simply didn’t do anything against it…”
Hajime looked perplexed by her words. Who wouldn’t be? She wasn’t like that, usually, but she thought it was one of these times where she could express these kinds of feelings openly without them feeling too much out of place. It had happened before, in high school and afterwards.
“You’ll never stop if we don’t prevent you from throwing yourself in a fire… But I feel like I’ve already told you so. Multiple times, even, I think. I don’t feel like words serve a use anymore…”
“Guess I really am a stubborn guy, huh… Sorry for all the worries and fuss I caused, I’m sure the guys are gonna scream at me again later…”
“Why did you come to work sick, exactly?”
“Well… Today was supposed to be a busy day, at least this afternoon, so we were asked to come here to restock… And you know we need the money to buy you a new setup for your streams…”
Shot through the heart.
“Oh, Hajime… Don’t tell me you went to work sick because I want to replace my microphone and camera…”
He smiled.
“What if I did…? We need all the extra money we can get, especially since we’re still both in college and whatnot…”
“Yes, but not at the cost of your health!”
“Yeah, you’re right… Health’s expensive too…”
His deadpanned look and his illogical statements just screamed to her his brain was severely fevered.
“This isn’t what I meant… You need to take better care of yourself, Hajime. I know you’ve made some efforts for it in the past, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have a long way to go… You should know by now overworking doesn’t bring you anything but pain and fevers…”
“But…”
“Don’t use the money argument, please… Not again… Life doesn’t work that way, Hajime…”
His smile faded.
“Yeah, I know that… You may be right when you say I need someone to stop me from doing stupid shit…”
Chiaki put a comforting hand on his shoulder.
“So, let yourself some rest and care, okay? We’re all going to make sure you get the self-care you need…”
He laid back in bed.
“Yeah, let’s do that once I’ve actually slept…”

Ace Attorney, Danganronpa, Love Live for the ask meme
STRAP YOURSELVES IN, KIDDOS. THIS IS A FUCKING ESSAY RIGHT HERE.
Ace Attorney:
Favorite Male Character: Miles Edgeworth. Shi-Long Lang is great as well. I also have a soft spot for Klavier, Sebastian and Apollo. And, naturally, my space son, Clay Terran.
Favorite Female Character: Kay Faraday!! Props also go to Mia Fey and Trucy Wright, as well as Athena and Jinxie.
Favorite Het Ship: Farabeste (Sebastian/Kay). Cykesquill as well, but I’m very specific about how and when I like it...like, ridiculously specific. Diego/Mia is good as well. For something more ridiculous that I think would be fun, Clay and Athena could have had a great dynamic. Maybe even Clay and Jinxie, if we go out and be totally wild.
Favorite Slash Ship (both M/M and F/F): Klapollo, Langworth, Nahyuta/Simon. Vera/Trucy, lady Cykesquill, Robin/Myriam and Athena/Juniper for the ladies.
Least Favorite Male Character: how to I condense the list of the bastards? Kristoph is evil, but I cannot deny he had charm as a character - he’s terrifying, but fascinating, so I cannot name him as my least favourite. I think I’ll go with either von Karma or Blaze Debeste. They’re responsible for so much misery, and they don’t have any tragic reasons for being the way they are.
Least Favorite Female Character: Ma//ya Fe//y. I know the reasons people have for liking her, and I can forgive some flaws in writing, but she simply has too many of them. I know she is a courageous girl who ultimately wishes to do good, but the way she acts, especially in the first two games... just make me go ‘hmmmm’. Honestly, my favourite games in the series are those where I don’t get to see her. Young Pearl is also very low down on the list, and she was my least favourite for a long while, but her teenage years made me soften up to her, she’s pretty great in DD.
Least Favorite Het Ship: anything that encourages abuse, like Grant/Lana? Why would you do this? Also, I’m not fond of Athena/Apollo or Juniper/Apollo. Apollo is far too gay in my eyes to ever be together with a girl. Phoenix/Maya is another one I dislike.
Least Favorite Slash Ship (both M/M and F/F): same rule as above applies. Aside from those, I... don’t have many slash ships I actively dislike, surprisingly? My main one would be Wri//ght//wor//th, since, in my opinion, it’s very overhyped, and I cannot turn around in this fandom without seeing it, but even that is mostly just...annoyance.
Dirty Little Secret: I haven’t forgotten about my dumbass theory. I’m just...really fucking slow.
Headcanon(s): this will need to be answered in its own separate asks. I have headcanons for everyone. For now, though - Jinxie Tenma is a Fey.
Unpopular Opinion(s): I like Gyakuten Kenji far more than the original games. In general, games with a protag that’s not Phoenix and newer games in the series I tend to like more. Not to imply that the original trilogy was bad or anything, but... Edgeworth is far more solid as a protagonist, not only because his side was relatively unexplored, but because his investigation methods were so much more sensible. Phoenix has this ‘wing it’ approach, which works fine, until you see past it. When you see past it, the tension build-up it tries to pull fails massively, and you just get annoyed by Phoenix never thinking ahead for anything, or being oblivious. With Edgeworth, when there are moments of tension, they appear because of something genuinely unexpected, or because Edgeworth made a miscalculation (which allows character growth). Even when Edgeworth has to pull dumb or crazy shit, it feels like it makes sense, because he thinks, even when he panics. Also, Phoenix is tied down by the worst accompanying duo of Maya and Pearl all the time, while Edgeworth acquires an absolutely amazing set of sidekicks (and he not only gets fun new ones, like Kay and Lang, but there’s so much detail in his interactions with Gumshoe, Franziska and Larry as well? It was great to see the Edgeworth/Larry dynamic of the friendship). Plus, I like the Logic Chess things, the soundtrack is my favourite (how exactly COULD you even attempt to top Shi-Long Lang’s theme???), at least if we’re not counting PLvsAA as a part of this universe, and I like the visuals of it much better. In short, everybody should play these fucking games right fucking now, and storm Capcom offices so they actually port GK2 for the Western market.
A lot of the same criteria apply for the newer games, too. While DD was a comeback for Phoenix, it was a game with mixed protagonists, and it was a new Phoenix as well. Apollo probably has my second favourite supporting character crew after Edgeworth, and, at the time, his Perceive mechanic was refreshing to see after being stuck to the same gimmick for 3 games. Same with Athena. She differs dractically from both Phoenix and Apollo, and brings a new mechanic and a new set of associated people. In other words? I’m happy this series is trying new things, and exploring extra protagonists where it can. It has improved a whole bunch as a result.
Danganronpa:
Favorite Male Character: Byakuya Togami, Kiyotaka Ishimaru. Nagisa Shingetsu. Gundham Tanaka, Hajime Hinata, Kuzuryuu Fuyuhiko, Nagito Komaeda. Shuuichi Saihara, Ouma Kokichi, Rantarou Amami.
Favorite Female Character: Aoi Asahina, Celes, Touko Fukawa. Sonia Nevermind, Peko Pekoyama, Akane Owari, Ibuki Mioda. Angie Yonaga, Kirumi Toujou, Maki Harukawa, Tenko Chabashira.
Favorite Het Ship: Togami/Asahina, Ishimaru/Asahina, Hinata/Ibuki, Tanaka/Pekoyama (I’m especially fond of this one, also titled Soft Animals Edge Duo). Sonia/Kuzuryuu is also great, though that is a platonic ship, as I headcanon Sonia as aro.
Favorite Slash Ship (both M/M and F/F): Naegi/Ishimaru, Naegi/Togami. KomaNaegi is quite pure, but a friend also got me into KomaSouda as a complimentary ship to TanaPeko. A crackship, but still a favourite is Izuru/Ryouta. And, of course, the ultimate fave - Saiouma. (A nice shoutout also goes to Oumota and Amamota). As for the ladies, Kirizono and Celesgiri, and all gay Asahina ships are good, SoniAkane & Pekobuki. In V3, Tenko is mega gay, so there’s a chance for every gay ship, however, my favourite one is Tenko/Maki. If we’re talking non-Tenko ships, Angie/Maki sounds fun.
Least Favorite Male Character: in DR1, surprisingly, none. Well, Hagakure can get on my nerves, but I like just alright all of them. In SDR2, Nidai, in my opinion, didn’t have that great of a development, so I guess him. Though I also have plenty of issues with Souda. In V3, Gon//ta Go//ku//ha//ra.
Least Favorite Female Character: All DR1 girls are good, and even if they aren’t, they’re at least interesting or entertaining. But if I have to pick, Junko, if we’re judging morality. In SDR2, Mi//kan Tsu//mi//ki and Hi//yo//ko Sai//onji,in terms of morality and/or being dicks. In terms of rather poor writing (despite having a good idea), Chi//a//ki Na//na//mi. In V3, H//i//m//i//k//o Y//u//m//e//n//o and K//a//e//d//e A//k//a//m//a//t//s//u. The final one is also my least favourite in the entirety of the series as a whole.
Least Favorite Het Ship: Jun//ko//ma//e//da. In general, any Junko ship is not very good for plenty of reasons. Na//e//gi//ri. In SDR2, Souda/Sonia (she’s clearly not comfortable with him), Nidai/Akane, Hi//na//na//mi.. Not sure if should be mentioned here, but romantic Kuzupeko? Mostly because I cannot picture it as a thing. I do, however, like them platonically, they do care about each other a whole bunch. In V3, Sa//i//ma//tsu (never make me look at it).
Least Favorite Slash Ship (both M/M and F/F): Chi//hi//mon//do. Even if I do like Mondo okay, it’s not healthy. Ka//mu//ko//ma. Son//dam. Jun//ko//mi//kan? Mahiru/Peko for sure. Kiib//ou//ma, too.
And the one I guarantee I’ll receive anon hate over - Te//n//hi//mi.
Dirty Little Secret: this series somehow manages to combine the good with the ridiculous in such a way that I can accept.
Unpopular Opinion(s): I am the literal embodiment of unpopular opinions in this franchise. I think V3 is the best game of the series, and it had a brilliant twist (both the start one and the final one). I don’t really ship the most popular ships, the obvious exception being Saiouma (and, to an extent, SoniAkane? It’s a popular Akane ship, at least). I think Saihara is a far better protag choice than the other option that was presented, since the story and its structure was made to fit him. I’m the unpopular opinion and rarepair central in this fucking thing. (Please help me.)
Love Live!:
Favorite Male Character: yay for not having prominent males, which means I get to skip 2 more questions here.
Favorite Female Character: In Muse’s, my top 3 is Hanayo, Eli and Maki. In Aquors, my top 3 is You, Kanan and Dia (though Mari and Chika are also very lovable).
Favorite Slash Ship (both M/M and F/F): Makipana! It’s very very cute. I also quite like HonoEli. HonoMaki is also quite nice. In Aquors, YouKanan or DiaKanan.
Least Favorite Female Character: Not unpopular by any means, but Ni//co Ya//za//wa. In terms of singing voice, Kotori. In Aquors, R//i//k//o S//a//k//u//r//a//u//c//h//i.
Least Favorite Slash Ship (both M/M and F/F): Ni//co//ma//ki??? I will never understand why people like it. In Aquors, Chi//ka//ri//ko and You//ri//ko.
Dirty Little Secret: I quite like A-RISE. Every song they’ve ever done is an absolute banger, as the youth says.
Unpopular Opinion(s): would you look at that. Another fandom where I’m the monarch of rarepairs.

Ohh, 6, 9, 11, 19 and 25. For all the games, but if it's too hard to pick, you can have one by game :p
Thank you, Serahne!!! ^ v ^

Spoilers for V3, so these are under the cut!
6. Favorite plot twist?
DR1: Gosh, it’s a tie between Sayaka being the one killed and even planning to kill to escape the game and Naegi escaping execution!!! Bot of them realy threw me for a loop! I will say that discovering Sayaka was murdered left the greater impact, though, and was the reason I stuck to Danganronpa early on. It blew my mind at the time!
DR2: Hajime being Izuru/the “mastermind” was the most shocking thing to me! I really wasn’t expecting that??? I really came to love Hajime a lot by this point, and was feeling incredibly sorry for him already. When we were exploring the school for the last trial’s investigation and the Hope Cultivation Plan came up, I kinda figured it out. I don’t think I connected the dots completely though, ahaha. Also, just the fact that all of them were evil and responsible for spreading Despair worldwide was such a great plot twist, in my opinion!
DRAE: There weren’t many plot twists in this game, but I guess the most shocking was that Monaca was not an invalid. Like, she was pretty obviously the one running the show, and she was obsessed with Junko, but her faking being handicapped to control both her family and friends for sympathy and to get what she wanted was a genius plan on her part!
V3: I honestly didn’t like them all that much, especially Kaede not being the protag. The ending one where Tsumugi reveals everything is a lie (literally) wasn’t bad or good in my opinion. Like, I wasn’t necessarily disappointed by the ending like I thought I would be (that one was spoiled even before the game released in Japan because I couldn’t blacklist on PC and thought going through Hajime’s tag would be okay :( Damn you, dataminers!!!), I kinda just accepted that this was it. Also the trio being alive was not an exciting plot twist in the least (I love you Himiko and Maki, but your survival kinda makes me go ehhh with how the game ended). I guess that only leaves Kaito being ill and dying before his execution killed him as my favorite! I really liked how that last execution (not counting Danganronpa’s execution) was the reverse of the very first execution we see (Jin Kirigiri’s), and I already loved Kaito. It was nice that Kaito’s final goodbye was a middle finger to Danganronpa’s theme of killing the blackened with an over-the-top execution!
9. Favorite Ultimate Talent?
These are all very tough decisions…
DR1: Ultimate Biker Gang Leader! I honestly would never expect such a talent to exist, and I gotta wonder how HPA was able to gather data for that talent, hahaha. It helps that I found Mondo endearing even if he swears a bit and reacts with violence. He hast a golden heart full of regrets, and I liked his backstory! Also the talent itself is just… really cool.
DR2: Ok, so this is kinda weird, but Ultimate Lucky Student. Makoto was a totally different kind of Ultimate Lucky Student than Komaeda’s, where all-in-all he is an average guy and his luck only affects him sometimes. While that is an interesting talent, it’s not as interesting as Komaeda’s. Komaeda is probably the truest definition of Ultimate Luckster! His luck is tragic. It takes away any personal relationships and turns it into materialistic fortune. It is so powerful it warped Komaeda and his view of the world drastically. Gosh, it is very interesting and gets me wondering what could possibly happen around Komaeda because of his luck in different situations and with different people. Truly, a fascinating talent that I wouldn’t bestow on anyone!
DRAE: There were only a few people with an Ultimate Talent here, haha. I liked that Kotoko was the Ultimate Li’l Drama who actually will not perform for anyone (understandably) and the Fighter of the Group! If that counts, haha. Otherwise we only have Byakuya, Fukawa/Syo, Makoto, and Komaeda (and technically Izuru but he is on the screen for, like, 5 seconds and has every talent, so that would be boring anyways). If I had to choose between the four talents without Komaeda repeated, I think the most interesting would be Syo’s Ultimate Murderous Fiend! It’s really interesting to me that she’s a split personality of Toko. I kinda have to wonder how Toko can get exhausted easily, but Syo can slash and dash, even hurling herself several feet in the air, without breaking a sweat!
V3: It is a tie between Ultimate Anthropolgist and Ultimate Mage Magician! Unlike with the previous installments of the series, I was able to just see the talents before knowing the characters, though, so Ultimate Magician was the one that really caught my eye since I’m obsessed with Fantasy AUs, especially of the RPG kind with that class system! I’ve also always been really fasinated by Magic and magicians in general, haha. After playing the game, though, Kiyo really sold me on the Ultimate Anthropologist talent! I was a Cognitive Science major in the school within the university that focuses on the humanities, so not only am I very interested in human cognitive thinking as individuals and as a group, but I took a lot of history and some anthropology courses. I really nerded out with Kiyo and Shuichi during those FTEs! History/Folklore is truly fascinating!
11. A character you’d revive?
Alright, this is a tough one for some of these because most of the ones I liked who died died “well,” as in their story was finished and satisfying. I’d surely love to see them alive again, true, but if we are going by canon and I could only bring back one, then it almost feels cheap. Kinda like “DR3 cheap.” That makes most of these characters not my favorites, but ones i felt deserve a second chance/should have survived.
DR1: Ishimaru. He isn’t my favorite character (I’m honestly gonna place him in the “he’s ok!” range), but he clearly didn’t have any satisfying development. You can’t get FTEs from his Kiyondo form, and he dies having done very little as Kiyondo other then some inconvenience regarding Alter Ego! It would probably be super interesting to see what he would do in later chapters, and if he ever snaps out of it in the chapters after.
DR2 (assuming the DR3 anime never happened): Saionji died for nothing, let’s be real here, lol. She was just barely going to reform herself and become a better person, and then she dies, offscreen, on accident. A friend also helped me realize that we never come across her murder weapon. I think that what would have been the best solution was not having a double murder. Plus, it would make it interesting to see whether she is able to forgive Kuzuryuu at all or not, how that affects the groups trust in each other in later parts of the game (since it is really hard to get close to her since she doesn’t trust people easily), and especially her reaction to being Ultimate Despair, as well as her growth spurt.
DRAE: Chihiro’s dad Taichi. He and Yuta died for shock, but how sad would it be if he was alive and found out his son was killed? And that his son’s legacy, Alter Ego, survived? Man, what a tragedy! It would have been nice to see him tag along with Toko and Komaru to the adult’s base and maybe try to hack into devices, or slowly give upgrades to Komaru making her life a little easier. He could also join Togami and leave Towa City.  He’d be an incredible asset to Future Foundation, but he would either refuse out of grief, or he’d take time to warm up to the idea, before accepting and becoming the head of any project regarding the Neo World Program/Alter Ego Chihiro, working closely with Miaya, and keeping close to those who had been Chihiro’s friends.
V3: hmmmm, this one I don’t know for sure. It’s between Hoshi, Miu, Kiibo, and… this may surprise you, but Angie as well.
*** Angie Negativity, you can skip it ***
I hate Angie, but she honestly needs the story development. She got the most abrupt ending, another offscreen death, and no resolution. Honestly speaking, if she had a better story and some form of redemption/questioning of her actions, I would like her a lot more. She just never learned that what she did was wrong, and unlike in her FTEs, telling her “no” made her stick more to her own opinion. Like, initially I didn’t like Celeste in CH3, but I actually grew to like her because she had that backstory that made her want to be more than she was, and she anyways accepted her death in the end without being spiteful and ruining the secret of Alter Ego, even giving the others a hint of where she kept him. She was leagues a better character than Angie. Angie, I was starting to kinda accept her after finishing her FTEs when I was still in CH2 (even if I hate the racial stereotypes, what with orgies, sacrifices, etc). She really made me mad when she refused to listen to anyone else and manipulated others to agree with her (I have an extremely soft spot for Himiko and Gonta, so my bias didn’t help her at all). I’ll give her that she’s really sly and a lot smarter than she tries to let on, but  her cutesy personality combined with manipulation to convert to a religion, suggested by light brainwashing using her paintings (and the fact the others were converted overnight), all so that she can get whatever she wants, and then not seeing any kind of downfall: no backlash or consequences because of what she did? It makes me mad. I’m sorry. I hate her and yet, she is one of the people I’d revive, hahaha. Geez, I honestly tried to like her despite my initial feelings I would dislike her, lol.
*** End of Angie Negativity ***
Kiibo dying while the other three survived is something that rubs me the wrong way since he almost never got respect until he was destroying the school, even when he was one of the few character that were actually helpful during the trials. Honestly, if the others survived, which, given the ending, was kinda pointless, then him surviving as well wouldn’t detract from the impact. Seriously, if anyone deserved to survive, it would be him or Maki.
As for Miu, her death felt like a cop out, for some reason. I can’t explain it exactly… I know that her being killed was because they needed her to go after Kokichi, so that they could get him to trick Gonta to kill her, but it feels wrong somehow? Like there was unfinished business? She had the electrohammers, electrobombs, a remote control, and a bug catcher, her more amazing inventions, made after her death. All her upgrades to Kiibo were very useful, but not as amazing. A drone and the camera set up are really simple, too. Her working with Kokichi on these amazing inventions feels like a plothole instead of plausible. It would be really nice to see her survive since, despite being vulgar, she’s really entertaining! And I wonder how she’d react to being told she wasn’t real, nor was she actually a genius inventor.
And I can’t forget Hoshi! He died horribly for no reason. Kirumi could have bashed him in the head with a tennis racket, or against the wall or something, after she knocked him out. There was no need to pin the blame on anyone. The second trial p*ssed me off so much because it was unnecessarily convoluted and cruel for no reason and anyways made no sense. My heart truly goes out for Hoshi. He had a horrible life! He was imprisoned for killing the Mafiai, was a true hero, and I wish he could have learned that he could find something to live for.
So yeah, V3 was the hardest for me this question, hahaha. I honestly can’t choose between these four. BIG SIGH
If this was bot the answer you were hoping for and you just wanted to get a list of my faves who dued, it would go like this: Sakura, Komaeda, Taichi, and Kaito! Priority goes to Sakura since Ko lives post-canon, hahaha
19. Favorite Free Time Events
DR1: Alright, honestly I need to actually play this game myself. I’ve only seen LPs of the game, and the anime does not have FTEs. The only FTEs I recall are Sayaka’s, Chihiro’s, Ishimaru’s, Kyoko’s, Sakura’s, and Asahina’s. I don’t think I can really say which is my favorite, but I really like Sakura’s and Kyoko’s. I just… can’t remember most of their backstories ^^
DR2: DR2 had too many good FTEs. Komaeda’s are probably the ones I liked the most, though? I didn’t care much for Komaeda initially. He was an interesting character, and I didn’t hate him (I was very neutral). I felt like there was more to him, so when I played the game myself after abandoning the LP I was watching, I went after him first and it changed my mind completely! I like it when a character’s background is explained and matches consequences and actions the character makes during the main story, and DR2 did this really well for my taste. Komaeda’s helped explain everything and made him a sympathetic character and helped me to understand him. Of course, it also sparked the Koma/Hina shipping, hahaha. If I had to come up with a runner up, it would be Souda’s for a similar reason! His also ties really well to the main story, especially with not being able to finish his FTEs until like after CH4, after he is done doubting Hajime.
V3: I’m stuck between Kiyo and Maki’s. Kiyo’s had more of an impact on me, though, because it flipped my initial suspicion I would hate him. Him being fascinated with anthropology and teaching Shuichi about it made me seriously love him as a character even though I was sure at the time I would hate him since I was spoiled about the incest plot twist. Maki’s was really well explained and tied nicely to the game’s story. She is kinda like Komaeda, in a way, hahaha. She had a tragic backstory because of her talent, been through hell, lost someone very precious to her, and her talent makes her actively try to avoid people and trust them. And, like I said before, I like FTEs that help explain why a character reacts the way they do (although in her case, a small part of her FTEs do land up in the main story, so I say they were slightly less effective, but tied better to the story)
DRAE doesn’t have FTEs, but there are explained backstories of the kids, and I loved Nagisa. His was the most relatable, with all of that pressure to succeed, never feeling good enough.
25. Saddest Death
DR1: 100% Sakura’s!!! She’s a real gem of a character, and I wish Danganronpa had more female characters that were like her! Anyways, she was so interesting, and not just for how she looks or her talent, but that she was the traitor torn by family duty and her loyalty to her friends. She thought that the best way to end this killing game was by sacrificing herself so that the group would not be split. She was so selfless and loved so much, yet she was treated horribly in her last hours because Monokuma made sure to make her as disliked as possible. And then he spits on her death further by stealing her last letter and will so he could use Hina to make the trial more interesting. My heart goes out to her more than anyone in DR1.
DR2: My gut instinct was to say “Komaeda” or “Nanami”, but truth be told, CH2 wrecked me! Peko’s execution really got to me because, firstly, I never suspected her, and secondly, her backstory with Fuyuhiko and the fact she killed and died to save him made the execution 10 times worse to endure! I hadn’t seen her FTE’s all the way through the first time, but I saw most of them and while she hadn’t been a favorite, she had a cute personality! I really did like her!. What made her death worse was Fuyuhiko’s reaction and him trying to intervene. I’m getting shills remembering it ^^;
DRAE: Most probably Taichi! Though it is hard to choose between him and Yuta, Taichi’s was the one that was most tragic, because up to his dying breath he was so excited to be able to have the chance to meet his son again. I mean, even if he did survive, his son would still be dead, but somehow it just felt worse than Yuta’s since we seemed to get to know Taichi better (he worked at Towa for the company, we talked to him more and his love for his son).
V3: Another hard one, and it is between Kaede, Hoshi, and Gonta… I feel like none of these three should have died, or at least for Gonta and Hoshi, not the way that they did. Gonta’s was the one I felt the most emotional over leading up to his death because of the present feeling of how Kokichi betrayed him and the feeling of how it wasn’t even his fault, really. Kaede’s I felt the angriest at because she was 100 times a better protag than Shuichi and I loved her. It doesn’t help that her death was especially tragic and her execution was gruesome (not that Gonta’s wasn’t gruesome, but it was too weird for me to feel much). Hoshi’s I felt the saddest over during the trial because of just how not-fair this was. I don’t even hate Kirumi, I really hate the writers for the trial because of all the pointless and illogical parts of the case and how Hoshi was murdered, but I ranted enough about it.

Note
The sleeping after nightmares hc was super cute! If its not too much to ask, could you do the same for the DR1 boys? Thank you!
Of course! This prompt is really fun to write, and I love the DR1 boys!
Sleeping With The DR1 Boys (SFW)
Makoto Naegi
You were very straightforward with him when confronting him about your nightmares. What was there to hide?
He seemed to be very calm about it. Truthfully, he was upset, but he didn’t want you to know so because he was afraid of making things worse. So, in turn, in order to help both of your situations, he asked if you’d like him to accompany you while you slept until the nightmares got better.
He’d never asked you something like that, so you weren’t entirely sure how to respond, but of course you agreed, and thanked him.
Both of you had thrown the idea of having a sleepover around for a while now, but something always came up. This time though, he made sure nothing stood in  your way because he wanted to be there for you.
Makoto is an early sleeper, so you two went to bed fairly early. You were ready whenever he was, and falling asleep in his arms immediately made all of your fears melt away.
Something about being enclosed in his chest and feeling his hands on your shoulder blades made you feel at ease, and you had not a care in the world. You never had another nightmare again when you slept beside him.
Byakuya Togami
You didn’t exactly know how to bring up your sleeping habits. Togami was intelligent and noticed when something was wrong. He could tell by your appearance alone that you weren’t sleeping well, and your behavior was much slower and panicked.
He didn’t want to be rude and make you feel bad about the way you looked, so he approached you calmly.
“(S/O)… are you okay? Are you getting enough sleep?”
His voice was soft, and you were much more used to his serious nature. The gentleness of his tone threw you off for a moment, and you shook your head. He wasn’t having it.
Immediately, he asked if you wanted to sleep over that night, which was the first time either of you ever offered to do so. Should you accept it?
With a bit of persuasion, you did, but when it was finally time to sleep, you remained wide awake and staring at the ceiling. He began to realize you were afraid of sleeping, and asked you how come.
When you told him you were having endless nightmares, he wrapped his arms around you and embraced you, without saying another word, and held you until you were lulled to sleep.
Leon Kuwata
Being Leon, he was prone to tease you. In a loving way, of course.
That’s why when he noticed your dark circles, he poked fun and cracked what he felt to be ‘harmless’ jokes about it, thinking you’d laugh and make one back at him like always.
This was not the case, and you looked somewhat upset instead. Leon felt a pit grow in his stomach, cursing himself for making you feel bad.
He rested his hand on yours and kissed your cheek, apologizing if he upset you. In return, you forced a smile and said, “No, no, it’s okay. I had a bad dream is all.”
The pit in his stomach doubled in size; all he wanted was to make your nightmares go away.
The thought ended up crossing your mind first, and you raised a brow at him. You asked if you could sleep over for a night or two, and he seemed to be a little shocked.
Mumbling, he choked out an ‘O-okay..!’ Afterwards, you made it very clear this wasn’t a sexual thing, which he respected.
Leon loved to be the big spoon, so he spent hours that night holding you and trying his best to sing you songs until you fell asleep. It didn’t really work but… you appreciated his effort.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru
Ishimaru was always a sweetheart of a boyfriend. He loved you, and always wanted what was best for you. He’d always tell you goodnight and goodmorning no matter what, and always asked how you slept.
Normally, you told him you slept fine. Lately, you’d been having nightmares almost every night and you didn’t want to tell him at first, knowing the boy would only make it a big deal and worry his ass off.
You just couldn’t hold it in anymore, though. You broke down into tears the next time you saw him and opened up completely.
He was so scared! Why was his love crying? He did everything he could to make it better.
Out of the blue, he asked if you wanted to stay the night, in an attempt to say or do anything to help. This made you perk up, and accepted instantly. Before he knew it, he had you for the night.
ButIsn'tThatABadThingToShareABed?
You were worth it, in his eyes. Though, he made sure you were in bed at a reasonable time, and said goodnight more times than he could count on one hand.
Mondo Oowada
Mondo was a little bit air-headed, to say the least. He wasn’t the type who caught onto things as quickly as others, so he was a little confused when you seemed more down than usual. For a while, he carried on with his day without realizing that you were upset.
Actually, you brought up your nightmares in casual conversation.
Bombarded with questions.
“W-what? Why are you having nightmares? Is there anything I can do? How can I help? What are they about? Is something going on? Are you okay?”
He only ever showed his soft side to you and you only, anyone else who saw it immediately made him defensive. As soon as you told him what was going on, he turned into one big teddy bear.
You two cuddled a lot but never got the chance to actually share a bed together. So, when you did, he ended up being a big teddy bear then, too.
He completely engulfed you and made you feel warm and protected, like nothing could ever hurt you. To say the least, you loved how good he was at cuddling, and you didn’t even think about your nightmares once that night.
And, getting to hear his raspy morning voice was definitely a bonus.
Chihiro Fujisaki
Whenever you were upset, or something got under your skin, Chihiro’s bubbly attitude cheered you up.
When your spirits couldn’t be lifted, though, he began to get emotional. Was he doing something wrong? He felt awful, and thought you were resenting him.
Kissing him quickly, you insisted that that was not the case at all! “I just… have these terrible nightmares that are keeping me up and getting to me during the day.”
You’d think he would feel better that it wasn’t him, but he was still emotional, moreso now knowing that you were hurt. To be fair, you’d never ask him to do anything for you, but asked if he’d like to stay the night, figuring it would make both of you feel better.
Gleefully, he did, and brought movies, and snacks of all kind, along with him.
Both of you ended up falling asleep during your movie night, facing one another and holding each other gently. His soft breathing beside you made you feel at ease, and somehow comforted you.
Neither of you realized you’d even fallen asleep until you woke up the next morning.
The best part of it all was waking up to his beaming, blushing smile. “No nightmares!” He exclaimed, kissing you goodmorning.
Hagakure Yasuhiro
You loved your boyfriend to pieces but he was just so… out of it sometimes.
You had to repeat yourself over and over again before he caught on to what you were saying, as you told him about the bad dream you had.
“Well, I sort of had a feeling you wouldn’t be able to sleep, call it a vision if you must.” With that, you smacked his chest playfully.
He continued, “In fact, my visions are coming to me now, I believe you’ll have another bad dream tonight. Maybe you should come over and sleep beside me tonight, and they’ll go away.”
SMOOTH.
You giggled and agreed, only slightly believing that he was right. Despite being a SHSL Clairvoyant, he wasn’t very skilled at what he did.
You fell asleep with him being the big spoon and leaving kisses all over the back of your neck, and told him the next morning that you had no bad dreams.
“I guess my vision  wasn’t right… oops.” Another chest smack.
In all honesty, you were a bit anxious to bring up the fact that your nightmares came back to him. You didn’t want him to get the wrong idea, and oh you were so aware of how likely that was to happen.
Hifumi Yamada
You had to nail it into his brain that by ‘sleeping together,’ you literally meant sleeping together.
Then had to sit through one of his monologues about 2D versus 3D.
You didn’t complain, though. You trusted Hifumi with all your heart, and he was very, very respectful about everything that night.
The best part was the sleepy cuddling, and how warm and soft he was, and how that alone made you fall asleep almost immediately. Though, he moved around when he slept, it never disturbed you.
Falling asleep beside him was the best feeling in the world.

Akane Owari and Mukuro Ikusaba
Last ones youhou !
Akane
Why I like them : I can enjoy her straight-forwardness.
Why I don’t : As a lot of characters in sdr2, she doesn’t really matter. She doesn’t really do anything either. Also the ‘super-hot-girl-who-eats-a-lot-isn’t-it-great’ is not my favorite. But again, most of the girls gets sexist tropes that annoys me, so I should just wave if off.
Favorite episode (scene if movie) : I can’t say, really. Maybe chapter 2 when she is the one says that ‘a ninja’ could reach the window in the bathroom ?
Favorite season/movie : Not really sure.
Favorite line : In the last investigation, when Hajime asks her if people coming are friends or ennemies, when she is like ‘both, I think’.
Favorite outfit : Hum, she only has one. Not the most original design.
OTP : Nidai
Brotp : Hum, she doesn’t really have a lot of interractions with others. Maybe Sonia and Hinata ?
Head Canon : She feels responsible for her siblings, since she used to take care of them when she was home, and she is going to look for them post-canon !
Unpopular opinion : For all I’m not a big fan of her, can we appreciate that she is the only female character who is not just passively sexualized but owns it ? That makes her the less popular candidate for being a waifu, since nothing is more scary for the target audience of DR than a girl who isn’t a passive doll in this field, but she is almost a bug in the machine ( which might have been because she was supposed to be an antagonist at first, I don’t know )
A wish : That she had some developement through the game ?
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen : I just can’t see her staying on the boat/island forever. This girl needs action, let her make her moves ~
5 words to best describe them : Over-energetic woman fights everthing
My nickname for them : I don’t have one !
Mukuro
Why I like them : Fun fact : when I think about who I would get along with dr1, Junkuro is the first one coming to mind ( she really reminds me of my friends ) and I don’t know what to think about it.
Why I don’t : We really don’t know anything about her.
Favorite episode (scene if movie) : Dr3 did a lot of bad things, but this fight between Peko and Mukuro, though.
Favorite season/movie : Dr1, chapter 1 ?
Favorite line : When she says that Naegi is an omega male, I suppose. Not sure if that counts like a line, but her singing in dr3 is beautiful ~
Favorite outfit : I’m sorry but her costume as Junko :P
OTP : I don’t have one.
Brotp : Matsuda, Junko. Maybe Peko because why not
Head Canon : Her and Junko’s family was abusive, which is why she ran away when she was a child. Her guilt to have left Junko behind was so big that she basically accepted to follow her anywhere after that.
Unpopular opinion : I didn’t read If so I don’t know. She isn’t a good person. Is that an unpopular opinion ?
A wish : That her character wasn’t such joke in dr3, honestly.
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen : As always with people who are dead I don’t know how to answer that.
5 words to best describe them : Badass Soldier with Family Problem
My nickname for them : Don’t have one !

after reading more about ouma, i had some questions. it was revealed at the end of the game that the characters had been brainwashed. knowing who he was before, was ouma a genuinely bad and sadistic person in the killing game since his personality was warped? i thought so until learning that he tried to stop the killing game after all. why did he do this? did he know he was being broadcasted? also, why did he ask momota to kill him? did he not want to survive the game? or was it a plan? thanks!!
It’s normal to have these kinds of questions, especiallywith all the fake spoilers floating around out there still! Ouma is anextremely complex character, and on a first playthrough it’s very easy to sortof fall into the same pitfalls the other characters do and assume that he’sdoing the things he does just because he’s an asshole or a sadist who gets offon it.
But answering this question in full requires going in-depthwith what Ouma’s personality and motivations were like, as well as how heworked within the game. There’s no denying that he’s an extremely morallyambiguous character. Ouma is someone who is definitely willing to make cold, hard, practical choices, as well as to put on an act that will terrify or hurtothers if it means accomplishing his end objectives. He’s neither good nor bad,but morally grey all around—the reason there’s so much black and white imagerywith him in particular out of all the characters is precisely because in a gamethat is constantly trying to string the characters between “truth vs. lies,” or“hope vs. despair,” Ouma works in a middle ground, constantly.
Still, there are definite aspects to his personality whichare cleared up and confirmed by the clues and evidence presented by thenarrative. That’s why as a short answer I can say this with certainty: Ouma wasnot a genuinely bad person, nor washe a sadist. He was absolutely notevil, and he didn’t do the things he did to cause chaos or to make the otherssuffer. I’ll be explaining why under the read more, but of course, there willbe lots of spoilers for the entire game, so read at your own risk!
The first thing to address is the brainwashing. Unlike dr3’sbrainwashing, which impacted pretty much all the reserve course students andthe sdr2 characters in almost the exact same way across the board, the use ofbrainwashing is different and much more subjective in ndrv3. Remember lightsare used to implant memories and backstories into the characters, and thereforeto make it more likely that they might react or think in a certain way, butthey never really serve as a surefire guarantee.
Knowing that the remember lights are fake, or simplydoubting the credibility of the information they provide in the first place, ispretty much enough to dispel any sway they might have over the characters. Tsumugiherself admits in Chapter 6 that if the students were to execute Kiibo andchoose to live in the school and “continue” the killing game (very similar todr1’s bad ending in Chapter 5), she could provide them all a bunch of newremember lights, but they probably wouldn’t ever kill again. After all, theremember lights would no longer serve as a motive for anything. So basically, they’d be able to live peacefully without anyone ever believing the fakememories they were provided.
Ouma is confirmed to pretty much doubt the credibility ofhis memories almost from the start. As one of the only characters whoconsistently brings up lies, he doubts absolutely everything around him, including not only the other characters, but his own brain, memory, talent, etc. Even in his earliest FTEs with Kaede and Saihara, he constantly dropslines about how lies can become reality, if they’re accepted as such by enoughpeople, and encourages them to question the authenticity of absolutelyeverything in the world around them.
It makes sense, then, that the brainwashing never worked onOuma in the same way that it did on the others. Every time a new remember lightwas given to them, providing new “memories” about the outside world or theirbackstories, Ouma was one of the only characters who doubted the information, seeking instead to investigate on his own and confirm things with his own twoeyes.
He’s extremelyperceptive and intelligent as a character, which was also probably a factor inwhy the remember lights never quite impacted him the same way as the others. I’vewritten multiple pieces of meta on just how scarily intelligent he is, but thegist of it is this: he’s so frighteningly good at predicting the actions andbehaviors of others, and he’s so far ahead of the rest of the group in terms ofplanning and strategizing, that I think there’s ample room to believe that hisreal talent was something along the lines of “SHSL Chessmaster”—something similarto Junko and Kamukura’s SHSL Analysis, but much more likely to deal in terms ofhypotheticals and predicting the moves and strategies of the people around him.
Ouma’s SHSL Supreme Leader talent was definitely fake, notonly in terms of being implanted via remember lights, but also in the sensethat his “secret, evil organization” literally does not exist. Even in-game, DICE was merely a group of 11 memberscounting Ouma himself, and they ran around committing petty crimes and pranksfor the thrill of it all, and to get a good laugh out of it. They wereliterally a bunch of friends wearing clown masks and making a big ruckus.
Both in-game and even in the bonus mode content, there aretons of indications as to the fact that Ouma’s really not a “Supreme Leader” ofanything, although he certainly has the charisma and commanding personality onewould associate with a leader. In his bonus mode interaction with Komaeda, evenKomaeda’s SHSL Luck cannot find anythingon any secret organizations in the real world of which Ouma might be a part of.Even the ndrv3 demo had Naegi allude to and suggest that Ouma’s talent was onlylisted as SHSL Supreme Leader, and that the real deal might be something else. Therefore, I think SHSL Chessmaster is still the best possible fit.
Using his ability to analyze and predict various situations,Ouma tried at every twist and turn to stop the killing game. This iscanonically confirmed, not just my own personal opinion. No matter how muchpeople might want to doubt Ouma’s last words to Momota in Chapter 5, the factof the matter is his whiteboard and all the evidence from past investigationsin his room prove that he was trying to pinpoint the real ringleader and put astop to the game the entire time.
His motive video from Chapter 2, also found in his roommuch, much later on during Chapter 6, also confirms this. And it doubles asconfirmation that Ouma was in no way a sadist and could not possibly haveenjoyed watching people die. His motive video provides the clearest informationpossible on DICE, and as part of his in-game backstory, it is made explicitlyclear that Ouma and DICE had an absolute taboo against killing people. Theirpranks were meant for fun, not for hurting others.
Therefore, when Ouma tells Momota that he hated the killinggame the entire time, and that he had to lie to himself to pretend that he wasenjoying it and that it was fun or else he wouldn’t have been able to survive, there’sno way to read this other than as Ouma telling the truth. What’s more, Oumaconfesses this to Momota with no crocodile tears, no cheap ploys for sympathy, absolutely nothing. He says it very straightforwardly, and while literally onthe verge of dying from being slowly torturedto death by the poison. There was no reason for him to lie there, and allthe facts and evidence point to him telling the truth.
Because of how completely against killing others Ouma was,he found the killing game repulsive in every single way. This is the first andforemost reason that he wanted to put a stop to it. The problem was thatbecause of the scenario the killing game created, and because it was impossibleto trust anyone but himself, he could not and would not open up to others abouthis plans. Ouma wanted to stop not only the current killing game they were in,but all the killing game shows to come—because he definitely did know about thebroadcast.
As perceptive as Ouma was, he realized early on that becauseMonokuma was following a specific set of rules and guidelines, and treating thewhole situation as a “game,” it followed that that “game” was being shown toothers. Probably from almost the beginning, he guessed that the whole thing wasa show being put on for an audience, and because he was very smart and anincredible actor, he played to the whims of that audience and put on afantastic show of being a villain, enjoying the killing game, and being anall-around incredibly fun “character” who they would want to see more of.
In Chapter 3 in particular, he outright confirms that heknows it’s all being broadcast. Multiple times in the post-trial, he dropsfairly ominous lines, including one literally along the lines of, “If there areany people out there watching this, I bet they’re having so much fun, they justcan’t help themselves!” This can be read just as Ouma breaking the fourth wallon a first playthrough (and it is, in part), but it’s also definitely him addressing the ndrv3 audience themselves. He knewabout the broadcast, he knew that there were people taking a sick, sadisticpleasure in their suffering, and he dedicated pretty much every waking momentin the killing game to trying to put a stop to the show they were all in onceand for all.
Of course, in making such a desperate resolution, we comeback to the matter of Ouma being morally grey as a character. Because he waswilling to go to any lengths to strike back against the killing game show as aconcept, and at the real ringleader, and because he was willing to do whateverit took, he wound up crossing certain lines that couldn’t be uncrossed.
Initially, I think he played into his antagonistic, villainrole in part because he knew it would unify the group, and because he couldstay out of the ringleader’s radar as long as they thought he was genuinelyjust a puppet who was enjoying himself in the chaos—and ultimately, it was easyfor him to believe that he “was doing the right thing” even if it meant beinghated, because he knew that he was not the ringleader. As long as he himself knewhe was trying to stop the game, he didn’t care much about what the othersthought.
However, this mindset became harder to maintain the longerthe game progressed, and it culminated to a boiling point in Chapter 4. Afterthat, it backfired pretty spectacularly. Because Miu made up her mind to killhim and try to escape to the outside world (an outside world in which there wasabsolutely no point in getting out to, although she didn’t know this), Ouma wasforced to come down to a hard decision: he could either let himself be killedand risk Miu getting everyone killed at the school trial, or he could usesomeone else as a sacrificial pawn to kill Miu, so that he himself couldsurvive a little longer and keep investigating the killing game.
Either way, however, people had to die. No matter how helooked at it, sacrifices had to be made. He consciously made the decision tostrike back at Miu, and he used Gonta to do so, and as a result, the two ofthem died, and this is not something Ouma himself ever shies away or refuses toadmit to. It was unforgivable, not only from an objective standpoint, but tohimself as well, because even if he used indirect means, he still stained hishands. By getting Miu and Gonta killed, even if it was in order to survive, heviolated his and DICE’s number one most important rule of “not killing others,”and that was the exact point at which he started to believe that he himself wasno better than the real ringleader.
Even if we as the players can recognize that that objectively wasn’ttrue, Ouma clearly believed it was. And as he himself says within his FTEs,lies can become “reality” if they’re recognized as such. He really, trulythrows himself into the villain role after Chapter 4 and throughout most ofChapter 5, letting himself be hated on an entirely different scale than before, not only because he’s more desperate than ever to end the killing game show, but also because he really, honestly hated himself. Again, this isn’t just mespouting a personal opinion. All the canonical evidence backs this up.
Because of this self-loathing, and because the killing gamewas jumpstarted into action again by Maki literally right after he had just putan end to it, Ouma was very, very tired in Chapter 5. He did want to survivethe game, expose the real ringleader, and put a stop to the broadcast once andfor all—but he was also exhausted with the implications of what that wouldentail. After all, if he wanted to survive in that scenario, the only way to doso was to get Maki executed, and to let Momota die in his place by drinking theantidote himself. And doing such, in his opinion, would be no better than thestunts he pulled in Chapter 4.
Ouma did not wantto repeat the same situation he had done with Miu and Gonta. He tried doing “whateverit took” in order to survive—and he hated it. So even though he had a perfectopportunity to get rid of Maki once and for all by exposing her as the culpritwho killed Momota and tried to kill him too, and even though he certainly didn’towe her or Momota anything, he willingly let himself be killed. Because eventhough he did want to survive, there was a much larger part of him that was sick and tired of getting people hurt and killed, and he was undeniablysuicidal as a result.
In Chapter 6, when Saihara investigates Ouma’s room, there literally a suicide note, cheekily titled “This is (not) a suicide note.” All of thepapers and clues left in Ouma’s room led to even more hints which he hadscattered throughout the school carefully, always making sure not to be noticedby the ringleader, and he clearly put a great amount of forethought into howbest to lead Saihara and the others to the truth even “in case” of his death. Consideringjust how good at predicting the mostlikely scenarios and outcomes Ouma was (and he was good enough to write a300-or-so-page script for Momota to use in the Chpater 5 trial which containedmulti-route scenarios and predictions of how literally all the other characterswould react), it follows that Ouma had probably been thinking about the possibilityof his own death. For some time, too.
So in the end, he let himself be killed even though he hadample opportunity not to do so, because he valued Maki’s life more than hevalued resorting to “whatever it took” to stay alive once again. He left Momotawith his script and with a plan to strike back at the real ringleader, andultimately left enough clues so that Saihara and the others would definitely beable to solve the Chapter 5 trial—hoping that they would instead piece thingstogether and fight against the ringleader of their own accord in the nextchapter instead. And this, of course, is ultimately exactly what happened.
This is very long, but I hope I provided a pretty goodsummary and explanation of Ouma’s character thus far. I tried to incorporate alot of the things I’ve talked about in other pieces, and hopefully I made itpretty easy to follow. Thank you for asking, anon! I hope this clears up someof your questions!

Jess’s Thoughts on V3: Chapter 1
Sorry I lapsed on my liveblog, but until my girlfriend headed home I didn’t have a lot of time to play so I was getting outstripped by the stream. Speaking of, I should probably get this post done before tonight, on the off-chance we finish the trial (HAHA).
Will try to resume liveblogging starting with Chapter 2.
Beware of spoilers!!
Still feeling pretty fuzzy and blah in the head, so going to do this bullet point style like the good ol’ DR3 days, haha.
First, the ivory (and ebony) in the room: yeah, I’m pretty pissed that instead of a character way more relatable to me, I’m once again shackled to some wimpy loser boy with insecurity issues. Kodaka, I get that that’s how you were in high school but come on, man. I’m here for newness. I am also neither a boy nor a wimpy loser (my insecurities manifest through overachieving rather than uber moe shyness) so I’m getting awful tired of this trope. RIP Akamatsu Kaede. You had just a touch too much personality to be a DR protag.
That said, I do think that the case was really well designed and even though I figured it out pretty soon into the trial (I was sitting there for most of it screaming 自動的に!じ・ど・う・て・き・に!!! while they were discussing how someone could have killed Amami), the mystery itself was set up really well.
I also liked that the game took care to actually address the question of “Why didn’t you confess immediately?” and “Why tease the answer out of us instead of just admitting it?” since those were also things that bothered me in the so-called “heroic” cases in games past.
I’m also pretty annoyed that my favorite Monokumar is gone now too, but Monodam is quickly endearing himself to me anyway so it’s fine. RIP Monokid. I will scream HERU YEAH! in your place for the remainder of the game.
Man, you know what would have been really great? Changing the protag to Hoshi. Then you could drop the first person view to the weirdly short one from DR1 and SDR2 and it could be like an in joke. Take notes, Kodaka.
Oh right, I didn’t say anything about Amami being the victim yet. Since he was toward the bottom of my character ranking I wasn’t too broken up about it, and I accept the sacrifice of Green Komaeda as payment for me giving up Akamatsu. This at least seems somewhat fair.
My other faves though (HaruMaki, Hoshi, Toujou, Gokuhara, and Iruma) are all still alive for the time being, so yay!
Damn, dat execution though. I loved it--it was brutal and more realistic than most of the others, but still with some of the grandiosity you’d expect from DR-style executions.
I don’t hate Saihara, but I do find him pretty bland so far, especially compared to the rest of the cast. I liked when he went to the piano room to listen to the CD, but other than that I know next to nothing about him despite him being attached to my hip for most of the game so far. I was hoping that his hat was like a treasured gift from someone but no, it’s just because of his guilt over essentially solving a Duel Noir once. His hang up is not being confident in himself. Pretty yawn-worthy. So far he feels like a waste of a really cool design and a fantastic seiyuu. Hopefully he’ll get better as the game goes on.
The part post-trial where someone (HaruMaki?) asks if Monokuma hates them and Monokuma responds “Hate you? Hrm, who knows” reminds me a lot of Junko’s “I love you all so much I wanted you to share my exquisite despair” motivations so I’m pretty excited by that.
On that subject, I found Shirogane’s allergic reaction to cosplaying real people hilarious, and it makes me wonder if the Kibougamine-verse counts as real or fictional in the V3 world. Fingers are still crossed for Junko cosplay.
Chabashira isn’t too bad with her misandry, actually, which is a relief. It’s way more toned down than I thought it’d be.
Kinda want to see what would happen to either Ouma or Kiibo if one or the other died. I get that I’m supposed to take the Monodam killing Monokid thing as foreshadowing, but it feels kind of red herring-esque to me.
Momota is pretty damn likable.
I loved the Monokuma Theater segments this time, especially the backdrops. The fact that the old timey one had a tiny image of Celes on the card was fantastic.
Am now the not-so-proud owner of several gyouza in the shape of Naegi’s face. No really, I have SO MANY.
I imagine some people will take/have taken this chapter really hard because of their shipping walls and to that I say: who cares, ship what you want. I plan to. Don’t worry too much about your ship not being canon because seriously people, it doesn’t really matter.
tl;dr, I’m disappointed in that I lost two characters I like and they’re forcing me to play as the living character I’m least invested in, but the writing is still solid and I’m interested to see where things go.
BOLD PREDICTIONS!
It’s still possible that this is all just a dream or a hallucination. “It was all a dream” is a stupid twist right up there with “My evil twin did it” and “The Matrix” from previous games after all.
Still nothing to suggest that the new cast aren’t reincarnations or relatives of the existing cast, which if things go in that direction, I hope they choose to do it in an interesting way at least.
I am crazy suspicious of both Angie and Shirogane. The former because she’s a ditz and you first find her in the Altar of Judgement, and the latter because she has this uncanny ability to pop up right around when discussion of the mastermind is happening. Like, Saihara says that he was wrong in his deduction and Shirogane is immediately like “So the mastermind isn’t someone among us???” Stuff like that. In addition, there was that bonus scene with the nail brush you get for having played the demo, which yes gives both Akamatsu and Amami more screentime, but it also randomly involves Shirogane?
Still think that all these kids could have been picked up from various points in time and possibly space.
Also kind of thinking it’d be funny if it were like...Junko writing fanfiction or something. That’d be pretty fantastic.
Oh yeah! My “it’s an rp” idea is still on the table as well.
Anyway, that’s about it I think? Thanks for reading!

The Hinata/Kamukura Files - Makoto
Written for @the-hinata-project
Day 4: Awakened Hinata -or- White/Snow/Shiny
Rating: G
Warnings: Mild identity issues for obvious reasons
Notes: I don’t write enough Naegi-kun. It’s a good thing he was the obvious pick for this day’s prompt. Since last year just focused on the sdr2 survivors, it is nice to write about the dr1 kids because they, too, are a good bunch. But Naegi’s relationship to the sdr2 kids in general and to Kamukura/Hinata by extension is rife with untapped potential. This, again, was a lot of fun so I hope you all enjoy reading, too. :>

In the sparkling, glitching light within the simulation, the AI of my former classmate lamented. Tired, overworked, and exhausted, it was easy to see she really had just been a recreation all this time. I suck in my breath, and look towards the former Ultimate Hope, who was shining brightly.
Shining like the sun, eyes a passionate, burning red, the one who called himself Hinata Hajime-kun grinned.
And I smiled back.
“See, Togami-kun?” I asked cheekily. “They pulled through.”
“Some of them,” he retorted.
“Let’s not count those other others out yet,” Kirigiri-san remarked kindly. “Since they’re ready, let’s begin the shutdown.”
There was nothing to do but agree, leaving behind the simulated Jabberwock, the simulated Hope’s Peak, and the program that by all accounts was a major failure—but still worked out where it mattered.
Hinata-kun and the others were proven to be capable to overcome despair, to face the future head on in spite of everything. That was enough. More than enough.
Even if the rest of the Future Foundation refused to accept it, I’ll insist on it until the end of time. Until they at least have to bend if not outright break.
The program shut down. I woke up first, alongside Kirigiri-san and Togami-kun. Kirigiri-san helped me up, Togami-kun grumbling all the while.
“We’re not out of the woods yet, Naegi,” he pointed out. “The simulation shutdown was only the beginning.”
“I know, I know! But you could’ve said that about us escaping the second killing game! I’ve got a good feeling then and I’ve got a good feeling now!”
“Ever the insect, satisfied with just survival.” Togami-kun huffed. “While Kirigiri and I will have to do everything we can to keep the Future Foundation head from killing you for your insolence.”
“No, it was my plan, so I’ll be the one to talk to them,” I argue. “You and Kirigiri-san have done enough.”
“By choosing to accompany you on your ridiculous mission to save the remnants of despair, we’ve labeled ourselves traitors as well. Don’t be so foolish as to suggest our involvement can simply cease here.”
“Togami-kun is correct about that,” Kirigiri-san sighed, brushing back her hair. “But, it was for our former upperclassmen. For Hinata-kun and the others. No matter what happens to us now, Naegi-kun won’t regret any of it.”
“Absolutely not! Because! Hinata-kun and our upperclassmen—still have hope and a future! I won’t let anyone take that away!”
It was a decision I made without question. The second I met Hinata Hajime-kun—or rather, Kamukura Izuru-kun at the time.
“Do you truly believe you can save anyone?” he had asked, coldly and blankly. “You had failed with that woman, hadn’t you?”
“I’m willing to save anyone who wants to be saved,” I replied without hesitating. Because it was true, wasn’t it? As long as a person was willing to push through, I’d do anything to support them. I knew that with all my heart.
And, perhaps, Kamukura Izuru-kun had saw how serious I was just from whatever expression I made at the time.
All that—and I didn’t know he’d be erased by the program created to save them.
I don’t have any regrets trying to help anyone, I don’t have any regrets doing everything I could to save them—but I did wish I knew of a way to protect both of them.
Even though it was likely that, as with Enoshima-san, Kamukura Izuru-kun similarly didn’t want to be saved.
When thinking that, my steps quickened towards the pod as it began to drain. It unlatched automatically and I practically scrambled forward.
“K-Kamukura-kun! Hinata-kun!”
The person within the pod stirred, face scrunching up.
“I, I...” I can hesitate now. I can flinch as the other slowly pushes himself up. My heart’s pounding, and it’s now that I feel overwhelmed enough with everything to cry.
“Hinata-kun,” Kirigiri-san calls, calm as ever. Reassuring as ever. “Or Kamukura-kun?”
“I...” The person hesitates, too, and then, slowly but surely, mismatched eyes begin to open. One side hazel. The other side crimson. “I should not be awake as well—Kamukura Izuru should not be... Hinata Hajime—Kamukura Izuru, Hinata Hajime, Kamukura Izuru, Hinata Hajime, Kamukura Izuru, Hinata HajIME—!”
I grab his trembling hands quickly.
“Breathe, breathe. Shhh, shhhh. It’s okay, it’s okay.” I squeeze and stroke his knuckles, smiling in spite of how pale and taut they were against his bones. “You’re here. You’re awake. That’s all that matters. You’re here. You’re awake. Don’t lose hope. You still have a future.”
“Some cognitive dissonance if not collapse would have been accounted for if we had known the truth,” Kirigiri-san murmurs. Togami-kun scoffs.
“But as long as that idiot can function remotely similar to a human, we should consider ourselves fortunate, then?”
“The others should be waking soon, Togami-kun. Let’s leave him to Naegi-kun for now as we check on them.”
“Hmph.”
I barely hear their strides over heavy breathing, my own heart hammering, the other shuddering. Inhale, exhale, inhale. I mirror him thoughtlessly, and that seems to help.
“Naegi...Makoto... Right?” His voice is almost as disoriented as it is distorted, but then, that person’s gaze sharpens to focus. “Did you know this would happen?”
“I might have hoped for it,” I admitted a little sheepishly. “While I wanted Hinata-kun to live on, of course, I didn’t want Kamukura-kun to simply disappear. I’m sorry. I’ll think of a way that both of you can—”
My mouth is covered. I immediately froze.
“Sorry. Your voice, it’s...just a lot at once.” That hand is removed slowly. “The weather outside—how is it?”
“It’s cloudy,” I answer, tasting residue on my lips and ignoring it. “It’s pretty cold. But, I can take you to a window later. For now, we need to get you washed off, dressed, and... Ah. Right. I should probably say good morning since you just woke up, right? What do you want me to call you?”
“Guess.” A wry smile pulls across his lips. “You’re lucky, right?”
“Aha.” I didn’t know about that—but I knew what he meant, so I smiled back. “Good morning. Hinata-kun. Kamukura-kun. Welcome back.”
“It’s good to be back, Naegi. Thanks.”

komahina (haha this should go without saying but i haven't seen yet your complete thoughts why you like them soo :'D)
Dang, I’m not even sure if you’d get my full thoughts here because it’s not like I remember every reason why I love them every moment of the day! But, like, anywayyy…
I think these two are soulmates and meant to be. I think they look good together, both aesthetically and on paper because their personalities are complementary. I also think they have a lot more chemistry than people give them credit for. If you don’t like the pairing, then that’s fine, but to just brush their connection as fujoshi bait is…really narrow-minded.
Like, sdr2 kind of makes it a point that Komaeda and Hinata do have a lot in common and have a deep sense of understanding even if the actual execution can be hit or miss. For example the stage did a much better job of showing this understanding than the game did. And before you say the stage doesn’t count as canonical, it was written by Kodaka so it’s at least legitimate as a retelling. Moving on, you can see how similar these two are even in something as simple as official art and sprites showing these two as mirroring one another. So, at the very least, it’s obvious that Komaeda and Hinata are meant to be seen as foils and doppelgangers.
That’s already really appealing to me on it’s own. Hell, it’s why I love Komaegi so much, even if those two have different similarities than these two. So what makes KomaHina extra special?
Weeeeell, they actually interact on a significant level, for one thing, and they build one another’s personalities further. Hinata’s someone who is pushed to his potential by Komaeda, who challenges him and is not content to letting Hinata close his eyes and ears to the truth when things get too uncomfortable. And Hinata, to an extent, does the same for Komaeda even if it’s without meaning to, by challenging his worldview and showing him someone who does want and mean to understand him, is even willing to showcase the patience to do so, and become significant to him and to everyone else…even though he’s nothing more than a talentless nobody who should be barred from this kind of thing. No one else challenges these two in these ways, because no one else willingly shows Komaeda this level of patience and proactivity and for Hinata, everyone else is even more willing to be compliant with accepting what’s “easy” rather than what’s “true”. Nanami’s a bit better at this, but she also encourages Hinata to rely more on her when Komaeda absolutely refuses to be that kind of crutch when the situation is this serious and you have to rely on your own strengths if you want to get as far as you can.
Thing is, Komaeda very easily could be a crutch to an extent with his intelligence making him a valuable asset rivaling that of Kirigiri, who Naegi really had to rely on for a significant amount of dr1, not to mention prior to the Chapter 1 Trial, Komaeda was most certainly the one Hinata relied the most on to get his footing, taking him around the island and acting as a mediator of sorts between him and the other students. There was also his first FTE, which showed Komaeda as very encouraging and comforting, being able to calm Hinata despite the tense situation and able to help him loosen up quite a bit. So yeah, Komaeda could be as cozy and welcoming as Nanami…but that approach just doesn’t work for the long-term. And while short-term works for Nanami, it just doesn’t work for Komaeda. And, honestly, I think long-term’s pretty important for Hinata, too, especially since with how responsible Hinata is for a lot of things (like the other sdr2 kids), and how the tragedy began because Hinata couldn’t rely on himself…finding his own strength for the long-term is not only advisable, it’s essential. The kind of challenge Komaeda provides is just as necessary for Hinata’s well being as the challenge Hinata provides is for Komaeda’s. In my perspective, anyway.
Also their banter is adorable, like, holy shit, it’s so good?? The theater scenes are like, honestly among my favorite parts of the main game easily with how funny they are. And there’s so much else to go on about like… The underlying tragedy of how these two could have been such good friends, but then the trials ruined that, which was showcased so heartbreakingly in the stage in the clip I linked, and also, just like the absolute tragedy that was Chapters 4-5 in which Komaeda utterly breaks from realizing the horrible truth and yet still doesn’t completely push Hinata away even though he ends up sacrificing himself horrendously all the same is just… AAAAAHHHH. And you have zanka and poison which are both about Komaeda’s feelings towards Hinata and it’s just… AAAAAHHHH. Also Dangan Island is just…so cute. So good. So pure. The Dangan Island manga has a chapter focused on Komaeda, and it’s also so good so pure. That chapter of Beautiful Days that focused on them? So good. So pure. Such a good showcase of just how great these two are for each other!! Please look at them if you haven’t and love KomaHina!!
KomaHina is very, very good and seriously deserves the happy ending it got. Dr3 wasn’t so bad after all!! Amazing!
