This text can drop you into trance, your ability to choose may be significantly reduced. May be your resistence is going to be lost for some time. In the end there is a reward. May be you will drop into trance without knowing it. This erotic hypno script is experimental and may lead you to commenting and feeling very hot. If you are not ok with it do not continue.

Andy Serkis, of course, as *the* expert in motion-capture acting ever since he first played Gollum 20+ years ago, is a shapeshifter in ways beyond even most character actors to achieve.

He's also a high-level shapeshifter by normal character actor methods -- when I saw him in Black Panther (I think possibly the only place I've seen him wearing his own face, me not being a great moviegoer at the best of times), there was only one brief moment where an expression that reminded me of Gollum flickered through.

Recently, it turned out that a free trial of Amazon Prime which I happened to have running could be converted into a second free book credit on Audible if I should take a free trial there. I've been curious for some time about the 2021 audiobook of LOTR performed by Andy Serkis, and while trying to get my sleep schedule right way up for job-hunting purposes, I've been working on listening to his Fellowship of the Ring. (I've just reached Moria.)

It's a straight-up audiobook, not a play, by the technical definition: one performer, no music or added special effects. But *damn*, you want to talk about shapeshifting? Serkis does startlingly accurate impressions of every actor in the Peter Jackson movies, plus unique voices for characters with no movie casting, and he sings the songs that are described as having tunes.

(I don't have the ear to tell whether he's using new compositions or some kind of traditional tunes, except that I can say for certain he doesn't use Tolkien's rendition of "A fox went out on a winter's night" for Sam's "Troll Song". If anyone with a better ear than mine happens to investigate, I'd be delighted to know what's discovered.)

His narratorial voice isn't 100% Jirt, which is a Choice, but one I honestly support. The Professor had a thick Old English accent which would probably be a chore to listen to or perform for 60+ hours of total audiobook length. Serkis seems to be using something close to his natural Middlesex accent for the narration, as far as I can tell, but there are enough of the familiar Tolkienian twists (like using the "o" sound from the word "tossed" in "shone" and "wroth") that I'm favorably impressed so far.

His Elvish pronunciation isn't perfect, but it's solidly movie-quality (positive); you'd likely have to be me, with a quarter-century and counting of Sindarin as a second language, to snag on the tiny things I'm snagging on, stuff like the Finnish-style double-length "m" in Remmirath or the "eth" sound represented by the "dh" in Caradhras. (There is properly no D sound in Caradhras; the middle consonant sound should be that of the "th" in "these clothes", but I've never actually heard anyone besides myself say it that way.) He gets a lot of the tricky sounds correct, better than I do when I'm being sloppy, like the long-i-adjacent diphthong in Edain or the broad second A in Gandalf.

Also, the unique voices and the vocal effects he brings in for certain scenes are just... I don't even have words. The Barrow-Wight is as terrifying as it was when I was ten. Tom Bombadil sings about 95% of his dialogue, which I've never imagined any performance acknowledging unless it were the hypothetical LOTR opera I suggest every so often, but goddamn if he doesn't somehow make it work. For the movie-cast voices, he flips so smoothly between the mishmash of accents that I keep forgetting I'm not actually listening to a full-cast play with Billy Boyd's chirpy Glaswegian, Sean Bean's gruff Yorkshire, and Sean Astin's earnest put-on West Country all complete.

As for the lowest bar, the reason I refuse to recommend Rob Inglis's older unabridged audiobooks as an entry point -- Inglis regularly inserts contractions that aren't in the original text, turning the formal tone of scenes where "cannot" and "will not" are important signifiers into something incongruously conversational. I do not forgive that kind of alteration in a text where the formality level, and the changes between levels, are such an incredibly fundamental part of what's being conveyed. Serkis has already successfully cleared one dialogue point where it would have been easy to change "can not" to "can't" (Pippin talking nearly as fast as hobbitly possible), and I'm very optimistic that he'll continue to hit those marks.

Wow, that got longer than I expected, but I'm *really* enjoying this rendition. Unless it majorly blows up in my face somehow, I fully expect to have a new go-to recommendation for How To Experience LOTR for people who can't get through it by reading the text. (And even for people who can. I've said on many occasions, that book is written to be read aloud.)

So I am reading banger character analysis of various necron characters from people like Ghost and Magistralucis so I wanted to put my two sents in about two things; the absolute HYPOCRISY of Orikan the Diviner and necrons as a whole;

Those who have read I&D no doubt remember the incredible Opera scene. It was probably the most profound part of the entire book; more than their hilarious feud , their team up aganist Orks and subsequent betrayals , their clashes of importance of culture and history and complete disregard of it even if its your own (put a pin on that we'll come back to this) , the heartwrenching flashes of memories or even the final kaiju battles at the end. These two old coots finally FINALLY have to breath methaphorically and just...talk.

Well mostly Orikan talks. Conveniently 'just' remembering it was Trazyn who dragged him into the biofurnaces (even if you think for a MOMENT it's while possible HIGHLY improbable.) So he engages Trazyn in the way it would impact him the most. Through cultural analysis. Both @ghostinthegallery and @magistralucis did analysis on these scenes better than I ever could and I want to a particular parts of Orikan's speech because even as I know practically nothing about 40k or necrons (I&D is my first 40k book) it always made me laugh out loud at the absolute GALL of it.

"Children of Important people, judging by their clothing, though Orikan had no interest in this world or its Byzantine ideas of hierarchy' and

"but we call each other low and bumbling because we are highly civilized"

I legit laughed myself silly here before the gut punch of their interaction continued because... the ridiculous amount of lack of self awareness and hypocrisy just absolutely stunned me.

This is the SAME species who before the biotransference killed each other for basically for sport.

The same species who calls those who are in the lower class as 'it' and has literal philosophical works that brings their SAPIENCE AND SENTIENCE into question (Aristotle would be PROUD)

The same species where a crown prince can get away with shooting 50 commoner soldier in the head as a 'LESSON IN RULING' .

Same species STILL in some cases look down on Imotekh the fucking Stormlord just because he is apparently a 'sandborne'.

Same species who turned their entire lives and culture into a death cult.

The same species who seem to ironically instead of uniting and searching for a cure of their condition just continue to paint galaxy in red with their own and other species blood.

The same race after Old Ones rejected them decided to not just fought aganist them but TRIED TO DESTROY EVERY OTHER PEOPLE THEY COME ACROSS until Old Ones kicked their asses enough.

Tangent here; I mostly agree Old Ones refusing to at least cure them of their cancers is a massive dick move but a counter argument can be made; if you saw a species like necrontyr spread in the galaxy conquering everything they see (and lets be honest here.. if they had vassal species they most likely treat them worse than any Sand born) and the only thing keeping them in check is their sickness , internal political bullshit and equevalant species...would you help them?

And after ALL OF THAT you just...turn each on other and start to REALLY go at it to the point you get the attention of hungry melicious star parasites.

After completely ignoring the increasingly desperate warnings of your almost always correct court astromancer and paint him as insane and a charlatan;

THEN these things, using higher echelon's desperation for eternal life fool you into turning your entire race into soulless terminators because suprise!! During your transformation of course the 'gods' duped you and not only they stuck you into sub-optimal metal coffins , not only (some lore bits implies nobility %100 aware and content) %95 precent of your population is lobotomized , not only you are made to forget %98 of your entire culture even forget where your homeworld is , not only you sacrificed every single class of your young children and will NEVER have future generations EVER, but the cherry on top of this shit cake is your souls are gobbled by said star parasites and also ALL of you, SK included turned into their slaves.

So you and your new masters start a 5 million years worth of war so horrific you give chaos such a power boost , killed about %80 of the galaxy , forced psykic frogs into tearing the first anus in reality and drove the possibly only species keeping the Chaos Gods in check into (possible) extinction. You fucked the afterlife for everyone else until the heat death of the universe in Milky Way.

After that little debacle you turn on your gods , fought them, shatter them (and 'kill' one that in some shape harmed the reality) then after seeing the absolute devestation your gods and kind inflicted go to 60 millions of years of sleep which lets be honest helped more than hurt as mental problems were cropping up BEFORE the end of the war (TDK)

Now you are waking up and did you learn ANYTHING from all of the 5 million worth of life experience?

They learned jackshit thats what happened. Every single sapient necron even the likes of Trazyn, even Zhandrekh are still making the SAME mistakes and inflicts same cruelties they kind always had done.

Trazyn is at the end of the day is a thief and a kidnapper. I&D happened BECAUSE he was so stubborn to steal that gem he wounded the World Spirit and caused the Deciever shard to gain enough power by sending some Aeldari souls his way before Slaanesh can take them. My guy killed an ENTIRE WORLD for a joke.

We all know the reason he is so obsessed with his work is to keep himself sane and have a purpose but just imagine the GOOD he can do. He library rivals the actual BLACK LIBRARY in universe. He tried to help at Cadia and it was amazing to see but at the end of the day even Trazyn didn't seem to grasp that the galaxy is dying in front of him and he can CHANGE that. Or unwilling. This is the worst attributes of the necrons; not caring when they actually really SHOULD.

Zhandrekh is as much as the setting allows is a good man. He could be considered kind even in Flesh Times. He is an honourable man. He is also a terrifyingly competent warlord serving Imotekh whose damage seems to be his insaitable desire to conquer and CONTROL (as much as we know GW for what? 8 years didn't characterized him other than "really clever , great general , obsession with proving his worth and control by dueling with strong opponents"). I think people forget about that about him. He didn't lost a SINGLE campaign aganist Imperium. My senile old sweet man is TERRIFYING.Not much more to say about him honestly he is a good dude in a horrific setting with dementia and married to his bodyguard.

Now lets come to Orikan. Orikan the Diviner is %100 has the right to be a resentful bastard to his own people. He tried so hard to stop the catasthrophy of biotransference. Not only he didn't succeed but they THROW HIM AGANIST HIS WILL into the fires.

What I really like about him however is while he is a venomous , back stabbing little bastard who takes a little too much pleasure of his people' suffering he has these...flashes that shows there is SOMETHING kinder underneath deep deep DEEP down. He didn't want to destroy Serenade. Interestinf thing about him is he only refers to humans as an "it" ONCE. And thats a corpse something even we do. These are very small but it shows Orikan ISN'T just a complete and utter douchbag XD

That being said Orikan abject denial of basically anything positive about anything or anyone necron or not shows how small minded he can be. His destruction of necrontyr artifacts, his dismissal of human anything without giving it a try (like apperantly SK prepared shadow puppet theater for palace kids? How is that a drivel Orikan???) Etc. He simultaneously despises everything necrontyr/necron that ISN'T his or Vishani's provess in their fields yet claims total superiority in everything Necrons do as he insults them. He is the single most hypocritical character bar chaos SM.

Don't get me wrong its a great character work and shows us how flimsy necron identity even is. Because minus general archetypes of their dynasties they have...none. Soulless God Killers isn't an identity. It's the curse of their entire species however metal (pun intended) it is to turn your treacherous gods into cattle. At the end of the day however advanced tech they possess or claims to have high manners (if they are sentient enough) or 'elegance' they are as barren as a civilization can get in all account bar tech.

And the fact that they can call themselves 'Civilized' making me giggle for the sheer absurdity of it BECAUSE they equate technological advancement as 'Cultured amd civilized'.

Necrons while I LOVE THEM and want them to have a happy ending (I want that for all species honetly everyone is horrible in 40k its okay :D) are the indisputed the WORST people in this shithole of a galaxy.

Imperium in many ways are lightyears ahead of us technologically would we call them civilized? Aeldari despite all their tech and arts were creating blood orgies on bodies of sacrificed children and I didn't met many people who would consider even the today's Crafworld Aeldari civilized.

Necrons are the same as these two. There is beside technology and cultural ticks no difference between them. Orikan calls the class system of Serenade 'Byzantine ideas' while he himself is subjected to the EXACT SAME THING in Mendragora court.

So if we rib on the Imperium and Aeldar...why shouldn't we on necrons?

All the races of the Milky Way are sides of a multi-faced coin (except Tyranids obviously). Bloodthirsty , cruel savages with certain exceptions in characters because they are marginally less shitty than the rest (Trazyn , Zhandrekh , Oltyx , Yenekh , Eldrad , Vulcan , Farsight , Shadowsun , Jaghatai Khan etc.) Who wants the same thing.

Necrons are just the most delusional of them all and its so tragic it loops back around to being funny. All races have fell from grace in Warhammer. The Necrontyr might be the only race started with very little redeeming qualities though. And the have not changed a SINGLE BIT in 65 fucking MILLION YEARS besides Oltyx (who because the Flayer King. A literal flesh tearing and wearing monster) . A single character. This is beyond horrific when you think about it.

Ironically in 40k DAOT humans might have been the most civilized race ever existed. They had peace treaties with ORKS. Interex have not eradicated Mega-arachnids just banished them to a world where they can live and let live. Diasporex just wanted to be left alone. Humanity even Aledari used to have compassion. Necrontyr and necron minus few never had that as a SOCIETY. Not to their own NOT to others. (I am not humans fuck yeah! In the slightest but...history speaks for itself)

And with their souls gone it seems something needs to shake them up so badly to start actual REFLECTION of eho they have been/who they are. Because with the way the are going...their minds will give long before their bodies do.

Sooo...this is my 'analysis' of the hypocrisy of Orikan and Necrons as a whole considering them so above all despite being in the same mudpit wirh other races. Would love to hear your opinions do you agree? Disagree?

hii i don’t know if non-asks are allowed but i was wondering if some monocon systems are like us?

so we’re a median system, so not everyone is like. distinct? but most of us r fictives. but the thing we’ve been struggling with the most is that we’re monoconsious. i don’t know if any systems work like this,, but reassurance that they do exist would be nice :,) so, for us, it’s like everyone is always there, but not 100%. like i wouldn’t say i’m _ right now, but they’re also not fully gone in headspace (we don’t even have one). it’s also hard bc it’s just the constant subconsciously telling ourselves we’re faking since we share memories, conscious, we don’t get amnesia at all (besides emotional!) and i was wondering if some monocon systems work the same,, it’s almost like everyone is a little 5% there but someone’s 95% there then when we figure out we switched whoever was the 95% turns back into a 5% (sorry if that’s so confusing, we’re new to being a system and the imposter syndrome is just. evil rn)

also, whenever we switch, we almost never even tell. usually we can only tell if our likes have changed (someone fronts earlier who just absolutely hates our main spotify playlist apparently?) or personality, ect, which makes it hard on identifying who i am 99.9% of the time. i wish our consciousness could just, get a break :,).

(also, is it normal for monocon systems to not have a headspace or be able to talk to one another? none of us can communicate internally once so ever)

Id say thats kinda similar to our experience, so dont worry, you're not alone in that!

we dont have a headspace and cant talk to eachother either, most of our communication is thought or emotion bleeding or just knowing "this headmate would like that" etc. the sharing memories and consciousness and lack of amnesia past emotional is the most common form of monoconscious we know (and one we experience). like even if I have emotional disconnect from it I can remember the exomemories of, say, the ghostface in our system, even if Im not him right now.

the percentage experience is a new way to describe it to us, and we wouldnt say we experience that part, as Im sure I am NOT Velvet or Peony right now. but I wouldnt say it's unheard of! median and monoconscious systems are still under-researched compared to multiple and polyconscious ones.

Things I offer to draw:

People (you/your partner(s)/OCs/ttrpg characters/fictional characters) in shibari/kinbaku ties/rope bondage

Single characters or couples/multiple people

Accurate ties - I practice shibari myself and I like to draw ties that are as accurate and realistic as possible

Fun poses - I've practiced martial arts and yoga for 15+ years and love drawing dynamic or complex poses. I'm also up for suspension/predicament/contortion etc. poses

Varied body types - trans/cis, fat/curvy/thin, muscular/soft etc. etc.

Full/partial nudity/clothed/strategically placed flowers ... I'm flexible

Humans, fantasy humanoids (any D&D player race is fine, ask me if in doubt), furry/anthro (I can't draw the 'classic furry style', but anthropomorphic animals is no problem, ask for a sample if you want to be sure it fits your tastes) - feel free to ask for anything else

you wanna know how to show UP and show DOWN?!? pkmn MASTER style?!?

eeyuup :P im here to help you get started; this guide is meant for thosewho have little to no experience w conpetitive style pokemon battling & team building and the like and dunno wher to start! i have been doing competitive battles since like, 2018, with some off and on time. i don't got anythingBetter on me than them supertryhard tournament guys yk, but, i play for fun, and i have fun, and so, if you wanna have fun, and play games, then this is for youuuu !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this guide will go over things such as what the numbers & words you see commonly around competitive mean, set building, team archetypes, and other tips and tricks to improve!!! while this will mostly refer to showdown and how pokemon appear on the simulator, a lot of this can also be applied to the official games, if you prefer todo your battling there like the sun/moon battlespot.

the beginning; in ordeer to understand everything else that goes on, you have to understand stats, natures, and evs, and how they affect everything else. because this pertains to showdown, i wont talk about IVs, sincethey're automatically set to be perfect when you make your team...

hp ispretty straightforward, your hit points, your health. attack (atk) is what determines how much damage you do with physical attacks only defense (def) is what reduces the damage you take from physical attacks only (and psyshock, psystrike, and secret sword, which are special moves that use def instead of sp def.) special attack (sp atk) is what determines how much damage you deal with special attacks only special defense (sp def) is what reduces the damage you take from special attacks only speed (spe) is what determines who is able to move first in a match, in the case that your opponent is not using a priority move like sucker punch

natures add 10% to one stat and -10% to another stat, save for hp, after evs are calculated... here is a guide to How each nature affects your pokemon below ↓ (source) :D

the natures highlighted in gray (bashful, docile, hardy, quirky, serious) are neutral natures that have no effect on stats.

evs increase your pokemons stats depending on where you invest them; they can have 510 total when fully maxed, with 252 being the max allowed in one stat. 4 evs is equal to +1 in a stat, so if you had a base spe value of 92, investing 8 evs would make it 94. in the games you can train evs by using items (ex. power weights, carbos, clever feather, any sort of mints)

let us put this in perspective... teambuilding; lets say you want to build a team around arcanine becuz, Buppy, here are its base stats:

hp: 90 atk: 110 def: 80 sp atk: 100 sp def: 80 spe: 95

first thing to notice is the two attack stats; arcanine has a slightly higher physical attack than special attack, making it better to use as a physical attacker. it also has a decent base speed, allowing it to outpace a lot of popular tanks and walls like bastiodon or tyranitar, and so, you can categorize it as a wallbreaker.

next, lets see the movepool: a wallbreaker needs to be capable of restoring health while it decimates the walls in front of it. arcanine can learn morning sun, which covers that category. for offense, it has a really good STAB (same type attack bonus) in flare blitz. normally you could worry about the 1/3 recoil, but morning sun makes up for that. extreme speed is good to use in an arcanine wallbreaker because it usually goes first and allows you do deal damage as fast as possible. the fourth slot could be a status move like will-o-wisp to keep chipping away at your opponent.

for the nature; an adamant (+atk -sp atk) or jolly (+spe -sp atk) nature would work well with this, as adamant allows arcanine to increase its atk even further, or raise its speed more and allow it a better chance of moving first. (using natures that decrease special attack is alright, because all of the moves highlighted in the previous section are physical moves, we wont be using special attack at all in this set)

an item can change everything; you should always give your pokemon an item, and for this set, life orb does the trick (1.3x the damage, for 1/10 of the user's hp). taking extra damage is okay, because morning sun will make up the damage, and because arcanine forces a lot of switches, you can predict the turns your opponent will switch out to heal.

evs finally; arcanine has decent stats all around, it's not anything to brag about, but to be a wallbreaker, we should invest in hp, physical attack, and speed. we can distribute the 510 points like this: 120 to hp (+30) 152 to atk (+38) 236 to spe (+59) deciding evs can be difficult for newer players, so you can simply look for the smogon page for arcanine (which i took the set from for this example) and see how they distribute it based on what niche arcanine is going to cover.

after this, you need 5 more pokemon that can cover arcanine's weaknesses (this arcanine could be deeply troubled by entry hazards due to flare blitz and life orb, plus switching in and out often) and are helped by its strengths (a pokemon that can ohko water types maybe, like venusaur)

teambuilding is hard and time consuming if you don't know what you're doing, so here are some resources with premade teams you can practice with; here is the OU bazaar for gen 9 and here's the OU sample teams thread as well :) of course, always feel free to experiment! don't let the current meta prevent you from doing what you wanna do, underused pokemon can really throw off your opponent :P

AWESOME!! so now youve got your team, and hopefully you understand what they do and how they work, now you get to battle; its important to find your playstyle, and you can switch through them and see which one fits you the best or you have the most fun with :D there are a few main styles that can be recognized in the showdown scene:

hyper offense: this is what it sounds like, its about hitting hard and fast and forcing your opponent to stay on their toes. usually there is a dedicated lead that sets up hazards and every pokemon that follows is meant to deal as much damage as possible, aiming for ohkos or 2hkos. it requires a lot of switching in and out though, which makes it dangerous if your opponent has also set up hazards because you'll just keep taking damage, so a pokemon with acess to rapid spin, magic bounce, or a maushold with tidy up. being able to predict your opponent is EVERYTHING, one miscalculation can mean an unavoidable loss (hyper offense = wall breakers + sweepers + cleaners + hazard lead)

bulky offense: this is a sort of safer bet than hyper offense; they rely on having defensive pokemon to tank damage before pivotingthe setup sweepers and wallbreakers out to wreak havoc. moves like U turn and flip turn that return the user and switch to another are integral to this style, as well as priority moves and choice items. (bulky offense = pivots + wallbreakers + sweepers)

balance: this is what id consider the healthy middle ground between hyper offense and stall styles..balance teams have a strong defense but also strong wallbreakers that can deal massive damage; whittling down the opposing team with status conditions or multi-hit attacks until they can safely bring in their sweepers and wallbreakers. moves like rapid spin and defog are often on these teams to allow their walls to switch in + maintain the health of their offensive pokemon. (balance = wallbreakers + sweepers + hazards + pivots)

semi-stall: this is the nicer younger cousin to the full stall style, basically it uses multiple walls to compliment one bulky sweeper. it takes a loooottt of planning to carry this one out and patience too, because you can really only wear down the opponent and clean up, so moves like curse and calm mind are common to see. its just mostly defensive pokemon, passive damage is everything, and your sweeper can help you get out of sticky situations, your offense is there to support your defense, opposite than most of the other archetypes. and it sucks so bad to battle against drives me nuts. (semi stall = 5 defensive + 1 sweeper)

stall: this is the last archetype! all pokemon on this team are gonna be bulky walls, and it doesn't have a sweeper to support them. it's 100% defense, you're gonna win by waiting for the other team to completely faint with slow residual damage from entry hazards, burns, poisoning, etc. i've seen people even wait for the opponent to run out of PP while healing themselves, it takes forever. that's why it's called stalling. LOL. (stall = all walls)

when you find a archetype that fits you, you can stick with it, play to your strengths and cover your weaknesses!

i'm not going into cores and synergy and all of that jazz now so that's about all i have for you, but i'll leave some tips!

don't be afraid to switch out your pokemon! if you feel like its safe to do so, but you aren't, just do it! either way, you learn more about how to predict what moves are safe to take and not

figure out which pokemon you feel most comfortable with throwing out first/who your lead is. also look at your opponent's team and decide based on that, too! if they have an iron valiant, maybe don't send out that baxcalibur. you'll learn how best to pick your lead with practice

never risk losing the pokemon that helps you win; if you have one mon you would consider your "ace", one that always saves you by ohkoing like three mons on the other team, save them until necessary!!!

in showdown, you can type "/calc" in chat to see the damage calculator- play with it :P it helps a lot

save your replays! do random battles! do ubers! see what your opponent is doing! learn how to counter it! get a feel for how other people tend to play and how you can keep up against it

and of course have fun :P
