#*edit: fun bad like twilight

i’m trying so hard to enjoy and get into First Kill but a new generic sounding indie pop song that adds nothing to the narrative or atmosphere plays every ten seconds and it’s driving me bonkers. who thought gorging this show on bland pop songs constantly was a good idea? it’s so bizarre. such a bad choice. it pulls me out of the submersion. and there’s never enough time b/w songs to ever feel fully immersed.

Random Doctor Who hcs: Sleep (Doctor edition!)
Does 9 sleep? Like. Like does he actually sleep???
The answer is no.
“I don’t need to sleep I’m Time Lord.” he says with bags under his eyes.
Gets nightmares pretty often when he does sleep.
Will take short little nod offs in the console room.
Sleeps/relaxes in his leather jacket and jeans. Rose thinks this is so weird and gets on him for it all the time. She winds up buying him a soft jumper on some planet they stop at. He shows up in sweatpants and the jumper one day and rose and Jack just stare at him for a hot minute because he looks so wrong. “He looks so naked.” Nine gets so offended about it (they’re trying to say he looks fine but yeah they're laughing a bit). “You just look so…normal.” “Oi!” “No, no it’s not bad. S’ different.”
He actually learns how to relax a bit. He considers it a bit domestic, a lot domestic actually, and he looks so unintimidating in sweatpants but……maybe.
Ten. Oh Ten.
Dude got a pair of pajamas on his first day of being alive and has kept them ever since. They’re his favorite. He loves them so much that Rose has to take TenToo to go find a pair like them.
Stays up with Rose talking about the most random things. Rose listens as long as she is able before she falls asleep. Her favorite lullaby :)
Like 9, he’d rather be tinkering with the Tardis than sleeping so he mostly does that. But he has taken up reading. Twilight’s getting wild.
Has thought about asking to sleep with Rose. As in next to Rose. on the same bed. He immediately talked himself out of it.
Martha has to make him sleep. “You just got possessed by a sun go to bed!”
Generally sleeps less while Martha’s on board.
Gets bored and walks into Donna’s room to talk to her while Donna’s trying to go to bed. She indulges him sometimes but other times she just wants to go to bed.
Has fallen asleep during movie nights with Donna and has denied it.
Sleepovers with Donna.
Cuddles :)
Incredibly sleep deprived throughout the whole mess that is post-journey’s end. Like emotionally sleep deprived. Desperately in need of a nap.
11 HATES sleeping. Hates it. If he’s sleeping, he’s going to be still, and if he’s going to be still, he’ll start thinking and we can’t have that. So he just…doesn’t.
To keep himself occupied while traveling without Amy and Rory he tried going to sleep. It was a very bad, no good, horrible experience for him and he decided he just simply would never do that again. Hasn’t been in his room since.
Will nod off from time to time but will not go to bed. Rory gets a bit concerned but maybe this is normal for time lords. Who’s he to say?
Trying to put him to bed is like working with a fussy toddler. You will have to cajole and shove and push and bribe him and it will not work. Just give up.
Thinks pajamas look nice but has no need for them because he doesn’t sleep.
The experience with the Dream Lord was enough for him thanks.
12? Doesn’t sleep. Sleep is for the weak.
Absolutely falls asleep standing up.
Tries an energy drink once. Gets addicted. Is banned from energy drinks from now on.
He and Clara pull the worst all-nighters you’ve ever seen. Its fun for them.
Doesn’t own pajamas but he does own a really corny t-shirt Clara bought him that he would wear if he did sleep. But he doesn’t. So.
Fourteen NEEDS a nap. Desperately.
Is incredibly tired but has so much trouble going to sleep its unreal.
Will stay up stargazing or tinkering with things in the house that don’t need to be tinkered with. Takes apart every appliance in the house until Donna and Sylvia yell at him to stop.
Sleeps in an actual bed in an actual house because Donna made him. She was not about to have him sleep in the TARDIS.
Rose makes him a blanket fort in the living room.
She stuffs it full of stuffed animals and puts up fairy lights. “It’s bigger on the inside.”
It’s incredibly comfortable but unfortunately for every other member of the house it takes up a good chunk of space. (Rose and the Doctor do catch everyone getting a lot of use out of it though)
Lives in hand-me down pajamas until he can get his own but secretly loves the hand-me down pajamas

so I know you don’t like BD as an ending to Twilight (tbh me neither), but do you enjoy Breaking Dawn?
As an example… I don’t think it fits as an ending to the series. It’s a little too cutesy happy ending. But I enjoy BD! I think it’s cute and I’m happy to see Bella as a vampire. So just curious if you enjoy BD
There are parts I enjoy. I like meeting more of the vampires in the world! I'm glad we got to actually meet the Denali, and Peter and Charlotte, and all these other friends who admittedly felt like they came out of nowhere. Still fun, though! And I liked seeing the Volturi again even if the ultimate ending felt pretty unresolved and anticlimactic. And I liked that so much of it took place at the Cullen house and we got to see more of the Cullens, as well as more of Seth and Leah in the middle section. Jacob's banter with the Clearwaters was fun.
But that's pretty much it. I'm not a fan of supernatural pregnancy stories. I also don't like the Too Smart for Their Age kid trope, and Renesmee is just so much of a throughline throughout BD that it's hard for me to enjoy it as she embodies all those tropes I don't personally like. And Bella's consequences-free newborn experience was a let down. It's just not remotely to my tastes, which is fine! It's okay for stories to have tropes I don't personally like. The problem, like you said, is how it doesn't seem to be a good ending to the series because it was written before New Moon and Eclipse and then edited to fit. She forced an original ending despite circumstances and characters changing in the middle books.
The whole point of Eclipse was Edward and Bella reaching these compromises, learning to communicate better, and Edward being less overprotective. And then Breaking Dawn happens and all that is thrown out the window because of story beats that were originally supposed to come right after the first book, without that development. Jacob, too; in the original Forever Dawn he was just a family friend with a low level crush on Bella. They didn't have the New Moon bonding experience, we didn't know his feelings on fate and free will and choice. But in Breaking Dawn he's a different, more developed character, yet SM still insists on the imprint! I would have always hated the imprint because it's creepy to imprint on children AND it's a lazy device to bring peace to the shifters and vampires, but I would have hated it less if Jacob hadn't spent the last two books expounding on the importance of choice and the value of humanity.
tl;dr: Breaking Dawn (and Forever Dawn) have a lot of tropes I don't care for so I don't enjoy it much because it's not to my personal tastes. It's not what I wanted out of a vampire romance. BUT that's not what makes it 'bad.' The real problem is that she forced an ending that, IMO, no longer really fit after the story and characters changed in the middle books.

Out of curiosity I must ask, what League of Legends champion do you absolutely loathe lore wise?
I don't mean that you hate them every time they're on screen and wish that Riot never made them, mind you. I mean they're good in design and execution, but if you were in their world, you'd punch them directly in the balls.
God, like... most of them? Yeah, most of them probably. Might be easier to count the ones I wouldn't get angry with.
Understand, most of these characters are people who wield tremendous power and who, out of the necessity of storytelling, makes really bad choices about how to wield it and wield it unilaterally over other people.
Like, Shen for example, good ol' mister Eye of Twilight, Keeper of the Balance and so on... also happy to just let people get Noxus Murdered because of spirit balances or whatever. Fuck that guy. Punch him in the dick. Nasus is too busy feeling sorry for himself in the desert to give a shit about helping the people he was once sworn to defend, Swain is a military dictator, Darius is the enforcer of military dictatorship, Garen and Fiora both aid and abet an ongoing genocide while Lux is a reprehensible centrist about it, Xayah and Rakan are terrorists targeting human civilians, Bard happily lets entire villages be slaughtered while he collects magic artifacts, Vex killed like hundreds of thousands of people during the Ruination... it goes on like this.
So yeah. Lillia is cute and good and deserves the world. Ekko and his crew have never done anything wrong, ever, and protect Zeri at all costs. Yuumi is baby. I'd try goat's milk to drink with Braum, and I'd love to share a campfire with Taliyah and her folks. Nami seems alright, Neeko would be fun to chat with, I wish to build a snowman with Nunu and Willump. Poppy is okay, but we don't know if she's on the mages' side yet, so, hm. Soraka is welcome at the party though!
And y'know what, Seraphine and Gwen can come too, they seem like they'd be baseline pleasant to have around.
EDIT: inb4 none of this means you're not allowed to like any of these characters or that enjoying them and fanjoying over them is problematic or w/e, please do not be weird about this

Every month of 2023 ✨
Post your most popular and/or favorite edit/gifset for each month (it’s okay to skip months!)
thank you so much for tagging me zey [x] @smileytharn, mj [x] @forcebook, jessi [x] @daymork, and antania [x] @raypakorn ♥ it was so lovely to look through all of your creations! you've all worked hard during the past year and i hope i get to see more creations from all of you throughout this year ^^
-
i'm collecting my creations for each month under the cut but let's look at some fun statistics at first! (inspired by antania's post ♥)
i created 68 edits
additionally, there were 5 photo collabs (jimmysea photoshoots)
and 4 text post meme posts (for last twilight)
the most edits i made in may (due to our skyy 2 episodes)
most of my edits were related to vice versa (13 in total)
the second most popular ones were bad buddy (8 edits) and last twilight (10 edits)
most of my edits were either lovely/warm or angsty
i got deep into episode edits this year
and also took inspiration from other than poetry and lyrics
thank you so much for being part of all this!
January
my most popular edit was this vegaspete set i made for @spicyvampire ♥ i actually like it a ton! but my personal favorite from this month is my bad buddy characters + the real 5 love languages set. i like the meme a ton and i loved how the set turned out (+ for me, it's super funny).
February
my most popular edit this month was the toddblack differences edit i made for @i-got-the-feels ♥ it was a very different type of edit and i'm very happy ppl liked it this much. personal favorite is this jimmy(sea) set for the varitda mv he/they appeared in. i loved the aesthetic of the mv and i feel like i captured that very well.
March
the most popular edit in march was my akkayan + one direction piece dedicated to @fitfmybeloved ♥ i think i need to make something else with a similar style sometime. my favorites would be the puen & talay's top 10 outfits edits which technically happened in february and march. i had a ton of fun with them and i honestly adore looking at the results.
April
my birthday month! the most popular creation was my beyond evil edit which was interesting to make according to @nongnaos's request ♥ i had never edited this show (or any kdrama) before and i also struggled a bit with figuring out the layout. it's a very simple set but felt fitting. my favorite this month would be this puentalay set made for you antania ♥ it took a lot of time, especially all the coloring, but it was worth every second! (special mention for my sea bday set which i still cannot believe the bday boy actually saw and liked on twt ;; i love him so much!)
May
i think it's very deserved that my most popular edit in may was this puentalay one for my our skyy 2 episode edits series. it's for the first vice versa episode and tbh also my personal favorite out of all those episode edits i made ^^ the coloring just worked super well there. my true favorite of the month was the pran's life anthem edit i made for @pransobrave ♥
June
as is fitting for pride month, my most popular edit and also my personal favorite was my our skyy 2 couples edit where i tried to describe all of their different loves through the colors of a rainbow. it was a lot of fun to do!
July
the most popular edit this month was the pran set i made for @punpunsutatta ♥ i had a lot of fun with this one bc i got to try some new things with it. personal faves and my peak as an editor (in my own opinion) were the two puentalay edits i made this month. this sam smith song inspired one i made for you zey ♥ i adore the layout and the colors, it makes me think about vintage images and letters. and this other one was born bc the quote haunted me. i love the pink in it a lot, it's so soft.
August
for august, i felt like i was making a ton of things even if i didn't have the energy or the time. in reality, i didn't make that many but i made a couple of very big sets. one of them and the most popular one this month was my winteam set made for @jimmysea ♥ making it took some research and then i had to go through the episodes a little while i searched for the fitting scenes. personal favorite was this akktheo set bc it turned out looking very cute. i think it captures their feeling as a couple and their story well. special mention for my jimmy bday set bc i poured my heart into it ♥ i love this man so much (and i currently wish he is fine and gets well soon, he's apparently in the hospital ;;)
September
things got hectic in september as i started my internship and had to travel around a lot. i was too tired to do much else but work and study and watch dramas without any brain. that's why i only made two edits. my most popular set was my last request edit for my event. it was patpran with the lyrics from ford arun's song come closer and made for @celestial-sapphicss ♥ i love the colors in this so much. personal favorite, only barely, is still my puentalay + 8 types of love set. i had a blast making it as a kind of collab with @dimpledpran who made the patpran version!
October
made only two edits (or well, one cut into two parts) in october too due to being very busy and tired. they were quite big tho bc i used a long while gathering material for them. it was its own type of research project when i wrote down all the times puentalay told each other 'i love you' without saying those exact words to each other. i struggled with the layout too as mimi can probably remember :'D but i love these sets a lot so they're both my favorite and most popular ♥
November
finally in november last twilight came to save all of us and so it's no wonder i created a lot for that during this month :'D i honestly wished to make more but i was still mostly busy with my internship and with starting my thesis. my most popular one was this last twilight trailer edit. i think it was fun to kind of make it similar to my mock trailer edit all that time ago. my personal favorite is the mork + linkin park edit that probably caters to only myself lol. am honestly obsessed with each song mentioned in this bc i can see it with mork so well. it was a relief to get that one out.
December
haven't really had the time to dive as deep into last twilight and make as many edits for it as i'd wanted due to using most of december to catch up on sleep and all the studying i couldn't do during my internship, but hopefully now i'll have more time to devastate yall ♥ the most popular post was this last twilight + random tweets thing and my personal favorite is the only morkday quote edit i've managed so far. i love the colors and the whole concept to bits, and cannot wait to make more ^^
-
thank you if you read this far! i'm not sure who hasn't been tagged yet bc i'm a bit late with this one but if you have done this already, you can always send it my way! i almost demand you do. i love appreciating all your art ♥
tagging: @dimpledpran @jimmysea @moonkhao @chinzillas @khaotunqs @pranink @dengswei @taeminie @psychic-waffles (i'd love to see your art!) @yilinglaozu @eohachu @difanghua @mooninagust @namchyoon ♥

Looking for new content? Here's a list of CCs I like while I procrastinate cleaning my room
I will go from most popular to least and maybe you'll find something you are interested in. Kinda long so I added read more.
DougDoug - needs no introduction as he is very popular, I recently started watching his videos because a student vouched for him and while I can see why kids will like his challenge videos, I also find his content very entertaining. Especially while you eat dinner. Big fan of his zelda content. Parkzer is an interesting side character.
Squeex - PLEASE. If you want to get into Squeex start with his beating every mario kart game video. It's a good introduction and you can go from there. Please.
Linkus7 - My favorite Zelda runner as of late, I consider him a part of a triangle consisting of PointCrow, Smallant, and him. Though, he is lesser known within the greater sphere of twitch. His randomizers are the most fun in my opinion. I try to save his recent vods when I can, as he doesnt save them anymore.
Sambucha - STOP he makes like lowkey mindless kids content videos but I'm like obsessed with him for some reason. One of my students forced me to watch his "beating the easiest world records" video and I was immediately enthralled. He makes content thats easy to listen to while you draw. But I'm sure you can do other things with it on in the background.
Sturniolo Triplets - Content that is popular with teen girls, but I'm still obsessed for some reason. I just love people who have a good relationship just hang out together. Podcast vibes. Nick is the funniest. CONS: Chris is a queerbaiter at heart, though he is in a youtube group with his brothers. Hmm. Cant be doing that here.
Stephanie Soo - Mukbang true crime girl. I loved her video in high school and I would always put on her videos while I was in painting II - III or drawing. Too bad I cant watch her anymore because too much true crime makes me too paranoid. If you like true crime shes an easy watch, keeps thing friendly and accessible. I love her and her husbands relationship.
Trin Lovell - Reviews movies and by far my favorite movie watcher on youtube. Her editing is really funny and quippy. She got popular from watching best and worse riverdale and glee episodes (shes a big glee fan). my favorite videos from her are where hands touch and skinamarink. I have gained many new phrases from her.
StephenPlays - Smaller youtuber whos been in the game for like fifteen years. He is very chill and does letsplays with his friends and wife. I recommend his twilight princess and mario kart play throughs (featuring his wife Mal).
Any Austin - one of my fav youtubers ever and I've been a fan of him for 11 years now. He basically shaped my humor as a kid and I recommend his eggbusters series to get started. He had a letsplay channel called Two People Playing Games with his friend Aysha that sadly disbanded as they became too busy in their lives to keep up with it. Austin has done a lot of content over the years and recently is getting big for is "calculating the unemployment level of ___" keep this on the DL but if you ever want any privated videos I know a guy.
The Fisher - MAGNET FISHING
People you may have heard of, but made never checked out! My vouch:
Drew Gooden - Obviously. Funniest commentary youtuber. If you haven't watched him what are you doing?
Jenny Nicholson - I got into beef with her in 2019 (i think) when everyone was making fun of her for being a Reylo and she blocked me. I still like her commentary videos. Especially for background noise. My acc she blocked me on was suspended.
Johnny's Communication Center -
Sinjin Drowning - theyre snakes and lowkey the azealia banks of I guess roblox content bc thats all they do anymore but I'll be damned if I'm not CACKLING at them. They have a trail of destroyed friendships as long as the empire state building behind them.

My Dear Gangster Oppa and Twins are series with a very silly plot, sometimes poorly edited and sometimes with poor acting…. ….and I like them? And enjoy them? 🥳 Meen is incredibly beautiful.
Middleman's Love - hmmm, I don't know what to think about it. This is one of my 4 most anticipated series this year and it's COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from my expectations. Like, drastically different. The series is too similar to SCOY (or even YYY), except in SCOY the main couple and their friends were very expressive, unique and errr... dominant, immediately catching my attention despite the huge amount of cringe. While watching ML, I had the impression that it was just one of those office comedies, not a BL series, I don't sense any romance in it, Jade is a classic comic relief, and Mai is just… there, they don't give the impression of the main couple around which the story is told, they both don't "create" their story like Nuea and Toh. It was fun, but that's not IT. Also I LOVED Jade in Bed Friend, now i'm... indifferent? I'm disappointed after the first ep, ngl and I'm worried it's gonna be Step by Step all over again 😟 Maybe second ep will be better...
A Breeze of Love - a nice, short series. A lot of emotions, the series is well done, although it did not impress me as much as the similar Our Dating Sim or Sing My Crush. But I still recommend it 😊 I loved a little bonus in the form of a nice scene of a guy who has a crush on one of the main characters in the finale (like in You Are My Boy series) 🥰
Last Twilight - episode 1 was very good, Mok is literally the archetype of a capable, competent, handsome bad boy hiding a tragic past 😍 Day behaves exactly as a young man should in his situation, he's rude, aggressive, annoying, lashing out, rejecting help. The episode was done very well, without unnecessary scenes. I liked it! Mark is incredibly beautiful.

Character timeline 2: Sona Edition (+ Hoover)
Tumblr media
I think I have a bit less to explain overall bc some elements to her are borrowed from my real life (bc she’s a sona)
Splatoon 1: Not really a whole lot to say here, just a pretty normal kid at this point.
Splatoon 2: This is (technically?) when Toothpaste and Hoover meet. You know how kids sometimes try to hatch grocery store chicken eggs, even though they’re infertile? (Or is it just me who tried to do that)? This is sort of what she tried to do. Little did she know, the golden eggs everyone was being paid to collect were viable. But that’s crazy talk, right? Stealing unborn salmonid eggs is wrong, there’s no way Grizzco would have them do that! That’s something only bad guys would do… She was definitely still pretty naïve at this point.
Splatoon 3: Hoover hatched soon after the events of Splatoon 2, prompting the duo to move to the Splatlands like many others at the time. The two consider themselves siblings (kind of a Twilight Sparkle and Spike backstory if you know about that). Toothpaste also started playing for a team, with all these new changes resulting in a bit of a style change (she didn’t get any taller, however).
Sorry that these descriptions are a lot shorter than the ones I did for Iota, but doing a timeline for Toothpaste and Hoover was largely prompted by this tweet! I certainly have had a lot of different iterations of my sona, so why not let those different iterations represent her growing up with me. Fun fact, the inverted colors from S1/S2 were actually the original colors I drew my sona with back in the day. (Hoover’s design has actually been nearly unchanged for the past few years lol). I’m gonna do a Hoover-centric post in the future anyways though.

I'm developing my own version of a human mlp universe, so starting out with unicorns!! Using my ocs for this for added fun. Including ALT text and an in-post image ID for this, this is my first time doing so, so feedback would be appreciated and I'll edit the post with it in mind!
[Image ID, copied from ALT text: A drawing of two women stood next to each other. The woman on the left is tall and slender, coloured with greys and blues, and has flowing cloud-like hair, she has a single horn on her head. There is text above her head showing her name is Storm Breaker. The woman on the right is short, with chubbier features, and is coloured in shades of green and red. She does not have a horn. The text above her head says she is named Rose Petal.
There is text written around them, saying
"Stronger unicorns don't immediately develop horns! They only grow when the unicorn preforms strong magic, eg Twilight hatching Spike."
"Horns do have a growth limit, but can still get rather long. Celestia + Luna have the longest possible horns"
"Unicorns with weaker magic don't have horns! Instead, they use magic through their hands. Due to this, unicorns need to take good care of their hands"
"Hand injuries heavily impede a unicorn's magic, eg, here Tempest would have received bad had injuries from the ursa minor, instead of breaking her horn."

I'm surprised that no one has pointed this out but... Wild is in Super Smash Bros Ultimate and he's the newest member of the Link Chain. Yes, Twilight Princess Link, Toon Link and OoT/MM Link are there, aka Twilight, Wind and Mask/Time. But...none of them are the latest member so everyone in the group knows more about them than Wild. They also don't have the Sheikah Slate.
So, Wild bringing up insanity thanks to his connection to the Smash Bros tournament. (He's also the most closest to his original design in game.) He befriended a lot of the Fighters even most of the villains except for Ganondorf. Even better if the Sheikah Slate also acts like phone and he has everyone on fucking speed dial.
Nobody knows this especially cause they asked about his adventure in HYRULE, not the tournament or the clusterfuck that occured either. (I headcanon that the Spirits don't remember the World of Light insanity, only the active Fighters.)
So when a fight begins to go bad, Wild just chimes a fellow fighter for help like the phone mechanic in Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. His new comrades just stare gobsmacked as Bowser just comes out of nowhere to help.
Or he pulls out some items from the tournament like a Master Ball and Tapu Koko comes out to aid Wild before peacing out.
Everyone: What the hell was that?!
Wild: Friends and stuff from my tournament days. 😀
Edit: If any of you are fans of crossover pairings, that makes it extra fun. Wild be texting his lover on the Sheikah Slate (upgrades are a thing.) Or said lover comes to his aid. Link in BOTW is 17 years but chronologically he's 117 thanks to his 100 year nap.
Everyone: Of course he was dating someone too.
Wild and Lover: 😀

Hi there! I didn't know you had a tumblr. I've been reading most of your lu fics for the last couple of months. Love how you write Twilight and Warriors. They're such brothers the way you write them. I genuinely don't know how you write so much in such a short amount of time, but I've been enjoying it!
Thank you for reading!! it brings me so much joy to share my work <3 i love writing them so so much XD i really thought when i first started writing lu fic that i would focus on twi & wild or twi & time a lot more but twi & warriors have stolen my heart
the tumblr is new as i am a Dedicated Lurker so bare with me as i figure out this god forsaken website beyond likes/reblogs.
i have a bad habit of hobby fixating XD so this has been nearly all my free time outside of Responsibilities bc im having so much fun with it! seeing lovely people like you in the fandom and having people interact with my work is just *chefs kiss*. i am a glutton for praise <3
ive been writing creatively since i was 8 or so and over time have gotten into the habit of editing myself in real time. i call it the Fucking Send It philosophy (usually) bc I know if it hesitate that i'll never be content with my work
i also save time by refusing to plot/outline anything :D i do not recommend this as i am usually along for the ride as much as the reader or working off a vague mental sketch
ty so much for the ask bestie!! made my day <3

FFXIVWrite 2023 DAY 9 - FAIR
In which Z'rhiki encounters an unlikely ally at a local street festival!
**Update: now edited for typos!**
Rating: General Genre: Fluff Characters: Urianger Augurelt, Z'rhiki Irhi (Warrior of Light) Word Count: 1,154 Content Warnings: None
Alright, this time for sure! The last one was so close! I can do this! Angle my wrist like this… keep my hand steady… AND-
“Doth mine eyes deceive? Z’rhiki?”
The sound of her own name startled Rhiki, disrupting her carefully positioned throw. The wooden ring, painted to look like a dancer’s tathlum, clattered down between the empty wine bottles, nowhere near finding a home around any of their necks. “Urianger?” She spared a frown at the carnival game before turning to see the familiar elezen.
“Indeed. Pray accept mine apology for the intrusion.”
Of all the places she might have expected to run into Urianger, this had to be towards the bottom of the list. It was a far cry from the solitude of the Waking Sands’ library, or even the whimsical, flower-strewn fields of Il Mheg. The street around them bustled with people. The air was alive with talking and laughter, punctuated by the shouting of barkers hoping to entice passers-by with their games or wares, and it carried on it the pleasant scents of all manners of food. Dusk had faded into night, and the streets were lit with brightly colored lanterns and twinkling strings of light, adding to the festive atmosphere. Though most might dismiss him as just another, ordinary fairgoer, to Rhiki he seemed out of place in such a crowded, lively venue.
“Don’t worry about it!” she said, raising her voice to be heard over the music and chatter. “What are you doing here?”
Urianger’s lips curved into a small smile. “The same as thee. Partaking of the myriad delights of the fair.”
“Really? Why?” The incredulous words escaped her mouth before she could stop them, and she hoped they didn’t come across as rude. Urianger’s smile faded, though not in a way that indicated he had taken offense. Instead, his expression looked… almost melancholy. Perhaps it was just the dim lighting.
“Thou seest through me like the thinnest of gossamer,” He mused. “Indeed, it was not mine intent to join in the revelries. However, upon the fall of twilight I found myself idle and could not help but to hear the jocundity of the carnival. My mind was grasped by a most singular thought – that such an affair was the sort that… Moenbryda might have enjoyed. Thus, did I resolve to wile away the evening with merrymaking, as she might have.”
“Oh,” Z’rhiki said, casting her gaze downward. She felt badly for asking, but also somewhat heartened by his truthful and open response. “Well, um, did you come by yourself?”
He nodded. “Thou art correct in thine assessment. However, mayhap I might pose the same to thee? ‘Tis passing strange to see thee in solely thine own company,”
She suddenly felt a little embarrassed. Was it that strange for her to be at the fair by herself? “I’m not alone! Fripon came with me!”
Urianger looked down to see the small white unicolt at his feet. Rhiki’s constant companion.
“A worthy escort.” He noted. He made no further comment, but she felt the urge to elaborate regardless.
“Usually, I would have asked Alisaie and Alphinaud to come,” she explained, “but they’re visiting home in Sharlayan this week. I asked Tataru if she wanted to go, but she wasn’t feeling well. And I have no idea where Thancred’s gotten off to. It seemed like a shame to miss out on the fun, though, so I thought I would just… come by myself!”
Urianger nodded. “I see,” There was an awkward pause, during which both struggled to decide whether or not to let the interaction draw to a conclusion. Any bad blood from his previous deceptions had long since cooled, but the two had never had much in common, and for a long time Rhiki had struggled to even understand his formal, archaic manner of speech. There were still times she found his musings oblique or downright nonsensical.
To her surprise, it was Urianger who broke the stalemate. “Mayhap…” He ventured “Thou wouldst like company? I am led to believe that such merriment is improved by the presence of friends.”
“Oh,” she was simultaneously caught off guard and flattered, not just by the offer, but by the fact that Urianger referred to her as a friend. She shouldn’t have been shocked, she supposed – the Scions were all, at least by technical definition, her friends. But it was still strange to hear Urianger use the word in reference to her alone.
She had almost certainly taken too long to respond, and Urianger shifted uneasily, perhaps thinking he had overstepped. He looked like he was about to open his mouth, probably to offer her an easy avenue of declining his invitation, but before he could she made a split-second decision and blurted out:
“Yeah, that sounds nice! Let’s walk around together. We never hang out!”
Urianger looked as shocked as she had felt, his eyes widening slightly. He recovered quickly, however, and smiled warmly. The expression suited him, she thought to herself.
“As thou pleases,”
At their feet, Fripon had begun snuffling around the hem of Urianger’s robes, apparently sensing the discomfort dissipate. He had always been very perceptive, and often mirrored Rhiki’s feelings towards people – even those she tried to hide, or didn’t recognize herself. He had never known quite what to make of Urianger. Maybe because she’d never known quite what to make of Urianger. Tonight, though, he seemed emboldened.
The tall man either didn’t notice the unicolt or made no comment. Instead, he had turned his head to look at the ring-toss game Rhiki had been attempting when he had first called out to her. “Once again, mine apologies for disrupting thine efforts. Hast thou been yet successful?”
Rhiki laughed sheepishly. “Not yet. It’s more difficult than it looks! I was trying to win that Major General plushie, but so far no luck.”
“Indeed,” Urianger’s eyes wandered the game stall, and he tilted his head from side to side, thinking. He lifted one hand to stroke his chin as he contemplated. “The angle and height at which one must toss is quite precise, as is the amount of force one must apply. It is clear to me that such a design is intended to minimize the odds of success.”
“Uh-huh.” Rhiki couldn’t tell if he was discovering this fact for the first time himself, or if he had intended to enlighten her. “That is kind of how festival games work.”
“However,” He removed his hand from his face and held a single finger up in the air. “I do believe it is possible to achieve, if one is only able to calculate the trajectory with sufficient accuracy.”
“Wait, really?” She looked at him askance. “Do you think you can do that?” He had to be bluffing.
He smiled again, exuding a quiet confidence, and nodded. “Mayhap! Would thou allow me to take the next turn in thine stead?”

If you don’t mind tho, would you have any clue where I could ask about this talk of the LU fandom/Jojo going out of line? I’m oblivious to whatever happened and I’m curious
it's a bit of a complicated and long story, but some of it has to do with fans in general just being rly pissy about characterizations. i'm not pointing any fingers or listing any names bc it's not a One Person kinda problem, and some people don't even notice/see the issue and don't think it's an issue at all. in the grand scheme of things, this first issue isn't rly that big of a deal
(this might get long, and might bring up some anxieties for people, so this break is for anybody who wants to avoid mentions of fandom discourse, including past belittlement of furries, otherkin, and systems. stay safe)
reminder: this is just me clarifying info bc somebody asked! i am not trying to dredge up old mistakes
^ some of the things im talkin about are like . people babying wind. people turning wars into a comic-relief character that only knows how to creep girls out. people turning twilight into an emo cowboy that constantly cries about his girlfriend that's now in another realm or whatever. people simplifying wild into a crazy arsonist who doesn't seem to have a brain. people taking the "bitter" part of legend and exaggerating it So much that he's literally just an asshole to everybody all the time for NO reason other than that "he's the bitchy one"
personally this isn't nearly as annoying to me as some others find it. but i think the Bigger one, for me at least, is jojo herself
in this post, jojo makes fun of furries and otherkin, which i do not agree with. i don't have a problem w jojo not wanting twi to be "furry-like" but she drew the furry purposefully disgusting and stupid-looking to make fun of them. i don't know much about otherkin, but i know it's wrong to make fun of other people, especially when they aren't hurting anybody <3
and in this post, while explaining four's characterization in the comic, jojo put the word system in air quotes, as if to suggest there's something wrong with systems or that they don't exist or something. that stirred up quite a lot of suspicion and doubt in the fandom, and many systems obviously did not like that. i am not a system, so that's all i'll put here—a lot of systems posted their own takes on it when it happened
jojo has since edited both the tumblr post and the insta post to not have the word system in quotes. she explained herself and apologized here and here (this specific one is, i Believe, referring to past mistakes such as the ones above), but some people still are a bit iffy on that whole debacle (me included)
there might be more, but that's everything that i personally know of as to why the fandom has sorta gone bad. this next reason (sorta two reasons) is a personal thing and i don't rly hold it against jojo herself:
silly reason: i just like familial bonds and Close relationships in fiction, and lu does not cover that. they call each other "brother" from time to time but that's not enough dammit i want them to cuddle and i want time to be the father figure and i want them to live in a nice ranch house together happily ever after OKAY!!!! /silly
a more serious reason: linkshipping
i DO NOT agree with people belittling others for posting linkshipping, and this happens in lu All The Time and it's appalling. im not gonna get into the whole "but it's against her rules" thing bc i have some conflicted feelings abt that whole topic and this will get ridiculously long if i prattle abt that, but . people r getting bullied. people r getting singled out and Called Out and hated on and, in extreme cases, Driven Off The Platform bc they posted two silly little fictional men kissing. that's inexcusable to me
it's a bit more complicated than that, but i am of the simple opinion that u should Never police how other people have fun, and this is all fictional and we should redirect our collective hatred toward Real World Problems instead of wasting our time on arguing about whether or not these fictional elves should kiss <3
if i do make a new au and get away from this fandom, i hope to provide a safe space for Everybody, including linkshippers

Here There Be Monsters: Caged Animals
Summary: Twilight and Warriors go hunting on the night of the full moon. Unfortunately. they aren't the only ones out hunting tonight.
TW: Force feeding blood to a vampire, vomiting, panic attacks,
A/N: Thank you @transzeldas for beta reading for me! :) This is part of my Here There Be Monsters AU | Read fic on AO3 Here
Mock up of what Warriors' God Markings look like
EDIT: @/transzeldas made some excellent fanart of this fic here
~~~
They‘d been stupid.
So, so, stupid.
They hadn’t been careful and now they were suffering the consequences for it. They hadn’t even noticed the trap until they had literally walked right into it.
If any of the others were here, Warriors and Twilight would never hear the end of it, but Twilight thought he would put up with being made fun of if it meant they got out of this situation.
Everyone had heard the rumors of Hunters moving into the city recently. Everyone had heard. That was why Twilight and Warriors were out in the forest together in the first place.
There had been a full moon the night before. Twilight’s magic, like all werewolves’, was more powerful than usual during that time, but that power came with instability. The full moon made his magic unsettled. It became desperate to answer the moon’s call, desperate for him to shift into wolf form.
He could have stayed in his and Wild’s apartment for the night. He should have, he knew that now. But it was easier to give in to the primal tug, to drive into the country, find an isolated forest, and shift. There had been worries about Hunters, but last night it had seemed like a distant danger.
He couldn’t have stayed in the apartment while shifted. Taking on his wolf form while they were in the middle of the city wasn’t a good idea. That was just asking to be discovered. Or at the very least, kicked out of their apartment. Their lease didn’t allow for pets, and if their landlord heard one too-loud bark from Twilight, they would be out on the streets again before they could blink.
Twilight and Wild had worked too hard to get where they were now, he wasn’t going to jeopardize everything by taking a chance.
He didn't want to try to resist the shift either. It was possible, now that he was older, but it still wasn’t pleasant. Young werewolves had no choice but to answer the call of their magic. If Twilight had been younger, his magic would have overwhelmed him, forcing him to shift. At his age though, he had more control over it. It took all his concentration for the entire night, and left him feeling worn out and exhausted the next morning, but it was possible. Wild wasn’t in any position to help him all night as he resisted the shift, though. It just hadn’t been the most appealing option.
The last week hadn’t been kind to Wild. The poltergeist's deathday anniversary had fallen only a day before the full moon, and they still weren’t in any shape to be looking after a werewolf who was resisting their shift. They should be resting. They probably were resting right now, tucked away safely in the pair’s apartment.
Twilight should have listened to Time’s warnings and stayed home despite all that. When the god had heard that Twilight was heading out despite the rumors of Hunters in the area, he’d been reluctant to let Twilight go. The god had offered the use of his manor’s basement as a safe place for the werewolf to shift in for the night, but Twilight had turned down the offer. Being in wolf form and unable to roam about as he pleased was almost as bad as trying to resist the shift altogether. It made him restless. When he was shifted, he was truly a wild animal, for all that he retained his human intelligence. His instincts ran deep, and they demanded he move.
When Twilight had told Time he still intended to go out, the god had insisted that he not go alone. Twilight had seen the wisdom in that, at least. It was always good to run with a pack during the full moon, even when there wasn’t any danger.
Unfortunately, Wild was the one who usually came with him on the full moon. With him indisposed, his options were limited. He’d asked Sky, but the demon had an assignment that night so had regretfully declined. Four had said he had needed to stay home to finish up one of his commissions.
Wild, Four, and Sky were the only ones he felt comfortable enough to ask to run with him during the full moon. The group of eclectic misfits Time had taken under his wings was starting to become something like a pack. There was potential there, for something more. But for now, he couldn’t claim to be totally comfortable with all of them.
Don’t get him wrong, he’d mostly gotten over his distrust, but the thought of asking them for assistance in this manner made him cringe mentally. They were starting to become friends, but he didn’t want to admit he needed their help. He couldn’t imagine asking Legend if he wanted to go run around in the forest for a whole night. He could almost hear the sarcastic reply the siren would give him. Besides, Twilight was pretty sure that Legend had mentioned it was date night for him and Ravio, so the siren would have said no anyways.
So Twilight had resigned himself to taking up Time’s offer and spending the night trapped in a basement, out of sight of the full moon and with no room to run. He’d been shocked when Warriors had texted him with an offer to join Twilight on his hunt.
Twilight had known that he wasn’t the only one in their odd little group that hunted. Warriors was what vampires considered vegan. Usually, vampires got their blood from their local council, who set up food drives where magical creatures could donate blood. Twilight had even donated some of his own blood a few times. However, some vampires disliked the idea of drinking the blood of a sentient creature and turned instead to animal blood. It provided all the nutritional value needed for them to survive, although the taste left something to be desired. It also didn’t come with the temporary boost of power, both magical and physical, that blood from sentient creatures came with.
Despite these drawbacks, Warriors seemed content to only drink animal blood. He even refused to drink from any of his ‘Coven,’ which Twilight interpreted to mean their little group of eight. For some of them, it was a simple inability. Wild, for instance, didn’t actually have blood, as he had no true physical form. Even in the poltergeist’s corporeal form, ‘bleeding’ when he was injured was just an illusion and carried no nutritional value to a vampire.
Although Twilight wasn’t sure how Warriors knew, as he’d never drank from Hyrule, the vampire had once remarked that fae blood was so incredibly sweet that no one would be able to stand more than a mouthful.
As for Time, Twilight knew that Warriors had tried to drink from him once, during the beginning of their friendship, and long before Twilight was even born. From what he could gather, the situation had gone quite sour. Gods’ blood was apparently not healthy for vampires to ingest.
So Warriors strictly drank animal blood. Although it was possible to buy, it wasn’t easy, especially not in the quantities that Warriors needed it in. It wasn’t safe to raise such an obvious red flag. Not only that, but according to Warriors, animal blood was disgusting after it had cooled. It was tolerable when drank warm from the body of an animal, but cold blood was apparently repulsive.
So Warriors hunted most of his food himself.
He hadn’t had a chance to get out and hunt in a while, apparently too caught up in council politics. So when he’d heard from Time that Twilight needed a partner to run with for the full moon, he’d offered himself as an option. Twilight wasn’t the fondest of the vampire- they clashed too much for that- but they were kind of friends, and he’d take any chance to avoid being trapped in the basement for the night.
So they piled into the beat-up old car that Twilight had bought for a pitiful 5,000 rupees several decades ago, (it was a miracle that the old thing still worked,) and drove out to the forest Twilight usually roamed during the full moon.
The night had gone remarkably well. The woods were as devoid of hylians as ever. Not even a whiff of them could be found. It had actually been pleasant. Twilight honestly wouldn’t say no if Warriors offered to come with him again.
Spending the full moon with his cub and occasionally Sky or Four was nice, but no one else had ever actually hunted alongside him before. Wild always spent the night in his incorporeal form, which meant he couldn’t touch anything, which meant no hunting. Minish were vegetarian, and Four usually stayed in his small form all night, riding in Twilight’s fur, and the one time Sky joined Twilight, he’d politely declined Twilight’s offer of some of the buck they’d run down.
He’d run and hunted the entire night, and Warriors had been able to keep up with him, take down prey with him, and partake in the spoils of the hunt right alongside him. The vampire’s enhanced speed and strength let him keep pace with Twilight, stride for stride. They’d caught a pair of rabbits, and Twilight had patiently waited for Warriors to drain them of their blood before eating the meat left behind.
Warriors was part of the group that may eventually become Twilight's pack, and Twilight could spare a bit of the blood from the kill for him. (That, and Warriors’ rumbling stomach was a little annoying.)
As the light of dawn started to shine above the trees, the pair returned to where they’d stashed Twilight’s clothes, and Twilight was finally able to easily shift back to his hylian form.
He was exhausted. The exhaustion of running all night never affected him much in his wolven form, but when he turned back to a hylian, it hit him like a strong kick to the chest from a cow from Mrs. Lonlon’s farm. His body ached from the strain of the full moon, and he felt like he could sleep for days. He’d long since learned to not fight the transformation unless absolutely necessary, but just because he let himself transform didn’t mean it didn't sap him of his energy. He always ended up having to take the day after off of work.
Once Twilight got his pants back on, Warriors slung Twilight’s arm around his shoulder to help him walk. “Come on, Wolfie,” He teased, “We can't have you taking a nap out here in the middle of the forest. You’re filthy enough as is.” Despite his words, Warriors didn’t seem to mind the fact that the dust and dirt that covered Twilight was rubbing off on him.
Twilight groaned, stumbling alongside the Vampire. “Like you're one to talk. You’ve got blood on your shirt.” Twilight didn’t mind the blood. Being covered in dirt and a little bit of blood was pretty par for the course after a night of running in the woods. As long as the blood wasn’t his, it was fine.
Warriors hummed. “Blood splatter is aesthetic. You look like a cowboy who got drunk and fell into a pit of mud.”
Twilight groaned, trying to come up with a retort to that. Before he could, everything went horribly wrong.
~~~
Twilight thought it wildly unfair that hunters sometimes used spells and runes in their traps. Personally, he thought it was ridiculous that some witches and psychics gave in to hunters; demands and helped them. No doubt they were promised safety and protection if they helped the hunters, or a bribe of some kind, but Twilight doubted the hunters ever upheld their end of the bargain. Once the hunters got what they wanted, He could only assume it was right back to the witch’s or psychics' home to kill them.
If hunters truly believed that magic was dangerous and needed to be eradicated, then using magic for their own means made no sense. They couldn’t have it both ways. But believing magic in itself was dangerous was also nonsensical, so perhaps expecting rationality from hunters was a mistake on Twilight’s part.
He should have taken Time’s offer, and stayed in the manor’s basement. Being a little uncomfortable for the night was better than being dead. But no, instead, he was sitting in the middle of the forest, in a hunter’s trap made of pure Cold Iron that had been forged by magical hands. One second it hadn’t been there and the next it was. Proof that some witch or psychic had helped the hunters who had set this trap.
Traitors.
Twilight wasn’t sure what to do except sit on the ground and wait for their captors to check their traps. The ground was uncomfortable, but he didn’t have the strength to stand by his own power. Warriors were busy pacing the edges of the cage that had appeared around them, checking for weaknesses. Twilight could assume there were no flaws in the cage's design, or they would’ve been out of there already.
If the cage had been made out of normal metal, Warriors would have been able to break it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t regular metal. Contrary to popular belief, silver was not harmful to werewolves or any other magical creatures. There wasn’t any sort of metal that was outright harmful to magical creatures.
Cold Iron wasn’t painful to touch, although faes sometimes did get mild burns from prolonged contact. What made the Iron a favorite of hunters worldwide was its natural magic-dampening property. Anything made out of the Cold Iron was much harder to affect with magic, and dampened the magical abilities of those around it, blocking magic from passing through it or affecting it. Due to this, Cold Iron- although not directly harmful- could be just as dangerous as silver was supposed to be.
Like when you were trapped in a cage made out of the metal and were going to be murdered if you couldn’t find a way out before the hunters came to check on their traps.
The Iron didn’t cut off their magic entirely. Twilight’s senses were still as sharp as ever. Warriors’ fangs elongated as he grew more and more frustrated and panicked, and Twilight was sure the vampire had retained his heightened senses as well. If Twilight stretched out his magic he could still feel the earth beneath his feet and the natural magic flowing through it. However, only a few feet under the surface lay more bars of Cold Iron that completed the cage and cut them off from the rest of the world.
It wouldn’t have been a very good trap if someone could simply dig their way out, after all.
Cold Iron wasn’t all-powerful. If someone had enough magical strength, they would be able to shrug off the effects of the Iron quite easily. Time, as a god, would barely even notice it. Sky and Hyrule, the next oldest members of the group, were also skilled enough that they would be able to free themselves.
But Time wasn’t here. None of the others were here. It was only Warriors and Twilight. Twilight had tried to call the others the moment he’d realized how trapped they truly were, but the cell signal was too weak out in the forest. Twilight had even resorted to offering up a prayer to Time in a distant hope the god would hear him and come to help, no matter how much he disliked praying to gods. His pride was not worth more than their lives. It was a desperate attempt, and Twilight wasn’t surprised it didn’t work. The Iron blocked even that, it seemed.
There was no way that they would be able to free themselves from the cage. Not the way they were currently, at least.
Twilight couldn’t even manage to shift into his wolf form, as exhausted as he was and sitting in a cage of Cold Iron. The rabbit blood Warriors had drunk wasn't nearly enough to fully satisfy him, and animal blood didn’t give vampires the same boost in strength the blood of sentient creatures did. Warriors was still hungry, which combined with the Iron, made him as weak as a regular hylian. He needed powerful blood to gain the supernatural strength he’d need to break them out of the prison they were in.
Warriors needed blood to break them out, but there wasn’t any. None except for Twilight’s.
Which was a fact Twilight did not want to think about. He sighed, pushing the thought out of his head for now. He let his head fall back. It thunked against the bars of the cage dully. He hated being caged. He was made to run free, not sit still.
The silence was stifling.
The seconds ticked away.
They probably had a few hours at most before the hunters came to check the traps they’d laid. The hunters would be hoping to find an unsuspecting werewolf still weak from the full moon trapped in their cages. They wouldn’t be expecting a vampire as well, but Twilight was sure they wouldn’t hesitate to kill Warriors either. It was only a matter of the hylians shooting them through the bars of the cage. They wouldn’t even need to open the cage to slaughter them.
None of the others would start to worry over the fact that they hadn’t returned for several more hours, even with how cautious they’d all been recently because of the rumors about hunters. Wild was the only one who’d miss him if Twilight didn’t return, and it was doubtful they'd even notice right away. The poltergeist had been in a state of torpor when Twilight had left, and they likely hadn’t even woken up yet, still resting from their deathday anniversary. In Warriors' case, it also wouldn’t raise any red flags if he didn’t return immediately. Although the vampire spent most of his time at Time’s house, he also had his own apartment that he stayed in occasionally. No one would think it was odd if he didn’t come back right away.
The others probably wouldn’t even start to panic until noon, and by then it’d be far too late.
As the sun rose higher and higher, and the world grew brighter around them, Twilight tensed more and more. His heartbeat was so loud he could hear it, and he had no doubt Warriors could too. He could only think of one way out of this situation. He didn’t want to suggest it, didn’t want to violate Warriors’ boundaries, but he couldn’t see another way out.
Twilight, as weak as he was, couldn’t get them out. Warriors, in the state he was in, also couldn’t get them out. He needed the blood of a sentient creature to be strong enough to free them. The only source of blood in this cage was Twilight. There was an obvious solution, but Twilight hesitated to say it.
“Warriors…” He began, not sure how to begin, but also knowing they didn’t have time to delay.
“Stop it. Don’t,” Warriors’ voice was tight. Panic was heavy in his tone, but Twilight could hear his attempt to keep calm. “I know what you're going to say, and I’m not going to, I refuse.”
Twilight scowled. “So you’re going to let us die instead?”
“No, we’re going to find a way out, I promise, I promise we’ll get out soon, but I’m not going to drink from you.“ Warriors wasn’t looking at Twilight. He hadn’t looked at him since they got trapped in this cage.
Again, Twilight didn’t want to push. But he would rather Warriors be upset than dead. “Warriors, you need to drink my blood. We’ll die otherwise. We don’t have any other choice-”
Warriors let out a short, wordless yell, silencing Twilight. He was facing away from the werewolf, gripping tightly at the bars of the cage. The vampire’s heartbeat, which was normally slow and steady no matter how stressed he was, had actually picked up enough for Twilight to hear it.
“No,” He gritted out. “No.”
Twilight cringed. Warriors wasn’t going to cooperate with him.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Better than being dead. Better than being dead. Better than being dead.
The phrase repeated in his head like a mantra. Twilight lifted a shaking hand. He let his teeth elongate, letting the trickle of wild magic that would still respond to him between his exhaustion and Cold Iron rise to the surface. He raised his wrist to his mouth.
Warriors noticed his movement, turning towards him. Twilight saw the moment Warriors realized what he was doing. The horror in his wide eyes was obvious. Warriors lunged, not wasting time speaking, but it was too late. By the time Warriors easily ripped Twilight’s hand away from his mouth, Twilight had already dug his fangs in deep, drawing blood.
They both sat still for a moment, panting. Twilight’s wrist stung, but he’d had much worse before, and the adrenaline pumping through his veins dulled the pain. The taste of blood was less pleasant in his mouth now that he was in hylian form.
Twilight could see Warriors’ eyes flick to Twilight’s dripping wrist. The scent of his blood was intoxicating, doubly so to a vampire who never let himself indulge in the blood of sentient creatures. His stomach rumbled loudly, demanding sustenance. The sun’s light peaked over the trees, warning them of waning time.
A beat of time passed.
And then another.
Warriors whimpered, making Twilight startle. He was scared, Twilight realized. Warriors were scared of the blood dripping freely from Twilight's wrist. A twist of regret pulled at Twilight’s heart, but he lifted his hand away from where Warriors was holding it. The vampire’s hand fell away from Twilight’s wrist with no resistance when the werewolf pulled away. He held it up in front of Warriors’ mouth, offering his blood freely, hoping it would make it easier for Warriors.
Twilight had never seen Warriors cry before, but he did now. Ugly, quiet sobs weakly shook the vampire’s frame. His face was a mess of tears, and his hands clutched at his shirt as if to stop himself from reaching out to Twilight. His long, unnaturally strong nails tore the white fabric. Twilight’s heart dropped. He may not be the closest with Warriors out of all the members in their little group, and they might not be pack yet, but they were almost pack, and Twilight didn’t want to see Warriors harmed.
But being harmed was better than being dead.
Twilight spoke softly, trying to be reassuring. “I know you don’t want to, but we can’t die here. Wild needs me. The others still need you. We can’t die here.” His own voice was wavering as he spoke, but he injected as much surety he could into his speech. “I want you to do this. I’m giving you permission to do this.” Warriors shook his head again, and as he did so, the blood from Twilight’s wrist, which he was still holding up to his face, smeared across his mouth. Twilight could see Warriors’ resolve start to waver.
“You won’t hurt me. Please, Warriors.” Twilight was begging now. Warriors was still crying openly, his breaths coming heavily now, no doubt catching the scent of Twilight’s freshly spilled blood in every intake of air.
“I don’t want to.” Warriors moans, low and distressed, voice thick with tears, eyes hazy. Twilight got the feeling that when Warriors looked at him, the vampire wasn’t seeing Twilight anymore, but someone else entirely.
“I know,” Twilight assured him. “But the damage is already done. I’m already bleeding, and we need to get out of here. Please, Warriors. Just drink.”
That seemed to spark something in Warriors. Instead of continuing to sit slumped in front of Twilight, the vampire flung himself backward. He fell back onto his hands, and a beam of early morning sunlight streaked across his face, glinting off the sharp points of his fangs.
“No,” he denied with a snarl. “No, I won’t-” Twilight didn’t wait any longer. He couldn’t afford to be patient anymore. Their lives were at stake, and he wasn’t going to let himself get killed. He wasn’t going to let Warriors get killed.
Better than being dead, better than being dead, better than being dead…
Twilight lunged forward after the vampire. Despite Warriors still being stronger than Twilight was right now, the werewolf found no resistance tugging Warriors back towards himself. The vampire ended up nearly in his lap, struggling away from the werewolf, but his struggles were weak and his eyes remained wide and nearly unseeing.
Even when Twilight removed one of his hands to press his torn wrist to Warriors’ mouth again, the vampire still wasn’t able to get out of his hold. Warriors still fought, but the struggles were weak. He twisted his head away, pressing his mouth tightly closed, and didn’t let any of the blood pass his lips.
Twilight let go with his other hand, but before Warriors could scramble away again, Twilight grabbed his jaw and forced his head back towards Twilight's waiting wrist. Twilight was starting to feel nauseous. He hated this. He couldn’t believe he was doing this, but they didn’t have any other choice.
Better than being dead, better than being dead, better than being dead…
By this point, Warriors’ mouth and chin were stained with Twilight’s blood. It dripped down his throat, and it made it look like Warriors was the one bleeding, not Twilight.
It took Twilight a few moments to realize he was muttering, pleading with Warriors over and over. “It’s already done, I’m already bleeding, just take it, Warriors, please.”
Warriors couldn’t hold out forever, and his mouth opened, only a little, but enough for Twilight to notice. He took full advantage of it, shoving his wrist more firmly against Warriors’ lips. Warriors choked on the trickle of blood, gagging, but Twilight didn’t let up.
When Warriors continued to choke on the blood, Twilight pressed a hand to the elder’s throat and rubbed, forcing him to swallow. Utter shame welled up inside him. He was treating his friend like he was a dog who wouldn’t take its medicine.
Better than being dead, better than being dead, better than being dead…
Warriors twitched, and the fight seemed to bleed out of him all at once. His mouth opened, tongue coming out to swipe at Twilight's wrist. He wasn’t struggling, instead going completely limp in Twilight's arms. The werewolf let go of Warriors’ jaw, gentling his grip in response. The vampire's gaze seemed to refocus on Twilight’s face. He was still crying, tears flowing down his face as he swiped up the blood still flowing from Twilight’s injuries. Whatever memory he’d been caught up in before looked like it had lost its grip on Warriors’ mind, letting him see he wasn’t caught in whatever part of his past made him so resistant to drinking Twilight’s blood.
They remain like that for several minutes. It was long enough for Twilight to relax, his stance fading into cradling Warriors instead of restraining him. Twilight’s gaze became distant, staring up into the canopy above them to ignore the pain of Warriors licking at his open wound. His pleas for Warriors to drink had turned into weak reassurances. “It’s okay. Take as much as you need, it’s okay…” Eventually, his blood flow slowed down significantly in response to the vampire's saliva. Warrior's gaze had turned distant.
When Warriors pulled away again, Twilight let him. The two sat on the forest floor next to each other, disheveled from their struggle. Twilight could feel himself shaking and could see Warriors was too. It took another good several minutes before Twilight could get his voice to work.
“Wars…”
Warriors shook his head, not meeting Twilight's eyes. He was still crying silently, and Twilight felt a pang of deep regret in his chest. In a burst of movement, the older man stood, turning away from Twilight. His hands were still shaking as he brought them up to feel the blood staining the lower half of his face. He smoothed down the front of his shirt habitually, and Twilight is sure that Warriors wasn’t paying attention to his actions, especially as he smeared blood all down the front of the shirt.
Warriors stumbled away from Twilight, once more clutching on the bars of the cage. This time, when the vampire yanked, the bars violently tore away from their positions. Warriors repeated the actions, making a gap big enough for them to get out of.
Twilight flinched at the sudden viciousness and strength of Warriors’ movements. He didn’t have any right to. He’d known that drinking his blood would make Warriors stronger, would make him able to overcome the dampening aura of the Cold Iron. He didn’t have any right to be frightened of Warriors. That didn't stop his flinch when Warriors turned back to him.
If Twilight thought Warriors’ grip was tighter than perhaps necessary as he hauled Twilight to his feet and helped him out of the cage, the werewolf said nothing.
The second Twilight stepped out of the cage, it felt as if he’d been electrocuted. The ambient magic of the world normally remained as background radiation, but they’d both been cut off from it for nearly an hour. The feeling of it coming back was intense. Twilight stumbled as Warriors also buckled under the feeling, and they ended up sinking back down to the ground.
There was no way that the pair of them would make it back to Twilight’s car in the state they were in. They sat like that, together in the dirt, for a while, both of them panting from exertion. Every second, Twilight felt their chances of surviving slipping further and further away. It didn’t matter if they had gotten out of the cage if they couldn’t make it far enough away before the hunters came. It was already well past sunrise, and with every second their chances only grew slimmer.
Feeling the brush of Warriors’ magic, so much stronger than normal, made Twilight jolt. It danced around Twilight, his magic was as shaky as Warriors’ hands still were, and it quickly shied away from him, which Twilight fought to not feel hurt by. He’d harmed Warriors, in ways he’d probably never understand. It was understandable that Warriors was wary about him right now. Warriors’ magic spread out, connecting to the ambient magic of the world
Warriors spoke for the first time since he’d drank from Twilight. “Time, please. Fuck, Time, we need help. Please, Time, please…” It wasn’t a traditional prayer, but if it wasn’t effective then Twilight would eat his boots. If Time heard that prayer coming from Warriors, he would be here as soon as possible. Twilight was still wary around the powerful man, but he knew the god had a soft spot for the creatures he’d adopted, which definitely included Warriors, and more recently, Twilight.
After Warriors spoke, everything fell still for a while, as they waited to see if Time would hear his prayer.
Twilight didn’t intend to, but with the exhaustion from the previous night, and all the horrors of this morning, he can’t help but slump against the ground. His eyes slowly slipped shut, despite his best efforts. The last thing Twilight saw before he faded into oblivion was the sight of a familiar face with red and blue markings, and fingers pressing against the pulse point on his neck
~~~
When Twilight woke, he was back in Time’s manor. This was the room that Time had offered to Twilight. When the werewolf had refused to move in, the god had simply smiled and told him the room would always be there if he needed someplace to stay. Wild had a similar room, right next door to Twilights.
His room was modestly decorated, yet still had nicer ornaments than what Twilight could afford in his apartment. The walls were painted dark forest green, with oak furniture stained dark brown. A few tasteful paintings of forest scenes were scattered across the walls. There were little personal mementos in the room, only a few sets of Twilight’s spare clothes tucked into the dresser, just in case. Across from the bed was a large bay window, with a nice view of the woods where Time's manor resided.
Currently, the heavy black curtains were drawn shut across them, and bright sunlight was leaking into the shady room around their edges.
Twilight sat up, every muscle protesting his movements. As he pulled back the covers on the bed that had been neatly tucked around him, he realized that he was dressed in one of his spare sets of clothing, only a loose sweatshirt and a pair of shorts, more sleep clothes than anything else.
He reached a hand up to rub at his newly forming headache and winced as a bolt of pain ran through his forearm. When he pulled up the hoodie’s sleeve, he discovered pristine white bandages covering from right below his elbow all the way to his wrist.
He stared at the bandages for a moment, before the events of- yesterday? this morning? Twilight was disturbed to find he didn't know how long ago it had been- came flooding back to him.
Oh goddesses, how long has it been? Where was Warriors? What happened?
Twilight quickly got out of bed, fighting off the headache that set in on him as he crossed the room to the sturdy oak door. Opening the door and peering out into the hallway, he didn’t see anyone. All of the other rooms on the hallways- Wild’s, Sky’s, and Legend’s- were closed, which was unusual. Usually, there was someone wandering in the manor. But now all the doors were shut tight, and Twilight couldn’t hear movement from behind any of them. It was impossible to tell if anyone was here and just being quiet, or if everyone had cleared out when Time had brought Warriors and Twilight back.
Twilight ventured further from his room, hoping to find someone who explained what had happened after he'd passed out. And exactly how long it had been since he’d passed out.
It was at least the afternoon, which meant that he’d left Wild alone for nearly a day by now. Normally, he’d be confident that Wild could handle themself, but with how they were still reeling from his deathday, Twilight was worried. He hoped someone had gone to check up on them. Just to be sure, he peeked his head into Wild’s room, disappointed but not surprised to find the poltergeist wasn’t there.
As he wandered slowly down the hall, trying to ignore the aches that always plagued him after a full moon, he found that not all the doors were closed. The door to the bathroom at the end of the hall was left open, and noise was emanating from inside.
The sight inside the bathroom wasn’t pretty.
Warrior was kneeling in front of the toilet, bent over with his head in his hands. He was in a new pair of shorts, devoid of the blood that had stained his pants, and he was missing a shirt. He’d obviously recently showered, as he was still dripping wet and the bathroom was still steamed up, water dripping down the mirror from the condensation.
Time was kneeling next to him, a supportive hand rubbing his back, passing over the red and blue marks on Warriors back that signified his devotion to the god. Warriors was shaking more now than he had been in the cage. Dripping hair hid Warriors' face from him, but Twilight could hear the sobs coming from him.
As he watched, the vampire hunched forward, his entire body tensing as he gagged into the toilet. Nothing came up, but a thin string of bile dripped from his mouth into the toilet bowl. It was faintly tinted pink.
On the counter were the remnants of the bandages Twilight assumed had been used on his arm, and a pile of bloody fabric that he identified as Warriors clothes from last night. After a few horrified moments where he debated on what to do next, Time caught sight of Twilight. The god gestured the werewolf away, mouthing “We’ll talk later.” It felt like a promise, and insidious guilt crawled up Twilight’s back
As Twilight quickly removed himself from the hallway and back to his room, his heightened senses picked up a moan from Warriors, his voice thick.
“I didn’t want to. But I had to. He made me-!” The low rumble of Time’s quiet response was cut off by Twilight gently closing the door of his room.
Slowly, in a way that had nothing to do with his aches and pains, he retreated to his bed.
~~~
Twilight had found his old bloody clothes from the night before, set on his desk in  a plastic bag so the blood wouldn't stain the wood. His phone was set next to the bag. When he unlocked it, he saw Wild had sent him a couple of texts.
Wild 👻
[11:12] Hey where r u? Did you ever make it back home this morning
[11:32] Did you die ☠️
Okay maybe that was a poor choice of words 😂
[11:59] ?? hello?
[12:22] Where are you?
[12:32] Twi I know you check your phone more often than this
[1:04] Where are you?
I’ll come find you if I have to
[1:25] Sky showed up and he brought takeout. Hope u feel better!! 😁
Twilight was glad that Time had sent someone to go check on Wild. Even if it was Sky, who should have been resting himself from his mission the night before. Obviously, Sky either didn’t know everything that had happened this morning or didn’t tell Wild everything he knew. If he had, Wild would be more worried. They probably would have made their way over to the manor to check on him even though they should also be relaxing.
Hopefully, the pair were relaxing, and when Twilight got home, he would find them both passed out on the couch with a movie playing on their crappy old TV.
Twilight made his bed, replied to Wild’s texts with reassurances that he was alright, which got him a happy string of emojis in reply, and then flopped down on top of his freshly made bed, and waited.
He half expected Four to pop out of the wall at some point, but the little minish remained conspicuously absent. He resorted to alternatively staring at the ceiling and watching the minutes tick by on the clock on his wall, trying to distract himself. If he thought about what happened for too long, his hands started shaking. So he tried no to think about it.
Over an hour had passed by the time Time knocked on Twilight’s door.
Twilight sat up, calling out for Time to enter. The god came in quietly, taking a seat at Twilight’s desk as the werewolf remained seated on the edge of this bed.
“How is he?” Twilight asked hesitantly, meeting Time’s eyes for a moment before breaking eye contact. Time shook his head.
“Not well, but he’s resting now.” Twilight already knew that the vampire wasn’t doing well. He could only hope he was actually resting. “Warriors has a bad history involving feeding from other people. I won’t tell you how so, that's not my place, but needless to say, he’s had some bad experiences.”
Twilight nodded. He had known this before he’d done what he'd done, but he still believed it was the only way for them to have a good chance of survival. He didn’t know the specifics, and no one had ever told him, but with the disdain Warriors had for drinking sentient creature blood, it was obvious something had happened.
“I had to.” The defense was true, but it felt weak to Twilight.
Time’s expression didn’t change. He didn’t look disappointed, or angry, but not pleased either. His expression was tight, and the stress was evident in his tight posture, even if he didn’t let it show on his face.
“You betrayed his trust.”
Twilight bowed his head. He felt horrible, but he couldn't regret what he’d done. His actions ensured they were still here and still alive, instead of rotting in the forest with a bullet through their skulls. It had ensured that they were still here, and that Twilight was alive to return to his cub.
“The ends justified the means. We’re both here, we’re both alive. You know we probably wouldn’t be if I hadn’t done it.” Twilight tried to sound firm, but his voice wavered. He knew it was for the best, logically. Anything was better than being dead. But he hadn’t wanted to do it. He wished he hadn’t needed to do it, but he had. It was better that Twilight had hurt Warriors, if it meant that the vampire wasn’t dead.
Time sighed, shutting his eyes tightly. He looked incredibly pained, but he made no move to deny Twilight’s words. “I think it might be best if you stay away from the manor, for a little while. And on the next full moon, please just take my offer to use the basement to shift.” Time huffed. “Sky took your car back to your apartment, so I’ll drive you home.” Twilight had nothing to say to that, and quietly gathered up his bloody clothes.
It probably was for the best if he stayed away from the manor a little while. Warriors would need time to heal, and Twilight, if he was being honest with himself, would need time too.
He wouldn't regret it. He couldn’t regret it. It was better than being dead.
