1. Who is/are your comfort character(s)?

Putting TV show Mike Nesmith feels like a cop-out so while I will include him, I will also include Miles Edgeworth (Ace Attorney) and my own little pathetic OC Rosemary.

11. Favourite extracurricular activity and why?

This could be so many things. I'm gonna avoid saying art and music because I did study them briefly. Organising is fun to a degree - I also enjoy sewing and mending things, and I can embroider! I made my boyfriend a Yellow Submarine embroidered image once. I just like bringing life back to something that falls apart because it was loved. And also knowing I have the skill is good for my brain.

21. Something you've kept since childhood?

Backstory time: I've got the inside music mechanism of a music box my nan gave me when I was young. I ripped it out of the box when I was in one of my 'must disassemble' phase, but in a way it made it easier for me to keep it and the song. I never knew what the song was until about 2 years ago, and it ended up being 'You've Got a Friend' by Carole King. So that song reminds me of my nan now and that she loved me.

33. The last adventure you've been on?

Probably to this little town called Mobberley near me - we went for food for my boyfriend's birthday and then went on a 2 hour wander and walk around the fields and forests.

2.) Of the ones you've written, what's your slowest slowburn? How slow is it?

Oooh, that is a good question. I admit, I'm impatient. My slowburns are usually still relatively speedy. Though The Pied Piper's Army of Rats does take six fics until Hartley and Cisco finally kiss. And while Hartley and Cisco get together in chapter 2 of 2 in (This Isn't) The Timeline You Were Looking For, in universe it takes them, like... two years to get their act together.

7.) Have you written any romantic couples that you think would be better off as friends? Or even enemies?

So while I do have fun writing Snowbarry at times, I think Caitlin and Barry are better off as friends. They've got a great platonic chemistry on the show, but it's not like with Caitlin and Cisco where I just... can't with the romantic ship. Honestly, I started writing it because I knew someone else who enjoyed the ship and wanted to write something I knew they'd really enjoy. And I don't regret getting into the ship, because they can be very cute to write as a romantic couple, but overall I definitely prefer them with a friendship.

15.) Are there any relationship dynamics/tropes you would never write?

Alpha/beta/omega stuff. I don't mind reading that sometimes, but it's not really my cup of tea and I just can't ever see myself writing any at all. I think it just hits the wrong balance of possessiveness + sex + kink for this ace, especially since it's got that heavy element of unreality going for it.

And I tend to stick with softer kinks in general as the harder stuff are difficult for me to get into the right headspace for. So I'm unlikely to ever have characters go too much beyond spanking or otherwise mildly roughing each other up for kinks that involve some kind of violence in them. At least when it comes to kinky scenes in a fic itself, anyway. A character might have a multitude of kinks that are mentioned, but never actually depicted.

33.) Are there any canon romantic couples, in any media, that you just can't stand?

Gwen/Jack from Torchwood never actually get together, but they are canonically interested in each other and I really hate the ship. Gwen's my least favorite Torchwood character to begin with, so honestly that ship was doomed from the start with me. Likely unsurprisingly that I don't like Gwen/Owen either. Or Gwen/Rhys. Considering she told Rhys that she was cheating on him with Owen and then retconned Rhys immediately after so he wouldn't remember and thus couldn't decide to leave her (and then he winds up married to her)... there are words for that situation, none of them polite.

And while I still think the early flirtations between Oliver and Felicity on Arrow are cute, I think they kinda brought out the worst in each other as romantic partners. Felicity making a scene at Barry and Iris' wedding rehearsal when she mistakenly thought Oliver was proposing to her only to turn around and force Barry and Iris - who'd already had their wedding interrupted by Nazis from another Earth - to share their wedding with her and Oliver... probably the best example right there of Felicity's worst, most self centered impulses getting catered to and Oliver just... goes with what she wants. And while Felicity isn't solely to blame for Oliver growing more rigidly uncompromising as the series went on, she definitely contributed to his slow descent towards becoming an off brand cop in the final season.

in lore her favorite book is definitely a foraging encyclopedia relevant to jorvik- which is a cop out answer because its not real lol. I don't think sadie reads all that much, but I think she'd like Useless Magic by Florence Welch as well as the handbook for the ttrpg Wanderhome by Jay Dragon. movie wise- they definitely where a spirit kid. as an adult... maybe dnd honor amongst thieves? as a recent pick for them. I think they'd like dnd / ttrpgs in general as well as comedies in that realm. (lotr gets an honorary mention here too- thats a movie series but yanno)

oh man this is so hard. looks wise, definitely Shadowheart from baldur's gate 3. personality wise... Caduceus Clay from critical role :) they're different in a lot of ways to be fair, but they both really like nature and eating foraged goods. They're both also ace + neurodivergent and love their friends and doing things for them. I also think they share that kind of.... young, naive, out of their depth, but still trying to be wise beyond their years kinda thing? idk they're not *the same* or anything, but I could see them getting along and having a fine day in the blooming grove (Cad's home / temple / graveyard) or in valedale just drinkin tea and foraging and looking for bugs and frogs <3

1) Across Time - Inuyasha AU where Weiss gets thrown back in time to the ancient past, where she meets two demons (Yang and Blake) warring against each other over a misunderstanding.

2) Alpha’s Devotion - Omega’s Strength, but from Winter’s POV.

3) Bears, Oh My - An exhausted Winter, lost on a hike, comes across a cabin where Yang lives with her three pet bears.

4) Brave New World - Continuation of the Dishonored AU where Ruby and Winter reflect on the new Mantle.

5) Bruised - Third installment to the ace!Yang AU. 

6) Coming Home - Based on Dash’s Tiny Knight AU, Princess Blake is betrayed and stranded far from home and must rely on a reticent knight named Weiss to return to her kingdom.

7) Complications Always Arise - Papa Schnee is demanding Weiss marry before he’ll allow her to take his place as head of the SDC, so Yang volunteers to pretend to be Weiss’ beloved. No one else knows the relationship is fake, least of all Blake and Winter, and it’s just a bunch of pain.

8) Divided - Continuation of the By Moonlight AU where Whitley returns to the castle and Winter’s not upset by that- and Winter’s upset by the fact she’s not upset and has to figure out why her inner wolf is cool with this when she should, by all rights, be furious.

9) Dragonsbane - Mage Knight Winter hears tale of a dragon in the countryside that the local villages wish to see vanquished. Winter, however, has other plans.

10) Eye of the Beholder - Blinded and near death after a battle, Winter is rescued by the mysterious Yang and is nursed back to health despite her protests otherwise. (It’s a Medusa!AU.)

11) Fabled - Fable 3 AU where Princess Ruby and Princess Yang are forced to confront the fact that Queen Raven has lost her fucking mind, only to discover that fear drove the woman insane- a fear they must confront themselves.

12) Fields of Love - Farmer Yang offers a job and housing to apparent single mother Winter and her young daughter Penny. What starts as a kind gesture grows into something so much more.

13) Full Circle - Van Helsing (2004) AU, Winter and Weiss, amnesiacs employed by the church to handle all manner of unholy problems, are sent to discover what happened to King Taiyang. Along the way, they become wrapped up in a centuries spanning prophecy and a bloodline hanging in the balance.

14) High Bar, Low Blow - Yang owns a bar where the gimmick is that everyone’s an out of work actor and the staff is staging an ongoing drama on par with a soap opera to keep their customers coming back. Winter joins the staff and then things get a bit real.

15) Hoodlums and Hijinks - Robin Hood AU where Princess Winter and Princess Weiss are just as in favor for overthrowing the king as the group of bandits run by Ruby, Yang, and Blake. 

16) Last One 2: Electric Boogaloo (title subject to change) - a sequel to Last One where the haunt continues.

17) Lexical Access - Sequel to Tip of the Tongue, where Yang gives her girlfriend a bit of roleplaying payback.

18) Little Red - Carmen Sandiego AU where Ruby was kidnapped adopted by a group of thieves and raised to become the world’s greatest thief, but a chance meeting with Penny via a stolen phone opens her eyes to the wider world, and she meets the rebellious heiress Weiss, street smart Blake, and brawler Yang, creating a team that works to foil Ruby’s former friends while eluding capture by mysterious operatives with a somewhat familiar white color scheme...

19) Long Term Investment - Yang, a fae who lives in the woods, makes a deal with Princess Winter to save the Queen. The price? Winter’s firstborn. Winter misunderstands how she’s expected to get pregnant and Yang’s never actually intended to collect. Next thing Yang knows, Winter’s moving into the clearing beside her tree home.

20) Miscalculation - Another Omegaverse AU where Weiss is an omega and Blake and Yang are alphas, except Weiss lied and said she was an alpha when enrolling in Beacon and now she’s locked in a room with Blake and Yang on the verge of starting her heat. Sharing is caring.

21) More Than Words Can Say - Winter, rendered mute by a military accident early in her career, is honestly the best girlfriend Yang’s ever had. However, tonight’s the night they’ve decided to get intimate, and that includes showing some scars that they don’t show often. It’s less about sex and more about trust and intimacy.

22) Music of the Night - Phantom of the Opera AU where the mysterious, disfigured shade of the opera house, Weiss, finds herself at odds with the rich, jovial Yang in a competition for Blake’s heart. Then there’s Adam being a dick, too, and the opera house has never seen so much drama.

23) My Heart Will Go On - It’s the Titanic, but double the rich, unwilling-to-marry ladies and triple the won-a-ticket-to-a-ship ruffians. Penny’s there too; she, like Ruby, just really likes ships.

24) One Fucking Favor - Winter’s due for a long assignment and wants to make a sex tape for stress relief purposes. Yang doesn’t ask questions; she’s just the one with the camera. But then, Winter’s partner for the vid doesn’t show up. What’s Yang going to do about it?

25) Prophecy - Star Wars AU where Ruby, Yang, and Blake are trained as Jedi, Winter and Weiss are part of the clone army, and Ruby’s the chosen one. That’s a lot of pressure to put on someone, but Senator Salem is there to lend a helping hand...

26) Propositioned - Faunus experience bouts of heat; sometimes, they can safely ignore it and go about their lives, but every now and again, they really can’t. Concerned for Blake’s health as she’s skipped too many heats to be healthy, Yang sets up a partner for Blake’s heat. Blake’s not a fan but she does like the idea of banging Weiss Schnee.

27) Proven - ARK: Survival Evolved AU where Winter, after being ‘won’ by Yang, is taken into the bowels of the earth to learn how the underground tribes who inhabit the area survive in such an unforgiving environment. As she acclimates to the tribe’s ways, she finds herself carving out her own path, culminating in facing off against the Queen and proving herself worthy.

28) Reaping What You Sow - When Winter escaped to the countryside with Penny to start a farm, she knew she had her work cut out for her. In need of help and facing a harsh cold season, she hires Yang, a one armed drifter, to help her. The two end up needing the other more than they could’ve imagined.

29) Tear My Heart Open - Blake thought she understood how the world worked. As a member of the White Fang Gang, all she needed to do was keep everyone motivated to continue their ongoing street war against the police and authorities bent on keeping them down. But while running from the cops, she’s offered sanctuary in the home of one Weiss Schnee and her girlfriend, Yang. From there, her perception of the world is completely upended.

30) The Duel - After her father offered her hand in marriage to the winner of a tournament, Winter opted to assume a disguise and fight for the prize herself. In the final match, she faces Yang Xiao Long, a competitor she’s come to know quite well, and she finds her conviction to win wavering slightly. Is it enough to lose her the fight?

31) The Lies We Tell Ourselves - Weiss has made it; she’s opened her tattoo shop in Vale, well away from her father, and aside from a bad first impression with the florists across the parking lot, everything’s looking up for her- until her father finds her. Luckily, Blake’s been through some shit and doesn’t mind helping Weiss drive daddy dearest up the wall, even if it means letting her own parents think she’s dating Weiss. It’s not like either of them is going to catch feelings... unless...

32) The Princess’ Bride - After losing her fiancée to the dreaded White Fang Pirates, Yang vows to take to the sea herself and exact her revenge. Princess Weiss finds herself falling madly in love with Yang, who still loves Blake, and all this is thrown into even more chaos when Yang gets kidnapped and Blake comes back from the dead! 

33) Two for One - Yes, another Omegaverse AU. Five years after the fall of Beacon, Yang and Blake cross paths, each believing the other has spent the time keeping their mutual mate, Weiss, safe. When they realize Weiss is with neither of them, old wounds are torn open, but before they can resolve their dispute, Winter captures the both of them and hauls them to a remote part of Atlas where an SDC facility has been turned into a fortress. There, they find a mortally wounded Weiss clinging to life and raising twins daughters; she gives her mates until her death to endear themselves to their children, else the twins might opt to stay with Winter and be kept from Blake and Yang for good. Between learning about their kids, Blake and Yang navigate their complicated feelings and try to reconnect with Weiss, all while a sinister force gathers to destroy the fortress and steal the prize within.

34) Weaknesses - Loosely set in the Glamour AU, Yang is being forced to assume her mother’s position as leader of their vampire coven. Her fellow vamps disapprove of Yang’s werewolf girlfriend. Winter, of course, doesn’t care.

A Jikook Guide to Run! BTS: 1-20

Hi all! Welcome to part one of my overview of all jikook moments in Run! BTS and Run BEHIND. 

My biggest takeaway from these early episodes is that BH didn't quite know how to make a good variety show yet. Some of the set-ups are awkward and the guys are clearly still getting used to being on camera in this format. The jikook moments aren’t as frequent or obvious. As we go on, expect less “they look at each other in a maybe meaningful way” and more “then he sat down in his lap...” That said, this set of episodes includes both the priest skit and the cops skit, so if you’re into role-play, this was your era of Run!

Ep 6 “Sketch: Confession” (Ep: 2 / KM: 4)

The priest sketch that launched a thousand AUs...

3:30 - Jungkook comes in to “confess his sins” to Jimin, who is playing a priest and calls him “darling.” JK confesses to using Jin’s razor while also claiming to be the eldest in BTS. Jimin tells him that he’s so handsome, it must be that he’s blessed by God and can be forgiven for most things. Jimin tells JK to give him a hug to get forgiveness for his sins. As they hug, both are smiling and the onscreen text tells us how happy Jimin is and puts a little heart next to his face during the hug. Jimin strokes JK’s cheek after and it seems to make JK a little shy. Jimin calls out “bye, darling” as he leaves, then calls him “cutie” for the camera.  For comparison’s sake, Jimin hits V on the forehead and makes J-Hope do 50 push-ups to earn forgiveness. He hugs J-Hope at the end of it and the difference between how that hug feels versus the one with JK is clear as day.

The one that reminds you paintball is more fun to play than to watch

I’ll be honest, guys, between the masked helmets they’re wearing and the constant cutting around, I cannot follow the paintball games in this episode at all. I’m going to go out on a limb and say nothing particularly shippy happens during them. 

9:54 - JK picks up Jimin from behind and bounces him around for a while (we don’t know how long because the camera cuts before he’s done). It will be revealed in ep. 10 that this is part of JK’s secret mission, which is to get Jimin to say “please stop.” However, despite Jimin not looking thrilled at all the bouncing around, he doesn’t tell JK to stop.

Ep 8 “Treasure Hunt” (Ep: 2 / KM: 2)

The one where they run or ride ATVs to find flags in the woods

1:15 - Jimin says out of nowhere that he thinks JK is going to be running and tells him to be careful not to bump into anyone (I think - the subs are a little weird on this one).

13:09 - JK tries to take one of JM’s meal ticket flags. JM refuses and claims JK called him “trash.” JK (kind of?) denies this and throws his one flag on the ground in frustration. J-Hope grabs it and JK sulks a bit because he’s left with nothing. 

13:33 - Jimin reverses course and gives JK one of his flags. JK is delighted. RM asks why (apparently he, Jimin, and V had a deal to share their flags?) and Jimin just responds that Jungkook is very cute (which the on-screen texts puts a heart next to).  Jimin ends up giving a flag to V, too, but he makes him beg like a dog first. 

14:16 - Jimin calls JK over and gives him a brief hug / pat on the back

Ep 9 “Bungee Jump” (Ep: 1 / KM: 0.5)

The one where it is what it says on the tin

11:25 - Some jikookers have reported hearing JK say an un-captioned “pretty” here (sounds like yebbeo or yeebeun in Korean). I’ll be totally honest that I can’t really make it out, but I will put this note here in case others with better ears than mine want to check it out!

13:59 - JM has his arm around JK at the start of the shot here

Ep 10 “Spy for Silmido Island” (Ep: 2 / KM: 2)

The one where everyone eats a meal as they learn how JK has been doing secret missions the last three episodes

6:16 - JK explains that he failed his mission to get Jimin to say, “please stop.” We see flashbacks of JK trying - in addition to the above picking JM up, JK also pulled on his hair and gave him a shoulder rub (there is no explanation for why he thought that would be something JM would tell him to stop), and spraying him with a water bottle.  The main jikook takeaway from this and the confession episode seems to be that JM will let JK get away with anything because he think he’s cute. 

7:00 - We see that JM inadvertently made JK fail his mission to feed the camera man because, when JK held out food, JM got JK to feed him instead

Ep 11 "Back to School" (Ep: 3 / KM: 1)

The one where Suga dresses as a girl and gets hit on by the rest of the band

21:28 - Despite Jimin doing nothing but smiling in the sketch, JK says he's the day's MVP and is weirdly sincere about it

24:05 - YMMV on jeon-lous, but he does indeed do the tongue thing here when JM is flirting with girl-Yoongi

Ep 12 "Cops" (Ep: 4 / KM: 4)

The police sketch that launched ten thousand AUs...

6:46 - "Detective" Jungkook pulls "criminal" Jimin away by his collar 8:41 - After Jimin acts cute and says he's bored, JK comes over and slaps his upper thigh before throwing Jimin over his shoulder and slapping his butt. When JK puts him down, Jimin just looks at him with a dazed smile for a moment before they continue on with the sketch.

9:30 - Jimin tries to flirt his way out of of JK’s interrogation, which JK says is for “setting fire to ARMY’s hearts with his smiling eyes.”

10:25 - After a brief interuption by “Captain” Suga, the interrogation starts having flirty vibes again, with JK smirking and making eye contact while Jimin acts bashful and speaks in a whispery voice. 

11:00 - JK holds a fake gun on JM as he starts his “Lie” dance, during which he directs finger hearts towards JK. The camera focuses on JM and, by the time it shows JK again, he’s lowered the gun and put his other hand over his heart. The on-screen text says “Detective Jeon’s heart is attacked.”

12:55 - JM and JK switch roles so JM is the detective. He hits JK over the head with a book. JK has basically no visible reaction, but JM has clearly flustered himself. 

Note: To explain my reasoning for these originally not being here - if you look at the other skits in this ep, they are all accusing each other of doing things to ARMY’s hearts and being weirdly flirty with each other. Like, this police station has some serious sexual harassment issues all around! That said, the vibes are unique with jikook and, upon rewatch, I came to agree with y’all that the above should’ve been included. 19:30 - Alternate version of the sketch where Jimin and JK have a dance battle that ends in both of them being put in the jail cell and told to dance.

BEHIND  0:58 - Jimin flirt-ily calls out "I'm bored; play with me, Detective" (presumably to JK since they're scene partners).  Note: Adults saying they "played" with each other is a common way to describe hanging out in Korean and doesn't necessarily have the sexual connotations it does in English. 

4:08 - Jimin stares at JK as he does squats

Ep 13 "The Spy Who Returned Part 1" (Ep: 4 / KM: 2)

The ones where they play games at an indoor water park

Ep 15 "The Spy Who Returned Part 3" (Ep: 3 / KM: 2)

TW for this ep: 5:14 - during the confessions game, Jin tells Jimin that whenever Jimin asks if he put on weight, Jin wants to say he looks like a pig. Jimin claims to not be upset after, but looks like he's going to cry and seems off for a while. Then, at 10:45, Jin reiterates that Jimin "got fat." Everyone laughs except JK, who widens his eyes and then starts chewing on his finger.  

6:37 - Despite being on the same team as JK, Jimin joins J-Hope's complaints about JK coming to their room uninvited, saying that JK often brushes his teeth in their room. He accuses JK of buying the exact same toothbrush as Jimin’s and complains that they can’t tell them a part. JK says it wasn't him and then there's a weird cut to sometime later when Jimin is sitting back down again...  Just prior to this, Jimin is looking unhappy as Hobi tells a story about JK seeing him naked, but it’s hard to tell if he’s reacting to that or feeling upset about Jin’s weight comments from the previous round. 

16:02 - Jimin defends Jungkook against accusations that he's the spy

It's an otome game where there's this group who keep causing a bunch of murders and you play as a cop named Ichika Hoshino! Some stuff happens and you end up working with a group of pretty men (Yanagi, Sasazuka, Mineo, and Shiraishi) and there's also another guy (Okazaki) who's an SP officer. They're all love interests and all have very unique personalities and I love them all very much qwq I'm almost done with the game already, currently just started chapter 5 of Shiraishi's route and then I just have Yanagi's route ^w^ The game is really good and has made me cry/tear up on multiple occasions <33

(Buck and Eddie arrive at the 118, and are surprised to see what looks like a wedding chapel set-up in the firehouse - chairs split into two groups by an aisle running down the middle, covered in rose petals, and a big wooden wedding arch at the other end with Bobby standing under it, and Christopher beside him)

Buck: What the -

Eddie: - Hell?

(Chim and Hen, both wearing boutonnieres, rush over and pull Eddie down the aisle to stand next to Christopher - who is wearing a suit and grinning)

Mariska Benson’s Story

Captain Mariska "Mar/Mari" Benson heads up the Manhattan Special Victims Unit. Mariska is fluent in several languages, which include English, Italian, Spanish, French, Polish, Italian, Irish Gaelic, Czech, Scottish Gaelic, Hungarian, Latin, Portuguese, Basque, Danish, Chinese, Japanese, Bulgarian,, Slovenian, Dutch, Hebrew, latin, german, Russian, Ukrainian, Moldovan, Greek, Filipino, Belarusian, Turkish, Swedish, Polish, Slavonic Languages(Indo-European, Balto-Slavic, Porto-Slavic, Eastern-Slavic, Southern-Slavic, Western-Slavic, Slovak), Serbo-Croatian, Macedonian, Romanian, Gagauz and Sign Language.

Prior to becoming a cop and working for the NYPD/ At SVU. Mariska severd in the US Navy for 16 years. from 1981-1997, when she retired and came home to the states that December of 1997.  She joined the Navy and enlisted after high school at the age of 17, in May of 1981.  She also worked her ass off in high school and got  a full scholarship to Cornell University , took it and while in College and enlisted in the Navy , fighting a broad and serving her country / protecting the USA from threats, Mariska multi-tasked and simultaneously studied  during her time in the Navy and attained both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the same time, and triple majored in criminal justice, law enforcement and Ballistics & Technical Sciences, with minors in several languages, history, literature and creative writing - poetry. She later graduated from Cornell , while still in the Navy , after only three years studies in May of 1984, a few months after her 20th birthday, while still abroad and fighting in the Navy and serving her country at the same time. 

She is a decorated US Navy Veteran, with multiple Awards and Honors. Mariska exited and retired from the US Navy and military life, in April of 1997 at the age of 33, after serving her country and a Navy- Military career of 16 years, and upon retirement from the Navy was a Vice Admiral. During her time in the US Navy , Mariska was a part of the Navy's elite special forces team , known as SEAL TEAM 6. Upon retiring from the Navy in  late May of 1997. 

Mariska came home and returned to the states, and attended the New York police academy and took their program to become a cop within a few short months, after graduating early from the NYPD academy in July of 1997, a few months after studying to be a cop at the NYPD academy that same year. She  first began her law enforcement career as cop, that July after her graduation not long after independence day 1997. 

In the beginning of her law enforcement career as a cop , with the NYPD, Mariska started out low in the ranks, and was transferred quite a bit during hr first two years with the NYPD, working in serval different department, before she made Detective 2nd grade in the winter of 1998, just a few short months before joining SVU ing March of 1999 and being transferred for the last and final time , while working for the NYPD.

Prior to taking over SVU, Mariska worked as a SVU detective and to this day is still partnered with Det. Elliot Stabler, they've been partners for over 12 years. After Elliot's leave of absence for a year. Mariska partnered primarily with Nick Amaro, before his return to SVU in 2013 after about a year of being away due to having to handle issues with his family and personal affairs. The year after that, in 2013 Elliot was forced to retire from SVU due to hurting Mariska again, as he had done in the past. This time Fin caught him sexually assaulting her in the nap area of the SVU precinct, used by SVU to rest, now and again when they get tired and can't think straight, during precinct lockdowns, while they're working huge complex cases. 

Shortly after he returned, they became partners once again, before Cragen the old SVU captain , her ex boss retired  after the Lewis case in late 2013... he fired Stabler's crazy ass and the NYPD took his shield for good, in the early summer of 2013. Which Stabler hated, never getting his way, though any one who has a brain and common sense, knows you don't always get your way, and or aren't always right all the time, or perfect. 

In late fall of 2013 after the lewis case was wrapped up, and Mariska and all his other living victims were safe. Mariska became a Sergeant and took over the SVU unit from Captain Donald Cragen in late October of 2013. Coincidentally at the same time her co-worker of several years John Munch, also announced his retirement as well from the NYPD in late October of 2013, the same Cragen announced he was retiring from the NYPD. Then after being a Sargent for about 7 months after Cragen's leaving SVU and putting her in charge.

 she took the Lieutenant's exam and aced it, and became the Lieutenant of the SVU Department. She continued to be the head of SVU after she became their Lieutenant. She stayed as a Lieut. As Lieutenant and the head of SVU for some months, Then in late 2019 Mariska was promoted again, this time to Captain of SVU. Mariska does her best to head up and keep her squad a tight knit bunch and working well together, with little to no issues as possible. 

While balancing in time with her son Noah Porter-Benson, comes ahead of her job and love life. She does the best she can, to balance her job, family, friends and dating, Although she is still in love with one particular woman, but she has no idea if she'll ever come to see it or not, so she tries to push through the pain and move on without him as best she can and focus on the positives in her life.

Early Life and The Beginning of her Career with SVU

Mariska and her identical twin sister Olivia were born, Mariska Renée Benson and Olivia Margaret Benson, On January 23, 1964, Nassau County, Long Island, New York. Mariska and her identical identical twin sister Olivia "Liv" Benson, were the products of the rape of their mother Serena Benson in 1963 by a food salesman named Jacob Holmes, who later committed suicide. At the time of the rape, Serena had been working in the cafeteria of Columbia University. 

Mariska's mother, Serena was an alcoholic who tossed aside her one daughter Olivia, Mariska's identical twin sister away and left her daughter Olivia in the adoption/foster care system as a baby, to grow up there. Meanwhile Serena decided to keep and raise her other daughter Liv's twin sister Mariska, as a single mother, and also emotionally, physically, mentally and verbally abused Mariska throughout her childhood, adolescent years growing up. Her mother Serena even went as far, to hide from Mariska, that she had a sister out there, being raised in the system, not just any normal type of sister... but an identical named Olivia.

 Mariska for most of her life, was always suspicious that there was more to her story , of how she was conceived and brought into this world by her mother Serena, then what her mom Serena lead her to believe for all those years, when she was growing up, even after joining the Navy after high school, as she did. Then after her exiting the Navy after a 16 year stint in the service, and Navy life. 

She knew in her gut, that there was more to the story of their family, then what her mom Serena told her, however back in the day, it was much harder to prove or dig up stuff about those in the system, and long lost relatives, plus kinship analysis was stiff a very new DNA test the law enforcement and health care fields had just developed. Mariska though, continued to question her life, and formative years growing up in long island as she did as well as, her mother Serena’s secrets. 

That is until Serena passed away not long after, Mariska joined svu as a 2nd grade detective years ago. Serena died from injuries sustained in a fall when she was drunk, in early 2000, After which it left Mariska still questioning the feeling in her gut, that she had more family out there, she didn’t know about all her life, and she wanted answers. Mariska did want to know if she did have siblings out there, or any cousins, etc. 

So she asked her then boss Captain Don Cragen, and her trusted coworkers during those days, her early ones at SVU as a detective.... to help her get and run a kinship DNA analysis test on her. Which they helped her do an keep hush hush, the kinship DNA test, came back positive and did show results  that she had a sibling out there, not just a sibling, but a sister. However the records of her name were sealed and closed, the only other thing that the test results showed was the sister, also grew up where Mariska did in Long Island, and that she grew up in the system. 

Which left Mariska more curious, and anything to find out, who this sister was, she  had, her name, etc. At the same time the passing of their mother Serena, left Mariska, even more deeply angry, as well as, a bit saddened, due to the fact that she never got closure with her mother Serena before she passed away, never got to tell her crazy mom how she felt, how much she had her hurt, etc. 

While investigating a case called (Payback) in 1999, Mariska and Serena seemed to care about each other a great deal. Serena was worried about Mariska working in the Special Victims Unit. Then also months later in (1999) while investigating a case labeled Wanderlust, Mariska said to her good friend ADA Casey Novak, that her first love was an older woman and that she "couldn't have loved her more". 

Then months later while investigating a case called Taken (2000) Serena dies as the result of a fall down the subway stairs across from a bar. Mariska says Serena was a drunk. Then later that same year also, while investigating an Abuse case in (2000) Mariska becomes involved with a child who was neglected by her parents that way Mariska felt neglected by her mother. 

Then while investigating a case labeled ; Intoxicated in (2005) Mariska tells Casey Novak about an incident when she was 16. An older student of her mother asked her to marry her and when she told Serena that she was leaving, her mother who had been drinking flew into a rage and went after her with a broken bottle.

During her brief visits to Philadelphia and Florida (2007) Mariska finds out about the man who raped her  and her twin sister Olivia’s mother, and others. He knew about his daughters and kept track of them both. He once tried to call Mariska but got Serena instead. Mariska Graduated from Cornell university. She admitted to her SVU teammates in 2007 while they were investigating a case then , they labeled (Stalked).

1. What is the color of your hairbrush? Blue and black.

2. Name a food you never eat. I am SO picky so there’s a lot. A lot is texture-based. I’m not a big fan of foods that mix textures, like things with crusts that have gooey insides, or crunchy things inside creamy things.

3. Are you typically too warm or too cold? Too cold. I have been known to wear hoodies inside my house in the middle of summer because the AC is too cold.

4. What were you doing 45 minutes ago? Getting ready to eat dinner.

5. What’s your favorite candy bar? We have a local company called Sarris that makes such good chocolate. Either plain milk, or caramel.

6. Have you ever been to a professional sports game? A few. Never football, but I have been to Penguins hockey games and Pirates baseball games. Not often though, I’m really not a sports person.

7. What is the last thing you said out loud? “Puppers what are you doing?” because my dog was getting into things.  

8. What is your favourite ice cream? Mint chocolate. You can pry it out of my cold dead hands.

10. Do you like your wallet? I don’t have a wallet anymore. I just cram my cards and a bit of cash into a small purse. Which I do like, because it’s cat shaped.

16. Ever been camping? Once. And never again. I like wi-fi and indoor plumbing too much. Also I got horribly sunburned on a canoe trip from hell, and a raccoon tried to break into the tent on the first night.

17. Do you take vitamins? Yes. Gummy ones.

18. Do you regularly attend a place of worship? No, not since I was a kid.

19. Do you have a tan? Ahaha no. I have two modes: Ghost and Lobster. There is no in between.

41. How many blankets on your bed? I sleep under three (fleece blanket, quilt, comforter) but I have two other fuzzy soft blankets folded up for the cats.

42. Describe your kitchen plates. Fiesta-ware in multi colours.

44. Do you have a favorite alcoholic drink? I can stomach Captain Morgan and Coke but I rarely drink. I’m extra sensitive to most alcohol and all of it tastes like paint thinner to me.

Hi circusshow, hope you're having a good day! So for the Doctor Who ask: 5, 18, 33, 38, 41 and 50. (Obviously this includes classic who as well). Enjoy :)

I’m doing 38 separately because I do nothing if not go above and beyond.

38. If you could switch companions and Doctors who would you pair up?

Ok there are some typical answers to this (Nine and Martha, Eight with Jamie and Zoe, etc) and I decided ‘hey, why not do some extremely unpredictable Doctor/Companion team ups!’ I tried to mix up TARDIS teams completely, and base this on characterisations and dynamics so I’ve written a justification for each set. For each Doctor. “Above and Beyond”.

(My genuine answers are Martha and any of the non arrogant plonks but Thirteen is the Doctor who I’d say needs her, Jamie and 12 [ayyyyy Scottish veterans], Wilf and 12, everyone and 12, and also Team Amnesia)

Onto the nonsense that I took far too seriously!

First Doctor: Donna NobleSo the thing about One is that you want a companion who will ground him. Teach him how to be a decent person. Show him compassion but also take no guff. There is probably no one who fits that description better than Donna. Donna would also have been more in tune with the trickster side of his personality, I think. And she’s Wilf’s granddaughter, she is used to eccentric old men.

Second Doctor: Martha Jones and Ace McshaneSo with the Second Doctor you need the right mix of ‘Joins in the nonsense’ and ‘Keeps everyone from getting killed’. First there is Martha. She is capable, sensible, and basically the person in your friend group who knows when to get everyone to stop mucking around and do your work. But she also loves mischief makers and is willing to get up to mild mischief herself (see the great scene with Chantho). Basically, she would keep Two from being distracted by his own eccentricities. And then there is Ace. Two does well with companions he can teach and take care of, but also companions who have some... destructive tendencies. He and Ace would be the world’s most adorable gremlins.Basically, imagine this TARDIS team as Two and Ace getting into trouble and Martha getting them out of it.

Third Doctor: Yasmin Khan and Jack HarknessUnderutilized in her series as it may be, it is important to remember that Yaz is training to be a police officer. And is somehow good enough that her supervisor thinks she is already working for interpol or some other menacing government agency. That is a character who would fit in well with UNIT. But she is also more than willing to adjust her world view based on what new information flies her way, unlike UNIT’s occasional arbitrary skepticism. Yaz would be the sensible cop to Three’s eccentric male hero. The Jo to Three’s Henry, as it were.Jack has all the guise of a military man, and would again fit in well with the military nature of Three’s era. But Jack is also a con man. Three would hate that. And Jack is another immortal. Three (who loves claiming he’s superior because he’s older) would haaaaaaaate that. The bickering would be constant. It would be glorious. And these two would get. The job. Done.This team is essentially a spy, a cop, and a con man. I’m pretty sure USA made that into a tv show.

Fourth Doctor: River SongFour and Five are the Doctor’s I know the least, so this was really hard. But think about it: River is the Doctor’s equal, like Romana. She is also in the weird dichotomy of being more driven by her emotions than the Doctor, but able to keep a level head when his emotions get the best of him. River would have killed the daleks herself, is what I’m saying. Because she has the unpredictable and violent streak of Leela. Four always comes off to me as being the brooding anti-hero of the group, the one who needs someone to keep him grounded. And if that someone isn’t equal to him, he will fly away.

Fifth Doctor: Zoe Heriot and Amy PondFive was really hard because I link him entirely with his companions. First let’s discuss Zoe. I put Zoe here because, let’s be honest, she has quite a few similarities with Adric. She’s a bit of a know it all, but unlike Adric the text actually shows her to know it all. And unlike Adric the entire reason she’s traveling is because she wants to learn how to have emotions and have a life outside of knowledge. She wants the experience.Amy, on the other hand, doesn’t claim to have a lot of knowledge. She had a troubled life, didn’t seem to go past high school, and unlike the scientific rationale of most companions she completely embraces the idea of the Doctor being a story. Sort of like Tegan, and Peri. Zoe for the science, Amy to keep the magic alive.

Sixth Doctor: Grace HollowayThe character trait that always gets thrown around with Six is ‘arrogant’. And yeah. Yeah. So what he really needs is a companion who is of equal intelligence and status. Grace isn’t a Time Lord, but she is a cardiologist (head of her department, I think) and very much knows she is in charge. She would force the Doctor to look at her as an equal, which would go a long way in cutting his ego down to a manageable size. Plus she would probably force him into an outfit that at the very least matched.But I have to point out Martha could probably fit in the same vein, although she demonstrated less readiness to call the Doctor out. And of course there are Jamie and Zoe, but they’re basically companions of his anyway.

Seventh Doctor: LeelahThe same teacher-student vibes as Seven and Ace, but I imagine Leelah would be significantly less forgiving of the Doctor manipulating her.

Eighth Doctor: Rory Williams and Sarah Jane SmithSeparating Eight from Anji and Fitz physically hurt me. For starters, Rory would be able to keep Eight from getting hurt quite so badly. Or at least can help him recover when he does. But Rory also has the willingness to call the Doctor out. Which, let’s be clear, Eight definitely needs. But Eight also needs someone who will stay by his side.Sarah Jane has the inquisitive element, but also can be quite pragmatic. She would be able to see what needs to be done. And Rory can help her call the Doctor out when he goes beyond that.These two would also do well with Eight’s era of ‘screw it nothing makes sense let’s be as chaotic as possible’.

Ninth Doctor: Jamie Mccrimmon and Susan ForemanNow here’s the team I stand by the most. Nine in his post war state is probably the Doctor where the most thought needs to go into his companions. So here we go.Jamie is also coming out of war, civil war, war that has forced him against his family for the sake of doing what he believed to be right. And Jamie lost. Jamie is probably the one character who would be able to understand Nine on a guttural level, because Jamie has been through a similar thing. And can you imagine the anguish Nine would go through, revealing that he was the one who killed his people? And the relief when Jamie not only doesn’t turn from him but actively empathizes? Because Jamie can, not on the same level but on a level. Jamie knows survivor’s guilt. Jamie knows what it’s like being on the side that killed your family. And Jamie knows what it’s like having everyone die while you survive. The love that would form there. Can you imagine? Nine and Jamie would be amazing.And Susan. It doesn’t have to be how Susan is in the show. Maybe she is just some random Gallifreyan he saved. Maybe the guilt would be less, if there was one more time lord. Maybe it would be more, looking at this girl every day and knowing he murdered her family, her friends. And she would still look at him as a father figure, as someone to love and admire, and he would hate that. He would snap and tell her just how horrible he really is and she wouldn’t care because she was in the war, she knows what they all had to do. And it would give him someone to care for, to live for. In that context, can you imagine that speech? That scene where he lets her go, lets her live her own life away from him? It would be beautiful.

Tenth Doctor: Bill PottsFirst thing’s first-- Ten does terribly around people who are in love with him. Bill taking one look at him and being pffft nah mate would immediately put her in his good books. And Bill is intelligent, and compassionate, and would stop him from not just being cruel but from being bratty. Ten and Bill would go places. And she would gently discuss what to do when your abusive ex takes over the planet.

Eleventh Doctor: Ian and BarbaraEleven can either be nasty or childish. Who better to put him with than the teachers who taught One how to be decent in the first place. They would know when to make him act like an adult, and they would know when to make him stop. They wouldn’t indulge him, like River and Amy, or even humour him, like Rory. They would teach him how to be kind again. How to be human (ish) again. They would give him a refresher of what he learned when he first started traveling with humans.

Twelfth Doctor: Romana and Wilfred MottRomana is, intellectually, an equal. In Time Lord society she is even above him. She and Twelve would be intoxicated by their combined brilliance. But she is younger than the Doctor. She is still learning.Enter Wilf. Wilf may just be a regular human, but his wisdom and maturity is light years beyond the Doctor’s. He is the Doctor’s honorary dad. So he would be there to guide Twelve and Romana, keep them from being the feedback loop that created the Clara situation. And Wilf would be able to have genuine discussions with the Doctor about what the Doctor does and the worth that that has. 

Thirteenth Doctor: Fitz Kreiner, Charley Pollard, and Mickey SmithFirst, Fitz. (I mean this assumes that Thirteen has emotional intelligence because screw canon). Fitz is snarky, and edgy, and would be the right balance against Thirteen’s sunshine and rainbows. But he is also loyal, and loving and would delight in every bit of chaos she got wrapped up in.Charley and Thirteen would get on like a house on fire. They have that same adventurous spirit, that same joy in seeing the universe, and that same lack of patience with irritating men. And Mickey would keep it all from getting out of hand. Mickey is quite a calming presence, even when people ignore him. He would be able to keep them focused, and relaxed. Also he and Thirteen would talk shop about mechanics all the time and it would be adorable.Bonus: Martha. Do you think Martha ‘I’m not moving until you open up’ would let Thirteen be so secretive? Heck no.

He was supposed to be better. That’s what he had always been told, the voices in the back of his mind whispering his failures over and over. Dropped on the steps of a fire department, he was shuffled from home to home until he found someone who wanted to deal with him. Deal with his ‘outbursts’, deal with his rage. His parents hadn’t loved him, and he didn’t expect that these people would either. 

But they did, in their own way. High expectations, he was constantly toeing the line. Breaking curfew, sneaking cigarettes. His grades were average, falling somewhere between good and bad because he couldn’t be bothered to care. His mother tried to treat him gently, wrapping him in her arms and holding him in early morning hours when he couldn’t sleep. It helped, sometimes, but the urge to please her would fall by the wayside as his demons took over again. His father handled it differently - a choice to enroll him in different sports classes, to find something he was good at where he could channel his energy. 

It ended up being boxing; with the fight in his fingers, he felt more in control, he felt better. He felt like he could beat the aggressions out of him, fight the demons into submission. His grades improved only slightly - just enough to get by, but he committed himself to fighting in a way that gave him some of his life back. 

He floated through high school and sneered at the thought of college, but his father steered him in a different direction. Pushed him through an associates at the nearest college and introduced him to a cop he knew in the NYPD. Suddenly, everything fit. It clicked, and as he started as a rookie on the force he found that the exhilaration of the job made him feel grounded. Human. He threw himself into his work with a single-minded passion that slowly pulled him through the ranks.

His life started to change all at once. He met a girl, Abby, a brunette who saw through his usual bullshit and cut him to the core with grey eyes and sharp words. She supported him through long nights and double shifts and pushed him until he found himself promoted to the Joint Terrorism Task force. His parents were thrilled, Abby was glowing, and she moved in with him the next weekend. 

He didn’t love her - he didn’t know if he was capable of love, but he was capable of treating her well, of not walking out with people who weren’t her. He was working an undercover case throughout the majority of their relationship. She didn’t begrudge the secrets or the long nights spent with little to no communication. She understood the weight of what he did and she was happy to help as much as she could.

It was her willingness to help that had her in the same room as Rhett on the night of the big bust. He had fought tooth and nail against it but his superiors has assured him that it would be fine, that she would be protected and that it would all go off without a hitch.

It was with shaking hands pressed to a gunshot wound to her chest that she fell into his arms, her blood covering him as the life faded from her eyes. He promised her vengeance before she was ripped from his arms, and he meant it wholeheartedly. The next three years were spent tracking down every other member of the gang that he could get his hands on, ensuring that they didn’t see the outside of a prison cell ever again.

He gained a reputation for being ruthless. His repertoire of closed cases was stacking up higher than he was tall, and there wasn’t a gang member or drug runner that didn’t know his name and fear when he would come for them next. His ruthlessness and brutality drew the attention of the members of nocte ac die, and they persuaded him to pull the fighter out of him and become the main event of their underground fighting ring. 

Losing Abby made him reckless, and he agreed with blood-stained lips. The fighting was the only thing that kept him sane, even as he continued to move through the ranks at the police force. He quickly became the number one contender, the man to be beat, the only person who had not lost a fight within the confines of the club.

Pulled from the JTTF after years that he had spent tracking down anyone even remotely connected to Abby’s case, he found himself with the position of Lieutenant. Hands in everything but removed from it all, his superiors felt it was the best place for him to stay until the wound closed and disappeared, even though most knew that it never would. 

He accepted the position with a flat expression that he only wore because of his success at the club keeping him sane. The fighting keeps him level-headed as he continues what work he can to remove the city of the same vile criminals who had taken from him the best thing that had ever happened.

o   His first sentence at 15 months was “recycle that!”

o   Loves blue because of recycle bins

o   Literally wears nothing but blue

o   Will accept things that are less than 100% blue as long as its more than 50% blue

o   Also likes things with pink on them

o   Thinks Tigger is the coolest person ever

o   Doesn’t understand all of Tigger’s books but reads them anyway

o   Except the non-children’s ones of course

o   Reads everything he can get his hands on

o   Don’t let him get his hands on anything inappropriate for a 5 year old

o   Asks a lot of questions

o   Everyone adores him

o   His mama is his favourite person on the planet but also Mr Tigger is so cool

o   He likes Mr Gopher too, he thinks Mr Gopher is great because of “how happy Mama is when he’s around”

·       Eeyore

o   23 years old

o   Has depression

o   Trans boy

o   Just really wants friends

o   Wants to help the planet

o   Is a massive pessimist that thinks the world is doomed

o   Very smart boy

o   Talks about CO2 emissions and carbon taxes

o   A university student studying some kinda chemical engineering

o   Very quiet

o   Bit of a crush on piglet tbh

o   Has a big love for superheroes without powers because he loves the idea of things being solvable through hard work mixed with passion and technology

o   Except he doesn’t believe it because his depression makes him super pessimistic

o   Also a big tech nerd

·       Gopher

o   45 years old

o   Landlord of their meeting place

o   Grumpy ass old man

o   Sometimes people are grumpy right back to him and he’s ok with that

o   Actually a soft spot for these weird hippies and joins them sometimes but says its because he wants to make sure they’re not damaging the place (they know that’s a big fat lie but won’t say anything)

o   Will fight anyone who mocks them

o   Has actually fought someone who mocked them

o   Has not told them about said fight

o   Especially adores Roo

o   Thinks Kanga is a bit of an odd woman but also thinks she’s very pretty

o   Repressed bisexual

o   He thinks nobody knows he’s bi but eventually when he kinda mentions it he realizes everyone knows

o   Specifically, Piglet and Kanga are super supportive

o   He definitely actually has a crush on Kanga, who knitted him a bisexual flag scarf once

o   He wears it all the time but will vehemently deny that it’s the same scarf when called on it

o   Big brawny weirdo

o   Was a football player in college and can definitely bench-press everyone

o   Works construction now, which is why he’s still in good shape

o   Actually a brilliant man, can architect and calculate like nobody’s business

o   Will help Piglet with his mathematics homework in exchange for Piglet teaching him more things about the LGBT+ community

o   After a while he realizes that perhaps genderfluid fits him well but Piglet is sworn to secrecy

o   Has a daughter who is institutionalized for her mental health issues that grew beyond his care

o   Piglet reminds him of his daughter and he’s very protective

o   That’s why he legit fought that asshole who mocked the “little F****t hippies”

o   He was almost arrested for assault on that one actually

o   The cop was a buddy of his and 100% believed the “defense of those who can’t defend themselves” explanation that Gopher had

o   Got off with a warning and fined for “disturbing the peace” or some mundane BS

·       Piglet

o   21 years old

o   Gay and demiboy

o   Anxiety disorders through the roof

o   OCD

o   Recycling is a compulsion

o   Reducing energy consumption too

o   He checks his lights all the time

o   He walks or bikes everywhere

o   He says it’s to reduce CO2 emissions

o   He’s just scared of vehicles

o   Has some kinda PTSD but nobody knows the source

o   He got into a massive car accident when he was little

o   Because his father was angry and speeding

o   His mother died in the accident

o   But nobody knows this!  Someday he will tell them tho

o   Today is not that day

o   Tomorrow is not that day either

o   But someday

o   Crush on Eeyore

o   Also a university student

o   Studying mathematics because it makes sense to him

o   Gopher reminds him of his grumpy old gay uncle who died when he was in high school

o   Feels like he can actually not double-check or cross-reference anything that Gopher teaches him because he trusts him a lot

o   Still will sometimes check everything if he’s having a bad day

o   Gopher doesn’t mind, he understands that Piglet has a lot of anxiety issues

o   Has an exception in his uni file to be able to take twice as long on his exams and tests and get an extra few days for assignments because he checks every single answer 3 times

o   His OCD number is 3, everything is 3, he turns his lights on and off 3 times, etc

Better late than never! I meant to post these lists a week ago at the latest but here we are. Anyways, I still like to dig through the music I loved each year and remind myself of all the songs that may get left behind from the earlier months. And of course I also love to share with all of you what I've been listening to, since I post on tumblr less and less these days.
