Analysing The Telivision Debates.
7th Jan 2024
By- G Ankita Naidu
Analysing 5Indian Television Debates
Analysing any content gives you the freedom to explore and learn new things and it also gives you the opportunity to experience the work and present the actual facts.
The below mentioned are the 5 Indian Telivision Debates which I’ve analysed on my understanding .
1) Ram Mandir crucial for 21st century, Great India , Justifying ongoing Constructions.
This is the Television Debate that I’ve watched and based on my understanding I came to the conclusion that Ethics in Media plays a pivotal role where there is mass of people who is gonna believe and spread the information they have got from the Media houses from one person to another . In this particular debate where the topic is the Ram Mandir which is to be open on 22nd of January 2024 . As after many controversies, and many hurdles on the way this thing took it’s place . So, the people who are the part of this debate are presenting their own opinion and I feel the FAIRNESS, IMPARTIALITY and OBJECTIVITY is there as they are presenting the facts and logical thinking on the concept which has accountability and credibility in it ,which shows that they are following the road of Ethics is Media . Because of these things the audience will be able to trust the context being presented. Sudhanshu Trivedi who is the member who is the member of Rajya Sabha is th part of this debate and he had put many facts and logics which will make people think and belive with all their trust . The people who are there in the debate are coming up with the proofs that why Ram Mandir should be built in that place as it is the RAM JANMA BHUMI (God Ram’s Birth Place) and they came up with the( ASI) which is the Archeological servey of India which did many excavations at the Site where they got the instances through which we can surely say with 100% proofs that Ram Mandir should be built over there. The people in the debate are also connecting with the emotions of the audience so that the they could connect in a better way. Following the ethics with the objectives they are also giving the information that could be a learning that how the son (Ram) left the whole Kingdom just because his father asked him to go to the exile for 14y and despite staying in the kingdom and enjoying being the king he choose to follow the order of his father

2) The Big Fight – Will Science be able to define God .
This is the second Debate that I’ve watched and The Journalist in this Debate is Vikram Chandra who is the former CEO of NDTV where he use to lead a show called The Big Fight and in this specific debate it’s about the concept where it’s that Will Science be able to define God ? There were people who were the part of this debate and like SADHGURU (Founder of the ISHA FOUNDATION) .On the very particular concept everyone has presented their own opinion and their own understanding. Following the ethics of Media I feel that being concerned about their own thinking the consequences which they presented are valid in their own context and also for the people who trust them . There were instances where they talked about how science and God both are for people. Gave an example by saying that nowadays who the developed version of an Iphone is the only science for people and they also forget that where is this coming from . By giving some instances which were both positive and negative they came up with the Fairness of the concept by analysing both the sides . Which plays a pivotal role as it gives the actual information and not the filtered one . Following and being developed with science absolutely appreciateable but also giving respect to the tradition we have is equally important in my vision.
Ethical practices help prevent Missformation , and it also helps in safe guarding democratic process. One should always follow the Ethical Concerns before sharing any news or any information to any one
(link of the video -https://youtu.be/sJDYgQBezdc?si=wrQjFHm0W7S3T5ie)
3)The third Debate which I watched is from a very famous telivision show Called – HALLA BOL which is lead by one of the most famous Indian Journalist ANJANA OM KASHYAP from AAJ TAK
So the concept in this particular debate is about how one Political leader uses odd words in the assembly (an official platform) and it is a fact that the particular person is not following the media Ethics which is absolutely not appreciateable and the people who are listening to it , it is not making a good impression and also it is showing that how one person being in a High profession can’t follow the ethics which should be followed. Following the ethics in debate is very important as it is about sharing the information and the content to a audience and . In this debate all the people have agreed to the fact that how one shouldn’t use such words in such a platform . The media House are on the urge to use the BEEP SOUND to cover the words which are said by the person because such things are not to be said in public . There are some manners and ethics to be followed which shows how accountable you are in your profession and in what way you follow the ethics of media. FAIRNESS presented by the journalist in the particular Debate was completely there as she came up with the actual thing. Talking about IMPARTIALITY I would say the journalist was confident enough and she didn’t see who the person is she just saw the facts and whatever is done which shows that how she is walking in the way of IMPARTIALITY. CONCLUSION – I would say that being Impartial and and confident about the information that you are sharing is very important as whenever you are going to present a particular concept to someone they are going to trust you.
(link of the video – https://youtu.be/8k6-TOPn2GM?si=Wsb46Dcg6LWdgvIB)
4)Big Debate – New India – More divided or United. In my vision this is the best Debate that I’ve watched where in the concept of Ethics I feel that it is something which properly followed and it’s some which should be there always. When we talk about the information they gave to the audience it was full of proofs , full of logic so that one can built trust and believe on it . Fairness era fair enough where people can blindly believe with just listening to what they are speaking about . As they were very impartial and very confident about the particular concept . At the very first they came up with an introduction where they introduced about what they are gonna talk about do that it will be a fact that they are trying to connect with the audience in nice way . Sharing some instances gave them the opportunity to connect with the audience with there emotions and gain the trust of the audience in a proper way . Which absolutely shows that the context which they are discussing about is a known content to the people who are speaking. And for instance if there is something that they spoke by mistake, at the very moment using the words like ‘Sorry’ shows that they are concerned about what they are speaking and they don’t want the wrong thing to reach out .
(https://youtu.be/yAbX0Vtbqj8?si=zlYZAHIVnWaMLRfa -link of the video)
5) The fourth Debate that I’ve watched is about the topic Called – Gender Equality. It is from a YouTube channel which is named as ARTH A CULTURE FEST . So different people spoke about their opinion and following the Media ethics they came up with the context and facts that why Gender Equality is important specialy when it comes to the temples when there’s a question raised . Gender equality is not only about the GENDER it’s also about the rights and opportunities one should attain . The people in the debate were fair enough with their facts about the gender equality content which gave me the opportunity to think about the particular content and it will do the same to others too . Which means Media is being effective on audience in a proper way . Following the ethics and then presenting a content is not an easy job but to be valuable, fair enough one should follow such things so that th ACTUAL, CORRECT and the EXACT Information is shared to the audience so that there’s no wrong information spread. It is also the responsibility of the person who is talking to cross check the information for being sure.

Do Dalit Lives Matter?
“Your presence irritates me,” said the deputy Registrar sitting in an air conditioned room.
India has a population of 1.3 billion. 180 million Dalits are denied human rights because of the disgraceful practice known as caste discrimination. Dalit students constantly under the threat of rustication, expulsion, defamation and discontinuation and Vemula wasn’t an exception.
The past decade saw the planned institutional murder of eight students in the Hyderabad University. In the span of four years, from 2008-2011, eighteen Dalit students ended their lives under the constant pressure upon their identity.
AIIMS, famous for producing the best doctors of the country has vile abuses written on the walls and doors of the hostel rooms where Dalit students reside. The teachers there, are partial while helping students and the ones with oppressed origins are always left out. More than 90% of the students face routine harassment at practicals or viva exams. People coming through quota are shamed, mocked for having deficiencies in education, feeble command over English, because most of them are first generation learners. Most prominent institutions lack basic structures like SC/ST cell and student support programmes and even if they do, the structures are dysfunctional. The segregation however starts as early as the school days with coloured wrist bands in classroom, forcing students coming from the oppressed communities clean toilets and upper caste children routinely boycotting food cooked by Dalits.
Dalit students forced to shift to certain hostels following harassment, abuse, violence by upper caste students, social isolation in dining rooms, sports fields, cultural events are some of the examples of informal segregation in AIIMS. 84% of students recall incidents of examiners asking about their caste, says the Thorat Committee. Teachers make students invisible by not giving enough time, discouraging in some way or the other, not allowing the student to work in labs. Students from marginalized groups are often troubled by the lack of clarity, contradictions in examinations and administrative procedures, rules that do not take account of their miseries and ofcourse the dominant castes’ favourite way with them, like ‘I am busy now’ ‘Go away,’ ‘Come tomorrow,’ etc.
The institutional murder of Rohith Vemula, was a steady process recorded by the isolation of the authorities, turning a deaf ear to his pleas, stopping his monthly stipend of twenty five thousand rupees for raising voice against the unfair segregation and suspension in September along with four others. The young scholar had also appealed to the university to allow him to die in December but the authorities maintained the ‘protocols’ of staying silent to this.
Muthukrishnan, the twenty seven year old student took away his own life. His last Facebook update was, ‘There is no equality in M.Phil./PhD admissions, there is no equality in viva-voce, there is only denial of equality….’
Senthil Kumar, a Dalit PhD student from the school of Physics consumed poison in 2008.
Madari Venkatesh, a doctoral student at Advanced Centre of Research in High Energy Materials, killed himself in 2013 for nobody from the from the School of Chemistry cared enough to supervise his research even after 2.5 years in the University.
September 4th 2014, Ankit Ambhore from IIT Bombay jumped from his hostel building. A month before, he and his parents were reportedly told by his HOD and Head of the institute’s Academic Rehabilitation Programme that Ankit, who was struggling academically would do well to drop out.
May 22 2019, Payal Selim Tadvi committed suicide facing harassment by her three seniors in Topiwala National Medical College.
In June 2015, IIT Roorkee expelled seventy three first year students from its B.Tech, IMT and M.Sc. courses- a huge chunk of them from the SC/ST communities. One student was asked by a teacher, “Why do people like you even come to IITs?”
Admissions for M.Phil. and PhD by UGC in May 2016, reduced completely on oral terms, was the move that Muthukrishnan wrote against in his Facebook post. His parting words quoting Ambedkar were, ‘When equality is denied, everything is denied.’
Here’s the list of Dalit student’s though the actual number is much more high than this.
• M. Shrikant, final year, B.Tech, IIT Bombay, 1st Jan 07
• Ajay S. Chandra, integrated PhD, Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc), Bangalore – 26 Aug, 07
• Jaspreet Singh, final year MBBS, Government Medical College, Chandigarh, 27 Jan 08.
• Senthil Kumar, PHD, School of Physics, University of Hyderabad – 23 Feb 08
• Prashant Kureel, first year, B.Tech, IIT Kanpur, 19 April, 08
• G. Suman, final year, M.Tech, IIT Kanpur, 2nd Jan, 09
• Ankita Veghda, first year, BSc Nursing, Singhi Institute of Nursing, Ahmedabad, 20 April, 09
• D Syam Kumar, first year B.Tech, Sarojini Institute of Engineering and Technology, Vijayawada, 13 Aug, 09
• S. Amravathi, national level young woman boxer, Centre of Excellence, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad, 4th Nov, 09
• Bandi Anusha, B.Com final year, Villa Mary College, Hyderabad, 5th Nov, 09
• Pushpanjali Poorty, first year, MBA, Visvesvaraiah Technological University, Bangalore, 30th Jan, 10
• Sushil Kumar Chaudhary, final year MBBS, Chattrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University (formerly KGMC), Lucknow, 31 Jan, 10.
• Balmukund Bharti, final year MBBS, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, 3rd March, 10
• JK Ramesh, second year, BSc, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, 1st July, 10
• Madhuri Sale, final year B.Tech, IIT Kanpur, 17th November, 10
• G. Varalakshmi, B.Tech first year, Vignan Engineering College, Hyderabad, 30 Jan, 2011
• Manish Kumar, IIIrd Year B.Tech, IIT Roorkee, 13 Feb, 11
• Linesh Mohan Gawle, PhD, National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi, 16 April, 11
Do Dalit lives not matter? Where does the sympathy go when Dalits suicide? Where does the façade of All Lives Matter go? Why aren’t paragraphs demonising reservation not address inhumanity the social segregation?
If all lives matter, why isn’t it education for all? Where are the equal opportunities dear?
