Honestly I love gang of youths songs because they're all always "sad dead man convinces his boyfriend not to jump off a roof" "struggling with my faith" "is there any point to loving" and the rest of them are just *three songs just being violin transitions to other, more dramatic songs with the same base melody* and every song is either instrumental or has extremely eloquent lyrics and I just love goddamn Gang of Youths songs.

#i got zukos age wayyy off cus i didnt know what year this even took place in but apparently it was 84 ag #so zuko was like. Way younger than this lol #at the time of drawing this i wasnt sure if ozai saving zuko from drowning was even a canon fact or if what i read was just a headcanon #so i just took the idea and ran off with it. a post about fic updates! so the fics im currently juggling are dog teeth, tams, and of course, taob. my original plan was to start posting the second installment of the dog teeth series by sometime in april, bc it's the fic im most into atm and i already have the first chapter done, i just want to bank another one or two because once i start posting it i want to KEEP posting it with regular updates, hopefully every 2 weeks like with kaiein. HOWEVER this will put my atla fics on a back burner. april is a good writing time for me (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE) bc i have the entire month off from uni to prep for may exam season, and i always want to write when im procrastinating my degree. which is. it's own thing im sure i'll graduate it's fine i'm fine. so if i focus on dog teeth, neither tams nor taob will get focus until like. june. which is par for the course with taob but im NOT happy about doing with tams.

SO my thought process was i can either be normal about this and just accept it's literally my final year at uni and im trying to graduate and it doesn't matter if updates are slow on ANY fics, or i can do my usual and implement an insane deadline that i somehow always make by the skin of my teeth. can you guess what i went with?

and thus i present unto the crowd my tentative plan: have the next taob chapter done by middle of april (im aware this is quite hand-wavey but it gives me a month to work with, so in my head this means anything between april 10th-20th), have the next tams chapter done by the end of april, and dog teeth can follow.

#i know a lot of you are gonna swarm and tell me not to push myself/rush and i love and appreciate the fuck out of you #i PROMISE if it gets too much i will call it quits like im not about to jeopardise my final exam season for this lmao #but ultimately i do work better when i give myself these insane writing challenges and it gives me something fun to do #while im drowning in econ assignments #as for dog teeth being moved to the back burner despite it being my current passion project #im not actually too bothered by this bc i will still be working on it as i work on my atla fics #and it'll be good as a breather when those get up my arse PLUS has the added benefit of the second part of dog teeth #not actually being posted yet so technically no one's 'waiting' for anything. like kaiein exists perfectly fine as a standalone #whereas if i post ch1 of part 2 in april i then have to KEEP POSTING or it'll bug me #and then i'll have THREE updating fics to juggle #does any of this make sense. hello. tapping the security camera in my padded room is anyone there #WHATEVER. Postwar: any particularly amusing situation where Katara becomes even more indignant than usual

okay i know it’s cartoon physics and the cartoon violence is very funny and it’s an iconic scene from an iconic episode and "a girl has her ways" is one of the funniest lines katara ever says, but sometimes i do think about katara somehow running into those two boys she froze to a wall in gaoling for the crime of being kind of rude to aang. when they approach her, based on countless past experiences, she’s expecting them to ask her for either help with a problem or an autograph, but instead they’re like “you’re that crazy girl who froze us to a wall!!! you know we had to wait all day for the ice to thaw, only for us to fall flat on our faces from a considerable height, unable to move or to protect our faces from getting damaged because our limbs were completely frozen?? we got frostbite, pneumonia, concussions, and permanent brain damage from you!! we shattered our teeth and some of our fingers nearly fell off!! you activated chronic autoimmune conditions and shortened both our lifespans considerably!! what do you have to say for yourself after causing us unimaginable pain and ruining both our lives??” and katara just scoffs and goes “well! you deserved it for saying ‘nunya business’ to aang.” and they’re like “okay, but did we???? did we really????” and she’s like “uhhhh….. i was being a #girlboss???” and eventually she offers them free healing sessions and financial compensation but she really digs her heels in at first, claiming that she was just having a hot girl summer and that she shouldn’t be held accountable for her actions as a fourteen year old and that she can’t be a bad person because she’s ontologically Good!!!! and when they’re like “are you sure you’re not pure evil??” it triggers a crisis of identity that lasts a full month. but eventually she just forgets about it and goes back to being the Goodest person who ever lived.

I honestly love whump involving drowning.

Maybe it’s just by accident. Whumpee was swimming too deep and got their arm or leg trapped in some rocks, and they have to choose between staying still as possible and saving oxygen or struggling to free themselves but losing air. Maybe their boat got wrecked in a storm and they’re trying to fight against the turbulent sea to reach the surface again, they break the surface and get one good gulp of air before they’re back under.

Or maybe there’s someone else involved. Whumpee might have their head held into water by someone else, even if it’s just in a bathtub, where struggling gets them shoved farther in. Or the classic “knock them out, tie a rock to them, and chuck them in the ocean” move.

Either way, I love it. The pure panic when their lungs and chest start burning, lightheaded mess and fading vision as they start needing air, frantic breaths when they finally surface. Perfect trope
