Batman Fear State Alpha [he's barely in this, but if you want some context]

Catwoman (2018) #37-38 [I have a fun time with these appearances, but you don't need to read them unless you like the Wight Witch story-line]

Batman Urban Legends #11-13 [he shows up briefly in the Wight Witch 'Stigma' story-line]

Batman Fear State Omega [he's barely in this, but he has such funny lines]

Batman: The Knight (2022) #1-10 [technically he doesn't show up until issue 4, but just read the whole thing. Also this is the most up to date cannon of the backstory, even if I like it less :/]

I hope Damian grows up to reflect upon all who've raised him and comes into himself and his own unique morality. Perhaps less strict about killing than Bruce or Cass. Less likely to destroy himself from the inside out were he to kill like Dick. Yet still he gives far more value to life than anyone in the league. Not one to perform executions or revenge like Jason. Somewhere closer to Alfred. Willing to kill but only if truly necessary. A sort of last resort or absolute option.

James Gordon Sr., GCPD Commissioner and Agent of Batman Incorporated

Trained in the USMC during WW3 and later serving in the Midway City PD, Gordon had an incredibly colorful career, often at odds with his own department and constantly having to rely on the Batman and his network of vigilante associates--Gordon's own daughter Barbara among them--to reliably combat the multitudes of threats to Gotham, especially in the years after the Bane attacks and the No Man's Land era.

Eventually, Gordon Sr. was pushed out of police work permanently (his son, Jim Jr. would briefly succeed him under a special Waller administration mandate, despite the younger Gordon's well documented history of violence). After some time as a private investigator, Jim was invited into the ranks of Batman Incorporated, with a bespoke bat-suit provided by the Oracle.
