Caleb Widowgast was not in full control when he killed his parents.
That or he never actually did it.
ALSO he was ruidus born. He has to have been, to be be that important to that many people of power.

matt ruling that the technical damage from the explosion was irrelevant due to the power and weight of fcg’s sacrifice is what really got me. even if sam rolled the max possible number on the dice, it wouldn’t have even brought otohan to below where she was before she took the health potion. mechanically speaking, she should have survived that blast by a LOT of hit points. but this was a player willingly killing their own character, beyond reviving and even potentially beyond resurrection, to give the rest of the party any advantage they could, and he rewarded that with the death of an antagonist that has haunted this campaign from the very beginning. unreal fucking plays by both matt and sam tonight.

I know there’s been a few posts on it already, but godsdamn Travis was clutch in last night’s game
Not Chetney. Chetney didn’t do shit. (jk)
But Travis Willingham. the player. the CEO. the fan.
He got his shit absolutely ganked in round 1. Fully dead. Before he got a turn. I’ve seen players rage quit after that. Hell, i’ve been a player that rage quit after that.
And he hung around, making jokes and talking strategy until he was like “ooh, a burger” and got his noms on until he was brought back up
When a TPK looked imminent, he told Matt it was okay. He knew they could move on, even from that. He was a calm and comforting presence at the table.
when Sam pulled the hail mary, he was the only one not yelling, crying, or both. He, in the moment, let his appreciation for the big move and the killer story beat shine through.
Travis did a hellova job last night, and it was easy to see why he captains the ship, and he’s someone i strive to be like as a player, a gm, and a friend

I have a bit of a strange question for all the Critters out there.
Which Campaign's Table is your favorite?
When you look back at each Campaign, how does the environment make you feel? What draws you to this specific Table more than the others? I started thinking about this randomly today, and was curious.
I'll give my opinions on each one.
CAMPAIGN 1
From a living room, to a full-fledged set, the Vox Machina Table is every DM/PC's dream. It's the one that still feels like an actual D&D game, despite the setbacks(audio was especially rough to get through).
But what the VM Table lacks in technical wizardry, it makes up for it in the comradery everyone has for each other. Sure, there were some problems(audio like I said, A LOT of in-game planning that went nowhere which understandably frustrated Travis, and the less said about Orion, the better), but the gang had fun! And started something big! That's what's most important.
CAMPAIGN 2
I may be bias because I started with The Mighty Nein before VM, but personally, this Table is my favorite.
It's bright, it's cheerful, everyone feels close and natural where they are, and I enjoy the School Picture Day-esque background throughout lol
There's a reason I always go back and rewatch M9, though, and it's because of the performances and characters. Everyone brings such a unique flair to the Table, and in my opinion, it hasn't been beaten. Even during the COVID run, they took the ball and ran with it, creating a team of misfits that I hold near-and-dear to my heart.
That, and Sam's ads haven't been beaten, either lol
CAMPAIGN 3
I know I may get shit for this, but I don't particularly care for the Bell's Hell's Table. I recently wrote a post saying how can't seem to get into Campaign 3, and I think I have a small, albeit strange, reason.
The lighting.
And I don't mean all the cool stuff Matt does with it like in Imogen's dreams, or when he makes it rain. I'm talking about the base lighting.
I remember being so excited about seeing everyone at the new Table, but then when I did... they all just look so pale. The setting is cool, I just wish it was a bit brighter, more livelier. It's like there's one dim spotlight shining on them in a dark room, and it's almost uncomfortable at times.
I know that sounds weird, but the lighting just kind of ruins the fun of watching it for me. It gives off a sort of depressing atmosphere that I can't get past.
Like I said, I can't seem to get into Bell's Hell's, and I hate that I can't, but that small little bit turns me away :(
Anyway, what are your guys' favorite Table? I'd love to know why :)
