Fan service you said? This is Yana T’s Trademark, this is her calling card. It is simply Kuroshitsuji.
From the way CloverWorks interprets Harcourt’s suffering and how it was framed, his moaning, down to the Viscount Druitt’s words. Those little things that in the manga are glossed over, forgotten and or ignored bc it is followed by some comedy. It is the way Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler works. Either you like it or not, ignored or acknowledged.
Kuroshitsuji S4 | Ep5 | Don't be such a bore. You should have fun, too. Sisters?! Have fun, too! Listen to that lordly manner of yours. Quite different from when you're at home! To think the little boy who always played house with me has become a prefect! Sister! I beg you, stop making uncalled-for remarks and go somewhere else! Laurie! What do you mean, "uncalled-for"? What do you mean? It's a pleasure to meet my brother's schoolmates. Brother, Brother, where is Lord Edgar? This is crooked, silly. He truly is a hero.
Posting Black Butler facts once a day until season 4 is released!
Yana Toboso and her team give the characters nicknames when they haven’t gotten used to their actual names! (typed out below cut)
5 more days!
Lau was called Ramen because fo the screentone on his outfit.
Dagger was called Tarou Kuidaore (A clown character from a restaurant in Osaka) because of all his stripes.
Grimsby was called Parakeet bc his hair looks like a parakeets crest.
Maurice was called criossant because of his hair.
Redmond was called “Prince Hotel” because the start of “Red Prefect” (in japanese, Aka = red and Puri is the start of prefect) sounds like “Akasaka Prince Hotel”.
Clayton was called Pomade because “he looks like he uses it.”
Grell was called Shark because [her] teeth are shark teeth.
William was called Takaeda (I’m not sure what this is referring to, if you know please lmk😭) and his middle name is whats left of the nickname
Ronald was called hamburgaler beacuse he looks like a Mcdonalds character
Sullivan was called Sally-chan because shes a witch (I believe they’re refrencing the old anime “Sally the Witch)
Wolfram was called Yaa-san because he says “Ja” a lot (pronounced like “yaa”)
Genuinely wondering how they'll make Idol Clayton work in the dub when they animate the blue cult arc. His nasal and 🤓☝️ voice works for the current arc, but how is it going to be when he becomes an idol?!
Imagine having a fanmeet with one of your favourite idols and the second he opens his mouth it's like a top hat was granted the ability to speak, going:
"Errrm, well akschually, the mitochondria is the power house of the cell. But of course I wouldn't expect you to know that."
And it's like, the worst, nasally, over the top voice you have ever heard in your life
(And seconds later he runs into a door, because apparently he's also very blind.)
