Aight I'll toss myself in for self indulgence:
How about some of the boys's reactions to a mc who throws their arms around them with a hug of relief?
(some spoilers for shadowbringers, DRK70 and RDM 60 (i think))
Thancred
certainly isn't expecting it. He's panting, exhausted, gunblade slipping from his grip, barely keeping himself propped up for Minfilia's sake, in his least favorite place in the two worlds he's had the displeasure of existing on. To say you take him by surprise is an understatement-- you take him down with you into the glittering wildflowers. It takes him a minute to remember how his arms work before he carefully, carefully returns your hug. And if you're both shaking and crying the entire time, well... Alphinaud and Alisae wont tell.
The pixies might though.
Urianger
barely has an easier time of it than Thancred, but that's only because he is, despite being worn thin, vaguely rested. He still rocks back onto his heels when you interrupt his monologue to throw your arms around him. His arms come around you immediately to steady you, and then tighten, and tighten, as he steadies himself. On one hand, this breakdown was three years in the making.
On the other hand, you now know how to shut him up.
G'raha
is crying. he's crying, okay?! it's been a really long, really challenging hundred years for him. He got shot. Twice. This body has been sleeping in the Crystal Tower for at least a couple of months. And when it finally dawns on you that this is him, him, Student of Baldesion and Scion of the Seventh Dawn, Exarch and Keeper of the Crystal Tower, and you practically tackled him back into the crystal throne that cradled him, well. He needs this as much as you do.
Estinien
Careful, spikey boy is spikey. You're definitely going to have a red mark on your forehead where you bonked against his armor. Gae Bolg clatters onto the ground as his arms come up automatically to steady you, and then his armet as he tosses it aside so that he can lean down to rest his forehead against yours. The last time he saw you, he snatched you out from beneath a falling blade. And the world is still going to shit around you, and it's certainly only going to get worse from here, but right in this moment you're alive in his arms and he can breathe.
Aymeric
should let you go. Should encourage you back into your bed, should tuck the blanket back up around your shoulders and kiss your forehead and tell you to get some more rest. But, fuck, you almost died right in front of him. Here, in this private room, he can surely be allowed this one small indulgence: you, hanging half off the bed, held up almost entirely by his arms as he buries his face in your neck.
Haurchefant
makes a little 'umph' sound as you practically tackle him back into his bed. He's an injured man, aren't you supposed to be a little more delicate with him?! His half-hearted complaints fall on deaf ears, though, especially when he feels your tears against his chest. He wraps his one arm-- just the one, his other side swathed in bandages-- around your shoulders and tugs you a little more securely against him. You've sacrificed so much, had so much taken from you, and when the dawn breaks you will no doubt go out to chop off more of yourself in the name of this war, but right now he needs you to know that you still have him.
Sidurgu
is the one who sweeps you off your feet. You can hear his heartbeat fluttering in his chest, you have got to stop doing this to him. Myste called the shades of the Knights Heavensward against you, and all he could think of was Fray, the fresh snow the clanking of Temple Knight armor and--
There's a lot of berating and ugly crying as he shamelessly clings to you. Even moreso when Rielle comes over to wedge herself between the two of you. He. Can't lose you, okay? Not like that. Not again.
BONUS
X'rhun
gets to breathe out one long sigh of relief before the impact. The two of you tumble down into the dirt, and he gets to make one small noise of complaint when your weight comes down on his wound before the realization hits him even heavier. It's over. It's over. Lambard is dead. He won't hurt anyone else ever again. The souls of the dead have been avenged and the legacy of the Mages Red yet lives and he just
laughs. Against your shoulder. And if his voice is wet and choked with tears, well. So is yours.

so this got wildly out of hand.
seamqueen is pretty good actually (or, how i learned to stop worrying and multiship the cat) (or, the seam yuri at least one post has been asking for) (or, everything i touch turns to character study.)
for starters, we know that queen knew seam (and the rest of card kingdom) in the past. as pictured above, seam mentions that they’re surprised to see her “again” at the end of chapter 2, and jevil and spades king both talk about her with some level of familiarity.
i generally agree with the premise that her object form – the laptop – was being used in the abandoned classroom before it got abandoned. all of the used classrooms we see have computers of some kind in them.
on the “light world” level of reality, the lightners took her laptop and continued to use it in the librarby after abandoning the classroom. on the “dark world” level of reality, the lightners abandoned the card kingdom citizens and took queen to the cyber world, continuing to use her.
this is a huge part of queen’s characterization to me, as well. she is quite heavily used and prized by the lightners – a fancy laptop that can do it all. in queen’s mind, the lightners need her, and that means they’ll never leave her behind. it’s hardly a glimmer in her eye to think that she couldn’t make them happy forever – that they’d actually abandon her like they did the card kingdom citizens. being queen, she attributes this to being very, very powerful and having the lightners under her control instead. they need her to be happy, right? but we, the audience, know she doesn’t have the whole story. (and like spades before her, she acts under the will of a very powerful lightner in her supposed quest – the knight. that’s a part of how she and spades can oppose our heroes at all – though their fates as video game bosses in a broader, more meta sense still guarantee their losses.) she doesn’t know the true extent of her powerlessness like spamton and jevil do – and she doesn’t know that, like everyone else, there’ll be a day when she’s not useful anymore. being happy in her role isn’t really much of a choice when that role, in and of itself, isn’t something she can choose.
on seam’s end, they’ve grown tired of the whole thing. they know there’s nothing for them in the light or the dark – sure, a lightner could come patch them up, but they’d have no choice in the matter and they’d still fall out of use at the end besides. the cycle of violence (the carousel of violence, if you will) – the cycle of use and disuse, of being owned and abandoned, is something they’ve grown quite aware of and quite nihilistic about. they’ve reached the point where instead of being angry, like spades, or desperate, like spamton, they’re just totally like
they also seem to know at least a little about alternate save files, judging by their dialogue regarding the shadow crystals. but again, they’ve got a totally nihilistic attitude towards that, too. they’re pretty content to taunt the party about the end of the world and the horrific futility of their lives in it with a smile on their face.
there are hints towards just how far their precognition goes; they know things about how spamton found his crystal in the neo body, that it’s powered by mettaton’s Lightner Hope™, they know that the world will end (and it did, bye-bye fountain), they talk about the events of chapter 3 in usual cryptic fashion. queen, meanwhile, knows very little of the Big Truth of the world – she knows she’s Computer (darkner type) just like the cards are Cards (darkner type) but not Literally A Computer On A Higher Layer Of Reality, she has no inkling of the knight’s true motivations, she hasn’t thought too hard about just how powerless being a darkner really makes her. and she certainly doesn’t have precognitive abilities. i do think she knows a little about neo just because i like to think she and swatch are close, but the extent of it (and what swatchton were getting up to about it) is also a mystery to her. she’s got other stuff on her mind!
and so you get this really interesting set of characters that you could put together in a lot of interesting ways. the card kingdom was abandoned long before spades came into power (as the knight was responsible for putting him in such a position, not the act of abandonment itself, and i think there were tensions running high while all four kings were ruling,) so queen could’ve left as early as before anything had fallen apart at all (which is what i think happened, given). what was queen and seam’s old friendship like? were they close? how close? i love a good pair of old friends. you could establish them reconnecting after the events of chapter 2. in the snowgrave route, does queen look to them alongside swatch for comfort? only them? how does their nihilism come into play there? and what of the normal route?
i really like the idea that seam knows of snowgrave even in a normal route. the idea of their disaffectedness and their penchant for “games” contributing to a sort of cheerful numbness to the whole thing is really interesting. and with queen in the picture, they know all of these things will happen to her and her people – but they don’t see a point in telling, either. why would it matter? this’ll all end the same either way. the difference won’t matter for her. just don’t worry about it.
