You know i always assumed Persephone was a child but i thought that was just me over thinking evrything again and it was just my little headcannon but i just looked up the marriage age in ancient greece and for "women" it was 14-16...
Hades isn't just into incest he is also a pedophile!
No one in greek mythology is sane

Heyyy, i love your art so much!! Its so so pretty and adorable! <33
I wanted to ask, if you have time, if you could draw Demeter? Maybe with a heartcharm on her collar? I‘d love to use it as a lockscreen if that wouldnt bother you?
Again, only if it was okay for you, no pressure❤️❤️
thank you! i'm very flattered you would like to use my art as your lockscreen :] i hope you like it!

Jack: Dracula's ship should be here by now! But there were those strange reports of sudden patches of fog...
Us, staring at Jack in Log of the Demeter:
Tumblr media
Dr. Jack "takes 3-5 business days to complete a thought" Seward: ...but I'm sure that fog isn't anything Dracula-related so we'll just stay put and wait right here!

i have a lot of bones to pick this chapter and i will get to that but i'm still really pressed by how rachel depicts kronos apparently grieving having to kill hera in her vision
Tumblr media
rachel does this really gross thing where at some point in the narrative, she'll have the male abuser depict some kind of sadness in regards to his female victim, but it is not remorse. it really reads like whitewashing the abuse itself because "can't you see how upset the abuser is that he has to do this :("
apollo got that really disgusting pov chapter talking about his perspective on persephone after raping her and that was bad enough, but then you also see kronos and his relationship with hera being sanitized or even shipped, when hera said verbatim that he abused her and she did not want to sleep with him, she had hoped she could just charm him. the narrative explicitly points out that kronos is a chronic abuser - he kills or severely injures rhea in a fit of rage after using all her powers, he frequently drives away any nymph or consort who approaches him, and he spends who knows how long mentally torturing hera.
there's another essay tucked into that but i just find it so fucking egregious that rachel wants to portray kronos as being upset he has to kill hera because of his own feelings for her, when the fact of the matter is he is choosing to kill her, just like he chose to kill rhea, and swallow his sons, and tear hera in half. depicting an abuser (a serial abuser, in this case) as being upset over an action he's choosing to do for his own benefit is ... a choice, and a disturbing one. why are we centering the abuser in a sympathetic light when he is still ultimately abusing someone???

litpollo is so great cause its showing both their character developments <3 like, lester as apollo wouldve stricken lityerses or like exploded him guts inside out by that point. lityerses under the instruction of midas wouldve killed them all and not have shown an inch of remorse. but lester instead forgives lit which allows lit to grow and become a better Stable person and they become better people together

(scavengers reign spoilers ! )
the scene in scavengers reign when sam dies absolutely kills me btw im still thinking about it. i love how noble it is, since he's the pilot, first of all. but also how him and ursula arent really friends, they dont really know eachother, but they trust eachother and care about eachother and they were going to get to the demeter together and ursula sees that sam can't go on and breaks down but also respects sams decision even though they can literally see the demeter's crashsite from where they are. thinking about how she hugs him and they touch eachothers hands and press their foreheads together and its just so gentle and kind. and also im thinking about the moment before, after he attacked her, when he said to walk behind him and carry a knife in case the parasite makes him do it again and she doesnt want to hurt him but she trusts him on that decision so she walks behind and carries the knife

I always see people say Demeter in myths was overprotective & a control freak/ helicoper parent.
But if i was surrounded by rap-sts, murderers & men who were violent against women etc i would ALSO be just as protective of my daughter & keep my daughter away from the gods.
Shes not horrible for trying to keep her daughter away from men who would take advantage of her. Like…… a man who kidnapped her in the end…
Its almost as if she was right to do so

okay so was anyone gonna tell me that the old man with an incomprehensible accent that we all treated as a walking meme would actually end up giving an incredible and haunting speech about life and death or was I just supposed to expect that

Zeus: infodumps about birds, order and structure and law, the "why and because" of it all, and why the clouds change
Hera: infodumps about marriage customs throughout the world, pregnancy and that whole process from conception to birth, and different types of organization
Poseidon: infodumps about fish and other marine animals, with a very specific focus on sharks
Demeter: infodumps about agriculture and trees
Hestia and Hades: listen patiently every single time, even when it's something they've already been told

On clearer nights, when the near-constant clouds and light pollution saw fit to lift a little, you could actually see the stars above the Junkyard.  On those occasions, Mistoffelees liked to celebrate by creating a few stars of his own.  All the kittens who could stay awake that long would gather at the base of the old car boot as Misto sat above them, waving his paws like he was conducting a symphony, and conjured bursts of color and light.  Wheels of red, flashes of green, streaks of blue and purple, and bright flutters of pink and yellow.  Better than any human fireworks display as they pranced among the existing stars, bouncing between them with frenetic energy or taking the forms of various constellations to tear through the sky on shimmering paws.  Sometimes they would whistle down to ground level, daring Electra or Pouncival to join in the game and chase or touch them, only to explode into sparkles if they got too close.  And every time, they would cheer and clap their paws and beg for him to do it again, and Misto would grin from ear to ear and gladly oblige.
Demeter could never remember Macavity using his magic so frivolously.  For him, magic was like… a sword, she supposed.  One of those enormous lumps of steel humans needed two hands to wield, and even then not very gracefully.  Heavy, cruel, devastatingly effective at knocking both the wind from your body and every thought from your head… but in essence, just a blunt instrument.  A tool he used to get what he wanted in the quickest, most brutal way possible.  And apparently equally exhausting to use, too–Macavity always wielded his magic like every time might be the last time, so he may as well make it count.  One massive blow like he was trying to level the entire battlefield at once, and that was it–back to claws and teeth and wits, never daring to let on how much had been taken out of him.  It used to fill Demeter with concern, but in the later days it became a mingling of fear and dread.
She’d wanted very much to be afraid of Misto when they first met.  But he made that very hard, even from the word go.  How could she be afraid of any magical cat who wielded his power so gently, so joyfully?  Who seemed aware of what a tremendous gift he’d been given and wanted to share it with everyone (even just for the sake of showing off a bit).  Who thought nothing of “wasting” his magic and would use it for anything from lighting a broken streetlamp to setting Tugger’s tail on fire.  Who greeted you with fire and chaos and something ancient and unknowable in his soul (how many lives had the Everlasting Cat given him, Demeter often wondered), but reflected back the creation of some new star you’d never seen before and left you with glee and wonder instead.
Who reveled in that act of creation, never destruction, even if it was little bits of illusion like this that wouldn’t last.  But then again, she had seen him bring Old Deuteronomy back seemingly from the dead.  There was something comforting about a cat who could do something like that still wanting to do silly little color and light shows for a bunch of kittens.  “Comforting” wasn’t really a word that felt immediately intuitive for Misto, not the way it did with Munkustrap or Deuteronomy himself; but when they danced together at midnight and smirked at each other over familiar beats in Gus’s stories, that was exactly the way he felt to Demeter. Which, these days, was one of the highest compliments she could give.
Presently, Misto was asking for more “walkabout” requests.  A chorus of little voices immediately rang out,  only to descend into arguing about We’ve already seen that one, that one’s not real, you always ask for that one, do something cooler this time!  With no consensus reached, Misto cocked a sly eyebrow at Demeter across from him, where she was lounging across the steps to the tire.  After a moment’s contemplation, she asked for the Lynx–it was always her favorite constellation, even if the Lion was more impressive.  He gave her a brisk nod, clapping his paws together and rubbing them briskly before opening them with a flourish and blowing the sparks from his claws.  Sure enough, the sparks coalesced to form the figure of a great spectral beast, lumbering down to earth in a mass of flickering gold like a swarm of fireflies.  Tumblebrutus gasped in delight and Jemima gripped her little sister’s shoulders as it passed, stopping in front of Demeter and lowering into a deep bow at her feet.
She knew how she must look as she glanced up at her friend–like a kitten herself seeing the Jellicle Moon for the first time, a big dopey smile across her face.  Misto echoed the smile back at her and cocked his head to one side, beckoning her to join them.  And she did, rising from the steps and coming to sit behind Pounce and her daughters, but not before reaching out a claw to touch and scatter the stardust before her.
