I was diagnosed as autistic when I was 10, and I was more specifically diagnosed with "High functioning autism". The person my psychiatrist saw was me on easy days, on days when I was fully calm, on days when I could easily communicate, and had no other job than to sit and do what she told me to do.

She hadn't seen me go fully mute for months on end, she hadn't seen me fully unable to take care of my basic needs, she hadn't seen me have violent meltdowns, she hadn't seen me hit and bite myself because I couldn't identify my emotions, she hadn't seen me run into the street because I have nothing in my brain telling me not to, she hadn't seen me unable to change clothes for multiple days, she hadn't seen me only able to shower once a week, she hadn't seen me unable to properly exist in gened, she hadn't seen me have severe meltdowns over a change I liked just because I didnt expect it, she hadn't seen me put a small hole in a wall during a meltdown, she hadn't seen me as a full time AAC user, she hadn't seen me as a part time AAC user, she hadn't seen me unable to sleep without an intensely large amount of nightlights, she hadn't seen me unable to bathe myself until age 9 or 10, etc.

She saw me in a calm state, once every few months, on days when I could communicate easily and do what she asked. That is all she saw of me, her asking me questions, having me do things, and asking my mom questions.

If she saw me, and I was the way I described in front of her, my diagnosis would probably be closer to something like "moderate functioning autism".

But here's the thing, ON DIFFERENT DAYS, I FIT DIFFERENT CRITERIA FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF AUTISM DIAGNOSES.

My ability to "Function" varies so so much, and this makes functioning labels extremely inaccurate.

Now, let's use support needs to describe me. I am a person who's support needs fluctuate from med-high. I have med-high support needs. This is accurate for me, and it is not ableist.

I wanted to talk about this to describe how functioning labels suck, and also to talk about how support needs fluctuate; and that is okay.

Since scars are seen as very beautiful in clan culture and that makes Brightheart attractive in the clan’s eyes, would characters like Crookedstar and Cinderpelt be considered pretty kitties? What other cats besides Brightheart are seen as drop dead gorgeous (even though she is the peak of that in the clans XD)?

I actually designed BB!Houndleap to be the perfect example of attractiveness to BB!Clan cats. Multiple colors, BIG scars, strong.

SO, yes, Crookedstar is a very pretty kitty. He's huge, muscular, has a big scar and is very strong.

Cinderpelt unfortunately is starting from a lower point. She's solid gray. No stripes, no spots. Can't fight. She does get points for her scars though; but unfortunately she's a Cleric!

Your sketches were SO exciting, and well, I wasn't sure what the shell would look like fully rendered, but I wanted to give it a go, because It's such a unique concept! It reminded me of how some gamer PC towers have these screens that let you see the inside of the machinery.

Okay SO. The way I took it as I was re-drawing it, this particular shell is more focused on its technological abilities, as well as how it doubles as a Super Genius Fix-It Kit, and less of a Battle/Protective Shell. I wasn't really thinking about that when I was doodling the big picture. Btw, sorry if I kind of?? took the idea off your hands?? Brainstorming has no chains of its own,,,but if you're not cool with it, say so. I'll keep my lil' hands to myself. Probably. Maybe. Hopefully. But in the MEANTIME--I was imagining Donnie as this--like, the way he survives or gains the food on the table--It has more to do with how he can fix anything, right? He isn't picky about what he's asked to repair, so people of different standings can call him up. He'll be there. He charges almost nothing to those who don't have much and asks triple to the rich guys, so it all balances out. (He'll know if you're lying about your economic status. Fuck up once and that's on you.)

The thing is that his work is good. Very good. And fast. Those who can afford it know that he'll do a far better job than whoever else is on the market, so at the end of the day, he gets his pay. He probably also does underground work too, which works great for his dubious morality, but you know. Mostly to play Big Shot for fools for the right amount. Which can be straight up for free depending on who's on the other edge of the hammer. Lol. Now that the rant is over, I'd love to hear about anything and everything you'd have to say about these ideas of yours. If you want.

Yo, I just had a late night Bad Batch thought / headcanon:

Maybe the reason that Tech has his little recording device set up on the right side of his goggles is because he has hearing loss in that ear and that’s how he compensates.

My reason for that? Because Crosshair using his right shoulder as a stabilizer for making tricky shots. We see this happen during the Bad Batch’s introductory arc during season 7 of The Clone Wars. The comfortable, easy way they do this makes it clear that this is not the first time this happened.

Look at Tech’s head! He just tilts it to the side slightly to give Crosshair more space. The ease with which these two have this dynamic makes it clear that they’ve done this before. Crosshair uses Tech as a stabilizer / tripod when he’s making a tricky high shot. Tech isn’t even fazed by that and clearly accommodates Crosshair.

Now take a look at Tech’s goggle set-up:

That recording device is on the same side that Crosshair used / uses.

It clearly records both visual and sound, as evidence later in the Batch’s intro arc. Tech is able to play back the flying creatures’ sounds to lure them in for help.

No matter how good the guns that the Batch use are (and I suspect that they aren’t using peak GAR weaponry because, well, why give your best to the deviant clones?), no one is going to have a gun fired that close to their ear without suffering some kind of hearing loss. Even if Tech has outstanding ear protection, he’s still going to have some impact, at least to that ear. (And I suspect he doesn’t have top of the line ear protection because, again, the Bad Batch are the defective experimental deviant clones.) Hence, he has a device on that side of his head to compensate for another defect (and to continue with his hobby of recording everything). His brothers are probably aware of this and just say he records everything to hide the fact that HOLY SHIT TECH HAS HEARING LOSS.

And maybe that’s one reason why he’s so expressive with his hands (and good at understanding hand signals). Perfect (or even decent) hearing isn’t required when you speak with your hands.

Anyway, make of this what you will. This notion came to me at a late hour and made my heart hurt.

why are so many readers absolutely convinced that mat's dad is going to get a redemption arc in the show as part of the Return To Emond's Field plotline? he has about 5 lines in the entire book series and is just a knockoff tam who literally doesn't matter to the story AT ALL, they're not going to waste time giving an arc to an extremely minor character when they can barely even squeeze in all the main characters' stuff. not to mention that we really don't need yet another "shitty parent is actually good and their kid has to forgive them because they've Changed" storyline in media in general. not to mention that mat probably won't see his parents again anyway by the end of the show, so there would be no point in delving deeper into them when we could spend the time on, say, tam.
