this is going to be pure word vomit, but wow. okafor being as important to the entire story of the ones who live despite dying in the first episode was insane and incredible writing. the parallel between him and rick coming full circle at the end, with rick remembering the last thing okafor said before dying and not letting beale manipulate him at the echelon meeting. okafor retroactively being revealed to have never "died" as rick never really did, deep down, because he warned rick about the sword. the ONLY time he snapped was when rick insisted he had nothing, because he didn't have nothing. he always kept his wife's sacrifice in mind, just as rick always kept michonne in mind, even after he chose to "die," because he did this not being able to escape, but he could at least still build a better future for michonne and their children. rick switching sides, just like okafor did, and destroying the CRM's army to save everyone else. the story about rick's father and the burning crops...and okafor being someone who was someone who was researching and growing crops, whereas beale was stealing resources from other communities and destroying them. like okafor knew the CRM had to be destroyed so something new could grow, and he genuinely had a plan to do that and saw a future where more could grow, but beale only ever saw destruction in the future and used violence so that his own community could grow. beale telling rick that both the walkers and them are dead, whereas okafor told rick that all people are his people, everyone alive. beale had spies in other communities to help keep him informed and to help destroy those communities, whereas okafor trusted rick and told him the truth plainly, despite this going against beale's aims and potentially endangering his life, and rick finding his strength in trusting michonne, and lack of trust being what undoes thorne and jadis.

people love to use ffxiii’s messy development as a reason to completely shit on the game but honestly the fact they managed to sneak in so many little details in the gameplay in a way that reflects the characters and story despite all the miscommunication between the dev sections is just impressive to me

#was xiii horribly planned out and missed out on a lot of important feedback because of the poor time management? absolutely #does that mean you cant be impressed with what the game achieved regardless of whether you liked it or not? fuck no #also the fact theres next to no bugs (not counting the pc port because... yeah) is amazing all things considered #and the graphics still hold up to this day #the linearity is everyones main issue with the game but look at x dude #x was linear as hell too but it makes sense bc yuna had a pilgrimage to follow #just as how it makes sense for the xiii cast to not have time to stop and explore cocoon while they were being hunted by the government #thats why you have so much more freedom to explore when youre on pulse #theres not even anything objectively wrong with having a game be linear in the first place #and the people complaining about the story being ''incoherent'' are just... wrong? #they give you enough hints within the dialogue to piece the story together yourself while also not leaning on exposition dumps to tell it #and if you cant do that then the datalogs are right THERE #games have relied on ''notes'' to tell parts of their story for ages now and i dont understand why its suddenly bad when xiii does it #i dont like sitting through exposition dumps and i like being able to analyse and theorize about a plot WHILE im experiencing it #and a lot of other people feel the same way so its not an objectively bad aspect of the game's storytelling #you just need to pay attention and be patient and wait for the story to unfold #i went off the rails but ANYWAY #aki stfu #final fantasy xiii

they spent the first half of the episode making it absolutely clear that Haruka and Michiru were being chill and looking after baby Hotaru and her dad, so them showing up on the top of the ruins, Michiru playing the fucking violin, and then provoking Usagi and the other girls into a fight is sooooo fucking hilarious

because they knew Usagi was right at this point. They knew she was the messiah, and they knew they were gonna leave this fight by basically swearing allegiance to her. they weren't even bothered by it, it seemed. they had like fully accepted all of this and were ok with it.

but FIRST they were gonna show up and be dramatic haters one last time

#like its sooo funnny because 1) they clearly took that baby and left in secret #like Usagi came out with the baby and then didn't know where it went once Haruka and Michiru approached her #like she thought she fucking dropped the baby in the ruins or something??? and they were just gonna let her think that???? amazing #2) they had clearly been taking care of Hotaru for a few days before they brought her to her dad #and they knew as soon as those two were settled they were gonna go deal with the messiah matter (aka confront Usagi) #and so they had DAYS to plan exactly how dramatic they were gonna be how they were gonna pose what they were gonna say to mess with Usagi #like 'ok we're gonna climb to the top of the ruins and I'll sit there with a rock while you start playing violin' #and they clearly were using like things they thought would get to Usagi to provoke her to fight #and FOR WHAT #the DRAMA OF IT ALL THAT'S WHAT #like they really were just out there like making sure Usagi was willing to kick their asses if need be #and once she proved she would they were like 'oh sweet.' and then left #haruka tenou #michiru kaioh #sailor moon #sailor neptune #sailor uranus
