All Steve can see before him is the inky darkness of the Upside Down, the air thick and it feels like he can't breathe. Eddie lays before him and there's so much blood, so much red, and he's trying so hard, so hard to stop it. To save him. There's no one else, just him and Eddie here and there's so much blood and he's trying to stop it all and Eddie's not moving, not breathing and it's too much and he can't save him, he can't save him, he can't save him.

In reality, Steve is in his room, in his bed, eyes screwed shut as he twists in his bedsheets, covered in a sheen of sweat. He tosses and turns and mumbles of 'no, no no' and 'Eddie, Eddie, please, Eddie' can be heard from his lips. Not at all aware of the world around him, mind far too gone in the nightmare that's plaguing him.

The duo stood overlooking Mondstadt that afternoon, close to the Winery, and now their tasks were nearing completion. Soon enough they wouldn't have use for one another, but for the time, he might just enjoy his company. His arms swaying loosely by his side, no further words were necessary at that moment. Contentment. Sometimes -- just sometimes -- they were able to co-exist in peace, despite all their differences and issues.

Kaeya's eye flickered over his features, blinking to process, his smug expression fading at the man who appeared to be in thought. He looked away with a low "Hm.." Though shocked, it wasn't like he gave a lot of reaction to something they could consider more of a mutual feeling. The temptation was strong to make another comment, which would no doubt be met with a scowl and some form of regret on Diluc's part. However, he abstained. Aiming to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the other now, he mimicked his stance. His touch was barely discernible, but it was his way of replying with comfort.

"It's the anniversary next month..." He replied, mitigating his sadness. Crepus Ragnvindr's death is undoubtedly a time for memories of sorrow, resentment, and rage. In light of that, presumably the reality, 'you're all i've got,' would be etched a little more permanently in thought.

it's been a day. her entire lunch break was spent sitting across the street from the post office, a priority - marked box in her lap with a weight that aches in her gut and glues her to the concrete. this is what you wanted, she has to repeat to herself like the mantra keeping her stitched together. and yet, the finality of such a thing, the notion that she is shipping away her last chance at a life with company aside from her thoughts is paralyzing. she should be able to send back a box of things. she should be able to do a lot of shit, considering this was her plan. it almost feels hypocritical to be enveloped in such a conundrum.

she pays nearly ten dollars to ship it out. she returns home after the remainder of a shift with her tail between her legs.

the front door swings open, daisy dropping her keys on the foyer table as she toes her shoes off. "mags?" she calls out apprehensively, voice carrying through the halls. "you home yet? kinda feeling breakfast for dinner, wanna know if you're in."

Ultraviolet (2015) — ❝ After a few years of posting music independently through SoundCloud and YouTube, Ultraviolet was Stevie Rivas's first album and project with a major record label. Most of the songs on the album were debuted live over the summers of 2014 and 2015, where Rivas spent her time performing during festival circuits and opening for Imagine Dragons and Fall Out Boy. Rivas described the album as a manifestation of the sun setting on her teenage years and the dawn of early adulthood, where she found comfort in the chaos of not knowing where life would take her. The album would be a critically acclaimed debut for Rivas. Somebody Else became the biggest hit off of the album; it would reach number one nearly six months after its release, with nearly 134 million streams. Rivas would go on three separate tours for the Ultraviolet album. ❞

Wonderland (2017) — ❝ Following hot on the heels of Somebody Else and Ultraviolet's late success, Wonderland is Stevie's most popular and awarded album to date after a debut at number two on the Billboard charts. Wonderland (stylized as WONDERLaND) spawned five singles: Hypnotic, Bikini Porn, Gone, East of Eden, and Midnight Rain. Hypnotic and Gone would be Rivas's first singles to hit mainstream radio and chart on the Billboard Hot 100. This album is infamously known for being written and recorded while Rivas was under the influence, as Rivas described it to Rolling Stones as the acid trip record of her dreams. It is also the only album to feature Rivas's face on the cover, despite all her album covers being personal photos of herself. Shortly after the conclusion of the Wonderland World Tour in 2019, Rivas would enter treatment for opiate addiction for the first time. ❞

time forgets no one (2022) — ❝ Time Forgets No One is the first album in nearly five years after the release of Wonderland and sporadic features on other artists' songs for Rivas. A surprise release on December 31st, 2022, Time Forgets No One (stylized as time forgets no one) would become Rivas's highest rated album by critics, receiving a 92 score on Metacritic. Grapefruit was the only official single and song to be sent to radio, a surprise to fans considering the number of singles Wonderland had produced. Rivas revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that the album had been recorded in early 2021, while Rivas was sober and living in New York. The album’s title was written in Rivas's handwriting on the cover, returning to the trend of album photography not featuring her face. Rivas announced a summer tour for the album on January 1st, 2023, but the tour was subsequently cancelled after Rivas re-entering treatment in May. There has only been one performance of select songs from Time Forgets No One to date: the Fairford Summer Block Bash Music Festival, where Rivas performed Grapefruit, What If It Doesn't End Well, Taken ft. MUNA, Holocene, and Chasing Thunder. ❞

steve doesn't know why he feels slightly flustered as he watches the action before him, watches what eddie does - but he's quick to ignore it. brush past it. tells himself it's been a long week (month? year?), he's tired, and he hasn't been on a date since before all the bullshit. it's all just getting to him, that's it. he forces out a snort, giving a shake of his head. "is that supposed to impress me?" he asks, eyebrow raising. he settles back against the couch, taking another swig of his beer before speaking again. "have you always been able to do that? i don't remember you ever doing that ... before." it's always an awkward subject, bringing up their past, and now he's flustered for a whole other reason.
