some sbr (and phantom blood!) thoughts for you in general, your highness, if you'll take the words of this lowly peon-- i've been watching some documentaries on the gilded age recently, and a thought came up on me; how would the blorbos of the sbr and phantom blood era handle the societal expectations of the era? like, they can't really be affectionate or anything in public, so i feel like some of the pda/jealous ones would really struggle. plus, it would be inconvienent for them to talk to darling, especially because an engaged couple or even just two single people weren't really allowed to commune with eachother in private in anything other then social occasions. it's a fascinating dilemma, really, and i'd be fascinated to here about how some yanderes from this time period would handle this stuff. your ever faithful, ever loyal, ever miserable peon-- 🌸 anon

What a good ask, peon. When I think of the old American west, I tend to think of those old cowboy movies focusing on the wild west. What a wild three decades. 

We have to consider where exactly they are in the world, and their social standing. Frilly fan language means absolutely nothing to someone who grew up on the streets- Although Dio has studied aristocratic courting rituals religiously. England and the US are different culturally, and the south is very different from the west and north. 

The Gilded age takes place from 1877-1900-ish, doesn’t it? Steel Ball Run takes place right in the middle of that, starting in 1890 and ending a year later. I tend to think of the Steel Ball Run cast as living in the ‘wild west,’ which takes place generally from 1865 to 1895, so it’s perfectly lined up. Phantom Blood’s main story is in 1888, but considering it’s entirely in England, it would be considered late Victorian era rather than the Gilded age. The entire concept of a débutante is so horrifying in a yandere context. If I’m misremembering and the entire concept of presenting a young lady to society for the purpose of marrying her off is not in the late Victorian era, or any of the other information I just presented is incorrect, ignore the inaccuracy. Débutante is used in a gender neutral way here I pinky swear.

Jonathan takes the entire courting process very seriously. Not that he’s any good at formalities, but there’s an attempt. The concept of marriage being something romantic was very new in the Victorian period- but not a foreign concept to Jonathan in the slightest. He grew up with a loving family, his future spouse should be the love of his life. It was generally important to the male identity to be educated, do a sport, and be a gentleman- Jonathan fits every one of those requirements. By all means, he fits in. The only thing stopping him from never getting a second glance is how eager he is to please his darling. “It’s odd how that boy follows his darling around like a dog all day.” is a common statement from those who recognize him happily trotting down the street to go see you- that’s right. He’ll walk instead of taking a carriage. He doesn’t want the visit to feel so formal, he really just wants to spend time with you, even if you aren’t out in society yet. Jonathan thinks it’s going to help his chances of being formally introduced to you when you really become a débutante- but it is not. Gifts, flowers, attention, it all comes off as too much. He mopes a bit when his efforts are proven to be futile, but that doesn’t mean that he’s discouraged. Well, it doesn’t matter, he can always just propose. Why would your parents turn down a proposal from a Joestar, who can take care of you forever? 

Erina tends to be rather shy. She sincerely prays that she’s caught your eye- and does just about everything she can think of to get it. She’s quite the stalker. Your interests are her interests! She’ll show up at any sport you play just to watch you and show you she’s right there to support you, even if she avoids directly speaking to you for quite some time. It’s improper, and she doesn’t want to come across as needy, or socially inept. She can hope, though. Maybe if she just keeps showing up in places she knows you’ll be. The best day of her life is likely the day you come to a débutante ball, assuming you’re of the same social class. She hovers quite a bit, and takes a moment to beg whatever God is out there to introduce you to her. When her wish is granted, she clings to you for the rest of the night, regardless of what is and is not appropriate. 

Dio is a man obsessed with social standing. When you’re denied something for so long, it’s obvious that you’d become infatuated until you get it. Dio’s temperament is closer to obsession; Even when Dio reached his comfortable spot, he still wanted more. He actually takes courting rather seriously in his youth, he does it the proper way. He waits until you’ve been formally introduced to society, and makes his initial move. Just one dance will do. He doesn’t want to come off as desperate- Despite being at every single ball you’ve ever attended, sans one or two for his reputation’s sake. He’ll only visit your home on the proper days, always brings gorgeous, full bouquets, and leaves within forty-five minutes. He’s not about to take up your entire afternoon, but he’s not about to let another suitor talk your ear off for that long, either. Whatever hobby you’ve taken up is his greatest interest for today’s conversation. When you see him in public he’ll offer a polite smile, but nothing more. Of course, this all goes out the window when he turns, since he can just take you with absolutely no repercussions. 

Johnny is always going to treat the world like it’s Danville, Kentucky. His stay in England didn’t have any effect on him development-wise, he sounds like he’s from Kentucky still, too. All that bullshit about waiting around for the chance to dance with his darling is his own personal nightmare- and it isn’t going to happen anytime soon. He has a bit of a ‘modern’ take on dating, if you could call it that. He’s not as obviously affectionate as someone like Gyro, but it’s not like there’s a lack of it. He’ll hold his darling’s hand while you wait in line, he’ll whine until you sit with him on his horse, he can’t sleep unless you’re right there… Johnny’s pretty forward, regardless of what society deems is fine. He’s a good boy, especially in his prime- there’s no reason for your family to not like him. If your family isn’t accepting of him… he doesn’t really want their blessing, anyway.

Gyro has adapted fairly well to life in America, but not when it comes to the culture shock of not being able to cling to his darling constantly. Whether or not his explanation of how being overly affectionate is the norm back home is true is up for debate. He loves to hang on his darling- putting his head on top of yours while you try to talk to some poor stranger is one of his preferred pastimes. Gyro does plan on returning home eventually, but he has some things to do here before he can- one of those things being finding a way to take you back with him. Gyro’s not really put off by getting told to stop, truly, what are you going to do about it? Are you going to get in the way of him and his darling? Don’t be stupid. Gyro will listen to his darling’s request to not have as much pda if you genuinely compromise with him. No pda, but full access to you in privacy? Cool, cool, we’re never going out again. Gyro gets his fill in little ways, he wants to at least hold hands, or be able to put his hand on your waist. You’re seriously denying him what he needs because it isn’t “socially acceptable”?? You’re being ridiculous. Gyro won’t humor silly courting rules because it’s what you’re used to, he’s right here, you’re right here, if the only thing between you is some traditions, then Gyro has nothing in his way. 

Firstly, Hotpants does not really acknowledge societal norms. She’s taking on the “man’s” role in the relationship anyway, so if her darling is feminine, it could pass as a “typical” relationship, as long as she’s presenting herself in a masculine way. She gets weird looks when she goes to get dinner for the two of you- she catches, you cook. People often try to haggle her when she needs to buy new gear, it’s annoying. It’s actually a giant pain in the ass for her, but it’s worth it if it’s to provide for you. Hotpants isn’t really interested in the whole courting process, she’s very quick to snatch her darling up and lock them somewhere safe, even if you're not sure who she is. You can play housespouse for her while she takes care of what she needs to, you’re being given the easy life, is it really that bad? She’s not even forcing you to be affectionate with her- just stay put and listen to what she tells you to do. You can even write to your family, if you want, just know that she’s going to skim it over to make sure it’s appropriate. You’ll even have some time alone while she goes out for the day- interrupted by the sound of her boots and the sight of her jacket hung up by the door. When you are eventually let out- Likely to transport you somewhere else, I cannot see Hotpants letting her darling back out again- she’s a bit cold, but firm. If you can be trusted to sit still, she’ll let you ride her horse while she guides it. If you cannot, she’ll ride with you, arms around your sides.

On twitter sometime ago you described your writing habits as something similar to my own (slow, tedious, perfectionist, compulsive, agonizing over getting the words perfect instead of editing later, etc) And you also wrote a lot of dope things like Galactic 2E and Venture that are I hope you dont mind me saying, deeply inspirational. So coming from someone who hasnt Gotten There yet I have to ask, how do you get yourself to get up and just write the damn thing already?

omg thank u so much, that means more than i can possibly say. i wish i had a better set of advice but honestly so much of my creative work is vibes and hyperfixation based, and every time i finish something i look back on it like “how the fuck did i do that”, but here are the things that work for me. they are very much based on my own particular adhd and writing hangups so ur mileage will definitely vary.

start small: i didn’t start writing ttrpgs with big projects like venture & g2e. i started with a 200 word game, then some one-pagers, then kept growing from there. @jdragsky has talked a lot about the importance of building the skill of finishing things, and small projects are a really good way of doing that. hell, even g2e only exists bc i started with the smaller project of galactic, then went back to it a year later to build on it again.

share as u go: when i started working on bigger games, and this year as i’ve been working on longer fics, friends to share screenshots of my wip have been invaluable. that way i can get the immediate validation of someone reading my thing and giving feedback without feeling like i need to Publish it yet. biggest shoutout in the world to my friends who tolerate my writing nonsense.

write in chunks: this is kind of the combination of those first two points. bob games are big piles of little lists. i tend to write fic in short, impactful scenes. i have a wip that’s an sbr game, which is a big pile of little advances. that way, i am constantly getting that feeling of accomplishment when i write something. i can agonize over word choice and vibes and editing but then i actually get to a stopping point, where i like that little bit enough to move on to the next one. it seems crazy looking back that i wrote 36 places & 36 traits for g2e, but i didn’t just sit down and knock them all out. i wrote a few, sent them to some friends, then i wrote a few more. u know?

don’t force it: sometimes, the vibe just isn’t there. sometimes, u spend a year doing barely any writing or game design bc there’s a pandemic and ur brain doesn’t work anymore. etc. i’ve thought a lot the past few years about the difference btwn the feeling of wanting to write bc i want to write the thing, and the feeling of wanting to write bc i like the idea of being the person who wrote the thing. when i realize i’m in that second mindset, i go and think about something else. bc no good writing comes from that (at least ime)

find what u like: this is kinda related to the one above, but it’s another thing i’ve been thinking about lately. i spent a lot of time when i was younger assuming that bc i like writing, i had to write a novel, bc that’s what writers do. i would try to follow writing advice made for people who simply aren’t me. “writers must learn to use description sparingly” lol way ahead of u. that kinda thing. realizing that i love writing fanfiction for its transformativity, and i love writing dialogue bc it’s what i’m good at, was a huge revelation. i can just do that. i don’t have to follow the regular writer mold when i can just write really fucking good dialogue-heavy fanfiction. and in that realization, i’ve been able to grow as a writer by gaining the ability to write things down that i’m happy with, and grow from there.

prescription adderall: i told u this list was a mess. this one has kinda been crucial for me. i realized i had adhd in my first year of college in 2017 and started taking adderall for my second year of college in mid-2018. i started churning out creative projects in 2019. coincidence? absolutely not oh my god are u kidding

the sounds of subaru’s footsteps bounced off the walls, the clock ticking louder than his breath. he staggered for a moment and recollected his balance—wiping away the sweat that dripped down to his chin; his expression washed out from practicing.

the door creaks open— “you’re still here?”

subaru plops to the floor, back against the wall. “it’s late, you know.” your arm stretches out to him, a bottle of water in your hand.

his fingers are cold to the touch, yet he smiles at you anyway. “thanks, what would i do without you~?”

you reciprocate his smile, sitting next to him on the floor. subaru looks over to you, his eyes made only for you; slowly, he links your arms and kisses the back of your palms, his lips lighter than a feather against your knuckles, “ahaha, i really mean it… what would i do without you, i mean.”

there are lines of yours that he knows by heart, there are colors of yours that have deeply stained him. simply being here with you was enough to appease his sorrows, your warmth envelops him enough to melt into you— in his world, it's only scattered with you, you, you.

“hey, akehoshi-kun— woah.” it was makoto who popped his head in the room in search of subaru, unknowingly becoming the antagonist in this secret romance novel.

all your thoughts for a second completely halted when you hear the other trickstar members' voice, and your body reacting swiftly. panicked, you swore you've never stood up so quickly in your life before.

“um, what are you both doing here this late?” makoto looks around the room, eyebrow raised a little.

you try to smile, “you know… practice! anyway, um, i got to go—” you paused, looking back at subaru; he was still sitting right next to where you were, his eyes pleading you to stay. god, you wish that it wasn't this difficult all the time. “sorry, but i really have to go!”

“geez, what was that?” makoto watches as you practically dash out the door, scratching his head in confusion.

subaru sighs as he jumps up, playing with an empty bottle in hand, “man, you should be grateful that you're gorgeous, ukki~”

ok fair warning i got a lil too excited about the concept of a dinopants giorno, then thought too hard about it and spent WAY too much time on this <33

and its basically all half ass ideas and designs im still not set 100% on...

BUT!!

Diego and Hot Pants in my rewrite where they travel together after the ringo roadagain fight onwards, and pick up Lucy as a traveling companion/guardians from the infiltration arc onwards. live at the end of SBR. Both make it out with injuries and for Diego this meant he had to take an early retirement from competitive horse riding. Man still loves his horses and treats them like his own family, but will no longer be able to participate in the thrill of the race.

Once Diegos up to snuff again, with some help from Hot Pants and Lucy's connections to her grandfather Steel's assets, they were able to keep Diego alive. Diego lives with draw backs that keep him more limited than he used to be.

Hot Pants and Diego who have both grown to care for on another and the companionship they grew together on their trip, stay by each others side. HP accompanies Dio to England to find his estranged father and get a bit of insight into.. well whatever he thought he was looking for.

HP and Diego then settle down and with some years they have their first child who HP names Giorno, and Diego gives them the last name Giovanna after his late mother.

Giorno is a mischievous girl, and even with HP's stricter nature, she was a daddys girl. Absolutely spoiled rotten by Diego. She's a bit of a princess and acts like a know it all (and both annoyingly enough and creepy enough she's basically always right on the money). She tends to think of herself first but has a good heart, i picture her kinda a mixed balance on being like p5 Giorno and Trish. She has two younger siblings (who names are tbd but I'm picking them to be 6 and 8 years younger than Gio) and they were also spoiled but a lot better temperament than Gio was as she spent nearly 6 years the only kid in the house Diego focused his fatherly affection onto. However her siblings followed her around like ducklings. They simply adored her.

and in turn Dio loves her parents terribly and has been close to her aunt Lucy since she was young herself.

After the death of her father and the development of her stand, Giorno has left home and hasnt spoken to her mother Hot Pants in years now. Her father Diego ended up passing away after complications with his old injuries finally caught up with him, and not long after she fully found herself in possession of a full stand ability she could control. (Named Born to be, Album by Melanie. Might change at a later date,, ways also considering Moondog the artist or Jig Saw Puzzle also by Melanie for names...)

Im still debating the exact ability for B2B, but i do picture it being a healer/mender/fixer kind of ability, and Giorno often feels a heavy weight that if they had just developed their stand just a bit sooner, they could have helped their dad. Iv been picturing her having a mending ability that's a bit like nut king call but with sewing where she can sew things together with a tough thread that can be pulled apart with force, but im still debating this and if i want more added to this or something totally different,,, still playin around with B2B's concept

She found herself unable to stay home where he father no longer would be there waiting for her. Her mother still had her siblings and all her friends around, surly the daughter who had the ability to save Hot Pant's husband but didnt wouldn't be missed?

Now Giorno acts like a total con man, they hustle shady goods, play shifty pop up card games on the street, their kinda just a rotten no good slum of the street now. just waiting for some big thing to fall in her lap and sent her on a quirky weird adventure that'll change the very core of who she is as a person and learning that maybe the things that happened to you, even bad are the very things that change and grow you and make you who you are.

Hi, big fan of the Weather Report gun post you made. If you're an anime only feel free to delete this, if not I've got a question; Do you think you can sniff out what kind of gun Blackmore used in the Green Tomb arc in SBR? Or is it just your generic revolver that doesn't have a set reference. Eager to see what you have to say. May this ask find you well

The Colt Model 1889

Key features:

The first detail to note about this gun is that it is one uniform color and appears to be silver rather than the darker material of the Bulldog. This single color may be an artistic choice so I will take it with a grain of salt; however, I will keep in mind the revolver's lighter frame and search primarily for guns with a nickel finish. I'm going to start my search around the late 19th century for the sake of accuracy and then branch out if I can't find anything within that timeframe.

The grip has a softer slope than some modern revolvers, leading me to believe that it was specifically modeled after an older gun.

We do not see this gun being loaded, nor do we see the ammunition, so it seems as though we mainly have to go off of the revolver's outward appearance.

My first thought was the "Smith & Wesson Model 10" due to the similarly shaped barrel and trigger guard, unfortunately it was quickly ruled out do to the date of it's manufacture being nearly 10 years post canon. I made attempts to trace this back further, however previous models from the same manufacturer do not match the profile of the revolver shown in the manga.

After this, I moved on to investigating the Colt Manufacturing Company series, beginning with the model 1877.

This gun came in three calibers, the Thunderer (.41 Long Colt) Lightning (.38 Long Colt) and, Rainmaker (.32 Long Colt) Due to the variety of these revolvers I thought that one may match the gun used in SBR, but after some research I came to the conclusion that this would not be possible due to one crucial missing factor. In a single panel of SBR chapter 37 we are able to see the left side of the revolver which shows a clear view of the cylinder release, which is not present in the M1877 or the M1878. This is because neither of these models use a swing out cylinder.

In 1889 Colt became the first manufacturer to successfully release a revolver with this specific feature, making this model the best possible match for your question.

The Colt model 1889 was released commercially in the same year of it's initial manufacturing. Due to U.S. Navy requirements, the cylinder rotated counter clockwise in this model, causing it to occasionally slip out of alignment. The swing out cylinder was popularized for its usefulness as it provided a quick and easy means to load the firearm.

I hope this answered your question! Unfortunately there are some minor discrepancies between the 1889 and the gun shown in the manga, but this could easily be chalked up to an artistic decision due to the vast majority of features matching up between the two revolvers.

so most of the AU has been primarily set on twitter (my twt RP accounts are SCARY_MONSTERZ (diego & dio) / DlRTY_DEEDS (valentine) / TOTHESKIIES (shikari, they're an OC)!!), but their accounts have been recently transferred here to set up a sort of a parallel timeline of events!! but ALL information here rings true for BOTH timelines.

i'm writing from late-SBR into post-canon on tumblr, but obviously, if anyone wants to write pre-SBR / early/mid-SBR, i'm always down lol.

anyway actual au info (please note there will be some spoilers!!! also under readmore bcuz this is wordy. i'll be speaking exclusively for the main cast as well as the characters i personally write here.)

ITS SET (mostly) POST-CANON WHERE EVERYONE LIVES-- yes, EVERYONE. none of the main OR side cast have died, however some have retained injuries that still very much effect them in post-canon.

Diego Brando (the original) was the winner of the Steel Ball Run race, and has obtained Manhattan Island as its mayor. consider him the sort of 'main character', as i mostly wrote this AU based HEAVILY around Diego's antics-- he was my first SBR muse!

Valentine is still President, and his wife, Scarlet, has a Stand in this AU. Her Stand is known as Love At First Feel, named after an AC/DC song. her Stand ability allows her intangability, which essentially grants her invulnerability to many attacks (including D4C & The World to an extent! however, she's very unsure how to use it at the moment; its primarily used for its defensive capability).

Also... Lucy Steel has a Stand. the exact details are a little "???" to me atm, but another Lucy writer on Twitter had her Stand basically allow her to turn her own body fluids into objects (somewhat seen in canon iirc, also forgot the handle of said Lucy</3). but the Lucy Steel in this AU, can see and interact with Stands

Johnny, Gyro, H.P, & Diego are friends!!! they were initially forced to work together after the train almost killed Diego, & they worked as a team to attempt to kill Valentine. however, immediately after the race ended, Johnny, Gyro, and H.P returned to Italy. Diego chose not to join them due to his injuries, fearing he may not survive the journey bcuz of them.

Alternate world Diego (known exclusively as Dio in this AU) is also still here. He was tasked with securing the Holy Corpse, but got ahead of himself and chose to attack Johnny whilst they were nearing the end of the race. he ended up losing his leg during this battle (as seen in canon!), and technically didn't finish first as he never crossed the finish line, choosing to take a different route to ensure the Corpse was secured.

as for where Dio's story goes after that, he does continue to work with Valentine for a short while, before he gets written off when Diego is offered his placement as Mayor. said Mayorship is only offered bcuz Valentine very much wants Dio & Diego to try and kill eachother, so neither of them will get in his way again.

and of course, at first, Dio & Diego were very much enemies. but as written on twitter, Dio eventually becomes one of the guardsmen for Diego, & works as a sort of personal hitman. he also takes over as Mayor whenever Diego is unavailable, as most won't know their visual differences.

also my SBR OC does play a role within the early-story & post-canon; Shikari is Valentine's Head of Defense. they are beneath Blackmore- as Blackmore is Valentine's second in command- but they act as a sort of standby whenever Blackmore goes down.

whilst Shikari is indifferent to Diego, they do have a strange fondness for Dio. its thought they sympathise for him; after he recovered from his leg injury & did some work for Valentine before he was fired, they worked together extensively. he was mostly placed with them due to Shikari's very reserved nature & patience.

also Shikari is very aware that Valentine views them as disposable. but due to the nature of their Stand, Take To The Skies, which is an object based stand taking the form of a cape, it does allow D4C to quickly 'generate' another Valentine from them in emergencies.

Additionally, Valentine is EXTREMELY cunning and evil in this AU. moreso than canon. with the Holy Corpse secured, he very much views other human life as entirely disposable, even those who work closely to him. he is REAL fucked up.

I follow you on Twitter so I’m sure I remember you saying this (apologies for this btw), but I remember you saying something like you’ve heard from an animator that the Stone Ocean anime wouldn’t be a thing at all if Netflix hadn’t have bought the distribution rights (as much as everyone hates batch releases). That, and that a Steel Ball Run anime is very unlikely by DavidPro. It doesn’t surprise me if its true, since a secondary team was working on it this time and it shows, they outsourced animation from fanartists and barely any animation corrections were made for the blu-ray releases. It just feels like they don’t care about Jojo these days.

Omg I'm sorry I thought I answered this! Yeah it really bugs me as well :\\ I'm glad we got a stone ocean anime and in all honesty it was really good (kudos to everyone who worked on that), but I'm still sad it didn't get the hype it deserved. Part 5 got the golden treatment (no pun intended) out of all of them and I remembered the weekly hype clearly!!it was REALLY FUN!! I wished we could have this for Jolyne bc she is my favourite jojo but, oh well <\\3

Also the person I got that information from also said back the that this was mainly due to the jojo anime not earning as much as we think. I think it's was of those cases where the anime is really popular but the studio doesn't earn much anymore(?) (at least that's what I remember, we haven't really talked in years so my memory is foggy)

I'm hoping at least one day another passionate studio would pick up the SBR universe. Jojo fans waited like 20 years for the anime! It's never too late to dream big!!

[[ it does depend on whether or not he likes you, in all honesty.

in general, he's very observant of other people to suss them out, but doesn't stray away from interjecting his own thoughts & opinions when he feels its important.

he likes to be the centre of attention, but much of his personality is highly performative when in the public eye and/or in groups (especially with his fans and journalists), and has a tendency to be rather grandiose to impress people. but that's just the nature of his work and being a public figure. you kind of have to play up the confidence (take the part of early SBR where he was discussing, or rather demanding Manhattan Island with Valentine as a great example of this; its performative, he's doing it to ensure Valentine is listening, even if Valentine is actively undermining him during the discussion. he's playing a part to ensure eyes are on him).

on the flipside. one on one, he's quite understated and generally very reserved; extremely dry, but usually rather quiet in comparison to his public persona. not friendly, by any stretch of the imagination, but generally far more honest & straight to the point.

he's quite complex, and he does have a tendency to make himself unapproachable that's for sure, lol

⌛️ : How often does your muse think about death? Do they think about it at all?

[[ i like to think death looms over diego like a bad omen a lot of the time; almost everyone he has been close to has died (his mother, his late wife-- and you could even make the argument for nicholas, too). its part of the reason why he tends to be reluctant to maintain very many close relationships.

it follows him, and in this au, he is alive post-SBR, but the reality is he isn't necessarily better off because he is alive. its a miracle that he is, but his injury has been absolutely detrimental to his general health and his life. sure, diego is alive, he attained his goals, he has enough money for several lifetimes, he is part of the top one percent and he now has the political leverage that he wanted.

but because of his injury, its not likely diego will see much of the rest of his life, anyway-- and if he does, his existence will be painful. and not only that, his achievements have not fixed the problems he has. it won't bring anyone back. so, he won, but at what cost, is the ultimate question-- and it's something he dwells on very often.

🔗 : What are your muse’s standards for meaningful relationships? How quickly do they form relationships like these?

[[ extremely high. you have to be patient with him; he's inherently distrustful, and in fact, you may not be able to trust diego as much as you think. he has a tendency to undercut and fuck people over, if they have something he wants.

you have to prove that you're an honest and loyal person, above all else- and that takes a lot of time. he will ensure all suspicion is levelled out before he trusts you, but he is a very good reader of character. if you're openly compassionate and honest, chances are, he will give you more benefit of the doubt than others (an example of this is probably Lucy-- i like to think that Diego thinks a lot of her, primarily because he empathises with her trauma from the race, but also because of her kind nature despite everything.).

🐜 : How does your muse feel about animal lives? Do they treat them the same way they’d treat a person, or do they feel they’re inferior?

[[ diego likes animals more than people! i like to think he talks to Silver Bullet like he's a person sometimes, and has a tendency to do so with a lot of animals. outside of horses, he's very much a cat person, but- unlike the original Dio- he likes dogs, too. he just finds cats to be the better pet.

additionally, i think his stand tends to make him feel more drawn to animals. Scary Monsters allows him to have more of a 'connection' with them once they're infected with it. i think he also finds animals to be more honest, even if they can't directly communicate with him; a person can lie, but animals aren't dishonest about how they're feeling or what they want, so.

Being in the race together had really made Johnny and Y/N bond. In fact, both of them were quite head over heels for each other! Still, he seemed grumpy because of how every time they camped, Y/N started sketching him. He thought he was so ugly after all...And today, he was finally going to talk about it with them.

"Alright Y/N. I gotta ask, why do you keep insisting on drawing me?" Johnny said raising an eyebrow "Are you laughing at me?Because it's not really funny" he was a self conscious person after all.

"Not at all!" They said, shaking their head. In fact, they thought he was extremely handsome...and had found themselves falling for him, hard. But of course they couldn't say that right now "You see, you are a great reference!" Which was also true.

Risotto Nero: Bleeding Me and Master of Puppets

Both of these seem like obvious choices but bear with me. So we have ‘Bleeding Me’ because of the (sometimes) high amounts of iron in blood, his stand controls that iron to make weapons, sharp weapons cut and make you bleed so on and so forth...This also has to do with the fight with Doppio/Epitaph where Ris turns his blood yellow. He’s probably bled a lot too: physically and emotionally. The bassline in the beginning of the song is mellow and slow, just like Risotto’s chill and stoic nature. In fact, the song stays at a slow tempo the whole time while still having metal guitar/vocals/drums/bass. Lyric: “Can’t stop to save my soul/I take the leash that’s leading me/I’m bleeding me, I can’t take it”

Risotto Nero is the capo for La Squadra Esecuzioni; some argue that he was a better capo than Bruno (I’m neutral on that).Point is, he was a nice leader to a bunch of assassins, whom he all cared about. He was a 6′5″, all black wearing knife man with red and black eyes. So it makes sense that he would be a “Master of Puppets”, he has so much domineering energy. The ‘puppets’ could be Diavolo, La Squadra, Passione, or you, if you’re into that. The version of the song from the album ‘S&M’ has a LOT more bark and bite to it, but the version from the album ‘Master of Puppets’ works too. The chorus is slightly better, it’s timeless. Lyric: “Master of Puppets, I’m pulling your strings/Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams/Blinded by me, you can’t see a thing/Just call my name ‘cause I’ll hear you scream”.

Prosciutto: Until it Sleeps

First off, The Grateful Dead aged people up until they died, which is essentially killing someone “until it sleeps”. The whole song emphasizes something becoming less of something else-- less pain, less dirt, less guilt, less time being “awake”. This is just like how your body temperature slowly but surely rises While he *does* kill people in cold blood, you could say that he felt some remorse leaving Pesci behind as he died- or began to “sleep”. The whole sound of the song (the version from the album Load) is slow, mellow, and quiet for the most part, which fits Prosciutto as an assassin as well as his stand’s ability. Lyric: “I’ll tear me open, make you gone/No more can you hurt anyone/And the fear still shakes me/So hold me until it sleeps”

Hayato Kawajiri: The House That Jack Built

Oh my sweet child. I felt for him the most during the Bites the Dust part and when Kira became the Kawajiri family homewrecker. Seriously though, Kira ruins his life over and over again to the point where he tries to k--l himself just to stop everyone from dying. As an INTP, he was observant to, and tortured by what was going on instead of just being a normal child. The “house”, in this case, can very much be seen as Kosaku/Kira’s house and Hayato being trapped in it (you could say this makes Kira “Jack” too). The song itself is about a 3.5 out of 5, but several parts of it sounds very eerie and ominous, like that anxious pit in your stomach. The song’s tempo included. The song is set up so that it feels like the reader is progressing through the “house”, and disappears at the end. All of which is comparable to Kira and Hayato’s arc. Lyric: “Open my eyes, just to have them close again/Well on my way, but on my way to where I’ve been/It swallows me as it takes me in its fog/I twist away as I give this world a nod”

Johnny Joestar- Turn The Page

The initial reason I chose this song for him was because the guitar in this song has a country twang to it, which obviously goes along well with SBR. The vocals also sound a little bit country. I initially chose this song for Gyro, but examining the lyrics, it is more fit for Johnny. But if you want to associate this song with Gyro, feel free to. I really like him too! The song has an easygoing tempo (like 75 BPM), but is still aggressive, like the long, grueling journey of both his story and the race. Like, you can feel the pain. The song happens to progress the reader through what feels like this dusty American road to home, possibly? I specifically say American because the song starts with “On a long and lonesome highway/East of Omaha”. But they never get there, as at the end, the song has the lyrics “There I go” twice. The main chorus repeats at the end, beginning with the lyrics “Here I am/On the road again”. These both imply that the listener is stuck in a cycle of their journey, either physically still travelling or memories are stuck in their head. This is also emphasized sound-wise when the tempo slows down, and the ending beat where everything just drops down. Johnny will never forget the events of SBR, and you bet it haunts him at night for sad reasons I don’t wanna say. Yet he has to move on with his life (and does eventually), hence the name of the song to begin with, Turn the Page. He probably feels responsible for some of it, like when Funny Valentine offered him The Choice™. This comes out in the lyric “You pretend it doesn’t bother you/But you just want to explode”. Likewise, this applies to the foes he encountered during the race that really pushed his buttons. Dio included. Johnny was under a lot of pressure especially during those last couple chapters, and the moments when Gyro wasn’t by his side (like the Sandman fight). Whether or not he knows it, his every move is being watched; he is the star of the show, and we were all waiting patiently to see if he messes up or not. “There I am/Up on the stage/Here I go/Playin’ star again”. Stars are one of the things we associate with Johnny, and another one of those stars is BEING a star. Almost all of the song applies to him, but I feel these lyrics apply to Johnny the most. Lyric: But your thoughts will soon be wandering/The way they always do/When you're ridin' sixteen hours/And there's nothin' much to do/And you don't feel much like ridin'/You just wish the trip was through”

Jotaro Kujo- The Unforgiven

Regardless of parts 4,5, and 6, we all remember Jotaro as the asshole who shouts at women. When we first met him, we probably didn’t like him that much. Over time he DOES grow and change as a person, but he has a trail of his past mistakes behind him. DIO and his henchmen want him dead. His wife and daughter hate his guts. And Jotaro won’t tell you that it hurts him, because he’s not good at expressing his feelings properly. Nor will he tell you that he cares. At age 17, showing feelings shows weakness for a delinquent like him. At 28, he’ll slowly open up to people he cares about. At 42, it’s too late to show affection. This goes along with the lyrics: “They dedicate their lives/To running all of his/He tries to please them all/This bitter man he is”. I chose this song for him specifically because of how the title goes along with Jolyne’s hateful feelings toward him in Stone Ocean. He was “unforgiven” by her for most of that part, and it’s unsure whether or not she fully forgave him before the ending events of Stone Ocean. We’re not even sure if he fully forgives himself for everything that happened, especially in Part 3. This is conveyed in the chorus: “What I’ve felt/What I’ve known/Never shined through in what I’ve shown/Never free/Never me/So I dub thee Unforgiven”. We know that the events of SDC terrorize him, at times with visions and nightmares. Jotaro is an angry and hateful person, so it’s not surprising he would hate himself for these things. This is especially shown in the repetition of “never”. The song is 71 BPM, and personally, I think it sounds like someone trekking tiredly on a lonely path. Jotaro is definitely tired after everything, and probably tired in general. The guitar makes the song sound a bit like a ballad. In a way, it sounds like the song goes through his life as “The Unforgiven”. The song says “young boy” in the beginning, and ends with “old man”, too. Lyrics: He’s battled constantly/This fight he cannot win/A tired man they see no longer cares/The old man then prepares/To die regretfully/That old man there is me”

Kozakura Tada is Suzume’s ditzy but well meaning best friend. The two grew up together as neighbors- but to them they’re practically sisters. Kozakura wasn’t much to write home about compared to her more delinquent best friend. But Kozakura was anything but a coward- and whatever antiques Suzume got up to, Kozakura was that ride or die that she too would participate regardless of the legality of the situation. The girl has a very frantic mind, always pulling her in different directions and requiring a lot of energy from her. This need to multitask and the inability to so effectively resulted in her manifesting her stand for the first time as child. Wanted to play with Suzume but needed to do homework at the same time? Her stand was the solution. With it’s ability to clone a person for a short amount of time, Kozakura could clone herself or others at will, which made it for excellent decoys for when the young girl wanted to run off and play with her friends, or later in life where she’d use the clone as a decoy to sneak out late in high school.

Murasaki Shimabukuro grew up in a small village on a small island off the coast of Japan. She grew up on a farm most notable for breeding horses called the Miyako. Being quite amicable and having a calming aura about her, many of the horses on her family’s farm seemed to enjoy Murasaki’s presence. The patriarch of the Shimabukuro family was rather fond of his only daughter, and was a lot more lenient on her than he was with his three elder sons. Having great interest in horses, Murasaki managed to convince her dad to teach her the art of horse riding. Starting from age nine the young girl would practice every day and became quite good at riding. However when Murasaki showed interest in riding horses professionally, her father laughed. What he thought was just a young girl’s hobby turned out to be Murasaki’s passion. However Murasaki never gave up that dream of becoming a professional jockey. When the young woman turned twenty five, news reached the coasts of Japan that a large horse race was to be held in North America called the ‘Steel Ball Run’. Determined to ride among other elites, Murasaki disguised herself as her youngest brother Masato. Taking the horse she grew up with, a Miyako named Arabella, Murasaki arrived on the coasts of California and made her way to San Diego to participate in the race.

Stray A was the alias of a young Aria Popenhagen, an English noblewoman who rode horses recreationally among many other activities in her day-to-day life. While initially disinterested in the idea of long-distance horse racing, she was turned to the idea by her Mother, a widow who was passionate about horse racing but far too old to compete. Woman were barred from participating in official races and events- something her mother had always despised. She wanted nothing more than to prove that the art of horse riding- that being a professional Jockey wasn’t just a men’s sport. Her mother was ahead of her time if anything, a progressive who had fought the rights of women for the sake of her daughter. Although at the time her husband had written her calls for equality something along the lines of hysterical ramblings, she nonetheless benefited from her husband’s status as a wealthy aristocrat, which she inherited when her husband passed from an unknown illness. Lady Popenhagen has always taught the young Aria to never settle for less, to take advantage of anything and everything if it meant getting to the top. And while Aria was content living off the vast wealth her father had left to them, the dream of her mother was something she didn’t want to abandon. So for the sake of her mother, the young woman entered the race under the alias of Stray A, a young man from Britain.

Sugako Hato is a twenty-one year old college student studying the human psyche. While initially a cheerful and amicable girl to be around, Sugako is actually quite reclusive and calculating. Her specific study is the effects of human emotions and how it affects the psyche. What happens when one suppressed their emotions? What are the effects of apathy. Her stand, Strange Love, tends to directly help her in her studies by doing just that. She’s able to suppress people’s abilities to express emotions. Her research, while having nothing to do with the Locacaca Fruit, came into contact with said fruit after witnessing the affects of the fruit first hand. While the concept of the fruit was interesting, she was more-so interested in the psychological affects of knowing part of one’s body is being turned to stone to restore another. So I watch this Jojo vid by Cosmonaut because a) I love JOJO & b) he can be laughably stupid. And you know what? It's a laughably stupid video but not without good points. Same time I'm not giving credit for making simple-minded agreeable takes which is the best this video has. It’s like

I can see where part 3 has its roughness, looking back it can be stale in setting the groundwork for the stories. But it's pretty unfair to say all of part 3 amounted to either the stoic badass or the funny coward; like me saying all DBZ amounts to are sidekicks & Goku reskins. Like I don't know how you can say static characters can work yet boil Polnareff, Fugo, my boy Narancia down to basic archetypes like the “Funny coward” or the “Cool badass”? It was when this guy talked about part 5 was where most of his points got insultingly disingenuous. This dude becomes the legit “Part 5 sucks“ stereotype.

"Fugo getting kicked out the story is stupid." Yeah, if you ignore who Fugo is, why he wouldn't join, & why Araki wouldn't bring him back. That'd probably would be actually complicated for ya Marcus.

"Giorno has little to no character" Yeah, because if he ain't like Luke Skywalker or the boisterous cape heroes, he couldn't possibly have any traits beyond stoicism. Could never appear pragmatic & ruthless to you because the obvious characteristics aren't sucking you off from the screen.

"Diavolo comes in so late in the story" He appears halfway in like Kira cuz why the fuck would Diavolo need to be revealed off the bat? It's called building it up, ya fucknut, & you really missed the point of Diavolo if you're bitching about how far his debut is. I don't know how any of Diavolo's debut & the previous mentions of him flew past you beyond you're incapable of processing legit complexity unless it's immediately coming at you with anything & everything off the bat anyways.

I can see why part 5's final battle didn't work for you when part 3 apparently did, it's because it feels so comfortably basic for you. Circumstances my ass, you couldn't give a shit & I don't think you ever wanted to with this series unless it spoonfed you.

I love part 4, it is up there with part 7 as a favorite, hell I don't like part 2 that much myself nowadays but I've come to appreciate the intricacies of part 5 because unlike you, I've come to give more of a shit about it. I looked into what made part 5 function and I can clearly see why people who loved part five do.

I loathe everyone who thinks the Watchmen HBO series is a masterpiece, my mother included, but that does never meant my investment in the original dipped because of it. This rhetoric has become a pet peeve of mine. Because it’s never that the fans don’t explain why the show or game is great, it’s apparently a turn off because the fans are passionately persistent about them to the point of gag annoyance. I can rarely get how the fandom can ruin shit unless I've dive headfirst into all the bullshit myself like with Steven Universe, but even then I still like SU in spite of the fandom's lunacy. You can not like something, but have a backbone, you paper sandwich pussy. I get that it can be annoying with JOJO fans & posers going on & on about it now that it reached the mainstream, but that has never diluted the love & thoughts I had with this series, and I became a fan 4 years ago. I didn't grow up with JOJO, but I still love it despite it all.

I'm not "upset" cuz he doesn't like JOJO or that he think it's imperfect, I'm "upset" cuz this video tells me he never really gave a shit. And really, I wouldn't want him anymore to if he thought like this towards it. If he read SBR, he'd probably still bitch his face off. Again, I figured this vid would be laughably stupid, but it really just says to me that Marcus is as much a nerd as he sometimes is a poser. He can dislike it, I won't stop him, doesn't mean he isn't full of shit.

OH YEA SORRY FOR TAKING TOO LONG TO ANSWER THIS BUT HERE my baby boy shou hes the whiteboy. i got him arouuuuundd like april 2019..? yea! hes a burman and thru growing up hes gotten fluffier, hes ur stereotypical lazy cat and he sleeps in one spot for like days its crazy!! sometimes he'll try to eat lucys food like she'll eat his and thats why i have to watch them during their meals. Yknow like my dog georgie he was originally gonna go to my grandma but when dad bought him home for the first time i knew i wanted to keep him so we did. He was a gift from my aunt and from the photos mama showed me i thought he was gonna be a ginger cat so thats why i came up with shou! like from mp100, but then that cat got given away and we were left with widdle whiteboy <3 dont get me wrong i love him special place in my hear for being my first cat like georgie being my first pet.

AND LUCY we actually got her last month!! remember it vividly we were watching invincible and my friend came out of nowhere and gave her to us bc i forgot to check my inbox to see she was coming over hkdssddkhmd. and unlike shou and georgie we got a specific birthdate for her (feb 23rd!!). My friend told my like late january her cat was pregnant and was planning to give the kittens away, and asked if id be interested bc i frequently talk about taking care of shou so i asked my parents and with some begging they agreed!! shes the complete opposite of shou as in shes fucking speedy and always bites and thinks u wanna play, but shes slowly becoming more and more like him.... shes also surprisingly territorial as when my dog gets near her her back arches and she hisses, which is to be expected with dogs but when we took care of two kittens (gappy and daiya) in the meanwhile she also didnt like them. which was weird bc she seemed to get along w her litter and the other cats at my friends house and id assume shed recognize my friends scent from them but oh well!! its also obvious that her namesake is lucy steel from sbr
