Hey Clyde can you elaborate on the “No because…Ted was so deeply traumatized” GIF please?

Of course!

Obviously that's Tomlinfonda's post/argument, so I can only speak to my own interpretation of things, but basically it's acknowledging the tragic implications of our finale. Ted goes back to his son, but far more than that he isolates himself from everything and everyone else. It's all well and good to make headcanoned claims about his life in Kansas --"He's Ted Lasso. Of course he'll make a ton of new friends!" -- but based on what we're shown on screen, AKA the canon, Ted has rejected everything but his role as Henry's father.

He is no longer a premiere league coach, he's a kid's league coach for Henry.

He's no longer keeping some distance from Michelle post-divorce/post-dating Jacob for his own comfort and mental health, he's closely co-parenting with her for Henry.

He's not BFFs with Beard anymore, attending pivotal moments like his wedding, he's spending quality time with Henry.

He's no longer a part of the Richmond community or the Kansas community (we don't see Ted happily chatting with some extra at the game, an easy way to show that he's forming new bonds, nor has the series introduced Kansas friends he's still in contact with) he's a part of the Being Henry's Dad community.

I'm going to talk about this a lot more in the giant-ass meta I'm working on, but the tl;dr is that no one (that I've come across) is upset that Ted went back to Henry, only that the show implied that he gave up EVERYTHING ELSE to do that. Instead of having Henry come to London, or doing the work to make Kansas feel like a place Ted wants to be in for reasons other than this being where Henry currently lives, everything we get implies isolation and discomfort. No one is there to greet Ted at the airport (a sharp contrast to Rebecca tearfully seeing him off, previously begging him to stay). Michelle's house is a dull, sad-looking color pallet compared to the vibrancy of Richmond. She keeps literal distance from Ted, remaining in the doorway while Henry runs to his side and watching him walk in with arms crossed. We know he's not comfortable with her dating Jacob (quite understandably). Ted is not shown to attend ANY of the pivotal moments of his found family: wedding, book signing, giant get-together, despite having the time and financial means to do so. There are no more Diamond Dogs. There's no scene of him baking. No details to remind us of why he once loved his home state, like sunflowers and BBQ sauce. Ted can no longer challenge himself with the complexities coaching a premier team, despite having just come off of a brilliant season that involved re-inventing a whole new strategy. He's back to giving Season One advice of "Be a goldfish" - AKA just ignore what's bothering you, work to literally forget it, rather than engage with it as a means of self-improvement. It's a fine bit of advice for a missed goal, but in the context of his final line of the show? It reinforces the reading that Ted has regressed. Significantly.

"That's not true, Clyde, he's stopped running away from Henry now!" Ehhh has he? I mean yes, he's literally, physically there, but how healthy is that going to be for either of them in the long run if Ted hasn't addressed the root of his anxieties and, as Tomlinfonda's post says, has "killed every part of himself" that's not fatherhood? Ted was happy in London, thriving, right up until his mom unexpectedly arrived and gave him a massive guilt-trip about long-distance parenting. After three seasons of promoting, fighting for, and fully embracing non-traditional relationships, the series end with Ted panicking, going back to where he's "supposed" to be so that he can be the Mid-Western Nuclear Family Father™ that his mother expects. Why? Because Ted lost his own father and he's terrified of doing the same thing to Henry. I've even seen fans talking about how Ted has successfully broken a "cycle" by going home, but what the show and those fans both fail to realize is that living in another country and dying by suicide are not the same thing. Ted never "abandoned" Henry and we sure as hell can't equate him taking a long-distance job/moving permanently to somewhere he loves with his own father's death. If anything, this ending feels like the OPPOSITE of breaking that cycle to me. Moving between parents in two different countries, or moving permanently to London might hold a number of challenges for Henry (even though this is a show where characters frequently make huge life changes without any of the realistic consequences and I don't understand why these challenges are suddenly relevant now... ) but is that really worse than growing up with a father who, based on these last ten minutes, does not come across as happy to me? Who's presented as comparatively isolated? Who isn't shown engaging with anything that's not related to his son? Who may be back here in part due to outside pressure and his own, panicked assumptions? Who, according to what's shown on screen (remember, everything else is a heacanon) he has no identity now outside of his role as a father? I wish someone had ASKED Henry what he wants because despite the clear excitement about Ted coming home, this is a kid who is emotionally intelligent enough to realize what's been making his dad happy. No, you can't put that kind of decision-making pressure on a real child, but a fictional one in a trope-heavy show? Let Henry decide to move/continue long distance because more than wanting his dad beside him 24/7, he wants his dad to be happy.

Because... seriously. If we're worried about Ted potentially repeating the cycle of suicide, I'd say removing him from the support system he's slowly built over three years, denying him major connections with his friends, removing the intellectual challenges he loved, plopping him back in a state he's outgrown, keeping him close to an ex-wife and former marriage counselor now dating said ex-wife and a mother he's harboring a lot of anger towards, plus leaving us on the implication that he's backsliding by trying to ignore his problems instead of tackling them because, you know, he hasn't seen his therapist in months and all the people who know him well enough to challenge him are an ocean away... that's all a bit more concerning than an ending that says, "Ted needs to figure out how to parent Henry from London long-term" or "Ted needs to figure out how to integrate Henry and Michelle into his London life."

Parts of the fandom: Thank god Ted went back to Henry :) All he needs is his son :) He's improved so much in his mental health :) I'm so proud of him :)

Me: I've NEVER been more worried about Ted than I am now :/

It's an ending that says your child is the only thing that matters. Your friends, your career, your hobbies, what you need for your mental health... give all of it up despite, as the rest of the show argues, the fact that you don't have to. The problem is 100000% NOT that Ted ends the series with Henry. I wanted and fully expected them to reunite. But Ted reunites in a way that has him rejecting everything about himself that doesn't directly support his son, all of which is based off of -- imo highly inaccurate -- anxieties about what a "real" father looks like and the presumed fragility of kids. Ted rejects three years of growth and family because he fears that not doing everything that's easiest for Henry -- be there 24/7, don't make him move, don't complicate things with his mom, etc. -- will somehow make him feel the same way Ted feels after the death of his father. In reality, these situations are nothing alike, Ted is feeding the very anxieties he's been working to overcome, Henry has not displayed any significant difficulties with an unconventional family unit, and a happy, supported Ted would ALWAYS be a better father to Henry than one who feels trapped and isolated. The show could have easily given us a reunion while allowing Ted to keep all that he's built -- Rebecca lays out how that can happen right on screen! -- and instead the show chose to have Ted sacrifice everything but Henry when it's oh so clear he never had to.

Which yeah, feels tragic to me. Or at the very least incredibly bittersweet, with a huge emphasis on the bitter. There's nothing wrong with those endings, but it's not a conclusion that I think fit Ted Lasso's genre, or served the rest of the series well.

how do ya think the octonauts crew would deal with being sleep deprived (mainly barnacles 😳) ? i was rewatching the show recently and there’s quite a few moments where they’re woken up in the middle of the night to help creatures so it just got me thinking :O

I feel like Barnacles has absolutely fallen asleep at the wheel once, which was followed by everyone yelling at him until he went to sleep. They all knew he was tired, they could tell, but he insisted he was fine (as he does), and he was not (as he never is).

Tweak is the most fussy about making sure he goes to sleep. Yes, she knows she's a hypocrite. Sometimes if neither of them can sleep for whatever reason, Barnacles comes down to the launch bay, or they both go up to the gamepod, and they play games until they pass out. Tweak also takes melatonin to help her sleep, but she takes it at a specific time, so if she misses that designated time because they're on a mission she just doesn't take them. Cue her playing video games or working on the GUPs until 4am.

Pirates are made for nighttime adventures—or at least that's what Kwazii thinks, so he'll intentionally stay awake long after he starts getting tired. Barnacles and Tweak have caught him doing this several times, and usually invite him to join their games. He's always the first to pass out when this happens. Kwazii also has a habit of sneaking out to go on "monster hunts" if no one else is awake, and similar to Barnacles I feel like he's definitely fallen asleep at the wheel doing this, in the middle of nowhere, freaking everyone out when they wake up and he's missing.

Shout out to Dashi for being the only Octonaut with a relatively healthy sleep schedule. However, Shellington loves to knock on her door just to wake her up and talk whenever he can't sleep. Peso does it too, but only if she's already awake. If he wakes her up he'll feel bad and go back to bed. It's actually hard for her to fall asleep (it takes a while), she's just good at managing it: she takes melatonin, she plays music/white noise because she can't sleep without it, she cleans and makes her bed, she has a whole ritual. She NEEDS this ritual or else she simply will not sleep. The only exception is if she's been awake for 24+ hours already and she's exhausted.

Shellington falls asleep VERY easily. Like, impressively easily—but he also wakes up very easily. He needs to turn his lab into a sensory deprivation room just to ensure he stays asleep. If he still can't sleep, the Vegimals will climb into bed with him and curl up like cats. It's very effective. If, for some reason, he doesn't want to sleep, he will go down to the launch bay or gamepod to join Barnacles and Tweak, if they're there. He's known about them doing that together since he joined the crew, and if he's bored at 2am he may just take advantage of it. One time, he and Kwazii BOTH joined them, and none of them ended up sleeping at all.

Peso preaches to the others about how important sleep is for your health, but he is more than willing to stay awake for a week straight if he's looking after a patient. He has done so at least a few times. However, Barnacles really doesn't like when Peso doesn't sleep (it's the Dad Instincts™), so he will offer to stay up for him. Usually it works, or so he thinks. Peso has a monitor in the sick bay connected to the screen in his room, it tells him his patients heart rate, blood pressure, other stats, etc. and he'll often stay awake, just... staring at it. Kwazii knows he does this, and will check in on him right before he sneaks out. He hasn't ratted him out yet, but he says he will if he doesn't go to bed (he won't really, but Peso doesn't know that).

Inkling is pretty much nocturnal. He spends so many hours sleeping in his chair during the day, that he's not at all tired when night finally comes around. On the bright side, he does enjoy the dark (being a creature whose supposed to be from the midnight zone and all that), and it's good to have at least one person awake to keep an eye on the ship, or listen for someone who needs help knocking on the door. If they're not with Shellington, the Vegimals like to keep Inkling company. They play board games and watch movies in the library, or sometimes Inkling will read them stories. He also likes to call Min. Depending on where they are in the world, it might still be daytime for her. If not, he leaves her a video message of himself just talking about stuff, or the Vegimals being silly.

Recently bought a new tarot deck and keep thinking of the old post about saeyoung with a witchy MC. the deck is cat themed. It's funny to image Saeyoung wary and maybe a little spooked by Witchy Stuff(tm) but also... he canonically cannot resist a cat picture. I show him The Emperor. it's a big fluffy white cat. I show him The Lovers. "that's us" I tell him.

Saeyoung is a certified Good Catholic Boy™. He was raised in that cathedral and found security in God. His faith is personal. He keeps that to himself because he hasn't had time to settle into church each week nor has he had time to share his faith with anyone since he has to stay hidden. The only time he was able to go to church every week was when he was a child, and when he spent time abroad in America since it wasn't hard to find a Catholic church.

He enjoyed that. But, over time, he started to value his relationship with God in a more private way. So, he practices at home and only goes to church on holidays if he can. He keeps to himself unless he needs to be in a church to feel peace. There are only so many times when he does that, though.

Some people think he would be wary of dating an MC outside his religion, but that will never be the case. You can be religious, atheist, or agnostic and Saeyoung will love and support you all the same. He is respectful and a good boy, so never think for a second that he will not love you for what you find comfort in.

Faith, after all, is about finding peace and comfort in something that is higher than yourself, be it gods, goddesses, or nature itself. He might have a few misconceptions about your faith or not even have a clue if he hasn't heard of it before, but his knowledge is rooted in the Abrahamic religions. So, he's familiar with those first and foremost, but give him some time, and he'll learn as much as he can about what makes you comfortable in your faith, or the lack therefore.

Saeyoung hasn't had to research much about witchcraft before. His mind is likely rooted in Halloween metaphors and misconceptions in the Catholic church about what it means to practice witchcraft. He's a little clueless and wary, but not disrespectful. He has a lot of tough questions you might not know the answers to, but that's from a place where Saeyoung devours information. You know how he is. He wants to learn everything.

He may be skeptical about tarot, in particular, but he'll warm up once he has a better understanding of the craft. It's not fear in his eyes, he has no room to fear things he doesn't understand. If he feared things, he would never be able to learn. His God would want him to question things and learn to be a better man by relating to and understanding others, even if they're different from him. I think he would settle into an area that's healthy, where he supports you and your feelings with wide smiles and beckoning arms.

Do you need something for your altar, if you have one? Do you want more crystals? Is there anything he can get you to cleanse your area? Do you want candles? What can he do to help you feel at peace with your faith in the same way you're always considerate of his faith? The fact alone that you can relax around each other with that has got to be comfortable. You both talk a lot about your overlap in what your practice is like, and where it differs.

Don't think for a second once he's more comfortable that he won't ask you for a tarot reading. He will. He wants to learn, and he trusts you.

But, you're right, he would gush over the cats. Cats help everything and he wants to understand the artist's thought process in trying to fit the theme of the deck with different cats. Watch out, though, he will ask you to recreate the cat art if it's feasible. What can I say? He is nothing if not consistent when it comes to his love of felines.

More silly little ideas for Tang Xuan.

Tang Xuan likes to hang around (quite literally) you'll often find him in some high up place you didn't even think anyone could fit in let alone even climb up there. He also just hangs off of places, railings, the ceilings, whatever he can hang off of he will.

Tang Xuan is filled with energy because of this he always has to be moving in some way, he cannot sit still because he'll just start fiddling with his braid or start moving around to get comfortable. But he's also super fast, can stay up longer than most, and his heart beat is naturally faster as well. He also has to eat a lot more to keep up a healthy weight.

He's also very competent and clever especially in serious situations or on his own like in Sea of Sorrows, but all of that goes out the window when hanging out and doing dumb shit with friends. He just goes full dumbass mode and loses all his brain cells.

Other things are, he's very resistant to fire (and can also blow it back on you with his wind abilities), totally hides his tail under his outfit, wears makeup, totally wears a binder with a monkey print, and most definitely has one or more ginormous plush in his room.

OP, you and me with Tang Xuan's giant hoard of stuffies?? 🤞🏼<- this is how we is. Tight. Cause he absolutely collects them!!

Both of you learn new stuff from each other all the time I think! Since he's mainly an actor and you're mainly backstage

He asks you to watch him practice lines or asks you to join sometimes! (When he has romantic roles haha—)

Watching stuff together and being critics 🤝

Giving tickets to the other for stuff you're in and being so proud while watching

I think both of you would be like. Kind of like the parents of nrc's film research club. You're the ones who know the most there so everyone looks to you for guidance

I can imagine you being at one of Vil's shows or something then you notice a detail that could've done better if they did something else so you call up whoever is in charge. Then the person is just like "who tf are you" but you're still giving an entire essay on what they did wrong

In my head you're truly like a power couple. You'd rule the entire industry I'm so sure of it

You're not like those couples you see on TV where they're all lovey dovey all the time imo, you more like constantly support each other. You have your lovey dovey moments, yeah, but to me this seems more romantic. A very healthy relationship

no. no dude. they are the Theater Couple, i guarantee it. NO BC the way that she's probably the assistant stage manager at some point (just because she wants to try) and he's playing one of the leads, but they're just. subtle with each other. there are times where he just gently grabs her elbow while he's leaving to go on the OTHER side of the stage bc he knows she has to stay on her side, so it's their little "goodbye for now" AND ITS SO CUTE SINCE ITS IN THE DARK AND ONLY THEY KNOW!! ONLY THEY KNOW!! ohmygod during their breaks, they usually go off on their own and he definitely takes her to his favorite place, where they will talk about what they're working on. he'll go, "I have a featured role--" and she's already preparing to scream for that role when he appears on screen. SHE WANTS TO DIRECT HER OWN MOVIE WITH A SCRIPT SHE'S WRITTEN and he's already prepared to send it to producers that he knows (it's even better bc she demands for him to be the lead) <3

oh god when they practice lines together, she's usually a lil monotone at times (but she is definitely turning pink due to the romance lines AND BC HE USES HIS BLOCKING FOR HER AND IT FEELS SO REAL AND JUST OAIGJEOAIJGOIAJG) anyways, when they watch stuff together, they're both so judgmental it's not even funny. they are the WORST people to see movies with, i stg. she judges every little thing about the lights, sound, directing, sets and he judges every single part about everyone's acting, the directing, the script itself. the one time that they were invited to a film festival to watch new shows that were coming out, the way that he was calm and deadpan but she was making disgusted expressions that just turned her into a meme.

SHE'S HIS BIGGEST FAN, HE'S HER BIGGEST FAN. fun fact, its usually actors that get flowers backstage but vil ? if she's doing anything backstage, he's sending flowers. "send this to ivy, please." "she's working--" and ivy's sobbing in the bg bc he sent her flowers !!! with a note !!! SHE SCREAMS FOR VIL EVERYTIME HE BOWS ONSTAGE, she's lost her voice so many times because how she wants to be the loudest one for him (fans can scream "I LOVE YOU VIL" but she's pulling out a megaphone).

OH GOD THEY REALLY ARE THE PARENTS OF THE FILM STUDIES CLUB. its the way that she teaches everyone backstage and she's the one hanging upside down from 100 feet just to set up a light, while he teaches acting plus directing, while staring at her fondly (always makes sure there are people underneath to catch her if she falls, would probably move so that she falls into his arms). THE DAY SHE SEES SOMEONE MESS UP HIS SHOW, SHE'S CALLING WHOEVER'S THERE AND GOING "who do you think you are, how did you mess up so bad" "who are you and who do YOU think you are" "GIVE ME YOUR SCRIPT I CAN DO IT BETTER"

he definitely takes care of her. it's the way that she's always sore after a concert and sleeping for a while because she doesn't go to sleep until like. 1 in the morning sometimes, which is far past the time she should sleep. he has to get his beauty rest, but he'll always leave out some healthy snacks so that she'll feel refreshed, plus have warm water waiting for her (which, she thinks, definitely means he was up after 11 just for her). THEY BOTH CLICK SO WELL AND IT'S LIKE. they can read each other's minds and when one is forgetting something, the other is immediately behind them with said thing. they are so cute in that regard.

HIS SMILE, WHEN HE SMILES AT HER, SHE LITERALLY HAS TO LOOK AWAY AND FACE THE WALL SO THAT NO ONE CAN SEE IT, IT ALWAYS MAKES HIM LAUGH BC SHE'S USUALLY THE ONE FLIRTING HEAVILY. no no hear me out. backstage, they're waiting in the wings until it's his turn onstage, but everything is dark and they're right next to each other. i guarantee you he always plants a kiss on her forehead, just the smallest one before he gets onstage and she always takes his hand in response, ITS A SOFT AND TINY MOMENT BUT IT SAYS EVERYTHING. it always winds up in her gazing at him softly from the wings as he acts. if any actor asks her or teases her abt vil, she just bonks them.

THEY GIVE EACH OTHER GIFTS CANON, she knows a lot about makeup and skincare products now so whenever she's abroad for a vacation, she'll find new products that could possibly be something he likes and gifts them to him. he'll get her food and they both look through his fanmail. (one of those letters is definitely from her, she snuck it in). OH MY GOD WHEN HE DOES HER MAKEUP its such a quiet and soft moment bc she's usually impatient but when it comes to him she just. sits still the whole time to let him work and it's the cutest thing to see how he watches her as she keeps her eyes closed for him.

EXTRAS BC I CAN AND I LOVE THEM. when they hang out in the green room with the other actors and she's sitting but he's standing near her, she always leans into him. HE ALWAYS PETS HER HAIR SUBCONSCIOUSLY AS HE TALKS TO THE OTHER ACTORS AND ITS ADORABLE. the one time they were hanging out alone in the boys' dressing room as he put the last touches of makeup on, she was leaning backwards in a swivel stool chair to the point where he was afraid of her falling. once, he thought she was and immediately raced to catch her. she wasn't falling but her head landed on his lap as she looked up at him and said, "wow, are you gravity? because i just fell for you" AND HE JUST. HE HAD TO LOOK AWAY WHILE TRYING NOT TO SMILE.

they've definitely got the cutest moments in their plays backstage when they're together, because she'll be in the green room, sitting on the counter and he's always right by her to lean against her. in the wings, OH GOD WHEN SHE'S STRESSED BC OF ANOTHER ACTOR, there was definitely one time where, it was after a transition for the second act, she was just standing there with her arms crossed and looking down--a sign that she wasn't okay--and he just asked what was wrong. when she told him everything and he saw her so close to tears but holding it back, he just hugged her, even though he was supposed to do a costume change.

THIS ALSO APPLIES TO HER WITH HIM, when he hasn't gotten a role he wanted, she knows he's secretly disappointed in himself to which she prepares a self care day for him. facial masks, a good movie, snacks he likes as well as some calming drinks, she does an entire thing for him while saying, "the director is an idiot, he literally can't see talent when it slaps him in the face, someday i'll make a movie to make you the lead" and he always feels better in the end.

tldr: vilivy the most supportive couple of each other and the cutest and i have heavy brainrot for the two of them

I had a really bizarre dream that I think I've had before, where I used to be some kind of villain lady, but it turns out I wasn't actually evil, I was just misguided because of trauma, & there was a man who was very definitely a villain at his core, but he fell in love/became obsessed with me when I was younger, & because of my own trauma & naivete, I was like "this is good, this is a perfectly healthy relationship, & I need to do everything he says or he'll leave me", so I went around doing bad things with him, but when they caught him & locked him up, I was treated like a victim who needed counseling & therapy, & to be reintegrated into society rather than another criminal needing to be locked up.

Meanwhile, that's all backstory/dream memories, & in the actual events of the dream, years later, The Authorities™ need vital information from him, & he refuses to cooperate, so they pull me away from my nice, quiet life, doll me up in this long, flowy, sexy dress (that for some reason keeps changing color, but always seems to go back to this gorgeous, deep raspberry color), & a pair of heels that give murder vibes, & I take all this jewelry out of a box in the back of my closet, silver cuff bracelets, necklaces, & rings, covered with gems, all gifts from him. But most especially one ring that looked very old fashioned & antique, which he considered to be essentially a wedding ring, since he gave it to me when he swore we'd be together forever.

They sent me in to seduce my former lover & get back in with him in the hopes that he'd confide in me, since he has no reason to think that I would ever betray him.

So I come face to face with him for the first time since we were caught years ago (& I realize that the man is Javier Bardem), & his dangerous, commanding presence gets to me all over again, & I instantly remember why he had such a powerful hold over me. He holds me tightly, & says he missed me, & never stopped thinking about me, & he notes that I'm wearing the ring, which makes him smile warmly, with genuine emotion.

After a few moments of reacquainting ourselves with each other, he asks why I never came to see him. I told him I was afraid, & thought it would be too painful to see him locked up, so I stayed away.

Next thing I know, it's some indeterminate amount of time later, I'm back home, & he turns up at my door late at night. He's apparently escaped prison, & he's come to take me away with him. I was afraid to go back to that life, always running, but I was more afraid to let him go & risk never seeing him again, so I went to the closet & took out a bag that had sat there already packed since the day The Authorities™ sent me to see him. He told me everything they had wanted to know & more, but I told them he didn't. He'd had a plan even then to escape, & flee the country, & said he would come for me, because he could never run without his girl.

But just as we were getting into the car, we heard sirens approaching, & he looked very sad, knowing that we would be separated again.

& that's where I woke up.

oh boy, he's probably that close to having a breakdown himself

when he agreed to studying together, he was expecting that it was just code for 'playing pranks on the others' or 'hanging out together and eating all the snacks' and not actually studying

"it can't be a coincidence that you can't spell 'studying' without 'dying', right??"

still, he would try to be supportive and cheer for you

"you're the holder of the brain cell, y/n! if anyone can do those exams with ease, it's you!"

he would consult The Elders™ (Marco, Izou & Thatch who, again, did NOT agree to that name) to plan a little surprise party for you once exams are over

on the day of the exams he would leave some cute motivational sticky notes on your belongings and give you a long hug before, telling you that you got this

not him though, he'll just skip the exam and go burn some shit in the schoolyard

Marco

the doctor would notice immediately that you're stressed out because you came to the infirmary more often, asking for painkillers for your headaches or some blue fire healing because your hands were cramping too much from all the notes you were scribbling down

he would pat on the big armchair next to him, inviting you to sit down with him a moment

"i know you're studying hard, but remember to take some breaks too, okay? get some fresh air, clear your head. you got this, we all believe in you. and you know what? failing is an option, too. you can just try again next time. don't put all that pressure on your little shoulders."

would offer you a chest to cry on, protected from the outside under his wings, holding you until you calm down and got all the stress out of your system

Marco would offer you to join him in the infirmary anytime you wanted some quiet company or help with your notes, he's good at explaining stuff and will gladly listen to you anytime

Izou

Izou's agenda for you is "aggressive me time"

he would literally drag you away from your desk, not accepting any objections (he is scary, his glance alone can kill a man, good luck if you're trying though)

"shh. let me pamper you, just for one or two hours."

he would draw you a bath that smells heavenly, would offer to wash your hair for you including a head massage for some stress relief, allowing you to try out all of his beauty products (a privilege, no one who dared to touch them made it out alive)

Izou will wrap you in the biggest towels and you'll do some sheet masks together while sipping some freshly pressed juice

"you know, studying hard is one thing, but you also need to look after yourself. allow yourself some joy, too. sometimes the most basic tasks can help. you're feeling a lot better after a bath, right?"

i can see him reading something for you at night to help you fall asleep without thinking about your studies, spraying some lavender essence on your pillow for an even more relaxing effect

Thatch

he's the one who would knock five times a day at your cabin door, bringing you a freshly cooked meal or a plate full of cut fruit (not the particular one he should have eaten though)

Thatch knew that you would forget eating when you're busy with studying, so it's his personal mission to make sure you stay healthy and nurtured

during exam season he would cook all your favorite meals and pack you a big bento when you're off to write your exams

would definitely draw little smiley faces on your omelets and leave a cute note in your lunch bag, pack you some water and tea, too because staying hydrated is important!

whenever you need to leave your desk to clear your thoughts, he would always have a spot reserved for you in his kitchen, offering you to sit on the kitchen counter and watch him cook or letting you help with simple tasks like cutting vegetables, if you need to distract your hands a bit

"you know you can always join my division and help in the kitchen, right, kiddo? you won't need an exam for that.", he would hint with a wink; his way of saying that there's always other options too and exams aren't everything but he's still cheering for you

would give you a mama bear hug on the day of your exams, slipping you some candy in your pockets for the nerves before sending you off

Whitebeard

it's been a while since Pops experienced the stress of exam season but he knew how much pressure you put on yourself

Whitebeard would find the right balance between giving you space and checking in on you, making sure you don't feel isolated with your mind scattered all over the place

he would sit with you, helping you with your notes, quizzing you to make sure you knew your stuff (of course you did) and help you come up with a study plan

whenever he found you asleep over your books at your desk, he would either throw a blanket over your shoulders or carry you to your bed so you don't wake up with back pain the next morning (basically the equivalent to parents carrying you from the car to your bed when you were younger)

Pops would always find the right supportive words to take the sorrow and stress off your shoulders, leaving no doubt that you're loved no matter the outcome of your exams

Donald Na

Is not the most affectionate person. There would be no... intentional or obvious pda in a sense that he won't hold your hand or blow you kisses, but he won't bother pretending you're not together either? (Unless it's a strictly secret relationship for some reason) Like, he'll give you that little half-smile of his, stand closer to you, be a tad more touchy in a non-intimidating way. He'll look at you longer than he usually looks at people, and his gaze will be more tender.

I suppose I can just say that his main way of showing affection is just... not putting a facade. He'll be more open with you, and it will be noticeable even to other people, but if they think they can use it? or that he'll be nicer to them in your presence? Yeah, jokes on them. Donald actually can be persuaded to be a touch nicer to other people but it'll take a LOT of work. Like, not even just emotional work, but straight up work in the Union

Cuddles are... difficult. I think at the start he'll outright reject you if you try to get him to cuddle you, but at some point, especially if you manage to force him to cuddle and he gets a taste of what it's like, he'll want cuddles desperately. Probably won't show it, but the desire is there.

The problem with cuddles is that they take time, and Donald feels like the time spent cuddling is wasted. Yeah, sure, he feels rested and loved and safe in the process and afterwards, but it's not Productive™, y'know? The amount of work doesn't lessen, it just gets bigger, even more copious while he lounges on his couch with you like some useless moron.

It's a little easier if you're often at Yeouinaru for one reason or another. Then he'll be able to find some time in between meetings, paperwork and studying to lay on his couch and cuddle you. It's rather short usually, no longer than half an hour. He'd just lie on his back and let you lay on him, run his fingers through your hair and along your spine. His couch doesn't allow enough space for spooning but he'd the big spoon if you found a sufficient place.

I think he kinda needs to be the little spoon sometimes - or whatever the equivalent is for when you don't spoon and just cuddle. He'll never admit it, but it just needs to be done from time to time, like once every quarter. As a therapeutic measure, y'know?

Kingsley Kwan

Hugs are therapeutic, you know? You should get at least one decent hug every day to avoid getting depressed and dying from sorrow. Kingsley will make sure you get your daily dose of hugs, will be really routine and thorough about it too.

Doesn't mind pda if it's about affection and not the publicness. Will hold your hand if you want him to but don't make a Thing out of it.

Ready to comply to your needs more often than not. You're touch averse? Sure, he gets that, no unnecessary touching. You skin ship a lot? Also totally fine. You wanna be the big spoon even though you're like a foot shorter than him?.. allrrright, gonna be uncomfy but he can make it work.

Ask him for a kiss on your cheek one day, and he'll do it every day. If you want something done just once, not repeatedly, you'd better specify right away.

Cuddles are good. Healthy. Sedative. Just what you need after a tiring day. Will gladly cuddle you to sleep if you stay over/ live together. Likes spooning and is usually the big spoon. It just makes sense considering how tall he is, you know?

Wolf Keum

Rather indifferent about pda. Like, he's not doing shit to give people a show, y'know? He does it because he wants to. So what does it matter if you're in public or not?

Doesn't initiate physical contact often, but doesn't deny it to you either. You wanna hold his hand? Sure. You wanna hug him? Just don't sneak up on him or his reflexes might get the better of him and he'll end up elbowing you or something worse. But otherwise it's fine too.

He'll wrap an arm around your shoulders sometimes if you're comfortable with that, grab you by the arm other times, but this is all rather rare... Will do that more often later in the relationship though, when he gets used to non-violent physical contact.

He'll set up traps for you though. 😈 He'll be lounging around, sitting somewhere, all comfortable and warm and smelling of blood and cigarette smoke, you'll just naturally want to get closer. Maybe hug him or lean on him or sit on his lap... And he'll let you! It will be all nice and good - until you try to get away, that is. Then his hands turn into a vicious vice! And you're trapped. No going away until he mercifully decides to let you go which can be like... literal hours.

Probably likes to cuddle more than he'd care to admit. Is always the big spoon. Loves that the position allows him easy access to your neck while preventing you from getting away. So you'll just enjoy being wrapped in his protective embrace and then all of a sudden feel his teeth on your neck or shoulder. He'll bite really hard to feel you writhing, hear you whimpering. Might kiss it better after he's satisfied tho.

Jimmy Bae & Jack Kang

Jimmy would be insufferable on his own, but in a poly relationship with Jack he's surprisingly... adequate? Really surprising cuz Jack wouldn't do anything to stop him from making an ass of himself most of the time, he'd just be there and his aura of calming indifference would be enough. Not that Jack is truly indifferent, mind you. But he has the aura.

Jimmy would love pda, and it would be at least as much about the publicness as about the affection if not more. He'll put his arm around your shoulders or on your lower back or into the back pocket of your jeans. He wants to show off. But if there's Jack nearby that desire lessens a bit. He won't make a scene if you're just lounging around with Jack.

Jack isn't much into pda. He's not particularly into handholding since he prefers his hands into his pockets when they're not being actively used. Will be more expressive around you though, instinctively stand closer to you. Won't mind if you lean on him like on some kind of wall, might actually hug you then.

Jimmy's hugs are rare, mostly private, unexpectedly warm. He'll love hugging you while you sit on his lap, putting his chin on your sholder and playing with his phone or something.

You can also lie or sit on his back while he's doing push ups, he'll love it. He gets some nice physical contact AND to show off his strength! If it's not perfection, than what is?

Jack's hugs are firm, secure and even more rare than Jimmy's. Will mostly hug when one of you needs comfort. Won't deny you a hug if you just go for it though but will soon pat you on the back as if saying 'alright, now can I get out?' Will literally say it out loud if you hold him long enough.

Cuddles are mandatory. It's better if you all live together otherwise you'll have to make do with some club room at school. You're gonna be sandwiched between them. One of them is holding you from behind, another lying face to face with you. None of them will be the little spoon. Might be persuaded to try it but they just won't enjoy the feeling, so you're stuck with the position. Yep, even if you're taller than them.

Grape

He's social and rather tactile, so pda is natural and casual with him. It's natural for him to hold your hand while going somewhere, or half-hugging you, or touching your back, or putting a strand of your hair behind your ear when he sees that it's out of place. He doesn't make a thing out of it, but something barely noticeable in the way he does this things makes it undeniably romantic.

What he does make a thing of is selfies. Cameras. Social media. You better be into it if you're with him cuz he wants to show off his precious s/o to the world.

Grape is versatile. Bear hugs? Gentle romantic hugs? Big or little spoon? No spooning, just cuddling? You name it, he can do it all. And he will do it all - depending on the mood, his and yours current needs and wants, the time of day, the weather and a variety of other factors. It can make him unpredictable but not in a bad way. He's very good at reading the mood so if you're not quarrelling you can trust that he'll give you just what you needed. If you're at odds though he may be a little shit and make your bad situation even worse... Will feel bad and make it up to you tho.

He can be a little insecure about being in a protected positions at first. Like, being a little spoon or letting you hug him from behind. With a bit of help he gets over it fast though, and once he does, all is well.

Forrest Lee

So very tactile, but SO very repressed. Touch-starved af. In terms of affection Forrest Lee in the beginning of a romantic relationship and later on might as well be two different people.

In the beginning he'll be like 'alright, I got a s/o. Dunno how but I did. Hey, Grape, you see them? They're not imaginary, right? Right, good. So now I should just act cool and don't fuck up. They're probably with me because of my position in the Union, so must work hard to keep it going. Also be cool.' *dies*

He'll be so uptight. Hands in his pockets, expression carefully schooled into some cool indifference. Huh? You wanna hold his hand? Umm, alright. *blushes like crazy and dies* If you try talking to him while holding his hand, his replies will be like ten seconds late, cuz his brain is overheated and barely functioning.

You... want to cuddle him?.. Ummm..... Alllrright.... if you're sure... *holds you stiffly, doesn't breath, doesn't move, dies*

But it gets better over time, y'know? Once he gets used to it, he'll want affection constantly and he will shower you in it. Might still be a little embarrassed to do pda but mostly wouldn't care.

All the little touches, the handholding, stroking your hair, running his thumb over your cheek or the palm of your hand. Any and all manners of hugs. If initiating will usually hug you from behind, but is happy with literally any type of hug.

Doesn't care much for position when cuddling either. Just cuddle him, please. Would be a little embarrassed about being the little spoon, but all the embarrassment evaporates as soon as he's in your arms.
