[Who caught my 1981 DISCHARGE reference? War is a black hole to avoid!]
The Commemorative Air Force's Heinkel He 111 (actually a post war built CASA 2.111) photographed in 1993 in flight above Simi Valley, CA. During WW2 the He 111 was used as both a bomber and airliner, thus being described as “a wolf in sheep's clothing” The only flying example in the world, it was lost in a crash killing its two pilots in Cheyenne, WY, July 10th 2003. This aircraft appeared in the famous 1969 British war movie “Battle of Britain”
Heinkel He 118 (D-UKYM). This aircraft lost out against the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka for the Luftwaffe's new dive bomber. Two were sent to Japan. For more, see my Facebook group - Eagles Of The Reich
