I finally pulled Itto and his voice lines are giving me life. Oh, the scenarios conjuring in my head.
"Pff, real men don't carry umbrellas... Oh boy, wow, it's really starting to pick up. Uh quick, c'mon, get yours out! C'mon, quick, quick, quick!"
Itto proceeds to lift both you and your umbrella over his head, then sits you on his shoulders as you yell for him to put you down.
"No way, hozay. You gotta hold the umbrella so these hands are ready for a fight any time, any place. Can't let the bad guys get the drop on me and my little lady, y'know?"
-- he says in an open field with not a soul in sight.

Who in Genshin do you think has the most stable mental state
Itto.
Its Freaking Itto.
NO questions about it, no arguments, no nothin. This man Yells at Raiden Shogun to blast him with Lightning in a thunderstorm, has no issue befriending anybody, has enough self confidence to sustain him through anything, and does his best to genuinely be kind to so many other people.
Dainsleif could monologue to him about what happened to Khaenri'ah and not only would Itto have the best "That's Rough Buddy" energy but he would also be exactly like the "This is where my parents died," "Cowabummer" Image SDLFKJSDFLJSDLGSD
On a slightly more serious note tho: Itto is one of the only existing members of the cast we've actually got proof of overcoming their insecurities and trials.
Most characters are hung up by something that Has happened, Could Happen, or Will Happen. ie Zhongli and Death, Venti and the Nameless bard, Diluc and his mistakes, Kaeya and his destiny. The list goes on and on.
Itto's main struggles are all in the past.
He was persecuted as a child, but taken in and raised, and obviously taught the value of his own worth despite what other people say. And he caries that lesson deeply. Sometimes maybe too far, but it allows him to face adversity and his struggles with pride and reassurance. He's learned to put his 110% into everything, and not really give a rip about what other people think or how he's perceived, just that he's doing what he thinks is right, and that he is worth it.
The only time we get rumbles of more serious emotional frustration from him, its usually about the safety of others (ie, Him not liking that people bother Granny Oni, Being angry that the Blue Oni sacrificed themselves, Putting his foot down about Xiao's sacrifice) He doesn't like seeing other people treated as below their value. Because he can see the value in everybody.
So yeah, he spends his days clowning around, never achieving much, being thought very little of, but this man knows his worth, and he knows the worth of others, and honestly? I think that makes him pretty smart. :)

Itto looks like the type to say “hubby” unironically, love this guy
uh, my first concept of Heizou from arranged marriage au by @throwingstuffhere, thank you for inspiration there!
design explanation under the cut
uh.. look, character design is hard, and this is one of the first ideas i came up with after staring at Kamisatos for a while. this will change, if i ever do this again
there was this reddit post about Ayato’s design and how it was majorly inspired by Japanese Meiji era clothes, worn by both nobility and samurais, it is here, if you are curious
here, my main problem was, well, Heizou is decidedly not a samurai, so a lot of design choices for Kamisato siblings or even Thoma wouldn’t fit, he needs more space to move
so the liberties i’ve taken here (in this iteration, again, if i decide to work on this more i most likely will change things i didn’t do enough research for it to be any form of final design), i took Ayato’s design and adjusted it:
instead of Ayato’s coat, which will constrict his movements, flail around and overall be very impractical, here he wears a cloak, which is easy to remove and put it back on (and i imagine he’d flick the cloak dramatically); the Yashiro commission crest on his back
instead of the tight western trousers he’d wear hakama pants (or something along those lines), which also allows him more freedom
now, like Ayato, he’s also wearing kimono, but after sitting on it i’ve started to lean towards a western shirt under, but those tend to be tight as well, so cropped? Heizou doesn’t tend to worry about propriety and it wouldn’t be visible anyway, so that might be one of the changes i’d make
unlike Ayato who wears at least four layers of fabric, Heizou would have at most three and that’s counting the cloak
to emphasise the fact that Heizou is a part of the family, but is distancing himself from them, I’m giving him clothing of similar style, but slightly different colour scheme (i know this image is not coloured, bear with me):
Kamisatos’ accents colours are deep blues, purples, golds. well, in Ayaka’s case, it’s more pink then purple, but I’m wilfully ignoring that, now it’s light purple
Heizou in this au might wear gold and purple, and burgundy (or maybe orange-ish brown like his shorts from his og design) as “his own” color, so he fits in, but also not really
every Kamisato (Thoma, obviously, included) has their visions motif in their clothing (or, well, their main outfits ig, i didn’t look at Ayaka’s new dress): so Heizou’s most likely will be on his cloak, like Thoma or Ayato, or his pants, like Ayaka’s dress. which also could tie into his character arc, if it comes to that: Heizou accepts his role and instead of the burgundy he’d wear his vision’s blue-ish green, so his colour scheme is closer to the siblings
did you know that inazuman designs tend to have a lot of rope and ties? well, i didn’t until before i started this thing, so naturally this design is too simple for Inazuma and genshin in general, so it needs more work
also i made his hair a bit less unruly then i would normally do (not that anyone could tell) and he doesn’t have the tie
actually nvm here’s the “canon” Heizou in my style
and if the lineart looks like shit, here's the sketch

im gently picking up ayaitto in my hands. holding them. i rlly need to do more research on them orz
this has been sitting in my drafts for awhile so i suppose ill post em now!
ayaitto prerelationship headcanon time!
ayato knows of itto before they meet, of course--he thought he was strange, but harmless.
he's completely caught off-guard though when itto calls him over to watch an onikabuto match between him and a kid; no reservations whatsoever.
for only a minute, ayato thinks that itto may be trying to get his foot in the door to grander things... and is immediately proven wrong when he doesn't bring up his title at all, and simply doesn't know that ayato is the yashiro commissioner
ayato again... just completely thrown off, but in the most delightful way possible in his eyes.
being able to relax like he's a kid again, after having to manage the commission from such a young age, is a breath of fresh air
and its even more interesting to him that although he has a tendency to not appear for months at a time, itto still thinks of them as close friends
so he keeps in touch with itto when possible, albeit usually by having thoma hand things off to him; smaller things that he doesn't care much for but knows itto would appreciate, like special drinks and snacks or a new set of cards. small tokens of appreciation
ayato also has a tendency to suggest odd jobs from the yashiro commission when itto needs money, just so that he can see him a bit more. (itto does not still realize that he's the yashiro commissioner.)
ayato is affectionate from afar; he already knows that itto wouldn't give up the gang or anything for him, so he doesn't bother asking. he simply gives small things to itto and resolves some of the problems the arataki gang gets into some of the time. (not all of them of course! it builds character to have to figure things out... and also it's amusing.)
on itto's end... god this man is so fucking clueless. love him
itto thinks of ayato as just a total bro, always sending little gifts and helping out, albeit indirectly. and he's so well spoken! itto takes some notes from him, and offers him a place in the gang, which ayato declines
shinobu knows who ayato is. the whole gang knows who ayato is. shinobu has tried to tell him and itto just scratched his head and went "well maybe it's a different ayato?"
shinobu does keep an eye on ayato though, she does NOT trust him at all.
itto tries to reciprocate all the little things that ayato sends him--usually little diy art things, that admittedly are really bad. ayato has a collection of them and they're very precious to him
