"Concerned that I'm not selling it enough? I'd like to think I've done a fairly good job lately, but if you insist. I could make the attempt to do better."
Was it just a rumor still? Not with the amount of times they'd been seen out and about together with those rings on their fingers. Something told him that along the way, he'd stumbled into something... more than just speculation. More than just fun. And he was not altogether sure how he felt about it yet.
...Not... badly, though.
He knew that.
But her teasing still got him somewhere in the ego. Alastor was not a poor actor. He could sell it. And to do it, he was reaching to take Rosie by the hand to pull her over to himself.
"Consider this a sort of... dress rehearsal for the next time we go out for dinner, hm?"
Absolutely not just an excuse to get his mouth on hers again. Not the usual bitey, feisty affair that he was quick to fall into. But he would let this one simmer, reaching up to take her face in his hands and gently brush thumbs along her cheeks, red eyes fixed on her hollower ones that he found transfixing all the same.
...If he could make her believe it; make everyone else believe it... Maybe he might too.
Alastor drew her closer then, into him and his mouth which pressed warmly; steadily to hers. His eyes slid shut and he kept her there, deepening the kiss enough so that there could be no mistaking his intent. Let it settle. Let it linger. Until he had to break it to simply breathe, vaguely aware of his chest giving a few heaves from the purposeful way that he was trying to steal her air from her. Might have stolen it from himself too.
He ended up chasing the heavy sensation by giving a few nibbles to her bottom lip as a result, his somewhat goofy grin coming back with relative ease. Look. Still him. Still adorable. Still a rumor? More than that?
He had no idea anymore.

Grumpy
Boba fett x fem reader
Summary: boba is a grumpy man but we love him... Also for a real summary: the reader is annoying, always talking and being a goofy person. And boba only tolerates it because he loves her.
Warnings: slight language I think? Slight jealous boba, he's also a bit insecure in this one. Fluff, FLUFF.
Pic credit to @xxrosaaa29xx I'm using your pic for scientific research purposes 👀
Also dala means "woman" in mando'a incase whoever reads this didn't know and found themselves in confusion like I do most times....
I know I also said I'd write for din more but, c'mon! My bestest friend ever here inspired me to write this!
Thank you my amazingly beautiful friend @friendscall-me-mom this was spurred on because you 👀
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Boba was a busy man, he couldn't seem to hold still for more then two minutes. He always had something keeping him busy or somewhere to be, but that's the way he liked it. So ever since boba claimed the throne that once belonged to jabba the hut and later jabba's companion Bib Fortuna, boba found himself almost never leaving the palace, it was relaxing yes, a nice relaxing thing actually, but also a little too... Uneventful for his liking. So after leaving Fennec in charge over the palace, someone he knew he could trust, he brought you along with him to venture away from tatooine to accompany him on his first bounty hunt in almost six years.
When he had gruffly asked you to join him, it left you baffled. You thought he'd enjoy a nice time away from you considering he always spoke of how annoying you are, he always ignores you are tries putting a distance between the two of you. In your eye's he hated you, his actions displaying such. But in all honesty? Boba fett found himself attracted to you, his brown eyes always glued to you when you walked into the room, gaze unable to leave your figure for a second. His heart always doing the annoying flip it does whenever he hears your laugh or catches a glimpse of that beautiful smile adorning your face.
He pushed you away because he didn't know how to love you like you deserved, you was always so... Happy, bubbly personality and jokes putting a smile on everyone's face. He was afraid that if he let you love him, his usual grumpy and hardened personality would dent your chirpy one. So... He pushed you away.
But you didn't ever see the adoring looks he gave you, or the faint tug of his lips when you told a joke. All of those things went unnoticed by you, partly because the helmet he wore and the fact he always hid his emotions well. Something you found infuriating. But despite that, and his constant grumpy behavior towards you, you found yourself intrigued by the man, you couldn’t deny he was a handsome man. Dark eye's that seemed to sparkle whenever the light hit them just right. And although his words was always short, sometimes even harsh on the more stressful days for him, you found yourself hanging on to every word he spoke, his voice intoxicating, beautiful. You scolded yourself many times for falling in love with boba fett, but then again how could you not have? When he showed you rare moments of kindness - especially when you had both met on tython, you having permission from your friend din to stay with boba. Because din saw how you looked at boba, he knew you was in love with him.
But damn was boba oblivious, or either he knew you was smitten with him and just hid it well. Whatever the case, you was slightly hurt by the fact he always found a way to either distance himself from you are push you away.
Slave I was quite, boba sitting in the co-pilot seat while you let your mind roam freely to dwelling thoughts. But you let out a little laugh, the sound drawing boba's attention as he tilts his helmet in your direction.
"what's funny dala?" he asked, speaking mando'a, a nickname you've learnt well. He often enjoyed using it in a mocking manner though, it usually rolled off his tongue whenever he was annoyed or like said, mocking someone, aka, you.
You shrug, a grin on your lips. The reason you was amused though, was today's previous events played on your mind. You and boba had both stopped by a cantina on Batuu, only stopping their for fual and a bite to eat. Because you wouldn't shut up until boba finally gave in and took you somewhere to eat. And as you was both enjoying a meal, boba choosing a nice empty booth in the dark corner as he took his helmet off. A man had been flirting with you, it was harmless really, a few compliments on your beauty and a few hints of how the man genuinely wanted to get to know you better. Although he seemed nice you didn't really want to speak with him, so let him down easy.
But boba was, for some odd reason to you, pissed off with the man's constant talking. He didn't like how his eyes roamed your body, didn't like how you indulged him, and he really didn't like how he talked to you, using those flirty little comments and jokes, coaxing a laugh or two from you. Boba hated it, he was fuming. So without hesitation, boba threatened the poor man's life with a cold hard stare causing the man to flee the whole planet with fright.
Although you was slightly mad at boba in the moment, you found it hilarious now. Letting out another laugh you try and cover your mouth, stifling the laugh. "what is it?" he seemed genuinely curious but his words came out bitter.
"you scared that poor man to death boba... He literally left Batuu because of one simple glare and a few threats!" you laughed, grabbing your side because of how hard you was laughing now. "di - did you see his face!" you wheeze out through laughter, "he almost pissed his pants!" you shake your head and your laughter dies down.
Boba, unknowingly to you, had a smile on his face, Almost prideful. He focuses his attention on you now, loving the sight of your wide smile now. He had thought he angered you with how he scared the man off, he thought you was actually attracted to the other man. But seeing you laughing about the situation put him at ease, you wasn't mad at him.
"I thought he was bothering you, he was surely bothering me with his jabbering" boba tried to brush the topic off. He felt slightly annoyed he was jealous over the fact the man had made you smile and laugh. And the man was younger, his face not as scarred or aged as boba's. He didn't want to admit it, but he felt a little insecure when around you, why would you want him when the galaxy had so much more out there for you?
"oh he wasn't jabbering, he was being nice... But you scared him enough to flee the planet" you giggle, amused by the situation.
He only grunts in response, one of many signs he was in a grumby mood. You flicker your eyes down at his side, the side his beskar failed to cover.... Grinning you reach over and poke him.
"stop being grumpy" you muttered playfully, his visor snapping in your direction before falling down to look at where you kept your hand, ready to puke him again.
"I'm not grumpy princess" he harshly grunts out while taking your hand in his and throwing your hand back into your lap. "don't touch me..." he muttered. He may have came off as angry, but under the helmet he was flustered, your touch sending a delightful warmth spreading all over him, turning his face red.
Your smile filters for a moment, thinking you may have infuriated him. The sight makes him guilty until he sees you grin again. "you have to be ticklish, everyone is. I'm now making it my goal to find you're ticklish spot!" you declare cheerfully. Boba shaking his head.
"I'm not ticklish. let me be dala" he spoke while putting the ship on autopilot as he went into hyperspace. Standing up he leaves the cockpit, you following him. He walks into the cargo area, plopping down on a crate as he takes his helmet off, usual stoic expression on his face as he cleans his helmet off. A act he does out of boredom you've grown to discover.
"not ticklish eh? So you won't mind..." you sit beside him making him go stiff visibly, his hand freezing as he wiped the visor off. "this!" you slither your hand on the spot between his neck and shoulder and start tickling, but he does even smile, much to your dismay.
"please stop" he deadpanned. And you do so with a huff. "I'm not ticklish so stop" he continued wiping his helmet off.
You sigh deeply and cross your arms. "I've never seen you smile nor laugh, If I can't find you're ticklish spot then I'll tell you joke's!" you state, his face slowly morphs into one of annoyance.
"please don't... I left tatooine for two reasons: peace and to be able stretch my legs for a bit" he said while looking up at you, his dark eye's capturing you for a bit.
"then why did you invite me to join you? You know I annoy you with my presence" you say, arms crossed.
He invited you because he knew how men eyed you on tatooine with hunger, with a undeniable look of lust. He hated it, wanted to rip all their eyes out for doing so. He knew that if he left any man could waltz up to you and flirt their way into your heart. So he brought you with him because he'd be damned if he left you on tatooine, he never wanted to leave your side.
"because I knew that if I didn't you wouldn't shut up, I've heard how you wanted to leave the place for a little vacation as you put it and I had already planned on hunting so... I invited you" he muttered, blowing on the visor to ensure its clean before sitting it aside, now cleaning his blaster. It wasn't a lie, he heard you telling Fennec how you wished to escape the sands and scorching hot heat for at least a little bit.
Your heart swells at his words, to anyone it was nothing. to you... It was his way of showing affection. He knew you wanted a vacation so he took you with him, if you didn't know any better you'd say he even planned this hunt because that. But that was wishful thinking.
"did I ever I tell you the story of how Mando got zapped by those jawa's?" you snicker, knowing that would at least make him smile. But he nods, confirming you have.
"more then once mesh'la" he didn't mean to let that one simple word slip from his mouth, but it did, and from the beaming smile and small blush on your cheeks, he knew you knew what it meant.
"oh you think I'm beautiful now?" you tease, seeing the way he tensed up whenever the word rolled off his tongue, you knew that you turning it into playful banter would ease away whatever it was that made him tense like that.
"shut up girl" he grumbled while standing up, you doing so making him huff. "don't follow me around like a damn lost child!" he snaps, taking you aback slightly. But you shrug his words off, although they did hit pretty hard.
He saw that and grumbled something before continuing whatever it was he was doing. "what if I don't wanna stop!" you say with a giggle, following him to the poor excuse for a bed he used.
"then I guess I'm gonna have to face the fact you're goal and life purpose is to annoy me" he said, sitting on the bed, slowly stripping the beskar off piece by piece. You could only watch as his soft shirt he wore under it exposed the softness of him, his tummy practically begging for you to reach out and tickle it -
You grin at the thought his tummy would be ticklish, it was a mischievous glint in your eye that alarmed him. "oh no" he muttered as you grin at him and flop down beside him on his bed.
"admit it boba, you enjoy my company" you sigh with a big smile, his scoff only making you giggle. He opens his mouth to respond but whatever he wanted to say was forgotten the moment you tickle his belly, soft and adorable like you always thought it would be.
His eye's widen as he finds himself laughing, a smile on his face. He falls backwards on the bed as you crawl on top of him, straddling him as you continue tickling his belly as your heart flutters at the sight of his smile and sound of his gruff laughter.
"you do have a ticklish spot!" you laugh, his large hands resting on your hips as he flips you over, now he was hovering over you.
"you are relentless" he mused, his smile now gone and replaced back with his grumpy expression. "don't ever do that again mesh'la" he grumbled. But he couldn't deny how being so Close to you makes his desire to kiss you grow strong. Once he catches
"oh Stop being grumpy, it’s lame." you tease him, cheeky smile. He shakes his with a huff.
"You're an idiot" he retorts while rolling off of you, much to your dismay. He sits up and back in the position he was once in. You sit up beside him.
"but you love me" you said it before you could register what exactly fell off your tongue. Boba seemed to freeze beside you, making fear settle deep within your very core. "I - I didn't mean - like -
Your stuttering was shushed by the smile boba gave you, it was soft, didn't quite reach his eye's but it was still genuine. "unfortunately dala I do..." he didn't look you in the eye, instead, his cheeks starting to turn a little pink as he fiddle with a piece of his armor he picked up off the floor, he didn't want to see you possibly reject him, he didn't want to see your face when you laugh at him for confessing such a thing.
But maker was he surprised when you scooted closer and gently cup his cheek making him look at you, the genuine soft smile on your face different from the cheeky ones or mischievous ones you'd always offer the bounty hunter.
"do you mean it?" you ask him, voice barely above a whisper as your eyes search his dark brown ones for the answer, and you saw it, swimming amongst the endless brown hues of his eyes. A truthful, raw emotion besides being angry he showed you, displaying it before your very eyes. Love, adoration, truth....
"I have loved you since the moment I saw you, although I'll have to admit I thought you and you're mandalorian friend was already a couple. That's why I hesitated to talk to you so much" boba confessed, a smile beaming on your face as your eyes glow with joy. Your thumb subconsciously stroking one of many scars on his face.
"likewise, I've never seen someone quite as handsome as you before, nor as intriguing" his snort of amusement made you give him a confused look, wondering what he found funny.
"oh so you find me intriguing?" he smugly replied causing you to roll your eye's. Your free hand that wasn't holding his face, fell to his soft tummy. He tenses up and gives you a warning look. "don't" he muttered.
But you only grin at him, "why not? If you want to laugh at me I'll give you something to laugh at" you slip a hand up his shirt, his warm skin soft. Your touch had his heart doing a flip, if not for the fact he knew you planned on tickling him, he'd find this soothing.
"I wasn't laughing, just simply asking a question"
"after you let out a little laugh" you point out, he shakes his head ready to protest, but you had already begun your assault, tickling his belly. Practically in his lap again as he fell back.
You both knew that if he really wanted, he could stop you easily. But hearing his thunderous laugh echo across the ship and seeing his beautiful smile? It made you beam with happiness, a sight boba couldn't get enough of.
Needless to say, after the hunt you and boba has shared a kiss, slept in his arms every night as he claimed you as his. When you both arrived back on tatooine and into the palace you called home, Fennec had seen how boba had became extra protective over you, seeing how he couldn't seem to leave your side. She knew the hunt brought you both together, it was a relief, now she didn't have to see you both dance around your feelings for each other.

Cosplay Contest
Ao3
FFnet
WC: 1,332
Summary:
Post Phantom Planet, Danny decides to enter a cosplay contest of himself. Hilarity ensues when he recognizes one of the other contestants.
Danny looked around at his competition haughtily. Copies of his hazmat suit and white hair could be seen all around him. At least 20 people were seriously cosplaying, the other 10 or so just had t-shirts and sometimes wigs, obviously just entering the competition for fun.
"There are some pretty good costumes here, Danny." Said Tucker, who was standing next to said halfa and also watching the crowd.
"Like I would lose a costume contest for myself." Danny snickered. He and Tucker had been looking forward to this all day. Ever since the reality gauntlet incident, Danny had wanted to do this. And now that everyone knew who he was after the Disasteroid - he stood by his claim that that was a horrible name- he felt comfortable doing so without ghost hunters showing up. At least, he hoped.
The pair of the trio -Sam's mom had dragged her to some party, she would be coming tomorrow- had wandered around the convention all day. It wasn't completely Phantom-themed, but given that he'd saved the world a few months ago, a lot of it was. Danny pointedly stayed away from the artist alley. Frankly, he was a bit afraid of what he'd see. It was also cool that they got VIP passes, in exchange for hosting a panel on the last day of the convention. Danny didn't think that a comic-con suited him necessarily, but he is like the first real superhero so it kinda made sense.
"I don't know, Danny. I could probably confuse you and that guy." Tucker said, pointing at someone that did look a lot like Danny. But his face was a bit longer and he didn't have Danny's freckles. There was also a person who was a lot shorter than Danny and had a rounder face, he looked almost exactly like 14-year-old Danny. It was uncanny.
"Oh come on, he's not nearly as handsome as me." Danny made a goofy grin before it broke and he ended up laughing along with Tucker.
"I'd be inclined to believe you, if you hadn't gotten turned down by Paulina even after you saved the world."
"I turned her down, you-"
"Contestants please come to the stage." Came a voice over the speakers. Immediately the crowd began heading in that direction. Danny said goodbye to Tucker and headed for the stage. He'd made sure he was entering a contest that didn't have a prize of any sort, if he won he wouldn't want it. But this one is just for fun, and they tell everyone what place they're in so he wouldn't be taking the glory away from anyone else.
Danny got into his spot in line with his doppelgangers and they went up to the stage, one at a time by order of the number they received when they signed up. Three judges were sitting at a pop-up table in front of the stage. Danny went across the stage -number 22- with a smirk on his face. He was half-tempted to fly over it and out himself there just to give everyone a laugh but decided not to, instead channeling the very essence of his "Phantom" persona into his expression and gait. One of the judges looked slightly confused, one was seemingly surprised and the third was unreadable. Danny didn't stretch out his time on stage and joined his lookalikes on the other side of it.
"You look just like him. How'd you get the glowly look?" He exclaimed. Danny stuttered for a moment. How would a cosplayer make themselves look like they have an aura? Should he have tried to tone it down?
"Woah-" Said a guy who had a mid-tier cosplay. A bit of his blonde hair was sticking out from under the wig.
"Uh- that's my little secret." Danny gave a grin he hoped was convincing. The guy just gave him a knowing smile and a nod before going off somewhere else.
Danny waited with bated breath at the last ten or so Phantoms crossed the stage, and then the judges asked them all to come up, standing side by side. Some had to stand on the step leading up to the stage at the front because they wouldn't all fit shoulder-to-shoulder. The judges took a few more moments of deliberation before the unreadable one took a breath to speak. The halfa leaned forward unconsciously, beaming and waiting for the judge to say 'number 22.'
"First place goes to number 13!" The announcer said with a big smile on her face.
"What?!" Danny looked surprised that someone had shouted at the same time as him. He saw the short cosplayer from before standing next to him and squinted his eyes before he realized exactly who it was.
"Awesome!" Exclaimed the long-faced guy from earlier. At the same time came two shouts of:
"Danielle?!" He exclaimed.
"When the heck did you get here? I though you were still in Tokyo!" Danielle smiled sheepishly.
"I wanted to have some fun, but you beat me to it!" She socked the older halfa in the shoulder and made him laugh.
"Uh- is there something going on here?" Asked the guy judge who had looked confused earlier. The Dannies exchanged wide grins.
"Oh nothing much," Danny started. And then he triggered his transformation back to Fenton and let his feet leave the floor. (he'd been practicing using his powers in human form, it seemed it'd paid off.) He'd made sure to wear the same outfit as Antarctica, just to be sure they'd recognize him.
"Hey I thought we agreed on cousins- and I got back just to mess with this. I even cut my hair! In both forms!" She exclaimed. And she was right. Except for her jacket and beanie, she looked just like him. She was even wearing the same clothes in human form as Danny. He wondered at first where she got them but then he looked a bit closer and saw a spaghetti stain he distinctly remembered making a few weeks ago.
"My clone and I are just a bit confused how we didn't win a costume contest on being me! Guess I wore the wrong face this morning." Danny said the last part, looking almost troubled. Danielle changed and rose into the air with him and the whole room froze. Except for Tucker, who could be heard cackling.
"Did you raid my closet?" He asked. He thought a few things had gone missing!
"Are you really Danny Phantom?" Interrupted one of the contestants incredulously.
"It had to be authentic! I've gotten like twelve compliments on my outfit just today." She smiled a smile that reached her eyes, one Danny had only rarely seen.
"Me?" Asked Danielle, though she knew it wasn't aimed at her.
"Nah, I'm just a clone of this dork." She elbowed Danny in the ribs.
"I resemble that remark!"
"Clone?!" Came a confused consensus.
"Oh yeah, Plasmius was a real fruitloop." Danny said, and the pair nodded in sync. That was almost creepy. There was a beat of silence before Danny continued.
"So I figure I'm disqualified -you too buttmunch- but I'll say here; I'm hosting a panel tomorrow and I'll probably somehow convince this brat to join me. So be there!" With that Danny disappeared, invisible, and Dani followed suit a moment later.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The first ten minutes of Q & A the next day was just about the competition, and Danny had completely confused half of them by saying he had no idea what the heck they were talking about. And when questioned about the girl next to him he told them that was his sister- if they were true fans how didn't they know he had two sisters? Overall he trolled the crowd for a few hours and explored afterward as Phantom, getting compliments on his cosplay. Sam somehow convinced him to go down artist alley, claiming no one was allowed to have explicit stuff.
One: Sam was wrong. And two: There was so much blood.
Girl Crush (IV)
Chapter 4: Cyclamens For Farewells
 Here we go for a new chapter!!! I am still on fire!! I hope you like this new part, tell me what you think :)
No warnings except for a little bit of angst towards the end.
Word Count : 2791
Tumblr media
"I reckon that this is an octopus."
"Or maybe a lion."
You gave Harry a pointed look.
"How can you see a lion where I see an octopus? The two are far from being the same."
"Everyone sees the world through a different scope."
"And Harry the philosopher is back with us, ladies and gents…"
He let out a bright wave of laughter.
"Have you finished that book I gave you, by the way?" he asked, turning his neck in what had to be a painful position to look at you, but he didn't seem to mind.
The grass was soft under your bodies, and above your heads the lazy clouds drifted as they changed shapes. The Californian sun was warm, but not burning your skin anymore. It was quite late in the afternoon, and soon twilight would turn the azure sky in pink and purple hues.
It was good to have Harry back in L.A. even if it wasn't going to last for very long. He had some scenes to film for his movie Dunkirk in the studios by Hollywood, allowing him to spend some time with you again.
Along the months that had passed, you reckoned that your friendship had only strengthened. It was normal for the two of you to call each other almost every day. And the more you spent time learning about Harry, the more you liked what you discovered.
He was goofy, and funny, and held kindness to everyone he met as naturally that it was for him to smile. Of course, sometimes he pissed you off, and he was cheeky, and he could be a pain the arse if he wanted to be, but you couldn’t find it in yourself to hold any grudge against him. At the end of the day, he was one of the nicest people you had met in your life.
"I'm almost done. Do you want it back?" you asked back.
"No, no, no… take your time. I just want to talk about it with you, 's all."
"Not yet! No spoilers!"
"I wouldn't dare. You scare me too much."
"I hope so."
You both let out a laugh, looking at the clouds again. Harry pointed at another one, round and fluffy and cotton-like.
"This one is a jellyfish," he decided.
"Agreed."
"What? No arguing?"
"No… no, that's a jellyfish, alright."
He chuckled, and once his laughter had faded, his smile remained on his lips, dimples planted on his cheeks. You caught yourself staring, and hurried to look up at the heavens again.
He had cut his hair short for the purpose of the period drama he was filming, and you were now accustomed to seeing him with such hairstyle. When you learnt that he had given his cut hair to a charity, you weren't even surprised. It was most definitely something Harry would do.
Your eyes drifted back towards him, as if you couldn't help it, as if they were a compass and he was North. You studied how some of his curls had fallen out of place and covered his forehead a little…
…and then you shook yourself and brought your attention back to the clouds above.
"I hadn't done that since I was a child," Harry admitted. "But it's still very nice."
"It's relaxing," you nodded, "I hadn't done that in an eternity either."
You let out the next words before you could think them through, but they were true, so you didn't mind.
"I've missed you a lot, it's good to have you back, Harry."
He reached for your hand across the grass, and brushed his fingers against yours, as if to show you that he was here, or perhaps to remind himself that you were real.
"I've missed you too, Y/N."
Another cloud drifted above you, and you smiled at the shape. You and Harry pointed at it in sync.
"It's a heart!"
You looked at each other, and exploded with laughter. And maybe it was a little hard for both of you to look at each other for a while.
"So… nothing new?" you asked Harry, trying to hide how much your voice was hesitant.
"Not so much."
"You've got to tell me more about the set and everything though…"
But Harry shook his head.
"Not now. We don't talk about my work now. But we can talk about yours! What about that promotion you were aiming at? Any news? You were supposed to get an answer this week, right?"
You gave him a bright grin.
"Yeah, I got it."
"You did?!" Harry sat up in a jolt.
"Yep! I did! I'm officially a florist, and not an assistant!"
"That's amazing! Congratulations!"
Before you could move, he was pulling you up into a bear hug, making you laugh.
"It deserves some champagne!" he went on.
"Relax, it's not that big of a deal…"
"Not that big of a deal?! Are you kidding me?! You've been working so hard to get this job! It's amazing! Come on, get up! We're going to celebrate!"
"Now?"
"Yes, now! Come on!"
"Where are we going?"
"Doesn't matter! We're going to get hammered! Come on!"
He grabbed your hand and pulled you up to your feet, making you laugh.
"I thought you were supposed to see your girlfriend tonight," you reminded him, and Harry took out his phone.
"You're absolutely right. I'll tell her I'll be a little late."
"Or she can come with us?" you offered, even if you secretly hoped she would say no.
Not that you hated her or anything… it was more selfish than that. If she came along, she would be all over Harry, and you hadn't seen your friend in three months… and if you didn't blame her for it, you just wanted to spend some time with him.
But Harry shook his head.
"She had something to do before dinner, so I'll just tell her I'll be late. It's alright."
"You sure?"
"Of course! We should ask some of your friends to join us!"
"Uhm… okay…"
He frowned hard.
"You don't seem so happy about my idea. Did I say something wrong?"
But you shook your head with a happy smile back on your lips.
"Of course not, it's very sweet. I'll call a couple of friends and ask them if they want to join us."
"Nice! I know a nice bar not too far from here."
"I'd… rather go somewhere more… quiet…"
"I know just the place! Come on!"
An hour later, you were eating pies at the beachwood café with Harry, your colleague Sandra and your friend Jasmine.
If Sandra had met Harry at the flower shop many times, Jasmine had only heard of your new friend. And as you had come to realize along the past few months that Harry's name was better known than what you had expected, you thought it wise to warn her before she would arrive. Which was why the following texts were exchanged before she arrived at the café.
 I've texted you the address of the café
 Yep, just saw it.
 Harry chose the place, it sounds nice.
 Harry… I see…
 Can you stop already? You're embarrassing me. We're friends, he's not single.
 Just saying that it's been a while since
you've been in anything serious and he
sounds like a nice guy.
 A nice guy in a relationship with someone else, yes.
 By the way, as you know more about music than I do… I should warn you about Harry. I think you might know him
 Really? What's his stage name.
                                                                           Harry Sytles. Rings any bell?
 WHAT?!
 ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!
 WHAT?!?!
                                                                        …
                                                                        I take it that it does ring a bell,                                                                                then…
 You have about twenty minutes to get over it and calm the fuck down
 If this is a joke you will not be my
friend anymore.
                                                                        It's not a joke.
 Omg…
You had to give it to her that she was doing a great job at trying to stay calm. She seemed a little freaked out, but loosened up as the evening went by. Harry was his usual charming self, asking her questions about her work, and answering with silly anecdotes. And in the end, you were grateful for Harry's idea, you were having a lovely time.
She held back until Harry had to excuse himself to the bathroom and you were left alone with her and your colleague.
Her smile vanished and became an accusatory expression while she kicked your shin under the table.
"Ouch! What was that for?!" you complained, throwing a piece of breath at her in retaliation.
"Harry… fucking… Styles… Are you KIDDING ME?!"
"Shh!"
"How could you not tell me before that you were friends with Harry Styles?!"
"The occasion never arose for you to meet him, and quite frankly, I'm beginning to wish that it never had arisen at all."
"I can't believe it… the cute clumsy guy from the wedding was Harry Styles…"
"Don't talk about him like that," you frowned.
"Like what?"
"Like he's not a person."
"I'm not doing that. I'm just pointing out the fact that he's super famous! And hot!"
You rolled your eyes.
"Jasmine…"
"He's very nice, don't get me wrong!" she interrupted you. "But… that's hard to process."
"Well, you'd better process before he comes back!"
"He's a sweetheart, he would get it!"
"We're having a nice evening, Jas! Don't spoil it."
"Oh! Calm the fuck down!"
"Is everything alright?"
You both turned to Harry, who was standing by your table again. He was frowning hard, looking suspicious.
"Yeah, everything's fine," you beamed up at him, which made him only more suspicious.
"Okay… Why are you acting weird?"
"I'm not."
"You are."
"I'm not."
He took his seat once more, but the cloud didn't vanish above the table so easily.
Indeed, it only grew darker as Harry's phone vibrated for the fifth time in ten minutes.
"You should call her," you advised, taking a sip of water.
"Who?" Jasmine questioned, even if she knew perfectly well who you were talking about.
"My girlfriend. She can wait though," Harry argued.
"You were supposed to see her tonight, she's right to be pissed."
Harry rolled his eyes.
"She came four times while I was shooting abroad, I haven't seen you in three months! You've just had a big promotion, and she's making a scene because we're spending time together, not because I'm late."
He heaved a frustrated sigh.
"She'll calm down. Or maybe she won't. Not my problem for the moment. For now, you've got to tell me more about this project Mary dragged you into… what kind of sculpture can you do with plants?"
He was dodging the issue, and you let him, answering his questions and letting him brighten the mood around the table once more. You didn't really want to spend your evening with him talking about his girlfriend. You felt like you were a bad friend because of it, being selfish, but somehow, it made you quite sad to think of Jessica. Maybe it was because, once he would be in her flat with her, he wouldn't have time to spend for you anymore.
Tumblr media
You were awakened by your doorbell ringing. When you checked the hour on your clock, it was 1 am.
Who the hell could be at your door at 1 am?!
You dragged yourself out of bed, grabbing a magazine that you rolled to turn it into some kind of weapon.
"Who is it?" you asked through the door.
"It's Harry. Can you open the door?"
You recognized his voice and his accent in a second, and unlocked the door in a hurry.
He looked dishevelled, had a bag in his hand, and his eyes were red as if he had been crying.
He looked miserable.
"What's going on? What happened?" you questioned, moving out of the way to let him in.
He didn't move from the threshold though, looking at your pyjamas.
"I'm sorry, it's real late, isn't it?"
"Yeah, it's 1 am."
"I'm sorry… I just… I didn't feel like being alone right now. You were asleep though."
"It's alright, come in, Harry. What's wrong?"
"I… huh… Jess and I broke up."
"Oh."
"Yeah, 'oh'."
He finally walked inside your flat, dropped his bag by the door, and waited for you to guide him to the couch. It was strange for him to act so uncomfortable around your flat, he had been there dozens of times.
He had never knocked on your door in the middle of the night because he was heartbroken though.
"Sit down, I'm gonna make us some tea, yeah?" you told him with the kindest voice you could muster, and he nodded in agreement.
He seemed stunned more than anything else. You hurried back and forth in the kitchen to get the warm beverage ready, and soon reappeared in the living room with two hot mugs.
"Okay, tell me what happened," you asked, handing him a cup as you took a seat on the couch by his side.
He gave you a bitter smile.
"I don't really know why I act like I'm so upset about it, I reckon we both had it coming. It hasn't felt right for a while."
"Was it because of tonight? Because of our…"
"No, no, it wasn't because of that. It was just an excuse, really. It just… we drifted apart quite a lot these past few months."
"So… are these your things from her place?" you asked, nodding at the bag that rested by the front door.
Harry nodded.
"I… I didn't want to go back to my house. Didn't feel like staying there on my own. I'm sorry to bother you though."
"Don't be stupid, we're friends! That's what friends are here for."
"I told her I wanted to break up," he breathed out after a short silence. "She didn't exactly tried to hold me back and stop me from leaving."
You soothingly rubbed his shoulder, and he found your touch incredibly soothing, no matter how simple your gesture was.
"I don't really know why I'm so upset," he admitted. "I… I genuinely think that it's for the best, we weren't right for each other. I… I didn't… didn't love her enough, I think. Didn't make enough efforts for her…"
"You did buy an awful lot of flowers," you argued with a touch of humour that brough the ghost of a smile to his lips. "And you did try to see her as much as you could."
He shook his head, watching the smoke rise from his cup and vanish in the air.
"No, no I didn't. And I know it. If I really loved her, I would have made sure she would want me to stay. She didn't."
"Maybe you were just… not right for each other. It happens."
"Yeah…"
A tear rolled down his cheek.
"It's okay to be sad," you reassured him. "You've just broken up, even if you know you've made the right choice… it's still sad to say goodbye."
He nodded, sniffing this time.
You gave him a kind smile and opened your arms wide.
"A hug?"
He nodded, letting out a quiet sob, and he let himself fall into your embrace.
You kept him against you, wishing you could just make all his pain disappear right then, wishing there was more that you could do than to simply hold him while he cried. You didn't know how much better he felt now that he was holding you though.
The hug turned into watching a silly rom com on Netflix, but you kept on holding him against you.
He had stopped crying a while ago, and even smiled a couple of times throughout the movie. He didn't speak about Jessica again, and knowing his quiet nature, you reckoned that it was best to let him talk whenever he would be ready.
You reckoned he was good enough to try to make him laugh again.
"I did learn something about you out of this mess though," you said, making him peer up at you from his spot on your shoulder. "I knew you were a little spoon."
And it did make him laugh. After hearing him cry, you had never felt happier to hear this sound.
"I am a little spoon," he admitted.
"I knew it. I was absolutely certain of it."
"You're a big spoon, aren't you?"
You chuckled.
"I guess… I don't know, guess I don't have a preference. But… I don't mind being a big spoon for you."
You exchanged a smile, and he snuggled up against you once more to resume watching the film. A mischievous smile formed on your lips.
"That nickname's gonna stay though, little spoon."
Bloodbound Love/Fluff Drabble
(Jax Matsuo x MC) as a birthday gift for @desiree-pow who loves him.
Tumblr media
(Jax x MC*Amy) in a Choices Bloodbound fanfic.
A/N Happy Birthday Desi! Hope this brightens your day 😊 I am going back to book one and changing up how the two end up taking a step forward in their relationship. Jax deserves a little more love. First part is in first person while the second half is third person.
Since I have no clue who to tag for this pair since this is a first for me, I’ll leave that blank, LOL.
Masterlist
Anytime
Rooftop of Raines Corporation...
He said to call if I ever needed him for anything.
I hesistate pushing the number I had saved in my contacts.
It should be a crime what Jax Matsuo has done to me.
Who knew that when my vampire boss sent me into the pit of hell, aka The Baron's speakeasy, that I would be rescued by a man straight out of my fantasies?
I can still see it. As the Baron's men dragged me away to be imprisoned and I felt the fear nearly choke me, Jax appeared.
My leather jacket clad, shadow warrior moved with a flurry of precision and elegance. His katana made quick work of the few vampires that were in the dim hallway.
Then he grabbed my hand to lead me to safety.
That's all it took. One touch of his hand after risking his life for me was it.
I was in love.
Who wouldn't be?
The next couple of days that followed meeting Jax were spent in constant daydream mode.
I pictured our parting ending differently.
Instead of just a see you around after he offered me his number, I imagined him demanding a payment for saving me. A token of my affection. A chance for me to feel those lips of his. Maybe even a make out session with him losing his shirt.
Sigh.
I'm hopeless. Completely. Utterly. Hopeless.
Just make the call!
I tense as I hear the first couple of rings.
"This is stupid. I'm stupid for doing this. He isn't--"
"Hello?"
I freeze. That sexy voice should be outlawed. No one should sound like that over the phone.
"Hello?" He repeats.
"Hey. Um. It's Amy." I stutter. "I'm not sure if you remember me--"
"I do." I can practically hear the smile that must be forming. "It isn't every night I rescue a girl from The Shrike."
"Ha. Yeah." I drop my head in my hand. My conversation should be given an award for least amount of charm.
A pause follows. "So? Is something wrong?" He asks.
"No. Nothing." I quickly reply. "I um, I was wondering if you had a free night."
"Free night?" He mutters. "For what?"
Oh god. I was already in too deep. No going back now. "To go out. With me."
Can I die of silence? I think it might be possible.
"Go out?" He repeated. "Like a date?"
I slowly nod. "Yeah, I mean, if you want to. We don't have to. We can go out as friends or whatever." Please let a feral kill me and end this awkwardness.
"Oh." He says with a bit of surprise.
Oh? Oh what? Oh she's the one I've been waiting for or oh she has got to be kidding?
"I'd like that." Jax says. "Why don't we meet up after you get off work tonight?"
I scramble to catch my phone before it hits the ground. "Really? I mean, that works for me. I'll um, see you then."
"Bye Amy." He says with suppressed laughter tinging his voice.
"Bye." I can't wipe the goofy smile off my face. He said yes!
***************
The date...
"Where to?" Jax asks as they walked through Central Park.
"Honestly," Amy said, "I only thought of asking you out. The rest didn't seem to matter."
He chuckled and stopped her along a bridge. "About that." He rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm kinda surprised you asked me out."
"Really?" She replied. "I mean, why? Have you seen you?"
Jax colored a bit, adding adorableness to his sexiness. "You work for Raines. He's the handsome, billionaire playboy."
He leaned against the bridge railing, keeping his dark intense eyes on Amy. "I'm the guy that has to live underground to avoid being killed by one of the clan leaders." He shrugged, trying to hide how it bothered him. "I don't really match the kind of people you're around."
Amy rolled her eyes. "I don't match them either."
He snorted and plucked at her cashmere sweater. "Uh huh."
She looked down at her clothes. "My first paycheck went toward rent and a few new outfits so I wouldn't look so out of place at Adrian’s." Amy huffed as she leaned next to him. "I'm still having to live off of Lily's generosity for food for another two weeks."
A grin appeared as he nudged her. "Okay. Maybe I'm not too far out of your league."
She laughed and leaned her head on his shoulder.
His arm slipped around her as they continued down the bridge. "Are you hungry?"
Amy nodded. "I worked through lunch to make sure I could get off on time." And to make up for all my daydreaming.
"I know just the place." Jax led her down a number of streets to a little hole in the wall eatery.
They sat down in a shadowed booth towards the back. Her eyebrows lifted when Jax ordered.
"What?" He asked.
"Do vampires even need to eat food?"
He shook his head. "No, but I still enjoy the flavors."
"Which is better?" Her curiosity bubbled up. "Blood or food?"
"I don't know how to answer that." He lowered his voice. "I need blood to survive yet eating certain foods remind me of being human." Two bowls of yaki udon was placed before them. "This reminds me of cooking with my grandmother."
"You cook?" She asked, wondering how he could possibly become even more perfect.
"I do." Jax's bashful smile held her mesmerized. "Whenever I have a free moment, I make the dishes my grandmother taught me."
"Maybe one day you can cook for me." Amy said a touch hesitantly.
"I'd like that." Jax took another bite before lifting his eyes to hers. "I haven't had anyone around that I would like to share that with."
She grinned. "Sounds like a date."
The rest of the meal consisted of the two sharing bits of their past with one another. Amy asked questions about his role with the Clanless and was fascinated about his description of the Shadow Den.
Jax asked her about the small town she used to live in and what hobbies she was into. He asked her about her family and even delved into more of what she wanted out of life.
Neither wanted the date to end.
Jax insisted on paying and took her hand as they walked out. Amy laced her fingers with his and remained close to his side.
When they made it back to her apartment, the two stood on the front steps of her building staring at one another.
Amy dropped her eyes to his lips. "I had a great time with you tonight."
His lips curved into a smile. "So did I. It was nice not having to fight a monster for once."
She laughed and moved closer to him. "Does this mean there might be a second date in the cards?"
Jax stepped even closer and slipped one arm around her waist. "I think a second date is going to happen." His callused fingers grazed her cheek before slipping into her hair.
Amy stood on her tiptoes and lifted her lips to his.
Their kiss was tender at first but soon grew in heat. Her hands slid into his leather jacket, caressing the muscles that were outlined under his black t-shirt.
Both of his hands were tangled in her hair as his mouth explored her neck. Each little moan and gasp drove him further.
When his tongue traced her jugular, Amy breathlessly whispered his name.
Jax lifted his head and captured her lips again.
Amy's hands drifted down, pressing him even closer than before.
They stilled when Amy's phone rang.
"It's just Lily worried about me being oht so late." She explained, kissing along his stubbled jaw.
Jax took a shuddering breath. "I should be going." He groaned with her caress. "It'll be dawn soon."
Amy's own groan of frustration made him smile. He cupped her face and placed another tender kiss on her lips. His dark eyes held heat.
"Next time, not only will I cook," he smiled against her lips. "I'll make sure we are somewhere private."
"I can't wait." Amy gently bit on his bottom lip.
"I thought I was the vampire." He teased.
She laughed and hugged him tight. "You bring out a different side in me."
"I like it." He whispered. Jax forced his arms to release her and stepped back. "I'll see you soon."
"You better." She watched him back away while fighting her silly grin.
He waved goodbye and disappeared into the darkness.
The Cakes
The bell above the door jingled and announced another customer arriving, and as I turned around I was greeted by quite possibly the tallest man I'd ever seen. He had dark brown hair that matched his eyes, and freckles sprinkled across his face. He spoke with a quiet confidence as he ordered a yellow cake with white and red icing.
"And would you like anything written on your cake sir?"
He flashed a blinding smile as he replied, "Show me your birthday philussy."
My hand hovered above the iPad as I glanced at him from under my eyebrows. He.. he was serious.
"Ok uhh.. you sure?"
"Absolutely."
"Ok... it'll be ready around 4, I'll give you a call when it's done. And can I have a name for the order?"
"Dan Howell"
.........
He arrived about 20 minutes after I called him. Again, the bell on the door jingled and again I was surprised by how tall he was. This time I handed him the cake and as he finished paying I decided to ask him who the cake was for. I didn't know who could ever want a cake like that until I met him.
Dan pulled up a picture of a strikingly attractive young man with black hair and very, very fair skin. He had a goofy grin on his face and was looking at something, or someone, behind the camera with a very loving look.
"His name is Phil. It's his birthday tomorrow."
I raised my eyebrows at him and glanced at what I had written in the cake.
"It's an inside joke," he laughed.
Ah. Well as long as he liked it.
"It was a pleasure doing business with you Dan."
"Thanks, you too."
I never thought I'd see him or Phil again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ One year and almost 5 months later
As I was closing up shop, the bell on the door jingled. One of the tallest people I'd ever seen walked in, brushing his quiff against the doorframe as he ducked to make it inside.
"Hi! How can I help you?"
This guy literally radiated sunshine, and his eyes seemed to capture everything in a childlike excitement.
"Wow, I love your shop. I was hoping you could help me out with a cake. I've gone to 2 shops already and none of them wanted to help."
I quirked an eyebrow up as I wondered what this man could possibly want that 2 other shops couldn't or wouldn't do.
"Thanks! I'll see what I can do. What did you have in mind?"
He listed out that he wanted a rainbow layer cake, with baby blue icing and a rainbow on the top with clouds. What he wanted underneath in writing was "Big D's Big B". It made me remember a man who came in last year, and as I looked at the man in front of me he began to look vaguely familiar.
"Sure, I can do that. It's certainly not the weirdest thing I've put on a cake. I had a guy come in last year wanting "show me your birthday philussy" on his. I'll never forget making that one. Explaining it to my co-...why are you looking at me like that?"
The man was gaping at me and his eyes were beginning to crinkle as he laughed.
"What? What'd I miss?"
As he finished laughing he then told me, "That cake was for me, it was my birthday. I had one hell of a time explaining it to my parents."
Instantly, I placed his face. "Oh my god! Phil! Dan showed me a picture of who the cake was for and when you walked in I knew I'd seen you from somewhere!"
We both laughed for a moment before I had to continue putting the order in.
"I'm guessing this is revenge for the philussy cake?"
"Yep!" He said, popping the 'p', "It's rainbow because he just came out and it's his birthday, and I wanted to get him something special."
.........
Just like Dan, Phil showed up about 20 minutes after I called him, paid for the cake and as I hit 'print receipt' I asked, "Hey I know this is a weird request but do you have a picture of Dan? I'd like to see him."
Phil smiled, lighting up the room.
"Sure, one sec."
A moment later he pulled up a picture of Dan grinning at something, or someone, off camera with a deep dimple in his cheek and his eyes bright.
Phil chuckled and told me that their fans had named the dimple Derek, and when I looked up at him in confusion he told me they were youtubers.
I grinned and then pulled the receipt out. "Tell him congratulations and happy birthday for me please."
He grinned, told me he would and walked out, the bell protesting as the door closed behind him, and he walked up the street.
