obligatory im stuck in the 2015 era of the creepypasta fandom and ive been mulling over this sort of approach in my head for the past month because i revisited an old slenderman x oc fanfic that had a death grip on me and shaped the way i will interact with + and consume creepypasta stuff for the sake of saving grace and not revealing HOW cringe i was im not going to drop the fanfic name (unless yall dm me because!! i still wanna support the author even if it seems theyre inactive now!) i blame this author for making me a demon sympathizer/j/lh written kinda different than my basic bullet list of hcs! got silly with this one, sorry if its jarring compared to my usual stuff </3 this post is mostly just my hc on like. slender (and by extension all demon characters) being neutral and a simple part of nature that stems from zalgo (yay im finally dropping zalgo lore for my au since he functions differently in my au/hc!!) so take this with a HUGE grain of salt since i feel this deters from the main take people use (that ive seen, at least) this one ended up being more.. sad than i first intended and imma be honest i kinda got into my feelings when i was writing this anywaus i hope this isnt too cringe since i dont talk much about my HUGEhcs/au stuff/rewritten stuff so!! plus i dont usually write BIG detailed stuff like this sobsob tldr; slenderman isnt good or evil hes just a neutral piece of nature in the world and hes trying to cope with it. the demon gods really fucked up by making him sentient and able to process human like emotions

death is a force of nature and people curse it for simply being a part of life; people curse wild animals for being, and people will curse the weather

in this universe, or timeline, demons exist in a similar manner. slenderman exists simply because hes a part of that huge web of nature. of course, that includes every single ugly instinct that humans hate so so much. and he can understand why, even if its his nature.

the one responsible for that web, is zalgo. the beginning and end of everything. neither alive nor dead, all demons stem from zalgo in one way or another.

a solitary creature that prefers to stay alone in the comfort of its home, it doesnt tend to reach out to harm others unless theres harm. only really attacking people that threaten to expose it or get too close...

except, you... you were the one exception. regardless of how you managed to worm yourself into his heart, and become his lifelong companion, hes grateful for your presence when things begin to build up.

he knows that in the eyes of others, he ugly and vile, but he knows that ultimately thats what protects him. he insists that its better this way, sticking to the forest away from the prying eyes.

SURE, he could follow in his brothers footsteps and make a false human body and try to blend in with the people. but is that really efficient? is that really something he wants? hes a powerful being but that would eventually take its toll on him..

ultimately he resigns himself into your arms; once oozing powerful and command, now crumpled and curled.

he never had a childhood, when zalgo created him, he simply.

was

no adolescence, no developing, no growing. he was always what he was meant to be, but he likes to think that when youre holding him, that this is what it feels like to be so small and vulnerable.

humans had it so easy, hed think. theyre born and they die and the process repeats itself for everyone. they dont have to be feared or hated, or kill to survive.

yes, to him, being mortal was far more preferable to being condemned to being a lonely hermit who corrupts and breaks everything it touches.

even with your comfort, theres only so much that you can do; youll eventually pass on as well and hell be stuck in his cycle once more

but for now, as you hum softly and whisper nothings to him as you let him crumble; hell let himself weep just this once.

because as much as he envies your life, and what humans have, he cant deny that he cant bring himself to truly hate them, because like him, theyre simply a piece of natures web.

It has been quite a while since the last TFF post, hasn't it?

Aha. Ha. My bad. I've been focusing on posting stuff for another fandom because there's literally nothing there. Practically nothing. But I'd digress. This is a TFF post.

And its still about Bryan. Yeah. Not really confident drawing the others. Still trying to find an artstyle for the animatronics because I'm still not happy with how I draw them so no animatronics anytime soon.

Trying to write ITH rn. I have an idea for chapter 3 but I haven't gone to actually writing it so maybe its not going so well. I'll get around it, eventually.

It occurs to me that we never saw kris or suzy in the epilogue (though I think the latter was mentioned once? Idk). Did uh… are they doing decently?

// the darkworld arc had been abandoned/retconned. while there IS a UT-universe version of Kris and Susie (assuming Frisk isn't Kris in UT, tho Kris is still very much their own person regardless) in AFR, we will only know Susie in the redraw. (again... assuming UT Susie is Suzy and not a sister like the catty and catti situation.)

x-x we just know too little about DR we don't even know how the universes mirror each other and the timelines are all WHACK. its a nightmare to write for or even theorize about. i esp dont wanna think about how they'd change in the time skips of AFR.

anyway in the redraw we'll see a LOT more of Susie as Frisk's whole journey is about befriending her. i didn't add her and MK into the epilogue because we need a proper foundation that the redraw will provide. at that point, my Susie would diverge from canon Suzy heavily as her story would be quite different.

So. My original plan for the rewrite was for Gaster and Riverperson to have worked together in the prime timeline. then gaster got yeeted from time, leaving his work behind. Then, Chara would run away to the underground looking for a purpose and an escape from Asriel's BS and the island. (though, thinking on it, logically Mt.Ebott wouldn't be on monsterland... as that's exiled from humanity. so idk about that anyway)

Anyway exploring true lab Chara accidently uncovers an artificial darkworld and gets stuck as a ghostly narrator again, this time as a cherub with Feylow. Frisk, Susie and MK would be the party and they'd have to make their way home together. I've heavily considered this portion being a fangame-only material, for better play-value.

The story itself can keep gaster to a bare minimum. The guy is scattered across time. he's not directly involved at all. at most we know he did SOMETHING to chara in the prime timeline with their soul and now things are on the fritz (what caused this AU) up until fake DW, where they're possessed again.

I just don't want to play with DR canon at all anymore. darkworlds are inherently going to tie into that. and granted, in UT canon there's entry #17 that implies a growing darkness... it's not a stretch that Gaster could of done this. And he DID have a DT extractor, and the timeline is vague but the similar wording (and how old the core is) could imply he was around Chara's time. None of this is a stretch

buuuut working with Darkworld, even if it's a fake one, is too close to DR canon and we just don't know much yet. when i first did the darkworld, i thought it'd be a fun excursion into the same chapter 1 area... but i got too into the improv and imagination side of things without understanding the original at all. (and bad improv) it didn't really hit me that DR was it's own game and lore until Chapter 2, and I realized just how early on we are into that game's story.

I just... I can work with what I've got, I can avoid DR canon as much as I can but ultimately, I'm working with 2/7ths worth of puzzle pieces.

I don't wanna do any of this. Gaster used to be a "free for all" in the fandom to do whatever timeline/lore thing you wanted to pull of cause he was free real-estate. but now DR is treating him more and more as a character and I don't wanna touch the guy as he's going to be jossing the story.

idk what to do in all honesty. The darkworld portion IS important, Chara goes through major character development that the Continue Arc is built on. But I've been struggling with Feylow as a concept, and well, this. what the hell am I going to do.

It’s amazing how much Nosferatu became an integral part of SpongeBob lore. Especially since he was just a gag character for the ending of the night shift episode. He even appeared as a character in the CGI Camp series as a younger version of himself. Why the recent interest?

I've grown to LOVE Nosferatu! Outside of the fact that he's a blorbo by association to Slappy. Slappy supremacy 🙏

I just think he's neat.

I remember some thing on twitter where SB fans were complaining about the show reusing old characters like Nosferatu and Granny Prunes but honestly SB fans on twitter are kinda annoying to begin with and will complain about anything. I couldn't care less, gimme more German expressionist characters <3 <3

Jokes aside. Idk I've grown really fond of Nosey. He's just a silly guy. Outside of flickering the light switch on and off, he has a funny life. His ship never made it to Wismar and he ended up stuck underwater. Now he has a dorky fish butler and a son and he lives a relatively mundane life. He's the nightshift manager at the Krusty krab, hes a single dad, he writes screenplays sometimes, he promoted products. He auditions. He even did an interview once.

Its weird but funny. The first vampire in cinema and the first (unofficial) adaptation of dracula is just some guy chilling with fishes and living his life. He seems pretty content with things and I like that. He's what I aspire to be <3 ((NOT BALD))

As for the show, spongebob the show is trying to build continuity. Idk why but it's been since the beginning of the post secondary movie era and the tidal zone shenanigans. Its more likely to reference locations and old characters every so often. Some people complain that its trying to milk nostalgia but honestly I think they're just trying to make the world more connected and cohesive. people complain when the show does literally anything, they complain about old characters being used but they also hate the new characters so it really doesn't matter.

I personally love the direction the show is currently in. Its fun, I like how they expand on some characters and they all have their own little thing going on. I also like Nosferatu specifically because of how absurd it is to have a German expressionist movie character existing in a childrens show. People say it ruins his original gag because it was supposed to be random but Nosferatu being a regular character on it's own is random. This dude was spreading his plague to Wisborg, now he pulls pranks underwater by flickering the lights. He has a morally decent fish Dr. Caligari as his primary care physician. It's funny.

Also you mentioned there's a kid version of Nosferatu in Kamp Koral. That's not a child nosferatu. That is The child OF Nosferatu. I wonder who conceived Kidferatu? Idk but its funny that Nosey is a single dad working to support his kid. In Squidferatu you can see a framed picture of his son in the background :D (I really want to see Slappy being a good nanny to Kidferatu. Please please PLEASE)

I love the episode Graveyard Shift and I love his reappearance in The Night Patty. I always liked this weird guy but I only became invested once he got associated with Slappy. I think once the synopsis of Slappy Daze dropped and it revealed Slappy being nosferatu's butler was when I became obsessed and watched every nosferatu/dracula adaptation (don't ask, I comb through things fast. Also I liked vampire media years before this but this took an existing interested and pushed it to obsession lol)

Also watching the 1979 adaption of Nosferatu in particular gave me brain worms. I was like "....he kinda bad tho" I'm trying hard not to say I've begun to simp for him but I am 👉👈 I'm mildly disgusted with myself but its also like. I kinda like him more than what I should. I sorta want to slap myself for such a weird thing because REALLY look at him. But I can't help but like it. Ughhhhh. I wanna grab his big nose. I like to imagine it'll honk like a clown's nose.

It doesn't help that he's so silly in Spongebob like that's not helping at all😭

Obviously I prefer Slappy because he's my murder bby but I also think Nosferatu could get it as well.

So yeah. In other news, I preordered the super7 nosferatu figurine. I cant wait to get it. But idk the NECA nosferatu figurine looks better. It was also cheaper. Idk its too late now to change anything. I am still quite happy. I want to make that Nosferatu a proud supportive dad to my Draculaura doll :)

Beth had no idea what had happened. Yesterday she was just at the club, and now she's in limbo. God damn it, she had to talk to Lennon.

Lennon wasn't bad, it was his outfit. It was obnoxious, especially since he wore that by choice. Of course, she had nothing against him wearing feminine clothes. But the translucent shirt, belt, shorts, fishnets, and thigh-high boots daily were slowly becoming more annoying.

She didn't really want to talk to him, but she had to. Or else she'd be stuck in limbo forever.

And maybe Lennon could make her, maybe, less dead? She didn't know.

But what she did know was that she didn't want to stay here longer than she had to.

Lennon was at his desk. The one that had the two stamps on it. The one that had all the papers. He didn't even use the paper, he slammed the stamps on the souls' foreheads. Beth thought it was rude, but it wasn't her job.

Lennon squinted at her.

"Ah, hell, another one?" He mumbled a slur to himself before realizing it was Beth. "W-wait, is that really you?"

"Of course, it's really me, dipshit." Beth retorted. She was not in the mood.

"Woah, calm the hell down, no need to be so hostile." Lennon raised his eyebrow at her. "Well, why are you here anyway? Aren't you only, like, 25 or something?"

Beth sighed at Lennon. He rolled his eyes at her. "I'm almost 30, Lennon. 28, actually."

"28?!" Lennon repeated, surprised. "You don't look 28. You look, ehh, 25."

"Was that a compliment, or are you just insistent on saying I'm 25?" Beth smirked slightly. "Are you flirting with me?"

"Of course not, dumbass," He snapped back. "I know you're lesbian, and I know I like someone else."

Beth looked surprised for a moment, before she began grinning. "Ooh, you like someone?" She chuckled. "Who's the lucky one? Gwebes? Niki? Who?"

"N-no. It's... uh..." Lennon sighed. "Awh, why am I telling you anyway? Not like you'd care."

"I don't care. But I still wanna know."

He took a deep breath. "It's Monica, okay?"

Beth tried to suppress a laugh. "Monica? You mean the girl from that little nobody village?"

"That's not what it is!" Lennon was growing more defensive over Monica. Beth didn't get it. She was just a village girl, so what did Lennon, an immortal being, see in her?

"What is it, then?"

"Sootford. It's the village of Sootford."

"Uh-huh." Beth nodded. "Like I said, a nobody village."

"Stop calling it that, dammit!" Lennon snapped. "We're getting off-topic. What matters is that you died, and now I have to send you to Heaven or Hell."

"Um, Lennon, actually, was wondering..." Beth started, somewhat nervously. "... could ya maybe... make me not dead?"

"Not dead?" He chuckled before leaning closer. "Well, I could. But! It'll cost you."

"Cost me what?" She asked him skeptically.

"I want you to go down to Sootford, and bring me Monica."

One post gotta be the first

So, for me Reddit finally died. As a programmer who is generally in favour of making stuff available for as many people as possible, they did right by that for many years. Giving everyone who wanted that access to it was generous of them, and made it a very fun platform. Random bots everywhere, apps catered to whatever preference people had, even -dare I say it- the tiniest bit of the wild-west-internet that once existed. But they got to greedy, flew to close to the sun, whatever analogy you want to have for it. I don't fault them wanting to make money off that, hosting is expensive, but the way they lied to everyone, attacked the Apollo developer for outing their lies, "riding the storm until it died out", it was too much.

So now I'm here, hopelessly lost in land I only got glimpses of on r/tumblr. I don't even know why I write this. I doubt many people will read it, or even see it. It's my first Tumblr post, and it probably will be very rambly, incoherent, and missing any kind of red line. The shortest answer to "Why I wrote this?" is probably "Because some google doc in '#tumblr help'" told me to post stuff!".

And I'm bad at posting stuff. I never done it. In the olden days, when forums were all around, I was a lurker. I'd read about everything, posted when I actually had something relevant to say, and shut up otherwise. I was known within the communities, generally active in the adjacent msn/skype groups, but not on the main spam threads in the forum.

When the forums began to die out, I got on Reddit. My account is 11 years old now, I've been using it almost hourly over the last 6 years, and it has a grand total of 9 posts. There's a bit more comments in that, but it's probably basically nothing compared to the average comments per hour spend on other accounts.

Why do I tell this? Because I might change that here. I've been lurking around Tumblr for the last few weeks, and the interaction and people are way different than I'm used to. Honestly, it's refreshing, and nice to see. But entering a new environment, one has to adept.

And I've been stuck too long in my old habits! I am often hesitant to contribute to anything, because I never did. I don't write, because I never wrote. But having a new environment, new people, new interest around me makes me wanna try out new stuff. And who knows? Maybe I'll like it, maybe I'll find people who like what I write, and I'll have more stuff to interact with.

And maybe I don't. Maybe I'll feel too unsure, too self-conscious, to change my lurking habits. I'm fine with that. I got other places to interact about my passions. Most of them are through Discord-groups nowadays, others through the few still-existing actual forums out there, but they still exist.

That's my last thing. I don't know what I even write about. Some of my interest are too different from the usual Tumblr-niches to have any kind of following. While typing this I had a look at the "enlisted game" tag, which has a grand total of 1 active poster. I had some looks at the different Magic the Gathering tags, but (as I expected), most of the people in there are about more about the lore of the game than I do. That's fine, I got my spike-talking places, and I will probably lurk those tags anyway.

The one place I'll probably feel most comfortable is the Brandon Sanderson-aligned tags. I'll be there, maybe even contributing, once I finished the last books (or I find the appropriate tags to block, I probably gotta look into that).

That uncertainty makes me circle back to a point a made a few paragraphs ago. I can explore, I can try out new stuff. Maybe I'll try to add to some of the punk tags here, maybe I'll hop onto some of the computer science tags and see if I can wordvomit there, maybe I'll go to something completely new! I can go exploring again, discovering things I never saw before, and that makes me eager.

Hello! I've been wanting to ask you this for some time now... who is that Mika guy you talk about? Is it the anime cartoon thing you post sometimes? Is it a videogame? A comic? Why do you like him so much?

It makes me feel old haha because it is completely out of all the other fandom things I see around and I'm super confused, as if it came from a different universe lol

But yeah, Mika is from a mobile rhythm game! It's p much a rhythm game like any other, tho it being a "free" mobile game, it does have gacha mechanics </3 it's fun tho and Mika is my Absolute Fave because he's just so [holds him gently] [proceeds to squeeze him until his eyes pop out]

We had a survey that asked the same question of "why is your fave your fave" and it really is smth i could write essays on, but, to keep it short, he's a Freak and i do love creepy wet freaks in fiction. He has read the Mabinogion in middle English, but doesn't know who Chaplin is. He loves horror movies and is said to draw eroguro. He dumpsterdives in his free time, finding thrown away plushies, mending them and keeping them. All of his pajamas are similarly just clothes he got out of the rubbish and mended (thrifty king tbh) He speaks in a dialect commonly associated with comedians and considered a "hick" dialect and he's often talked about the split between what people expect him to act like (funnyman extrovert) vs how he actually is (shy introvert) and how he ends up looking because of that (aloof/stuck up). He is simply everything to me. And he's so weird... 😭💞 he thought he accidentally killed his roommate and proceeded to almost bury him alive in the dorm courtyard. Has said he sleeps better after looking at "scary pictures"😭

He's just my little meow meow tbh he likes creepy-cute and even he himself has that sort of gap going on, bc he's generally a rather adorable guy, he made a brooch for his best friend bc she wasn't able to buy one she liked, he really wants to prove himself as an artist both in terms of music and designing/sewing and he seems to be growing a spine as of recent (i don't wanna like. Confuse you by bringing up lore, but it's also one of the things that have me going heart eyes, in early stories he was fine being treated like a doll to be puppeteered, but he's "learning to be human" as of recent and has made really good steps, incl yelling at and threatening to throw away his former puppeteer's prized possession + implying he'll beat him up bc he threw away smth of his without asking), but he's also had those moments of "what the hell" like when he threatened to either kill himself or his unitmate's future spouse if he ever gets married, or when he threw a tantrum because said unitmate was paying more attention to a literal 15yo than him.

I think he's neat tbh a combination of his aesthetic being creepy-cute, his unit's aesthetic leaning into steampunk (both of which are so 💞💞 to me), him being a dialect-speaker, and then the fact that he's the "aww he's so cute [gets to know him] oh he's a little bit fucked up" type just really appeals to me. And his hidden intellect, there's a lotta moments where you can just tell that he's Actually Intelligent, but he's the first who'll say stuff like "sorry i dropped my brains somewhere" and call himself dumb. Personally, I interpret it as either him leaning into stereotypes associated with his dialect considering the "i feel like i let people down when they find out what i'm like bc they expect me to be totally diff bc of the way i speak" or him not liking having responsibilities so he tries to "i'm too dumb to do this on my own" his way out of the possibility of disappointing people by failing.

detail. foreshadowing. outlandish things galore. you could give me an inanimate, random household item and i'd probably come up with a rlly intricate backstory for it.

hmmm the only other language i'm fluent in is spanish but none of the characters i write speak it so,,,, valryian is rlly the only language i write dialogue in for fics but that's generated through a translator so eh. things get lost in translation or don't come across with the initial intended meaning. at first, i used to think high valryian was such a nice, intimate undertone for fics but now as someone writing the dialogue and sourcing the translations-- i've become a bit immune. i just use it for plot reasons now.

I want to learn more about bee's twin sibling! oh, what would be the team prime's reaction that bee has a sibling? or bee himself for that matter! I'm guessing that they got separated when they were forged so he probably doesn't remember 'em.

Yeah those are ideas that are temporary- there's not much in-depth lore about them. (i lie as i write this post)

For the lost-sibbling this i imagine her name would be Mantis- she looks exactly like Bumblebee except she has lashes and ever-so-slightly more feminine figure. Really hard to spot the difference. Even their voices sound very similar. I had two ideas about this- she's either just like Bee but more mean and " i will fight you no matter what", or a total opposite- she seems too nice to be a 'con, she's relaxed and laid back- sleepy in mannerism almost. Still she's smarter than Bee- most of the time.

They got separated when they got forged and Bee had the whole story with the bad carequarters, Mantis was the lucky one. Since Bee is an autobot, it's obvious she's a Decepticon. She's a secret scout/in-terrain spy, unlike Bee she did pass and got into higher con ranks. She matches Blitzwing in rank even. barely anyone knows about her existace- since she is so small similar to an autobot it's easier for her to blend in. I imagine she has blue glass to attach to her optics, like contacts, and a magnetic autobot logo to stick on top of her Decepticon one to really get in ther autobot act.

As for the reactions: Bee met her when he was investigating some suspicious activity. They look at each other before saying lines like "you look like me" and "who are you?" before Mantis says time and place and the he has to come alone and runs off. Bee doesn't tell them about the weird bot and meets her in the spot- thru sharing their sparkling hood experiences, few of the facts match up and they come to a conclusion they are family. From then on Mantis and Bee pull pranks on the autobots. It's hilarious.

I imagine it's heckton of trouble if BlitzBee takes place. Mantis is stuck with this Switcharoo following her with puppy-love optics and Bee is constantly dealing with drama cuz 'he' did something. Then later i imagine she joins the autobot repair crew cuz they're nice and ooh boy it's Sentinel's worst nightmare. Bee has duplicated- well not really, i imagine she would get a deep blue paint with white stripes to contrast her brother. and that this big love-fool stops going after her by accident.

I imagine if anyone would know about Mantis when she's Decepticon from the Autobots it would be Jettwins- they're also twins, and they do mess around behind Jazz's back so they get it. Those 4 are absolute menaces together. Speaking of- Bee and Mantis got the 'twin powers' like the jets. They can finish each other sentences, guess what the other is thinking perfectly, etc.

For the Bee becomes Decepticon- it's basically after a few of "do this - but i don't wanna plus it's dangerous - don't care, do as i say" missions and learning that 'cons are not so bad and just want eqality he finally snaps and runs away, joining the Decepticons. And so, he helps them get the Allspark and win the war- the repair crew stays just a repair crew, unknown to them Bee has made Megatron not kill them and leave them to their actual job instead cuz they are good at it.

Sari steps in Bee's place and Prowl doesn't die and they're all traveling from place to place doing their thing and getting paid. Until one time they get assigned to a project and travel to some secluded part of Cybertron where there is a new colony building and they have to build a space bridge from scratch. Then they recognize their missing's friend voice coiming from a black-colored mech with yellow accents and slightly orange gradient to them. it is Bumblebee, rocking that Decepticon insignia with deep lavender optics to match. His horns are bigger and he got heels along with those shoulder-guards he had in his cybertron alt mode.

And so he is their boss for the entire time they are in the area- he was chosen to monitor the construction of this building, which is really massive. They have some beef along the way, but they learn Bee hasn't become a tyrant- they learn from a long-time guard about how Bee has chimed his 5 cents to the new work regulations- higher pays, better temporary-quarters and treatment. Anyone who'll treat the workers poorly or talk down to them will be send to his office and most likely be stripped of a job. It's a strict code but it's very good- the situation in the ranks has changed drastically for good since he got in charge. He is both feared and respected. They also learn that the building will be the future Carequarters- they know Bee was raised in a very bad Carequarters, they are surprised but they can't help but smile at the fact Bee is trying his best for the better future.

One time there was an accident on the site and Bee rushed to get Ratchet cuz their actual medic was off to do something in the one of the major cities. Ratchet got assigned to be the medic til the end of the project. Bulkhead also gets a side offer to paint the play area and Prowl helps him and there's just a beautiful colorful flower-field pattern, it also helps that the center play-area is stylized to mimic earth's tree. It's truly amazing. But of course, something has to go wrong- there's the final meeting with all of the workers with Bee giving a really good speech about how he's glad they managed to pull this off and give the next generation a better future then all of a sudden the walls crumble-

A raid of Autobot escapees led by Sentinel breaks in and steal what they can. The workers are injured, guards are killed and Sentinel is surprised to see Optimus there and tries to pull him into the rebellion- Sentinel gets his aft handed back to him by Bee with his electrocuting staff (all the training paid off finally) and the group is arrested, the ones who managed to run are stopped by other Decepticons. Now Bee is devastated, so much work down the drain, he unintentionally snaps at Sari and others as he goes back to his office to cry. He contacts Megatron about it and his Conjunx Blitzwing is sent to aid with the security while the workers are basically starting over with the building. Only then the earth autobots learn that Bee is with Blitzwing. So the construction is being complete again, Bee is anxious something is gonna happen again but Blitz is there to reassure him about everything.

Again, he gives the speech and then Megatron himself comes to look everything over before the grand opening and Bee compliments how good of a job his workers have done- the space bridge crew especially. The place is open and everyone goes home. Not before Bee goes over to talk with his old team tho- he thanks them and they don't have to reffer to him as 'sir' anymore. When they get on their ship they are surprised to see gifts for each of them with a note saying "Bonus for the fast work!" I imagine they meet for few other projects and then regain contact as friends. Bee helps them out whenever he can and invites them to major events.

but no really, like okay here's the thing, and I've said this a few times so I don't want to say it again LOL but obviously everyone can read the same book and we all come out with different ideas about what it meant, based on our lived experiences and tastes, and I think we all knew that the books needed some updates. Not just because they're way too whacky and nonlinear to work smoothly as a TV series, but because there's a lot of outdated tropes & -isms that weren't going to fly.

And like the convergence of those two concepts means that we're gonna get one team's version of the books and also one team's opinion on what needs to be updated.

Like don't get me wrong because Marius is my favorite character in VC (and one of my fav characters in anything ever tbh) but I like him because he's fucking reprehensible. And I would've liked to see a version of him where he's just as charming and soothing and "wise" but where there's no ambiguity about the harm he causes. And like I don't wanna get too deep on Marius meta on a post about RJ & AMC but I think there's a lot of author intent to consider about Marius in the later books and whether or not Anne ever intended to hold him accountable or if she got bored and wanted to write fanfic by the end. That type of inconsistency might be something worth "updating" or worth exploring in a visual medium where we aren't stuck strictly to the interior of someone's POV, and the show is clearly expressing that it wants to play with POVs.

But we all know the types of like, sort of casual surface fans who just enjoy Marius and buy into his bullshit and don't see the harm he's caused, and don't see that he's actually fucking diabolical. I would argue that a lot of these are the same fans who do this to Lestat lmao. (He is, after all, MiniMarius.)

And I'm having a hard time reading what RJ will think of him. On one hand, so many of the decisions made to update the text have been just, overwhelmingly like cishet middle aged white guy decisions. That's exactly Marius's type LMAO. I wouldn't be surprised if they thought he was a saint and portrayed him as a saint, especially bc LET'S BE FUCKING HONEST I don't think they've actually done good research into the entire series, so like he's not thaaaaat bad yet in the trilogy. (There's signs, but, I think we all agree he becomes especially potent in TVA.)

On the other hand!!!!!!!! They've really turned Lestat's abusive behavior up to fucking 3578193587135 so like. Maybe they get it? (tbh I'm still having a hard time sussing out what they intended to be abusive and what they didn't, though. Fucking yikes lmao.)

Plus the lore is so fucking shoddy on AMC I'm curious like what kind of goofy nonsense they'll come up with to create a power imbalance when like idk it feels like all vampires have all powers or some shit like what is Marius going to be able to hold over these guys to impress them?

I also feel like it's hard to gauge what they're squeamish about and what are their standards; ie: aging Claudia up at a glance was OH OKAY SURE LESS GROSS STUFF, but then in reality it was LETS MAKE HER 18 IN LIKE 5 MINUTES AND HAVE HER HYMEN GROW BACK EVERY TIME HER LIL 14 YEAR OLD BODY HAS SEX.

And then in one of the panels RJ made like a kinda dismissive/grossed out comment about Lestat/Gabrielle?

idk man like, update if you need to but I feel like maybe don't commandeer this project if these topics make you squeamish LMAO.

So would they lean into Marius/Armand being predatory? Would they age Armand up so it's not as gross? Will Marius be a saint or will he be so over the top fucking disgusting that he's the no. 1 villain of the show?! Will Armand be aged up but they'll still find a way to make it fucked up?!

It's so hard to say based on RJ's opinions on sexual assault in fiction; like I could see him leaning into it for the shock factor but I could also see him so blithely misreading it that he doesn't see it as an issue in the book at all. Especially because Armand's experience of it doesn't fit neatly into RJ's whole "rape makes you tougher" trope since Armand doesn't ask the reader to think of it as rape. I just worry that this man has such a disconnect with this topic that he wouldn't really see it in the text, idk.

Anyway whew who knows, alls I know is I don't want them to even involve anyone else from canon I cannot stomach this LMAO. I have to keep reminding myself not to dismiss this man/this team as misunderstanding the text because they're educated professionals and keep reminding myself that this is deliberate because they do not care and in the end this is a corporate cash grab and not an artistic project made for us LMAO. And they're already so fucking far off the mark of the books anyway I don't think it's possible to make predictions at all.

I wanna talk about some of the things I've realized in my absence BUT. I AM FEELING so much better now! I hope all of you are doing well, too! I might be slow to kinda get back into things and I'm gonna be... well okay, lemme just address some stuff via bullet point list.

I don't wanna talk about the lore finales (not because of their quality or my opinions, but just because I do NOT NEED the stress of discourse in my life right now.)

I'm trying to just avoid discourse for now in general (for a specific personal reason, not because I think it's inherently bad or that no one should engage in it ever)

please be nice to me I'm only just starting to come back from a real bad place mentally

I'm gonna write up a separate post under a read more talking about some of the stuff I realized but the basic gist is like. I realized that due to a lot of other stuff going on, I let myself get into a really, really unhealthy mindset with how I engaged with dsmp fandom and how I let it affect me, so for now while I do still enjoy talking about that story and characters, I am gonna try to keep myself out of like... getting lost in the sauce going in depth with debates over it or discourse surrounding it, and I'm keeping arm's length from discussing any certain creators in depth (except ranboo bc of course.) This is just... entirely for my own good and has no reflection on how I feel about other people discussing this stuff! I just, as I said before I left, can't do that right now personally.

Before I even respond to the details this is just. The whole world sounds so cool I am already 100% invested in this and would read a book about this /gen. Please don't worry about being confusing or anything, I can always ask questions!! It lets me learn more about the world! And i don't think any of what you said is cringey at all nor would I say it is. Like I do the same things you're talking about I am right there with you!

I am very eagerly sitting in front of the whiteboard as you aggressively write on it. And no problem cutting it out! I know what you mean about it being personal--I've actually never told anyone anything about my own paracosm before because they (the characters) are very important to me and it's like they're a part of me, so it's very vulnerable

Dystopian fantasy/fantasy horror is such a fun genre!! Fun as in interesting. I love different takes on fantasy elements, like magic being bad. There's so much to look at and consider and ways things can be spun. Also the no religion thing makes sense; mine doesn't have a religion either.

Also!! Love the dollhouse comparison. I do the same thing but I've never thought of a word to describe or explain it. My paracosm doesn't have like one true "canon" series of events, it's got a mostly solid foundation/backstory, and then from there I just take the characters and put them in different situations. A few years ago I'd get annoyed with myself for diverging from the "canon" and being unable to decide what happened until I had the revelation that it's a fantasy story in my head and there doesn't need to be one storyline with a concrete ending. Contradictory divergences can exist at the same time and it doesn't matter, because I'm having fun with my characters! I can literally remember the moment i had the revelation it was excellent. The dream thing you mentioned sounds really interesting--what do you mean by interact? Are they just exchanging words or can they like visualize each other and it's like they're awake? Do they naturally reach out to each other or do they have to choose to interact? I would ask questions about who the person they reach out to is but I don't know anything to my question is just: who are they reaching out to? I'm very curious about all this

OO The Shell. I love that! Is there a reason for the name? Not asking because I think it's cringey, but because sometimes names have meanings that tell you more about the thing and I'm curious if that's the case with this one. I mean I can't judge you at all my character's house (which is also an entire universe/plane of existence? it's weird like that) they just call Mother. I don't even know where that name came from or why it stuck but it's there now. But back to The Shell! How did it get closed off from everything? Are there people who control that or is The Shell like...it's own ruler? I don't know if that made sense hang on. You know those stories with places that are like...alive but in an inanimate way? Like "the woods are alive and they're watching you and they know you" but it's not like capable of thought or speech but it's definitely not a normal forest. That otherworldy kinda thing, is that what The Shell is like? Did the person who created it like imbue magic into the place or is it more mechanical in nature and not like my living forest example?

Asterope! How is that pronounced? I wanna get it right. Right now I'm reading it as uh-stair-oh-pea, but no clue if that's right. Oo!! Lore!! I wonder why the person created The Shell, like what the motivation was. Wait what's the timeline for this (if there is one)? How many years after it's creation does the escape open up? Also have many questions about leaving in general. What does it mean to glitch out of The Shell and how common is it? This whole thing also makes it sound like The Shell is not a place you want to be--is that just because they've been taken from their homes/lives or is it because there's something about the place itself that's bad?

You say it was "originally" created to be a safe haven, but that implies that it might not be a safe haven anymore. I am so curious about this hang on. So Asterope finds miserable people who'd be willing to abandon their lives because it need consent to take them (I like that detail)--what kind of world/worlds does Asterope get people from? Is The Shell like an offset of our world and it comes into ours to take them there? Or is it taking people from completely fictitious worlds? Either way it's very interesting--I also love the detail about the glitch, coming back to the same person again and again. Must be wild for that person like "wow I'm so miserable this thing can't leave me alone."

I think it's ironic that you mentioned glitching a few times and now tumblr is glitching for you, but this is seriously super interesting I love dystopian fantasy horror things. Please tell me as much about this world and the characters as you would like to, and I may occasionally respond with a few details about my own paracosm. I said like one thing about it but that's still more than I've told anyone ever before (I'm not exaggerating). I'd love to learn about the intimidating being and her 15 orphans and the creator of The Shell and everything about the world!!

Favorite thing to cook/bake: Hmm. Probably devil's food cake or chocolate chip cookies. The former because it's to die for and the latter because they're super easy. I like making lots of stuff though.

Favorite craft to do in your free time: Well if writing counts, that, I do origami sometimes when I'm bored and I've been trying to get into embroidery...

Most niche dislike: Bad history teachers, specifically. More than any other subject to me, a history teacher makes or breaks the class, and even I who loves history will grow to hate it.

Opinion on circuses: I haven't been to one since I was six, and barely remember it. I remember thinking it was pretty cool- the acrobats are definitely a highlight, but I'm glad that less circuses are using animals now.

Do you have any sense of direction? ...A little. A very little. I can figure out NESW via the sun and can sorta recognize how to get to places I'm very familiar with but. Yeah. GPS is a wonderful thing.

Tell us about your D&D character(s): HAHAHAHA!!! INFODUMP TIME!!!

Kaelind Siankiir-Kranuv: Half-elf Bard/Cleric (College of Lore/Life domain), my perfect angel of do no harm take no shit. She's got wanderlust and a tendency to never fit in, made worse by her setting, but she's shockingly well adjusted overall. Her backstory is very jack of all tradesy- her parents traveled for her mother's seasonal dock-work and her father's scholarly odd-jobs, she was involved in both of those and music from a young age, she became a cleric bc her mother was healed by one after a serious accident. She actually isn't a cleric to her primary deity (his domain is mostly music) so her service has some interesting warlock-pact undertones since she is doing it for power, even if that power is intended to help. Which is kinda heresy but unbeknownst to me at the time actually fits her god's backstory really well. Her campaign has been set aside for now in favor of Aret's bc hers is all homebrew while theirs is Waterdeep: Dragon Heist so it'll be easier to get everyone used to each other/the game. She's my pfp!

Aret "Reign" Pyrnomos: Tiefling Sorcerer (Wild Magic) and also an investigative attorney. They came about bc I thought "You know what would be funny? A bunch of demon tiefling lawyers who love order but have super chaotic magic. And like a really big family. I mean really big. The family tree I made has 75 people. The family business (Pyrnomoi & Co. at Law) was started by great-great grandpa who made a pact with his grandmother Fierna for power and prosperity of his descendants so long as the law firm stands, more or less. Aret and their family and the business are all kind of inexorably linked? As a result of prejudice everyone is hyper aware of how what they do affects the family and business, and are very strict in how they act publicly. We have a rogue on the team but Aret literally refuses to aid/abet crime without serious backup plans so that's gonna be interesting! Also they have half-proficiency in animal handling bc of all their little cousins XD

Aster Stardew: "Drow" Oracle Track Druid (1st lvl but he's gonna be Circle of Stars). His name coinciding with my favorite game was unintentional on my part but delightful- I translated it from dndelvish "Holistacia" without realizing lol. Drow is in quotes bc his campaign is in a homebrewed Owl House setting (hence the Oracle Track)! I know very little about the Owl House, so it's gonna be interesting to play! He is best characterized in short as "neurodivergent and a minor", and also "looks like he wants to kill you (edgy), is actually a cinnamon roll". He tries to be edgy (his background is "haunted one" bc it's hilarious but also suits if I play up the edgelord a little) but literally can't stop himself from being nice, to his dismay and his therapist's delight. He's probably read the Boiling Isles version of My Immortal unironically. I just made him a few days ago, so he's still percolating in my mind, but he's babie and I love him.
