It's not uncommon at all to miss your abuse, to miss disordered behaviours, or miss when you were at your worst.

It's understandable why you might feel like you have no clue what to do - recovery is an uncertainty. It is unfamiliar, it is scary. It's okay to long for the stability of those dark parts of your story. You aren't a bad person, you aren't ungrateful, nor are those feelings proof that you cannot recover.

You still deserve to recover, however that looks for you. You don't need to run from yourself, you are not a net negative.

I know i'm like 7 years late with the realization, but the first time reading the All for the game books left only chaos in my brain, which i haven't revisited since 2016.. until now!

So now rereading The raven king and knowing what will happen, the funny realization is seeing Wymack being the first one to probably guess something happening between Neil and Andrew.

When the whole "Andrew's hand under Neil's t-shirt to gain his trust, while standing in front of other ppl" scene was going on, and Wymack seeing it, and later asking Neil:

It's the "Wymack eyed him" so funny for me, bc he just realized even Neil didn't know. (I think Wymack was facepalming on the inside, thinking 'he really is that stupid'.)

And then at the beginning of The King's men, again:

("A brief, pitying glance." You love to read that! poor Neil lol, he's only confused by what Wymack means)

ajbfjdj it's almost a comedy (and a tragedy, at the same time 🥲)

I remember watching S1 trailer before the show aired and I was actually curious about it but I didn't actually pay attention to the airing date or anything. Then this was the first scene I saw on Twitter or Tumblr, I don't remember. And I knew it. I knew I was going to like this show, but I never imagined it would be to this extent.

And I was like yeah, this looks cute, let me watch the first episode. I was already meaning to have a look at it and then I did.

And I went to my parents' house in the countryside for the summer and started my first fic on my phone's notes app and posted it with a shitty internet connection because I couldn't stop thinking about it for days.

And the rest is history.

oh, yeah lmao. 5th grade me saw a book with a dragon on front and could not resist! (though i also have not finished it. i have all the books but the last one remains unread bc, quite frankly, the story/quality has degraded and i couldnt get into this arc)

i'm also a big Glory fan - she was my original blorbo & my fav from the start <3 but tbh i gotta say that Sandwings are my favorite type nowadays. they're just really neat!

Hi! Yes, I've been here a long time lmao So from what I can recall things have actually stayed pretty remarkably the same when it comes to the popularity of the ships and dynamics in this series. Lawlight has always been the most popular ship, followed closely by M2 (Matt x Mello). However back in the mid/late 2000s it was different in terms of certain things, like the way the ships were referred to. For example, there was no such thing as a nickname for a ship as a whole back then - you didn't call it "Lawlight," you called it either "L/Light" or "Light/L." You had to specify which of the two you liked as the top by putting their name at the start of the pairing. They were treated almost like they were two entirely different ships, and people would definitely get upset if you weren't terribly careful about specifying this when posting shippy fics and things. This changed sometime between 2009-2012, maybe? Possibly around when "Brangelina" and celebrity couple nicknames like that became a thing in pop culture, lol. I am personally glad things are no longer this fussy about labeling and defining the ships, because I find it dumb and possibly a bit offensive towards gay folks to be that obsessive about their bedroom dynamics above all else. But I definitely still see people get very particular about their preferences for this stuff when it comes to their discussions of the ships these days too, so I might be the odd one out here. Overall I'd say tolerance towards diversity of the pairings and appreciation of the more minor characters has increased? Stuff like pairing L with Matsuda or having het ships like B x Naomi wasn't terribly common back then, from what I remember. People won't hate on you and fight with you as much for daring to enjoy depicting the characters with somebody other than their fave in a story or a piece of art nowadays, either (like "how dare you pair L with somebody other than Light!" - this was a very common thing to hear back in the early fandom days, and people would often act like you were "cheating" on a character by shipping them with somebody other than the character they decided they belonged with.) And fans have also started showing more appreciation for the female characters and attempting to be more inclusive toward them than they used to be. There is a bit less hatred of characters like Near and more shipping of him now as well. Many people were extremely dismissive of him back in the day, and he has definitely grown in popularity over time.

In general I think the fandom has chilled out and diversified and become more tolerant and deeper and more accurate with the characterization in its discussion of the series overall, but I still often will see the exact same takes and trends and tastes and arguments going on now as I used to see back in 2008. Especially when I step outside of the Tumblr bubble and back into a broader/more casual group of fans talking about the series and their faves.

#also i feel it must depend a lot on what site you use / what group of fans youre interacting with #because sometimes i'll get surprised when i like end up in a pocket of oldfans on twitter who still act very similar #to how they acted in 2008... who seem to in fact want to preserve #the aspects of the older fandom days that i find particularly dumb. so when i try to talk about a broader scope or things changing #im basing my views mostly on the vibes i've noticed here on tumblr and like trends ive seen with younger/newer fans #for the most part though the biggest changes have probably just been in fandom culture as a whole #and in the series becoming an older/nostalgic one instead of an exciting new one #also i have no idea what's going on in like death note tiktok land or anything so I cannot answer you about that #ask #anon #p

Iceman has Rooster's contact saved under Baby Goose since he was thirteen and he went away to camp for nine entire weeks. Tom never knew he could miss a kid that much. things im still not over (as someone who was mostly inactive since mid 2021):

mask and change my clothes!! i dont think i was active on tumblr when change my clothes was released, but the way i ascended when i heard his soft sweet singing voice <33 mask is my favorite song of his and it still makes me emotional to think about what the song meant to him. his creativity is one of his greatest strengths and i am endlessly happy that he found a way to share more of himself in a way that he really enjoys

DREAM TEAM MEETUP tbh i really did not know if these days would ever come. its so so so crazy to think that florida man dream texas cowboy sapnap and british george are really all living together and existing in the same space. seeing them be THEM irl is still very surreal and makes me pause for a second without fail. so so much of the community centered around them not having met each other irl

DREAM FACE REVEAL!!!! this one i REALLY HONESTLY didnt know if it would ever come, just because the courage it takes to face reveal after building one of the largest audiences is fucking crazy. i thought that even if they did end up living together, dream might’ve found that he is happy to just be with them and not want to face reveal anymore. ig never doubt dream- he’s such a “go big or go home” type of person. i love him regardless but now he is also a big bear who wears cat beanies and has the prettiest eyes and im emotionally attached

Watched A New Hope for the first time in forever and wow, it turns out that Star Wars would actually be so good if it was good. Like, if you watch this movie, and you just set aside all the stupid lore and silly retcons and bad creative decisions and terrible movies made after it, if you just take it as a movie on its own terms, this thing rules. No wonder people keep coming back to this franchise, despite it all.

#it's so refreshing to return to the roots of this thing and be reminded of why i liked it in the first place #of course i spent the half the time feeling nostalgic not for the movie itself but for the old lego star wars games #god those were good. i should figure out how to replay them sometime and see if they hold up as well as i remember #walrus consumes media #star wars
