The thing about Tech's fall is that I've seen about 3 dozen polls over the past year on if people think he's Alive or not and the absolute highest I have ever seen the "dead" option get was a straight 50/50 on a site where the majority of people actively wanted him to be dead for Stakes. Most of them though only range from 20-30% thinking he's gone.
So the elephant in the room is that if he is dead then it's bad writing. Not because you can't kill characters but because if you do kill one and cannot convince more than half your audience that he's actually dead then however sad and well executed the scene might be in isolation, you wrote a bad character death. Whether it didn't follow from the plot or it wasn't written in a believable way, or any other reason that people might not believe it, you cannot have a well written character death that can't convince a majority of the audience that it's real.
And I just don't think they're that bad at writing! I don't think they'd be so lazy with the first major character death that they fail to make it feel final and believable! Tech is as beloved by the writers as he is by us, that much is clear, and I think that if he was dead his death would get the attention it deserved rather than happening and then never getting properly addressed for the rest of the episode because too much is happening at once. And I think that if he was dead, they'd have made it completely clear from the jump that he was.

AU where Jason doesn't come back and attack Tim, and the Batfam doesn't know he is alive, but he still becomes a villain
*pre-batfam knows Jason is alive*
Batman and Tim/Robin: *storm into an out-of-town building with bad guys*
Bad guy: Oh my god, you're-
Batman, used to it: I am Batman
Bad Guy: Jace's dad
Batman, visibly confused: Jace?
Another bad guy: oh god, you're right, that is Jay Jay's dad, hold on, let me facetime him really quick *pulls out his phone*
The phone: hey, what's up? Finally got the money to pay me?
Bad guy: dude, it's like 50 grand, we're working on it, so chill, but guess who we're with right now?
*Batman rushing up behind them so he can see Jason*
The phone: it better be someone pretty important, you guys interrupted me while I was reading.
Bad guy: *moves to the side so Jason can see Batman as Robin starts to climb into frame to see him too*
Jason: B? What are you- OH MY GOD, DID YOU REALLY GET ANOTHER ROBIN? Wait a minute, Larry, call me privately, I wanna talk to you *ends FaceTime*
Batman: I want that number right now. Give it to me RIGHT NOW
*phone rings, "JJ" pops up on the screen*
Bad guy, holding up a finger to tell Batman to hold on: *picks it up* no we're not in Gotham, he came here to us- no, no, I'm sorry, we forgot you haven't told him- well I-
Batman takes the phone: how dare you pretend to be my dead son, I don't know what kind of ploy or game you're getting at-
Jason: Jesus Bruce, you're so dramatic. Dont worry, I haven't told any of them your identity, or even my last name so they can't piece it together, they just think Batman is my dad, so I'm not gonna sully the family name or whatever
Bruce: that's not-
Jason: Little women are getting into some big problems over here so I'm gonna let you go. Bye B. *Hangs up*

Lily' birthday- jily snippet
"You're spending your birthday in the library?"
Lily ignored James, carrying on writing her notes for Potions as James sat down opposite her.
He placed his head in his hands and peered over at her work, "Interesting, interesting."
Lily huffed, looking up, "You don't even take potions, whilst I love it; yet I am finding this specific topic excruciatingly boring, so how is this interesting to you?"
James grinned, "Your handwriting is just really shit. I can't read a word of it so I'm imagining you're writing about transfiguration."
Lily snorted, "Well, I'm not."
"What a shame", he sighed.
She nodded in agreement as she glanced back down to her work. He sat quietly opposite her as she did so.
After almost ten minutes, she glanced back up with a frown.
"Are you just going to sit there?"
"Until you finish."
"Well what if I'm planning on working until the library shuts at nine... in about seven hours."
James shrugged, "I can keep myself entertained."
Lily groaned and shook her head.
James let out a laugh, "I did not think you were so dirty minded, Miss Evans. Merlin, I meant I'll do some doodling or something."
"For seven hours?"
"Yep!"
"Why?"
He leaned back in his chair, hand coming up to brush his hair out his eyes, "You don't want the company?"
"No, I'm happy for the company. But shouldn't you be practicing quidditch or corrupting the youth with Sirius?"
"No, it's your birthday. If you're set on studying until the evening then I'll happily keep you company."
Lily smiled, "Well, I'm not actually going to do that. I'll only be here for an hour or so more and then Mary and Marlene are taking me rollerskating... Do you want to come with us? I was planning on inviting Remus anyway, and so you, Sirius, and Peter by extension."
James nodded, "Yeah. I'd- I mean we would like that."
Lily beamed, "Okay."
"Okay."
Lily smiled at him again before slowly moving her gaze back to her notes. James stole one of her sheets of paper and doodled as Lily worked. As Lily began to pack away, James folded then slid the paper into her bag. His doodles of Lily as a jedi surrounded by hearts now resting in Lily's bag.

Jason Todd is my favourite character in all of DC but:
If someone doesn't want to kill, you can't ask, tell, or expect them to kill for you
Or, you can, but you'd be a complete asshole. The only time those expectations are valid is when a person signed up for a job where killing is expected (e.g. the military).
But as we all know, Batman is not the military nor the police. He only has one rule—or only one rule he truly cares about—and that's to not kill.
And frankly, I don't care what his reasons are for that; the bottom line is that he doesn't want to kill and we should respect it. Because at the end of the day, when you take a life, you're the one who's fully responsible for it. You're the one who has to live with it. And because of that, nobody should force you to do it.
Look, like I said, Jason Todd is my favourite character too. But that doesn't mean I don't find it disturbing or unfair when he expects Bruce, and only Bruce, to kill the Joker for him.
Do I find it understandable and human? Of course! Jason died horribly and gruesomely to a madman who'd do the same to anyone else so long as he finds it funny enough. It's only natural for him to want and expect someone—especially his father, the one he loved the most and the one he'd been searching through the thin crack of the door for even as the countdown struck zero—to put an end to the clown permanently, but. Does that mean he should? Absolutely not, and I think it's straight-up awful that so many people in this fandom encourage this take.
And the kicker is, if Catherine was still alive, if Catherine was the sort to become a vigilante and this happened to the both of them, do you think Jason would have the same expectations for her? I bet not. Not because he's sexist, but because Bruce is Batman and we take Batman for granted.
Yeah, you heard me. We take him for granted. We expect too much out of him.
This has been a slow-coming realisation, but it comes after a particularly harrowing conversation with my sister during which she told me that I was taking her for granted and I surprised myself by agreeing with her. I won't go into the nitty gritty details but what I took away from the conversation was that just because someone can do something, and you yourself would do that something for them, that does not mean you should automatically expect them to do the same for you—especially if it goes against their character and what they stand for.
This goes the same for Bruce. Just because he's capable of murder and is justified in doing it, that does not mean that he should do it if he doesn't want to. And just because Jason would do it for him if the reverse happened, that still does not mean he should do it if he doesn't want to (which Bruce would have never asked for anyway because that's just not part of his character). No matter their similarities, Jason and Bruce are two completely different people and they can't be expected to do and choose the same things.
Batman, of course, chooses to take responsibility for many, many things, most of which are completely optional. He's a billionaire, he doesn't have to help his city by spending his nights saving people, facing the worst the city has to offer, and risk his life and sanity on the daily. He's the CEO of one of the most wealthy companies in the world, he doesn't have to uplift his city by donating to orphanages, hospitals, and charities, creating programmes to help the youth, the poor, the disabled, ex-convicts, and other minorities, as well as funnel any struggling person he encounters to his company so that they can be assured of a job. He was a single and free man, he didn't have to agree to care for several angry, reckless, and bitter kids with death in their hearts.
All of the shit he does is completely optional! Yet, the one thing he explicitly chooses not to do, the one thing he absolutely refuses to take responsibility for and takes great pains to avoid, is killing.
And I get it, this is murder we're talking about here. You can't just expect people to be just okay with doing that, even if that person is a demented dude in a bat costume.
Actually, why are we expecting so much out of such a person? Cause Batman can do anything? Cause Jason is his son and Gotham is his city? Cause if given half a chance, we wouldn't let Jason down? Cause if something happened to us, we hope that we mattered enough to someone for them to avenge us, no matter if doing so would completely destroy them? Tear them apart from the inside-out? No matter that we're already dead and they'd have to live the rest of their lives like that?
Just something to think about.
At any rate, I think it's wrong to look at someone and expect them to kill for you. If Gotham wants Joker gone, they're just gonna have to do it themselves cause expecting a volunteer to do this extra shit they never asked for and explicitly does not want to do is more than just appalling.
It's cruel.

i love your art/redesigns! i'd love to see your take on hoodude voodoo, i think he's such a sweet and cute character but his lack of pants has always seemed…weird, especially considering he has a jacket LOL
I had SO much fun with this one!
I love Hoodude but his backstory is atrocious. So rather than being Frankie's attempt at making a boyfriend, he is instead their attempt to make a sibling after they get jealous of hearing all their friends talk about theirs. He does live with the Steins, and they are raising him alongside Frankie (as well as another certain steam powered robot, but we'll get to that.)
Mr. Stein was studying him as there had been reports of a Voodoo doll that was showing signs of life, and he wanted to get to the bottom of it, having created life himself. After trying and failing, Frankie snuck into his lab and started talking to it. Feeling much more comfortable around them, Hoodude began showing signs of life, and the two eventually struck up a friendly conversation. After alerting their parents, preparations were made for him to settle with them, and eventually start at Monster High. Before that, Frankie enlisted the help of Clawdeen to help freshen Hoodude up and make him look more like himself. So after cleaning him up, dying his fabric blue, changing his eyes to his two favorite colors, and giving him some slick blue and red yarn locs, they dressed him in the sweater Mrs. Stein knitted him and started his first day at Monster High.
It didn't take long for the superstition surrounding voodoo dolls to spread, and so like Scarah, the student body became immediately wary of him. Being outcast for similar reasons, he and Scarah became quick best friends. He tries really hard to strike up a friendship with Jackson, given how different they both are from the other students and are also both being bullied by Manny, but Jackson does his best to resist. That is up until he's clued in on the fact that Hoodude is essentially Frankie's brother and he can use being friends with him as an excuse to get close to them. That plan ultimately fails, but the two do become actual friends in the process.
He's a HUGE Veronica Von Vamp fan, and his favorite animals are love bugs ❤️🪲

zhongli thoughts im bored
i am obsessed with the imagery of him holding a golden fan just below his eyes and gazing over the city
highly proficient in all makeup, cosmetics and accessories, you need to dress up nicely for a fancy occasion he can have you looking like a goddess just give him some time
he sits in the sun a lot, when he had the exuvia he would sit on the tallest mountains and sleep in the sun
Unlike the other archons zhongli is closely attached to the sun, he is like the sun in many ways, he guides people, brightens their lives, plants and life thrive under his care
However the sun is still deadly, those who get too close to him burn up in his presence and those who keep their distance are trapped in the shadow he casts and lose themselves, like the sun in the sky he is meant to shine brightly all by himself
i am obsessed with the imagery of zhongli sitting in a bathtub and all of his draconic features just come out one by one, first his arms turn gold and then come his claws. Next comes the horns on the top of his head as his hair grows longer and longer. Last is the tail which flops over the edge of the tub
He can't sing but he has some talent with instruments, a habit he picked up from being around quizhong, ping and venti for so long, he can work with string instruments best
He will pat your head, he can't help it, if hu tao has her hat off and she makes him smile that hand will be on her head
crazy thought of the liyue gang playing hide and seek, like xiangling, xingqiu, yunjin, xinyan, hutao and chongyun playing this huge game and they run all over the city it becomes a huge affair at one point xiangling is "it" and she can't find anyone but she comes across zhongli sitting in his favorite spot at third round knockout and she's like "sorry to disturb you but have you seen hu tao" and he smiles and is like "well i don't know about the director but i saw a blue haired exorcist up at the terrace he might be around the glaze lilies" and xiangling thanks him and goes to chase chongyun down, zhongli whispers behind him "she's gone" and then 4 of them, xingqiu, yunjin, xinyan and hutao just poke out from behind him (they want to keep hiding behind him but with a smile he shoos them away to play the game properly)
zhongli is painfully popular you can take the man out of the archon but you can't take the archon out of the man
zhongli likes to keep the moon by his side specifically the people who are like the moon; guizhong, venti, xiao, azhdaha, rukkha, ganyu the list goes on and on -perhaps they are naturally drawn together its unclear who gravitates to who but even liyue itself is a beautiful moon he can cling to
zhongli can petrify things with his hands, just lightly brushing his fingertips over anything will encase it in stone and with a short breath it will crumble to dust
mr. workaholic the reason why we never see him at work and always on vacation is because he goes crazy and completes all the paperwork and it scares hutao so she kicks him out (but then he spends all his money so he has to come back the cycle never ends)
as a consultant zhongli takes on many jobs if they hire him from wangsheng he’s quite expensive though ganyu tries her best to direct the qixing away from him but some things are unavoidable and they require his assistance

It is not classist that Jason, a vigilante in a *family of vigilantes*, is violent like the rest | just | because he comes from a poor family
What's (more likely) classist is writers thinking he needs to be taught right vs wrong from Bruce and co and that he consequently makes snap judgments out of some childish grudge-fueled rebellion which makes him dangerous the way a toddler holding a knife is dangerous

actually i think one of the things in outsiders that really fucked me up was one of owen's turns of phrase
when magic tricks him and goes into the maze alone, only surviving because he figures out what happened quick enough to follow & rescue her, he tells her that he's never going to stop coming after her (to make sure she's safe, to protect her)
and then after owen's gotten his memories back, he tells apo that he's never going to stop coming after him (to hunt him down, to kill him)

fans believing wwx when he acts like he's invincible is the reason we got people saying stuff like this but the story makes it abundantly clear that wwx, while extraordinarily intelligent and powerful, is still capable of tremendous heartache and loss, and he's suffered greatly in many ways that he doesn't allow the public or even his loved ones to see. it's almost the same kind of misdirection that had him characterized in-universe as a villain. BUT in the words of lwj that one time. we are all human <3

I have re-read the Baratie arc for like the hundreth time and I have decided that I will fully enter denial.
Gin's not dead. He finds a way to survive somehow. His crew probably had an antidote. He hasn't had any cover stories because he's going to do something important at the end. *sob*
In fact, he's the 10th Straw Hat and he's going to be their Battle Commander who gives directions to the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.
