So in the new DP graphic novel, it’s confirmed that Dan is barely weaker then Clockwork, assuming Danny is half as powerful as he is, does that help the theory that Danny is stronger then Superman?

SPOILERS FOR THE DANNY PHANTOM GRAPHIC NOVEL A GLITCH IN TIME

I will be leaving the rest of this response under the cut nonetheless, just to cover my bases.

I do own the graphic novel myself (I've read it multiple times, every time within half an hour lol) and I don't actually know if it's been confirmed how powerful he is? Obviously he does manage to best Clockwork the first time, although they inevitably break apart between Vlad and Danny's best efforts. But I don't know if that's simply because Dan is just that powerful or because of his nature in general. Let me give you an excerpt of what I'm thinking about:

Page 162, from Clockwork himself:

"He's been outside the timestream too long. His structural integrity has been compromised."

Of course the GN (I will be using this going forward to refer to the graphic novel, just so you know) also gave us a bunch of new DP lore about ghosts and what gives them powers. And from my understanding of the GN, ghostly powers (perhaps halfas specifically, if you'd prefer to headcanon it that way) are based entirely on a person's emotional and mental state of mind. Much like Jazz pointed out in the GN, it could be a psychosomatic response.

Therefore, it's very likely that whether Danny is more powerful than Superman is entirely based upon Danny's mental health at the exact point in time they fight. It could literally change during their fight, even. They could fight three different times and one time end up with a clear Danny win, one time a clear Superman win, and once an even tie.

To a degree, it could be argued that it helps the theory that Danny is more powerful than Superman. In another perspective, it could be argued that it doesn't prove anything at all. It's rather hard to tell because the writing of the show in general has always kinda gone up and down in terms of Danny's power level. And when you're talking about crossovers that have never actually interacted in official media (physical paperback, webcomics, animation, live-action, whatever you might consider a canon crossover), it makes it all that much harder to say.

I remember once upon a time a similar argument was making its rounds on Tumblr, and someone mentioned something Stan Lee once said. I couldn't repeat it to you verbatim, but it was something about how it depends entirely on the author on what character wins in a fight. A simpler, more straight-forward way of saying that it would probably be: Plot Armor. It's all about plot armor.

A more complicated response would be: how does the surrounding context of this fight affect the battle in question? Are either of them brainwashed, being puppeteered? Do they really want to fight or are they doing so against either or both of their wills? How do their morals affect their efforts? Or their relationship with the person in question?

After all, in a fic where Danny and Clark are good friends or even father and son, Clark would be a lot more hesitant to fight and possibly injure Danny in comparison to a situation where Danny is more like Dan- largely without morals and regrets- or where Clark is more like the Injustice Lord version of himself. All these things really affect the overall course of the fight.

(A lot of it does come down to plot armor, or just plot in general. I could have Clark go all out, use the power of the sun to totally blow Danny apart, but at the end of the day if I want Clark to die, he is going to Die.)

I know this is long-winded, and maybe only slightly answers your question? But the subject is rather complicated and there's no one clearcut answer and I thought it was better to expand on it than just dismiss it with a simplistic answer. <3

I did some characters and then looking at it now-I hope it’s not too much (if so, i apologise in advance fhvhsk I’ve never really submit a matchup before!)

I go by She/Her and I hope I can be 🌻🐸 anon!! Some basic stuffs about me: INFJ-T, 4w5, sun sign is libra and both moon and rising are aries.

For Allies:

Canada - Honestly, he is one of the countries that I can imagind myself getting along with. I’m quite introverted but I can be quite animated and high-strung (eg. having social anxiety and all that jazz) which ironically are hard to grapple with when I have limited energy. So sensing Canada’s overall demeanor - I probably will match his quieter energy though I can be a little high strung or animated at times. Also, I would appreciate people who are more sensitive as well!! And lastly?? Dude has a pet polar bear that talks - as an animal lover, I will be gushing over Kumajirou 😭😭 Yes, I’m that friend that will beeline to the host’s pets etc. in a party unless I have people familiar with to include me in conversations with more unfamiliar acquaintances and introduce me to new people :, ) I think I would also try to help include Canada in stuffs since its honestly sad that he’s pretty invisible to everyone around him and p much lives in his brother’s shadows. Also!! I would love to go to his country and sightsee - I do sometimes hike casually with my friends and I like strolling around, especially places with animals to spot e.g. national parks, gardens, etc. and hes probably really experienced with hiking and even surviving the wilderness (I have a horrible sense of direction - all my friends literally know me infamously for being directionally challenged isivhfsdb, I got lost in a classroom before)

America: This is kinda a tricky one because it really depends on how I met him e.g. the settings and circumstances but I’m just gonna assume we have good first impressions! I honestly think I will be more reserved and shy (Think Japan and his interactions) but will eventually warm up as long as he doesn’t push me into uncomfortable social situations or drained my social energy a lot. It could be like a case of an extrovert adopting an introvert :, ) I would bond over and geek out on comics and games with him. Also ngl we may just be meme buddies especially with the silly Gnarp gnarp memes (I got an aftonsparv ikea alien plush because of all these memes dkhwghv)

England: I think this is a little more straightforward - I will reel back my energy and would be quite polite. However, I can foresee myself needing time and more interactions to get used to his sharp-tongue or blunt way of speaking at times before I can actually be friends with him. I guess one of the shared interests I have with him may relate to supernatural as I do,,, have the ability to see spirits (I have so many ghost stories to share, mine or from others’ experiences). I think leveraging on that shared interest - I will open up and have more to talk about :^)

France: He gives off big brother energy and can be quite affectionate even platonically. I may be overwhelmed with his openness to show affections e.g. touches and compliments at first but ultimately will grow to appreciate his ways of showing care. I think he’s really attuned to people’s emotions and empathetic too and I would definitely appreciate his support?? Totally exude king of self-care and I definitely need help with that because I have a tendency to prioritise school + work over my health (got admitted to the emergency for the past 6 months because of that :, ) )

Russia: I feel like he’s an enigma for me to discern if I will get along well with him? It depends on the first impression and contexts? ? I can see myself getting intimidated if I witnessed his interactions with the Baltic countries. However, we would get along well if he’s gentle and nice to me and others?? Because of my social anxiety, I am very perceptive and sensitive to someone’s vibes, so I am always on the look out for how someone interacts with me and their interactions with others -I feel like I will be wary of Russia out of gut feelings or seeing how he casually intimidates people wordlessly. However, I think we will mostly be amicable to one another :, ) One of our shared interests I think we can bond over is probably sunflowers? I personally love them a lot and in fact, I love the colour yellow a lot to the extent most of my items even what I wear is mostly yellow. I really like cute things too and honestly I remember that scene of him getting rejected by a hamster- that was rlly honestly sad even though its supposed to be funny dhfkfhdhb

China: Aaah another big brother and also grandpa energy (I guess England does exude grandpa energy to a certain extent too-) my ethnicity is Chinese so that’s already kinda ‘entry point’ to befriend him or stuff :,) I can honestly imagine him chiding and nagging me from my bad habits of not taking good care of myself and also dishing out blunt yet wise advices. I overall will respect him but may tease him like a little sibling because I do have gremlin sibling energy according to my friends, especially those who are older, but I am actually quite mature despite my childish antics. Also, totally will bond with his love for hello kitty because I love cute stuffs and my fav Sanrio character is pompompurin 💛💛

The Nordic 5 -

Iceland: It’s another case of oh wow !! You have a pet?? AND THEY TALK? Kinda scenario like Canada and it’s a puffin??? I may be a little cautious and polite at first because he may appear quieter and reserved but I think we will kinda click as friends. I think it’s canon that he wrote letters back then to make friends and I actually do have penpals to write to like sending snail mails and cute stuffs e.g. stickers, stationery and keychains!!

Norway: It may be a little hard for me to approach him as he seems withdrawn?? And his expression is usually unreadable so coupled with my social anxiety - I may not initiate or approach him on my own unless I have someone introduce me to him like Denmark to facilitate. From there on, it’s really kinda like up to how the interactions roll from there? I think we would be amicable and may bond over supernatural and stuffs too because I personally love supernatural related media and stuffs (I am also quite a horror junkie and don’t get spooked easily) It would be cool to learn various mythical creatures from his culture!!

Denmark: It’s another case of extrovert adopting introvert but I don’t know if it’s because of the way the fandoms perceived and write about him (one of my fav writers is alfredosauce!!) but I honestly can see myself hanging out with him and find him fun to be around especially with his love for legos. (I would love to get the bonsai tree lego kit ;; the leaves are frog legos??? How cute is that??) and I do have an extroverted friend that lowkey reminds me of him and we have been friends for very long. I feel like we will be meme besties too - collectively sending 10+ reels at 2 am and going why are you awake??

Sweden: It’s kinda like Norway but even more likely that I won’t approach him and if I do, I will be really polite and reserved (also social anxiously struggling with small talks and reading his expression/body language) I probably need someone to introduce me to him and hang out in a group or with someone along with Sweden to actually familiarise with him. With his hobbies being art-related and furnitures?? I think that will be the main interest we share and bond over because I am a self-taught artist (though I don’t exactly have time these days to do art) but I love drawing stuffs for my friends and admire people’s DIY and crafting skills so I would be impressed by his abilities.

Finland: He exudes mother friend energy based on how approachable and gentle he is?? ALSO HANATAMAGO, I’m going to kidnap his pupper /j I think we will become fast friends?? And I would appreciate his caring demeanour. I think hes the kind of person who may not be close to you but finds out you're struggling, will do regular check-ins and I think I will honestly cry/touched by that.

Axis: Germany: I think at this point you may see a pattern but I tend to not initiate or approach people who may be hard to read and it goes the same with Germany. I think I would however work well with Germany because I actually tend to prioritise my work to be good quality (though I can imagine I can be quite stressed too sfhkdhs) After warming up and also knowing he has doggos, I think we will bond?? I have a goblin of a dachshund,, but I love both cats and dogs and all other animals :) I also realised how loyal he is as a friend and would rlly appreciate that trait!!

N.Italy: Maybe a case of extrovert adopting introvert again. I think I will be flabbergasted at how carefree he is??? Just him in his own world vibing. I think his energy will rub off on me though and we would eventually get along but I may act as a motherly friend unlike some other countries mentioned earlier because I'm quite an overworrier-

S.Italy: I know it’s canon that he’s more friendly and kind toward ladies so I think based on first impression - we would be amicable. I think this is pointed out by many hetalia writers and also its canon that he is jealous and feels inferior to N.Italy - I honestly think that depending on circumstances e.g. If I know him first before N. Italy, our relationship will fluctuate like a lot and it would be confusing why he’s hot or cold after I know his brother?? Unless he does eventually confide in me about his concerns or I will be left confused and rather drained on his behaviours :, )

For what I would do:

1) I think I will actually specify that I may return at a certain timing after accepting the invitation and hoping for their understanding. It’s really likely I will leave rather begrudgingly on the time I decided to leave but there’s that tiny tiny chance that I may stay an extra hour or two before really leaving.

2) As much as I would love to help and also my social anxiety, my first instinct is to apologise and say I can’t [and this situation will probably bug me the rest of the day ngl on how well I approached it-]

3) first day off in forever? I’m sleeping in and being a homebody my g. There’s a small chance of my friends that I don’t see often that may invite me out and I would often try to meet them for at least a few hours and the rest is just me vibing at home like listening to music, watching animes or reading mangas and even movies,, or just browsing through YouTube to watch videos especially those niche 2 hours + long videos in an obscure media to hyperfixate for the coming months.

Canada: When we first met, she took such a strong liking to Kumajirou that I wasn't quite sure if she'd noticed me standing there. She was very sweet though and started up a pleasant conversation. Even though she has some bursts of energy, I don't mind it. I actually like when she gets animated about her interests and wants to share them with me. I appreciate how often she includes me in whatever activity she has planned, even if I don't always go along with it, it feels great to be thought of. She's mentioned a few times how much she'd like to visit my house and I've already thought of some nice activities to do together. It might be nice to return her kindness with showing her around my home.

America: She's pretty cool to be around. Mattie actually introduced me to her and she seemed kinda shy at first, but she comes out of her shell more easily when Mattie's around. Got the impression that she needs to be around people she knows to really be able to get to know her.

England: Generally speaking, she's fine to be around when she's quiet. I haven't had many one-on-one conversations with her. From the ones we have had, it seems a bit hard to find common interests. I get the impression that I put her off based on her reactions to my responses to the others' tomfoolery. Perhaps my sarcasm is a bit much for her.

France: I've noticed she takes awhile to warm up to people, which is fine! She's so sweet when she's shy, though. I'd love to get to know her more. I've seen some of her art and admire her creative mind. I heard her mention her hospitalization and went into shock. If she lets me, I'd be more than happy to show her how to take things slowly.

Russia: Can't say exactly what I did to make her nervous, but I find it hard to approach her. Thinking back on it, maybe my conversation with Estonia put her off. Whatever the reason, it's made talking to her harder. It might be better for me to observe her and see how the others approach her.

China: She's a nice girl but needs to take better care of herself. I was floored to learn about her habit of putting her personal needs aside for work and school! It's unexceptable, so I've decided to bring small boxed lunches whenever I know I'll see her. At least then I'll know she's got one of her needs taken care of. If she needs help finding way to cope with stress, I'll gladly offer my advice.

Nordic 5

Iceland: I have to admit it was quite odd to see how animated she got seeing Mr. Puffin. She actually startled me, and I couldn't help staring at her while she gushed about how cute she thought he was. The only reason we had a conversation was because she changed the subject. I know she can have quiet moments, but honestly, I'm still recovering from that first instance.

Norway: She's too loud sometimes, especially when Denmark comes around. As long as he stays away, I don't mind her company. We mostly just exchange pleasantries, which is fine for me. She's asked about some of my home's fairy tales, and that was a little nice to chat about.

Denmark: She's fun once you get to know her! Yeah, she seemed a bit nervous at first, but we quickly moved past that. I love how excitable she can be! It's always funny to see her get animated, and when some of the others get shocked by it, I can't help but laugh! I want to bring out more moments like that from her.

Sweden: *stares* Hm....We don't talk much...Maybe I scare her. *stare intensifies* She makes nice art though... (He doesn't have an issue with you, but we all know how quiet and intimidating he can be!)

Finland: Oh, I'm so glad that Hanatamago helped introduce me to her! She's so kind and I always enjoy our conversations. I know that she gets a little anxious around others, but I hope she hasn't felt like that around me. I'd be happy to be the bridge of communication with Mr. Sweden. I know how scary he can be!

Axis

Germany: She doesn't cause any problems, so I don't mind her. She's fairly hard-working and responsible, although she needs to learn how to properly look after herself. I will say that Italy seems to have a negative influence on her. His happy-go-lucky attitude rubs off on her and she gets a bit distracted. I have to help snap her back to reality sometimes, but it *sighs* isn't too often, thankfully.

N. Italy: Oh, she's so nice. Sometimes she gets so nervous, though! I like helping her relax. I can't believe she has a habit of putting work and school before relaxing. The stress of work can wait, right? It's fun to get excited about art and other hobbies together! Germany doesn't always like how much time we spend together. I don't remember exactly what he said, but I'm sure it was something about discipline.

S. Italy: She's fine when she's not around my idiot brother. At first, I found it easy to talk to her, not really noticing her social anxiety, but I've seen her hanging around him more often. I don't really like his influence on her, but it's not my problem (he's very much made it his problem). She's asked a few times why I've been acting 'strange', but I don't really know what she means. Sometimes I just want to admire her art and be around her without having to talk to her, what's weird about that? (He'd try telling you something is wrong without actually telling you)

Personal Hazbin Hotel Song Ranking bc I ain't sleeping.

1. Stayed Gone

Look - I don't know why - but this duet is just an absolute banger. It establishes so much of Vox's character and his one sided rivalry, as well as shows just how effortlessly Alistor can overpower him. Just is oozing with character and is catchy af.

2. Loser Baby

Not had this on loop as some other songs but I cannot deny just how brilliant this song is in the context of the show. It's the most distinct of all songs in Hazbin, and the message is just a really positive one if you're not someone who struggles with media literacy. As an survivor, it's resonates a lot. The jazz just makes the whole song super comfy.

3. Respectless

This might be a bias pick because I am a huge fan of the musical SIX and this feels heavily inspired by some of their songs. It's a song that utilises it's medium of musical to get a lot of exposition across quickly and rather cleverly. And it just fucking slaps, I almost wish it was longer because I just have it on loop.

4. Hell is Forever

Song two of the show, and it is a great one. Starting the song with the same sounds from Happy Day in Hell to feel very traditional musical while Charlie is talking, and then transitioning into the guitar when Adam starts talking, perfection. It introduces certain characters being associated with certain styles which get utilised throughout the shows. From a narrative perspective, the hard guitar sounds and lyrics get across Adam / Lute / Heavens perspective on Hell and extermination, making them dislikable even while you bop your head along with their singing.

5. You Didn't Know

Another bias pick, but some of my favourite songs in musicals are ones that incorporate songs that have come before into somthing new (Chant from Hadestown and Non-stop from Hamilton), so this song is right up my alley. The constant changing of the music depending on who is talking just amplifies the conflict unfolding onscreen. Was it the most well executed? Perhaps not. But I think summarises really why the music in Hazbin is brilliant and on par with Broadway / West End musicals.

6. Hells Greatest Dad

Omg this whole song is just a Jam. Another rival duet, and it's so over the top, boisterous and silly. Watching Lucifer and Alistor battle it out in a competition of egos, trying to wind each other up, only to be interrupted by Mitzy just yelling at full volume. Not as high because it is rather silly and I think the others utilise the medium of musical more effectively. Still so glad this was included.

7. More Then Anything + Reprise.

One of the few ballads in the show, and it works really well unlike Whatever It Takes (which I'll talk about later in the list). The music itself is simple, and I think that is a positive, it really allows for Lucifer and Charlie's voices to carry the emotional weight, painting a clear picture of their past and them reconnecting. It's emotional, and beautiful.

I'm including the Reprise here because unlike other musical reprises, it doesn't really change much except it being Vaggie and Charlie singing this time around.

8. Poison

When they released Poison I was originally like "Oh they are trying to replicate the success of Addict," and in a way I wasn't wrong. Addict and Poison are great portrayals of Angels character struggles, but unlike Addict, Poison isn't as pleasant a listen without the full context of the scene its attached to (which sounds wrong given the subject matter).

Poison works best when it's being a exploration of Angel trying to cope with the abuse he suffers, but the feel and initial release before the show aired makes it feel like it was designed as a pop song first and a musical song second.

It's still a catchy listen, and works within the confines of the show itself, but that's why it's quite low on the list.

9. Ready For This

My personal favourite of all of Charlie centric / traditional musical style songs. Part of Charlie's over optimism can a little grating at the times, but this song finally is able to present that optimism and the hidden insecure that comes with it wonderfully, and actually makes Charlie feel charming. You can believe this song could rally an entire town, especially with the nods to world war / military numbers. Its a pure musical number that feels like a twisted version of a Disney number - which fits Charlie perfectly.

10. Welcome to Heaven

God so many of songs are bangers. Welcome to Heaven is a number that truly feels like somthing you would hear at a hip and modern church with the electric organ in the background. It has two main problems that kinda contradict eachother. One, it's way to short and two, you could cut it and it wouldn't change anything in the episode, it's rather irrelevant as a musical number. But god does those electric organ get me tapping my feet.

11. It Starts with Sorry

This song falls somewhere between endearing and silly, which I think it's main problem. The music is so gentle and swells in all the right places to elicit emotions within the listener, but outside of Charlie, all the other singers voices sounds like they are attempting to be silly. So the song fails to be a pure balled but isn't chaotic like Hell's Greatest Dad, making it kinda forgettable except for it being Sir P's only song.

12. Finale

Finale is so low because its just...generic.

The sudden change between soft and gentle to loud and powerful is jarring and could have transitioned a lot better. The only interesting part is with Alistors and his spiralling mental state, but again it's such sudden change, especially when youre listening to the song without visuals. It serves its job of wrapping out the final scenes of the series, but it just feels like it's ticking off a checklist rather than being anything.

13. Happy Day in Hell

I genuinely feel nothing when I listen to this song, maybe some mild irritation. Unlike Ready For This, Charlie's blind optimism is grating, and yes I know its her before development and she's suppost to be like that, but you can do optimistic and preppy and it not be annoying, and this song doesn't change that. It's very traditional musical, nothing interesting and honestly very forgettable.

14. Out for Love

You remember how earlier I said Poison felt like a pop song first? Well Out for Love also falls into that pitiful. But unlike Poison, which becomes somthing special and fitting when it's placed in context of its scene. This song just feels random. Overall this scene feels messy and conflicting to what was happening minutes earlier. The song is suppost to show Carmilla deciding to offer her services and Vaggie finding her motivation to fight, but you could have done so many different songs / styles that would have worked better. This would have worked better as a Duet between Carmilla and Vaggie! Instead we just get a song to choreograph a fight scene too - go check out the RWBY soundtrack, it does this so much better with songs that offer so much for character motivation.

15. Whatever It Takes

This song was the only one I didn't save into my Spotify likes. It is the most mismatched, misplaced, and miss potential song out of them all. It's start with an emotional Carmilla explaining what happened during the extermination, turns into a power balled - and then Vaggie joins out of nowhere!!!! It's so jarring and doesn't fit at all, they aren't in the same room, and outside the thin connection of "protecting their loved ones", the circumstances are completely different and even in song form they just don't line up. This should have been a pure Vaggie song or a pure Carmilla song, not a duet. Keep it to purely giving exposition or to explaining character emotions or modifications, blending the two doesn't work.

AIGHT who's ready for some hadestown SLANG and STUFF

Up Top:

"Board the Ferry" - to die. Stemmed from Charon's boat to the Underworld. Another iteration is “board the train”, because of Hades’s train. (John boarded the ferry last night.)

"Queened" - to be stuck in an unfortunate situation, especially if it concerns a relationship. Stemmed from Persephone and Hades' tumultuous marriage, as well as the original definition. (How are Rob and Gary? Heard they've been queened with each other for a while.) (All this economic turmoil lately has got me completely queened!)

"Shaded" - to feel or appear to be faint; lightheaded. Stemmed from how dead the shades of the Underworld look. (Hey, pal, you're looking shaded, everything alright?)

"High jazz/low jazz" - the amount of truthfulness to a statement, with 'low jazz' meaning more truth and 'high jazz' meaning less. Stemmed from... uh, this one's kinda made up, but I'd say it's easier to tell secrets when the band is playing loud. (There's a lot of high jazz surrounding that rumor.)

‘Rum-running to Hades’ - To suffer greatly. Rum-running was the illegal smuggling of alcohol. Rum-running to the grouchy King of Hadestown doesn’t sound fun at all. (Poor Gladys over there, she’s been rum-running to Hades ever since the blizzard.)

‘Kicking Daisies’ - dancing really hard. If you stomp and swing your feet enough times, you’re bound to tear up some poor family of flowers. Whoops. Also, ‘Daisy Kickers’ are good dancers. (Hey, check those two out, kickin’ daisies like no tomorrow!)

‘Lick Coins’ - Die 💔 . Charon’s Obol refers to (a) coin(s) placed either over the eyes or on/in the mouth of a dead person before burial. (And you know what I told those jerks? I told ‘em they could lick coins!)

‘Storming’ - Fighting. When Persephone and Hades fight, a storm brews. (Oi, quit storming over there! Break it up!)

Down Below:

“Dog-Collar” - in rough terms, the cops. This one has a bit more context: The original phrase was ‘dog-caller’, which referred to the handlers of Hadestown’s vicious hellhounds. Over time, though, the phrase became ‘dog-collar’, because the dog handlers themselves are seen as Hades’s pesky watch dogs that keep everyone else in line. So what started as a general term ended up as an insult. Sometimes the phrase is shortened to just ‘collars’. (Aw, shit, here come the dog-collars.)

‘Cog’ - a worker. I don’t think we need context for this one. (35 new cogs registered into the machine today.)

‘The Machine’ - Hadestown. See previous term for an example.

‘Unemployed’ - Anyone who is alive. Stole this one right out of Papers. (’Hades, I know this boy!’ ‘One of the unemployed?’)

‘Rattler’ - Loose term for A) someone who is easily frightened/a scaredy-cat, or B) someone who, for whatever reason, is quite prone to screwing up the rhythm of Hadestown. Not only do people shake when scared, they look ‘rattled’. Fear also means no focus, and a lack of focus leads to interrupted, rattled, production. (Who is that damn rattler kickin’ up a fuss in Sector B?)

‘Canary’ - newbie. Canaries were used in coal mines to detect the level of toxic fumes in the workplace. Bonus points if the ‘canary’ can, in fact, sing. (Look at the canaries over there. Recognize any of them?)

Note: some slang from Down Below can be used Up Top, and vice versa, though depending on whether your ceiling is made of starlight or stalactites, reactions can range from confusion to hostility. For example, saying 'Dog-Collar' up top is fairly normal, while 'unemployed' is... bootlick-y. Likewise, telling the dead to 'lick coins' is considered rude, and 'kicking daisies' is entirely unheard of down there.

I'm making this post specifically for a new follower @crescentstudies to say:

This blog has a lot of MCYT stuff aka content related with Minecraft roleplay. Just so you're aware. This blog is very much my personal blog which kinda translates to a lot of fandom stuff. I know you followed me because you found one of the few Portuguese related posts I make. Now, I am very passionate about my language and culture and absolutely love discussing it but unfortunately I'm also obsessed with block people. I say this as a warning for the future of your dashboard

That being said the fact that you're learning European Portuguese is really sweet, and I assume it's not easy to find resources, at least not as easy as Brazilian Portuguese. So I'm gonna do a bit of a cultural post where I give something that I think is essential for learning a language; finding fun content that is culturally relevant. A lot of times when learning a language you see a lot about language and rules and although that can be fun sometimes it can quickly get really boring. Sometimes finding some content isn't easy when you're learning the language and aren't emersed in the culture.

My Portuguese music recommendation

A list for people who are interested in the culture or just want to hear some different music from a different country. Of course the music I'm gonna give is gonna depend on what I like and what I know, so you're not gonna get Pimba from me (for context Pimba is like... Usually very simple formulaic Portuguese pop songs that are played at parties... Not the kind your parties you're probably thinking of but more like festivals with a lot of people. It's not really good music in a cultural sense, and the music style is kinda stolen from Germany but that's a whole other story)

Let's start with a song that came out this year! Some might recognise this girl as the one that represented Portugal in Eurovision two years ago. I believe she has a lot of great songs, both in English and Portuguese. I'm sharing this one as I find the acoustic guitars in it absolutely beautiful.

(Flashing TW) Alternative Rock babyyy!!!! Even if you don't understand the lyrics this one is still fun as hell, although understanding them does make the song better of course. It's about how the singer is having a bad day so he's gonna be really really pissy about it. A comedy song! A very weird song that describes the tragic deaths of various animals upon touching lightbulbs. It's not in standard Portuguese, very much on purpose, but in the Alentejo dialect. I guarantee it's funnier than in it sounds by the description. Unfortunately this is a song where you do have to understand the lyrics to get it, but if you do It's really good. The images this person is putting on the video do make it 10× better too, as they are doing surprisingly well at showcasing the whole story the song is telling.

Tell me what your WIP and OCs are about

*So for honesty's sake I have to say this does take place in the same universe as an old 1998 point-and-click adventure game. However you don't need any knowledge of it whatsoever to understand the story. The plot and characters and even some settings are written entirely by me but this is in fact a Grim Fandango Tale.*

Everyone is dead. When people die they are reduced to bone and wrapped up in a husk, patiently awaiting whatever reaper is assigned to them to venture back to the Land of the Living and cut them free. But that's only the beginning, as once they are brought to the Land of the Dead they are faced with a treacherous and perilous land filled with dangers and disasters and monsters and jazz and art deco and so much walking!

See, each grim reaper has two jobs. Not only do they go and reap souls into the Land of the Dead, but they also double as travel agents to aid in the Four-Year Journey of the Soul from the Land of the Dead to the 9th Underworld, otherwise refered to as the Land of Eternal Rest. Depending on how virtuous a life you lead (and how much money you were buried with), you could qualify for better travel experiences besides walking the whole way on-foot; from sports cars, to ocean liners, or even a ticket on an express train that takes you across the Land of the Dead in 4 minutes instead of 4 years!

Enter Béla Balogh!

Petulant, terrible at sales, and most assuredly not named Bella, Béla trudges through his everyday life (death?) with a commonly mispronounced name, a misunderstood passion for painting flowers, and a misplaced hatred for a job he knows he never should have taken. He was offered the robe and scythe as a means to redeem himself, slowly working his way out of the Department of Death and into the 9th Underworld via railway, but it's kind of difficult for reapers to make commission when none of their clients ever seem to qualify for anything good. And as the days turned to weeks, and eventually years, with no end in sight, Béla began to wonder whether or not the clients he was receiving really were as sinful as their files made them out to be. After all, there had been whisperings around the office about a certain level of corruption beginning to take root in the Department of Death. But why was it somehow only Béla who ended up assigned to the ones who only ever qualified for walking sticks and hiking boots? He had many times considered abandoning the office and striking out to take on the Land of the Dead himself. But even among reapers, it was widely understood that an entire 4-year journey across the Land of the Dead on-foot was akin to a second death wish, especially if ventured alone. And so Béla stayed, disgruntled and yearning for a chance to one day finally break out of his prison of pencils and paperclips. Until along came Loca.

Enter Loca Servantes!

Soft-spoken, freshly dead, and scared out of her skin (literally), this poor woman assumed she would finally find the peace that came with the sweet release of death and instead was reaped by Béla to a cold, cruel, unfamiliar land that supposedly wanted to kill her again. It was bad enough that she was matched with a travel agent indifferent to his clients' well-being, but when her file somehow reported her to be a mob hitman in her previous life, she was left with no choice but to be turned away and face the Land of the Dead alone.

But could this little woman be the very thing Béla needs to finally get out? Would they each take the risk of seeking Heaven through a violent and unforgiving world in the company of a complete stranger?

Secrets will be unveiled, flowers will bloom, bones will shatter, and hearts will mend

Are you named after anyone?

50%-50%? My parents swear that they weren't influenced by Greta Garbo in any way or form - they just liked the name. Stella is for my great-grandmother (hungarian origins, archetype of the "strong woman of the family definitely born in the wrong era").

When was the last time you cried?

Last week. <- Same, wohoo! But it wasn't a big cathartic cry - kind of a disappointing one, really. Yes, I'm a Pisces, of course I sort the act of crying in different categories.

Do you have kids?

Premise: I don't hate kids, and I feel strongly about the fact that they should be more respected as individuals / human beings with their own agency. That being said, I'd rather torn my uterus apart with my bare hands. Or gift it to somebody who wants it. So no: I never wanted any.

What sports do you play/have you played?

Various - tennis for a few years, soccer at school, some athletics. But my love was (is?) dancing - I did modern jazz and then contemporary dance for about seven years. Currently I'm taking hatha yoga classes, which is quite painful most of the time - but necessary, since I have a full time office job and I'm glued to the chair.

Do you use sarcasm?

Me? Never ;)

What’s the first thing you notice about people?

How they move/occupy the space they are in: if they use a lot their hands while talking, how they laugh, their voice etc. I'm a "I first see the broader context and then the single detail" person. And no, I don't judge.

What’s your eye color?

Green/grey

Scary movies or happy endings comedies?

It depends on the definition of 'scary', I suppose. Since that's ambiguous, I'll go with comedies. The right answer is: period dramas, obviously.

Any talents?

I have a very strong memory (name/surname and voice and things they confessed to me of my classmates from Scuola Media, and that was 15+ years ago), which is both useful and anxiety-inducing. I have a pretty good balance, and with some stretching I think I can still put my foot behind my neck?

Where were you born?

In a hospital ;)

What are your hobbies?

Painting/drawing, swimming, photography, reading, trying to find plants that I won't manage to kill. And listening to music - I'm useless with instruments, tho. BUT I do have an electric guitar that my father gave me and I'd love to try to learn something, as soon as I'm not renting and I have a proper place.

Do you have any pets?

Does a seaweed (yes, a marimo) count as a pet? I grew up with a dog, and he died many years ago. Since then I had no pets. Now that I live on my own (very discreet flatmate aside) I'd like to have a cat, but I think it would be better to have a bigger flat, and just more space in general. I'd hate for them to feel bored and costricted, it doesn't feel fair. Right now I don't plan on getting another dog, for various reasons.

How tall are you?

My ID cards have different ideas: the new one says 168 cm, the old one said 170 cm. We shall never know!

Favorite subject in school?

Art history, history, philosophy, biology, and chemistry applied to fine arts.

Dream job?

AHAHA Anyway! Illustrator or teacher. Ideally both. I'd love to work in a museum too, since I already have some experience in that field. Overall, I guess that I need a mentally stimulating job that makes me feel like I'm doing something meaningful - in a way or another. (This is why I briefly considered looking into art therapy, but knowing myself I'd just feel like a huge fraud). ...and I just noticed that all my dream jobs are based on communication (either through visual arts or...talking?) and relating to other people, which is hilarious considering my whole self.

Last songs I listened to: i am currently listening to one of those mixes 'in jazz, the dub is everything'. i've been listening to chicano batman a lot. song of the last few days would probably be 'cupid' (sang by amy winehouse)

Currently watching: nothing at the very moment, but i am in the middle of the handmaiden. it's okay. i might watch something later like scarecrow or the lovers on the bridge or something else if i don't fall asleep

Currently reading: currently in my "basal state" of reading which means i just read a lil bit these days… but i am trying to finish the count of monte cristo before it finishes me. also i am skimming a few books on biotechnology for class, i don't know much about it, but for now it's pretty interesting. i started 'a planet of viruses' by carl zimmer today, a small book, because i have a virology class and i think i study better when i explore on my own

Self: How is your OC's relationship with themself? Does your OC like who they are? Is there anything about themself that they would change?

Oh god very bad. Self-rival bad brain morass going on in there. They view themself more in terms of what use they are to other people, and unfortunately they don't think they have anything to offer except their mess of a crusade. Too sharp too strange too dangerous for anything else.

But the thing is they also don't... really want to change any elements of themself? They can't be anything other than what they are-- or, even if they change, become softer, more open, they still contain those other versions of themself, they don't stop existing just because they're out of sight? and they're torn between wanting that self to vanish within the safer names and shapes they wrap themselves in or just vanish altogether, and wanting that self to be seen and accepted and allowed to exist in plain sight.

Know: How well does your OC know themself—their wants, their goals, their motivations? Do they engage in any sort of self-reflection? Is there anything about themself they willfully ignore?

Ars Tries Very Hard not to think about themself. Blank Spot in the middle of their own perception, look Outward instead of Inward. They have approximate knowledge of their goals and motivations, although a lot of those are wrapped in a sort of. Recentering Off of themself? It's all in terms of getting justice for Anathema, in tearing things apart for other people, not in terms of their own hurt and pain (that is 100% factoring in to their decisions! they're just firmly not thinking about it being a factor).

And their wants, well. Those are Unimportant, even the ones they know they have, so what's the point in examining them? They want things, sure, yeah, but wanting them isn't enough anymore.

Arsinoe's in just. such a strange place about self-reflection. Because there's certain things they'll mull over and over again, refuse to let fade to background noise, but most of those are the things that hurt them? Museum diorama mindscape, preserve everything how it Was and very carefully not thinking about the fact that they could be wrong about their Totally Objective View of things. And all things considered they have a fairly firm sense of self, they just. Can't consistently articulate it to people.

Friendship: What's your OC like as a friend? How are they at making new friends? What are the most important friendships in your OC's life?

I think BB considers a lot of people friends on a very surface level. He knows your name and smiles and nods hi and sometimes you get coffee but neither of you actually know what's going on in each other's more personal life, you know? Breaking the Sidestep Mold (because he's only sometimes a Sidestep) to front as Politely Friendly most of the time.

Actually close friends he has significantly fewer of. You've gotta unwind fifteen layers of his nonsense masks off first. When he's not being Sidestep, he and Ars were the original Ride Or Die team back during the farm days. Mutually deeply protective and very specific about not showing that externally when they could avoid it because that's a big no-no and a potential weakspot. When he IS Sidestep, he was genuinely very close to Julia back in the step days! Secret crush that was like 75% gender envy (it's faded out pretty much entirely esp after he flirts with her as the puppet LMAO 'oh im. hm. not actually into her anymore. interesting. wonder what that's about.') but even without that their like. Different personas that are Still Them depending on the social context sort of rhymes???

Friendship: What's your OC like as a friend? How are they at making new friends? What are the most important friendships in your OC's life?

Ris is a fantastic friend thank you and they're very proud of that. With them I'm trying to manifest like. Biker who has a kitten in their jacket energy. Absolute sweetheart. Deeply loyal, quick to make friends when that loyalty is returned (and even sometimes when it isn't but they're trying to make Healthy Choices lol). They're more reticent about talking about their own issues, because they're not supposed to be the one who needs help, they're supposed to do the helping.

Important friendship-wise, historically, pre-BG3 plot, their best friend is a Triton named Pike who is also their ex (affectionate). Pike's a pirate whose crew briefly pseudo-adopted a teenaged Ris for a bit while they were Rebounding from their ex (derogatory). The two of them broke up when it was generally agreed that Ris didn't make a very good pirate and should stop hanging out on a pirate ship LOL. They still keep in touch and Ris does consistently introduce them as "this is my ex pike." It's a running joke.

I don't want to turn this into a whole Ramble but them @ the whole party is basically "ive known these people for three weeks and i would commit murders for them" but some of that's probably the trauma bonding: this time with hivemind lite!

To the people bringing back tired claims that bts made their success off being “carbon copies” of their 2nd gen contemporaries (because we all know bts’ debut music was what blew them up, right??), or my favorite, that we “can acknowledge their originality up to a certain point, but armys need to admit bts get inspiration from other artists”:

Congratulations, you are correct! Because guess what, nothing exists in a vacuum and you clearly have no idea what the process of art-making entails.

I don’t know whose reality I’m about to shatter when I say this but...artists study other artists *mind-blown* Except this isn’t news because you hear idols say all the time how they’re inspired by or look up to other peers in the industry all. of. the. time. But it’s cute when 4th gen idols say it and a crime when bts does it?

There’s a reason why art students are made to take art history classes. Yes, to study the greats, but also to know how artworks/artists exist & are informed by their situational context, i.e. time period, geography, politics, societal norms, etc. And why as you develop your body of work, professors will constantly point to references of other artists who work with similar themes, materials, and so forth because it can only help guide your artistic practice; it all becomes wisdom. But moreso, everything exists in conversation with each other. You can literally point to any song from any group and understand where they pulled their sound from in the larger tradition of musical instrumentation and composition.

I’m also convinced that the people saying bts are “copies” of bap, blockb, and bigbang have not familiarized themselves with the discographies of any of these artists at all (I really need people to listen to full albums and not just title tracks). Just because they’ve overlapped in genres, does not mean they sound the same. Blockb’s hiphop sound is very stylized and contrasts that which bts utilized. While both bts and blockb’s early music was very old school hiphop, hiphop is not a monolith; and the genre itself varies drastically depending on regionality like east coast/west coast (back then at least). And while we’re here, you’ve noticed that these other groups bts “copied” also got their inspiration from 90s American rap and hiphop, right? Same goes for r&b, trap, jazz and all these genres that have their roots in Western Black culture. Kpop borrows from everything. Also in an industry that heavily follows trends, you are going to find similarities among artists from time to time, that’s just how it goes.

Also, funny how y’all never bring up the way the entire kpop industry is trying to follow the bts model. It isn’t a coincidence that a bunch of fourth generation groups now have their own story line universes that are embedded into their mv’s, or how everyone is producing their own long-form, online variety content because they know that sustained audience engagement over time was part of the bts recipe for success (Top Social Artists, anyone?). Have I talked about her before? Idk.... Buuuuuuuuuut, I FINALLY have a name for the character I codenamed Artist for a while! Her name is Tess. Mostly got the idea from how younger me was obsessed with that name and wanted to go by it (I don't want to anymore but I still think it's a very pretty name). Her last name has been lost to time and she never really cared about it enough to remember. ... I'm mostly using that as an exuse not to come up with one 👍

So as her code name already explains, Tess is an artist. She's also been dead for a good millenia now if not longer. The place she occupies doesn't really keep track of time sooooo......

One of the solid foundations of my idea for her is that she was a very normal and average person when she was alive but she was happy. Like she lived out on the countryside some place peaceful and nothing big or crazy every really happened to her. She just painted and sketched and maybe made jam and soup. A real cottagecore life right there. She also never did anything with her art. Not to say that's a bad thing. She just drew for herself and made art because it made her happy. She also was very good friends with her neighbors and all that jazz. Bottom line, her life was completely peaceful and overall, not that exciting but she doesn't regret anything and in her eyes, she had a good life.

Now the real juicy interesting stuff happens after she dies. Idk how she dies like idk if I want her to die of old age or have her die youngish due to some tragic accident that was no one's fault. I'll work on that later....

So when Tess dies, something in the afterlife and dimensional continium fucks up real bad and her soul accidently ends up in a place outside reality and the land of the deceased. I don't have a name for it so I kind of just call it the Library but I might end up making that its actual name idk.

The Library is basically like this BIIIIIIIIIIIIIG infinite archive of books that hold the history of all dimensions (when I say all dimensions I mostly mean just information on all my other stories but depending on the context and what I write about concerning the Library it can include information on dimensions and worlds of media I'm hyperfixated on too). And the caretaker and owner of the Library is the Librarian who also still needs a name but Librarian is her code name right now. Literally all I have for how she looks is that she kind of looks like an owl and she has those librarian glasses with the chains on them. I doubt I've talked about her before and I'm too lazy to go and check but she's a god and her godly profession is maintaining the library and recording the events of different worlds and filing said information away. She's also got this observation room where she can spectate on the ongoings of different worlds and it has some mystical big pool or crystal ball or something in it idk she's still a big WIP and I'm still ironing out all the details and you knowwwww.... Long story short, she's one of those beings that has a big archive containing the history of everything and everyone like the Chronicler from The Legend of Spyro. Oh also, important, her library can't tell the future and only the present and the past. She also rolls her eyes at the notion of future sight.

Sooooooo Tess shows up here and she's understandably confused and the Librarian is like "You're not supposed to be here who the hell are you????" so she puts Tess in some room like a kid who was just found wandering lost around a building and has been put in a breakroom while somone goes and tries to find their parents. I don't have this next bit fine lined yet, but she ends up leaving the room and poking around in the books on some world and gets some inspiration for a drawing and draws out a scene from this supposed innocent little book which she doesn't know are actual real events in some world. And the Librarian sees it and is like "... Huh. That's a pretty good drawing actually." and one thing leads to another and Tess is allowed to stay in the Library and she and the Librarian become friends. So now Tess spends eternity keeping the Librarian company and watching/reading events happen in worlds and makes paintings and drawings of them whenever inspiration or motivation strikes. She even has a section of the library for her art gallery.

She also makes friends with the sentinels in the library(basically a bunch of magical securty guards that serve as a defense against intruders) and chats and plays board games with them on occasion when they aren't busy. Board games can range from chess to a whole slew of other games she's learned about from different dimensions. She becomes very skilled at pretty much all board and card games in existence after a while. Not to mention her art skills continue to improve over the thousands of years she's been in the library.

I'm unsure when exactly she starts doing this, but she eventually gets the privelage of visiting worlds with certain restrictions in place. She can't interfere in the plots of those worlds or tell inhabitants of said worlds things they aren't supposed to know about or anything like that. She also has to be careful when visiting worlds because the only places she's able to go are places within liminal space. She's still dead and if she were to wander outside a liminal space while in a world, she'd be at the mercy of the laws of death of that world and the Librarian would be unable to help her as it would be outside her juristiction as a god after that.

It used to just be an idea but I think I most likely will end up making her become a god of creativity, wonder, art, and the joy and happiness that comes with creating at some point. She'll no longer have to worry about getting stuck in some other world's afterlife after that. She'll also be like, the new dawn of creator gods when that happens. I'm too lazy to go into detail on that right now...

aNYWAY, so I don't think Tony would object if this is before Quentin works for SI, just because there's no reason for him to have any red flags since he never met him. But, yeah, otherwise Carter would absolutely listen to Tony, but she'd also make her own opinions on the matter - like, with Pietro, we all know Tony is not happy about it (which I mean,,, kinda fair sdkjhfsdj), but while Carter has heard him out on it, she isn't gonna be breaking up with Pietro over it, because she knows who Pietro is. With Quentin, the issue comes with his manipulation, sooo I could see it going either way! I think it depends on the situation and how long she'd been with him and all that jazz

and, for the SI job thing, I mentioned it because I can see him hoping for some good ol' nepotism to kick in lol, but yeah he definitely doesn't need to like. hang his whole hope of getting into SI on it. So he would definitely be into her, but it'd kinda be a mix of factors of him wanting to be with her.

but, I do wanna say, I did think about it some more, and I think I'm just gonna scrap the idea of them dating in college and keeping it as an alt verse thing, since I do have a plan of how that would work out jhfdsj - they'd start dating like,,, maybe four years post-iw? And they would've met before then and been friends (with Quentin befriending her to try and get to Tony, and later dating her for the same reason since Tony would've pulled the BARF thing by then), and with Carter wanting to take things slow in a relationship, she's not one to really start talking about her partner until things progress and they're both comfortable with being in a relationship (like, outside testing the waters). She tells Tony she's seeing someone, but, doesn't say who it is! So Tony can't sit her down and lay things out from what he knows of Quentin. She does this because Quentin asked her to, and she didn't see any problems with this, because Quentin seemed freaked out as in "holy shit your dad is Iron Man I don't wanna die" and not "your dad stole my tech and fired me and I hate his guts and don't want him figuring out my plans". She does start getting a little suspicious as he keeps it up for however long they're together because they're serious at that point and she would like to introduce her dad to Quentin because of it, but she also wants to respect Quentin's wishes. Also, there's a quote I've seen floating around tumblr from boj.ack hor.seman (I haven't watched the show, btw, so idk the full context), where one of the character's says, "You know, it's funny. When you look at someone through rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags.", and that absolutely applies to Carter in this scenario.

anyway, their relationship goes on for about a year? maybe a lil less? but before Carter can sit him down and really dig into the issue of him refusing to meet her father/let her talk about him to her father, eg happens. Tony dies, or maybe not (I don't,,, have strong feelings - it's just an open option for threads since I ignored eg as is sfdjhgfsd), so that absolutely gets pushed aside because Carter has bigger problems going on. Quentin also has problems, because either Tony's dead or hella out of commission, and his plans are just,,, falling apart. He and Carter start fighting over various things, and their relationship starts falling apart. Carter ends up leaving because his temper absolutely starts scaring her, and then Quentin does all his shit as Mysterio and whatnot. Same motive to overrun Tony's legacy to get back at him for BARF and all that, just a deviation beforehand.
