The sun had barely begun its drop into the horizon, painting the sky with hues of pink and orange, when you stepped outside the bakery for a quick cigarette break. You were a student at the local art school, working part-time at the bakery to make ends meet.
As you lit up your cigarette, you closed your eyes and took a deep drag, feeling the warmth of the smoke fill your lungs. You exhaled slowly, watching the gray tendrils of smoke mix with the vibrant colors of the sunset.
It was on one of these evenings that you noticed him.
His name was Matt, a rich college student who seemed to have it all, He would come to the bakery every Monday and Friday and sometimes on weekends, always at this time, to buy something.
At first, you assumed it was for his girlfriend, as he would always buy something pink and frilly, but as the days went by, you couldn't help but wonder why he always seemed to choose this bakery, and why he always came at this exact time.
One night, as you were wiping down the counter, you glanced up and caught him looking at you. His eyes were low, almost piercing, and for a moment, you felt as though you could feel his gaze on your skin. And you quickly averted your eyes, feeling a blush creep up your neck. From that moment on, you found yourself becoming more aware of him, his presence, and the way he made you feel.
As the days went by, you couldn't help but wonder what he was really doing here almost every evening. Was he seeing someone else? Was he married? These questions filled your mind, and you found yourself fantasizing about him late at night, his face engraved into your memory. You began to look forward to his visits, even if it was just for a moment of a stolen glance or a simple 'hey, how are you doing today?'
You took one last drag from your cigarette, throwing it under your shoe before turning back toward the bakery.
As you stepped through the doorway, you felt a flutter in your stomach as you caught sight of none other than Matt himself, standing at the counter, chatting with the cashier. His eyes met yours, and for a split second, you felt like the entire world had vanished, leaving just the two of you.
"Hello," he said, his voice quiet and smooth, as he waved you over to the counter. You couldn't help but smile shyly in response, feeling a wave of heat wash over your cheeks. "I'm sorry if I've been a bit…distracting, coming here almost every night. I just can't seem to stop thinking about this place, and the desserts you make." His gaze lingered on you for a moment, and As you stood there, a sudden sensation swirled in the pit of your stomach.
It was as if a thousand butterflies had suddenly taken flight within you, their wings beating in perfect unison.
'I know ' is what you wanted to say, but that just sounds creepy. Instead, you smiled and said, "It's alright, really. I'm glad you like the desserts." His smile widened, revealing a dimple on his cheek.
You spent the rest of your shift talking with Matt, finding yourself lost in conversation as the hours slipped by. You learned that he was majoring in business, but had always had a passion for writing and art, much like yourself.
As the bakery began to close for the night, you found yourselves outside, the cool air of the evening surrounding you. "I know that we don't know each other that well but…do you…do you want to get something to eat?" he asked, his voice soft and hesitant.
You felt a rush run through you at his invitation. "I'd like that," you replied, trying to sound casual, but not quite managing it.
You followed him to a small, cozy restaurant a few blocks away. The lights were dim, the atmosphere warm and inviting. The waiter led you to a booth in the back, and as you slid in beside Matt, you couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement building within you.
As you scanned the menu, Matt leaned in close, his breath tickling your ear. "What would you like to eat?" he asked, his voice low.
Your heart raced at his closeness, and you had to remind yourself to breathe as you answered, "I'll have the salmon if it's okay." He nodded, still watching you closely, before looking back at the menu. "I'll have the same," he murmured, before handing the menu back to the waiter.
As you waited for your food, you couldn't help but study Matt's face. He was even more handsome up close, with his dark brown hair and piercing blue eyes. He caught you staring and smiled shyly, his dimple appearing again. "What are you thinking about?" he asked, his voice gentle.
You felt your cheeks heat up as you realized you'd been caught, but you didn't mind. "Nothing important," you replied with a small laugh. "Just enjoying the moment."
The food arrived, and you both dug in, savoring the flavors. Conversation flowed easily between you, touching on everything from your favorite books and movies to your dreams and goals. You found yourself lost in his gaze, forgetting about the world around you as the hours ticked by.
And as the evening wore on, you grew bolder, leaning in closer to him, laughing at his jokes, and getting a little touchy. He seemed to enjoy your company as much as you enjoyed his.
The waiter brought over the check, and Matt reached for his wallet, but you quickly placed your hand on top of his. "I've got it," you insisted, smiling at him. He looked at you for a moment like you grew a third eye "Well that's crazy," he said before quickly grabbing your hand and handing the waiter the check. "But thank you for offering." He smiled and you were too distracted by the fact that he was still holding your hand to even complain.
After dinner, you both decided to walk off some of your meal. The air was cool and crisp, the stars shining bright overhead. Matt looped his arm through yours, and you felt a shiver run down your spine. "Where to?" he asked, his voice playful. You glanced around, taking in your surroundings. There was a small park just a block over, and it seemed like a nice, quiet place. "How about the park?" you suggested, already beginning to lead him in that direction.
As you walked, you felt as if you were floating, unaware of anything except the moment you were sharing with this guy that you've been fantasizing about for god knows how long.
The park was beautiful, with well-manicured yards and all different types of flowers. You found yourselves sitting on a bench, gazing out at the fountain, the water dancing and sparkling in the glow of the moonlight.
You couldn't remember the last time you had felt this comfortable and at ease with someone.
The silence between you wasn't awkward, but instead felt natural, like you didn't need words to communicate.
After several moments of companionable silence, he offered to walk you home since it was getting late. You smiled and agreed, you both walked hand in hand back to your neighborhood.
And as you neared your house, you felt a strange mix of nervousness and excitement. You weren't sure if you wanted this to end, it all felt like a dream that you never wanted to wake up from.
When you finally reached your doorstep, you turned to face him, wanting to say something but not quite sure what. He must have sensed this too, because he leaned in and gently brushed a piece of hair behind your ear. His touch sent a shiver down your spine. "I had a really good time tonight," he murmured, his eyes searching yours for the same honesty. You smiled softly up at him and nodded. "Me too."
You were feeling extra bold, so you got on your tiptoes and leaned in, giving him a small peck on the cheek. His eyes widened slightly, and for a moment you wondered if you had gone too far, but then he closed them and leaned into your touch.
"Well," you said, trying to keep your voice steady, "thank you again for dinner." He smiled "Goodnight Matt," you said before turning the key in the lock and disappearing inside. You couldn't help but glance back out the window, watching as he walked away.

Gonna be honest I'm a little nervous to send this because I'm a longtime lurker, but life is short, yanno? Anyways I just wanted to say that while I have literally never watched Wednesday (I will if they make those lil lesbians canon tho lol) your art seriously got me into Wenclair which in turn helped be work through some major art/writing block, so I just wanted to say thank you. Even if you aren't doing it now, seeing your art and the progress you've made with your fankid Vega (who is adorable and I totally didn't put in one of my design inspo docs no way) was so genuinely inspiring that I just have to thank you for it. Sorry if your a little sick of hearing about the show/ship now that you're interested in something else (which I get on a personal level, hyperfixations am I right?) I just felt like it was better late then never.
Tl,dr: Thank you!
No, please don't apologize! I'm really really touched and honored to hear that. It's still so surreal to think about how many other people made fanart and fanfics and even fanvids of Vega and the rest of the characters in my AU. Fan content of a fankid... this fandom will be one of my favorites of the ones I've been in ever for that. I'm so happy they were so well-received and loved. Someday if I ever go back to making my own original content again I hope I could have an audience just as captivated.

I haven't posted a lot of art lately because I've been having a major performance anxiety-induced art block while I'm working on my entry for an exhibit in my city but! I finished the first of three pieces! I'm planning a series of portraits that highlight the tender/loving/joyful aspects of bdsm 🌺

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
haha that's a lot of messages!
hi! i'm not dead <3 I'm back! sorry for my sudden disappearance! I've been busy with life! I've been on the grind for college and art, and somehow along the path I got a boyfriend ??? He uh. knows I make this fanfic, so maybe he can get me to update this faster
To be totally transparent, I have not written much. Like at all. I hit a major writing block before disappearing and then time flew and now we're here!
Am I dropping this story? Nope! I plan to update and finish this thing, even if it takes me months between updates, sorry about that haha
Well, I'll be working on chapter 17 now! I felt bad so I have the entirety of what I HAVE written below! It's just the intro flashback like usual so there's not much, sorry about that :(
“I’m surprised you said no to Sonya’s offer.”
You stared ahead, watching the sunrise over the cityscape. Gold and pinks stained the sky, the colors seeping into the clouds that passed by overhead. The air, though it’s been a week since the final showdown, still felt like it was scented with the ashes and blood of those who shouldn’t have died. Maybe it was because of your animalistic traits, but you swore it smelt fresh too. You tried not to close your eyes, or else you’d see those things again.
“Is it really that surprising?” You asked. Your voice was scratchy. You couldn’t tell if it was due to a lack of speaking or too much speaking. How much silence and talking you’ve been taking felt murky. The whole last week felt like a blur, in all honesty. You rose a hand up, massaging your throat. You heard a shift, and finally you allowed yourself to look at your companion.
“In all honesty?” Johnny’s voice felt like it had lost much of the grandeur. If you were feeling in a better mood, you would have maybe even joked about the rather plain way he was speaking. Making jokes, however, was the last thing on your mind. You watched him carefully, his shoulders slumping forward as he took a good long stare at you. Did you look as much of a wreck as you felt? You felt your body try and straighten up, to attempt to look somewhat put together. “Yeah, I kinda am.”
“Why?” You asked, still analyzing the actor. There was a long stretch of time where the both of you simply stared at each other. You noted the uncharacteristic eyebags, and just how…normal he looked. “Isn’t it obvious I would choose to stay with Lord Raiden and help those back at the White Lotus?” You inquired further. A tone of offense slipped into your tone, one that you only noticed until you saw the slight cringe from the man.
“Well, yeah, I guess.” Johnny replied, his face scrunching up slightly. It seems he was still reeling a bit at your harsher tone. “But you seemed so…adamant about working with Sonya over the last week. You wouldn’t even rest, sleep, or eat until either she or I practically dragged you out of whatever task you busied yourself with.” He pointed out.
“I’m just a hard worker.” You excused yourself. You decided to ignore the very, very pointed and judgemental look the actor sent your way. Hard worker was not even an understatement, it was simply wrong. You weren’t working to earn merits. You were working to distract yourself. Catching your mind drifting, you stared down at your hands, noting the many more calluses that would form from how much you’ve been writing lately.
You don’t think you’ve written this much in ages.
“Listen, I’m not stupid. I’m not going to make you spit out whatever’s been bugging you, because I think you won’t, and I feel like I already know what it is. But I will say I do know what it looks like when someone’s trying to drown themselves in something to distract themselves.” The actor told you in a strangely stern voice. He crossed his arms, staring you down. “But like I said, I know there’s no point in carrying that point on.” He sighed, running a hand through his unusually unstyled hair. “So what are you even planning on doing when you go back?”
You paused, looking at the actor. Was he that good at reading people, or were you that exhausted that you could not even put up a convincing front anymore? You searched his face, trying to figure out which answer was the right one. Maybe it was both, you couldn’t tell anymore.
“Anything to help the world recover.” You told Johnny Cage. You knew your answer was vague, but you guessed it was better than nothing. Plus, what you said was true. You were planning on doing anything to help your community to rebuild. Whether it be helping rebuild the building of the Wu Shi itself after the invasion years ago, or to train new initiates with your father, you were willing to do it.
You could not let what happened last week ever happen again. Not as long as you were alive.
“Sounds like a tall task.” Johnny said, his gaze now settled on the pinkened horizon. There was a bit of wistfulness to his voice, as if acknowledging the terribly difficult task you had placed upon yourself. There was no doubt in his voice, though. Instead, it felt as if he knew that you’d be true to your word, even if it meant your doom.
“What about you?” You asked, suddenly feeling awkward as the conversation had died out. You hadn’t wanted your conversation with him to be entirely about you. Not only was it something you weren’t all too fond of in the first place, but it felt wrong especially when your conversation partner was someone as ostentatious as the actor. “What are your plans now? To go back to acting?”
“Honestly? Thought about that for a bit.” Johnny admitted, shrugging. There was a certain type of look on his face, one that seemed long for normalcy that he could never have back. “But after seeing all of this shit? I don’t think I could return to that life. I was planning on taking Sonya’s offer to join the Special Forces, kinda hoping you would too.”
“Really?” You said, unable to hide the surprise in your voice. Your eyebrows rose, before you felt a soft huff leave your lips. “Was it so you could have a friend in the force, or is it so you could have someone to bug in the force?”
“A bit of both.” The actor, or rather, soon to be ex actor, said. A hint of his signature smile was sent your way, and he crossed his arms. as he looked at you from the corner of his eye. “With how long we’ve known each other, I can’t say I hate you. I could have done without the whole doom impending tournament that made us meet, though. Not a big fan. Plus, you being there would mean there’s one less hard ass there I’d have to deal with.”
“I’m honored.” You replied, hoping the sarcasm you were attempting was getting through even with your dry tone. There was a beat that passed as you considered your next words. “I’m not going away forever, Cage.” There was what you assumed was relief that twinkled in his eyes as you told him that. “I’m sure there will be help that Raiden will need from the Special Forces, and vice versa. Plus, I already told Sonya this, but if we hear anything about those revenants that Raiden spoke of, I want in. Not to mention, I’ll be sure to write.”
“Good to know you’re not abandoning us.” Johnny joked, but there was sincerity within his voice. He seemed genuinely glad you were not going to ditch any of them any time soon.

So I've been having random thoughts and ideas (as one normally does, except most of those get scrapped 5 minutes later), and I think I finally found a concept that I can share here.
Now hear me out: A YGO college AU, but with a twist. It's a funny little game club- however, instead of starring the protagonists...
...it's all about the main antagonists.
History major Bakura, who founded the club just to play Capsule Monsters, and ended up with a group of weirdos after several Duels and DnD campaigns and nights of wailing about assignment deadlines. His sharp and creepy demeanor tends to be offputting, but it belies a lonely nerd who only knows how to communicate his feelings through a round of games.
Goth guitarist Yubel, the one nobody knows anything about other than their banger heavy metal music and penchant for weird humor. Rumor has it they've been held back for several years now, but given their oddly low profile, nobody can say anything for sure. Pretty chill player for the most part... but lord help you if you destroy anything on their field by card effect in a Duel.
Engineering alumnus Z-ONE, who has never ever said his real name in the club, and acts very much like a grandpa despite only being 29 (which earned him the affectionate title of Peepaw). You'd think someone of his occupation would be well-studied in their interests and hobbies, but the poor man loses 8/10 Duels simply because he refuses to change his Deck out of sentimentality. Power of promises made to late friends, or something like that.
Security officer Don Thousand, real name Adonis, father of seven and saltier than the dead sea can ever be. This man holds so much spite it's actually impressive, and his only proper vent for it is playing card games with weird teens when his shift ends. He tends to wear a perpetual scowl when out and about -that would explain his generally unapproachable vibe- and yet, for some inexplicable reason, he seems to be a lot less gloomy when it's time to visit the club. Quite curious, indeed.
Fine arts major Zarc, the one theatre kid of all time. Don't let the sweet smile fool you; the guy has an uncanny affinity for villain impressions, and he puts it to good use in all games- with a dash of dramatic flair, of course. That said, this is the same kid who goes all sparkly-eyed if one mentions even a peep of card lore in his vicinity, and melts into an excited little puddle whenever a new set or lore book is released. Thus is the duality of the Supreme King, apparently.
Computer science major Ai, the shiny new freshman on the block, who works at the college cafeteria and already has a (secret) fan club. His natural charisma is just about enough to cover for his crippling lack of social intelligence, and so it comes as a surprise to most that he's a huge tabletop game nerd, despite not looking the part one bit. Please don't tell him that Master Rule 4 was a mistake, though. He literally Will Not Shut Up until he proves you squarely wrong.

Today is the birthday of the late Ed Asner. Many are familiar with him as the voices of Carl Fredricksen from Up, Santa from Elf, and Hudson from Gargoyles, as well as Lou Grant from the Mary Tyler Moore Show and the aptly named, Lou Grant (series).
Back in the mid 2000's, my family and I were staying at a very large expensive house that belonged to friends of my parents as guests. They had a larger cable package than we did back at home, and they had ToonDisney. I remember seeing Gargoyles while staying there, on the "Hangin' with the Heroes" block in the evening. I remember seeing this show very vaguely as a younger kid, but I must not have been older than 6 or 7 or so given the original air dates.
I was totally enamored with these characters almost instantly. I hopped on their upscale internet, and immediately perused various Disney media sites at the time and started going down the rabbit hole with what little material the internet had back in like 2004 about the show. I learned about the cast, Greg Weisman's blog Station 8, and somehow convinced my parents to upgrade our cable so I could watch it. I even made a Neopets Fanpage about the show, and I have no idea if it's still around.
I don't have a lot of specific memories about Hudson being my favorite, or even having a particularly verbose knowledge of the show back them, but I DO remember becoming familiar and fond of Ed Asner, seeing a teaser for Up, learning he was in it, and that detail making it NECESSARY for me to watch it on release day.
I remember the evening before watching Up, and enjoying it, but I rewatched it with my mom a few days later. I am not sure what was different here, but I became OBSESSED. I joined a Pixar fan site, became a highly active member, and began absolutely marathoning this film. I also spent 5 hours one evening with a mechanical pencil, very little drawing skill, and drew this. (apologies, the picture is 14 years old and washed out)
Tumblr media
To be clear, this was EXTREMELY out of nowhere. I had never drawn anything remotely this detailed before. So I (quite ignorantly, but still strongly) decided to change college majors and pursue art. Still workin' on that one...
Down the line, I ultimately watched Up in theaters 50 times, held movie nights for the fansite over Skype, made multiple forum signatures for myself and other members, and even got invited to Pixar, and met a lot of Pixar leadership (albeit briefly for most).
At the center of this though, Ed Asner was responsible for me gravitating to these characters. I've been pretty consistently enamored with his brand of wholesome curmudgeonry.
(I just made up that word, and I like it, so it's real now)
In any case, I've always felt a bit odd for having an attachment to an actor that hit his acting stride while being middle-aged in the 70s, 20 years before I was even alive - like I'm the only person my age that even knows this guy existed.
I had never gotten to meet Ed, but I did make an attempt shortly before he passed. It didn't work out, but his son Matt runs a charity organization called The Ed Asner Family Center that focuses on supporting individuals and families with autism and neurodivergence. I was fortunate enough to join an early screening of Dug Days before it released on Disney + thanks to a fundraiser by the center, including a Zoom Q&A with Ed. The thing I noticed during the call is that Ed was so immensely quick-witted, absolutely hilarious, and would not leave his piece unsaid. He had an astoundingly magnetic personality. It wasn't open mic, but I managed to get a question through - "What was it that got you into acting?"
Jonas Rivera, the Producer of Up was moderating the call and Ed about verbally trampled the guy by the time he was getting the last few words out, and he knew exactly what he wanted to say.
I don't have the exact words, but it boiled down to "escapism" - which was a bit shocking to me. You've got a former president of SAG, who'd been acting for longer than I have been a living person, and he was immediately compelled to tell everyone that the reason he got into showbusiness is to run from the world and its problems. It was remarkably humble.
Ed passed away exactly a week later. I couldn't eat for 2 days, I was so distraught.
I highly recommend that folks check out a lot of the acting Ed has done. He's absolutely brilliant, and one of the most fun people to watch. He was intimidatingly witty, and yet seemed like the guy who would talk to just about anyone. And then make them laugh their sides off.
I haven't shared my deep admiration for Ed too often other than with folks closest to me, but Ed Asner was a precious gem of a human being, and embodies a lot of things I think the world - particularly folks of the male persuasion - should have a bit more of.
Here's to you, Ed. Have a happy birthday up there for us, big guy. We love ya. <3
Tumblr media
(side note, the portrait at the top, I drew to commemorate his first birthday after he passed in 2021. The picture at the bottom was drawn, but not adequately finished imo, about 2 weeks before he left us. I need to give it a proper redo someday)

I see there's still a slot left for foul legacy: raging tide so I hope I'm not too late to request something 👀
Three things about me:
As I said in my other ask, I love to draw and write and I try to do that as much as I can during my free time between hw and class. Although it's been much harder to find time during college and I am often plagued with art/ writer's block 😔
I'm a bio major and I have no problem with handling bugs and other little critters that most people get queasy about. Once you've dissected sheep brains and whole squids, grabbing a spider isn't such a big deal lol
It generally takes me a while to start seeing someone as a close friend rather than a friendly acquaintance that I sometimes see in class. In the same vein it also takes me a while to begin considering someone as a possible romantic partner bc I only start to feel attraction after I've known them for a while and established an emotional connection
I'm a big fan of the star student/delinquent trope and even though I'm not really the type that only cares about studying, I do generally prioritize that over other things
Thank you in advance!! I can't wait to see the rest of this event unfold :D
The Delinquent [Childe]
c/w: mentions and implications of rumours, implication of bad school culture, Biology dissection (not described in detail)
Note: Hello!! I'm so so sorry this fic took so long! I wasn't particularly inspired for this fic so I was holding it off, then school came in the way for quite a bit. I don't know much about dissections, but I did a quick Google search and I hope I've written it such that it's not too difficult to believe. I hope that you enjoy this!
word count: 1.5k
--
Sun and moon. Both you and Childe live worlds apart. The two of you are only in each other’s orbit, seeing each other from a distance. The closest that you’ll ever get is being a few seats away in biology class. However, even though you only share one class with him, you know him all too well.
Childe is the infamous sporty kid in school. He’s also one who often wins academic competitions for the school. The student body doesn’t necessarily dislike him either. In fact, the girls adore him. They think that he’s hot and charming. But outside of his friend group, everyone is mostly too intimidated by his aura to approach him.
You can also always count on Childe to constantly talk back to teachers and staff. Now and then, you would catch him breaking school rules by exploiting their loopholes. The school hasn’t expelled him, given that he’s not causing harm or trouble to anyone. On top of that, he largely excels in many areas. Though… There are rumours of him beating other students up. But no one has actually seen him do so.
You, on the other hand, keep to your group of friends. That’s how you decided you were going to spend the rest of your school life. Comfortable with a group of friends that you cherish deeply, out of the spotlight.
That is until Childe decides to collide into your world for a reason you cannot bring yourself to turn down. Okay, you could have, but you don't dare to.
As a short breather from studying in the library, you doodle a little. Childe walks up to your side while you’re doing so.
With a volume lower than usual, he greets you. “Hey, [name]- Oh these look pretty cute.”
You dropped your pencil on your notebook, taken aback that the Childe is talking to you.
“What’s up, Childe?” you ask as your hand subtly shifts above the doodles in your notebook. Honestly, you want nothing to do with him. But, at the same time, you are courteous enough not to shut someone out the first time they speak to you.
He smiles sheepishly as he requests, “Sorry to bother you, but could you give me a demonstration on the dissection of a sheep’s brain?”
You only blink at him in response. You asked him to repeat, making sure you didn’t mishear him. Assuming you couldn’t hear him, he raises his volume. Only slightly, so as not to disturb other students.
“I need some help on dissecting a sheep’s brain and I’d like you to show me a demonstration. Would that be okay for you?”
Fumbling over your words a little, you agree to help him with his dissection. “Great! Thank you so much, [name]. Will tomorrow after our biology lesson be good?”
“Yeah, sure…”
With that, he walks off with a slight skip in his steps. But you, on the other hand, are highly preoccupied with your thoughts. You think you got a little too nervous around him. They say you shouldn’t show fear in front of what you are afraid of. Wait, since when were you afraid of him?
On top of that worry, you aren’t sure if you should be proud that Childe thinks highly enough of you to ask you for help, or if you should be concerned that you are now responsible for tutoring the infamous school delinquent instead.
Do you really know the dissection like the back of your hand? What if he asks you about the details that you've thrown to the back of your mind? As an extra precaution, you start to relook at your notes on the dissection. Before you sleep at night, you give your notes one last read too.
The next day, you realise during lessons that you forgot to check if there was a supervising teacher present after school. For students to use the laboratory after school, there is a rule stating that a teacher has to be present. Childe probably wouldn’t heed that rule in normal circumstances. But since your last lesson is Biology in the laboratory with him, your teacher would definitely know both of you are staying back. If there was no one around, your teacher wouldn’t permit you two to use the room and kick the both of you out.
So, you pray. You pray that there wouldn’t be any supervising teacher, so you’d get to slip out on Childe. But unfortunately, when class ends, you find out that your teacher is on duty today.
Sighing internally, you resign yourself to helping Childe. As you prepare your workbench, you catch your teacher's eyes darting between the two of you. Likely surprised that both of you speak to each other, you suppose. You'd be surprised too.
When all the preparation is done, you try to hide your disappointment and ask, “So, how do you want me to teach this to you?”
“You can do a step-by-step demonstration, then I’ll try to follow along.”
After every step, you check on the steps that he executes. While doing so, you notice how slender his hands are and the little faded scars on them.
“[Name]? We can continue.”
You snap out of your daze and mutter an apology, continuing the dissection. At some point, you stop him. “Hold on, you’re about to cut the wrong part.”
He shifts his gaze over to your scalpel, trying to assess the exact point to cut. Before he does anything, you move over to his side as you always do when you teach your friends. You wrap your hand around his that holds the scalpel and you guide his hand.
Childe becomes momentarily distracted by your touch on his. He tries to ignore the feeling of his skin tingling and regain his focus.
(But it is for nought because all he can think of is how cool you are for being so good at Biology. Heck, not just Biology, but other subjects too. Words of your consistently stellar grades don’t escape him.)
You only realise the proximity between the two of you after you let go of his hand. Taking a step back, your leg bumps into the stool. You stumble for a bit. Childe’s hand reaches out to your arm and it hovers right above your skin, ready to catch you. But you don’t fall and a few moments pass.
Inside, you beat yourself up a little for almost falling onto the ground in front of someone you’ve barely spoken to before. You straighten yourself and Childe withdraws his hand back to his side.
You clear your throat in an attempt to dissipate the tension in the air. “There’s only one more step left to go. I can show that to you and if you’re good, we can pack up.”
You note how hot your face feels and hope he doesn’t tell this to his friend circle. You don’t particularly like them, given the amount of drama they attract.
You try to concentrate, though the incident earlier remains at the front of your mind. Soon, he ends the procedure without a hitch, so you assume that you’ve taught him the right step despite your lack of focus. With that, both of you clean up the workbench.
Childe finishes cleaning up faster than you. He always packs up quickly after class, and you chalk up his speed to his desire to leave class early. You think he’s about to leave when he comes over to help you. When he does, he thanks you.
“Thanks for the tutoring session, [name].”
A few seconds of silence lapse. You’re not sure if you should thank him for helping you. But before you say anything, he asks, “Say… could I ask you for more help next time? I struggle quite a bit with Biology.”
Immediately, you nod. It'll just be more tutoring sessions that'll benefit you too. Though, you ask, “Don’t you have friends who do Biology?”
Childe’s face sours a little, a smile still plastered on his face. He whispers, “Let’s just say that while I do hang out with them, I don’t like to stay around them more than I need to.”
Your eyes widen slightly. The two of you have more in common than you thought.
As the two of you walk down the hallways to the exit, he exchanges contacts with you. Childe does a tiny fist pump in the air. “Nice! Now, we can easily arrange study sessions!”
He turns to look at you and offers, “If you need anything too, you can always ask me!”
Childe flashes you a smile. He’s really not so bad.
When the two of you part ways at the school gate, you wave to him. He returns one with that annoyingly vibrant smile of his. But, maybe you could get used to this.
Only then do you realise, oh, you are in so much danger. The moon is reaching its orbit closest to the sun now.

Hey everyone, please to enjoy the following silly crap I wrote for @xinambercladx. This was her request for the Valentine's Day exchange on the Duros Hoes discord server. She wanted a story about Bane walking one of her OC's home. I chose Yenem - you remember this gal -
Tumblr media
- and came up with this. Only seventeen days late! Go me!
Anyway, enjoy👍🏻Hope you like it @xinambercladx !

The Heirloom
"Thank you for coming on such short notice," Yenem said. She looked annoyed as she adjusted her short, form-fitting glittery purple cocktail dress. A huge, fluffy white fur coat was slung over her forearm.
Cad Bane gestured for the coat, shifting a tooth pick from one corner of his mouth to the other. He took it by the shoulders and held it out for her to put on.
"Oh! Why thank you," she said. She turned to slip it on, glancing back at him over her shoulder as she did so. "Is there a charge for this?"
He smirked. "Free w' de bodyguard package - if y'tell me how y' found out there's a bounty on ye before I did."
She sighed. "Sometimes when I am exceptionally bored, I run my name against the holonet. Turned up on the bounty boards," she said, retrieving her data pad from her purse. "And that reception was exceptionally boring."
He glanced through the picture window of the art gallery they stood before. Inside was a quite lively, quite crowded cocktail party.
"Doesn' look boring."
"Trust me, it was nothing but a room full of poseurs." She sighed and looked up at him, doe eyed, and took his arm. "Get me out of here, Bane."
"Yes ma'am," he said, tapping the brim of his hat. "Y'sure y'wanna go back to d'hotel? You'd be safer on my ship."
"My things are at the hotel."
"Y' don need yer things."
"One of those things is what they're after."
"An' y' left it in yer room?"
"In the safe," she said.
"Hotel safes ain't safe."
"Was I supposed to go to the reception with an ancient vase beneath my arm like a glowball?"
He paused a moment, then shrugged. "I reckon it would have been less boring that way."
"Tch!"
"Tch yerself!" he said. "Come on,  den."
***
"I've never been to this part of Coruscant," she said as they strolled over a metal walkway overlooking a canyon of city lights. "Beautiful, in a way."
"This area's all right," he said. "It gets worse the deeper down y' go."
"So I've heard."
"Dere's a real good tipyip stand couple blocks down."
"You want to stop for food?" she asked archly. "You seem pretty casual about this."
"Eh. De score on you is pretty small. We're not gon' be dealing wit any major players. Most of 'em will turn tail if de see you w' me."
"That's…reassuring."
"Dat's why you hired me."
"Indeed," she said, pressing close to him as they walked.
He smiled slightly at this. "So tell me 'bout this hot vase y'got."
"It's not hot," she said. "I bought it perfectly legally at auction. But apparently it's a family hierloom and said family is desperate to get it back. I offered to sell it to them, and for only a slight profit. But they seem determined to obtain it by other means."
"So dey're gon' chase whoever has it?"
"I assume so."
"Hmm," he replied. "Well, you're makin' it easy for em in dat coat."
Yenem frowned. "What about my coat?"
"It's huge n' bright n' … foofy."
"Foofy?"
"Yeah," he said. "Y' look like a leggy wampa."
"Excuse me?"
"What?" he asked, smirking. "It's a compliment."
She balked. "Surely you can come up with a better compliment than that."
"Sure, sure," he said. He went silent for a moment as the walked past a well manicured hedge full of bright flowers that led up to the hotel. He picked one.
"Yer the prettiest sheep I ever saw," he said, grinning, handing her the flower as they entered the hotel.
"You're a terrible date," Yenem said, accepting the flower.
"I'm a great date," Bane said. "Y' wanna make dis a date, dat's a different pricin' structure."
"Oh?" she asked, intrigued. "What's the going rate for a date with Cad Bane?"
"Well, dat depends," he began, but stopped short, clocking something across the lobby. Yenem turned to follow his gaze. A human boy of about fourteen leaned wide-eyed against the lobby bar with an open clamshell full of tip-yip skewers. He looked startled to see Bane.
"Who is that?" Yenem asked.
"A little shit," Bane grumbled, gesturing the boy over. He scowled but obeyed.
"Boba!" Bane said as he approached. "What are y' doin here?"
"I was in the neighborhood."
"Dis job is kinda low rent for you, ain' it?"
"You're here," the boy shot back.
"I ain' here for a bounty. I'm here to buy a vase from my lady friend."
Yenem turned to Bane in surprise.
"You're … buying a vase?" Boba asked skeptically.
"Sure am."
"Ohh," Yenem said, pulling her data pad from her purse, "Yes, he is. I'm drafting the bill of sale right now."
"Why do you need a vase?" Boba asked.
"Fer flowers."
"Since when do you have flowers and put them in vases?"
"You don't know my life," Bane replied haughtily.
Boba frowned. "Actually I do know your life, and -"
"Point bein -" Bane interjected, "is dat dis vase is now property of Cad Bane, and if de family yer workin' for wants to take it up wid me - and not her -" he said, gesturing to Yenem, "dey're more den welcome to. So you run along now an' you tell 'em dat."
"Thumb print here," Yenem said, handing Bane the blank pad. He pressed his digit to the screen and handed it back to her.
"See?" he said. "All mine.  Now get lost, Boba."
Tch," Boba said. "Whatever. Low paid job anyway. Later, Bane."
"Wait," Bane said.
"What?"
"Gimme one of those," Bane said, plucking a skewer from Boba's takeout box.
"Hey!"
"I said get lost," Bane repeated, shooing Boba away.
"Gimme my tip yip back!"
Bane tore a piece off the end of the skewer with his fang. "Fuck off, Boba," he said around the meat. " An' you tell de people yer workin' for -"
"Yeah yeah I'll tell 'em," Boba muttered. "Fierfek."
The boy stalked out of the hotel shaking his head.
"Well," Yenem said, bemused. "You made short work of that."
"Yep. Shouldn't be a problem for ye anymore."
"Elegantly handled."
Bane tapped the brim of his hat. "Whaddya say we head upstairs an' have a look at 'my' new vase?"
Yenem smiled slyly, pulling him towards the turbolift. "It's quite the piece," she said. "Has a naked lady on it."
"Y' don' say?" Bane grinned.  "I like it already."

I've noticed there's been a tendency lately among antis and people who attack art for clout (or to kneecap rivals) to defend their flagrant misreadings. Say someone misreads and misrepresents a work as anti-X because they think there is a poorly represented X character, but then it's revealed to the vast majority who didn't bother reading the thing that the accuser lied and the character wasn't X after all. The person who initiated the attack (and may have destroyed the accused's credibility or livelihood) never apologizes. They claim that the character was X-coded even when there is no evidence of this, and the people who joined the mob never go back and admit they supported a lie. And the vast majority of the people dogpiling are more privileged than the accused. What to do when something like this happens?
--
The only solution is to build ways to sell indie art to actual paying customers that don't require twitter virality.
Until we say no to platforms that encourage dogpiling, we'll have lots of it. As long as vulnerable people have their whole emotional support network or whole livelihood on such platforms, they'll be tempting targets for people who like watching others cry.
Also, socially penalize idiots who uncritically spread lies. Block early, block often. Don't go "oh, they weren't the ringleader! They were trying to do the right thing!" No they weren't, and if they were, now they've learned a valuable lesson about your ass getting ostracized for being a dipshit.

congrats mother 3 you managed to get me out of art block to the degree that i found the motivation to make an animatic for the first time in five years after wanting to all that time but never being able to commit. final evolution of fandom brainrot
in all seriousness, as an animatic centered around mother 3's "known for being such a heart-warming and wholesome" ending, this is definitely one of my darker works. i promise i'll be back with something more light-hearted soon
rant below, tw's in tags and video intro
i've been listening to a lot of rise against lately and make it stop (september's children) made me really emotional the first time i heard. the song was actually written to raise suicide awareness for bullied lgbt youth (which for the record i don't want to erase, that is a very serious topic that is still relevant today which is why i'm mentioning that here and appreciating what the song set out to talk about)
but the first verse specifically is about lamenting over not seeing the signs that a loved one was on that kind of path--which, of course, is relevant to lucas and claus. lucas, who blamed himself for claus's disappearance in the first place and probably felt even worse when claus died by his own hand. claus, who showed less-obvious signs of struggling over hinawa in that last half-day before he disappeared that nobody in Tazmily was educated to recognize or help with.
it's easy to miss even for the player the first time going through (hell, i did at first), but in hindsight there were so many red flags: his complete shutting down at the campfire, and his consistent tendencies to run away whenever he's about to show emotional vulnerability (when caught by tessie at hinawa's grave, then when his confidence breaks when talking to flint in the jail cell). one may assume he was taking it better than lucas, but the ending proves that was far from the case.
(of course it was much, much more complicated than that, i don't think he'd have done that if not for everything that happened with the masked man thing. but ultimately i believe his desire to see his mother again was a major deciding factor in the end: the mother he was denied the ability to correctly grieve over when his autonomy and mind was robbed from him for so many years)
but hindsight is 20/20, as they say. all one can do is take claus's story as a lesson: always make sure your kids know that it's okay for them to feel difficult emotions, and they aren't weak for crying or needing support. perhaps the trip to the Drago would have never happened had claus been taught that, and he would have lived.

I’ve been curious about your space au for awhile and the characters you created with it, is it inspired or a cross over with a game of some sort or is it entirely original? Because the blips I see you create are really cool and I’m super interested in the story and art as a whole.
It's a bit of everything I guess! It was originally a "Sun & Moon" AU for Team Fortress 2, started in early January 2021 but the characters quite quickly began to change from their original intention ;w; subtly OOC to straight up different motives and desires; although I try to keep their personalities similar despite the whole different path of life, as well as create scenarios that build them into the characters they are/derive from!
October 2021 brought Gordon/Half-Life into the mix just on a whim. Since then, it's very much changed into it's own thing and become my own little passion project.
I've considered making it sorta Valve-oriented (recently have been concepting how to add Portal to the mix), but as it's become less of an AU and something I consider more of it's own story and have been adding original characters to, it's sorta inconclusive what it is right now.
I don't call it completely my own simply because the characters are derived from previously existing ones, be it in only appearance or personality too - but the story I have blocked out intended does take a completely different path, due to the inherent concept of their beings as celestial bodies in space, although I try to frame some events referencing pivotal moments to the original characters.
I'll still call it "TF2 Space AU" as was it's loose name at first! But I've also been calling the story as "Spaceau"/"Space-AU" lately :3
Whether or not I eventually break away from the original media it derives from, I’m unsure. I don’t think I’ll change their appearances/personalities however if so because they’ve been so set in stone, be it through the immense amount of art I’ve drawn, others have drawn, or sculptures even too. That’s who they are and I can’t see them differently.
There is SO much I have planned for it, my only struggle is time to commit to it ;w; but I hope to one day be able to share the whole story! Be it in little pieces, context-less and concept art, or more.
And sidenote; I tend to be a little closed off about it (mostly bc online social anxiety -u-””) because I want to have so much more already prepared to share, have all my plot notes concrete and just everything be perfect and grandiose once I think it’s ready. A lot of it is jumbled all over the place and I’m still fleshing out major plot points and middle points to be arranged all together in a concise story. But who knows! My hopeful intention is to have all the plot written together in a storyboard style final draft, so I can interpret it into a webcomic to share - as telling stories through visual art is my personal way to tell stories.
(in any case: thanks for readin’ all this if you did! And thank you everyone whose been supporting me making this and been excited to see it. I hope to have more and more to share!)

for the art questions thing: what’s your process for shading? how do you come up with drawing / animation ideas? how do you sketch / how does a sketch differ from a complete piece for you?
Oh boy thank u for the questions! Uhh i ended up writing a lot w these so I'll throw this under a cut. I added pictures too. We'll call this a first draft for whatever I end up doing for my class assignment.
My process for shading changes pretty dramatically between if I'm doing my easy cel shading or my fancy soft shading. Lately, if I'm doing cel shading, I'll just come up with colors straight off the color wheel (colorpick and move it darker, more saturated, cooler/warmer depending on the material). OR, one trick I like, I'll draw where I want the shadows all on their own layer, THEN copy my color layer, mask n merge it on top the shading, and multiply that onto the actual layer. So it's the same colors for each exact section multiplied on top of itself? If that makes sense? Does nothing for the Atmosphere but it is Darker, and if I'm drawing them in a void anyways, it works fine. Sometimes I like to just slap a random tilted rectangle on it like its a garfield background. My soft shading is much more trial and error; for those fancy Xiph pin-ups I've been doing, I'll have like 30 different layers going, all doing different shit. Multiply mostly for shading, then for highlights I'll just try overlay/screen/soft light/hard light until something Works. A fun thing I do on these too: To get that "painted" look without adding a bunch of random texture, I use my default lining pen sized WAY up with the opacity WAY down and just go ham. Close up of robot ass for reference.
Tumblr media
For ideas: I'd say the majority of the art I put out is "inspired" from something else, like memes or songs or tiktok audios. Honestly, I'd say every piece of information I receive has to pass through a "could this be about my ocs" filter in my brain, and if the answer is even kind of yes, I Will Make It So. Everything is ocs to me <3 and sometimes I inflict those oc thoughts on everyone else :3 For actual Original stuff though? Most of my ideas come about as a natural result of trying to figure something out with my characters. How would they respond to this, how would they do that, how does that work? The whole reason I started doing art is cause I have such a hard time with words, and sometimes drawing it out is just the only way I can communicate a thought. Expressions, camera angles, visual gags, subtle details, timing, those are things I could never figure out in writing. So I make comics and animations!
Sketching, what can I say about sketching. My sketches are very messy because I try for a Zero Erasing method like I do in real life (<- enjoys drawing in pen). If I sit there overthinking every line of a sketch, I get too caught up in the details before I've figured out the full picture. Sketching is for blocking/framing/posing ONLY, clean up is for lineart. I do sketch in only black/grays if that's a thing people care about, but that's because I have very strong thoughts on color, again it's too distracting. The main difference to me (that im sure no one else notices) is I let my sketches get fuzzy from resizing. I'm very particular about my art having NO anti-aliasing/transparent pixels. Crisp and clean, and VERY easy to color. Sketches I have on hand for example. Lil preview of smthin im working on :3c
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Actually, sometimes I don't do sketches at all ? Like I go straight to clean lines. Only for certain characters, like LEDD and the lab rats, and if it's not a crazy angle or something. I can just draw them on command at this point. Very handy.
Thank you again for questions ^^ I am. slowly figuring this assignment out.

2022 in fic
Thank you so much for the tag @mystickitten42 (you can read her answers here (which may or may not made me want to read all of them)) to post a line from each fic that I posted last year. Sadly, I didn't post as much as I would've liked. I've struggled with a major writer's block, as well as having a lot of things happening in real life. But I tried to remember my fandom wishes that I posted a year ago, and one of them was to be kind to myself, which I got to practice a lot.
Sweet Desire (Scorbus, 5,8k, Explicit. I tried to capture that feeling of new teenage love and trying out new things together)
Yes, yes, cheating by posting several lines as well as a break between them, but 1: I've only posted a few things this year so I think I can gush a bit about this one, and 2: this was the part that made me really want to finish writing this and posting it.
Here’s the thing about me: I’m not good-looking. Nor am I sexy. People assume that I am, I’ve seen the disappointment on their faces enough times to know that. It’s probably because I look so much like Dad, who is super famous, and good looks should come with that, right? [---] But here’s the thing about Scorpius: the way he looks at me, the way he touches me, it’s—it makes me feel sexy. Desirable, even.
(I'll cheat some more and include this line from Scorpius which I had so much fun crafting because i HC him as being very rambly and very into things, even in the middle of sex:)
Scorpius clambers to sit up again, eyes bright and twinkling. “Oh, good! I’ve been looking up techniques and different ways to do it, which, I’m sorry to say, hasn’t been easy. I mean these things aren’t really in any of our library books, which I honestly think is a shame because there should be at least something about having safe sex, but Alexis Fluke lent me a—well, to be honest, it was a rather graphic book, and it had—”
Sinking/Floating (Drarry, just shy of 1k, Teen and Up, sad Harry coping with the aftermaths of the war, inspired by this gorgeous art by @bluebutter-art)
My favourite line is really the last one but shhhh this is also a fave:
And it’s not perfect, not always: you still both have your scars and your trauma, and sometimes you still fight, screaming at the top of your lungs when the pressure is just too much. But however broken you and him are, somehow the ragged edges of the two of you fit together into something whole, something better.
Third Time's the Charm (Drarry, 693 words, Teen and Up. Cinderella AU I wrote for Drarropoly)
“If you don’t tell my mother about how I refused to dance even a single dance with anyone else at the festival, I won’t tell her about your disposition for adventure.”
I also did a few prompts for flufftober, but they're really too short to be able to choose a single line from, so I'll break the rules and choose my favourite drabble, which is the microfic for the prompt Truth or Dare:
“What’s the last lie you told?” Draco looks into guarded green eyes, helpless.  “No,” he finally grinds out. Playing Truth or Dare with Veritaserum was a stupid idea to agree to. “What?” Granger says, but Harry’s already in front of him, so close their lips are touching. “I knew it.”
I've been in and out of tumblr for the last months or so, and I have no idea who's done this (and also, is it maybe a bit late?), but on the off chance that someone wants to do this, I'll go ahead and tag @sassy-sassy3 @drarryruinedme7 @crazybutgood @julcheninred @evaeleanor @fictional @mags0607 @rei382
