#I've been thinking a lot about the batfam playing d&d

Dick: I can't believe Bruce trapped us in a dungeon again.
Jason: I don't know why you're surprised, he loves watching us suffer.
Clark, not knowing thy're talking about their d&d session: What do you mean again?
Jason: Last time it happened it took us three hours to get out. But I admit this time he overdid it with the deathtraps.
Diana, also unaware: Deathtraps!?
Dick: Yeah, I thought we were all going to die. Lucky for us, this time we only lost Damian.
Jason: It's going to be a pain in the ass to revive him.
Clark and Diana: 👁️👄👁️

hey in your tags you mentioned a “batfam leverage au” can u explain what that is
Happily! :D
So I'm not sure if you're familiar with the show Leverage, but the quick summary is that it's about a group of "bad guys" (a hacker, a hitter, a grifter, a theif and the mastermind that directs them all) that help people who have been hurt by the rich and powerful by using their skills to pull heists and cons on the bad guy of the episode to ruin them and get back whatever was taken/right whatever was made wrong.
It's an amazing show that I can't recommend enough, very clever, very funny, big found family vibes and an OT3 that's *this close* to being canon (and has been supported by the writers). The heists are amazing and it's all around an AMAZING show.
Anyway, the BatPham Leverage Au is basically just: a collection of DP & BatFam members join together to make a robin hood heist team like in the show Leverage. I have a couple versions of the BatPham Leverage AU rattling around my head, but most fleshed out right now are:
Business of Family - the Uncle Oz AU (Penguin Adopts Jazz & Danny): My plan for this story is for Jazz and Danny to decide to start running heists in Gotham on the people in the city that tend to fly under Batman's radar but who are still very much doing a lot of harm to the city and it's people. The Leverage AU part of this story is going to have Jazz as the Mastermind, Jason as the Hitter, Tim as the Hacker, Danny as the Thief/Maker (basically engineer), and Elle as the Grifter (shapeshifting Elle for the win lol).
Another Leverage AU I've been thinking about for awhile but that I haven't turned into a story yet is one where Team Phantom (Danny, Jazz, Sam, Tucker & Elle) are tasked with finding and returning various Infinite Realm artifacts that have ended up in the mortal world. And for some reason Gotham has just so many Infinite Realm artifacts in it. Like most of the artifacts in the world are in Gotham for some wild reason (it's Gotham there doens't need to be more of a reason).
They're on the run from the GIW/Fentons, so they're trying not to advertise any ghostly/liminal powers if they can help it, so they largely do heists without powers (minus Tucker doing all his hacking and everything from the Ghost Zone and some occasional invisibility/intangibility when it's called for, but they really do try and keep any power use to a minimum).
In this AU, Jazz is the Mastermind (again, because I love that role for her haha), Tucker is the Hacker, but that's when I can't quite decide who should be who.
I love the idea of Sam being a Hitter, but I think she'd be able to play Grifter pretty well knowing the rich as well as she does, Danny would love being a Hitter and being able to fuck some assholes' shit up while being completely feral but he could also still be a good Thief. Elle could go either Grifter again, but I like her as a Theif in this one, maybe running into Damian in the vents while she's trying to get into a vault or something lol. (I think it'd go with Danny: Hitter, Sam: Grifter, Elle: Thief, but I have no idea if that'll stick if/when I ever write this lol)
Whatever the team looks like, because there are so many artifacts in Gotham & because they can't just use their powers willy-nilly to grab them and run, they're going to be in Gotham for a long time, possibly years. Which means they need some kind of side hustle to pay the bills, which leads them to doing more heists, but this time on various rich assholes that deserve to lose a bunch of money.
Eventually they get on the Bats radar, and there'd be some fun cat & mouse back and forth with the BatFam trying to catch the Phantom Crew (Danny shouldn't be allowed to name things, but he already told Red Robin that was their team name before anyone could stop him). Eventually the GIW do show up and things start getting even more complicated (and maybe someone activates an artifact, resulting in a powerful entity being released in Gotham that they all have to team up to fight).
I have no name for this au other than the DP X DC Leverage Au, but I do know that'll have plenty of Anger Management, Brain Dead (or really Brain Dead + Everlasting Trio, don't know what the ship name for that is), Serious Chaos.
It'll also have Batman aggressively trying to adopt them all because he doesn't actually have anything against them stealing from these assholes as long as they don't hurt anyone. They're acting outside of the law yes but they're doing it in order to give justice to those who have been made victims by the system and he's all about that (the real final battle of the story is between Bruce & Selina who both want to adopt the Pham, who would like to know if they get a say in any of this - they don't).

hey so this is frankly wayy later than I thought it would be but my dear beloved mutual @briefcasejuice asked for batfam fic recs that are (in my opinion) accurate to canon characterization, and they specifically said they're most familiar with jason and damian so that's what they wanted me to focus on. he also asked for no ship fic so it's all batfamily focused
many of these are repeats but that's just because they're so damn good
first and foremost, Make a Little Birdhouse in Your Soul, which I have said on the record is my favorite Jason fic and I stand by it. I think it absolutely understands Jason to an extreme degree, and I like how it makes Jason take accountability for his actions. extremely believable character development, beautiful writing, and the sequel adds Damian into the mix absolutely beautifully
The 70 Days After Groundhog Day is another one I've recommended before. this one focuses on Jason & Dick's relationship. it's told through Dick's POV, but it's about the aftermath of a time loop that Jason was stuck in. cw that a couple of scenes deal heavily with past sexual assault/rape
I like Nests and Cages because I too find it incredibly interesting that Jason thought Shiva could have been his mother, and his ethnic ambiguity has simply never been brought up since. also I love Cass in this. anyway yeah it's just about Jason's parentage and him finding himself and on the way rejoining the batfam
Minefield is literally too much to explain in one paragraph, each fic is really its own thing. I'm linking it mostly for Harvest, in which Jason and Bruce spend a long time together more or less isolated on the Kents' farm. it's emotionally raw and incredibly authentic
3:16 is an au where Bruce actually really did die in Final Crisis, and focuses on Dick's developing relationship with Damian. it's incredibly steeped in various canons and also will hurt your soul. it's incomplete but still updating semi-regularly, and also frankly because almost every chapter is a standalone you can read it as a collection of short stories most of the time
Assassins and Animal Crossing is about Damian playing Animal Crossing. I figure we all deserve some fluff considering how absolutely insanely emotional this list has been so far. and will continue to be.
one of my absolute favorite dynamics to explore is Tim and Damian's, which is done incredibly well in The Study of Birds. Damian and Tim find out they have something in common - they both enjoy birding. character development ensues
and a couple last Jason focused fics, both featuring the rebirth outlaws team - first is Retrogade Motion, which is The de-aging fic in my eyes, it just does so much with the concept and doesn't cop out on the consequences. second is we're a gang, friends, which relies heavily on both post-crisis continuity and early rebirth before sort of doing its own thing for a bit there.
and here's another fluff fic that's not incredibly rooted in a canon but makes me laugh just to close us out - Life in the Fast Lane. I just like it a lot.
enjoy :D

i heard you were doing match ups and i'm here to awkwardly ask for one for the batfam if that's cool. ♡
i'm the local anxious nightmare goblin enby [he/they] with thick blonde hair and blue eyes with central heterochromia, somewhere around 5'5 ft. generally just a funky little guy who likes to wear comfy clothes which just so happens to consistently be in a goth or cottagecore in aesethic. i am very blind, so glasses are always on.
i've been told i'm very polite and quiet, but i tend to see myself more as just very anxious and a people pleaser. just a tad skilled in giving a false sense of confidence i guess. however, the second i am comfortable i can be prone to being impossible to shut up especially if i'm talking about things i am very passionate about and generally just being a tad more out of pocket with how open i can be. i tend to be a caretaker for my friends but not to myself, self care is optional kind of energy until i burn out and need to recover for like a week straight. I just like to be, very busy, sitting down makes me anxious so taking care or listening to my friends or doing work of any kind just feels good. especially if any sort of validation is involved. i need reminders to take care of myself a lot though, so working on that. i've been called a textbook libra if that explains anything.
my interests mostly involve art, fantasy, and horror. i'm an active artist who's trying to make graphic novels and webcomics, and horror is just my favorite genre in general. fantasy is because i'm a huge nerd and play D&D, lame I know. a few niche interests develop in bursts, but i tend to always go back to my spooky movies and how much i love looking and creating pretty pictures for people and myself.
I was undecided between Cass (Cassandra Cain) and Dami (Damian Wayne) but I think you are...
Damian's beloved
He'd appreciate your character even if he wouldn't show it maybe like Dick might but he'd appreciate it for sure, he'd support you and help you with your anxiety; he'd listen to you all the time while maybe taking care of his animal friends and he'd share your passion for art by finding himself drawing with you more than once.
Portraits
Tumblr media
Pairing: Damian Wayne X Reader
Warnings: fluff
Words: 116
Summary: Damian and his beloved while drawing together.
Note: Sorry for the mistakes and the English.
....................................................................................
They were both still, sitting by the window in the living room of Wayne Manor, spending most of their days together doing what they like or just cuddling.
That afternoon they were doing one of those things they often did together, which was: drawing, so the two of them were standing still with a notepad in their arms, a pencil in their hands and an eraser by the window.
Their gazes looked up rhythmically after a couple of seconds to see how to continue their portraits while also trying to capture the character of their partner in this drawing that had been going on for hours, exchanging small smiles every time they met the other's gaze.

I feel like you might be the only person that understands my love for "Dark But Not Dark At All Dick Grayson". Allow me to explain. I don't want Dick to be a villain. I don't want him to be an antihero like Jason. But what I need in my life is him toeing that line. Cuz all the batfam does, right? But that gets lost in fan works! And recently, lost in comics too. I want Dick Grayson absolutely beating the shit out of people. Within an inch of their lives. A lot of times when showing off the bad assness of characters people will say "they know 200 hundred ways to kill a person" or whatever. But what's even more dangerous than that, is knowing how NOT to kill a person. Knowing juuuuuust when to stop to keep them alive. Knowing the right bones to break, the right veins to cut, the best ways to cause agony without letting them die
Anyways, I'm horny for dangerous Dick Grayson and you're the only writer I've seen feed our hungry souls with exactly that
god i identify with every single line of this babe it’s like you’re reading my mind.
i should clarify first. i don’t necessarily think he does these things out of anger (most of the time). i like that dick is one of the few dc characters that isn’t motivated by anger. instead he’s motivated by love and protectiveness.
but everyone knows that love and protectiveness are motivators a thousand times more powerful than hate or anger. and that is the borderline-dark dick grayson that i adore.
he’s been established very early on as, not a genius, but someone who’s clever, analytical, and creative. when it comes to cases to solve and battle plans to make, he has not only the natural talent but also the practice. he’s one of the most experienced and lethal combatants out there. cassandra cain has to work to beat him in a fight, and she’s motherfucking cassandra. cain. forget beating her cause you usually can’t, but if you can come close to keeping up with her, then i am automatically t e r r i f i e d of your power and strength. and i feel like we don’t talk about how important experience is. he has experience fighting someone, has experience in playing someone like a fiddle, has experience bringing them to the edge of death and then pulling them back.
and it’s kinda like the marvel discussion with spidey. if you have the skills and ability to murder, permanently maim/injure, and terrify the living daylights out of someone, sure, you’re badass. but even more badass, even more deserving of awe and respect, is if you can do all that easily, but you choose not to.
you can complete your job. you can be a successful and frightening vigilante. but you have the self control and internal moral code to not go to far.
and the few times he does go that far, like the time he beat the joker to death, it’s out of love and protectiveness for his family. he was protecting tim and grieving over jason. his most brutal and awe-some moments in canon were usually done out of love for his friends and his family.
i feel like that’s a much more interesting and complex character than ahhhh-anger-rage-murder-bloodthirst-i’m so mad inside-fuck all of you imma shoot you in the head. (jason. looking at you. black canary got dipped in the laz pit and after a few weeks of crazed rage she was fine.)
ANYWAY YEA. it’s either that or i’m just really like bamf!dick grayson and will find any excuse to write him. could go either way honestly. but thank you thank you thank you, i’m so glad you like this stuff, because god knows i hyperfixate on it wayyyy too much.
